2. Kazusada Higuchi, Saki Akai & MAO defeated Daisuke Sasaki, Chris Brookes & Hideki Okatani when MAO pinned Okatani with the Michinoku Driver II (12:46).
3. Tetsuya Endo & Ilusion defeated Akito & Yuya Koroku when Endo pinned Koroku with the Swivel Torture Rack Bomb (12:51).
4. Nagano Specialty Special 6-Man Tag Match – DRAGONGATE Rules: Yasushi Kanda, Toru Owashi & Kazuki Hirata defeated Danshoku “Dandy” Dieno, Yuki “Sexy” Iino & Antonio Honda when Kanda pinned Honda with the Diving Anal Elbow Drop (13:27).
5. HARASHIMA & Naomi Yoshimura defeated Yuji Hino & Yukio Naya when Yoshimura pinned Naya with a Lariat (14:05).
6. The 37KAMIINA Vs Junretsu!: Konosuke Takeshita, Shunma Katsumata & Yuki Ueno defeated Jun Akiyama, Yusuke Okada & Mizuki Watase when Takeshita submitted Watase with the Plus Ultra (21:48).

Mizuki Watase’s homecoming didn’t go the way he wanted it to. The main event ended with him submitted to Konosuke Takeshita. He was given some kudos by Takeshita afterwards and he is doing his best. But Takeshita also pointed out that everybody in DDT is doing their best. Jun Akiyama told the rest of Junretsu that they have to be more determined. He said that according to the unit’s leader, Junretsu will disband if they don’t win the KO-D 8-Man Tag Team Titles on 12th October. The leader Makoto Oishi wasn’t certain he said that so Akiyama made him decide if that is the ultimatum. Oishi confirmed they will split up if they lose.

The KO-D Tag Team Title challengers HARASHIMA & Naomi Yoshimura showed their strength as a team by beating Yuji Hino & Yukio Naya. They don’t have long to wait until they take on Takeshita & Shunma Katsumata for the belts.

The alleged big draw for this show was Yasushi Kanda. He and Toru Owashi go way back which is why Owashi wanted their tag match today to be a big occasion. He also told the production team not to play “TOKYO GO!” when Kanda was in the ring. Pheromones declared they were going to render DRAGONGATE useless which led to both teams agreeing to wrestle the match under DRAGONGATE tag rules. Kazuki Hirata tried to impress Kanda but made the mistake of putting on the Hirata Go glasses. As soon as “TOKYO GO!” hit, Kanda attacked Hirata and hit the John Woo Dropkick. He calmed down and took control of the match against Antonio Honda. After charging up his arm in Danshoku Dieno’s “Hell Gate”, Kanda pinned Honda with the Diving Anal Elbow Drop. Backstage Owashi and Kanda asked each other if they should bring Hirata over to DRAGONGATE.

Ilusion got some more ring time to prepare for the DDTeeeen!! show on 27th October. He thinks getting this extra experience while El Unicorn is absent gives him a big advantage for their match on the 27th. Tetsuya Endo gave approval to Ilusion’s comments.

Everybody on the DDT roster are still confused over Daisuke Sasaki’s sudden babyface turn. He is also studying Isami Kodaka for their DDT Universal Title match on Tuesday.

The newly babyfaced Daisuke Sasaki sent out the call. His planned DDT Universal Title match was cancelled so he is willing to defend the belt against anybody at Korakuen Hall next week. Isami Kodaka answered the challenge, offering to fight on behalf of his fellow Sento Minzoku stablemate Minoru Fujita. Kodaka also previously challenged Sasaki for the Universal Title in a Hardcore 3 Way Match last June. The heel Sasaki wouldn’t have taken this challenge. But he’s a babyface now so he is all for it and thinks it is destiny to fight Kodaka again. His goal is to deliver an exciting match, win fairly then wake up early tomorrow morning and shine in the sun.

Konosuke Takeshita’s goal for the rest of 2021 is to remain a double champion until the end of the year and to also win the D-Ou Grand Prix. He wants to finish the year with as many wins as he can get. HARASHIMA thinks DISASTER BOX needs to win the KO-D Tag Team Titles because championships are a symbol of strength. Shunma Katsumata pinned HARASHIMA to win the belt so he cannot lose it back to him. He also thinks Naomi Yoshimura isn’t as strong in tag matches as he is in singles. He is basing this opinion on their time wrestling each other in DNA.

Tetsu Inada will be at the show to do guest commentary. The voice actor previously had a starring role on the recent Hiragana Muscle shows.

Kikutaro got bored and started playing on his phone. When Matsui tried to stop him, Kikutaro knocked him out. Kamen then drew on Matsui’s face with a marker.

Unfortunately Minoru Fujita’s illness is not getting any better. He is currently in hospital and there is no timeframe for his recovery yet. His DDT Universal Title match with Daisuke Sasaki has been cancelled and a replacement match is currently being planned. DDT is hoping to do a singles match between Sasaki and Fujita in the future when Fujita is healed and able to wrestle again.

A press conference was held for Riho, Shoko Nakajima, Suzume and Arisu Endo to talk about their match. The Twin Cam Monsters are looking forward to teaming together again and to do so in a big venue. Suzume faced against that team in her debut match back in 2019. She has gotten a lot of experience since then but understands it is nothing compared to the experience levels Riho & Nakajima are at. Suzume was also the opponent for Endo’s debut match so she thinks they have the chemistry to make a good team. Nakajima doesn’t expect to lose but predicts Suzume & Endo can overtake the Twin Cam Monsters in the future. Riho also said she is looking forward to the main event because she hasn’t seen Maki Itoh since they wrestled each other in AEW.

What is next for Daisuke Sasaki? His unit is gone, he declined to enter the D-Ou Grand Prix and he has a DDT Universal Title defence coming up. Apparently he has something up his sleeve. It might just be more drink and depression though.

After an emotional weekend, Konosuke Takeshita wants to see a bright future while he holds both the KO-D Openweight Title and KO-D Tag Team Titles. His motivations for defending the KO-D Title on his own is different from defending the KO-D Tag Titles with Shunma Katsumata. He wants to pursue many different possibilities while being a double champion.

Yumiko Hotta pinned Shinya Aoki with the help of a steel chain during yesterday’s pre-show match. She challenged him for the DDT Extreme Title afterwards. Aoki wanted the match to take place at a RIZIN show because they both fought there in the past. They have to settle for DDT instead.

Hotta’s disciple Riko Kawahata approached Sanshiro Takagi asking to wrestle on a DDT show. Hotta was displeased to see her student go out of line this way but Takagi decided to give her a chance. After watching footage of Kawahata in action, Takagi thinks she has great potential so he is booking her to fight Saki Akai. Hotta had a change of heart after Takagi explained that Kawahata’s behavior is very All Japan Women’s like. She understands his point and is now supporting Kawahata’s decision to enter DDT. Takagi is hoping for the match to be successful in order to promote more joshi matches in DDT.

DDT has decided to rename the Under Match to the Dark Match. They originally started calling the pre-show bouts the Dark Match but at some point switched to Under Match for reasons nobody can remember. So they’re going back to calling it the Dark Match.

The youngster project now called DDTeeeen!! holds its first show with all four students taking part. El Unicorn and Ilusion are quickly establishing a rivalry together but the other two wrestlers are also familiar with each other. Vent Vert Jack and You-sei☆Estrella are both 16 years old and are from the MY WAY promotion in Kyushu. Jack is 16cm tall, weighs 61kg and once held the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title at 9 years old. Estrella is 173cm tall, weighs 66kg and is a month younger than Jack. They both had their debut match against each other in 2012.

The opening day matches of the D-Ou Grand Prix 2021 II have been announced. Takeshita meets Yuji Okabayashi for the first time since he won the KO-D Tag Titles from him. Since he is entering the tournament as the champion, Takeshita wants to fight every match as if it is a title match. That means he cannot stand to lose even one match.

I’ll have a proper D-Ou Grand Prix post written up when the full schedule is revealed.

The ultimate fate of DDT is possibly on the line if Pheromones win the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles. Their lewd antics could get DDT into so much trouble it could spell the end of the company if they are not stopped! It’s up to Sanshiro Takagi, Yusuke Okada and a third person to save the day. If they lose then Takagi cannot order Pheromones to stop their bad behavior.

Injuries from during the week cause some last minute changes to the card. Yuji Hino has an ankle injury and cannot wrestle for the time being. Naomi Yoshimura takes his place in Masahiro Takanashi’s return match.

Morning Musume member Haruna Iikubo will be accompanying the Humanity team as the character she plays in Record Of Ragnarok.

6. Shinshu! Chashu! Minanoshu! Nagano Specialty Special 6-Man Tag Match: Jun Akiyama, Makoto Oishi & Yusuke Okada defeated HARASHIMA, Yuki Iino & Keigo Nakamura when Oishi submitted Nakamura with the Fujiyama Knee Lock (18:09).

Despite being on the losing end of the main event, HARASHIMA got to do the Reverse Hurricanrana on Jun Akiyama. The landing reminds Akiyama of the Half Nelson Suplexes Kenta Kobashi used to do. It made him realize these preview matches are being fought like title matches themselves. When Junretsu won in the end, Makoto Oishi joked that the Nagano fans find it hard to believe he that he won in the main event. Akiyama said this is the first time he is wrestling in Nagano for DDT. He came here with the KO-D Openweight Title and he will still have it the next time he returns. Yusuke Okada said he would like to team with Junretsu in Nagano again even though he is not part of the unit. HARASHIMA thanked Yuki Iino & Keigo Nakamura for doing their best but said today’s result was out of his hands.

Soma Takao got under Yuki Ueno’s skin again by pouring a drink over his head during their match. He then did it again after the match was over. Ueno kicked Takao in response, grabbed the can and poured the remainder of the drink over Takao. The two then got into a fight that had to be broken up by the seconds at ringside. Takao claims he was only giving Ueno a drink as a kind gesture to make him stronger.

The Toru Owashi homecoming match was too normal for Hisaya Imabayashi’s tastes so he called it off after three minutes. Normally when they do a special match like this Kazuki Hirata immediately loses and Imabayashi has to restart the match. He thinks the fans love that spot so why aren’t they doing it here? He understands the wrestlers are worried the spot might get old but everyone always wants to see the same things! The match restarted and Antonio Honda quickly gave Hirata a School Boy. Suddenly, Mizuki Watase ran into the ring and broke the count. Imabayashi called off the match again and asked Watase what was wrong. Watase explained that Owashi’s hometown is 63 km away so he cannot be the hometown hero. Watase is closer to being a Nagano local than he is! He called the match a fraud that only exists to sell tickets. He rallied Akito, Hirata & Yukio Naya to his side and the match restarted with new teams. Danshoku Dieno didn’t have enough energy left to charge up Antonio Honda’s Gongitsune so Watase offered to perch himself on the turnbuckles in the Hell Gate position. He stayed there waiting while Honda got pinned by Hirata. When the match was over, Watase apologised to the fans and promised them exciting matches would happen after intermission.

Chris Brookes briefly became a double champion when he trapped Saki Akai in a Modified Octopus Stretch and the ref ended the match when Akai couldn’t respond. Brookes was rewarded with the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title but Akai confronted him after the match. After a scuffle, Akai hit Brookes with a High Kick and pinned him with the Quetzalcoatl to win back the belt. Backstage Akai said she never gave up so she shouldn’t have lost the title in the first place. No matter how many times she loses the belt, she will win it back so she can have her Title Vs Title match with Brookes in Korakuen Hall. Brookes said Akai used up her “1 in 100” chance of beating him today.

Shiori’s Graduation Match, This Weekend’s Shows Still On

A new state of emergency in Tokyo was declared today but it does not go into effect until 25th April. That means this weekend’s wrestling shows are going ahead as planned. I’ll have an update on the May schedule in a later post.

Miu Watanabe wants to bridge the gap between idols and wrestlers which makes her the perfect person for Arai to tag with. Arai promised she will do her best to get everyone’s approval. That kind of attitude doesn’t impress Itoh. She’ll see what Arai is like in the ring but she’s not excited about it.

The email was forwarded to BOYZ producer Akito and after some consideration he agreed to put the match together.

Tokyo Joshi Pro is launching a new series of English shows for WRESTLE UNIVERSE. Every week on Monday and Thursday mornings in Japan “THAT’S J-PW” will host an exclusive TJPW match filmed without an audience and a Q&A session, all presented in English. Chris Brookes & Baliyan Akki will provide commentary and the episodes will last around 15 minutes each. Tetsuya Koda explained the name has a double meaning. The J in “THAT’S J-PW” stands for both Japan and Joshi.

A criticism that has been aimed towards Nao Kakuta since she started wrestling for TJPW is that she is too normal to stand out. Even her challenge to Yuki Kamifuku for the International Princess Title was considered plain or even a bit boring according to the champion. Kakuta thinks it is fine to be normal. She can be called the Normal Of Normal Princess as far as she is concerned. Her other nickname is “Rat Chaser” (she used to have a catgirl gimmick) and she found her rat in the form of Kamifuku. All she has to do now is catch her! Kakuta also said that she has no senpai or kohai figures in TJPW because she came from somewhere else so she feels comfortable enough to stretch out and use her own fighting styles that she likes.
