CHIKARA “KING OF TRIOS 2018 – NIGHT TWO”, 01/09/2018
Palmer Center, Easton, Pennsylvania, USA
King Of Trios 2018 – Quarter Final: Miyu Yamashita, Shoko Nakajima & Yuka Sakazaki Vs Kikutaro, El Hijo del Ice Cream & Ice Cream Jr.
Over the weekend Tokyo Joshi Pro sent over three of their best to America so they can enter Chikara’s annual King Of Trios tournament in Easton, Pennsylvania. This year’s edition of the tournament was Star Wars themed so Miyu Yamashita, Shoko Nakajima & Yuka Sakazaki were called the Tokyo Joshi Freedom Fighters. On Night 1 they main evented the show by beating The Shimmer Collective of Madison Eagles, Shazza McKenzie, and Jessica Troy. Sakazaki pinned McKenzie with the Magical Magical Girl Splash. On Night 2, the Freedom Fighters won again by defeating The New Republic of Los Ice Creams and Kikutaro when Yamashita pinned Kikutaro with the Crash Rabbit Heat. Sadly on Night 3 the girls were eliminated in the semifinals by Australia’s Ancient Order of the Nations consisting of Mick Moretti, Jack Bonza, and Adam Hoffman. Nakajima was pinned by Hoffman after the Order used their version of the Anthill triple team finisher.

4. KO-D Openweight Title: Danshoku Dieno (c) Vs Daisuke Sasaki
Takagi and MAO’s feud this year has escalated from MAO hitting Takagi with a van to Takagi crashing a car into another car with MAO still inside. It all happened within the context of wrestling matches so somehow no crimes were caused. Funny how that works. The efforts of both men to prove that they are the craziest wrestler in DDT is getting too much for everyone else to handle so a final battle has to take place. The dreaded Weapon Rumble is what’s needed to determine who is crazier. MAO claims this is the match stipulation that made him want to be a DDT wrestler.
Meiko Satomura, Tanomusaku Toba, Keisuke Okuda and Maki Ito are all booked on the show.

6. KO-D Openweight Title: Danshoku Dieno (c) Vs Meiko Satomura
*Meiko Satomura will cash in her Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Gauntlet.
Danshoku Dieno is in rough shape going into tomorrow’s KO-D Openweight Title match. On Sunday’s show, Dieno revealed he wouldn’t endorse a match between himself and Shigehiro Irie because he secretly quit as the DDT Producer. Irie then damaged Dieno’s already injured right shoulder with an Inverted Armbreaker. So now Dieno has to defend his title against Meiko Satomura with a dodgy shoulder. Irie’s attack was out of anger of being tricked but it also inadvertently works in his favour because Satomura has said she would give him a title match if she becomes the champion. With that exception, tomorrow is currently the last scheduled KO-D Title defence before Sumo Hall in October unless the other Right To Challenge Gauntlet makes its way back to Japan. Saying who has it now would spoil a whole bunch of stuff elsewhere so would that be fair game for something that’s meant to be swept under the rug by DDT’s storyline anyway?

Regardless of tomorrow’s outcome, Meiko Satomura will be wrestling at the Sumo Hall show.

King of Trios Semi-Final: Icarus, Chuck Taylor & Johnny Gargano defeated Great Sasuke, Jinsei Shinzaki & Dick Togo when Icarus pinned Sasuke with a Small Package (16:13).
Current KO-D Openweight Champion Dick Togo was in America during the weekend for one of the biggest events on the indy wrestling calander, the Chikara King Of Trios tournament. Togo travelled to Philadelphia with fellow Japanese stars The Great Sasuke & Jinsei Shinzaki to enter the tournament and represent Michinoku Pro. They made it to the semi-finals, beating two highly hyped teams along the way. On Night 1 Team M-Pro defeated Team Minnesota in the main event, which marked Sean Waltman returning to his roots and becoming the 1-2-3 Kid once again. Togo claimed the pinfall over Darin Corbin to send his team through to Night 2. There, Team M-Pro went over Mike Quackenbush, Jigsaw & Manami Toyota. Reports have it that Togo had no problem beating up joshi legend Toyota when they were in the ring together. But just when it looked like the tournament was there for the taking, Team M-Pro were defeated by Chikara’s most hated Rudos, Team F.I.S.T. DVDs of the event will be available from Smart Mark Video very soon.
The current KO-D Openweight Champion is part of the latest team revealed to compete in this year’s Chikara King Of Trios tournament. Dick Togo will be forming Team Michinoku Pro with two of the promotion’s other famous stars, The Great Sasuke & Jinsei Shinzaki for the weekend of April 15th, 16th & 17th in Viking Hall The ECW Arena The XPW Arena The New Alhambra Arena The “Hey Let’s Just Call It ‘The Arena'” Arena The Asylum Arena, Philadelphia. Being arguably the highest profile team announced so far, you can bet this trio will be favourites to go all the way to the final, if not win the whole thing.
