3. Isami Kodaka & Takumi Tsukamoto Vs FUMA & Daichi Kazato

The big mystery I have about BASARA is what FUMA’s role will be. The leader of King Legion had until now been quiet about his participation with the new brand. He told Kodaka at “NEW YEAR LOTTERY SPECIAL! 2016” that he will not stay quiet when the show takes place and he intends to crush him.

Nakatsu is honored to face Ikuto Hidaka in the opener. It is the perfect match for him to wrestle his own way without any limits.

6. HARASHIMA, Ken Ohka & Danshoku Dino defeated Yukio Sakaguchi, Masa Takanashi & Kota Umeda when Ohka pinned Takanashi with the Spear Of Flame (16:06).

The show was a homecoming for both Ken Ohka and Yoshiaki Yago. Ohka had the spotlight in the main event and was given a bouquet of flowers before the match. Kota Umeda’s first outing as an official member of Shuten-dōji didn’t go so well. He was given the Danshoku Driver and Somato during the finishing sequence. Yukio Sakaguchi was incapacitated by Danshoku Dino’s Lip Lock. After the match Ohka talked about when he began wrestling and being told he was too weak to become a pro wrestler. But he grew and grew enough to became a champion and now he won a main event in his hometown.

Keisuke Ishii and Tetsuya Endo had to be pulled apart after Match #3.

1. Soma Takao defeated Kazuki Hirata with the Gin And Tonic (12:07).
2. Annual Beer Garden Oretachi Chopper Wrestling: Keisuke Ishii, Antonio Honda & Konosuke Takeshita defeated Danshoku Dino, Toru Owashi & Kazusada Higuchi when Honda pinned Dino after a Double Jumping Knee Strike (15:38).
3. Shigehiro Irie Produce ~ YaroZ Boxing Glove Match: Kengo Mashimo defeated Gota Ihashi by KO with a Straight Right (4R 3:44).
4. Hardcore 4 Way Match: Shigehiro Irie defeated Daisuke Sasaki, Yuko Miyamoto and Gran Pasho Mask #4 when Irie pinned Pasho Mask with the Final Impact onto a pile of chairs (25:27).

Today was Team Drift’s turn to present a Beer Garden show. The main event was a chaotic hardcore match between Shigehiro Irie, Daisuke Sasaki, Yuko Miyamoto and Irie’s guest from Dera Pro Wrestling, Gran Pasho Mask #4. Chairs, garbage cans, bamboo swords and a barbed wire baseball bat were all used in the match. A wire mesh security barrier was laid over two chairs and Irie was thrown off the top rope through the barrier. Sasaki used the barbed wire bat to assist his Crippler Crossface on Irie. He later dove out of the ring onto all three of his opponents. It all ended badly for Sasaki when he and Miyamoto fought each other on top of some scaffolding. Miyamoto gave Sasaki the Fire Thunder from the scaffolding into a draped landing pad below. Back in the ring Irie destroyed Pasho Mask by Splashing him through a table, Superplexing him onto chairs and giving him the Final Impact (Double Tucked Arm Piledriver) onto the chairs.

YaroZ were represented with a special Boxing Glove match. YaroZ MCs Brother Mon & Brother Tommy were there to host the match and they brought along Stardom wrestler Chelsea as the special guest round girl. Everyone was disappointed when she appeared wearing a shirt and jeans. However she began to take off a piece of clothing after every round. Everyone got excited but Gota Ihashi was getting his ass kicked by Kengo Mashimo. Ihashi was encouraged by everyone to keep fighting but he narrowly avoided being counted out at the end of Round 2. Ihashi tried to flee but all the wrestlers dragged him back to the ring. In Round 3 Mashimo knocked him out but Yukinori Matsui decided to check his own shoelaces instead of counting to ten. Chelsea was down to her bikini top and hot pants after Round 3 but Ihashi had to be propped up onto the top turnbuckle to continue the match. He had his shorts pulled down and Mashimo threw all of the interfering wrestlers into his backside. He also knocked out Matsui. Daisuke Kiso ran down and counted out Ihashi, awarding the match to Mashimo by knockout. Everyone booed the decision and Matsui attacked Kiso for ruining the plan. But Chelsea cheered everyone up by taking off her hot pants to reveal the rest of her bikini. Everyone happily left the ring except for Ihashi who was still unconcious. All three Drift members later declared Chelsea the MVP of the show.

The annual Lariat Pro Wrestling match has been replaced with a match dedicated to Chops. Everyone in the match formed a circle and took turns chopping each other. Konosuke Takeshita unintentionally threw a Lariat and all of a sudden “Sunrise” played over the speakers. Everyone decided to do Lariats and pose like Stan Hansen. Kazusada Higuchi then hit a Jumping Knee Strike and everyone decided to imitate Jumbo Tsuruta while his “J” theme song played. Antonio Honda pinned Danshoku Dino after he and Takeshita hit a Double Jumping Knee Strike. They and Keisuke Ishii all pushed up their fists and yelled “Ooh!” over and over.

4. Kenny Omega defeated Hiroshi Fukuda with the Croyt’s Wrath (7:55).
5. Kota Ibushi defeated Soma Takao with the Sit Down Last Ride (10:55).
6. Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie defeated KUDO & Yukio Sakaguchi when Ishii pinned Sakaguchi with the High Angle Double Arm DDT (16:42).

If you’re Keisuke Ishii you don’t have to wait for any milestones to celebrate the anniversary of your debut match. Well, there was another reason. Ishii last booked his own show two and a half years ago in the same building and he wanted to show how strong he has become since then. In the main event Ishii teamed with his Drift partner Shigehiro Irie and scored a big victory over KUDO & Yukio Sakaguchi. Ishii himself got the pin on Sakaguchi.

Soma Takao told Kota Ibushi he wanted another singles match after Ibushi beat him.

Hiroshi Fukuda pointed out that Kenny Omega used to wrestle in All Japan, the company he will soon be working for. So he wanted the two of them to show everyone a major battle worthy of the promotion. Fukuda later tried to distract Omega by singing Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing”. Omega made him shut up with the STOP! Enzuigiri and then pinned him with the Croyt’s Wrath.

Due to some sort of contest that took place at the beginning of the show, Kazuki Hirata and MIKAMI both got to make rules for the Meat Tavern Scramble match. Hirata wanted music to play during the match so he could dance to it. MIKAMI wanted to turn the match into a 3 Vs 2 Handicap bout with him, Masa Takanashi & Daisuke Sasaki against Hirata & Sanshiro Takagi. MIKAMI was able to counter Hirata’s Viagra Driver into a School Boy for the win.

*Daisuke Sasaki wins Kazuki Hirata’s Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract.
6. Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie defeated Antonio Honda & Tomomitsu Matsunaga when Ishii pinned Honda with the High Angle Double Arm DDT (10:40).
7. KUDO, Masa Takanashi & Yukio Sakaguchi defeated Danshoku Dino, Makoto Oishi & Akito when KUDO pinned Oishi with the Buzzsaw Kick (13:55).

After scoring the pin in the main event, KUDO called out for any of the Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract holders to come out and challenge him. When none of them came out he then turned his attention to his next confirmed challenger Akito and talked about their upcoming match KO-D Openweight Title match. Akito told him it was going to be a war and he is the future of DDT.

Keisuke Ishii is utterly focused on getting an All Asia Tag Team Title shot. He yelled out “Akiyama!” before he delivered an Exploder Suplex to Tomomitsu Matsunaga in their tag match. He and Shigehiro Irie also have a new double team move called the Go 2 Irie Sleep. It involves Ishii lifting up his opponent in the Go 2 Sleep position while Irie kneels down beside them. Ishii then throws the victim face first into Irie’s head. After the match Ishii showed a video of himself confronting Jun Akiyama and Yoshinobu Kanemaru demanding a title shot. Both of them rejected the challenge and walked off. The video then showed Ishii approaching Akiyama in a public toilet only for Akiyama to yell at him “I’m pissing, go away!” Back in the building Ishii said he will got to Akiyama’s dojo to ask again and he will record the meeting to show at next week’s show in Kawasaki.

With the Monster Army disbanded both Daisuke Sasaki and Antonio Honda decided it was time for a fresh start. Sasaki asked if he could team with the Golden Lovers (but not with Gota Ihashi). Both Kota Ibushi & Kenny Omega said he could but they were then interrupted by Sanshiro Takagi, Toru Owashi & Kazuki Hirata. Takagi challenged them to a Lucha Libre 6-Man Tag match. Sasaki worked well with the Golden Lovers, he even pulled off the PK Mind with Omega to win the match. Amon Tsurumi granted the new trio a KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Title shot for the 12th April Kasukabe Hall show. Omega said he was reluctant to have Sasaki on his team instead of Ihashi but admitted they were a powerful team regardless.

Guanchulo cashed in his Right To Face Your Favourite Wrestler Contract to get a match with Kikutaro before he returns to Chile on 28th May. Kikutaro used his tricks to get Yukinori Matsui involved in the match and they proved to be the deciding factor. Afterwards Kikutaro thanked Guanchulo for choosing him to be his opponent.  Danshoku Dino announced the return of Danshoku Ranch Classic will happen on 20th May and it will be a farewell show for Guanchulo. He will also put his DDT Extreme Title on the line against Guanchulo in Kasukabe Hall on 12th April.

The DDT trainees Shunma Katsumata and Shun Miyatake pleaded with Amon Tsurumi to let them have another exhibition match. They were both unhappy that their bout at “JUDGEMENT 2014” ended in a draw. Miyatake also wants to prove he is ready to debut properly. Tsurumi allowed the match to happen with the stipulation that Miyatake will earn his debut match if he wins. Miyatake wasn’t able to capitalise on his oppotunity and lost to Katsumata in 91 seconds.

HARASHIMA and Yasu Urano will continue to team together under the name UraShima. They are willing to team with other wrestlers but have no plans to recruit a third member.

The final turned out to be a preview for the 13th April main event as Kota Ibushi and Konosuke Takeshita took each other on, with Ibushi winning. Takeshita told Ibushi he beat his right arm but his left arm is stronger.

After losing his Right To Challenge Contract earlier in the night, Kazuki Hirata quickly replaced it with Masa Takanashi’s contract after he pinned him in a 10-Man Tag match. Hirata spent the night wearing a Magnum TOKYO mask in between his matches.

The night ended with a performance of Hulk Hogan Gymnastics by Antonio Honda.

DDT held a press conference at the TEC Offices in Shinjuku to promote HARASHIMA’s next two title defences. First up is the KO-D Openweight Title match versus Shigehiro Irie. The rematch of last year’s Peter Pan main event is something that has been on Irie’s mind for a while. He felt great frustration over losing the title and wants to get rid of that by winning it back. HARASHIMA told Irie that kind of frustration is a good thing because it encourages him to become a stronger human being.

1. DDT Extreme Title – Best 2 Out Of 3 Falls: HARASHIMA (c) Vs Keisuke Ishii
*Fall 1: Feet Only Death Match. Fall 2: Cliff Death Match. Fall 3: To Be Determined by Amon Tsurumi.

The press conference continued with the appearance of Keisuke Ishii, who immediately attacked HARASHIMA. Tempers calmed down and the two were able to continue the conference as if nothing happened. HARASHIMA decided the rules for their upcoming DDT Extreme Title match in Nagoya. After wrestling Antonio Honda in a Blindfold Bra Match where he had to rely on just his hands, HARASHIMA now wanted to see what it was like to wrestle with just his feet. So for the match, both men will have their hands tied together and will have to rely on their legs to wrestle. However, Ishii had an idea of his own. He wanted to have a Cliff Death Match where you have to do a move from the ring apron to the floor in order to win. Ishii is a big fan of apron spots. He even has a Top 3 all time favourite apron spots. His Top 3 apron spots are:

3. Akira Taue giving Kenta Kobashi the Dynamic Bomb from the apron to the floor (21st March, 1995).
2. Kenta Kobashi giving Jun Akiyama a Brainbuster from the apron to the floor (10th July, 2004).
1. Mitsuharu Misawa giving Kenta Kobashi the Tiger Suplex from the stage walk to the floor (1st March, 2003).

Amon Tsurumi decided that both rules will be used in a 2 out of 3 Falls match. Fall 1 will be HARASHIMA’s Feet Only Death Match and Fall 2 will use Ishii’s Cliff Death Match rules. The rules for a possible third fall will be created by Tsurumi the day before the show.

mioshirai-4contracts

Mio Shirai had been spending the last week teasing a very important announcement. Rumours going around the Japanese wrestling scene included Mio announcing her retirement, a marriage engagement or even a pregnancy. Instead the big reveal was Mio had signed a contract and will end to her status as a freelancer. However, it turned out that Mio was signing a contract with not one, not two, not even three but four different wrestling companies. Taking a cue from Kota Ibushi, Shirai signed contracts with Pro Wrestling WAVE, Oz Academy, Ice Ribbon and Union.

After wrestling for seven years, Mio felt it was time to form an afilliation with one of the companies she works for. However she couldn’t decide who to choose. Inspired by Ibushi’s dual contract with DDT and New Japan, Shirai was inspired to do the same and wanted to be with the promotions she enjoyed working for most. Union boss Naomi Susan said she was very surprised to hear about Mio’s idea at first but is happy that she chose Union to be one of the companies. Since the Union roster is mostly filled with men, Susan hopes Mio’s signing will begin an expansion of Joshi in Union. Mayumi Ozaki said she was the only person in Oz Academy who knew about Mio’s plans. Ice Ribbon’s Tsukasa Fujimoto is amazed at the idea and thinks it is a boost that comes just in time for Mio to replace Hikaru Shida, who will be leaving the company in March. WAVE’s Mikiko Futagami (formerly known as GAMI) is expecting more merchandise sales to come from this signing and pointed out she might be actually working for 5 or 6 companies if you include her Osaka Joshi shows.

Mio’s first show with Union under the contract will be at Yokohama on 11th February.

Team Dream Futures appeared in Korakuen Hall for today’s All Japan show and they came for a reason. Keisuke Ishii, Shigehiro Irie and Soma Takao arrived wearing suits and had prepared a written statement. However, Ishii couldn’t hold his tongue for long and gave up trying to be polite. He instead said what he wanted to say all along. Ishii grew up loving All Japan and was even a trainee in their dojo. But he dropped out and ran away. His wrestling career took a different road in DDT where he became friends with Irie and Soma. Together they grew up and Ishii shared with them his dream of winning an All Japan championship. Now they want that dream to come true. Ishii announced he wants to challenge Kotaro Suzuki & Atsushi Aoki for the All Asia Tag Team Titles. Aoki came out and welcomed the challenge but it has not been officially accepted yet. It looks like Ishii and Irie will be the team representing Drift in the potential title match.

The DDT Extreme Title was defended in a 15 minute Ironman match with a difference. Danshoku Dino and Antonio Honda were both joined in the ring by Batten Tamagawa. Pinning or submitting Tamagawa would earn you a point but you would lose two points if Tamagawa defeated you. When the match was announced halfway through the show, Kenny Omega demanded to be included. His claim was denied because the contract was already signed. Kenny intruded on the match in the final minute to give Dino the Danshoku Driver. He then struck Honda with the Extreme Title belt. Kenny’s actions cost Honda the title as Tamagawa pinned him with seconds remaining, reducing his score back to zero. After the match Honda angrily demanded a 3 Way match between himself, Dino and Kenny to determine once and for all who deserves the Extreme Title. The match will take place in Yokohama on 23rd September.

Keisuke Ishii noted that it has been one year since the formation of Team Dream Futures. Since then Shigehiro Irie became the KO-D Champion while Ishii himself believes he has grown as a wrestler. He talked about when he was a young trainee in another organisation but he ran away from them. Now he wants to prove he is strong enough to fight them. The name of that organisation, you ask? All Japan Pro Wrestling! He will appeal to All Japan for a match and has the support of his Drift team mates. Tsurumi Amon pretended he didn’t hear Ishii but then offered to help and do what he can to set up an inter-promotional match in the future.

Kenny Omega and Konosuke Takeshita both defeated Batten Tamagawa in a 3 Way match. Kenny then beat Takeshita in a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors to unofficially determine the winner.

In the second match of his latest series, Michael Nakazawa wanted to wrestle as a fresh faced rookie. Like last time he became impatient and went for the Ultimate Venom Arm only for Sanshiro Takagi to avoid it and beat him with a move named after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. After the match Nakazawa demanded that the third and final match of his trial should be a 60 minute Falls Count Anywhere Ironman match.
