takanashi-doubleknee

The Korakuen Hall ring was filled with orange tape when Masa Takanashi entered the ring for his KO-D Openweight Title match against Isami Kodaka. The little alcoholic was in a familiar place as the underdog but he’s been able to pull off miracle victories before. He went for a big move when he and Kodaka were both on the apron. Takanashi attempted to do the Takatonic onto the floor but Kodaka escaped and hit a Tope Suicida to the challenger instead. Kodaka had a rough landing and wound up with a bloodied eye. Takanashi hit the Takatonic inside the ring for a nearfall. Late in the match he hit another Takatonic and then the Diving Double Knee Drop in tribute to KUDO for another close call. Kodaka fired back with two Diving Double Knee Drops but Takanashi still had fight left in him. He was able to block the first Isamuashi Zan but Kodaka immediately struck him with a Right Knee Strike. The second Isamuashi Zan found its target and put an end to Takanashi.

irie-vs-harashima

Amon Tsurumi announced HARASHIMA Vs Shigehiro Irie on 28th February to determine Kodaka’s challenger at Sumo Hall on 21st March. Irie said he never beat HARASHIMA before. Getting over that hump and beating Kodaka for the championship will the best birthday gift he can give himself. HARASHIMA said Irie won today’s match but he will not win next month. It will be HARASHIMA winning the title at Sumo Hall. Kodaka said no matter who wins between HARASHIMA and Irie, it will be himself as the last man standing. The winner of the Sumo Hall main event will also get a 2 million yen cash prize from Good Com Asset.

dino-welcomes-akebono

Two other big matches for Sumo Hall were announced. Danshoku Dino Vs Akebono and Yukio Sakaguchi Vs Minoru Suzuki! Dino said he does not know sumo but he will welcome Akebono to DDT! Sakaguchi said both he and Suzuki will be prepared to kill and slaughter each other. Also Saki Akai, Makoto Oishi & Lady Beard reform the Kawaii Connection to face LiLiCo and two mystery partners.

irie-bomber-higuchi

Shigehiro Irie literally ran through his opponents to win the 4 Way Match. He crashed into HARASHIMA to stop him from hitting the Somato then laid out Kazusada Higuchi with the Beast Bomber.

extreme-gouma-urano

In the days leading up to the DDT Extreme Title match Kendo Kashin kept saying he had a consultant to help him choose his partner to face Yasu Urano & Akito. The consultant was BASARA’s wrestling lawyer Ryu Gouma. Antonio Honda entered the ring expecting to be Kashen’s partner. Gouma was ready to announce the partner when Kashin interrupted and said it was him! Gouma took a beating throughout the match but Honda distracted the referee and Kashin nailed Urano with a chair shot. Kashin passed the chair over to Akito and convinced the ref that Akito was the one who used it. With the ref distracted again Kashin grabbed Gouma’s lawbook and hit Urano repeatedly with it. He then dragged Gouma on top of Urano for the pin. Gouma winning the match counts as a successful title defence for Kashin. Honda entered the ring again waiting for Kashin to nominate him as the next challenger. Kashin said he picks Honda… and Yoshihiko!

thebigdog

Happy Motels were pretty happy with a victory over Team Drift. Amon Tsurumi approached them after the match to talk about Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo’s next KO-D Tag Team Title defence. Suddenly Daisuke Sasaki appeared and he said he found a tag team partner. He brought out The Big Dog!!! His mystery partner came to the ring to the Rocky theme song wearing a mascot dog costume. Sasaki said the dog’s name is Adrien. The New Gen Combo accepted their challenge for Sumo Hall. They offered a handshake but Sasaki & Adrien attacked! Adrien hit the champs with the Running Knee Lift and Fire Thunder Driver. He then took off his costume and revealed himself to be Shuji Ishikawa!

sasadango-apology

Super Sasadango Machine gave an apology through his latest PowerPoint presentation. The apology was for the delay of production and publication date for DDT’s next movie. He also revealed the stipulation for the #OhkaEmpire Vs T2Hide Tag match. The Only One Hole In The World Match refers to Amon Tsurumi. The match could be won by pinfall, submission, Ring Out or by inserting a unique one of a kind item into Tsurumi’s… um… hole. Tsurumi had his pants pulled down but no one was able to achieve the goal. The Hirata GO! Glasses came out and everyone danced until all four knocked each other over the top rope to the floor. The match ended in a draw and Tsurumi was left in the ring with his backside exposed.

takagi-kenso-ironman2

The Ironman match began 10 minutes before the doors opened to the public. Both Sanshiro Takagi and KENSO appealed to the absent audience for their support before locking up. The score was already 1-1 when fans began to enter Korakuen Hall. By that point Takagi and KENSO were fighting around ringside. A castle of chairs was constructed 20 minutes into the match. At the 25 minute mark both wrestlers brawled their way into an elevator and took the fight outdoors in front of the fans lining up outside the building. Takagi was winning 4-2 when he and KENSO went into a kiosk and the match was away from view. During this time KENSO somehow scored 9 points in a row to take the lead 11-4! He then got another pin to make it 12-4. They returned to the ring at the 30th minute and Takagi threw KENSO into the castle of chairs. The damage was so much that Takagi pinned him several times to bring the score up 12-11. The two disappeared backstage and both returned on bicycles, Takagi on his Combat Bicycle and KENSO on a Granny Bicycle. The Battle Of The Bicycles ended when they crashed into each other. KENSO stared down a female fan for eating rice balls near him. Takagi said “DDT is good at eating rice balls!” KENSO grabbed the rice balls and threw them away. Takagi got angry and attacked KENSO for what he did. He then promised the woman that she will be reimbursed for the rice balls. The fans in the building then started chanting “Reimburse!” With 45 minutes gone and 25 minutes until the show began properly it was time for the King Of Dark Title match to begin!

takagi-kenso-ironman3

The Ironman match was still going when dark match wrestlers made their entrances. Takagi and KENSO decided to join in, unofficially making the match a 6-Man Tag. Takagi sided with Hiroshi Fukuda & Mizuki Watase but accidentally hit Watase with a Lariat. KENSO gave Watase a Brainbuster and Gota Ihashi Splashed Watase to win the match! Ihashi happily placed the King Of Dark Title belt on Watase’s body while Takagi and KENSO brought out lockers for the final minutes of their match. Takagi pinned KENSO against the turnbuckles with a locker and then Dropkicked the locker into KENSO to tie the score 15-15. One minute was left to go and both men were exhausted. KENSO gave Takagi a Brainbuster but both of them landed on top of the other locker. Both were counted out because they couldn’t stand and the match ended in a draw, 16-16. KENSO demanded a 25 minute long overtime while Takagi said they should start a 61 minute Best 2 out of 3 match right now! Amon Tsurumi called the requests unreasonable. Takagi brought up doing the rematch at Sumo Hall on 21st March. Tsurumi agreed and made the match. It will be a Falls Count Anywhere Weapon Treasure Hunt Tag Team Match. Takagi will team with Jun Kasai and KENSO will team with Michael Nakazawa! Takagi and KENSO accepted the match and gave each other a fist bump just like Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles did at the Tokyo Dome.

1. Antonio Honda, Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo defeated Kazusada Higuchi, Kouki Iwasaki & Shunma Katsumata when Endo pinned Katsumata with the Sky Twister Press (13:47).
2. Sanshiro Takagi, HARASHIMA & Mizuki Watase defeated Danshoku Dino, Makoto Oishi & Hiroshi Fukuda when HARASHIMA pinned Fukuda with the Somato (10:29).

The event was a crossover between DDT and the pop idol group BiSH. However it seemed that neither party was aware that the other was involved. The audience came to the event expecting a BiSH concert and found a wrestling ring was also set up in the venue. The show began with an announcement welcoming everyone to DDT Pro Wrestling. DDT provided two matches but the second bout was interrupted by BiSH beginning their concert. Sanshiro Takagi and Danshoku Dino interrupted the performance and told the singers to wait until their match was over. Back in the ring Hiroshi Fukuda grabbed a mic and said he will show BiSH the best wrestling and entertainment around. He was then kicked in the head by HARASHIMA and pinned with the Somato.

Dino wasn’t happy with the situation and decided to kiss BiSH’s producer until he was unconcious. Makoto Oishi then got involved. As a self-proclaimed idol lover he said BiSH were not idols, therefore they weren’t qualified to continue their concert. HARASHIMA, Takagi & Mizuki Watase stood up to Oishi and said since they won the match that means BiSH can go back to singing. The music started up but Dino & Oishi grabbed two of the idols and brought them over to the ring. They attacked them with Dino’s Danshoku style offence until Takagi, HARASHIMA, Watase, Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo all came to the rescue. With their help the girls got their revenge and helped defeat Dino & Oishi. The DDT wrestlers then allowed BiSH to finish their performance. When that was done Oishi apologised to the girls. He admitted he does like BiSH and revealed he was wearing their T-shirt all along. He asked if he could dance with them for their finale and they agreed.

5. New Year Lottery 5 Way Match: Ken Ohka defeated Minoru Fujita, Hi69, Yukihiro Abe and Osamu Namiguchi when Ohka pinned Abe with the Spear Of Flame (10:30).

Against all odds Ken Ohka managed to spoil Tomodachi-gun’s party and win the 5 Way main event. The plan was for all of Tomodachi-gun to gang up on Ohka and beat him down 4 on 1. However Osamu Namiguchi had other ideas and tried to pin his own stablemates because the match was still all against each other. Minoru Fujita tried to keep things under control but his plan fell apart when Namiguchi helped Ohka fight the rest of Tomodachi-gun. They both hit a Spear on Fujita and Hi69 then Ohka Speared Yukihiro Abe for the three count. Namiguchi and Fujita brawled after the match and Fujita kicked Namiguchi out of Tomodachi-gun. Ohka grabbed a mic and said he wants to bring Abe back to Ganbare☆Wrestling. He also offered to team with Namiguchi again but Namiguchi declined and left ringside.

Both Bambi and Yumehito Imanari were given a specific weapon for their Hardcore match. Bambi had her whip and Imanari was given a bag of candy. He tried to hit Bambi with the bag but was whipped over and over instead. Bambi force fed him the candy after she won the match.

Madoka’s mystery partner turned out to be PSYCHO! They easily defeated Shinichiro Tominaga & Tigger Bedscene and PSYCHO was welcomed into Tomodachi-gun with open arms. PSYCHO was given a Tomodachi-gun T-shirt but he threw it down and walked away. Madoka then tried to act like PSYCHO wasn’t his friend and left the ring embarrassed.

During Match #2 Dr. Kirico unmasked himself to reveal it was Shuichiro Katsumura! With an assist from Shibaten he was able to submit J-Soul Pandita III IV. Katsumura apologised for sneaking onto the show in disguise and he then pulled out a piece of paper that had 宣戦布告 (Declaration of war) written on it. Until now he watched the feud between Ganpuro and Tomodachi-gun in silence. He now has his sights set on Fujita!

Tomodachi-gun claimed that the results of last month’s Ganbare☆Wrestling Grand Prix Awards were all mistakes. Here are the correct award results according to Tomodachi-gun.

Poison Sawada JULIE claimed that his student Poison Miura has become so strong after training that she did not need a tag partner to wrestle Saki Akamiya & Hyper Misao. The match became a Handicap match instead. Akamiya used a hand mirror to deflect JULIE’s magic back at him. Suddenly KANNA appeared wearing snake magic make up and she Speared Akamiya, allowing Miura to clamp the Cattle Mutilation on Misao and make her submit. JULIE introduced the audience to Poison KANNA! She entered the Snake World wanting to become stronger after she lost her match at the 4th January Korakuen Hall show. JULIE said he will continue to remodel Tokyo Joshi into Snake World Joshi! All of a sudden Akamiya summoned Mitsuya Nagai to the ring! Few of the girls recognised him. Nagai promised to train Akamiya so she can beat JULIE’s growing snake army.

Ai Shimizu said she will leave Tokyo Joshi Pro on 2nd April, shortly after her 35th birthday. However she is not retiring from wrestling. She promises to fight with all of her strength for her remaining matches.

*V1 for Yankee Two Kenju.

ambush-foiled

Unfortunately for the hometown hero, Keisuke Ishii failed to win the All Asia Tag Team Titles with Shigehiro Irie. The current champions Yankee Two Kenju isolated Ishii and hit him with move after move until he was down for the count. Ishii showed brief signs of life when he suddenly caught Isami Kodaka with a Frankensteiner but his Kneel Kick was stopped with the Isamuashi Zan to end the match. Kodaka thanked the fans for cheering because it heated them up on a very cold day. The match was good preparation for his KO-D Openweight Title defence against Masa Takanashi.

Speaking of Takanashi, he ambushed Kodaka with a radish backstage after the show. Yuko Miyamoto saved Kodaka by throwing a box full of vegetables at Takanashi. They left Takanashi lying on the floor underneath the box crying. Guanchulo then walked past Takanashi, ignored him and grabbed one of the vegetables to eat.

The Battle Royal was sponsored by a local greengrocer. Every wrestler was given a vegetable they had to eat in the ring and say how delicious it was in order to compete in the match. If a wrestler could not do a convincing job advertising the vegetable they would be instantly eliminated. Thankfully everybody involved did their part with no hassle. Antonio Honda was rewarded with a basket of aloe from the greengrocer for winning the match.

Seiya Morohashi complained that a man like himself who has been wrestling for 18 years does not deserve to be in the dark match. He said he would crush Gota Ihashi. Then he got pinned in 9 seconds to become the new King Of Dark Champion. Morohashi begged for a rematch and this time he quickly beat Ihashi to transfer the belt back over to him. One more rematch was agreed to but was forced to end in a draw after 3 minutes right when Ihashi was about to do a Moonsault.

7. Isami Kodaka & Takumi Tsukamoto defeated FUMA & Daichi Kazato when Kodaka pinned Kazato with the Isamuashi Zan (21:07).

basara-debut

From the ashes of Union Pro Wrestling comes Pro Wrestling BASARA. Even though the roster for the first show featured many of the Union regulars, they all revealed new costumes, entrance songs and personalities throughout the night. This really was an attempt at making a brand new promotion rather than just more of the same under a different brand name. The director of BASARA Isami Kodaka welcomed everyone to the show and played the brand’s theme song “UTAGE” by T.M. Revolution. Kyohei Wada was introduced as the surprise guest referee for the evening.

basara-mainevent

In the main event Kodaka teamed up with one of his big signings Takumi Tsukamoto formerly of Big Japan. Tsukamoto entered the ring carrying a giant spiked hammer to go along with Kodaka’s samurai sword. Their opponents were FUMA & Daichi Kazato. FUMA captured everybody’s attention when he entered the ring wearing an all black costume including a face mask. He played an electric guitar to the song “Kings Of Metal” by Manowar. After a 20+ minute battle Kodaka avoided Kazato’s Sister Abigail and hit the Isamuashi Zan to score the victory. FUMA berated Kazato after the match and said he’s not tough enough to be heavy metal. But FUMA did say there is someone who is heavy metal enough to team with him… Madoka! He came down to the ring but didn’t understand what was going on. FUMA asked him to join forces and become a heavy metal tag team. Madoka still didn’t understand but kind of accepted.

sekimoto-fukuda-usa

Hiroshi Fukuda wore a Star Spangled Banner coloured bodysuit for his match against Daisuke Sekimoto. Early in the match Fukuda did some vocal exercises whenever Sekimoto was held back after a rope break. Unfortunately his American firepower was no match for Sekimoto. Though he lost, Fukuda gracefully accepted defeat and shook hands with Sekimoto. His performance earned Sekimoto’s respect and both were given a thunderous applause. Fukuda mentioned he spent his free time watching the Rocky movies in preparation for the match. While watching Rocky 3 he realised he can become stronger by training with his best friend. He hopes he can train with Sekimoto so he can grow strong enough to beat him.

sekine-nakatsu-teamup

Ryuichi Sekine invited Ryota Nakatsu into the ring after Match #5 and asked to form a tag team with him. Sekine sees BASARA as a new territory that is only going to grow. The two of them can be more dangerous together as a team instead of both going commando.

kubo-hi69

Another former Union wrestler had a complete fashion overhaul for BASARA’s debut. Yusuke Kubo wrestled in a bright red mask and costume. He also carried a steal pipe to the ring but the referee ensured he didn’t get to use it. Hi69 won the match but Kubo pushed him away afterwards. He said he wants to get results differently from everyone else and do things his own way, hence the mask he now wears.

sagat-basara

SAGAT is turning into an uncontrollable beast! His face was painted green and purple, his gear was covered in fur and he is now armed with a scythe attached to a chain. Although he was pinned in the tag match he yelled the names of his partner and opponents backstage afterwards. He kept saying “Most Dangerous!” over and over before breaking into a fit of laughter.

konoka-maruyama-gouma

Not much has changed for Ryu Gouma since Union closed down. He is still the wrestling lawyer and he still wears a suit in the ring except now his shirt is blue. Gouma said he spent 20,000 yen on the new suit for the occassion. At one point during the 3 Way match the wrestlers collided with the referee and all of them ended up in a lewd 4-person position.

nakatsu-hidaka

Ryota Nakatsu’s new gear is a baseball themed silver shorts with black vertical lines on them. He went toe for toe with Ikuto Hidaka but fell to a Stray High Kick. Nakatsu refused a handshake after the match, instead just tapping Hidaka’s hand away from him.

The show is scheduled to take place at noon and the doors to Korakuen Hall will open at 11:00 am. The Iron Man Match will begin at 10:50 am because the final 10 minutes before show time needs to be spent preparing the ring and making sure it is ready. It’s the only way a 60 minute match can be added to the card plus it’s Sanshiro Takagi Vs KENSO so nobody’s really missing anything if they arrive late. In their own minds it’s a legendary rivalry that must finally reach a climactic conclusion. In reality? Meh.

Oh, and the King Of Dark Title match is set to take place at the same time as the last 10 minutes of the Ironman match. Things could get messy.
