5. The 1st UNIVERSE CUP – Round 1: The Great Sasuke defeated Isami Kodaka with La Magistral Cradle (12:24).
6. The 1st UNIVERSE CUP – Round 1: Hayabusa defeated Yumehito Imanari with the Firebird Splash (14:06).

The first round of the inaugural UNIVERSE CUP took place, pitting eight wrestlers from eight different promotions against each other. The common ground linking almost all of the promotions together is that they are a part of the Wrestle Universe streaming service. Add in the randomness of Monday Magic and the result is a bunch of unexpected surprises in store both in and out of the tournament.

Hayabusa from ZERO1 defeated Yumehito Imanari from Ganbare☆Pro in the main event. Imanari was crushed over the loss because he was originally part of Wrestle Universe from the very beginning when it was called DDT Universe. Hayabusa will meet Naomichi Marufuji from NOAH in the semi-final. Marufuji had to deal with Kuroshio TOKYO Japan’s antics today. Even thought Kuroshio lost, he doesn’t want to go away. The Uptown wrestler asked Marufuji backstage if he can come over to NOAH? Marufuji simply told him no.

The Great Sasuke and Isami Kodaka went wild for their 1st Round match. The Michinoku Pro legend gave Kodaka a Piledriver onto the entrance ramp and also slammed him onto a pile of chairs at ringside. Kodaka almost got him back with a Brainbuster but Sasuke pinned the BASARA wrestler with La Magistral Cradle for the victory. Kodaka hopes he can come back to Monday Magic and maybe get some NOAH bookings too. Sanshiro Takagi had an adventure of his own when he had to fight not just one mummy, but two! While he fought The Great Mummy in the ring, NOSAWA Rongai brought down a second Great Mummy to add some confusion to the mix. Luckily for Takagi, Mecha Mummy showed up to help him and Takagi went on to win the match for DDT. NOSAWA swears he will get revenge on Takagi by sending his mummy wrestlers over to invade Super Japan!

6. Special Single Match: KANON defeated To-y with the GURU-GURU Driver (15:49).

There were Chops and Slaps a-flying between KANON and To-y in the main event. To-y went high risk too with a dive over the corner of the ring onto KANON outside. KANON used Lariats to turn the tables on his opponent and soon won the match using the GURU-GURU Driver. With To-y now beaten, KANON then called out Yuki Ueno to get into the ring. Ueno told him he’s strong but the KO-D Openweight Title needs to be carried by someone who can lead DDT towards everyone’s dreams. KANON admitted he isn’t strong mentally but he will win the KO-D Title and prove his worth as a wrestler. He then told the Osaka fans he is about to take on the biggest challenge of his life and when he returns here he will be standing on top of the DDT mountain!

The Toyonaka Tag of Sanshiro Takagi & Rukiya were victorious in their match today. Rukiya is so proud of where he comes from that he declared he will become the next tourism ambassador of Toyonaka City! Takagi wants to be part of it too and share the roll with him because there has never been a tag team that became tourism ambassadors before. Takagi later claimed that he has already contacted city officials to put the plan into motion.

When the Handicap Match ended too quickly, everyone agreed to restart it. This time the match used elimination rules that included knocking your opponents out of the ring to eliminate them.

5. Shuichiro Katsumura & Yuya Susumu defeated Keisuke Ishii & Shinichiro Tominaga when Susumu submitted Tominaga with the Crossface Lock (11:31).
6. Spirit Of Ganbare World Openweight Title: Mizuki Watase (c) defeated Takuya Wada with the Venetian (16:08).
*V1 for Mizuki Watase.

The first title defence is in the bag but it almost could have gone so wrong for Mizuki Watase. He was ready to fight Takuya Wada, “The King Of Pancrase” and didn’t expect he would face Takuya Wada the pro wrestler. Watase kept simulating the match over and over to prepare for today and had the conclusion that as long as he wouldn’t give up to Wada’s submission holds, he would win in the end. That was proven right and he won by pinning Wada with the Venetian.

After the match Shuichiro Katsumura challenged Watase for the Spirit Of Ganbare World Title and the champion said it is a match suitable to headline Korakuen Hall. That comment led to a chain reaction of different wrestlers getting into the ring. Keisuke Ishii said Katsumura was jumping the gun and if anybody deserved to be in a Korakuen title match main event again it is him. Then Yuya Susumu showed up complaining that Ishii should be fighting him next instead of getting a title shot again. PSYCHO also got into the ring to let everyone know he wants the next shot without actually saying anything. Michiyoshi Mishima thought a 4 Way Match should between everyone should determine the No. 1 Contender until someone shouted it should be a tournament instead. Mishima agreed and made a one day tournament for 28th March for the No. 1 Contendership. Ishii and Susumu will finally have their singles match while Katsumura faces PSYCHO. Meanwhile Watase said he wants to go have a title defence over in America before the next Korakuen show happens!

Shigehiro Irie must be missing Germany while the 16 Carat Gold Tournament is happening over there this weekend. He used his AUF DIE FRESSE finisher (holds the opponent’s arm in a Hammerlock behind their head and then knocks them down with an Elbow Butt) to win his match.

Some other matches were made for upcoming GanPro shows. On 28th March YuuRI will face Rin, the former Rin Kadokura who recently returned to wrestling but will be retiring from the business this upcoming May. Ken Ohka also wants to form a Toyama trio with Shinichiro Tominaga & Akira Shoji at that show. Then on 29th April there are two matches booked so far. The first is Ohka & Guts Ishijima Vs Masaaki Mochizuki & Ryota Nakatsu to celebrate Ohka’s 25th Anniversary in wrestling. The other match is YuuRI Vs Utami Hayashishita from Marigold!

4. STRANGE LOVE CONNECTION Vs FANTÔMES DRAMATIC!: MAO, KANON, Yukio Naya & Viento Maligno (w/ KIMIHIRO) defeated Chris Brookes, HARASHIMA, Antonio Honda & Hinata Kasai when Maligno pinned Kasai with the Driver Maligno (13:03).
5. Special 6-Man Tag Match: Takeshi Masada, Yuya Koroku & Daichi Sato defeated Yuki Ueno, To-y & Rukiya when Masada pinned Rukiya with the Manburi (13:33).
6. Special Tag Match: Daisuke Sasaki & Ilusion defeated Kazuma Sumi & Akito when Sasaki pinned Sumi with a School Boy Counter (18:16).

For the second time in a row Daisuke Sasaki has found a way to counter Kazuma Sumi’s School Boy, turning victory into defeat for his upcoming challenger. His message to Sumi is so clear that it should be on the cover of the next Shukan Puroresu magazine: School Boys don’t work against him! Sasaki wants the fans to look at Sumi so they will see there are no hopes or dreams in this world. Sumi wants to prove Sasaki wrong because hopes and dreams are why he is in this ring soon to fight for the DDT Universal Title.

The New Generation Army got to beat two thirds of the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions, although it was the person who declined to join his classmates Rukiya that got pinned. After the match Takeshi Masada, Yuya Koroku & Daichi Sato revealed the official name of their unit. They are now called paleyouth. Masada said they will now be dyeing the DDT ring in any colour they want.

The 37KAMIINA are licking their wounds after losing to paleyouth today. To-y wanted to make it known that it is not because he is getting tired from doing several title matches all close together. He gets excited to be in championship matches and wants to be in them even more. Meanwhile Yuki Ueno brought up that Kaisei Takechi has been itching to win his next match after he lost to Ueno at Korakuen Hall two weeks ago. It turns out he really does not like losing. Ueno also gave advice to Rukiya, telling him it is now up to him to prove the path he took is the right one.

The newcomer Viento Maligno gave his first communication to DDT fans today, whispering his story to KIMIHIRO for him to tell everyone. Accordng to KIMIHIRO, Maligno felt evil winds sweep over him in the country where he lived but the winds here feel very gentle. That’s why he loves Japan and the Japanese people.

5. Special Single Match: To-y defeated Hideki Okatani with a Slap (14:57).

Before their DDT Extreme Title match can take place at DDT’s anniversary show on 22nd March, To-y and Hideki Okatani had a warm up singles bout against each other on today’s D GENERATIONS event. To-y ended up getting his first ever win against Okatani after slapping him to the mat and keeping him pinned down for the three count. He doesn’t understand why Okatani had kept himself quiet for so long while To-y was doing title defence afer title defence to become the absolute best Extreme Champion.

After wrestling each other one on one Takeshi Masada and Daichi Sato both believe they are now on the same page. They will be ready to challenge for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles alongside Yuya Koroku on 11th March.

Mikiya Sasaki carried a croquet mallet to the ring to replicate the times when one of the Funk Brothers would carry down a branding iron. Ilusion demanded they have a Scramble Bunkhouse Death Match with the mallet place in the middle of the ring. The two of them then went out over to the wall and began the match both sprinting to try and grab the mallet before their opponent could. While the weapon was used plenty, the match came down to several Low Blow between the wrestlers, some intentional and some accidental. Sasaki applied the Spinning Toe Hold but Ilusion countered it into an Inside Cradle to win the match.

5a. Rematch: Mizuki, Raku & Pom Harajuku defeated Shoko Nakajima, Yuki Aino & Haru Kazashiro when Harajuku pinned Nakajima with the Pom de Justice (10:54).
6. Yuki Arai, HIMAWARI & Shino Suzuki defeated Miu Watanabe, Toga & Uta Takami when Arai submitted Watanabe with the Scorpion Death Lock (14:07).

The tide is turning back towards favoring Yuki Arai because she just made Miu Watanabe tap out! A Full Nelson Buster from Arai helped set up the Scorpion Death Lock. Watanabe tried her hardest to crawl her way to the ropes but when she reached out to grab one, Arai was able to press her hand down while still applying pressure with the hold. Watanabe had no choice to tap out and it was in such a subdued manner that it took a few taps for Fumirin to realize Watanabe was giving up. Arai asked after the match if Watanabe now gets what she is all about? Watanabe admitted she can feel how serious Arai is taking this and now wants to know how much she loves pro wrestling. She promised not to lose to Arai next time and also not to lose to her at Sumo Hall. Arai said backstage that she wants to continue moving forward with condifence because today’s win made her realise she can win the Princess Of Princess Title from Watanabe on 29th March. She’s going to work even harder because she doesn’t want people to think today’s result was a fluke.

The ToJo Tokusatsu Club took their eyes off the prize and paid for it today. Their entrance to the Juken Sentai Gekiranger theme song was interrupted by the other team ambushing them and all getting the three count with roll ups! Shoko Nakajima called the other team cowards for winning that way because the hero’s introduction is meant to be a manifestation of their soul. Mizuki agreed to a rematch and the Club went back to doing their sentai pose only for Pom Harajuku to attack them again. The attempt to form a Megzord didn’t work this time because Harajuku Shin Kicked Yuki Aino & Haru Kazashiro before they could all combine. Instead Raku & Harajuku held up Mizuki for their own super special triple team. Kazashiro moved out of the way though which made the other team all sad. The Club’s attempt at triple teaming blew up in their faces and Harajuku scored the upset win of the day by pinning Nakajima with the Pom de Justice. The Club learned that Harajuku really is trying to win her matches while they themselves have become cocky over the recent Super Sentai news for “GRAND PRINCESS ’26”.

As we get closer to Sumo Hall, Hyper Misao took it upon herself to go through a trial. She told Mifu Ashida she would fight Daisy Monkey by herself but whenever she gets into trouble, she will need Ashida to cheer her on. Ashida’s cheerleading had her rubbing the pom poms into Suzume’s face so Misao could then spray her after the distraction. It became a regular tag match from there and Arisu Endo used the Ju no Okite on Ashida to get the win.

Kaya Toribami showed up today looking no worse for wear after her ninja training with Genichi Mitsuhashi during the week ended in mystery. Afer her match she told everyone she found out what she needs to do. She then made an unexpected announcement that 15th March will be her final match! The reason for that is because after 15th March, Toribami will become a brand new wrestler going by the name Sakura Hattori!

It was announced today that a Battle Royal will be held at Sumo Hall and Rika Tatsumi will be a part of it to defend the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title. However after recently studying her madness under Cookie from Yasei Bakudan, Tatsumi warns that another version of her might appear in the match instead. She is calling this new alter ego The Great Wakabayashi-kun.

The show began with Sanshiro Takagi introducing everyone to the new idol he scouted to wrestle at “GRAND PRINCESS ’26”. She is Momo Sato from the group Harajuku Gakuen. She is from Kanagawa, was born on 5th January, 2011 and stands 157cm tall. She is also the younger sister of Daichi Sato from DDT and has some experience being in a wrestling ring from training in the HEAT-UP Dojo. She even once participated in a recital match at Korakuen Hall while she was in fifth grade. Takagi scouted her when she went to a recent show to support her brother. She will be taking part in the Battle Royal and Takagi recommended she should ask her brother to teach her all kinds of wrestling moves. Momo then told Takagi that Daichi used to put her in the Camel Clutch.

During the week Kaya Toribami told Tokyo Joshi Pro she was going on a trip to Iga City on short notice and would record a vlog of her visit to the area. There she met Genichi Mitsuhashi, the first person to ever get a PhD for Ninja Studies in Mie University. She then spent the day training with him in his dojo. After learning some new techniques she was encouraged to visit a nearby Bishamonten shrine. When she walked inside the grounds she found a Oni mask and suddenly began to convulse after she picked it up. The footage ended there but allegedly Mitsuhashi found Toribami and sent her back to Tokyo. A short time later TJPW received a video from Mitsuhashi of Toribami falling into a trance after the convulsions and then unmasking herself before walking behind one of the shrines, leaving her mask behind…

Sanshiro Takagi will be at the show to reveal the new idol he scouted for a match at Sumo Hall.

5. Union MAX Title – 3 Way Match: Shuji Ishikawa (c) defeated Daichi Kazato and Tsutomu Oosugi when Ishikawa pinned Kazato with the Splash Mountain (15:29).
*V2 for Shuji Ishikawa.

Shuji Ishikawa survived a 3 Way Match against two opponents who spent most of the match teaming up against him. The alliance between Daichi Kazato and Tsutomu Oosugi eventually broke down and that proved to be both of their downfalls. With them divided, Ishikawa found his spot to attack and won the match by pinning Kazato with the Splash Mountain. After the match he said a wrestler’s individuality is what makes them tick although Kazato is maybe a little too unique. Backstage Ishikawa said the match has sharpened his mind and he’ll keep defending his Union MAX Title. Oosugi took the responsibility for moving away from the plan with Kazato. He admitted to changing his mind halfway through the match when he started thinking he could win by himself. Kazato explained how the true enemy is the one within yourself. He thinks they can both beat Ishikawa next time if they can convince Takeru Inoue to join in and make the fight three against one.

The two teams in the upcoming Iron Fist Tag Team Titles match quickly got into a brawl with each other in Match #4. Takumi Tsukamoto ended up scoring the win for his side after giving Takato Nakano the Spinning Zudon. Despite feeling sore, Nakano said Aijin Tag are ready for the next warm up match as well as the tag title match later this month. Masato Kamino said Aijin Tag will win the Iron Fist Tag Titles because the belts were made for them. Tsukamoto is confident that he and Daiki Shimomura have what it takes to beat them on 27th March. They also doubt the challengers love the championships as much as they claim they do.
