With another title defence in the books, Speed Of Sounds think everything was easy-peasy today. Last time they held the IRON FIST Tag Titles they defended them for a year. This time they want to defend it for two years so it will feel like going from Normal difficulty to Hard mode. IRON PRIEST thought they had everything it took to win the titles today. Yusuke Kubo thinks their plan fell apart in the middle of the match. FUMA put everything he gained from the two years since the teams last fought each other into the match and felt he failed right at the end. They will not lose hope though and are ready for a rematch whenever and wherever Speed Of Sounds want it.

For the last time Isami Kodaka and Tank Nagai got to wrestle each other. After the match ended in a draw, Kodaka told Nagai that just because his wrestling career is ending does not mean his life is. No matter what Nagai does next, Kodaka wants him to remember this match and go for it. Nagai said he and his wife Mio Shirai are about to have their third child. The next time he comes to BASARA in some form, he’ll be able to show the power of all five members of his family.

2. Jacket Double Bout: Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi & Gouma defeated Yusuke Kubo & Daichi Kazato by Referee Stoppage when Hiroshi used the Infinite STO on Kazato (R4 1:58).
3. Masato Kamino defeated Daiki Shimomura with the Lariat (13:15).
4. Fuminori Abe, Takuya Nomura & Yasu Urano defeated Isami Kodaka, Tsutomu Oosugi & Banana Senga when Abe submitted Oosugi with the Manjigatame (11:49).
5. Union MAX Next Challenger Decision League – Final: Ryota Nakatsu defeated FUMA with the V Slider (21:02).

Ryota Nakatsu wins the Decision League and will face Takumi Tsukamoto for the Union MAX Title at Korakuen Hall on 24th October! Nakatsu praised FUMA and admitted he could have lost to him today. Nakatsu called out Tsukamoto and called him really strong. Tsukamoto returned the compliment but told him he isn’t going to win the MAX Title from him. Nakatsu told the fans he and Tsukamoto are both 30 years old and they are going to have a passionate fight at Korakuen.

The 6-Man Tag Match was built around two things. The first was the amount of champions involved in the match. Isami Kodaka, Fuminori Abe and Takuya Nomura all entered carrying belts from several different promotions. The second was Astronauts and Speed Of Sounds facing off to see who is stronger. Abe made Tsutomu Oosugi submit to win the match but asked SOS if they could fight them again on 24th October for the IRON FIST Tag Titles. SOS accepted and Banana Senga said they will show Astronauts the true essence of tag team wrestling.

Toru Owashi attacked Isami Kodaka and Daiki Shimomura after Match #3. He almost Choke Slammed Shimomura onto a pile of chairs but was stopped and kicked out of the venue. As Owashi was leaving he told the Sento Minzoku wrestlers to polish the UWA 6-Man Tag Team Title belts every day because his team are coming to take them on 24th October!

Extra stipulations were added to the Jacket Match after every round. The first round was using regular tag rules, the second turned into a Tornado Tag Match and the third round onwards allowed weapons to be used.

The email was signed off by Toru Owashi! A title match will go ahead at Korakuen but nobody has been confirmed for the challenger team yet.

Union MAX Next Challenger Decision League

August 8, 2021

The next few months in BASARA will be spent searching for the person who will challenge for the Union MAX Title at Korakeun Hall on 24th October. A fan vote was held with the majority of the roster taking part (champions and their upcoming challengers were excluded) and the top five qualified for a round robin league. The five contestants are:

1. Ryota Nakatsu (24 Votes)
2. Isami Kodaka (21 Votes)
3. FUMA (17 Votes)
4. Takato Nakano (10 Votes)
5. Masato Kamino (8 Votes)

There is only one group and at the end of the league stage the top two wrestlers will face off in the final. 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for losing. Every match has a 30 minute time limit.

This morning Tokyo Joshi Pro announced that Yuka Sakazaki will be returning to AEW for an excursion next month. Sakazaki will wrestle her match with Suzume on 1st July in Japan and afterwards will travel to America for a month long stay. It will be Sakazaki’s first time wrestling in USA since February 2020, before the Covid-19 pandemic became global. Due to this absence, Sakazaki will not be entering this year’s Tokyo Princess Cup. Unless there is a change with Japan’s two week self isolation rule over travelling, Sakazaki will not be back in TJPW until after the 7th August show. She is guaranteed to be back wrestling on the 14th August Korakuen Hall show onwards. I figure there might be one or two episodes of “THAT’S J-PW” with her still in it that will air on WRESTLE UNIVERSE while she is gone.

The next KO-D Openweight Title defence will be held in Kawasaki Stadium. The challenger is likely going to be the winner of King Of DDT 2021. The champion himself Jun Akiyama is entering the tournament and gets to nominate his challenger if he wins it. Akiyama has gone on record wanting to choose Sanshiro Takagi as his opponent so two wrestlers in their 50s will be fighting for the championship.

I guess if you’re going to do a major outdoor show at Kawasaki Stadium you have to have Atsushi Onita in an exploding ring death match. The venue will have two rings set up with one of them being used for the explosion match.

TAMURA and Raimu Imai from HEAT-UP will both be on the show. TAMURA is an 18 year veteran while Imai only turned professional last December.

3. Fuminori Abe & Daiki Shimomura defeated Takumi Tsukamoto & Takato Nakano when Shimomura pinned Nakano with the Swanton Bomb (12:39).
4. Heaven Summit ~Itadaki~ – Round 2C: SAGAT defeated Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi with the Goregrind (12:47).
5. Heaven Summit ~Itadaki~ – Round 2D: FUMA defeated Isami Kodaka with a Cross Armbreaker (17:10).

SAGAT and FUMA move on to face each other in the semi-final on 29th June.
