judgement2016-preview

DDT celebrates the 19th year of its existence with the first of two visits to Sumo Hall in 2016. After drawing a disappointing number back in August, they have packed this card with everything they have in their arsenal. Spin offs BASARA, DNA and Tokyo Joshi Pro all have spots on the pre-show so there is a sense of DDT getting everybody they can on their rosters onto the show in a WrestleMania kind of manner. Things to look forward to this year are the aces of DDT and BASARA facing off, one man and his dog chasing after tag team gold, sumo being challenged by the power of asses, two grumpy fighters being grumpy to each other, the return of a Golden Star to shine over the least wanted feud in wrestling, the presence of a Dragon and his son and the most extreme PowerPoint presentation known to mankind.

0. King Of Dark Title: Seiya Morohashi (c) & Hoshitango Vs DJ Nira & Dai Suzuki

Seiya Morohashi has the unwanted honour of defending the King Of Dark Title at one of DDT’s biggest shows of the year. The belt has been in existence for over a year now and has been a nightmare for everyone who held it. Morohashi needs to pin either DJ Nira or Dai Suzuki to transfer the belt to them and escape from dark match hell.

0. Tokyo Joshi Pro Offer Battle Royal: Miyu Yamashita Vs Shoko Nakajima Vs Yuka Sakazaki Vs Nonoko Vs Rika Tatsumi Vs Hyper Misao Vs Azusa Takigawa Vs Yuu Vs Nodoka-onesan Vs Marika Kobashi Vs Ai Shimizu Vs Poison Miura Vs KANNA

The girls from Tokyo Joshi Pro take the stage with a Battle Royal. Miyu Yamashita is currently leading the brand as the first and only TOKYO Princess Of Princess Champion. She doesn’t have a No. 1 Contender at the moment so the winner here might grab that spot.

0. DNA Offer Match – Mao Inoue Comeback: Shunma Katsumata, Guanchulo & Mao Inoue Vs Kouki Iwasaki, Rainbow Kawamura & Nobuhiro Shimatani

The rookie brand DDT New Attitude has been a highlight for DDT throughout the year. The shows are uploaded to DDT’s official Youtube channel and are a great showcase for the younger and newer talent. In fact two thirds of the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions are captaining the two teams in this match. Shunma Katsumata is teaming with his Chilean amigo Guanchulo and the returning Mao Inoue. Inoue debuted at “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2015” and is one of the more flashier wrestlers in DNA. But a jaw injury at “OSAKA OCTOPUS 2015” in November put him on the shelf. On the other side, one-third champ Kouki Iwasaki has the now more colourful Rainbow Kawamura and recently debuting Nobuhiro Shimatani to partner with.

0. Pro Wrestling BASARA Offer Match: Takumi Tsukamoto, Daichi Kazato & Ryu Gouma Vs FUMA, Yusuke Kubo & SAGAT

It’s been go, go, go for Pro Wrestling BASARA since its first show earlier this year. As a replacement for Union, BASARA put together a much busier schedule than its predecessor and the shows held so far have been a success. One of the main storylines going on right now is FUMA’s obsession for heavy metal music resulting in the creation of Kotetsu Gundan. FUMA wants to spread around his love of heavy metal and convinced the now masked Yusuke Kubo and a slightly confused Madoka to join his cause. FUMA won’t shut up and it’s starting to annoy the rest of BASARA. Takumi Tsukamoto has a massive hammer to smash FUMA’s mouth shut, Daichi Kazato has a megaphone to drown out the noise and Ryu Gouma has his lawbook so surely he can find something to declare FUMA’s antics as noise pollution.

1. Ryogoku First Appearance! Next KO-D Openweight Title Challenger Decision And Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Battle Royal: Toru Owashi Vs Kazuki Hirata Vs Masa Takanshi Vs Soma Takao Vs Tomomitsu Matsunaga Vs Kazusada Higuchi Vs Gorgeous Matsuno Vs Cherry Vs Ryuichi Sekine Vs Ryota Nakatsu Vs Yoshihiko Vs Ken Ohka

The show starts off proper with the annual Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere match appearing in Sumo Hall for the first time. It is a combination of a Money In The Bank Ladder Match and the Royal Rumble. The winner of the Rumble itself gets a guaranteed KO-D Openweight Title shot at Korakuen Hall on 24th April. However the competitors can instead try and claim one of several contracts held high above the ring. Those who grab a contract then leave the match with a prize. This year the prize is a MITB style title shot for any show from 26th March to 28th August, the date of the next Sumo Hall event. But this being DDT things are not always that simple. Rules can change but based on previous years the contract holder is forced to defend the contract in every single match they appear in until the contract is cashed in. This way the contract holder cannot just rest on their laurels and accept defeat after defeat knowing that they can claim an easy title shot whenever they want (see WWE booking). Plus it’s a bit unfair for the champion to have up to 4 or 5 people waiting to ambush him at any time so this concept keeps the roster scrambling amongst themselves for a few months.

After a string of wins including a Battle Royal victory, Kazuki Hirata offered to take the No. 1 entry spot in the match. He originally demanded to enter last but was convinced all of the contracts would be gone by the time he enters. So he’s entering first to grab a contract as soon as possible. He also has new heart shaped HIRATA GO! glasses on sale at the event. The rest of DDT’s misfits fill up the field. Masa Takanashi is aiming to win a title shot so he can become a double champion, one in Japan and one in Singapore. Toru Owashi is currently battling a flu but he also wants to snap every pair of HIRATA GO! glasses he sees. He also wants to flush Hirata down a toilet in the sumo locker room. Kazusada Higuchi held one of the contracts last year during his impressive rookie unbeaten streak. This time he wants to get a successful cash in. Tomomitsu Matsunaga and Cherry both want to finally achieve their goal of becoming KO-D Champion. Cherry wants to defend the title 41 times, one for every year she’s been alive. She believes this will end with her becoming reborn into an even more beautiful woman. Ryota Nakatsu is ready to get into a baseball dugout brawl if he has to. Ryuichi Sekine calls himself the best orthodox wrestler in BASARA and him getting a title shot will guarantee the belt either stays or comes back to his home company. Ken Ohka who briefly became KO-D Champion last year thanks to the Right To Challenge concept, sees himself as the outsider of the match due to being a representative of Ganbare☆Wrestling. At the press conference he challenged everybody to fight him one on one. Higuchi then gave him a Headbutt and he backed off, instead complimenting everybody for being so enthusiastic for the match. The other wild card is Yoshihiko. It probably just wants to watch the world burn.

2. 3 Way Tag Match: Joey Ryan & Candice LeRae Vs Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie Vs Akito & Yasu Urano

It’s safe to say DDT has fallen in love with The World’s Cutest Tag Team. Last year’s video of Joey Ryan overpowering Danshoku Dino with his dick made him famous and the DDT roster fell head over heels for Candice LeRae, one of them even going so far to propose to her almost immediately. For their return to Japan they have two mainstay tag teams thrown in their way. Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie are former KO-D Tag Team and All Asia Tag Team Champions. Yasu Urano & Akito are busy working their strategy for the match. They understand that communication is key to winning and both of their opposing teams have strong bonds. However the one thing Ryan & LeRae have over Ishii & Irie is the language barrier. Ishii & Irie are terrible at English! Urano & Akito however understand English and can work out what Ryan & LeRae will be saying to each other. They don’t speak it themselves but they still understand it. Ishii tried to prove them wrong at the press conference by having Irie translate his message to both teams in English.

3. Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title – Special 6-Man Tag Team Match: Saki Akai, Makoto Oishi & Lady Beard Vs LiLiCo (c), Kota Umeda & Mizuki Watase

The Kawaii Connection reunite to deliver their cuteness to the entire world. Cute model Saki Akai, cute wrestler Makoto Oishi and cute crossdresser Lady Beard are ready to get revenge on LiLiCo for what she did to Akai. Back in December Akai finally achieved her goal and won the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title for the second time in her career. But a few weeks later LiLiCo made a surprise return to choke out Akai with a steel chain and win the title. Now they will finally meet in the ring properly but LiLiCo has some back up. She recruited DNA wrestlers Kota Umeda & Mizuki Watase. mostly based on their looks, to protect her and her championship. They’ve been living a lavish lifestyle in the run up to the show. LiLiCo’s been bragging about eating delicious meat with her handsome men. Umeda thinks the full stomach he has from the meat puts him in peak physical condition. Meanwhile a war of words has erupted between Akai and Watase over each other’s appearances. It’s gotten so bad that the two had to be pulled apart from each other during the press conference.

4. Special Tag Match: Antonio Honda & Hiroshi Fukuda Vs Tatsumi Fujinami & LEONA

The latest puroresu legend to step into DDT’s ring is WWE Hall Of Famer Tatsumi Fujinami! He’s been looking for a new challenge for himself and his son LEONA to overcome so DDT gave them a call and here they are. Antonio Honda spent the last few months chasing after the DDT Extreme Title and trying to get Kendo Kashin to notice him. The experience left him in a bad state of mind so when he heard he will be teaming with Hiroshi Fukuda it cheered him up. He said he always had fun when he’s in the ring with Fukuda. That it’s against Fujinami & LEONA is icing on the cake for both. Fukuda claims he recently received a WWE tryout and he wonders if Fujinami gets a Legends discount for the WWE Network because he’s in their Hall Of Fame.

5. DDT Extreme Title – Ultimate Royal Barbed Wire PowerPoint No Power Blast PWF Rules: Kendo Kashin (c) Vs Super Sasadango Machine

And now we go to whatever the hell this is. Kendo Kashin’s DDT Extreme Title run has been complicated in ways that should not be so. He created rulesets for his title defences that turn out to be exactly like normal match stipulations. Instead of a normal match it is an Amateur rules bout with 3 count pins, submissions allowed and 20 count ring outs. Instead of a tag team match it is a single match but both wrestlers have partners they can swap places with. Instead of a Triple Threat it is a singles match but with three wrestlers involved. And so on and so forth. Add in Super Sasadango Machine who is a master of bizarre match stipulations and you have a recipe for a beautiful disaster.

barbwire-powerpoint

So what exactly is an Ultimate Royal Barbed Wire PowerPoint No Power Blast PWF Rules match? Does it have anything to do with that stupid 4 Way MMA Gauntlet match New Japan did for its 2005 Tokyo Dome show? Actually yes it does but there’s only two wrestlers involved this time. Also Kashin has never seen the match so he’s not entirely sure what the rules for that are. Does it have anything to do with the Barbed Wire Explosion matches FMW was famous for? Again yes it does but explosions of that size are banned in Sumo Hall so they won’t be included. Instead barbed wire will be wrapped around the laptop Sasadango uses for his PowerPoint presentations and it will be rigged to explode after 5 minutes.

6. Kota Ibushi Comeback & Ibushi Wrestling Institute 1st Leg – East & West Toward The Front Over The Entire Surface Falls Count Anywhere Weapon Treasure Hunt Match: Sanshiro Takagi & Jun Kasai Vs KENSO & Michael Nakazawa Vs Kota Ibushi & Gota Ihashi

There are two stories surrounding this match. First is the feud that no one wanted resurfaced last year and has lingered in DDT ever since. Sanshiro Takagi and KENSO had a feud in 2006 that ended with a No Rope Exploding Barbed Wire Match on a show where everything just fell apart. How bad was it? There were power outages during the match caused by the barbed wire ruining the explosions. KENSO showed up in DDT last year wanting to rekindle the feud. It was the most alive he ever felt and he wanted to experience it again. It turned smarky on social media with Takagi tweeting about KENSO’s failures in wrestling including losing to an actor when he wrestled in HUSTLE. KENSO’s response was usually just linking a picture of Takagi’s election poster, an embarrassing part of his past. A dark match 60 minute Ironman Match couldn’t decide a winner of the feud so it’s off to Sumo Hall for another final battle. Jun Kasai is coming to bring back his Crazy & President tag team with Takagi. KENSO has to rely on Michael Nakazawa who is returning from Singapore just to do this match. The stage is set for an out of control Falls Count Anywhere Match that will spread all over Sumo Hall. What could possibly take the spotlight from that?

Oh hey there, Kota Ibushi. How’s it going?

So get this. Last October Ibushi starts dropping out of shows including him missing a KO-D Title Match. Turns out he was diagnosed with a herniated cervical disc. So that’s him gone for God knows how long. Months pass and he’s all quiet until all of a sudden videos appear on Twitter of Ibushi working out and taking bumps with a training dummy. The herniated disc wasn’t as bad as expected and he was getting close to a full recovery. DDT and New Japan fans get excited for what will surely be his inevitable glorious comeback for both companies. Then in February he drops a bombshell. Ibushi decided to quit both DDT and New Japan. The double schedule took its toll on his body and he also felt he wouldn’t be able to do the kind of pro wrestling he wants to do while tied down to both companies. So he “graduates” from DDT and New Japan and then creates the Ibushi Wrestling Institute. What that is we still don’t know. What we do know is Ibushi’s first match back will be in this clusterfuck. He gets to wrestle Takagi and Nakazawa again, two men he has the deepest respect for and he gets to do a Falls Count Anywhere Match in Sumo Hall, which he has never done before.

What he does after the next few weeks is anyone’s guess. Maybe the WWE fans get their wish and he enters the Global Cruiserweight Series. Maybe NJPW fans can still get their wish of Ibushi Vs Kenny Omega at the Tokyo Dome next year. Or maybe he’s just going to do what he thinks is fun even if it means hardcore fans tearing out their hair because his big goal is to fight in Kaiju Big Battel. I mean fair play to EVOLVE and all but it has to be a bit embarrassing when everyone hears that the main reason a big star took your booking is because he wants to fight a devil monkey, a dust bunny, a murderous can of soup and a giant waffle in the same town that weekend.

ryogoku-suzukisakaguchi

7. Dramatic Dream Match: Yukio Sakaguchi Vs Minoru Suzuki

The last time Yukio Sakaguchi was in Sumo Hall for DDT he won the KO-D Championship. The last time Minoru Suzuki was in Sumo Hall for DDT he was part of some nonsense with Takagi, Kasai and Nakazawa. Both are grumpy hybrid wrestlers so it’s only natural for a showdown between the two. Sakaguchi isn’t in the mood to talk about the match. Suzuki cares a little more but he’s rather enjoying teasing Sakaguchi over his public reputation for being a bad guy. Expect this match to get physical.

ryogoku-akebonodino

8. Dramatic Dream Match: Danshoku Dino Vs Akebono

Danshoku Dino is an ass man. This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. What could be a surprise is Dino might not be able to handle the next ass he’s in the ring with. Akebono was last in DDT for “SAITAMA SUPER DDT” at the Saitama Super Arena. Since then he’s won some titles, created his own wrestling company Odo and got punched in the back of the head by Bop Sapp. You know, the usual stuff Akebono likes to do. For this match Dino has been trying to hunt down the asses of various wrestlers as some sort of power up but the plan hasn’t been a success. He’ll need to pull out every trick he can think of to win but it’s possible. Dino once defeated Bob Sapp. He can do the same to Akebono!

9. KO-D Tag Team Titles – Uchicomi! Presents: Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo (c) Vs Daisuke Sasaki & Shuji Ishikawa

The New Generation Combination are currently DDT’s top tag team. Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo are the leading examples that DDT’s future is in good hands. But for the last month they’ve had a duo barking up their tree and snapping at their heels. Daisuke Sasaki is a crafty veteran who has had success in the past. However his luck changed when he fell in love with Candice LeRae. After teaming with her he bent down on one knee and proposed. She turned him down and he had a mental breakdown when he found out she got engaged to someone else immediately afterwards. Unable to handle rejection Sasaki started bringing a dog leash with him. When he demanded a tag team title shot without having any tag partners he went out and got a dog named Adrien. The “dog” then showed up and attacked the New Gen Combo. He unmasked and was revealed to be Shuji Ishikawa! Sasaki now has a partner and together they want the tag titles. Takeshita & Endo believe they are the future of pro wrestling and they’re not going to drop the titles to a dumped man and his pet dog.

10. KO-D Openweight Title – Good Com Asset Presents: Isami Kodaka (c) Vs HARASHIMA

The KO-D Openweight Championship has been around Isami Kodaka’s waist since November. Things have been great for him. His new promotion BASARA is doing well, he’s a tag team champion in All Japan and he’s been unbeatable in DDT. If there is anyone who has the best shot at winning the title from him it’s good old Mr. Reliable himself, HARASHIMA. For the 5th time in his career HARASHIMA is in the headline match for DDT at Sumo Hall. The last time was in 2014 in a 3 Way Match with Kodaka and Kenny Omega. HARASHIMA got the pin on Kodaka to keep the title. This time he’s going in as challenger and he aims to leave with the belt. Kodaka equates this match to the rivalry between Kenshiro and Raoh in Fist Of The North Star. Isami is Kenshiro, HARASHIMA is Raoh. Isami is desperate to win and he’ll even use the Muso Tensei if he has to!

Yukio Sakaguchi is the winner of this year’s King Of DDT and is guaranteed a KO-D Openweight Title match at “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2015” this August. Sakaguchi defeated Kazusada Higuchi by referee stoppage in the semi finals while Konosuke Takeshita overcame Daisuke Sasaki. In the final Sakaguchi used his knee strikes to great effect and finished off Takeshita with the newly named Right Knee Of God. Right now the Sumo Hall match-up is Sakaguchi versus KUDO, two wrestlers from the same unit. That almost wasn’t the case…

All of the Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contracts have now been used up and as a result caused some temporary chaos in the main event scene. Yasu Urano pinned Masa Takanashi in a 6-Man Tag Team match to win his contract. Urano then cashed in the contract for a KO-D Title match against KUDO there and then. The two fought hard and were both laid out when Ken Ohka suddenly appeared. Taking a page from Seth Rollins, Ohka cashed in his own contract in the middle of the match! He went after KUDO but had to settle with pinning Urano to become the new champion! However KUDO stayed in the ring and cashed in his own contract for an immediate title match. Ohka fought with all his heart but was out of his depth. KUDO defeated Ohka to win back the title and will go on to the Sumo Hall main event.

tanahashi-chalenges-harashima

Hiroshi Tanahashi made a surprise appearance to announce he will be wrestling at “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2015”. He wanted to wrestle against the best wrestler in DDT and that is HARASHIMA! HARASHIMA said he isn’t normally interested in wrestlers from other companies but he is interested in fighting Tanahashi.

Shigehiro Irie stole Kazuki Hirata’s glasses before the opening match and used them to dance. He and Hirata had a dance battle for the glasses that ended in Irie knocking out Hirata with the Beast Bomber.

DJ Nira grouped together Gota Ihashi, the referee and ring attendants to shield himself from Kota Umeda during the King Of Dark Title match. Nira then climbed on top of the group to do an assisted Rocket Punch but Umeda High Kicked him in mid-air for the pin. Since Ihashi was not involved in the result he is still the King Of Dark Champion.

takagi-akai

Genichiro Tenryu will team with Sanshiro Takagi & Saki Akai for a 6-Person Tag Team match at the Sumo Hall show. Their opponents will be revealed at a later date. Sanshiro Takagi’s original idea was to do Tenryu Vs Akai but he decided the two teaming together would be more interesting.

lilico-returns

A pop idol and former Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion made her return to DDT for an announcement. LiLiCo will have her debut pro wrestling match at Sumo Hall. She has already been training for three months and she wants a match with Gorgeous Matsuno.

7. King Of DDT 2015 – Round 1: Daisuke Sasaki defeated Kota Umeda with the Cross Facelock (13:00).

10. King Of DDT 2015 – Round 1: Shigehiro Irie defeated Yasu Urano with the Package Piledriver (24:44).

An eventful King Of DDT 1st Round filled up the majority of today’s show. Yukio Sakaguchi beat Keisuke Ishii and compared the tournament to climbing a mountain. Makoto Oishi overcame Hiroshi Fukuda’s shenanigans and used Fukuda’s USA flag to celebrate afterwards. Masa Takanashi attacked Akito as he entered the ring. Akito countered the Takatonic into a Knee Crusher but Takanashi withstood the pain and cradled Akito for the fast victory. Takanashi stole the DDT Extreme Title afterwards but gave it back when HARASHIMA confronted him backstage. Konosuke Takeshita bested Antonio Honda in the battle of Happy Motels. Takeshita hopes to fight for the KO-D Openweight Title at Sumo Hall this year instead of facing a guest wrestler like last time. Daisuke Sasaki went over Kota Umeda. Sasaki planned on Umeda relying too much on High Kicks and he was right. Kazuki Hirata going full blast right from the start wasn’t enough to beat Kota Ibushi. The HIRATA GO glasses were placed on Ibushi’s face but he quickly took them off so he could win the match. Kazusada Higuchi restarted his journey towards another KO-D Title shot by overpowering Tomomitsu Matsunaga. Finally Shigehiro Irie earned a hard fought victory over Yasu Urano.

The 2nd round matches on 14th June are Yukio Sakaguchi Vs Makoto Oishi, Masa Takanashi Vs Konosuke Takeshita, Daisuke Sasaki Vs Kota Ibushi and Kazusada Higuchi Vs Shigehiro Irie.

Well this is a first. The reigning KO-D Champion now has possession of a Right To Challenge Contract. KUDO wiped out both Danshoku Dino and Soma Takao in a 3 Way Match. Takao had Dino in position for the Gin And Tonic when KUDO hit the Diving Double Knee Drop on Takao. KUDO then hit a second Diving Double Knee Drop this time on Dino to win one of his two contracts. Amon Tsurumi decided that if KUDO is still holding both the KO-D Title and the contract at the 9th August Beer Garden show (the last DDT event before “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2015”) then the contract will be declared invalid and removed from contention.

ohka-window

KUDO and Tsurumi were then interrupted when Ken Ohka showed up outside the building and stood on two chairs at the window with a microphone. He said he was monitoring KUDO and then promoted tomorrow’s Ganbare☆Wrestling show in Tokyo. Tsurumi told Ohka it’s dangerous to stand next to the glass like that. KUDO said Ohka has certainly changed but he will crush him anytime. KUDO then said he hopes to defend the belt and then have a toast at Sumo Hall.

Sanshiro Takagi and the Arrogant Bastards were determined to successfully perform the DEATH FROM ABOVE Diving Headbutt. They finally succeeded on the third try and got the win. The Bastards were informed they only have two more dates left on their Japan visit and they requested to add one more before leaving. They were told the only extra show available is a Ganbare☆Wrestling event taking place tomorrow. Neither knew what that company was but they accepted the gig none the less.

At last Gota Ihashi has escaped from his dark match nightmare. An angry Ihashi went into his King Of Dark Title defence complaining about forever being an opening act. As Suguru Miyatake was about to respond, Ihashi attacked him to start the match. Ihashi quickly went for a Moonsault but missed. However a Cross Body Block shockingly got him the three count and transferred the King Of Dark Title over to Miyatake.

*KUDO will cash in his Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract.

The main event is back on! KUDO reclaimed his Right To Challenge contract from Daisuke Sasaki and still intends to cash it in at Korakuen Hall at the end of the month.

Devin Sparks & Ric Ellis are a Californian tag team known as The Arrogant Bastards. They approached Sanshiro Takagi requesting to participate in the audition for new T2Hide members. Takagi’s advice to them on Twitter is if they can dance better than Kazuki Hirata, they will pass the audition.

Aja Kong is back. She is still the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion last time I checked.

1. Power Of Dreams Vs Enjo-gun: Yumehito Imanari & Chikara Vs Shibata & Mitomi Masayuki
2. Oretachi Nario No – Road To KO-D!?: Ken Ohka Vs Yukihiro Abe

Ken Ohka is now a marked man because of the Right To Challenge contract he currently possesses. Yukihiro Abe has challenged him to a match for the contract. Abe sees this as an opportunity to return to DDT, win the KO-D Title and face all of the new wrestlers that have appeared since he left. Ohka is determined not to lose. However there is danger lurking in the background. Mitomi Masayuki from Enjo-gun also wants a match with Ohka and is not happy to be ignored.

The Brahman Brothers are coming to challenge Shuji Ishikawa & Masato Shibata for the UWA Tag Team Titles. The Brahmans think the champions are freaks. In their minds Ishikawa acts like he’s Jesus and Shibata looks like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters. The Brahmans are preparing for the match by eating a lot of hamburgers and coming up with tactics to attack Shibata’s feet because that is his weak point.

*Danshoku Dino wins one of Daisuke Sasaki’s Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contracts.
5a. London Tea Time Match: Danshoku Dino defeated Daisuke Sasaki with a London Tea Time Kiss (1:38).
*Danshoku Dino wins Daisuke Sasaki’s other Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract.
6. Yasu Urano & Akito defeated Keisuke Ishii & Soma Takao when Urano pinned Takao with a Horizontal Backslide Pin (11:30).
7. Thank You Teisen! Goodbye Teisen! Special Match: HARASHIMA, Kota Ibushi & KUDO defeated Shigehiro Irie, Konosuke Takeshita & Kazusada Higuchi when Ibushi pinned Takeshita with the Sit Down Last Ride (21:17).

This was DDT’s final solo show held inside Sapporo Teisen Hall. The building will be closing down next month but everyone got to say farewell and talk about their favourite memories wrestling in the building. HARASHIMA’s memory was his first KO-D Openweight Title challenge (as HERO!) against Poison Sawada JULIE. Kazusada Higuchi only wrestled in the building for the first time today but he will never forget his KO-D Title match with HARASHIMA. Keisuke Ishii and Shigehiro Irie’s memory is winning the KO-D Tag Team Titles for the first time back in December 2011. Tomoya was thankful for working with DDT whenever they are in Sapporo but singled out the time himself and MIKAMI challenged for the KO-D Tag Titles. KUDO’s memory is himself and Yukio Sakaguchi Vs the Golden Lovers for the KO-D Tag Titles. Sanshiro Takagi fondly remembers throwing a bowling ball at Michael Nakazawa, missing him and making a big hole in the wall behind them.

Today was not a lovely day for Daisuke Sasaki. After losing a Right To Challenge Contract to KUDO on the earlier show, Sasaki now had to face Danshoku Dino one on one. Dino requested a London Tea Time Match. The rules were just an excuse for Dino to kiss Sasaki. It was rejected and the match started normally. Dino immediately kissed Sasaki and pinned him in the process to win one of Sasaki’s two remaining Right To Challenge contracts. Sasaki begged for a rematch and would even accept the London Tea Time Rules. Dino agreed and the match restarted. Sasaki tapped out Dino with the Cross Facelock but the move didn’t count under the new rules. Dino countered the move into a roll up and a kiss to pin Sasaki again! Dino wound up winning both of Sasaki’s contracts, leaving Sasaki empty handed!

Antonio Honda, Masa Takanashi and Saki Akai all had to wrestle blindfolded for their 3 Way Match. They also had to drink liquor whenever music was played (I think the drinks where handed to them by the ref). Due to the blindness there was a lot of missed attacks. Yukinori Matsui got the brunt of the damage due to mistake identity. He got fed up with being attacked and Clotheslined both Honda and Takanashi. Akai unknowingly crawled over both of them at the same time and Matsui counted the pin. She was given more liquor as a prize.

5. KUDO & Masa Takanashi defeated Daisuke Sasaki & Suguru Miyatake when KUDO pinned Sasaki with the Diving Double Knee Drop (13:25).
*KUDO wins one of Daisuke Sasaki’s Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contracts.
6. Falls Count Anywhere Special 4 Way Match: Konosuke Takeshita defeated Kota Ibushi, Sanshiro Takagi and Danshoku Dino when Takeshita pinned Dino with the German Suplex (13:28).
7. KO-D Openweight Title: HARASHIMA (c) defeated Kazusada Higuchi with the Somato (20:18).
*V1 for HARASHIMA. Kazusada Higuchi cashes in his Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract.

In the short space of six months, Kazusada Higuchi went from his debut pro wrestling match in DNA to challenging for the KO-D Openweight Title in the main event of a DDT show. He’s been undefeated throughout that period and cashed in his Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract in Sapporo to gain a home field advantage. But despite the former sumo’s power advantage, HARASHIMA withstood his attacks and fought back with the John Woo Dropkick and Reverse Frankensteiner. Higuchi ducked the Buzzsaw Kick and hit a desperation German Suplex for a nearfall. HARASHIMA quickly recovered and hit the Buzzsaw Kick twice before finishing him off with the Somato. HARASHIMA called Higuchi really strong for someone who has just been a pro wrestler for six months. He permitted Higuchi to ask for more matches against himself in the future.

sapporo-anywhere1sapporo-anywhere2sapporo-anywhere3sapporo-anywhere4

As part of today’s farewell party to Sapporo Teisen Hall, DDT put together a special Falls Count Anywhere 4 Way Match that pulled out all the stops. Sanshiro Takagi brought a bowling ball, Kota Ibushi was armed with fireworks, Danshoku Dino lustfully attacked the audience and Konosuke Takeshita found a dolly tray. Takagi placed a chair flat on Dino’s stomach and dropped the bowling ball onto it. Ibushi dragged everyone outside the building so he could attack them with fireworks and also Moonsault off of a vending machine. Takeshita placed Ibushi and Takagi onto the dolly at separate times and pushed them into a row of chairs. Yoshihiko then suddenly appeared to aid Dino. Takeshita German Suplexed Ibushi while Ibushi was German Suplexing Yoshihiko. Takagi then delivered a stacked Sit Down Himawari bomb to Dino with Yoshihiko sitting on Dino’s shoulders. Yoshihiko was still wrapped around Dino’s neck when Takeshita hit a German Suplex of his own on Dino for the win. Ibushi then ignited his remaining fireworks as he left ringside while Yukinori Matsui yelled at him.

Daisuke Sasaki was introduced as the “Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Triple Crown Holder”. But by the end of the day he would have lost all of it. The first defeat was to KUDO in a tag team match. The rest happened on the second show which I will bring up later. Sasaki tried to flee from the match whenever he could to protect his investments. KUDO got revenge and won back the contract he lost to Sasaki one week ago. KUDO confronted HARASHIMA at the end of the show to tell him their KO-D Title match at Korakuen Hall on 31/5 is back on schedule!

Kouki Iwasaki was the other wrestler celebrating his homecoming today. He is a martial arts graduate of Kenichi Yamamoto’s POWER OF DREAM dojo in Sapporo. He even had new theme music.

Antonio Honda & Tomomitsu Matsunaga began the opening 3 Way Match before Kazuki Hirata could do his dance entrance. He got to do it after he won.

Order Of Elimination: Suguru Miyatake, Kazunori Huzioka, Yukio Sakaguchi, Saki Akai, DJ Nira, Makoto Oishi, Masa Takanashi.
3. Antonio Honda, Konosuke Takeshita & Hiroshi Fukuda defeated Sanshiro Takagi, Toru Owashi & Kazuki Hirata when Honda pinned Hirata with the Scorpion Death Drop (9:42).
4. Anytime, Anywhere Holder 3 Way Match: Daisuke Sasaki defeated KUDO and Kazusada Higuchi when Sasaki pinned KUDO with the Sasaki Huracanrana (11:38).
*Daisuke Sasaki wins KUDO’s Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract.
5. Different Life ~Sound Of Impermanence~: Jinsei Shinzaki defeated Danshoku Jinsei with the Paradise Lock (11:38).
6. KO-D Tag Team Titles: Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi (c) defeated HARASHIMA & Yasu Urano when Okabayashi pinned Urano with the Golem Splash (19:25).
*V3 for Strong BJ.
7. DDT Extreme Title – Last Man Standing Match: Akito (c) defeated Shigehiro Irie with a Cross Heel Hook (29:27).
*V2 for Akito.

What has become quite possibly the most impressive DDT Extreme Title run continues as Akito survived a Last Man Standing challenge from Shigehiro Irie. With the 10 count beginning after every successful pin or submission, the two fought hard. So much so that the metal fillings used to hold the ring ropes broke after Irie hit the ropes hard. The two fought outside while the ring was repaired. Irie almost won after doing a Piledriver, Flying Sausage and Beast Bomber but Akito got up at 9. Akito got up at 9 again after another Beast Bomber followed by the Package Piledriver. The champion fought back by targeting Irie’s knee, striking it with a chair and locking in the Arm Clutch Figure Four Leglock. Irie managed to get up by 9 but one last Beast Bomber from him was countered into a Cross Heel Hook. Irie tapped and could not get back to his feet in time. Akito was proud to defend the title in his home of Nagoya and felt he was able to give a little back to the people with his performance. He claimed this match was not the end of the story between himself and Irie. It is just the beginning.

Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi continue their KO-D Tag Team Title reign after a victory over HARASHIMA & Yasu Urano. Despite HARASHIMA’s recent return to the top, he was cancelled out by Sekimoto and held back while Okabayashi finished off Urano. MIKAMI approached the champions after the match. He was granted a wish for winning the Amon Tsurumi Cup earlier in the night and he wanted to announce what it was. He wants a KO-D Tag Title shot and his partner will be Shuji Ishikawa! Sekimoto & Okabayashi are ready and waiting for the challenge.

Danshoku Jinsei was shaking with nerves as he began wrestling against Jinsei Shinzaki. However he gained enough confidence to use some of Shinzaki’s own moves against him, most notably the Rope Walk. Yukinori Matsui was knocked out by an unintentional Lip Lock and that allowed Makoto Oishi to interfere. He tried to shove Shinzaki’s face into Danshoku’s rear end but that backfired. Shinzaki then attacked Danshoku’s ass and forced him to submit to the Paradise Lock. After the match Shinzaki asked Dino to stop his Danshoku Life pilgrimmage. Dino said he would if he could get a kiss from him. Shinzaki reluctantly agreed to kiss him on the cheek but Oishi told him that tomorrow is Dino’s birthday so it should be on the lips. After being urged by everyone in the arena, Shinzaki kissed Dino on the mouth. Dino suddenly transformed back to normal and chased Suguru Miyatake around ringside. Oishi proclaimed that Danshoku Dino has returned from Hades and regained his sanity!

Daisuke Sasaki added another Right To Challenge Contract to his collection after pinning KUDO in the 3 Way Match. Sasaki now has 3 contracts and won’t stop until he has them all! The result of this has cancelled the original main event of the next Korakuen Hall show on 31st May. KUDO was supposed to cash in on that day to get his KO-D Openweight Title shot against either HARASHIMA or Kazusada Higuchi. Now the main event has been declared blank.

Yukinori Matsui got to wear the HIRATA GO glasses and join in with the dancing in Match #3. He Lariated everyone who tried to take them off him. After the match Sanshiro Takagi said he is very busy running two companies at once so T2Hide should recruit new members to take his place. An audition will take place on the 31/5 Korakuen Hall show.

The winner of the Amon Tsurumi Cup would be granted one wish for anything as long as it was in the GM Amon Tsurumi’s authority to grant it. Tsurumi’s Muscle employee Kazunori Huzioka was unexpectedly entered the match against his will. Yukio Sakaguchi ordered him to take off his jacket if he wouldn’t fight. Huzioka did so and revealed he was wearing a bra underneath. Sakaguchi then made him tap to a Sleeper Hold for an elimination. MIKAMI wound up winning the match and told Tsurumi he will ask for his wish when the time comes. That turned out to be the Tag Title challenge at the end of the show.

With the help of Minoru Fujita, Ken Ohka was finally able to gain some ground on Enjo-gun and gain something big for his troubles. Ohka pinned Mitomi Masayuki and won his Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract! Ohka thanked Fujita for his aid. They shook hands but then Fujita suddenly DDT’d Ohka! Fujita apologised and called it a bad habit. Fujita explained he now has a family and that prevents him from wrestling often. He broke down in tears as he told his story. Ohka told Fujita he is always welcome in Ganpuro.

Yumehito Imanari was happy to have a match with Chikara. He felt it got them to bond more and strengthen as a team. Chikara told Imanari he is still really immature but he will become stronger. He promises to do his best for their Power Of Dreams tag team.

A high stakes 3 Way Match guarantees one Right To Challenge Contract will change hands. Daisuke Sasaki wants to have every contract for himself so he can have a Plan B, C, D and E if his eventual cash in fails. He currently has two in his possession but he risks losing one if KUDO or Kazusada Higuchi beat him. Speaking of those two, they are both just weeks away from cashing in their contracts. To lose it now would be catastrophic for that person.

Amon Tsurumi will be the judge for his own Battle Royal. He will pick the winner based on whoever best meets his standards, whatever they are.

5. Daisuke Sasaki defeated Konosuke Takeshita by Countout (16:23).
6. 3 Way Match: Kazusada Higuchi & Ryota Nakatsu defeated HARASHIMA & Yasu Urano and KUDO & Masa Takanashi when Higuchi submitted Takanashi with the Canadian Backbreaker (14:30).

The DNA team surpassed expectations and were victorious in the main event 3 Way Match. Kazusada Higuchi stopped HARASHIMA from hitting the Somato and laid him out with the Goten. Masa Takanashi tried to sneak a pin but Higuchi caught him and applied his Modified Canadian Backbreaker to make him submit. KUDO looked on in interest knowing that when he cashes in he will be fighting either HARASHIMA or Higuchi for the KO-D Openweight Title.

Daisuke Sasaki has made it his goal to collect all of the Right To Challenge Contracts. However this means he is also willing to get cheap wins to avoid losing any of them. Sasaki lured Konosuke Takeshita outside the ring and was chased over to the entrance stage. They both climbed up the entrance gate but Sasaki quickly jumped off and tried to run back to the ring. Takeshita caught up and they brawled until Sasaki found an open closet and trapped his opponent inside. Sasaki made it back to the ring in time while Takeshita got counted out. Sasaki later demanded a 3 Way match between himself, KUDO and Kazusada Higuchi for 17th May.

Sanshiro Takagi predicted X was going to be Shiori Asahi. He was correct. He got to dance with Saki Akai when the HIRATA GO glasses came into play. He also pinned Akai with a Backslide Pin that involved shoving both his and Akai’s heads into the bare asses of Makoto Oishi and Danshoku Dino respectively before doing the move properly.

One of the contracts is now in Union hands. Mitomi Masayuki pinned DJ Nira in the dark match to win his contract. Masayuki said he doesn’t know when he will cash in but he wants to do it on a Union show.

It was revealed the Right To Challenge Contract holders will not be allowed compete in this year’s King Of DDT tournament.
