B Block Standings

1. Ryota Nakatsu (2)
-. Mike Bailey (2)
-. Mizuki Watase (2)
4. Guanchulo (0)
-. Daiki Shimomura (0)
-. Nobuhiro Shimatani (0)

Day 1 of the DNA Grand Prix did not end happily for Guanchulo. He came out wearing a Shunma Katsumata t-shirt and even used his Double Stomp to try and beat Ryota Nakatsu. But a Head Kick, German Suplex and Cross Armbreaker put an end to any hope that the power of friendship would save the day. Nakatsu thinks Mike Bailey is the only one in his group that will give him a challenge.

MAO’s quick attack on Kouki Iwasaki to start their match gave him the edge. He hit the Alien Plancha then seated him on a chair for the John Woo Dropkick. Back in the ring Iwasaki tried to wear down MAO with an Anklelock but MAO rolled out of it and stunned him with a High Screw Kick. A modified Rock Bottom and the Cannonball 450 earned MAO his first two points. MAO is aware that his knee will be targeted by his opponents.

In his official debut match Yuki Ueno had the unenviable task of wrestling Kazusada Higuchi. Ueno at one point knocked Higuchi off his feet with a Dropkick and even put him in a Crab Hold. Higuchi fought back with the Oklahoma Stampede and Nodowa Otoshi for nearfalls. Ueno got a two count of his own with a Frog Splash but a Doctor Bomb from Higuchi ended the match afterwards. Higuchi described the match as him welcoming Ueno to DNA.

Mike Bailey avoided an Asai DDT en route to beating Daiki Shimomura. Bailey says the tournament running for 5 consecutive days is like running a marathon. He wants to continue running until the end.

For his first match in Japan, Royce Isaacs was too powerful for Rekka to handle. He countered a Triangle Choke into a Turnbuckle Bomb then followed with a German Suplex into a Rock Bottom. Isaacs said he didn’t come to DNA to make friends. He came to test his strength. He wants to compare his power with Higuchi’s power. Rekka felt like all of his ability and technique were useless against Isaacs.

Mizuki Watase opened up the tournament with a win over Nobuhiro Shimatani. He hit a big Back Drop for the three count. Watase knows that he has a long way to go this week. His priority is to avoid losing against Nakatsu.

Shunma Katsumata was in attendance to say he will return from injury at “DDT FES 2016” in November.

1. Ryuichi Sekine defeated Daiki Shimomura with the Let’s Combine (7:49).
2. Keisuke Ishii defeated Rekka with the Tiger Suplex (8:00).
3. NωA Sub-Leader Playoff: MAO defeated Makoto Oishi with the Chile Driver (6:25).
4. Same Grade Of Claim: Konosuke Takeshita defeated Nobuhiro Shimatani with a Vertical Drop Brainbuster (11:03).
5. Hardcore Match: Jun Kasai defeated Mizuki Watase with the Pearl Harbour Splash (12:12).
6. Road To DNA-GP: Kazusada Higuchi & Shunma Katsumata Vs Guanchulo & Kouki Iwasaki ended in a Time Limit Draw (30:00).

As the show name suggests this is the last DNA show held in Kitazawa Town Hall for now while the building goes through renovations for the next 18 months. That means the hall won’t be available until 2018. At the end of the show all of the DNA wrestlers lined up to say goodbye to the building that supported the brand since its very first show in 2014. Kazusada Higuchi said he has many memories of hard work and a hot summer wrestling in the building.

The main event took both teams to their limit and a winner could not be decided. Guanchulo gave Higuchi the Death Valley Bomb then Shunma Katsumata caught Guanchulo with the Swan Dive X Factor. Kouki Iwasaki locked a Triangle Choke on Higuchi but he powered out of it and hit a Lariat in the final seconds before the time expired.

If fighting Jun Kasai wasn’t bad enough, Mizuki Watase now had to fight the Crazy Monkey in a Hardcore Match! And it was his idea! Kasai was kind enough to let Watase start off with a chair but it didn’t take long for that object to be used against him. Kasai turned the match into a ringside brawl where he Body Slammed Watase onto the floor and scratched at his pretty face. Kasai brought out a table but Watase suddenly began throwing chairs at Kasai to stop him. Watase placed Kasai on top of the table and hit a Diving Body Press through it! Back in the ring Watase kicked out of the Reverse Tiger Driver but couldn’t kick out of the Pearl Harbour Splash. Watase said he wanted to have a Hardcore match so he could get a taste of Kasai when he’s at 100%. He described it as mortifying but delicious.

Konosuke Takeshita gave a lot of praise to the DNA wrestlers after his match with Nobuhiro Shimatani. Everybody from Higuchi to Rekka have been working hard. He said he feels Kota Umeda’s frustration from getting injured before the DNA Grand Prix. He wished Shimatani luck and hopes the next time they face each other, Shimatani will be the Grand Prix champion.

The NωA leader was already determined a while ago. That’s Shunma Katsumata. However the other two members decided to fight over who gets to be the sub-leader of the band. MAO hit a modified Tombstone called the Chile Driver to beat Makoto Oishi. Although he won the match MAO’s right knee was targeted a lot and he now worries if its current condition will harm his chances going into the Grand Prix.

The DNA Grand Prix group draws were revealed. Block A contains Kazusada Higuchi, Kouki Iwasaki, MAO, Rekka, Yuki Ueno and Royse Isaacs. Ueno’s debut match will be against Higuchi. Block B has Shunma Katsumata, Guanchulo, Mizuki Watase, Daiki Shimomura, Nobuhiro Shimatani and Mike Bailey. Shimatani is determined to do anything for the one way ticket to New York. His generation rival Shimomura pointed out he is on a two match winning streak against Shimatani. Watase claims he has the most experience in his group thanks to his DNA matches with Shinjiro Otani, Yuko Miyamoto and now Jun Kasai. Guanchulo warned Katsumata that although they are amigos, they are now also rivals in the same block.

ishikawa-giantslam-higuchi

On his 41st birthday, Shuji Ishikawa went head to head with Kazusada Higuchi in his first KO-D Openweight Title defence. They immediately charged each other with Lariats and Shoulder Blocks to start the match. Ishikawa was knocked out of the ring and Higuchi surprised everyone by doing a Plancha onto the champion. They traded chops back and forth around the ring before continuing the exchange back inside. Ishikawa targeted Higuchi’s neck by applying a modified Camel Clutch over the ropes. Higuchi avoided a Brainbuster and lifted Ishikawa up for an Oklahoma Stampede. More Lariats were thrown followed bt an exchange of German Suplexes and Back Drops. That left both wrestlers out on the mat. Higuchi got up first and did a Choke Slam for a nearfall. Ishikawa applied an Iron Claw. Higuchi was unaffected by it so Ishikawa Headbutted him while he was in the hold, forcing Higuchi to reach for a rope break. Higuchi replied to another Headbutt by hitting Ishikawa with a Jumping Knee. He then hit the Goten but took too long to pin Ishikawa so he only got a two count. Ishikawa turned the tables with the Fire Thunder Driver. He followed with a volley of Running Knee Lifts but couldn’t lift Higuchi up for the Giant Slam. Higuchi countered the move into the Doctor Bomb but Ishikawa kicked out at 2.9! Higuchi Headbutted Ishikawa to the ropes but was stopped in his tracks with more Knee Lifts. This time Ishikawa successfully performed the Giant Slam and that was enough to put Higuchi away. After the match Ishikawa told Higuchi to eat more rice and practice harder if he wants to be the champion. Ishikawa was about to thank the fans for coming when Daisuke Sasaki kicked him aside and grabbed the mic. Sasaki called Higuchi a B Class Wrestler who should go back to sumo. Higuchi gave Sasaki the middle finger as he walked away from the ring. Ishikawa’s next title defence will be against the DDT Dramatic General Election runner-up on 23rd October, then the winner of the election on 4th December. Ishikawa was about to thank everyone again when Sasaki again interrupted him so the rest of DAMNATION could wish him a happy birthday.

yankeesmile-beats-damnation

DAMNATION’s other title match did not get them the same result. Daisuke Sasaki & Tetsuya Endo challenged Smile Yankee for the KO-D Tag Team Titles but ended up on the losing side. Yuko Miyamoto took out Endo’s dive with a Dropkick then gave Sasaki the Fire Thunder. HARASHIMA followed up with the Somato for the victory. Smile Yankee were really positive about their successful defence. They don’t know who they will face next but they hope it is a strong pair of challengers.

ueno-exhibition

The newest DNA rookie Yuki Ueno participated in a two minute exhibition match with Akito during intermission. His proper debut will take place when the DNA Grand Prix begins on 17th October.

takayama-stands-tall

Konosuke Takeshita faced off with Yoshihiro Takayama to begin the 6-Man Tag Match. Takeshita’s attempts to work on Takayama’s arm ended in failure when Takayama Hammer Punched him. Takeshita later got the upper hand by Suplexing Takayama. Antonio Honda tried to distract his opponents by talking about “Gon, the Little Fox” and the new Godzilla movie. Takayama Hammer Punched him too. Honda set him up for a Bionic Elbow but was cut off with a Big Boot. Dick Togo gave Honda the Pedigree then Takayama finished him off with the Everest German Suplex. Takeshita was feeling heated after wrestling against Takayama. He doesn’t like Takayama’s attitude and thinks he looks down on the DDT wrestlers. Takeshita’s priority is no longer winning back the KO-D Title. It is now to fight Takayama!

episode-of-japanese-blind-date

Love was in the air for the 5 Way Ladder Match to determine LiLiCo’s fiancee. Well not love, fame more like it. A marriage report was held over the ring and the wrestlers entered Korakuen Hall to the “Wedding March” and wearing bowties. LiLiCo then appeared to “The Final Countdown” wearing a wedding dress and sat at ringside to watch the match. It begun under Scramble Bunkhouse rules so every wrestler had to stand at different locations around the hall and race to the ring when the bell rang. Mizuki Watase, Bernard Ackah and Makoto Oishi made it to the ring first and argued over who should get the contract. While this was happening Super Sasadango Machine arrived and set up the ladder himself. Both Watase and Oishi teamed up to knock him off the ladder. Danshoku Dino fighting on behalf of Suguru Miyatake was the last to enter and he fought with Ackah. There were constant moments of wrestlers climbing the ladder only to get knocked down. Ackah had the chance to win but he couldn’t grab the contract with his boxing gloves. Watase knocked him off the ladder and climbed up to win back his love. Unfortunately Dino also got up there and put Watase in the Lip Lock. Dino then grabbed the contract. Miyatake now has the right to marry LiLiCo! Watase tried to protest the result but Oishi slammed him with the Miracle Ecstasy, Sasadango dropped him with the Lehmann Shock and Dino drilled him the Danshoku Driver. Dino told him to accept that Miyatake now gets to marry LiLiCo. Except Miyatake doesn’t want to. Miyatake thought there was no chance Dino would win and he only wants to get married if he’s in love. But he has not true love for LiLiCo. He apologised, admitted he doesn’t love her and then ran off like a scared rabbit. Amon Tsurumi blamed Dino for causing this mess and told him it’s now his responsibility to marry LiLiCo! Sanshiro Takagi came out and blamed the situation on Yukinori Matsui for bad officiating! Dino, Tsurumi, Takagi and Matsui then got together and came up with a solution. They will each go find a candidate, bring them to Kasukabe on 8th October and then determine which one will be LiLiCo’s new boyfriend.

chikara-dark

Chikara has KENSO to thank for getting rid of the King Of Dark Title. KENSO spent most of the match hitting his opponents with Harite Slaps while yelling “Do not stand out from me!” He became useful when he hit a Diving Elbow Drop on Nobuhiro Shimatani. That gave Chikara the chance to hit the Sabre Chop to win the match and pass the cursed title over to Shimatani.

More musical acts were announced for “DDT FES 2016” in November. Lady Beard was among the acts mentioned. There was then an appearance by an LED Electro group called CTS. They are a trio of DJs who were crazy looking LED helmets and they were also accompanied by SteCase King from Kinnikuman.

Ken Ohka was given time to promote Ganbare☆Wrestling’s first ever Korakuen Hall show on 2nd October. Ohka informed everyone of the stipulation that if the show does not sell out he must retire. A seating chart then appeared on the screen behind him showing many seats were still available. Amon Tsurumi told Ohka that he will definitely retire. Ohka said there is still a week left to sell tickets and the main event is a big once in a lifetime No Rope Barbed Wire Match involving Atsushi Onita.

*V1 for Soma Takao.
6. HARASHIMA, Yuko Miyamoto & Kazusada Higuchi defeated Daisuke Sasaki, Shuji Ishikawa & Mad Polly when Higuchi pinned Polly with the Goten (16:03).
7. Special Single Match: Tetsuya Endo defeated Konosuke Takeshita with the Sky Twister Press (22:13).

A clash of former best friends headlined DDT’s annual “OSAKA BAYS BLUE SPECIAL” in Osaka Edion Arena #2. In fact, Tetsuya Endo’s turn to DAMNATION began because he couldn’t beat Konosuke Takeshita for the KO-D Openweight Title back in July. With a new, darker attitude Endo took his chance to redeem himself. Daisuke Sasaki gave a helping hand early when he swept Takeshita’s leg as he rebounded from the ropes. Endo himself hit some big moves like a No Touch Topé and a Hand Spring Kneel Kick. But Takeshita fired back with a Blue Thunder and a Turnbuckle Bomb. Endo tried to do the Torture Rack Bomb but Takeshita countered it into a Sleeper Hold. Takeshita went for his German Suplex finisher but Endo landed on his feet. This time he hit the Torture Rack and followed with the Sky Twister Press to finally get that victory over Takeshita. After the match Endo told Takeshita that this was reality. He thanked Sasaki for giving him the chance to show his true worth. Sasaki said he and Endo will win the KO-D Tag Team Titles, then Shuji Ishikawa will beat Kazusada Higuchi to keep the KO-D Title. Add in the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles and soon all KO-D belts will be under their control. DAMNATION will conquer DDT!

HARASHIMA could hardly wait to get his hands on DAMNATION in the 6-Man Tag match. After a quick ringside brawl HARASHIMA and Higuchi teamed up to take on Ishikawa. The champion and his challenger fired back and forth until they were both spent and laid out. However Higuchi got his second wind when fighting Mad Polly and slammed Sasaki’s pet with a big Goten for the three count. Higuchi warned Ishikawa that the same will happen to him on 25th September. Higuchi then told the Osaka crowd he will be the champion when DDT returns to the city.

Soma Takao successfully completed his first defence of the AJPW Jr. Title with a win over Kazuki Hirata. Takao’s opponent had spent the last month trying to prove he was taking this match seriously, ditching his dancing antics during his bouts. A Mad Splash got him close to winning but his Egoist Driver was countered into a Reverse DDT. Takao then won with the Gin And Tonic. Hirata sat and bowed to Takao and he got a pat on the shoulder in return. Takao said in his victory speech that he wants to be a strong champion whether it’s in DDT or elsewhere in Japan.

KUDO took time to appreciate being able to wrestle again. He told the crowd this was the first time in a year that he wrestled in Osaka. His knees have recovered steadily and he wants to show more and more strength when he comes back to Osaka next month.

During the 3 Way Tag Match Yoshihiko betrayed its tag partner Antonio Honda! It dove onto Danshoku Dino but was caught and put in the Lip Lock for a long time. The kiss convinced Yoshihiko to join Dino’s side and it gave Honda a Choke Slam. It then performed a Spinning Headscissors that threw Honda into the Danshoku Driver. When the match was over Dino was informed he will defend the DDT Extreme Title in Sapporo on 10th October. His opponent? Sanshiro Takagi! With DDT’s 20th Anniversary approaching Takagi is looking back through the company’s history to find a match for him and Dino. He found just the one, the Dai Ichin Pa-Lien Seiha Match! Dino thinks Takagi is sick because he spends so much time managing different companies. So it is up to Dino as the Wrestling Mentalist to cure him.

Kota Ibushi, Kuishinbo Kamen and Kikutaro were announced for “OSAKA OCTOPUS 2016” in Osaka Edion Arena #1 on 4th December.

7. DDT Extreme Title – Hiroshima Toyo Rules: Danshoku Dino (c) defeated Keisuke Ishii with a Lip Lock (11:37).
*V1 for Danshoku Dino.

To celebrate the Hiroshima Toyo Carp baseball team winning the Central League pennant for the first time in 25 years, Danshoku Dino decided to base the DDT Extreme Title match rules on the team’s history and achievements. During the match every second of a pinfall will be added together. Whoever is doing the pin on the 25th total second will win the match. Other ways to win were to name the ten most recent managers of the Hiroshima baseball team or name at least ten foreigners who played for the team. The match began with Dino and Keisuke Ishii trading two count pins. Dino then got to pin Ishii for 5 more seconds after doing multiple pins and also the Danshoku Nightmare. The count went up to 11 when Ishii pinned Dino with a Diving Senton, then up to 13 after a Missile Dropkick. Dino put Ishii in the Lip Lock and pinned him for two seconds. Ishii then Kangaroo Kicked Dino for another two count, then brought the count up to 24 with a Fisherman Suplex, the Kneel Kick and a Tiger Suplex. Dino avoided a Brainbuster but could not hit the Danshoku Driver. Ishii tried to roll him over for the final pin count but Dino caught him in another Lip Lock and scored the winning 25th second pinfall. After the match Dino remembered they could have named the managers and foreign players instead of wrestling so he listed them off. Dino thanked Ishii for helping him create a nice memory for such a historic day in the city. They then led the fans in chanting for the team to end the show.

Konosuke Takeshita said he had a strange feeling while wrestling Dick Togo. It was amazing and intense and he wants to do it again. Antonio Honda said Togo hasn’t changed even though he last wrestled against him five years ago.

As DAMNATION entered the ring for their match, Shuji Ishikawa held the KO-D Openweight Title belt in Kazusada Higuchi’s sight. The two looked ready to face off when Tetsuya Endo stepped in wanting to start the match. Higuchi then stepped back and Yoshihiro Takayama took his place. Endo and Daisuke Sasaki tagged back and forth while trying to weaken Takayama with Low Kicks. DAMNATION were able to keep the two larger opponents away while Sasaki tapped out Kouki Iwasaki to win. Ishikawa began a promo about how both he and the Hiroshima Toyo Carp were both champions but Sasaki kicked him aside and cut him off to brag about DAMNATION’s dominance. He called both Higuchi and Takayama “Dwarf Motherfuckers”.

After yesterday’s defeat, Kazuki Hirata bounced back by pinning Soma Takao in another tag match. Hirata now thinks he has the momentum going into Osaka for the AJPW Jr. Title match. He thinks he has turned everyone’s expectations around.

3. Rainbow Kawamura Last DNA Match: Danshoku Dino defeated Rainbow Kawamura with the Raw Danshoku Driver (9:35).

5. Road To DNA-GP: Shunma Katsumata defeated Mizuki Watase with the Swan Dive X Factor (11:23).
6. Road To DNA-GP: Kazusada Higuchi & Guanchulo defeated Kota Umeda & Kouki Iwasaki when Guanchulo pinned Umeda with the Seijo Scratch (10:34).

With the DNA Grand Prix around the corner many of the wrestlers on the show were motivated to fight at full strength. Guanchulo got the upset pin over Kota Umeda in the main event when he ducked a Buzzsaw Kick and got Umeda’s shoulders on the mat with the Seijo Scratch. Umeda protested the result and said he kicked out but it stood. Guanchulo thanked Kazusada Higuchi for helping him win and praised his opponents for being strong. He said the DNA Grand Prix is his chance to show what he’s got. He also wants a singles match against Higuchi.

Rainbow Kawamura’s final match for DNA as against Danshoku Dino and it was as pervy as you’d expect. Daisuke Kiso was caught in the middle and took the brunt from both wrestlers. Kawamura sprayed him in the eyes with his disinfectant then Dino made him pass out with the Lip Lock. Kawamura wound up getting stripped out of his wrestling gear and everyone found out he was wearing lingerie underneath. One Lip Lock and Danshoku Driver later brought an end to the match and to Rainbow Kawamura. Dino told Kawamura to stand back up and give his farewell speech. It was interrupted when a crying Dai Suzuki ran in and hugged Kawamura. Suzuki said they walked through their twists and turns together but suddenly that won’t happen anymore. Higuchi appeared and mentioned how surprised he was when Kawamura sent him a LINE message saying he was quitting DNA. Even though Kawamura missed a lot of shows because of an injury, Higuchi still treats him as his senior. He hopes Kawamura will work as hard in BASARA as he did in DNA. Kawamura thanked the staff for letting him wrestle Dino in his last match. From tomorrow, he is now a part of BASARA.

Shunma Katsumata’s goal for the Grand Prix is to go undefeated for the entire tournament.

In the opening match Nobuhiro Shimatani was able to avoid Daisuke Sasaki’s Now Or Never but a Dropkick from Sasaki immediately afterwards was enough to end the match. Shimatani’s next DNA match is against Konosuke Takeshita on 30th September. The main event of that show is Umeda & Katsumata Vs Higuchi & Kouki Iwasaki.

The entire show was watched and studied by Shuji Ishikawa so he could pick the No. 1 contender for his KO-D Openweight Title. He wanted to pick someone who is worthy of a title shot and sat in a special area at ringside to watch the show. Throughout the evening Daisuke Sasaki kept saying Nobuhiro Shimatani was a diamond in the rough and deserves a shot. So he made impromptu Ishikawa Vs Shimatani matches whenever he could just as an excuse for Ishikawa to beat up the little guy. Ishikawa quickly beat Shimatani both times and Amon Tsurumi had to stop them from doing it again. At the end of the show everybody gathered together to hear who Ishikawa will pick. Sasaki decided the best way to choose is to have everybody kill each other and the last one left is determined the strongest. So a 24-Man Battle Royal took place and Kazusada Higuchi was the winner. Higuchi admitted Ishikawa is the strongest in DDT but that means if Higuchi wins then he becomes the strongest. The title match takes place at Korakuen Hall on 25th September.

After the main event Sasaki told Konosuke Takeshita that his KO-D Title loss at “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2016” was an end of an era. He challenged him to face Tetsuya Endo in a match there and then but Tsurumi instead booked it for Osaka on 18th September.

It didn’t take long for Yoshihiro Takayama to make an enemy. His first match as a DDT regular ended in a pull apart brawl with Yukio Sakaguchi. Tension between the two began before their tag team match even began when they stared each other down from across the ring. Takayama and Higuchi overpowered their opponents and gave Kota Umeda a Double Choke Slam before the finish.

Danshoku Dino is taking his new role of Wrestling Mentalist to heart by wearing a doctor’s coat. His current attempts to help Keisuke Ishii seem to be working after they won the 3 Way Tag Match. Ishii is in denial that he is sick. He then listed all the times he lost to Dino in singles matches in great detail. He currently has a 4-match losing streak against Dino. However he worked out in order to beat Dino the match has to be 17 minutes and 41 seconds long. Why? Because that was the match time of Akira Taue’s only Triple Crown win.

Kazuki Hirata is taking his preparations for Soma Takao seriously. He only danced during his entrance and there were no signs of using the HIRATA GO! glasses during their tag match. He only has one thing on his mind and that’s win the AJPW Jr. Title from Takao!

Makoto Oishi briefly mentioned the split between NωA and their manager happened because of “various circumstances”. Oishi said he wants to show that NωA needs the power of everybody to help them make it to “DDT FES 2016”.

Before the dark match took place Danshoku Dino accompanied Super Sasadango Machine to the ring. Dino is taking in Sasadango as his newest patient because he wants to help solve his problem of careless and inappropriate tweeting. Sasadango apologised for his controversial comments about female DDT fans from earlier this week. He proceed to lose the dark match against Hoshitango. Dino wonders is Sasadango now suffers from “The Curse Of The Coin”.
