Even though Atsushi Onita’s team beat Jun Akiyama’s team in an exploding death match over the weekend, he still accepted the challenge to make the next one an All Asia Tag Team Titles match. It will be the first time since 2014 when the titles will be defended on a DDT show. Onita felt he and Yoshitatsu needed to accept the challenge of Akiyama & Kotaro Suzuki in order to increase the championship’s value. Given how much this match relates to All Japan, Onita will have the late Terry Funk on his mind going into it.

2. Pheromones Final Countdown In Korakuen ~ 3 Way Tag Match: Yuki “Sexy” Iino & Danshoku “Dandy” Dieno Vs Kazuki Hirata & Naruki Doi Vs Akito & Antonio Honda
3. Tetsuya Endo, Jun Akiyama, Kazusada Higuchi & Yukio Naya Vs Yuji Hino, Makoto Oishi, HARASHIMA & Yukio Sakaguchi
4. Special Tag Match ~ DDT Vs AJPW: Yuki Ueno & Toy Kojima Vs Atsuki Aoyagi & Dan Tamura
5. Special Single Match: KONOSUKE TAKESHITA Vs MAO
6. DDT Universal Title: Matt Cardona (c) (w/ Steph De Lander) Vs Maki Itoh
7. KO-D Openweight Title: Chris Brookes (c) Vs Saki Akai

There was only one person Chris Brookes had in mind for his next challenger. He wants to defend the KO-D Openweight Title against Akai before her retirement in November. The two of them had a double title singles match involving the DDT Extreme Title and Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title inside an empty Korakuen Hall back in May 2021 because of the covid pandemic. Akai gets to challenge for the KO-D Title for the first time ever but warns she is not doing this for sentimental reasons. She wants to win and become champion so Brookes better take her seriously!

The aftermath of Yuki Ueno choosing The 37KAMIINA over Konosuke Takeshita has calmed things down a little bit. Takeshita has said at the end of the day he is still friends with everyone in the unit even if they aren’t seeing eye to eye right now. That claim will be taken to the test after MAO challenged him to a singles match. Is this MAO testing himself against Takeshita when they are at their strongest or will there be some frustations being taken out on each other?

DDT’s inter-promotional rivalry with All Japan continues with Atsuki Aoyagi & Dan Tamura coming on over to fight The 37KAMIINA. Aoyagi is excited to fight Ueno for the first time and sees MAO as a future opponent too. However when Toy Kojima heard that he got worked up at being overlooked as always. He is just as much an important member of The 37KAMIINA as the others but nobody ever names him as an opponent they want to fight. In Aoyagi’s defence, he admits he doesn’t know who Kojima is. But then he repeated he only wants to fight Ueno and MAO so whatever Kojima does to him in response is kind of deserved.

DDT “SAKI AKAI 10TH ANNIVERSARY & FINAL COUNT DOWN IN KYOTO!!”, 30/09/2023
Kyoto KBS Hall

1. KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles: Yukio Sakaguchi, Saki Akai & Hideki Okatani (c) Vs Chris Brookes, Masahiro Takanashi & Mei Suruga

Brookes offering Akai a KO-D Title match wasn’t something he did for the sake of being charitable. The day after he gave out the challenge he told Eruption he would like a shot at the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles in return. He already has a team put together with Takanashi & Mei Suruga, mixing CDK and ChocoPro together. Eruption want to defend their championships as much as they can before Akai’s retirement and do not mind who their opponents are. The announcement of this match on DDT’s website only mentions the KO-D 6-Man Tag Titles so it looks like the AJPW TV 6-Man Tag Team Titles will not be on the line.

1. Pheromones Final Match: X Vs X
2. KO-D Tag Team Titles: Minoru Fujita & KANON (c) Vs Soma Takao & Shota

ROMANCE DAWN quickly made themselves the first challengers for the new KO-D Tag Team Champions. They approached Minoru Fujita & KANON shortly after the title change to set up the time and the place for their shot.

On this date Akito will decide the fate of Pheromones. Will he go with his head and finally split up the group or will he go with his heart and keep them together for their fanbase? He could probably go with another part of his body to come up with a third option but let’s not go into detail with that sort of fantasy booking.

4. Princess Of Princess Title: Mizuki (c) Vs Miyu Yamashita

The next Princess Tag Team Champions are either going to be Toyo Mates or Free WiFi. Either result will give us a first time champion. I don’t just mean first time tag title reigns for either team but also a first championship for Mahiro Kiryu or Nao Kakuta too. Both Yuki Kamifuku and Hikari Noa have previously held the International Princess Title.

DDT “ULTIMATE PARTY 2023”, 12/11/2023
Tokyo Ryogoku Kokugikan

1. Saki Akai Retirement Match: Saki Akai Vs X
2. Special Single Match: Hiromu Takahashi Vs Kazuki Hirata

It was already announced that Hiromu Takahashi will be at Sumo Hall but the choice of opponent was going to be all up to him. Kazuki Hirata read out a heartfelt letter written for Takahashi asking him to be his opponent at the show. Hirata didn’t expect Takahashi was actually in the room at the time and certainly didn’t expect to roll him up and try to win the Iron Man Title either. Takahashi decided to make Hirata’s dream come true and they will face each other. So far no championship is on the line. Not the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title held by Takahashi nor the DDT Extreme and Iron Man Titles held by Hirata. Things may change as we get closer to the show but who knows what championships either will be hold by the time we get there.

1. Kaya Toribami defeated Shino Suzuki with the Bird Cage (6:38).
2. Raku & Pom Harajuku defeated Wakana Uehara & HIMAWARI when Raku pinned HIMAWARI with the Doctor Yellow (8:02).
3. Shoko Nakajima & Hyper Misao defeated Nao Kakuta & Yoshiko Hasegawa when Nakajima pinned Hasegawa with the Northern Lights Suplex (11:48).
4. 3 Way Match: Hikari Noa defeated Miyu Yamashita and Moka Miyamoto when Noa pinned Miyamoto with the Rotating Leg Hold (10:08).
5. Yuki Aino defeated Yuki Arai with the UBV (12:09).
6. Princess Tag Team Titles 2nd Qualifier ~ 3 Way Tag Match: Yuki Kamifuku & Mahiro Kiryu defeated Rika Tatsumi & Miu Watanabe and Suzume & Arisu Endo when Kiryu pinned Endo with the Spinebuster (12:48).

Toyo Mates have pulled off the upset to qualify for the Princess Tag Team Titles match at “WRESTLE PRINCESS IV”! The big momentum shift in the 3 Way Match was when Yuki Kamifuku hit both members of Daydream with the Famouser together. She then chose to deal with Suzume, leaving it all up to Mahiro Kiryu to finish the job. It almost backfired when Arisu Endo put Kiryu in the Camel Clutch but Kiryu escaped and pinned her with the Spinebuster. That means Toyo Mates moves on to face Free WiFi on 9th October where the winners will become the new champions.

Kamifuku admitted she was feeling burned out after the Summer tour which included her run in the Tokyo Princess Cup. She always has high expectations for Kiryu but was worried she couldn’t pull it off when the match came down to her and Endo. Kiryu swore that when they fight Free WiFi, she will cut off their signal! Daydream were disappointed they didn’t win. Both Rika Tatsumi & Miu Watanabe miss carrying the pink title belts. Tatsumi said she even would have agreed to take part in two title matches at “WRESTLE PRINCESS IV” because she is planning to defend the International Princess Title there too. Suzume was apologetic to Endo for not being able to rescue her in time. Daisy Monkey believe they haven’t reached their full potential as a tag team yet so they still have a way to go until they become the best tag team in the world!

In preparation for the final Reiwa AA Cannon tag match happening later this month, Yuki Arai’s homecoming match was against Yuki Aino. The result was not in Arai’s favour as she was beaten by the more experienced opponent. It is the first time Arai lost a match in Kyoto. She said she had a lot of support from the fans but she was lacking in ability to win. Aino wants a repeat result when she and Moka Miyamoto face Arai & Saki Akai on 18th September.

Nao Kakuta busted her nose during Match #3. It is one of the rare times you will see blood on a Tokyo Joshi Pro show.

There is a regular pre-match routine that Pom Harajuku does with Daisuke Kiso. After Harajuku gets checked in the ring for foreign objects she shouts “Onegaishimasu” for as long as she can while Kiso guides her voice with his hand until he throws it away. Today he threw her voice towards the famous stained glass window of Kyoto KBS Hall causing the lighting behind it to shut off! They repeated the spot to fix the lights back to normal.

Toga was not at the show due to being in poor condition. The tag match she was scheduled to be in was turned into a 3 Way Match with the remaining wrestlers.

5. Rika Tatsumi & Miu Watanabe defeated Miyu Yamashita & Moka Miyamoto when Watanabe pinned Miyamoto after the Daydream Eternity (13:34).
6. Princess Tag Team Titles 1st Qualifier ~ 3 Way Tag Match: Hikari Noa & Nao Kakuta defeated Shoko Nakajima & Hyper Misao and Raku & Pom Harajuku when Kakuta pinned Nakajima with the Shiden Kai (12:28).

One team has booked their place on the “WRESTLE PRINCESS IV” card by qualifying for the vacant Princess Tag Team Titles match. Free WiFi defeated two other teams in a 3 Way match where it was first fall to a finish. No tags were needed in the match so it became a free for all of double team moves and mixed combinations. RakuPom used their new move La La La Pop~♪ ♪ on Nao Kakuta but they were taken out by Kyoraku Kyomei. Things were looking good for Shoko Nakajima & Hyper Misao until Kakuta caught Nakajima’s 619 and carried her into the Shiden Kai while Hikari Noa blocked Misao from breaking it up. The win for Free WiFi means they are now one step away from winning the vacant titles.

Kakuta admitted she pushed herself hard because if her team lost today who knows when they would get another chance? Noa pointed out that because the roster size in Tokyo Joshi Pro is increasing rapidly there are actually fewer opportunities to fight for championships. She knows she can rely on Kakuta to take advantage of the opportunities when they do come by. Nakajima echoed those opinions, saying this could have been her last chance to become tag champions with Misao which is something she wanted to achieve for a long time. Misao told her it wasn’t their last chance and they’ll continue to move forward together their own way. Raku said when she was travelling to Hiroshima for the show she had a dream where she won this match. When she woke up she felt satisfied and already thought it was time to go home. Meanwhile Pom Harajuku was just being loud because she was upset she didn’t win.

6. DDT Extreme Title & Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title: Kazuki Hirata (E/c) Vs Naruki Doi (I/c)
7. KO-D Openweight Title: Chris Brookes (c) Vs Shigehiro Irie

This past weekend Naruki Doi won his third DDT championship, becoming the new Iron Man Heavymwetalweight Champion. He feels like he has immersed himself into DDT and wants to ingrain himself even more by adding the DDT Extreme Title to his collection. Kazuki Hirata’s current title reign best represents DDT in Doi’s eyes so a big stakes double title match is now on the cards. However Doi is at risk of losing the Iron Man Title anywhere, even outside of DDT because he has a bunch of bookings in other companies coming up. He is getting his Extreme Title match with Hirata no matter what but if he was to lose the Iron Man Title before that it would sour their match a little bit.

The new KO-D Tag Champions Hino & Oishi aren’t done with DAMNATION T.A just yet. KANON is calling on Minoru Fujita to help mentor him towards winning the belts off of them.

2. Special Single Match: Nyla Rose Vs Maki Itoh
3. Princess Tag Team Titles: X & X Vs X & X
4. Princess Of Princess Title: Mizuki (c) Vs Miyu Yamashita

Yamashita defeated Mizuki in the 1st Round of this year’s Tokyo Princess Cup. She decided she would not challenge her for the Princess Of Princess Title unless she went on to win the tournament. Yamashita did so, finally ending the one accomplishment in TJPW that’s been her Achilles Heel for her entire career.

The next Princess Tag Team Champions will be crowned on this show. They have been vacant since June because of Yuka Sakazaki’s injury. That it’s taken them this long to decide new champions makes me think the plan all along was for The Magical Sugar Rabbits to keep the belts all the way through to Sakazaki’s graduation.

Nyla Rose returns for a first time singles match against Maki Itoh. They’ve had a few AEW tag matches both against and teaming with each other.

The main foursome of NEO Biishiki-gun will appear for an 8-Person Tag Match.

5. Yuki Arai & Mahiro Kiryu defeated Wakana Uehara & Toga when Arai submitted Uehara with the Sasori-Katame (10:18).
6. Mizuki, Shoko Nakajima & Suzume defeated Rika Tatsumi, Miu Watanabe & Yuki Aino when Mizuki pinned Watanabe with the Cutie Special (15:31).
7. Tokyo Princess Cup – Final: Miyu Yamashita defeated Yuki Kamifuku with the Skull Kick (15:57).

The tenth edition of the Tokyo Princess Cup has brought closure to one of the longest running curses in Tokyo Joshi Pro. That’s right, Miyu Yamashita has finally won the tournament! Her victory in the final ended Yuki Kamifuku’s strong run but it wasn’t without a fight. Kamifuku used the Reverse Famouser she debuted yesterday, a Superplex, the Manjigatame and also some good old Eye Pokes to her advantage. But Yamashita fought back with German Suplexes, the Return Crash and the Skull Kick. That last move would have won the match if it wasn’t for Kamifuku’s long leg reaching over to cause a rope break. Kamifuku had one last gasp that led to her missing the Famouser. Yamashita quickly capitalised with the Crash Rabbit Heat to the back followed by another from the front to win the final.

Yamashita told the fans it’s taken 10 years but she finally won the Princess Cup. However she still has big ambitions for the future and is moving straight on to the next one. She called down Mizuki to the ring and told her she wanted to win this tournament so she could challenge her for the Princess Of Princess Title with pride. Mizuki admitted she is frustrated she lost to Yamashita in the 1st Round. Her pro wrestling life is the exact opposite of Yamashita but she respects her a lot. Mizuki accepted the challenge and the title match will take place at “WRESTLE PRINCESS IV” on 9th October. Yamashita requested a handshake afterward but Mizuki declined with a shake of her head.

Backstage Yamashita repeated her points. She has thought about winning the Princess Cup for the last ten years but the championship Mizuki has is more important to her. She also praised Kamifuku and is really glad to have fought her in the final. When a reporter pointed out that Yamashita has won both of TJPW’s annual tournaments this year, she said she can now add “Tournament Wins” to her special skills column. Kamifuku revealed that right after the match she received a LINE message from Aja Kong that said “You did your best.” Kamifuku still does not like competing in tournaments but understands she has to enter them and do her best.

Mizuki kept her skills sharp in the semi-main event by scoring the pinfall on Miu Watanabe in a 6-Woman Tag Match. Suzume took out Yuki Aino with the top rope Facebuster, Rika Tatsumi got rid of her with the Twist Of Fate and Shoko Nakajima bowled out who was left with a Topé Con Hilo. Back in the ring Mizuki unleashed the Whirling Candy on Watanabe and pinned her with the Cutie Special.

Yesterday’s fortunes were switched around for a few people in Match #5. Toga was coming in fresh off of winning a match by herself for the first time and Wakana Uehara was on the winning team with her. Yuki Arai on the other hand had to bounce back from her semi-final loss while Mahiro Kiryu is dealing with the hand she’s dealt with like always. Toga used her new Rock Bottom finisher again on Kiryu but the match came down to Uehara against Arai. A Big Boot from Arai led to her submitting Uehara with the Scorpion Deathlock.

The first time meeting between Hyper Misao and Juria Nagano saw the two facing off for a Karate duel. Misao then immediately threw away that idea and strangled Nagano with her cloak instead. Nagano had her Karate Tag partner Moka Miyamoto to count on though and together they kicked away Misao. Kaya Toribami stepped in and got a nearfall on Nagano with the 2nd Rope Twisting Senton. But Nagano hit her with a flurry of strikes, finishing her off with the Whirlwind Kick for the three count.

There was some confusion during the morning over Pom Harajuku. A couple of hours before the show began, TJPW announced she would be absent for various reasons and the card would be changed in response to that. The new card had Aino replacing Harajuku so Aino would have ended up wrestling twice. However Sayuri Namba then announced during the show opening introductions that Harajuku was here and will be wrestling her match after all, just a little later than scheduled. In the match itself Harajuku had a handle on Shino Suzuki while Raku beat Haru Kazashiro with the Doctor Yellow.

The last of the summer vibes were cherished in the 3 Way Match. Nao Kakuta stood on HIMAWARI like a surfboard, tied Haruna Neko’s tail to the rope to immobilise her and then pinned HIMAWARI with the Shiden Kai.

Hikari Noa won her match by using the Blue Racer submission hold for the first time in a while. She locked the move in on Runa Okubo and pulled her away from the ropes. Stuck in the center of the ring with nowhere to go, Okubo gave up.

TJPW is heading back to America this December for a co-promoted show with Presitge Wrestling! The two promotions are putting together “COMBAT PRINCESS USA” at the Globe Theater in Los Angeles on 14th December. The names announced so far are Mizuki, Rika Tatsumi, Miyu Yamashita, Maki Itoh, Taya Valkyrie, Masha Slamovich, Killer Kelly and Sandra Moone.

Maki Itoh Vs Nyla Rose was announced for “WRESTLE PRINCESS IV” on 9th October.

The vacant Princess Tag Team Titles will crown new champions at “WRESTLE PRINCESS IV”. Details will be announced at a later date.

2. Pom Harajuku defeated HIMAWARI with the Pom de Justice (8:05).
3. Yuki Kamifuku, Kaya Toribami & Wakana Uehara defeated Yuki Arai, Raku & Shino Suzuki when Kamifuku pinned Suzuki with the Famouser (9:51).
4. Hyper Misao defeated Mahiro Kiryu with the Hypami Returns (8:53).
5. Shoko Nakajima & Moka Miyamoto defeated Suzume & Haru Kazashiro when Miyamoto submitted Kazashiro with the Rashomon (13:35).
6. 1 Vs 2 Handicap Match: Rika Tatsumi & Miu Watanabe defeated Mizuki when Tatsumi pinned Mizuki with the Missile Hip (17:08).
7. International Princess Title Next Challenger Match: Yuki Aino defeated Arisu Endo with the Venus DDT (14:27).

A sudden change in plans shifted the match between Yuki Aino and Arisu Endo into the main event of today’s show. With a shot at the International Princess Title on the line, both women went out there to fight their best. Endo defended herself from the Side Suplex and Venus DDT while going high risk by doing the Tsuruga Castle from the ring apron to the floor as well as an Avalanche Waterwheel Drop back into the ring. Aino was put in the Camel Clutch, reached the ropes but was dragged back away from them. She was able to reach a rope break for a second time to finally free herself. Aino then used her sister’s Bulldog Headlock on Endo to set up the Venus DDT finish.

After the match Aino praised Endo for a strong performance and said she was glad to have fought her today. The two hugged before Endo left the ring to be replaced with Rika Tatsumi. The champion told Aino they will have their title match at Ota Ward Gymnasium for “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’23” on 8th July. She knows the world will be watching so they are going to have a match so exciting it will be heard around the globe! Aino promised to do her part and blow away all her doubts and fears.

The reason for the change in match order was because of Yuka Sakazaki’s neck injury. She appeared in the ring with Mizuki at the beginning of the show to return the vacated Princess Tag Team Titles to Tetsuya Koda. Sakazaki explained to the fans how upset she is over the news and it makes her feel bad for Mizuki too. Her doctor said her neck is in bad shape but she personally thinks she is able to wrestle today. While she tried to protest the decision, Mizuki calmed her down and reminded her it will go against her doctor’s orders. The worst thing that could happen is if Sakazaki wrestles today and injures herself even more. Mizuki convinced Sakazaki to vacate the titles and believe in her as she fights Daydream on her own. The reason why Mizuki refused to get a replacement partner is because she wanted to carry Sakazaki’s feelings into the match by herself.

Sakazaki returned later in the show to be in Mizuki’s corner for the Handicap Match against Daydream. The match was indeed 2 Vs 1 but who was at a disadvantage changed around thanks to a mischievous plan from Mizuki. It’s well known at this point that Tatsumi has a crush on Mizuki. So Mizuki did her best to use Daydream’s teamwork against them, tricking Tatsumi into doing double team moves with her instead of Miu Watanabe! Tatsumi was briefly blinded with love to fall for the plan until she snapped out of it. Mizuki was now at the disadvantage so she pulled out the Whirling Candy to get rid of Watanabe. But Tatsumi stopped her momentum with the Hip Attack, Twist Of Fate and then the Missile Hip to win. Everyone from both Daydream and The Magical Sugar Rabbits bowed to each other after the match. Backstage both teams promised to have their match agains someday no matter where it takes place.

Haru Kazashiro’s progress as a rookie has seen her quickly moving up the card into positions against more established opponents. She got to team with Suzume in a losing effort against Shoko Nakajima & Moka Miyamoto. Suzume kept Nakajima at bay with the Ring A Bell, giving Kazashiro an opening to score a nearfall on Miyamoto with a Low Cross Body. Miyamoto returned fire and made Kazashiro submit to the Rashomon.

A singles match between Hyper Misao and Mahiro Kiryu was put together to capitalise on their story from last month’s “HYPE!” show. Misao came out dressed in her producer outfit armed with a megaphone. Kiryu used her Apology Knee Drop to apologise for standing out too much during Misao’s show. After Misao won the match she shook hands with Kiryu. But just when it looked like they still get along, Misao got a cheap shot in and kicked Kiryu before happily walking away.

Today was eventful for Yuki Arai. She had her return match coming back from a minor foot injury. She showed her foot was 100% by giving Yuki Kamifuku a Big Boot during the match. She also joined in with Raku’s Oyasumi Express. Kamifuku returned the favour by giving Arai a Big Boot of her own. Kaya Toribami & Wakana Uehara showed off their speed with Uehara in particular doing a Space Rolling Elbow to Shino Suzuki in the corner. Shino Suzuki locked in a Sleeper Hold on Kamifuku but it didn’t work out in the end. Kamifuku landed a Dropkick to Suzuki and then pinned her with the Famouser.

After the match it was announced that Arai & Uehara will team up at “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’23” to take on NEO Biishiki-gun! Arai said backstage that she has never met anyone from that group before but always wanted to fight them. She was asked by a reporter if she thinks Sakisama is anything like her tag team partner Saki Akai? Arai noticed the two do look alike so if there are other similarities between them it might give her a bit of an advantage due to what she learned from teaming with Akai.

Pom Harajuku braided her hair to try and match HIMAWARI’s look for their match together. Her attempts to copy HIMAWARI by doing Hair Whips only made her opponent mad and Hair Whip her back. Harajuku then challenged HIMAWARI to race her around the outside of the ring in opposite directions. They did so with HIMAWARI dropping down for Harajuku to hop over her. It went on until Harajuku tripped and fell face first in front of her. Harajuku got her act together back in the ring and won with the Pom de Justice.

The opening match saw Free WiFi defeat the rookie team of Toga & Runa Okubo. Toga got a big hit on Hikari Noa with her Elbow Strike whie Okubo showed her strength by Body Slamming Nao Kakuta. But Kakuta gave Toga a Neck Snap over the top rope and Noa followed up with a Running Neckbreaker Drop for the three count.

Before the matches began, The Up Up Girls performed their new single “Babyface” and then introduced the audience to their newest member Uta. The 16 year old high school student told the fans her favourite wrestler and idol is Miu Watanabe. Her hobbies include watching pro wrestling, drinking all-you-can-drink juice and tea, and watching cute idols on TikTok. Her special skills are reviewing ice cream, playing badminton and table tennis and also talking at a machine gun like speed.

Juria Nagano announced her return match will be at “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’23”. She’s been out of action since January due to a broken finger on her left hand. She told the fans she will do her best to show everyone she has powered up for her return.

A collaboration between NEW ERA and Tokyo Joshi Pro is in the works. TJPW logo baseball caps will be sold soon starting at “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’23”

The 16 wrestlers entering the Tokyo Princess Cup are Mizuki, Rika Tatsumi, Miyu Yamashita, Shoko Nakajima, Miu Watanabe, Hyper Misao, Yuki Aino, Yuki Kamifuku, Nao Kakuta, Hikari Noa, Raku, Suzume, Arisu Endo, Yuki Arai, Moka Miyamoto and Mahiro Kiryu. The brackets will be decided on a later date.

7. Princess Tag Team Titles: Yuka Sakazaki & Mizuki (c) Vs Rika Tatsumi & Miu Watanabe

Today Tokyo Joshi Pro announced that Yuka Sakazaki is pulling out of her upcoming match schedule due to a neck injury. Results of a recent medical checkup had doctors recommend Sakazaki to take immediate rest and receive treatment instead of wrestling for the time being. According to TJPW, Sakazaki was determined to wrestle on Sunday’s show because it was the first match in her graduation tour. However she was warned that her neck injury could lead to a serious accident in the ring. It is the duty of both wrestlers and wrestling companies to prevent such accidents from happening. After hearing that explanation, Sakazaki agreed to miss the show and take time off for recovery.

There is currently no timetable for Sakazaki’s return which means some big plans for TJPW need to be changed. The Magical Sugar Rabbits have vacated the Princess Tag Team Titles because Sakazaki is missing the scheduled title defence on Sunday. A replacement match will be announced as soon as it is finalized. No word yet on if the new match will immediately crown the next Princess Tag Champions or will set up a match for the vacant titles down the road. But given who is available it should be something involving Mizuki and Daydream. Also Sakazaki’s match with Nyla Rose at “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’23” on 8th July is now cancelled. Rose will still be wrestling on the show in a singles match but her new opponent will be announced on a later date.

Yuka Sakazaki Graduating From TJPW This December

May 8, 2023

A press conference was held by Tokyo Joshi Pro today with both Tetsuya Koda and Yuka Sakazaki in attendance. The big new coming out of the event is Sakazaki’s announcement that she will be graduating from TJPW on 1st December at the promotion’s 10th Anniversary show in Korakuen Hall. She will continue her pro wrestling career but it will happen overseas because she is also going to relocate to America in 2024. Sakazaki said it was a difficult decision to make but wanted it to happen during a big milestone which is why she picked the 10th Anniversary as her final match in the company. Koda said Sakazaki has several overseas tours scheduled for the rest of this year starting with an expedition to USA from 13th May to 4th June. These tours are being done to help Sakazaki prepare for her move to America next year so she will have limited appearances with TJPW for the rest of 2023.

Therefore Koda announced that The Magical Sugar Rabbits will defend the Princess Tag Team Titles against Daydream on the 11th June Korakuen show. This is going to be Sakazaki’s next match in Japan due to her busy schedule. Even though Sakazaki is leaving TJPW, she is still determined to hold onto the Tag Titles with Mizuki and continue their latest championship reign. When asked what caused Sakazaki to make this decision, she said she knew the day would come when she would have to leave the company and the last 10 years have gone in a blink of an eye. TJPW is special to her but she feels she could not stay there forever for that very reason. She loves pro wrestling and wants to continue doing it as she enters the next stage in her life. But if she was to continue wrestling in Japan for other promotions it would interfere with TJPW which is why she is choosing to relocate and wrestle in America instead. She is undecided if she will ever wrestle in Japan again but if she does it will 100% not be for another joshi promotion.

Sakazaki said there are still things she wants to do in TJPW before she finishes up there. She said there is one particular story she wants to finish up but did not explain what it is. Even though there are 7 months left in 2023, her busy schedule means it is more like three and a half months for her. When she consulted with Mizuki about her decision, Mizuki’s response was she didn’t want Sakazaki to leave her. But Mizuki supports the decision and the two intend to stay as Princess Tag Champions for as long as they can so they can bring the belts to Disneyland together. Sakazaki would also like to invite an AEW wrestler over for a match at “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’23” in Ota Ward Gymnasium on 8th July. She thinks it would be a good opportunity for Japanese AEW fans to see one of the company’s wrestlers up close and in person.

A day like this was always going to come eventually. Yuka Sakazaki is now the biggest name yet in TJPW’s history to leave the company after being there for almost the entirety of its lifetime. Really it’s just Miyu Yamashita and Shoko Nakajima left that are ahead of her seniority wise with Rika Tatsumi right behind her. What amazes me and keeps this story a positive one is Sakazaki’s decision to continue wrestling and to go do it in America. As TJPW approaches the 10th Anniversary of their launch event it is astounding to look back and see how it has grown. There’s a list a mile long of all the different DDT offshoots and spinoffs that only lasted a few years at best (heck DDTeeeen!! wasn’t even that long ago). When TJPW first started in 2012 I didn’t expect it to be any different. NOZOMI came and went. They replaced her with a bunch of young trainees and I thought they would only last a few years then vanish like so many wrestlers of any gender have done over the years. Instead we got Yamashita, Nakajima, Sakazaki & Tatsumi successfully holding up the fort as the company matured and the roster grew. Now TJPW has carved out a pretty nice spot for themselves in a wrestling landscape. It’s good enough to be the No. 2 women’s promotion in Japan and they’ve produced several wrestlers who are now able to make a name for themselves in America. Sakazaki will likely call AEW her home next year, Yamashita is in big demand on the US indies and Maki Itoh will have probably taken over GCW by the time she is done with them. All that’s missing now is for WWE to poach Hyper Misao so she can keep watch over the NXT parking lot.

So yeah, good news, feeling a bit emotional. I’m not looking forward to typing this all again whenever Yamashita, Nakajima and/or Tatsumi calls it a day.
