2. Asuka, Toru Owashi & Naomi Yoshimura defeated Akito, Antonio Honda & Tomomitsu Matsunaga when Asuka pinned Honda with the Moonsault Press (11:40).
3. Yukio Sakaguchi Marunage Match ~ Mascara Contra Cabellera: Ultraman Robin defeated Gota Ihashi with the Ultra Dynamaite (8:13). (Special Referee: Yukio Sakaguchi)
4. Kota Umeda, MAO & Yukio Naya defeated HARASHIMA, Kazusada Higuchi & Mizuki Watase when Umeda pinned Watase with the Umeda Driver (14:30).
5. Yuki Ueno defeated Daisuke Sasaki with a Crucifix Pin (16:08).
6. Nagoya Specialty! Miso Stew Special 3 Way Tag Match: Chris Brookes & Masahiro Takanashi defeated Tetsuya Endo & Mad Paulie and Konosuke Takeshita & Shunma Katsumata when Brookes pinned Katsumata with the Praying Mantis Bomb (16:00).

The 3 Way Tag main event was crazy but Chris Brookes was able to navigate his way through the madness, picking off opponents when they didn’t expect it. When Konosuke Takeshita had Tetsuya Endo pinned in a Power Bomb position, Brookes broke it up with a Missile Dropkick. Brookes used another Swan Dive Dropkick to knocked away Endo while landing Senton style across Takeshita’s back. Brookes then took out Mad Paulie with an RKO before putting Shunma Katsumata away with the Praying Mantis Bomb. Afterwards Brookes again said that he doesn’t care if he’s facing Endo or Takeshita on 21st July. He will win the KO-D Openweight Title anyway! Brookes is also calling his team with Masahiro Takanashi the Calamari Drunken Kings.

There was a lot of shenanigans in the Daisuke Sasaki Vs Yuki Ueno match. Soma Takao tripped Ueno then later attacked him when the ref was down. Naomi Yoshimura got rid of Takao with a Lariat but Sasaki gave him a Low Blow when he wasn’t looking. Ueno rolled up Sasaki but the ref was still out of action. When he finally got up, Sasaki went for the Cross Facelock but Ueno countered it into a Crucifix for the upset victory. Ueno credited his warm up match before the show as the reason why he won against Sasaki.

Kazusada Higuchi was given a Choke Slam for the first time thanks to Yukio Naya. Higuchi called it an amazing move and a threat for when he faces Naya one on one. He is taking this match seriously and hopes it will be an attacker against another attacker.

Akito is warning Asuka that she does not know him as a singles wrestler and that version of him won’t show up until their DDT Extreme Title match. She also hasn’t experienced that kind of matches Akito fought in when he last helt the title so he is feeling relatively confident right now.

At the start of the show Ultraman Robin came out wearing a different mask than his usual design. He said his original mask was stolen and accused Gota Ihashi as the thief. During their match, Ihashi threw Robin into the special referee Yukio Sakaguchi. The clash was so painful that Sakaguchi was brought back to the locker room and Yukinori Matsui had to take his place. Ihashi had Robin beaten when suddenly another Ultraman appeared, this one wearing Robin’s mask. He put Ihashi in a Sleeper Hold. Ihashi pulled off the mask during the struggle to reveal it was Sakaguchi! He hit the God’s Right Knee to Ihashi and Robin finished him off with the Ultra Dynamite Lariat to win. Ihashi had to get his head shaved as part of the stipulation but only the middle was shaved of to match the mask’s centre ridge. Ihashi later reappeared with his head fully shaved.

The trainee Keigo Nakamura got to have an exhibition match with Yuki Ueno before the show began. It is not his official debut so a lot of the moves used were the basics.

5. Grasp The Best WONDERFUL LIFE! Iwasaki’s Greatest! – Southside Wrestling World Title: Shigehiro Irie (c) defeated Kouki Iwasaki with the Beast Bomber (16:41)
*V6 for Shigehiro Irie.

Shigehiro Irie’s tour of Japan with the Southside Wrestling World Title has lead to a string of defences in a short period of time. The sixth and latest defence was against Kouki Iwasaki at Ganbare☆Wrestling. Irie said that he will be going back to Europe with the title but he hopes to wrestle Iwasaki again. However Ken Ohka entered the ring and demanded a shot at the title on 17th July. Irie said he won’t be in Japan that day. Ohka then asked for a match in August. Irie couldn’t commit so Ohka then told Irie to challenge him the next time he comes back to Japan. Irie then suddenly knocked out Ohka with the Beast Bomber.

The combined powers of the GPW alliance succeeded in beating Real GUTS Army in a violent clash. Yumehito Imanari came out wearing a leather jacket similar to Jon Moxley’s “MOX” jacket but with “SEX” on the back instead. Ohka was busted open but with the help of Imanari & Miss Mongol, was able to pin Shota with the Thunder Fire Power Bomb. After the match Ohka demanded Guts Ishijima to bring back the retired GWC 6-Man Tag Team Titles that used to be defended in Guts World until its closure. Ohka explained that life is a fight with guts. If GUTS do not want to be in a title match then they have no guts! Ishijima accepted the demand and will bring back the titles on 17th July.

Hiroshi Yamato challenged Shuichiro Katsumura for the Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Title. Yamato said he has now wrestled in over 50 different wrestling promotions and if he becomes the Independent Jr. Champion he can then raise the belt’s prestige and also the wrestling scene at large by defending it in various different promotions.

Champ Phoenix made the mistake of taking Choun-Shiryu lightly, treating him as an easy opponent and leaving his guard open so Shiryu could pin him with La Magistral Cradle. Shiryu told Phoenix that he’s been living in Japan for 15 years so he should have been treated with respect.

The rookie Shuhei Washida is showing more aggression in his matches. He refused to shake Mitomi Masayuki’s hand before their match and even had to be held back by the referee at one point. However Masayuki took over and used a modified Camel Clutch called the Baby Clutch to make Washida submit.

Masayuki announced before the show that he is forming his own promotion called P.P.P. Tokyo. He said he learned to work hard in Ganpro and will use that spirit to make this new project succeed. P.P.P. will have a business relationship with Ganpro. The first sign of this is Ganpro hosting a match at the debut P.P.P. show in Shinjuku FACE on 30th September.

6. DAMNATION Vs ALL OUT!: Tetsuya Endo, Soma Takao & Mad Paulie defeated Konosuke Takeshita, Akito & Shunma Katsumata when Endo pinned Katsumata with a Swan Dive Firebird Splash (16:22).
7. Saki Akai, The 4th Local Triumph! Kyoto Specialty Special Tag: HARASHIMA & Saki Akai defeated MAO & Asuka when HARASHIMA pinned MAO with the Somato (17:44).

Saki Akai got to join in with HARASHIMA’s usual show closing speech.

A Lariat from Konosuke Takeshita was meant to be for Tetsuya Endo but he dodged it and Akito took the hit instead. Endo then took over with Shunma Katsumata and pinned him with the Spinning Torture Rack Bomb followed by a Swan Dive Firebird Splash.

The debuting Chris Brookes got to mess around with Makoto Oishi as the two tried to one up each other with little tricks and holds. Brookes said the match was just him adjusting himself so he can get ready for “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2019”. He has seen Takeshita and Endo’s matches before and thinks he can beat either of them for the KO-D Openweight Title. But first he wants to concentrate on tomorrow’s 3 Way Tag Match with Masahiro Takanashi as his partner.

Both Yuki Ueno & Naomi Yoshimura are so sick of being kicked in the balls by Daisuke Sasaki that they figured out when he sets up the move. Sasaki pulled Daisuke Kiso into Yoshimura’s way but when he went for the Low Blow, Yoshimura had him scouted and struck Sasaki down with a Lariat. He hit the Throwaway Power Bomb and Ueno recovered Kiso to count the pin. Ueno said he and Yoshimura will definitely win the KO-D Tag Team Titles and bring the belts to DISASTER BOX.

The battle of the DDT mascots saw Yukinori Matsui somehow getting the brunt of the attacks. With the ref down, Pokotan brought in a chair but couldn’t use it because Matsui was about to get up. So instead Pokotan took off its head, made a dent in it, put it back on and passed the chair over to Doradori-kun. The trick worked and Matsui disqualified Doradori-kun, thinking he attacked Pokotan with the chair. This match was booked by Kazusada Higuchi. He said he couldn’t be in the venue to see it but somehow he showed up at the end of the show to lead the audience to the exit…

Yukio Naya gets his first direct win in DDT. He wants to gradually release his strength as time goes by. Tomorrow in Nagoya he will be even stronger.

6. I Am A Popular Man! Two Big Singles Match: Soma Takao defeated Naomi Yoshimura with the Sorarina (11:09).
7. DAMNATION Vs ALL OUT!: Konosuke Takeshita & Shunma Katsumata defeated Tetsuya Endo & Mad Paulie when Takeshita pinned Endo with a Crucifix Pin (16:23).

It was a bad day for Tetsuya Endo. First he was pinned by his enemy Konosuke Takeshita. An attempt to do a Handspring off the ropes was caught by Takeshita and turned into a Crucifix Pin for the unexpected three count. Then after the match Sanshiro Takagi entered the ring and gave Endo a Stunner. Hisaya Imabayashi asked if this meant Takagi was going to cash in his Right To Challenge Gauntlet. Takagi declined and said he only did it to tease Endo. When he left Endo said he will smash Takagi whenever he ues his title shot. And at “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2019” when everyone is expecting him to be at 200% power, he will instead be at 300% power! When Endo left the ring, Takeshita gave the last word. He asked the audience if they wanted to see Takeshita Vs Takagi at Ota Ward? Only one person applauded. He then asked if they would rather have Takeshita Vs Endo? Most of the audience applauded. Finally Takeshita promised that if Endo is fighting at 300%, then he will be at 350%!

Soma Takao used a distraction with the referee to block Naomi Yoshimura’s Shonenba. Takao then kicked Yoshimura below the belt and pinned him with the Sorarina. Yoshimura and Yuki Ueno have said they will never forgive Takao for kicking both of them in the nuts during matches!

With Daisuke Sasaki out of action with food poisoning, Nerima Sting needed a new opponent. One was found from a nearby city, Kodaira Sting! Their match was interrupted by the surprise appearance of Man Man Kai Kind! He gave both Stings the Mandible Claw then left. Yukinori Matsui was later knocked out by a Nerima Stinger Splash which led to another surprise appearance. This time it was Dildo Love! Nerima easily got rid of him with the Scorpion Death Drop. Kodaira tried to put Nerima in the Scorpion Deathlock but Man Man Kai Kind reappeared to give him another Mandible Claw. Nerima then reversed the Scorpion Deathlock for the win.

The pairings of Yukio Naya and Kazusada Higuchi as well as Yukio Sakaguchi and Kota Umeda were provoking each other during Match #4. The two pairs have singles matches at Korakuen Hall on 30th June. Makoto Oishi encouraged Naya and Umeda to show their fire in those matches.

The match between Toru Owashi and Antonio Honda went off the rails when a chair was brought in. Honda placed the chair on top of Owashi then when he climbed the turnbuckles, Daisuke Kiso counted to three and declared the chair to be the new Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion! The match continued but with the chair still in the ring. A sudden game of musical chairs began and Kiso joined in. He sat on the chair when the music stopped and Yukinori Matsui then counted to three. Now Kiso is the Iron Man champion! Honda tried to use Gongistune on Kiso but Kiso used his own Gongitsune, tangling the two of them up in nipple pinches. Owashi gave them a double School Boy and Matsui counted the pin on both. That means Owashi pinned Honda to win the match and he also pinned Kiso to win back the title.

Asuka ignored Akito’s requests for a handshake before their match then booted him in the head after it was over. Akito’s thought process over their DDT Extreme Title match is an interview where Asuka said she can do anything. So Akito wants to use a match stipulation that Asuka has never been in before.

BASARA Going Independent In 2020

June 11, 2019

DDT “ULTIMATE PARTY 2019! DDT GROUP BIG SET!”, 03/11/2019
Tokyo Ryogoku Kokugikan

1. Special Single Match: Sanshiro Takagi Vs Isami Kodaka

A press conference was held today between Sanshiro Takagi and Isami Kodaka to announce that BASARA will be going completely independent from DDT at the end of the year. The final BASARA show under the DDT umbrella will be their winter Korakuen Hall show on 28th December. A new office for BASARA will be established this October to run the promotion in 2020 along with a new website and service for live ticket sales.

The full list of people joining this new office for BASARA are Isami Kodaka, FUMA, Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi, Gouma Ryu, Daichi Kazato/Best Stretchman V3, SAGAT, Yusuke Kubo, Ryota Nakatsu, Takumi Tsukamoto, Ryuichi Sekine, Daiki Shimomura, Takato Nakano, Fuminori Abe, Masato Kamino, ring announcer Rikiya Shindo and referee Yuya Okada.

This was something Kodaka had wanted to do with BASARA since the beginning, to build something from scratch and do his best to run it on his own. At 38 years old Kodaka thinks that now is the time in his life to take that challenge. He has faith in his roster to take this big step forward. The shows themselves will not be that different. What Kodaka has now with BASARA is what he wants to continue, just as an independent entity.

To mark this decision, a match has been booked between Kodaka and Takagi for November’s Sumo Hall show which is featuring all of the DDT promotions. The two have only had one singles match before back in 2013. Kodaka won that match. Takagi believes he will be the KO-D Openweight Champion thanks to his Right To Challenge Gauntlet and promises to defend the title against Kodaka at their November match. Kodaka was asked if he would also put the BJW Death Match Title on the line if he is still the champion by then. Kodaka smiled and said that is looking too far into the future.

Takagi later mentioned that DDT will be keeping the existing footage of BASARA shows on DDT UNIVERSE and will continue to have the remaining shows for 2019. Nothing has been decided yet for 2020 onwards.

———————————————————————–

As for continuing BASARA coverage on this blog, I’m following the same path for now. Sticking with them throughout 2019 and seeing what happens in 2020. I would like to continue following BASARA and if their online presence is still easy to find once they go independent, I should be fine with them. But if they go the Hard Hit route where info for shows are sparse then I may have to drop it.
