March 29, 2021

DDT “PEANUTS ARE ALSO A GOOD SOURCE OF PROTEIN! 2021”, 03/04/2021
Chiba 2AW Square

1. Akito & Toui Kojima Vs Yusuke Okada & Yukio Naya
2. Toru Owashi, Kazuki Hirata & Saki Akai Vs Antonio Honda, MAO & Keigo Nakamura
3. Playfulness Series Act 2: Danshoku Dieno Vs Hideki Okatani
4. Eruption Vs DAMNATION!: Kazusada Higuchi & Yukio Sakaguchi Vs Soma Takao & Mad Paulie

6. Uchibo, Sotobo, Dai Boso! Chiba Specialty Special 6-Man Tag Match: Daisuke Sasaki, Tetsuya Endo & Yuji Hino Vs HARASHIMA, Chris Brookes & Yuki Iino

Konosuke Takeshita made a request to take April off from DDT. He isn’t sick or injured. Instead he wants to take a chance to evolve into something stronger and needs to be away for a month to do it. Sounds kind of familiar, doesn’t it? If it means what I think it means then I couldn’t be happier for the guy. Anyway he returns to DDT on 4th May.

BOYZ “BOYZ BE AMBITIOUS! 2021”, 04/04/2021
Tokyo Itabashi Green Hall 2nd Floor

1. Oishi & Okatani Produce Match: Makoto Oishi & Hideki Okatani Vs Yuki Ueno & Kazuki Hirata

An email sent from the address new.damnation.japan.com@gmail.com was sent to the DDT office asking for an opportunity to be recruited for DAMNATION. The mystery person asked for Tetsuya Endo & Soma Takao Vs Chris Brookes & Jun Masaoka to take place on the BOYZ show. Oh, and the email is signed under Jun Masaoka’s name. The email was forwarded to BOYZ producer Akito and after some consideration he agreed to put the match together.

YAROZ “YAROZ PART 9 ~THE SAME DAY AND SAME VENUE DECISIVE BATTLE WITH THE FATEFUL BOYZ! NEVER LOSE TO THOSE WHO ARE POPULAR! RAISE UP THE YAROS! SHOW OFF A MAN’S STORY OF BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS!~”, 04/04/2021
Tokyo Itabashi Green Hall 1st Floor

DDT’s newest signing Yusuke Okada really wants to be part of the BOYZ brand. Unfortunately everyone else thinks he is more suited to YaroZ whether he likes it or not. So for the BOYZ Vs YaroZ double booking, Okada will be wrestling on the YaroZ show.

DDT “APRIL FOOL 2021”, 11/04/2021
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

0. Under Match: Hideki Okatani Vs Toui Kojima
1. Chris Brookes, Saki Akai, Yuki Iino & Yukio Naya Vs Makoto Oishi, Akito, Kazuki Hirata & Keigo Nakamura

5. KO-D Tag Team Titles: Kazusada Higuchi & Yukio Sakaguchi (c) Vs HARASHIMA & Yuji Okabayashi
6. KO-D Openweight Title: Jun Akiyama (c) Vs Danshoku Dieno

There have been two wrestlers who have either stood up to Jun Akiyama or criticized his role in DDT. Akiyama just dispatched of Kazusada Higuchi so he now has to take care of Danshoku Dieno. Dieno accepted that Akiyama became part of DDT’s history when he signed a contract but the temptation of becoming KO-D Openweight Champion one more time means he cannot stay quiet anymore! If Akiyama hasn’t experienced full blown DDT before, he will now.

TOKYO JOSHI PRO “STILL INCOMPLETE”, 17/04/2021
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

1. International Princess Title: Yuki Kamifuku (c) Vs Nao Kakuta
2. Princess Tag Team Titles: Nodoka Tenma & Yuki Aino (c) Vs Sakisama & Mei Saint-Michel
3. Princess Of Princess Title: Rika Tatsumi (c) Vs Maki Itoh

A criticism that has been aimed towards Nao Kakuta since she started wrestling for TJPW is that she is too normal to stand out. Even her challenge to Yuki Kamifuku for the International Princess Title was considered plain or even a bit boring according to the champion. Kakuta thinks it is fine to be normal. She can be called the Normal Of Normal Princess as far as she is concerned. Her other nickname is “Rat Chaser” (she used to have a catgirl gimmick) and she found her rat in the form of Kamifuku. All she has to do now is catch her! Kakuta also said that she has no senpai or kohai figures in TJPW because she came from somewhere else so she feels comfortable enough to stretch out and use her own fighting styles that she likes.

The spotlight shines on Super Sasadango Machine and Gorgeous Matsuno in Niigata.

Whether he wins the KO-D Tag Team Titles or not, Yuji Okabayashi will at least be around for another DDT show in April. In a match against Akiyama too.

Match #2. That is all.

7. KO-D Openweight Title: Jun Akiyama (c) Vs Kazusada Higuchi

As of today, Yusuke Okada has signed a full time deal with DDT! On the DDT side, they were interested in signing him at some point and the deciding factor was when Okada fought Yuki Ueno for the DDT UNIVERSAL Title on 14th March. Sanshiro Takagi was worried that he might have missed the window to sign Okada because as a freelancer he could have gone somewhere else afterwards. Okada admitted he wasn’t thinking about his status with DDT after that match. His only concern was standing out in the ring. He still wants to broaden his wrestling horizons and DDT is a world he doesn’t know about so he will devote himself to find out. His goal for now is to win the UNIVERSAL Title because he is becoming obsessed with surpassing Ueno. It won’t be easy for him so he will build himself up to it step by step so the DDT fans will recognize him. Takagi said the signing of Okada happening so soon after signing Jun Akiyama is just a coincidence. Takagi wants Okada to wrestle everyone in DDT from all generations. If the timing is right then Takagi believes Okada will be active in DDT for a long time.

The date and location for “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2021” will be announced during the show. All that has been said so far is the event will be held in front of fans and is taking place in a first time big venue for DDT.

The return of YaroZ is bringing in the big guns for their double booked show against BOYZ. “The Goddess Of YaroZ” Tsukasa Wachi will be part of the show as a Round Girl. She has been in two YaroZ events before back in 2017. Matches won’t be announced until the day of the show but the use of a Round Girl suggests a boxing style match will be added.

2. DDT Vs NOAH Battle: Konosuke Takeshita & Yuki Ueno Vs Kaito Kiyomiya & Yoshiki Inamura
3. Princess Of Princess Title: Rika Tatsumi (c) Vs X
4. GHC Heavyweight Title: Keiji Muto (c) Vs X
5. KO-D Openweight Title: Jun Akiyama (c) Vs X

The first two DDT Vs NOAH matches have been made. The big one is Konosuke Takeshita & Yuki Ueno from DDT against NOAH’s Kaito Kiyomiya & Yoshiki Inamura. There is a little bit of history to this match. Kiyomiya was part of a NOAH team that defeated a DDT team featuring Takeshita & Ueno in a 6-Man Tag match at “TAKAYAMANIA EMPIRE 2” back in August 2019. Inamura now wants a piece of them to show how strong his team is. Kiyomiya sees himself in a similar position to Takeshita since both are former heavyweight champions for their promotions and neither will be challenging for a title at the show. Ueno thinks people misunderstand him whenever he says DDT is fun pro wrestling. Fun and strength are two different things but they also go hand and hand together. Ueno wants his team to win to prove DDT is fun, strong and shouldn’t be underestimated. Takeshita also seems to have a chip on his shoulder over any opinion that NOAH is better than DDT.

The other DDT Vs NOAH match is based around the newer wrestlers from both companies. It is confirmed to be the opening match.

7. KO-D Openweight Title: Jun Akiyama (c) Vs Kazusada Higuchi

So far in his career, Kazusada Higuchi is 0-4 in KO-D Openweight Title matches. His chase for the title is unique compared to others because he had his very first title shot only 6 months after his debut. He understands the weight that comes with holding the title is and he is also one of the few DDT wrestlers speaking up against Jun Akiyama’s growing influence in the promotion. Higuchi decided to go back to his starting point, which is sumo. That is why he wrestled barefoot in his most recent match against Akiyama that ended in a double countout. Akiyama thinks this is the biggest flaw with DDT’s roster. These wrestlers don’t look outside their own company for ideas whereas he has done a lot of things in different promotions. That is how he was able to walk into DDT and become their coach and then their champion. He gave Higuchi an ultimatum over DDT’s training sessions. If Akiyama wins then Higuchi will have to say yes to every order that is given to him. But if Higuchi wins then Akiyama will not say a word to him from now on.

Team Thoroughbred are confident in their chances of winning the KO-D 8-Man Tag Team Titles. According to Sanshiro Takagi, the opposing team captain Shinya Aoki is scared of facing powerful opponents. When Team Thoroughbred become champions, Takagi wants to expand the group to include second generation stars from other sports and forms of entertainment. His ideal amount is to mentor seven 2nd generation celebrities so they can dominate pro wrestling as the Seven Lights Of Parentage!

Chris Brookes is currently in discussions with DDT over his first DDT Extreme Title defence. He wants to remove all restrictions and have title defences outside of the usual Korakuen Hall shows. The perfect choice for his first defence is at his third self-produced DDT show that is scheduled to take place in April. His preferred opponent? Mecha Mummy!

5. DDT 24th Anniversary Special Single Match: HARASHIMA Vs Yukio Sakaguchi

7. KO-D Openweight Title: Jun Akiyama (c) Vs Kazusada Higuchi

Sanshiro Takagi has gathered together noble blood of both the pro wrestling and comedy worlds for his bid to win the KO-D 8-Man Tag Team Titles. Each of his three tag partners have wildly successful relatives from one or two generations ago. Yukio Naya comes from a valued family of sumo wrestlers. Chikara is following in the footsteps of his father Mitsuo Momota and his grandfather Rikidozan. Finally, Nabe Yakan’s father is a beloved comedian from the Showa era. Also Yakan earned Takagi’s respect after their soft gun war over the DDT Extreme Title back in January. Takagi has sworn to protect and nurture these people under the banner of Team Thoroughbred. It isn’t skill or talent that gets you success in pro wrestling. It’s nepotism!

DDT is putting together a big match to celebrate its 24th Anniversary. HARASHIMA versus Yukio Sakaguchi is a rematch from their D-Ou Grand Prix bout last December. That match had a lot of mat wrestling and ended with Sakaguchi choking HARASHIMA out.

Daisuke Sasaki’s idea to make Konosuke Takeshita join DAMNATION is approaching a crossroad. Takeshita unexpectedly cooperated with him during yesterday’s 4 Way Tag Match so it looks like Takeshita can leave their past behind and get along with him. However, The 37KAMIINA are now getting going as a full time unit. Why would Takeshita leave the sauna life behind? For now at least they remain opponents on two very different sides.

Shigehiro Irie will be on the show. Don’t know if he is still associated with #STRONGHEARTS after they signed a deal with GLEAT. He’s still with Purple Haze in All Japan but I don’t expect their business will be getting mixed up with Ganbare☆Pro anytime soon.

After a long absence, Ganpro is bringing back the Ganbare☆Joshi brand for an entire show dedicated to that division. The last one happened in February 2020. It’s going in some unexpected directions though. Cherry is facing Shuichiro Katsumura in an intergender Jacket Match. The stipulation is going to be an annual event for Ganjo shows. The full rules of that match will be revealed soon.

There will also be an invasion from Gake no Fuchi Joshi because Miyako Matsumoto and Chris Brookes are being booked to appear. Also advertised are Yuna Manase, Moeka Haruhi, Asuka, HARUKAZE and Drew Parker.

Also Akito has the Young Communication Generation to keep him company. It’s Yuki Iino who is going out on his own for now. His destination is to beat Yuji Hino but what direction will he take to get there?

Takagi’s team gets their title match here. This will be the first defence for the current champions led by Shinya Aoki. Ueno And Okada Speak On UNIVERSAL Title, Barbed Wire Casket Match For Extreme Title

March 10, 2021

DDT “DAY DREAM BELIEVER 2021”, 14/03/2021
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

0. Under Match: Hideki Okatani Vs Toui Kojima
1. Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title – Top Of The Super Book 2021: Saki Akai Photo Book “Lip Hip Shake” (c), Saki Akai & Antonio Honda Vs The Young Bucks Autobiography “Killing The Business”, Danshoku Dieno & Keigo Nakamura
2. 4 Way Tag Match: HARASHIMA & Toru Owashi Vs Daisuke Sasaki & Mad Paulie Vs Konosuke Takeshita & MAO Vs Yuki Iino & Yukio Naya
3. Junretsu Vs Eruption!: Jun Akiyama & Makoto Oishi Vs Kazusada Higuchi & Yukio Sakaguchi
4. DDT Extreme Title – Barbed Wire Casket Death Match: Shunma Katsumata (c) Vs Chris Brookes
5. KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles: Akito, Kazuki Hirata & Shota (c) Vs Tetsuya Endo, Soma Takao & Yuji Hino
6. DDT UNIVERSAL Title: Yuki Ueno (c) Vs Yusuke Okada

A press conference was held in Shibuya’s Abema Towers today to promote two of the title matches taking place this Sunday. For the DDT UNIVERSAL Title match, Yusuke Okada is going into it thinking it is now or never. He is a freelancer and knows the day may come when DDT won’t book him again. This match is his turning point and he will risk his life to become champion. Yuki Ueno is feeling the pressure to be in the main event of a show containing four title matches. It’s a big main event for both because they both have less than five years of experience in the ring.

The feud between Shunma Katsumata and Chris Brookes has come to this. The grudge between them has gotten so bad they will now have a Barbed Wire Casket Death Match to end it once and for all! The winner of the match is whoever puts their opponent into the barbed wire casket and then closes the lid on top. Most weapons will be allowed, except for those the referee thinks are too dangerous. Brookes has some death match experience from his time wrestling in the UK so he thinks the stipulation works in his favour.

Brookes was present for the announcement and said Katsumata was too scared to show up. If he was Katsumata he wouldn’t run away but accept the embarrassment of losing the DDT Exteme Title in four days time. Brookes has won all of his previous singles matches against Katsumata in DDT. Brookes even won one of those matches on his own event the same day Katsumata became the Extreme Champion. He is motivated to win the Extreme Title because his tag partner Masahiro Takanashi is a former champion. Also this is Katsumata’s first singles title so Brookes would love nothing more than to take that from him. Brookes promises to make Katsumata feel the same way he did when Katsumata got his Twitter account banned.

A big surprise came for Brookes at the end when Super Hardcore Katsumata showed up! He attacked Brookes with party poppers, gave him a Low Blow and set off another party popper inside Brookes’ mouth. Katsumata then posed with the title belt with one foot pressing down on Brookes.

For the first time in 16 years DDT is hosting a tag team round robin tournament. The Ultimate Tag League 2021 will feature five teams competing across five shows in the month of May. The team with the most points at the end will be the winners but if there is a tie a final match will take place between them to break the deadlock. One of the shows on the schedule will be an empty arena show held on a date to be determined.
