*V2 for Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie.
8. KO-D Openweight Title: HARASHIMA defeated KUDO (c) with the Somato (23:13).
*KUDO fails in V3. HARASHIMA becomes the 48th KO-D Openweight Champion! HARASHIMA cashes in his Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract.

There is just no stopping HARASHIMA. He is now a 6 time KO-D Openweight Champion after defeating KUDO in a rematch of their “JUDGEMENT 2014” bout back in March. HARASHIMA cashed in his Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract to have this match and he is the second person to successfully get a championship for it. Masa Takanashi was the first but his cash in was on a weakened Sanshiro Takagi who had wrestled won the title moments before. Here the difference was HARASHIMA announced in advance he was cashing it on this day and KUDO was not wrestling anyone else. But no matter how much time KUDO had to prepare, HARASHIMA wound up being on top of the DDT mountain once again. There is no immediate challenger for the new champion due to the King Of DDT tournament beginning soon but two contracts are still in play. They are currently being held by Shigehiro Irie and Super Sasadango Machine.

It was a good day for Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie as they successfully defended the All Asia Tag Team Titles for the second time. Today they faced Yasu Urano & Akito from the newly formed Smile Squash faction. Irie says he wants to defend the belts more not just against DDT wrestlers but against All Japan teams too. But they are not interested in going after the KO-D Tag Team Championships right now. They waited so long to become the All Asia Champions that they are cherishing every moment they have with the belts.

Konaka Pale One and his brethren threatened to unleash a capsule monster into the arena but Ultraman Robin and his Robin Rangers came to the rescue. The two forces fought a foracious battle under Lucha Libre rules. Ultraman gained possession of the capsule and decided to use it on the Pale Ones. He threw it down to summon the monster but nothing happened. The match continued until Endo Pale One missed a Moonsault and Takagi Robin pinned him with La Magistral Cradle. Ultraman Robin checked the capsule after the match and came to the conclusion it was faulty. No matter, he protected Nagoya and that’s what matters. He threw away the capsule but then there was a bang. All of a sudden, Hirata Robin appeared from the capsule. Everyone looked at him in shock and then he danced.

The DDT Extreme Title was on the line in an Idol Lumberjack Death Match. Makoto Oishi brought along the idol group Sizukaze & Kizuna to stand by his side while the champion Masa Takanashi called up Emi Sakura and some of her Gatoh Move girls to do the same. Each of the lumberjacks were given a weapon they could use on the opponent whenever he wound up outside the ring but the items on offer were a little unbalanced. Oishi’s idols were all given plastic toy hammers, paper fans and wooden swords while Sakura brought along a barbed wire baseball bat! Oishi’s idols used their numbers advantage well, one of them trapped Takanashi in an Abdominal Stretch while all of the others whacked him with the hammers. Sakura did what she could to interfere including pulling the ref out of the ring when Oishi had Takanashi pinned for a three count. The interference finally backfired when a flying kick from Sakura aimed for Oishi was dodged and Takanashi was hit instead. Mizuno Haruko slapped Sakura out of the way and Oishi pinned Takanashi with the Tornado Clutch to become the new Extreme Champion!

Danshoku Dino revealed that he challenged Akitoshi Saito to a match in order to prove that Saito is gay. Saito denied it and called Dino an idiot. However he was interested in the Danshoku tights Dino was wearing, so much so that he stripped them off of Dino and put them on himself! Saito then Hip Thrusted Dino into the turnbuckles and gave him the Danshoku Driver to win the match. Dino approached Saito for a handshake and a kiss after the match but Saito immediately fled the ring.

Kota Ibushi had more important things to worry about today than an opening tag match in DDT. He was also scheduled to wrestle Tomohiro Ishii in a NEVER Openweight Title match over at Yokohama for New Japan. The New Japan match wasn’t taking place until the evening but Ibushi still needed time to travel, so he quickly and easily pinned Michael Nakazawa in the opener. Nakazawa’s team appealed for the match to restart and it was accepted by Ibushi’s team. Ibushi again won the match, this time pinning Guanchulo. After the match Ibushi and Kenny Omega said their goodbyes to Guanchulo and both raised his hands in the air.

0. Dark Exhibition Match: Gota Ihashi defeated Shun Miyatake with a German Suplex (3:33).
1. Makoto Oishi defeated Shunma Katsumata with the Miracle Ecstasy (6:05).
2. MIKAMI, Tomomitsu Matsunaga & Hoshitango defeated Antonio Honda, DJ Nira & Guanchulo when Matsunaga pinned Guanchulo with a Back Drop (8:27).
3. Special Single Match: Minoru Suzuki defeated Michael Nakazawa with the Gotch-Style Piledriver (8:22).
4. Akito, Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo defeated Keisuke Ishii, Shigehiro Irie & Soma Takao with the Kinniku Buster (13:03).
5. Falls Count Anywhere Match: Kota Ibushi, Kenny Omega & Daisuke Sasaki defeated Sanshiro Takagi, Toru Owashi & Kazuki Hirata when Ibushi pinned Hirata after the PK Heart (13:54).
6. DDT Extreme Title – 3 Times Fall Match: Masa Takanashi defeated Danshoku Dino (c) with a Leg Roll Clutch (13:48).
*Danshonu Dino fails in V2. Masa Takanashi becomes the 27th DDT Extreme Champion!
7. KUDO & Yukio Sakaguchi defeated HARASHIMA & Yasu Urano when KUDO pinned Urano with the Diving Double Knee Drop (16:13).

Akito found himself at a crossroads now that he is out of the KO-D Openweight Title picture. He could have gone back to teaming with Danshoku Dino & Makoto Oishi but he instead decided to do something new to become more powerful. What that was he didn’t reveal until after the main event. He approached the victorious Shuten-dōji with a can of beer in his hand. But just when it looked like he was about to have a toast with them he instead sprayed the beer in Masa Takanashi’s face! Akito then walked over to HARASHIMA and said they could make many dreams come true if they teamed together. HARASHIMA welcomed him to the team and he told Yasu Urano it was pretty nifty that Akito wanted to join them.

The DDT Extreme Title was up for grabs in a 3 Times Fall Match. The goal of the match is to pin your opponent for three seconds in a row. The catch is it did not have to happen in the same pinning attempt. For example at the start of the match Masa Takanashi quickly cradled Danshoku Dino for a two count. If Takanashi pinned Dino again he would just need a one count to win since he would have scored 3 seconds in a row. However quickly afterwards Dino pinned Takanashi for a two count, so Dino’s pin score was set back to zero while Takanashi was now in danger of losing. Takanashi was able to pin Dino to win the champiosnhip with a straight three count (pun not intended) when he countered the Gay-do Clutch into a Leg Roll Clutch. The new Extreme Champion then “honored” the former champ by calling him a “dumb bastard” and an “ugly fucking loser”. Makoto Oishi came to Dino’s aid and challenged Takanashi to a title match. Amon Tsurumi booked the match for Nagoya on 25th May. Oishi then said he wanted it to be the return of the Idol Lumberjack Death Match! Takanashi accepted and said he would have Emi Sakura on his side. Oishi mentioned she’s too mature to count as an idol but whatever.

Michael Nakazawa had a mountain to climb as he took on the no nonsense badass Minoru Suzuki. Nakazawa was convinced he could win and tried his best, he even attempted to summon his fighting spirit by getting into a chop battle. Suzuki wasn’t impressed and easily trapped Nakazawa in different submission holds. Every time Nakazawa was put in a hold he yelled “Impossible!” and wanted to give up. But Suzuki didn’t want the match to end so soon and he let go of his opponent just so he could apply more submissions. Suzuki eventually choked out Nakazawa with a Sleeper and was going to do the Gotch-Style Piledriver until Nakazawa tapped out before he was lifted off his feet. Suzuki didn’t care and he lifted up Nakazawa for the move until Yukinori Matsui stepped in and stopped him. When Nakazawa regained consciousness he asked Suzuki if they could team together. Suzuki shook Nakazawa’s hand but refused to let go. If Nakazawa wants to team with him so much then he’ll do it! In three months time they will team together. During those three months he’ll be training very hard and he wants Nakazawa to do the same so by the time they team up Nakazawa won’t be what he is now but he will instead become a hybrid wrestler! Suzuki already ordered Nakazawa to begin his first training session by doing 100 push ups right there in the ring. Nakazawa complained but Suzuki yelled that he summoned the demon instructor and must do what he says. Nakazawa could only do 10 push ups before collapsing. It’s going to be a long road ahead for him.

The Falls Count Anywhere Match was chaos. First of all, Kazuki Hirata did not appear with his team mates when they entered the ring. The match began with Sanshiro Takagi & Toru Owashi suffering a 3-on-2 Handicap disadvantage until Hirata finally appeared in the crowd dancing to Magnum TOKYO’s theme song. When he entered the ring, Owashi stopped the dancing by Shoulder Blocking his partner. Takagi dragged Kota Ibushi out of the ring and then attacked him with a kewpie doll. Ibushi defended himself by twisting Takagi’s arm over and over. Hirata threw Kenny Omega into a closing elevator and turned around thinking he was now gone. The elevator opened up and Kenny reappeared to School Boy Hirata for a nearfall. Takagi and Daisuke Sasaki brawled over to a place selling adult DVDs and they had a duel using the DVDs as swords. Ibushi got a bicycle!!! He cycled into Hirata’s crotch while Omega and Sasaki held him in place. A box of posters was then brought in and used to great effect. Ibushi did his best Steve Blackman impression and attacked Hirata with the rolled up posters. Omega then somehow used a poster to power up his Hadouken launching Hirata into Ibushi’s German Suplex. Omega then placed the cardboard box over Hirata’s head and with Sasaki performed the PK Heart to win the match. Afterwards Takagi talked about Minoru Suzuki training somebody as useless as Michael Nakazawa. Suzuki then walked out with Nakazawa and forced him to wheelbarrow down to the ring. Suzuki said he can turn a useless dickwad into a hybrid wrestler in three months. He then lifted up Nakazawa for a Gotch-Style Piledriver and forced him to do push ups from that position.

Danshoku Dino passed a message on to Guanchulo from his mother. Guanchulo wanted his mom to attend his final show for DDT on 20th May but according to her message she will be visiting China on that date. However, she will send another message that will be shown to Guanchulo on the 20th.

Shun Miyatake was again told he will not debut properly if he keeps losing so easily in his exhibition matches.

Akitoshi Saito will compete on the 25th May show. Danshoku Dino expressed interest in having a match with him that night.

The line-up for King Of DDT 2014 was revealed. The winner of the 16-man tournament gets a main event KO-D Openweight Title shot at Sumo Hall on 17th August. This year there will be three qualifying matches for tournament spots. Tomomitsu Matsunaga, Daisuke Sasaki, Akito, Soma Takao, Kazuki Hirata and Tetsuya Endo will have to wrestle each other in matches that will take place on the 17th, 25th and 29th of May. The rest of the field are Makoto Oishi, Keisuke Ishii, Konosuke Takeshita, MIKAMI, Masa Takanashi, Yasu Urano, Yukio Sakaguchi, Danshoku Dino, Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi and the loser of KUDO Vs HARASHIMA. Shigehiro Irie will not enter because he has a Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract.

Cherry announced the main event of her 10th Anniversary show on 1st June will be her against Aja Kong! They previously had a singles match on 13th November 2011 for Cherry’s “FANTASY ILLUSION” show. Cherry wrestled that match with a broken jaw so she was given a special rule where Jaiko Ishikawa was allowed to interfere and fight Kong. This time Cherry is in full health and she wants to face Kong under normal circumstances. Cherry also decided she will team with Danshoku Dino for her mixed tag match against Ladybeard & Saki Akai in Union on 18th May.

Antonio Honda announced a new match for his Anniversary show also on 1st June. It will be HARASHIMA, Riho & DJ Nira Vs Yuji Hino, Emi Sakura and The Great Kojika.

Poison Sawada JULIE revealed his intentions to prevent Sanshiro Takagi from retiring the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title. According to Sawada he possesses an ancient lighter from the Inca Empire which can be used to burn the championship belt. When burnt, a treasure map of Arica appears on the belt’s strap. If Takagi gets his way and retires the championship he will have the belt all to himself. Sawada does not want Takagi to discover the map and go after the ancient treasure so he travelled to an old hideout and searched for a certain item to help him. Even though the cave has become desolate over the years and many of his possessions are no longer kept there, he was able to find what he wanted. S Cells! These are potions that contain the power of Snake magic. Sawada then found Antonio Honda and used the S Cells to turn him into Snake Antonio! Now under Sawada’s spell, Antonio has been ordered to defeat Takagi at all costs and become the 1000th champion!

*Team Dream Futures fail in V2. The Golden Orchid become the 9th KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions!

A busy day in Saitama saw Kota Ibushi, Kenny Omega & Daisuke Sasaki quickly cement their place as the strongest three-man team in DDT as they are now the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions. Even though he only began teaming with the Golden Lovers a few weeks ago, Sasaki has blended in perfectly with him even being able to perform the Lovers’ PK Heart finisher with Omega. Danshoku Dino & Makoto Oishi approached the new champions after the match to express a title challenge for 29th April in Korakuen Hall. Their third partner for the match? Yoshihiko! Meanwhile the new champs are busy trying to come up with a new team name. Suggestions include the Golden Orchid, the Golden Bombers and the Golden Cabaret Club.

The result of the semi-main event could be a sign that a new KO-D Openweight Champion will be crowned at the end of the month. Akito tapped out the champion KUDO with a Scorpion Triangle submission. The challener’s confidence is now sky high and he said he has a dream to become champion. KUDO accepted the mistakes he made to lose the tag match and he has nothing to fear from Akito.

Danshoku Dino successfully defended the DDT Extreme Title in a Territorial Death Match. There was an extra cameraman inside the ring while Dino and Guanchulo wrestled. While applying a pin or submission, the wrestler in control had to look at the extra camera and say “Saitama Sumaru” for the pin or submission to count. Dino’s Lip Lock knocked out both the referee and the cameraman allowing Guanchulo to take advantage. But Dino turned the tables and delivered the Danshoku Driver to win. Dino placed the belt on Guanchulo after the match as a farewell gesture.

The Infomercial Match between Antonio Honda & Kazuki Hirata involved both men having to dance to songs and advertising jingles inbetween moments of wrestling. Honda won the match and by doing so won Hirata’s Right To Challenge contract. Honda now has possession of two of those contracts which allows him two KO-D Title shots whenever he wants. Amon Tsurumi stepped in to clarify that Honda will only defend one contract at a time. So if he gets pinned while holding both contracts he will lose only one of them.

The existence of the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title continues to be under threat while Sanshiro Takagi is the champion. The 999th champion successfully defended the belt in a Battle Royal and afterward tried to retire the belt again. The belt’s creator Posion Sawada appeared and said the belt will be sealed inside an ancient Inca Empire treasure map. Intrigued by the ancient treasure, Takagi asked Sawada for more information. Sawada will only give him more info if he keeps the belt active and defend it again on 29th April.

Emi Sakura was a little frustrated over how popular her opponent Saki Akai was. She fought a little dirty in their match and was able to win with La Magistral Cradle.

6. KUDO, Masa Takanashi & Tomomitsu Matsunaga defeated Akito, Tetsuya Endo & Konosuke Takeshita when KUDO pinned Endo with the Diving Double Knee Drop (15:55).
7. DDT Extreme Title – New York Rules: Danshoku Dino defeated HARASHIMA (c) with a Kissing Pin (12:05).
*HARASHIMA fails in V5. Danshoku Dino becomes the 26th DDT Extreme Champion!

Very few men can beat Danshoku Dino in a kissing contest. HARASHIMA found that out the hard way. The two fought in a New York Rules match for the DDT Extreme Title. In order to win you had to kiss your opponent as you pin them for the entire three seconds. HARASHIMA trained as much as he could but when it came to actually kissing Dino in the match, he couldn’t find the courage to do it. This came to be his downfall as he had victory in his hands when he flattened Dino with the Somato. But when HARASHIMA finally had to courage to do the kiss, Dino had enough time to recover and roll the champion into a Kissing Small Package for the three count! Dino now holds the Extreme Title for the sixth time in the title’s history.

Masa Takanashi has a new diet to make himself strong. He will go around Japan drinking the best liquor the country has to offer and that will somehow help him become the KO-D Openweight Champion. Bottoms up.

Trouble just seem to have a habit of finding Yukio Sakaguchi lately. After spending a month getting in fights with KUDO, trouble now seems to be brewing between Sakaguchi and Shigehiro Irie. The two came close to blows after Sakaguchi submitted Soma Takao in their tag team match.

The ring truck parked inside the building was featured in the 4 Way Match. Kota Ibushi tried to reverse the truck over Michael Nakazawa and also Moonsaulted off the truck onto everyone else.

This time around it was Antonio Honda who requested for Lucha Libre rules against Sanshiro Takagi’s team. Unfortunately the Monster Army’s record in Lucha Libre continues to be poor as Takagi avoided the Diving Fist Drop and pinned Honda with La Magistral Cradle. Toru Owashi told the fans afterwards that they will do more and more Lucha Libre matches around Japan. Viva Mexico!

Gota Ihashi replaced Guanchulo in the opener because of an injury Guanchulo suffered during training a few days ago.

DDT “ROAD TO RYOGOKU IN HIROSHIMA ~ DRAMATIC DREAM TOUKASAN”, 01/03/2014
Hiroshima Industrial Hall West Exhibition Hall

1. DDT Extreme Title – New York Rules: HARASHIMA (c) Vs Danshoku Dino

Much like the KO-D Openweight Division, there has not been a strong contender for the DDT Extreme Title lately. Danshoku Dino stepped up and challenged HARASHIMA for a title shot in his home prefecture of Hiroshima. Dino wants the match to be under New York Rules, an idea he got when he wrestled MEN’S Teioh back in 2007. Under New York Rules you must kiss your opponent while pinning him to win. HARASHIMA accepted the rules and said he will go through special training for the match. He will go into the woods to search for a hibernating bear to kiss. He will then build a snowman and use that for more intense kissing training. When he watched Dino wrestle MEN’S Teioh all those years ago, he felt a chill down his spine. But he knows he cannot back down now and will train hard to beat Dino.

package-for-amon

During the announcement of the match, a courier approached Amon Tsurumi claiming to have a package he needed to sign for. But just when Tsurumi was about to sign it, HARASHIMA noticed something was wrong and took the piece of paper from him. The paper turned out to be a contract for the HARASHIMA Vs Masa Takanashi KO-D Openweight Title match on 23rd February. According to the contract, the match would be fought under handicap rules with HARASHIMA needing to pin Takanashi for five seconds to win while Takanashi would only need to pin HARASHIMA for one second. Tsurumi caught the courier and she was revealed to be Sayaka Obihiro!

Takanashi entered the room to rescue his friend while Tsurumi yelled at him for trying to trick him into signing another contract. But Takanashi had a backup plan, he had the key for DDT’s ring truck! Tsurumi began to panic and asked if Takanashi was going to sell off the truck, the ring, the sound system or even the chairs. Takanashi said he was found something more important than any of those things, the championship belts! He was going to steal the belts and become champion without having to fight anybody. Takanashi began taunting Tsurumi until HARASHIMA simply grabbed the keys and gave them back to Daisuke Kiso, who explained they were stolen from him while he was stuck in Yokohama yesterday. Their plan foiled, Takanashi and Obihiro needed a distraction so Obihiro bit her tongue and Takanashi yelled for an ambulance as they fled.

7b. Cliff Death Match: Keisuke Ishii defeated HARASHIMA with a Frankensteiner from the apron to the floor (7:27)
7c. 5 Count Match: HARASHIMA defeated Keisuke Ishii with the Somato (13:48).
*V4 for HARASHIMA.

HARASHIMA overcame some odd handicaps to defeat Keisuke Ishii in today’s main event. With the DDT Extreme Title on the line, the match was 2 out of 3 Falls with each fall having a different stipulation. Fall 1 had both wrestlers compete with their hands taped to the side of their bodies. Fortunately for both men, their respective finishers did not need use of their arms. But it was HARASHIMA who dodged the Kneel Kick and flattened Ishii with the Somato to win the first round. Fall 2 was a Cliff Death Match as chosen by Ishii, who is a big fan of spots where you throw a wrestler from the apron to the floor. This round went quick because they immediately went to the apron to achieve their goal. Ishii won through with a Frankensteiner, sending HARASHIMA crashing onto the floor outside. Amon Tsurumi announced the final fall would be won when somebody is pinned for five seconds. Ishii came close to victory with a Tiger Suplex and Kneel Kick both getting four count nearfalls. The Somato once again proved to be the difference maker and HARASHIMA kept his championship.

Masa Takanashi had two reasons he needed to beat Yasu Urano. The first was to get back his Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title and the second was a win over Urano would make him No. 1 Contender for the KO-D Openweight Title. Amon Tsurumi originally refused to give Takanashi a shot at HARASHIMA and made himself the referee to insure it would not happen. Tsurumi constantly got in the way to ruin Takanashi’s momentum and Urano eventually won the match. After the match Amon asked if Takanashi wanted to give up chasing after the title and he sadly said yes.

However, Takanashi showed up at the end of the show challenging HARASHIMA to a KO-D Title match. He even had a contract signed by Tsurumi granting him the match. Tsurumi said it was fake until Takanashi showed him a video he recorded a few days ago. In the video Tsurumi was seen drinking lots of beer with Emi Sakura and Sayaka Obihiro from Gatoh Move. Sakura handed a sheet of paper to a drunk Tsurumi and asked him to sign it, which he did. That piece of paper turned out to be a contract that allowed Masa Takanashi to face HARASHIMA in a KO-D Title match at Korakuen Hall on 23rd February! Back in the arena, Tsurumi apologised to HARASHIMA for what happened but the champion welcomes the challenge.

The Golden Lovers can now without a doubt call themselves the KO-D Tag Team Champions after beating the previous title holders. Isami Kodaka & Yuko Miyamoto took their defeat gracefully and shook hands with Kota Ibushi & Kenny Omega while appealing for one more match. They also said they have now graduated from DDT during a backstage interview. Ibushi & Omega now have to prepare for a very different team, the Brahman Brothers! They were shown a video of the Brahmans challenging them to a match but the way they spoke was difficult to understand. Kenny asked what were they talking about? Ibushi simply said “Insects.” The Golden Lovers Vs Brahman Brothers will take place on 23/2.

KUDO Vs Yukio Sakaguchi was booked for 23/2 after they had to be pulled apart at the end of Match #3.

7. KO-D Openweight Title: HARASHIMA (c) Vs Shigehiro Irie

DDT held a press conference at the TEC Offices in Shinjuku to promote HARASHIMA’s next two title defences. First up is the KO-D Openweight Title match versus Shigehiro Irie. The rematch of last year’s Peter Pan main event is something that has been on Irie’s mind for a while. He felt great frustration over losing the title and wants to get rid of that by winning it back. HARASHIMA told Irie that kind of frustration is a good thing because it encourages him to become a stronger human being.

1. DDT Extreme Title – Best 2 Out Of 3 Falls: HARASHIMA (c) Vs Keisuke Ishii
*Fall 1: Feet Only Death Match. Fall 2: Cliff Death Match. Fall 3: To Be Determined by Amon Tsurumi.

The press conference continued with the appearance of Keisuke Ishii, who immediately attacked HARASHIMA. Tempers calmed down and the two were able to continue the conference as if nothing happened. HARASHIMA decided the rules for their upcoming DDT Extreme Title match in Nagoya. After wrestling Antonio Honda in a Blindfold Bra Match where he had to rely on just his hands, HARASHIMA now wanted to see what it was like to wrestle with just his feet. So for the match, both men will have their hands tied together and will have to rely on their legs to wrestle. However, Ishii had an idea of his own. He wanted to have a Cliff Death Match where you have to do a move from the ring apron to the floor in order to win. Ishii is a big fan of apron spots. He even has a Top 3 all time favourite apron spots. His Top 3 apron spots are:

3. Akira Taue giving Kenta Kobashi the Dynamic Bomb from the apron to the floor (21st March, 1995).
2. Kenta Kobashi giving Jun Akiyama a Brainbuster from the apron to the floor (10th July, 2004).
1. Mitsuharu Misawa giving Kenta Kobashi the Tiger Suplex from the stage walk to the floor (1st March, 2003).

Amon Tsurumi decided that both rules will be used in a 2 out of 3 Falls match. Fall 1 will be HARASHIMA’s Feet Only Death Match and Fall 2 will use Ishii’s Cliff Death Match rules. The rules for a possible third fall will be created by Tsurumi the day before the show.

mioshirai-4contracts

Mio Shirai had been spending the last week teasing a very important announcement. Rumours going around the Japanese wrestling scene included Mio announcing her retirement, a marriage engagement or even a pregnancy. Instead the big reveal was Mio had signed a contract and will end to her status as a freelancer. However, it turned out that Mio was signing a contract with not one, not two, not even three but four different wrestling companies. Taking a cue from Kota Ibushi, Shirai signed contracts with Pro Wrestling WAVE, Oz Academy, Ice Ribbon and Union.

After wrestling for seven years, Mio felt it was time to form an afilliation with one of the companies she works for. However she couldn’t decide who to choose. Inspired by Ibushi’s dual contract with DDT and New Japan, Shirai was inspired to do the same and wanted to be with the promotions she enjoyed working for most. Union boss Naomi Susan said she was very surprised to hear about Mio’s idea at first but is happy that she chose Union to be one of the companies. Since the Union roster is mostly filled with men, Susan hopes Mio’s signing will begin an expansion of Joshi in Union. Mayumi Ozaki said she was the only person in Oz Academy who knew about Mio’s plans. Ice Ribbon’s Tsukasa Fujimoto is amazed at the idea and thinks it is a boost that comes just in time for Mio to replace Hikaru Shida, who will be leaving the company in March. WAVE’s Mikiko Futagami (formerly known as GAMI) is expecting more merchandise sales to come from this signing and pointed out she might be actually working for 5 or 6 companies if you include her Osaka Joshi shows.

Mio’s first show with Union under the contract will be at Yokohama on 11th February.
