swandive-somato

In a rematch of their Saitama Super Arena main event, HARASHIMA got his revenge and the KO-D Openweight Title back from Kota Ibushi in front of a packed house at Korakuen Hall. Neither men held anything back. Ibushi hit the Phoenix Splash for a nearfall. HARASHIMA pulled out the Firebird Splash, a move he hasn’t used in years for a nearfall of his own. The match went dangerously close to ending the same way as Saitama when Ibushi stopped HARASHIMA from doing the Swan Dive Somato and held him in position for the Phoenix Plex. This time around HARASHIMA avoided the ultra finisher by Headbutting Ibushi until the champion lost his grip. HARASHIMA then lifted Ibushi up for a Canadian Backbreaker and dropped him vertically into a Facebuster. With Ibushi taken out by this new move, HARASHIMA hit the Swan Dive Somato to seal the deal. With a gleaming smile HARASHIMA graciously accepted a bowing handshake from Ibushi. The former champion could only say “Thank you” before he was helped to the back by his Golden☆Storm Rider team mates. HARASHIMA said he was insanely happy to be champion again and he called Ibushi the best and the strongest.

higuchi-harashima-kudo

Kazusada Higuchi came out to announce the possible KO-D Title match between himself and HARASHIMA at Sapporo Teisen Hall on 24th May. Higuchi said he didn’t see the match but still he thought it was really terrible. HARASHIMA called Higuchi an awesome threat for a rookie and wished him luck. KUDO then came out and said he will get his KO-D Title shot at Korakuen on 31st May. HARASHIMA noted how tough it will be to have two title defences in two weeks but he’s up for the challenge. Why? Because he trains!

strong-drift

Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi saw off the challenge from Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie to keep the KO-D Tag Team Titles around their waists. Ishii showed great strength when he gave Sekimoto the High Angle Double Arm DDT but Okabayashi stopped the pin. Sekimoto ducked the Kneel Kick and deadlifted Ishii into a Vertical Drop Brainbuster. Ishii kicked out at 2 but was finished after a Lariat and the Deadlift German Suplex. The champions identified Drift as a great tag team in a backstage interview and credited them for being prepared and for having a strong bond. Okabayashi wants to defend the titles more and more until they beat everyone in DDT.

sasaki-miyatake-rightchallenge

The remaining Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract was up for grabs in another Royal Rumble Ladder match. Two other contracts were on the line since the wrestlers holding them were in the match. Those two contracts did in fact change hands. Daisuke Sasaki pinned Yasu Urano to win his contract and DJ Nira pinned Saki Akai to win hers, ruining her chance to cash in later in the night. DJ Nira eliminated himself to prevent getting pinned by jumping out of the ring. Sasaki tried the same but the remaining wrestlers stopped him. Sasaki convinced his team mate Suguru Miyatake that he wanted no further part in the match and he would let Miyatake grab the last contract. Miyatake climbed the ladder and Sasaki knocked it over, knocking Miyatake onto the ropes. Sasaki then repositioned the ladder and climbed it to pull down the prize. He now has two contracts in his possession.

shuten-doji-rightchallenge

Another Right To Challenge Contract changed hands when KUDO pinned Antonio Honda in a tag match. All of Shuten-dōji celebrated with a toast in the ring.

guyz-beats-boyz

Who was the mystery partner for the YaroZ team? It was “Mr. Policeman” Takayuki Ueki and he’s here to arrest the BOYZ team! Ueki pulled out a gun late into the match but Kazuki Hirata was quick to disarm him. Brother Tommy accidentaly broke the HIRATA GO glasses but Ueki came to the rescue with glasses for everbody! “TOKYO GO” played over the speakers and everyone decided to dance. As that went on Sanshiro Takagi pinned Hirata with the Sit Down Himawari Bomb.

sakaguchi-katsumata

Today is the one year anniversary of Shunma Katsumata’s debut match. Yukio Sakaguchi didn’t care and knocked out the rookie with some High Kicks.

higuchi-ihashi

After the dark match Gota Ihashi stormed out and complained about not being booked on this show. He demanded a match and to put his King Of Dark Title on the line so he can finally escape from dark match hell. Kazusada Higuchi accepted the match despite having just wrestled. Ihashi hit him with the title belt but then ran into a Big Boot. Higuchi then pinned him with the Goten.

Danshoku Dino’s Buddhist pilgrimmage will lead him towards a very spiritual wrestler. On 17th May Dino will take on Jinsei Shinzaki! Dino is now in deep meditation and was silent for his entire post-match interview. Also on the show Akito defends the DDT Extreme Title against Shigehiro Irie in a Last Man Standing match.

Masa Takanashi has decided to cash in his Right To Host Box Office contract. With this contract the holder can book his own show. Takanashi decided he will share the prize with KUDO & Yukio Sakaguchi and so on 22nd July there will be a Shuten-dōji produced event at Shinjuku FACE.

niconico12

The main event was changed when it was reported Bob Sapp hadn’t arrived in the arena yet and was suffering from enormous damage after his defeat to Sachiko Kobayashi yesterday. Super Sasadango Machine took his place and was victorious with Sanshiro Takagi over the Michinoku Pro team. Sapp finally appeared after the match and challenged M-Pro’s guest San-chan to a fight. San-chan was outmatched and overpowered but was encouraged by the others to continue. Chibi Tiger and members of the TV show Mecha-Mecha Iketeru! came down to help him and everyone had to be seperated. San-chan swore he will do his best to have his debut wrestling match later this year.

niconico13

An example of the stream chat making memes took place in the semi-main event. During the match Yasu Urano told Hiroshi Fukuda that he is no big deal. This caused the chat to be flooded with “Fukuda is no big deal” comments.

niconico14

Kazuki Hirata was physically stopped from dancing during his entrance. Hirata sulked throughout the match until he got his glasses back.

niconico15

Kota Ibushi just couldn’t help himself and made his match spread across the convention hall. With Michael Nakazawa in his corner once more, Ibushi dragged Daisuke Sasaki, Danshoku Dino and Makoto Oishi over to exhibits like the Guinness World Record Challenge booth, a dinosaur skeleton display and a Niconico van which Ibushi of course Moonsaulted off of.

niconico16

A single Right To Challenge Contract was passed around three times in the Rumble Match. Tomomitsu Matsunaga pinned Yoshihiko to win its contract, then DJ Nira pinned Matsunaga. Saki Akai tapped out Nira with a Modified Camel Clutch but there was one more person left to enter. Out came Michael Nakazawa back from Singapore! He greeted the crowd and then went straight for Akai and her contract. Akai pulled down the ropes behind her and Nakazawa went flying out of the ring to end the match. Akai said she wants to cash in her contract at the next Korakuen Hall show. She also credited meeting Genichiro Tenryu yesterday for giving her extra fighting spirit.

niconico17

The Kamen Joshi musical performance was interrupted by Homoiro Clover Z members Danshoku Dino, Makoto Oishi and Hiroshi Fukuda. The two groups had a dance contest which Kamen Joshi won. Homoiro Clover Z took the defeat badly and attacked the idols. Help came in the forms of Shigehiro Irie and Yoshihiko. They and the Kamen Girls overpowered Dino’s crew and chased them off before performing another song.

niconico18

Super Sasadango Machine repeated yesterday’s strategy on Shigehiro Irie. That is he encouraged the stream chat to type “Irie, behind you!” whenever Irie climbed the top rope. Sasadango also did som calculations and discovered his strategy to beat Ibushi yesterday only caused 35% damage instead of the 70% he originally predicted. There was also a ring girl present and Sasadango gave her a piece of paper that said “Room No. 2735” to use as another distraction. The plan backfired when another Super Sasadango Machine appeared and flirted with the ring girl, distracting the original. Irie capitalised and pinned Sasadango with the Flying Sausage. He then unmasked the imposter Sasadango and revealed him to be Hiroshi Fukuda.

niconico19

The ring suffered some damage during the King Of Dark Title match. When the match was over Gota Ihashi did some impersonations of Shinsuke Nakamura and Hiroshi Tanahashi to keep the crowd entertained while the ring was being repaired.

Over the space of a day DDT with the help of au held a bunch of matches inside the Niconico Chokaigi Super Conference. Airing live on Niconico, DDT claims the stream had over 130,000 viewers at its peak. The stream chat had a vital role during the show. The chat appeared on the arena screen in real time for all to see, scrolling across sideways in a “bullet hell” format.

niconico2

There was a “wedding” between a 39 year old man named Atari and a 17 year old woman named Mayutan that devolved into a pie fight and was interrupted by Danshoku Dino. Also Mr. AKIBA was there to catch the bouquet. Dino got his hands on the groom until HARASHIMA and Akito came to the rescue. A match was then held between HARASHIMA & Akito versus Dino & Makoto Oishi to determine if the bride and groom could get married. HARASHIMA & Akito won but Dino had one more trick up his sleeve to stop the marriage… Bob Sapp! Dino fought off HARASHIMA & Akito while Sapp overpowered Atari to stop him from kissing the bride. All hope was lost until “TAKE THE DREAM” played over the speakers. Out came Kensuke Sasaki! There was a masked woman next to him who was revealed to be famous singer Sachiko Kobayashi. She easily destroyed both Dino Sapp to bring an end to the fiasco. Atari and Mayutan finally kissed while everyone around them cheered.

niconico3

The Niconico Super Conference was the perfect location for a Super Sasadango Machine PowerPoint presentation. Today’s strategy to beat Kota Ibushi involved using the Niconico chat on screen to distract Ibushi from doing the Phoenix Splash. Sasadango told the viewers to post “Ibushi, behind you!” whenever he was going up to the top rope and faced the screen. This would confuse Ibushi and give Sasadango time to climb up and do a top rope Brainbuster that would inflict 70% HP damage. Sasadango was certain that it would work so well that Ibushi would move full time to New Japan as a result. The distraction worked several times and in the end Sasadango hit the top rope Brainbuster followed by the Vertical Drop Lehmann Shock. Ibushi then kicked out at one. Sasadango was stunned, so much so that he removed his mask in shock. Ibushi got up and did his own Lehmann Shock to win the match.

niconico4

Genichiro Tenryu and Yukio Sakaguchi had a staredown after their match. Tenryu offered a handshake but Sakaguchi chopped him instead! Tenryu struck back with a chop of his own and the two stared each other down again. In a backstage interview Sakaguchi said he would fight Tenryu one-on-one anytime.

niconico5

Racial tensions highlighted the match between Hiroshi Fukuda and Yoshihiko. Fukuda was angry he had to fight a doll instead of somebody American or a white Hispanic. He then accused Yoshihiko of just being a sex doll and attacked it to start the match. Yoshihiko turned the tables with a Swan Dive Swinging DDT but Fukuda was back in control when he applied the Sleeper Hold. After doing the Michinoku Driver three times, he climbed up top and yelled he would do a 450 Splash. Yoshihiko suddenly sprang up to Fukuda and threw him off the top rope. Daisuke Kiso was then accidentally knocked out in the crossfire. Fukuda saw his chance and struck Yoshihiko with his tambourine while the ref was down. Unfortunately Kiso was still unconscious when Fukuda went for the pin. Fukuda revived him but Yoshihiko was back up and hit the Yoshihiko Destroyer for the three count, winning Fukuda’s Right To Challenge contract in the process!

niconico6

Sadly the mascots in Yuru-chara Pro Wrestling did not actually wrestle. Actually, I’m not quite sure what it is they did. In fact some of them had a lot of trouble trying to get into the ring and the entire entrance portion of the segment took 23 minutes. Kumamon shook the ropes like the Ultimate Warrior and attacked the others with a towel (Why? For the glory of Satan of course!). Okazaemon brought in a chair for all the mascots to play musical chairs with. One of the mascots removed its head to reveal a smaller, lightweight mask for it to see better. Burikatsu-kun spoke and complained about being tired so Amon Tsurumi stopped the match. Guest ring announcer Terashima Yufu picked Fukka-chan as the winner because she believed it worked the hardest. It is also her favourite mascot so favouritism probably played a part in this. The mascots then played a proper game of musical chairs which Fukka-chan also won. Kumamon did not give a fuck during this and heeled on everyone.

niconico7

M.S.S.P is a Let’s Play group and they were at the event challenging Danshoku Dino to some video games. The first game was Fire Pro Returns on the Playstation 2. Dino played as the Fire Pro version of himself and his opponent picked Taiji Ishimori. Dino won with the Danshoku Driver. The next game was Kinnikuman Muscle Tag Match for the Famicom. M.R.R.P won this round. The final round was on Kinnikuman Tag again after an audience vote. Dino defeated M.R.R.P to win the challenge. He then chased after them to do some lewd things end the segment.

niconico8

Kazuki Hirata was too busy dancing to notice Tomomitsu Matsunaga sneaking behind him for a flash three count. The screen filled with lines of 88888888 from the stream chat which represents an applause in Japanese internet speak. An immediate rematch was held and Hirata redeemed himself by getting the win for his team.

niconico9

Gota Ihashi continues to be stuck in dark match hell. He lost to DJ Nira not once but twice in two successive King Of Dark Title matches. The second match was a sumo bout with a masked Hoshitango as the referee. Nira somehow won when he tried to lift Ihashi and the champion collapsed under his own weight.

MIKAMI missed the show due to a high fever. Kouki Iwasaki took his place.

Sudden Death: Akito (c) defeated Daisuke Sasaki with a Perfect Figure Four Leglock (6:48).
*V1 for Akito.

The DDT Extreme Title was up for grabs in a gruelling 60 minute Ironman match, continuing the trend of the championship being defended in serious skill-based matches. The champion Akito had already lost to the challenger Daisuke Sasaki in March. A rematch went 30 minutes without a winner and now even 60 minutes isn’t enough to determine who is more worthy of being champion. Sasaki scored the first fall with a Hurricanrana but Akito equalised with a Scorpion Armlock submission. Akito thought outside of the box with La Mistica into the Crossface Lock to go ahead again. A double countout occurred shortly afterwards when the two fought outside and did what they could to prevent the other from re-entering the ring. Akito made it a tie score at the 45th minute with the Kinniku Big Move. In the dying moments of the match Sasaki used TAKA Michinoku’s Dick Killer submission (Sasaki was trained by Dick Togo, the wrestler TAKA designed the move to use against) but Akito persevered until the bell rang to end the match at 2 falls a piece. A draw would have counted as a successful defence for Akito but the champion refused and wanted the match to restart so they could determine a winner. Sudden death overtime began and the two were able to fight for 6 more minutes until Akito finally got the better of Sasaki with an Arm Clutch Figure Four Leglock. With nowhere to escape Sasaki had to give up. After the match the two reminisced about their first matches together at the Monthly Young Communication shows DDT used to do. Akito said he will continue to wrestle Sasaki any number of times in the future if they can.

Akito pointed out that his next title defence will be in Nagoya on 17th May. He nominated Shigehiro Irie as his next challenger since Nagoya is a place close to Irie’s heart. Irie was “amazingly happy” to be chosen and he knows he will be fighting the best.

HARASHIMA & Yasu Urano signalled their intentions to go after the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles after beating Keisuke Ishii & Soma Takao. Ishii has no time to worry about that. His full attention is on the KO-D Tag Team Title shot at the end of the month.

We almost had the first Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract cash in. Hiroshi Fukuda entered the ring after the BOYZ Vs YaroZ match with the intention of challenging a tired Kota Ibushi for the KO-D Openweight Title. Problem is Ibushi wasn’t feeling tired. In fact he was ready to wrestle again there and then. Fukuda suddenly got cold feet and changed his mind. He remembered he has other errands to attend to and will challenge Ibushi another time. Amon Tsurumi told Fukuda he could cash in after the Ibushi Vs HARASHIMA match at Korakuen Hall. Fukuda played dumb and acted like he wasn’t sure what time that show is taking place before leaving the ring.

The YaroZ team had a secret weapon prepared for their BOYZ opponents. Brother Tommy introduced another MC midway through the match, Rashiki Ihashi. Unfortunately Ihashi’s interference backfired and cost YaroZ the match. Sanshiro Takagi was annoyed by losing because of an outside party and demanded a rematch without any interference from either side. BOYZ Vs YaroZ will have one final match at the 29th April Korakuen Hall show.

Before the latest Tokyo GO! match took place, Yukio Sakaguchi presented KUDO with the HIRATA GO glasses he wore in Yokohama. KUDO stubbornly refused to wear them. Kazuki Hirata came down to the ring angry that his glasses were stolen by Sakaguchi but he luckily had a spare one with him. As the match went on KUDO was eventually convinced to put on the glasses to go against Hirata’s. KUDO brought an end to the nonsense when he kicked Hirata in the head so hard the glasses flew off.

Ever since Danshoku Dino begun his “Danshoku Life” pilgrimage, MIKAMI has lost to him three times in a row.

Yasu Urano avoided dark match hell when he beat Gota Ihashi in the King of Dark Title match. Urano submitted Ihashi with a tight Headlock, the very same ending that happened in Ihashi’s debut DDT match almost 6 years ago.

The show took place in Kota Umeda’s hometown. He got to team with Konosuke Takeshita and together they formed the “19 Year Old Tag” combination. Despite losing the match Umeda was praised by Kota Ibushi afterwards.

Hiroshi Fukuda had a proposal for MIKAMI before their match. He wanted to do a musical performance but whoever lost the match could not be involved. MIKAMI got the upper hand until Fukuda backed into the corner. He told MIKAMI “I’m sorry, I just wanted to sing a song with you!” So the two put aside their differences and began to sing until Fukuda bashed MIKAMI over the head with a tambourine and rolled him over for the three count.

Antonio Honda was able to quickly win back his Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract from Tomomitsu Matsunaga.

Hey, guess what? We got new KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions again! Team Dream Futures are now 5 time champions after beating Shuten-dōji to reclaim the belts. Just please find another team before Shuten-dōji get their rematch.

30 minutes was not enough for Akito and Daisuke Sasaki to settle their score. The prelude to their DDT Extreme Title match ended without a winner when the time expired. As champion Akito gets to choose the stipulation for the title match on 19th April. He decided it will be a 60 minute Ironman match!

HARASHIMA is feeling positive about his upcoming KO-D Openweight Title match against Kota Ibushi. The results show it as HARASHIMA has so far been on the winning side of matches against Ibushi ever since he became the No. 1 Contender.

We got the first of what will be no doubt many Right To Challenge Contract transfers. Tomomitsu Matsunaga won Antonio Honda’s contract when he pinned him in Match #3.

dino-sasadango-bald

The team of Danshoku Dino & Super Sasadango Machine were fully prepared for their KO-D Tag Team Title shot today. They both wore Machine masks and showed a Powerpoint presentation explaining how they plan to win. The presentation was titled “A Discussion Of The Tag Team Championship Challenges And Work-life Balance By A 37-Year-Old Duo”. Sasadango’s work-life balance is “Mold”, “Home”, “Graduate School”, “Local Talent Industry” and “Local Wrestler Business”. Dino’s balance is “Gay”, “Gay Time Writer”, “Security Guards”, “Gay Function Activities” and “Gay Wrestler”. They worked out that the champions’ balance is “Muscle Training”, “Wrestling”, “Muscle Training”, “Wrestling” and “Poseidon”. The solution to beat Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi was to create the Konaki Danshoku Driver, a double team version of Dino’s finisher. The move is named after Konaki Jijii from the manga GeGeGe no Kitarō. Sasadango puts on a Konaki Jijii costume which dramatically increases his weight and he leaps onto Dino’s back as he does the Danshoku Driver.

konaki-danshoku-driver

The challengers jumped the bell and did everything they could to get the advantage. A few DDT wrestlers interfered to help them and did so while wearing Machine masks. The challengers hit the Konaki Danshoku Driver on Okabayashi but Sekimoto was there to break the count. Frustrated, Dino & Sasadango removed their masks revealing that they are now both bald! They hit the Konaki Danshoku Driver again but Sekimoto breaks the pin once more. The champions turned the tables and Okabayashi got his hands on the Konaki costume. Okabayashi put on the costume, increasing his weight to 2 tons and hit the Golem Splash for the victory. After the match Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie came down to confirm their challenge for the KO-D Tag Titles on 29th April. That is the same date Ishii & Irie won the All Asia Tag Team Titles last year. Sekimoto told them to bring the best they got.

ibushi-harashima-handshake

The Right To Challenge Battle Royal had eight prizes in total. The main one was a KO-D Openweight Title shot on 29th April in Korakuen Hall, which was given to HARASHIMA for winning the Royal Rumble portion of the match. He and Kota Ibushi didn’t play any games when they faced each other after the match. This time they accepted each other’s handshake.

dance-ladder

The other seven prizes were in envelopes held above the ring. Each envelope had a different design on it except for two which both had a skull logo. Tetsuya Endo and Yasu Urano were the first to grab contracts while fighting over them at the top of the ladder. Urano got a Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract while Endo was gutted to find out he got a King Of Dark Title match. Masa Takanashi grabbed the smiley face envelope and got the rights to book his own DDT show. Hiroshi Fukuda snuck up the ladder during Kazuki Hirata’s dance entrance and got himself the 2nd Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract. Undefeated DNA rookie Kazusada Higuchi got the 3rd Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract and Antonio Honda got the 4th thanks to Konosuke Takeshita helping him up the ladder.

right-to-challenge

When the match was over there was still one contract remaining, the first time it has ever happened for this match. Amon Tsurumi decided the contract will go to a winner of another Battle Royal on 29th April. The contract holders were all interviewed after the match. Takanashi said he will think about when he will cash in his contract. Endo said he will cash in his King of Dark contract on 19th April in Saitama. Urano wants to win the KO-D Title fair and square so he will not cash in when the champion least expects it. Fukuda wants to consult with Barack Obama before he decides when to get his title match. Higuchi said he will get his title match in Sapporo Teisen Hall because he wants to win the title near his hometown. Honda declared he will not cash in until pollen season is over because his nose is currently stuffy.

akito-one-count

Oh no! The hype backlash has begun for Shiori Asahi, although it is just as manufactured as his popularity. Amon Tsurumi is tired of Asahi being cheered so he instructed the fans to boo him instead just to mix things up. The fans played along and Asahi was stunned by the crowd turning on him when he came out. Akito on the other hand got a lot of support as the Total Count Match went on. With every second from a pinfall counting as a point, both wrestlers went with School Boys and Cradles to score quickly and often. Asahi took the lead by a wide margin but Akito came back and got the equalizing point right before the time limit expired. Sudden death quickly began and after 90 seconds of frantic scrambling, Akito got the winning pin count to regain the DDT Extreme Title! After the match Akito was thrilled to have the belt back and said the match taught him the importance of the one count.

hang-in-there

Sanshiro Takagi wanted something crazy for his 20th anniversary and he got it. He & Jun Kasai fought Kota Ibushi & Suguru Miyatake in a wild Falls Count Anywhere match. Kasai and Ibushi were at each other’s throats for a lot of the match, brawling up to the balcony. There was a scary moment when Ibushi was lifted over the railing and was left hanging over ringside from the ledge! Tables, basins, a barbed wire baseball bat and the Combat Bicycle were all used during the match. Takagi splashed Miyatake through two tables and then Power Bombed him through a third while yelling “Congratulations 20th Anniversary!” to himself. Ibushi and Kasai had a staredown after the match.

*X is Shiori Asahi.
6. KO-D Tag Team Titles: Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi (c) Vs Danshoku Dino & Super Sasadango Machine

The time has come for my favourite DDT match to take place again. The Right To Challenge Battle Royal is a combined Royal Rumble and Ladder Match. The winner of the Rumble portion becomes the No. 1 Contender for the KO-D Openweight Title. However there are usually extra prizes hanging over the ring which is where the ladder comes in. In recent years the prize has been Money In The Bank style contracts that allow the holder to get a title match at any show they want. However there are also extra stipulations used to keep the contract holder on his toes. For example, last year the contract could change hands like a title if the holder was directly defeated in any match he wrestled in. The rules change or get altered every year so we won’t know for sure what the prizes and conditions are until right after the match.

The Drift Vs Shuten-dōji feud has extended itself into the regular tag team division. The two sides will collide again with a future KO-D Tag Team Title shot on the line.

Sanshiro Takagi will celebrate 20 years in wrestling with a good old fashion Falls Count Anywhere Match.

I think this is the first time anywhere a champion has been labelled as X.

*Happy Motel fail in V1. Shuten-dōji becomes the 12th KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions!
6. KO-D Openweight Title: HARASHIMA (c) Vs Kenny Omega ended in a Double Knockout (19:27).
*V2 for HARASHIMA. Kenny Omega cashed in his Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract.

In one month’s time DDT returns to Sumo Hall for its biggest show of the year but after today’s show the main event has been altered. Kenny Omega cashed in his Right To Challenge Contract today and faced HARASHIMA for the KO-D Championship. Sumo Hall main eventer Isami Kodaka was at the timekeeper’s table to see who he will soon fight for the title. Both champion and challenger destroyed each other and at one point HARASHIMA delivered the Reverse Frankensteiner from the apron to the floor! Omega later came close to victory with the Croyt’s Wrath. The two then traded Somatos and Jumping Knee Strikes until they were both knocked out. Yukinori Matsui counted both of them out and ruled the match a draw.

harashima-kenny-ko

The draw officially counts as a successful defence for HARASHIMA and Amon Tsurumi declared the Sumo Hall main event will be HARASHIMA Vs Isama Kodaka for the KO-D Title. However, HARASHIMA wasn’t satisfied with the result and wanted another match with Kenny. Kodaka stepped in and said he wanted to face both HARASHIMA and Omega. Everybody came to the conclusion that the Sumo Hall main event will now be a 3 Way match for the title. HARASHIMA Vs Isami Kodaka Vs Kenny Omega!

ddt-roadtoryogoku

At the end of the show Sanshiro Takagi invited the entire roster into the ring and announced tickets for Sumo Hall were selling out. Takagi got everybody in the ring to chant “Sell! Sell! Sell!” The fans joined in but Takagi interrupted them and said they should be chanting “Buy! Buy! Buy!”

trios3way

Happy Motel’s reign as KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions was short lived, which is a running theme for this title’s entire existence. The belts were on the line in a 3 Way Trios match with no tag rules in effect. Happy Motel, Team Dream Futures and Shuten-dōji went at it until Masa Takanashi countered Tetsuya Endo’s Torture Bomb into the Takatonic for the three count. Since Drift were not involved with the result, Tsurumi decided that they will get the next title shot at Sumo Hall.

sakai-dino

Before Match #4 began, Danshoku Dino asked if he was going to defend the DDT Extreme Title at Sumo Hall. He got no answer and treated today’s 8-Man Tag bout as a throwaway match. Super Sasadango Machine got the pin and was happy to challenge Dino to a title match. He set up a powerpoint presentation to explain his challenge but Dino interrupted and said he will not fight him. Instead he wants to fight Muscle Sakai! Amon Tsurumi told Dino that Sakai is retired and currently working at his family’s business in Niigata. Machine left the ring and Sakai’s music suddenly played over the speakers. Suddenly Sakai appeared! He was crying with joy and said that even though he retired, he secretly visited Korakuen Hall in disguise every month to watch DDT. He accepted Dino’s challenge and it was made official by Tsurumi.

ddt-amigos

Since Kota Ibushi’s 10th Anniversary Match no longer involved Kota Ibushi, the 6-Man Tag Team bout was changed into a Lucha Libre Rules match. Taiji Ishimori got into the spirit of things with Sanshiro Takagi & Toru Owashi. Ishimori afterwards said he enjoyed wrestling with them.

mikami-gentaro

GENTARO was very disappointed by MIKAMI for tapping out to a Headlock in their tag team match. He questioned if MIKAMI was not motivated anymore and was insulted because he himself went through a lot in order to wrestle again. Even if GENTARO is not the wrestler he used to be he still wrestles because it makes him happy. Yasu Urano told GENTARO to ignore MIKAMI. He said they won the match and shouldn’t have to worry about MIKAMI’s decline. GENTARO slapped Urano and said he isn’t like MIKAMI. “MIKAMI is a guy, dude!” As a result of this, GENTARO & MIKAMI will face Yasu Urano & Akito at Sumo Hall.

There were some announcements regarding DDT’s plans for the near future. The big one of course was their goal of going to the Saitama Super Arena next year. Sanshiro Takagi announced that DDT will be in the Saitama Super Arena Community Arena on 15th February, 2015. The Community Arena is a smaller section within the Super Arena territory but Takagi believes it is big enough to draw 5,000 fans. He also wants DDT to hold two major shows every year. The plan is for February and August to be when the major shows will take place.

The annual DDT48 General Election will now be replaced with a new election based on the different stables in DDT. For now it is called the DDT Dramatic General Election. It will take place from 31st August to 28th September.

Kota Ibushi apologised for being unable to compete on the show. He promised to be crazier than ever when he returns to “perfect condition”. He will have a singles match at Sumo Hall but his opponent is currently to be decided.

KUDO, Danshoku Dino and DJ Nira are the latest DDT wrestlers to get gender swapped characters for the Ring☆Dream online card game. DDT will also be collaborating with the Powerpuff Girls TV show for a t-shirt that will be available at Sumo Hall.

*Kenny Omega will cash in his Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract.

Kenny Omega currently holds the final Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract and he will cash it in on 20th July. Omega sees this as his last chance to get into the main event of this year’s Sumo Hall show as the KO-D Openweight Champion (I assume the contract cannot be used to insert the holder into another title match to turn it into a Triple Threat).

All that has been said about Kota Ibushi’s 10th Anniversary match is it will be a match he wants to do.

*It just hit me that DDT has now done enough Sumo Hall shows to have traditions for them.
