6. Yukio Sakaguchi defeated Masahiro Takanashi with the God’s Right Knee (18:32).

For five years Shuten-dōji were a constant presence on DDT shows from opening matches at touring shows to midcard bouts in Korakuen Hall all the way up to the main event of Sumo Hall. But time has been called on the unit and the three members (plus their allies) are ready to go their separate ways. Their popularity made them win last year’s unit category in the Dramatic General Election so they were owed a show to produce by themselves. This was the perfect chance for Shuten-dōji to say goodbye and get their last calls in.

For the main event Yukio Sakaguchi and Masahiro Takanashi faced off in a singles match. Both had each other scouted late in the match with Takanashi kicking out Sakaguchi’s ankle to escape the Cobra Clutch. Sakaguchi also fought his way out of the Takatonic and caught his friend with a big kick when Takanashi went to roll him into a pin. The two pressed their foreheads together knowing the match was about to end. Sakaguchi then stepped back to the opposite corner and struck Takanashi with the God’s Right Knee for the win.

KUDO joined them in the ring after the match. He reminded everyone he will be taking a break from pro wrestling for a while but when he comes back he will have no choice but to do so with his best friends in front of the best fans. He doesn’t know when his return will happen but he wants everyone to wait for that day. Sakaguchi said he and his “brothers” have seen it all together. He admitted he was scared to do this match with Takanashi today but it ended up being fun.

For KUDO’s last match he got to team with HARASHIMA one more time against The Suicide Boyz of MIKAMI & Tanomusaku Toba. HARASHIMA marked the occasion by wearing a HERO! mask to the ring. KUDO got the victory when he hit Toba with a Buzzsaw Kick and pinned him with the Diving Double Knee Drop. The four posed for a photograph afterwards and KUDO left the ring to large cheers from the fans.

The Brahman Brothers were the winners of the tag gauntlet but they refused to accept the prize of a year’s worth of meals from Ebisuko Tavern. Instead Gorgeous Matsuno, who helped them beat Emi Sakura & Riho at the end of the gauntlet, accepted the prize on their behalf. He also said he will continue to team with them in the future and together they want to win a trios championship again!

Before the gauntlet began, Poison Sawada JULIE transformed several wrestlers backstage into his snake servants so they could do a group dance for his team’s entrance.

The Heisei and Showa generations of the fashion world went to war and in this atmosphere Saki Akai showed a violent side to her never seen before. Akai attacked Rina Yamashita with a bamboo sword then tried to smother Naomi Yoshimura by pressing a plastic bag into his mouth! Kazusada Higuchi was also vile because he grabbed Yamashita’s Pikachu rucksack and pulled its tail off! It was only because of a misfired attack by Higuchi that Yoshimura was able to cradle Akai into a pin to sneak away with a victory. The pin was fatal because Akai was left motionless afterwards. Higuchi was so upset that he sang a song called “The Road” while images representing the Showa era were displayed on the video screen. Miraculously, Akai regained consciousness and everyone joined in with the song. On a more serious note, Akai thanked Shuten-dōji in her backstage interview for becoming her older brothers in the wrestling world. They taught her how to enjoy wrestling inside the ring as well as how to celebrate with drinks afterwards.

There were two unannounced matches added to the show. One was the surprise appearance of Michael Nakazawa from AEW against DJ Nira in a match where anything goes. The stipulation turned out to be a poor idea because whenever it looked liked somebody would win MAO, Nobuhiro Shimatani and even Hisaya Imabayashi would enter the ring and break the pin so the match would continue. They enjoyed the match up between Nakazawa and Nira so much that they wanted them to fight forever! Even when Nakazawa or Nira wanted to give up the others prevented the referees from stopping the match. Mayhem broke out between the wrestlers, Imabayashi, Daisuke Kiso and Yukinori Matsui until all of them had fallen from each others attacks. With no end in sight and everybody out of action the room lights shut off so the show could finally move on.

The other surprise match was former Shuten-dōji member Kota Umeda taking on Hikaru Sato! The match had plenty of stiff kicks but Sato’s submission expertise was the difference maker.

The show began with Shuten-dōji coming out but they didn’t look like themselves. It was actually Chinsuke Nakamura dressed as KUDO, Gota Ihashi dressed as Sakaguchi (including body tattoos) and Shota dressed as Takanashi! The real Shuten-dōji interrupted the parody speech and chased off the imitators.

The closing moments of the show had all of the wrestlers gathering in the ring to share a toast for Shuten-dōji. They then left leaving just KUDO, Sakaguchi and Takanashi alone in the ring for one more toast by themselves. They then placed their cups down on the ring mat along with the bottle of sake and went their separate ways.

2. KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles: Konosuke Takeshita, Akito & Yuki Iino (c) Vs Meiko Satomura, DASH Chisako & Chihiro Hashimoto
3. KO-D Tag Team Titles: Mike Bailey & MAO (c) Vs Daisuke Sasaki & Soma Takao
4. DDT Extreme Title – #ExtremeRuleThoughts: HARASHIMA (c) Vs Muscle Sakai

The DDT fans have been asked to tweet ideas for rules and match stipulations for the DDT Extreme Title bout between HARASHIMA and Muscle Sakai under the hashtag #エクストリームのルール考えました. HARASHIMA will pick his favourite idea on 11th March. Sakai apologises for the current state of the pro wrestling world because a man like him can qualify for a championship match without having any skills or previous achievements. But when he watched HARASHIMA wrestle Shinya Aoki in Sumo Hall he was inspired by what he saw and became determined to challenge the winner no matter what.

Daisuke Sasaki is falling down the well and falling hard since he lost the KO-D Openweight Title. He just lost a match clean to Makoto Oishi for cripes’ sake! He is now so down in the dumps that he believes his wrestling career is coming to an end and he will have no choice but to leave Japan in shame. But before he goes he wants to make some final happy memories to keep him company so he and Soma Takao are challenging The Moonlight Express for the KO-D Tag Team Titles.

The Sendai Girls are coming back for a shot at redemption and also the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles. They failed to beat ALL OUT for the belts last July and the result has been festering inside Meiko Satomura all this time. She wants to take out her frustration on Konosuke Takeshita most of all. DASH Chisako is along for the ride again but this time the third member of the team is Chihiro Hashimoto! She too is holding a grudge with Takeshita because an enemy of Satomura is an enemy of hers too!

Speaking of redemption, finally Gota Ihashi will face Riki Choshu again inside the ring! For over a year Ihashi has worked tirelessly on his fitness and his pro wrestling to make up for an embarrassing performance he had while teaming with the legendary Choshu. All his hard work is leading up to this match.

Aja Kong, Mika Iwata and Rina Shingaki will all be on the show.

DDT “GOODBYE HAKATA STAR LANES”, 31/03/2019
Hakata Star Lanes

1. KO-D Openweight Title: Konosuke Takeshita (c) Vs Jiro Kuroshio

It’s about bloody time they’re doing this match! In January 2018, Jiro Kuroshio defeated Takeshita in a non-title match as part of the first D-Ou Grand Prix tournament. Normal wrestling etiquette suggests that a rematch with the KO-D Title on the line would come out of it. That never happened. Well a year has passed, Takeshita is the champion again and now the match is happening as part of Takeshita’s plan to defend the KO-D Title against a wider variety of wrestlers. But there is something that could happen to make the match even more interesting. Kuroshio is challenging T-Hawk for the WRESTLE-1 Title on 21st March. If Kuroshio wins and becomes champion then the match with Takeshita may become a double title match!

Isami Kodaka and Takumi Tsukamoto will be on the show so BASARA can be a part of DDT’s final event in Hakata Star Lanes.

DDT “DDT IS COMING TO AMERICA”, 04/04/2019
La Boom, Queens, New York

1. Miyu Yamashita Vs Maki Itoh
2. Danshoku Dieno & Antonio Honda Vs Joey Ryan & Royce Isaacs
3. Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title – Battle Royal: Saki Akai (c) Vs Makoto Oishi Vs Kazuki Hirata Vs Yoshihiko Vs Kikutaro Vs Colt Cabana Vs X

6. Weapon Rumble In U.S.A.: MAO Vs Sanshiro Takagi
7. Daisuke Sasaki Vs Konosuke Takeshita

That’s an authentic looking DDT card for sure. The “JUDGEMENT 2019” main event rematch, the Weapon Rumble rematch, Tokyo Joshi Pro representation, a Rumble for the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title and Danshoku Dieno crosses paths with Joey Ryan again. There’s even a RENEGADES reunion with Shigehiro Irie & Jason Kincaid. The North American talent announced so far have all been established in DDT too.

Shinjuku FACE

1. KUDO & HARASHIMA Vs MIKAMI & Tanomusaku Toba
2. Yukio Sakaguchi Vs Masahiro Takanashi

The Shuten-dōji unit will be taking a break from each other after this show. KUDO is taking an indefinite leave of absence from pro wrestling so he can recover from a list of different injuries he’s been living with. He has nerve paralysis in his left eye, a lumbar hernia and suffers from dizziness from time to time. His doctor told him the best treatment is to take rest. KUDO promises he will return to the ring eventually and even apologises if this only turns out to be a short break and he quickly returns.

With KUDO out of action, the rest of Shuten-dōji agreed to call it a day as a group. Yukio Sakaguchi and Masahiro Takanashi will be going their separate ways as wrestlers. They will face each other one on one to celebrate the end of Shuten-dōji for now. KUDO meanwhile will team with his old partner HARASHIMA to take on the reunited Suicide Boyz for this special occasion. This will be MIKAMI’s first match for DDT in over three and a half years.

*V3 for Shuten-dōji.

DDT took a trip through its past for a special show held inside their old venue Shibuya Club ATOM. It was the first time in 13 years that DDT was at the building. Some old friends and faces stopped by and even some of the current generation of DDT wrestlers gave a few references to past members of the company. The main event was a big reunion as HERO!, MIKAMI & Tanomusaku Toba returned to face Shuten-dōji. The decision was made at the start of the show to turn the match into a KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles defence. The champions defeated their retro opponents then were joined by the rest of the roster to celebrate 20 years of DDT to end the show.

The YaroZ Vs DAMNATION 6-Man Tag Match was split into two matches by order of Producer Danshoku Dino. He wanted Antonio Honda to have a singles match so he was put in a match against Tetsuya Endo. The remaining Yaroz and DAMNATION wrestlers would then fight in a normal tag match. DAMNATION came out on top in both matches.

Konosuke Takeshita wanted himself and Akito to team with Poison Sawada JULIE because he was the one who pinned JULIE in his retirement match five years ago. JULIE told both of them that ALL OUT is missing something vital. Entertainment! He gave both of them a bottle labelled “ALL OUT POISON” and encouraged them to drink. They were hesitant to do so until JULIE said is was a state of the art 100% protein drink. Takeshita & Akito went ahead and drank their bottles. JULIE then revealed it is Snake World Protein and they are now under his spell! When it was time for their match, Takeshita & Akito wore JULIE style gear and were now called Konosuke Hebikita & Hebikito! With a hiss and a rattle, JULIE controlled his subjects to defeat NωA. Hebikito gave Shunma Katsumata the Maoi Of Easter then put him in a Figure Four Leg Lock. Hebikita put Makoto Oishi in the Cattle Mutilation to make him submit. The snake potion wore off 10 minutes after the match and JULIE only brought two bottles. Neither Takeshita nor Akito noticed.

When Ken Ohka arrived in the building, so many memories came flooding back. Not all of them good. He flashed back to 2004 when he was wrestling as the musketeer O.K. Revolution and was forced by Sanshiro Takagi to retire. With this fresh in his mind he wanted revenge on Takagi. He tried to convince Danshoku Dino and Muscle Sakai to join him and gang up on Takagi. But when the bell rang to start the match Takagi, Dino and Sakai all attacked Ohka instead. Takagi tried to give Ohka the Sit Down Himawari Bomb but Cherry rolled into the ring and stopped him. Takagi got rid of Cherry and tried his finisher again. This time Sakai stopped him and then to everyone’s surprise Super Sasadango Machine entered the ring. Takagi’s confusion at seeing Sakai and Sasadango standing next to each other distracted him long enough for Ohka to hit him with the Fire Spear for the three count. Ohka told Takagi afterwards that he dreamt of nothing but beating him in Club ATOM. Now that he did it, he forgives him for what happened between them in the past. Ohka cried for his music to play but there was silence. Takagi reminded Ohka who is the real thing around here and screamed for his own song to play. This time it did.

Kazuki Hirata brought down Tetsuya Koda to be a DJ for the Club House Death Match. DJ Koda was instructed to play only one song throughout the match, “TOKYO GO”. Koda kept getting accidentally cut off by Toru Owashi. When he eventually recovered and played the song again, Mike Bailey put on the HIRATA GO! glasses and sang along while Keisuke Ishii pinned Hirata with the Kneel Kick.

5. MIKAMI & Tanomusaku Toba defeated FUMA & Yusuke Kubo when MIKAMI pinned Kubo with the 450 Splash (16:11).
6. Union MAX Title Preview 3rd Match!: Isami Kodaka & Kengo Mashimo defeated Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi & Shota when Kodaka pinned Hiroshi with the Zeyyari (14:44).

While on paper the main event looked one-sided, the pairing of Isami Kodaka & Kengo Mashimo turned out to be very volatile even though they won. Kodaka and Mashimo spent almost as much time fighting each other than they did Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi & Shota. During the entrances Kodaka couldn’t resist kicking Mashimo from behind and get chased around ringside. When Hiroshi & Shota attacked Kodaka, Mashimo sat down in the front row and applauded them. He then refused to tag in when Kodaka needed rest saying “It cannot be helped”. Mashimo did run in to break up pins and submissions but he did so to attack Kodaka at the same time. When Hiroshi put Kodaka in a Cross Armbreaker, Mashimo broke it up with a Diving Knee Drop… to Kodaka’s targeted arm. Kodaka got a slimmer of hope when he ducked a High Kick from Mashimo and Hiroshi was hit instead. Kodaka got rid of Mashimo and was able to pin Hiroshi with the Zeyyari. Mashimo continued to attack Kodaka’s arm after the match until officials pulled him back. Kodaka grabbed a microphone and yelled there were enemies everywhere! When he calmed down he turned his attention to Hiroshi. He said Hiroshi will have no answer for him at Korakuen Hall when they wrestle for the Union MAX Title. Kodaka looked at the BASARA logo on the ring canvas and talked about how he made BASARA from nothing. He always feels like he standing on the edge of a cliff with his back facing the sea. He can never take a step back. He will try harder than ever before when BASARA runs Korakuen Hall on Christmas Day.

The Suicide Boyz got a win over IRON PRIEST ahead of their big 6-Man Tag at Korakuen. MIKAMI asked himself after the match “What is metal?” Well when Jun Kasai joins him & Tanomusaku Toba to form The Suicide Monkeys they’ll show IRON PRIEST just how crazy they are. MIKAMI’s speech provoked FUMA & Yusuke Kubo, sparking a brawl in the ring that had to be seperated. MIKAMI was encouraged by IRON PRIEST’s energised response.

It looks like Abdullah Kobayashi enjoys wrestling in BASARA. Why? Because it draws more women in their crowds than Big Japan. Kudos, Isami. He is getting under Ryuichi Sekine’s skin for using a version of the Boston Crab that looks like Sekine’s Combine submission to win his matches. After submitting Sekine with the move Kobayashi bragged that his Crab Hold won him the BJW Death Match Championship whereas Sekine’s Combine barely wins him matches in Chiba. He then asked for the audience to vote by applause over who has the better move. He won the vote. Abdullah then asked Sekine where was Koji Kanemoto? Sekine checked on Twitter and found out Kanemoto took the day off. He’ll go DM him to make sure he shows up on Christmas Day.

sakaguchi-irie-kneeofgod

After several weeks of setbacks and self-doubt Yukio Sakaguchi finally overcame Shigehiro Irie in the main event of today’s show. For the last month Irie had Sakaguchi’s number everytime they faced off and they wasted no time from the get go. KUDO watched the match from the commentary table knowing that he will be defending the KO-D Openweight Title against either wrestler at Sumo Hall next month. Irie hit the Flying Sausage, Teddy Bear and Beast Bomber but Sakaguchi wouldn’t stay down. Sakaguchi locked in a Sleeper Hold but Irie escaped and hit a Fire Thunder Driver for two. Sakaguchi Headbutted his way out of the Vertical Drop Back Flip and unleashed High Kicks to Irie, finishing him off with the Right Knee Of God. Sakaguchi praised Irie after the match and thanked GM Amon Tsurumi for not listening to his selfish plea of being removed from the Sumo Hall main event. Sakaguchi then called in KUDO and they had a staredown. Masa Takanashi tried to keep both of them calm but KUDO put his hand up to his mouth to shut him up. Sakaguchi told KUDO their match will be a war and they will kill each other for the KO-D Title.

suplex-prefecture-bitch

The Golden☆Storm Riders and Strong BJ had their final skirmish before the big KO-D Tag Team Title match. The 6-Man Tag saw Kota Ibushi & Daisuke Sasaki push Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi into each other with trolleys. Strong BJ fought back with a triple Torture Rack spot in the ring. Ibushi stopped a German Suplex pin from Sekimoto by Double Stomping onto him. Unfortunately for Sasaki he got tossed around some more including a Double German from the tag champs. Sasaki’s flash Hurricanrana was blocked and Sekimoto destroyed him with the Lariat followed by the Deadlift German Suplex. In the post-match interview Ibushi said Sasaki was damaged pretty badly but he’ll recover in time for Sumo Hall. Meanwhile Ibushi will now focus on the G1 Climax that begins tomorrow.

mikami-farewell

After being with DDT for its entire 18 year existence MIKAMI has finished up his contract and is now a freelancer. DDT gave him a special sending off even though he is still going to wrestle for them from time to time. MIKAMI gave a speech thanking everyone for supporting him and continuing to support him. He also gave special mention to Gorgeous Matsuno and said they will team again someday.

fall-to-the-hell

Akito’s reign as DDT Extreme Champion has come to an end after Antonio Honda beat him in a Fall To The Hell Match. The ropes and turnbuckle pads were removed from the ring and the match could be won by ring out as well as pinfall or submission. There was a lot of ground wrestling as both men didn’t want to risk getting knocked out of the ring. Akito busted open Honda with Headbutts but Honda won out in the end when he Dropkicked Akito out of the ring. Honda said blood on his face is like beautiful make-up on a beautiful woman. It was announced afterwards that Honda will have his first defence at Sumo Hall. His opponent will be determined on 1st August. Honda is thrilled to have a big title match at Sumo Hall.

last-minute-powerpoint

Due to the warm summer weather Super Sasadango Machine did not wear his usual long wrestling tights for his match. He also had a migraine so he did not create a PowerPoint presentation in time for the match. Danshoki Dino & Makoto Oishi asked how long it would take to make one and he said 5 minutes. Dino & Oishi told Sasadango to go make it and they will wrestle without him. Sasadango finished it and midway through the match he begun his analysis. He compared his opponents to the Takeda Cavalry from the Warring States period of Japanese history. The Takeda Cavalry was defeated with guns in the Battle Of Nagashino so Sasadango’s team should do something similar, just instead of guns they should use their asses. Sasadango said the anus is their muzzle, the rectum is their barrel and that’s where the bullet exits from (I can’t believe I’m typing this). He then revealed his plan “The Anal Three Stage Shoot”. The plan was for all three to use ass based offence and it worked! The trio won the match and look like they will be challenging for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles at Sumo Hall.

saki-takanashi-go

The 3 Way Tag devolved into dancing and fighting over the Hirata GO! glasses. Takanashi rolled over both Kazuki Hirata & Hiroshi Fukuda for a near fall. Saki Akai then followed up with a Double Jackknife Pin and that was enough to get the win. Hirata & Fukuda argued over who lost after the match.

higuchi-backbreaker

Kazusada Higuchi has a new entrance song. He tapped out Kota Umeda by countering the Tornado Bomb into the Canadian Backbreaker.

urano-ihashi-dark

Even with all the rules in his favour Gota Ihashi could not beat Yasu Urano in the King Of Dark Title match. Urano was being punished for losing the KO-D Title to Ken Ohka and only had to be pinned for 1 second to lose the match. However an Oklahoma Roll saved him from dark match hell. Ihashi then found out his next title match will be at Sumo Hall against Dragon Gate’s own lovable loser “Hollywood” Stalker Ichikawa! Ihashi thinks this is the match that will finally free him from his nightmare.

More matches were booked for “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2015”. Genichiro Tenryu, Sanshiro Takagi & Saki Akai will take on Shuji Ishikawa, Kazusada Higuchi & Meiko Satomura. Also Tetsuya Endo returns from injury and his first match back is against his tag team partner Konosuke Takeshita!

Catching Up On The News I Missed

June 22, 2015

Missed out on a few stories that happened earlier this month. So let’s catch up.

mikami-freelancer

MIKAMI announced he will become a freelancer with his last match as a DDT affiliated wrestler taking place on 19th July. MIKAMI has been with DDT since the very beginning, wrestling on the first DDT show all the way back in 1997. He hopes his new status will help him nurture new young wrestlers in his hometown of Shimane as well as try new things. He pointed out his recent tag team match with Shuji Ishikawa, Daisuke Sekimoto and Yuji Okabayashi as something he would like to do again. MIKAMI will still be wrestling in DDT from time to time and will be at “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2015” in August.

sato-hardhit

The management rights of the Hard Hit sub-brand has been transferred from DDT to Hikaru Sato. Previously Sato has been part of Hard Hit as a producer but the box office was managed by DDT itself. Now Sato is pretty much in full control of everything. DDT is still fully cooperating with Hard Hit and there is no change to the staff and talent they will provide for future shows. Sato describes the change as him finally being able to buy the home he has been renting for years. Hard Hit’s first show as an independent brand will be in Yokohama on 27th June.

ResOCRcH

Over in Vietnam Dick Togo is launching New Vietnam Pro Wrestling, the country’s first pro wrestling organisation. Togo along with Mitsuhiro Yoshida set up a wrestling school in the country last year. Togo wants the school to train people from all over the world. The first set of shows will take place at the end of August. Michael Nakazawa, Daisuke Sasaki, Hoshitango and Yusuke Kubo are the wrestlers announced so far.

Cruiser’s Game presents the TOP OF THE DRAMATIC CRUISER one night tournament to celebrate the history of Jr. Heavyweight wrestling. A grand prize of ¥500,000 will be rewarded to the winner. The eight participants were announced today. They are:

Tatsuhito Takaiwa
(2000 Best of the Super Jr. winner, 38th IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion, 4th IWGP Jr. Tag Team Champion, 2nd & 12th GHC Jr. Heavyweight Champion)

Tatsuhito Takaiwa has wrestled at three previous Cruiser’s Game shows and is a good friend of MIKAMI away from the ring.

El Samurai
(1997 Best of the Super Jr. winner, 19th & 30th IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion, 3rd, 16th & 25th IWGP Jr. Tag Team Champion, 4th J-Crown Champion)

El Samurai is a stalwart of Jr. Heavyweight wrestling. MIKAMI thinks he is a perfect fit for the tournament in both talent and name value.

Katsumi Usuda
(Super J Cup 3rd STAGE participant, 2000 Best of the Super Jr. participant, 3rd & 5th Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Champion)

Katsumi Usuda probably has the most unique style of wrestling in the tournament. MIKAMI added him to spice things up.

Onryo
(Super J Cup 3rd STAGE participant, 39th UWA World Middleweight Champion)

MIKAMI has a long relationship with Onryo and considers him one of his main rivals.

Kikutaro
(Super J Cup 4th STAGE Special Attraction, 2003 Best of the Super Jr. participant)

Kikutaro is a longtime friend of MIKAMI’s, going back to when they were both young wrestlers unknown to the fans.

Marines Mask
(11th Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Champion)

MIKAMI wanted someone with Marines Mask’s charm to be in the tournament, so here he is.

Masa Takanashi
(40th KO-D Openweight Champion, 36th UWA World 6-Man Tag Champion)

MIKAMI has kept an eye on Masa Takanashi ever since his debut. He thinks Masa’s wrestling style is perfect for Cruiser’s Game and expects him to deliver some great performances in the tournament.

MIKAMI
(Super J Cup 4th STAGE Special Attraction, 8th & 14th KO-D Openweight Champion)

Naturally, MIKAMI thinks he is going to win the tournament.
