1. Daisuke Sasaki defeated Kazuma Sumi with the Crossface Lock (7:27).
2. No Tag Rules: Yuki “Sexy” Iino & Danshoku “Dandy” Dieno defeated Toru Owashi & Antonio Honda when Iino pinned Honda with the Ketsugoye (9:35).
3. Asakusa Specialty Special Tag Match: Yoshihiko & Kazuki Hirata defeated Yuki Ueno & MAO when Yoshihiko pinned MAO with the Reincarnation (10:21).
4. Sanshiro Takagi & Akito defeated Tetsuya Endo & Yuya Koroku when Sanshiro Takagi pinned Koroku with the Stone Cold Stunner (8:42).
5. Kazusada Higuchi, Ryota Nakatsu & Yuki Ishida defeated Jun Akiyama, Yusuke Okada & Rukiya when Ishida pinned Rukiya with the Flame Palm (13:06).
6. Special Single Match: MJ Paul defeated Toy Kojima by Disqualification when Kojima attacked Paul with a Chair (10:03).
7. Yuji Hino, HARASHIMA & Makoto Oishi defeated Yukio Sakaguchi, Masahiro Takanashi & Hideki Okatani when Hino submitted Takanashi with the King Kong Sleeper (13:24).

After several shows of complaints, Yuji Hino suddenly found himself changing his mind about Chris Brookes thanks to Antonio Honda. When the main event was finished, Honda entered the ring and gave Hino a heartfelt speech explaining why Brookes deserves to fight him for the KO-D Openweight Title on 23rd July. By the time he was done, Hino was moved to tears.

Yuki Ishida blamed his recent illness that kept him from wrestling over not having enough Dosukoi spirit. So today he made sure to wrestle with extra Dosukoi within him.

A gullible Yuya Koroku was tricked by Sanshiro Takagi & Akito when they offered him a bribe to team with them instead of Tetsuya Endo. He took their word only for Takagi to give him a Stunner, pin him and reveal there is no bribe. After the match Endo was so mad by Koroku’s betrayal he kicked him out of BURNING! However he decided he would change his mind if Koroku did a funny dance in the ring for the fans. Koroku did what he was told and it cheered Endo up, saving Koroku’s spot in the group.

Toy Kojima has snapped! For several shows in a row DAMNATION T.A have been cheating and attacking him in violent ways. Today was Kojima’s breaking point after Daisuke Sasaki interfered in his match against MJ Paul. The cheating caused Yuki Ueno to go after him to even the odds but Sasaki gave him a Low Blow. Kojima saw that and lost his temper, attacking both DAMNATION T.A members with a chair. The referee tried to settle him down but Ueno threw him out of the way, getting disqualified in the process. Ueno was then able to calm him down after the match. Kojima said all DAMNATION T.A does is cheat so he wants to take them down at Korakuen Hall on 25th June. Ueno agreed and told Kojima he is now unleashed. He approves of him fighting back this way because it comes from the heart. They have to give it everything they’ve got otherwise they won’t win. Ueno promised not to let DAMNATION T.A become the next KO-D Tag Team Champions. However Sasaki warned that if this is Kojima’s true intention then he will kill him 200 million times more!

There is a twist in the story between Kazuki Hirata and MAO because a new fighter has entered the fray. Their tag match today had a reward on the line. If Hirata or MAO won then they would get to choose the stipulation for their DDT Extreme Title match on 25th June. Instead Yoshihiko scored the pinfall on both of them at the same time (even though Hirata was its tag partner). Hirata and MAO began arguing with Hisaya Imabayashi over how to determine who picks the stipulation when Yoshihiko offered a suggestion to the GM. It wants to be added to the match and make it a 3 Way! Hirata liked the idea because it is more exciting than a singles match. MAO wanted to alter it slightly and make it a Survival 3 Way because it would be a waste of a match when Hirata loses immediately. Everyone agreed. Not only that but Imabayashi surprised everyone by telling them it will now be the main event! So MAO gets to fight Yoshihiko again and Hirata gets to headline a Korakuen show even if he only lasts a few seconds. Everybody wins!

Ueno unexpectedly threw out a “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2023” challenge during his backstage interview by telling reporters he wants another singles match against Konosuke Takeshita! They’ve already had two singles matches this year, once for a 10 minute exhibition and another for DDT’s show in Los Angeles. He heard Takeshita recently changed his behavior over in AEW. Regardless of what side between good and bad Takeshita now stands in, he is still a member of The 37KAMIINA and Ueno wants to wrestle him in Sumo Hall on 23rd July.

A mini-series between Yumehito Imanari and Shuichiro Katsumura takes up a chunk of the show. There will be a singles match and an Elimination Tag match featuring wrestlers from their teams.

A message was sent by Sayaka Unagi to Ganbare☆Pro today saying that Riara needs an appraisal from somebody else in order to get assessed by herself. Unagi will be sending a “minion” to face Riara in a match to see what the rookie is capable of.

Kaho Matsushita comes from Ice Ribbon.

2. Special Single Match: Masahiro Takanashi Vs Asuka
3. Special Single Match: Minoru Fujita Vs Rina Yamashita

Brookes is injured while Parker is taking time off to go back to the UK. Instead the regular crew are joined by Minoru Fujita and Asuka for the first time along with Rina Yamashita making her second appearance for the group.

MAO & Chie Koishikawa think their tag team is better suited for these shows than DDT. After all where else can they fight against Takayuki Ueki & Mecha Mummy together?

The return of NEO Biishiki-gun will have first time opponents Yuki Arai & Wakana Uehara waiting for them. Arai thinks Sakisama kind of looks like Saki Akai. If the two of them are at similar skill level too then Arai is more prepared for the match than she thought.

Nyla Rose will be getting a new opponent now that Yuka Sakazaki has been pulled off the show. It will be announced as soon as her new opponent is decided.

It will be almost six months since Juria Nagano’s last match by the time she comes back. A broken finger kept her away from wrestling matches all year.

Tokyo Princess Cup 2023

June 12, 2023

The Tokyo Princess Cup has reached its tenth year! The annual single elimination tournament been Tokyo Joshi Pro’s big summer event for a decade and this year’s playoff has shrunk a down little bit to 16 contestants. The opening round matches are taking place in Ryogoku KFC Hall while Round 2 onwards all take place in Korakuen Hall. The participants are:

Mizuki (7th Appearance, 2019 & 2020 Winner)
Rika Tatsumi (8th Appearance)
Miyu Yamashita (10th Appearance)
Shoko Nakajima (10th Appearance, 2015 Winner)
Miu Watanabe (5th Appearance)
Hyper Misao (7th Appearance)
Yuki Aino (5th Appearance)
Yuki Kamifuku (5th Appearance)
Nao Kakuta (3rd Appearance)
Hikari Noa (6th Appearance)
Raku (5th Appearance)
Suzume (4th Appearance)
Arisu Endo (3rd Appearance)
Moka Miyamoto (3rd Appearance)
Yuki Arai (3rd Appearance)
Mahiro Kiryu (4th Appearance)

There are no new debutants this year and two big names absent. Yuka Sakazaki is out of action with a neck injury and given her graduation plans I suspect she was not going to enter anyway. Maki Itoh has a booking in America on the same day as the final. That means the last two winners are out of the picture and only two other previous winners (Mizuki and Shoko Nakajima) are competing. Yuki Arai is entering the tournament but she is only available to wrestle her Round 1 match on 22nd July. The full match schedule will be sorted out once the bracket is randomly drawn. The bracket also ends at the semi final where those matches between the final four will be sorted by a lottery.

216 Fans – No Vacancy

1. 2 Vs 3 Handicap Match: Yuki “Sexy” Iino & Danshoku “Dandy” Dieno defeated Toru Owashi, Kazuki Hirata & Rukiya when Iino pinned Hirata with a School Boy (0:14).
1a. Rematch – No Tag Rules: Yuki “Sexy” Iino & Danshoku “Dandy” Dieno defeated Toru Owashi, Kazuki Hirata & Rukiya when Iino submitted Rukiya after the Dedicated To You 2 Months After Your Debut (0:14).
2. Special Tag Match: Akito & Char defeated Yusuke Okada & Tsuruhimeka when Akito pinned Okada after a Missile Dropkick from Char (14:36).
3. Daisuke Sasaki & MJ Paul defeated Kazusada Higuchi & Takeshi Masada when Sasaki submitted Masada with a Reverse Figure 4 Leg Lock (12:47).
4. Matsuyama Specialty Special 6-Man Tag Match: Sanshiro Takagi (w/ Cutie Elly The Ehime), Imabari Taoru Mascaras & Tsutenkakka defeated HARASHIMA, Saki Akai & Kazuma Sumi when Takagi pinned Sumi with the Lift-Up Spicolli Driver (14:36).
5. Ω Vs Eruption!: Yuji Hino & Makoto Oishi defeated Yukio Sakaguchi & Hideki Okatani when Hino submitted Okatani with the King Kong Sleeper (12:55).
6. BURNING Vs The 37KAMIINA!: MAO, Yuki Ueno & Toy Kojima defeated Tetsuya Endo, Jun Akiyama & Yuya Koroku when Kojima pinned Koroku with the Kojima In Wonderland ~KOJIMA Wonderland~ (20:22).

Weeks of taking beatings from more experienced opponents is starting to pay off for Toy Kojima. Eager to show his worth, he went toe to toe against Jun Akiyama again, even agreeing to fight him outside the ring. MAO & Yuki Ueno did what they could to keep Akiyama & Tetsuya Endo at bay so Kojima could fight Yuya Koroku. The two of them went back and forth until Kojima did his Wrist-Clutch version of the Kojima In Wonderland for the victory. After the match The 37KAMIINA all promoted the 25th June Korakuen Hall show where they intend to win the KO-D Tag Team Titles and DDT Extreme Title together.

For the second show in a row Yuji Hino complained about Chris Brookes disclocating his shoulder during the build up to their KO-D Openweight Title match. He repeated yesterday’s realization that Brookes gets to rest at home while he has to wrestle these matches and hurt his body week after week. Hino asked if Brookes even qualifies for a title shot at this point? It makes him so mad that he promised to turn the title bout on 23rd July into Brookes’ retirement match!

There was bad news for Sanshiro Takagi today when his dodgy shoulder started acting up again. The good news is one of his tag partners Tsutenkakka is a qualified osteopath so he was able to get it fixed in time for the match! The other wrestlers from Ehime Pro played their part too. Imabari Taoru Mascaras used his lucha while Cutie Elly The Ehime used her feminine wiles to distract the opposition. Takagi praised the work Ehime Pro has been doing to attract a loyal and passionate fanbase in Matsuyama. He hopes that Ehime Pro will support DDT again when DDT comes back on a regular basis.

Ehime Pro was also featured on the second match with local joshi wrestlers Char and Tsuruhimeka taking part. Char even played into the finish by hitting Yusuke Okada with a Missile Dropkick, knocking him into Akito’s Sunset Flip style pin for the victory. Akito was impressed by the efforts Char and Tsuruhimeka gave out there and said it lit a fire under him. Okada said he would love to see DDT and Ehime Pro work together for a show in Tokyo some day.

Rukiya was so excited to be wrestling in Ehime for the first time but it was spoiled when Kazuki Hirata was immediately pinned after he dropped his Hirata GO! Glasses. He convinced everybody to restart the match and he would tell Hirata when to put his glasses on. When he did, Hirata started to dance and ignored Pheromones beating Rukiya into submission.

2. Pom Harajuku defeated HIMAWARI with the Pom de Justice (8:05).
3. Yuki Kamifuku, Kaya Toribami & Wakana Uehara defeated Yuki Arai, Raku & Shino Suzuki when Kamifuku pinned Suzuki with the Famouser (9:51).
4. Hyper Misao defeated Mahiro Kiryu with the Hypami Returns (8:53).
5. Shoko Nakajima & Moka Miyamoto defeated Suzume & Haru Kazashiro when Miyamoto submitted Kazashiro with the Rashomon (13:35).
6. 1 Vs 2 Handicap Match: Rika Tatsumi & Miu Watanabe defeated Mizuki when Tatsumi pinned Mizuki with the Missile Hip (17:08).
7. International Princess Title Next Challenger Match: Yuki Aino defeated Arisu Endo with the Venus DDT (14:27).

A sudden change in plans shifted the match between Yuki Aino and Arisu Endo into the main event of today’s show. With a shot at the International Princess Title on the line, both women went out there to fight their best. Endo defended herself from the Side Suplex and Venus DDT while going high risk by doing the Tsuruga Castle from the ring apron to the floor as well as an Avalanche Waterwheel Drop back into the ring. Aino was put in the Camel Clutch, reached the ropes but was dragged back away from them. She was able to reach a rope break for a second time to finally free herself. Aino then used her sister’s Bulldog Headlock on Endo to set up the Venus DDT finish.

After the match Aino praised Endo for a strong performance and said she was glad to have fought her today. The two hugged before Endo left the ring to be replaced with Rika Tatsumi. The champion told Aino they will have their title match at Ota Ward Gymnasium for “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’23” on 8th July. She knows the world will be watching so they are going to have a match so exciting it will be heard around the globe! Aino promised to do her part and blow away all her doubts and fears.

The reason for the change in match order was because of Yuka Sakazaki’s neck injury. She appeared in the ring with Mizuki at the beginning of the show to return the vacated Princess Tag Team Titles to Tetsuya Koda. Sakazaki explained to the fans how upset she is over the news and it makes her feel bad for Mizuki too. Her doctor said her neck is in bad shape but she personally thinks she is able to wrestle today. While she tried to protest the decision, Mizuki calmed her down and reminded her it will go against her doctor’s orders. The worst thing that could happen is if Sakazaki wrestles today and injures herself even more. Mizuki convinced Sakazaki to vacate the titles and believe in her as she fights Daydream on her own. The reason why Mizuki refused to get a replacement partner is because she wanted to carry Sakazaki’s feelings into the match by herself.

Sakazaki returned later in the show to be in Mizuki’s corner for the Handicap Match against Daydream. The match was indeed 2 Vs 1 but who was at a disadvantage changed around thanks to a mischievous plan from Mizuki. It’s well known at this point that Tatsumi has a crush on Mizuki. So Mizuki did her best to use Daydream’s teamwork against them, tricking Tatsumi into doing double team moves with her instead of Miu Watanabe! Tatsumi was briefly blinded with love to fall for the plan until she snapped out of it. Mizuki was now at the disadvantage so she pulled out the Whirling Candy to get rid of Watanabe. But Tatsumi stopped her momentum with the Hip Attack, Twist Of Fate and then the Missile Hip to win. Everyone from both Daydream and The Magical Sugar Rabbits bowed to each other after the match. Backstage both teams promised to have their match agains someday no matter where it takes place.

Haru Kazashiro’s progress as a rookie has seen her quickly moving up the card into positions against more established opponents. She got to team with Suzume in a losing effort against Shoko Nakajima & Moka Miyamoto. Suzume kept Nakajima at bay with the Ring A Bell, giving Kazashiro an opening to score a nearfall on Miyamoto with a Low Cross Body. Miyamoto returned fire and made Kazashiro submit to the Rashomon.

A singles match between Hyper Misao and Mahiro Kiryu was put together to capitalise on their story from last month’s “HYPE!” show. Misao came out dressed in her producer outfit armed with a megaphone. Kiryu used her Apology Knee Drop to apologise for standing out too much during Misao’s show. After Misao won the match she shook hands with Kiryu. But just when it looked like they still get along, Misao got a cheap shot in and kicked Kiryu before happily walking away.

Today was eventful for Yuki Arai. She had her return match coming back from a minor foot injury. She showed her foot was 100% by giving Yuki Kamifuku a Big Boot during the match. She also joined in with Raku’s Oyasumi Express. Kamifuku returned the favour by giving Arai a Big Boot of her own. Kaya Toribami & Wakana Uehara showed off their speed with Uehara in particular doing a Space Rolling Elbow to Shino Suzuki in the corner. Shino Suzuki locked in a Sleeper Hold on Kamifuku but it didn’t work out in the end. Kamifuku landed a Dropkick to Suzuki and then pinned her with the Famouser.

After the match it was announced that Arai & Uehara will team up at “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’23” to take on NEO Biishiki-gun! Arai said backstage that she has never met anyone from that group before but always wanted to fight them. She was asked by a reporter if she thinks Sakisama is anything like her tag team partner Saki Akai? Arai noticed the two do look alike so if there are other similarities between them it might give her a bit of an advantage due to what she learned from teaming with Akai.

Pom Harajuku braided her hair to try and match HIMAWARI’s look for their match together. Her attempts to copy HIMAWARI by doing Hair Whips only made her opponent mad and Hair Whip her back. Harajuku then challenged HIMAWARI to race her around the outside of the ring in opposite directions. They did so with HIMAWARI dropping down for Harajuku to hop over her. It went on until Harajuku tripped and fell face first in front of her. Harajuku got her act together back in the ring and won with the Pom de Justice.

The opening match saw Free WiFi defeat the rookie team of Toga & Runa Okubo. Toga got a big hit on Hikari Noa with her Elbow Strike whie Okubo showed her strength by Body Slamming Nao Kakuta. But Kakuta gave Toga a Neck Snap over the top rope and Noa followed up with a Running Neckbreaker Drop for the three count.

Before the matches began, The Up Up Girls performed their new single “Babyface” and then introduced the audience to their newest member Uta. The 16 year old high school student told the fans her favourite wrestler and idol is Miu Watanabe. Her hobbies include watching pro wrestling, drinking all-you-can-drink juice and tea, and watching cute idols on TikTok. Her special skills are reviewing ice cream, playing badminton and table tennis and also talking at a machine gun like speed.

Juria Nagano announced her return match will be at “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’23”. She’s been out of action since January due to a broken finger on her left hand. She told the fans she will do her best to show everyone she has powered up for her return.

A collaboration between NEW ERA and Tokyo Joshi Pro is in the works. TJPW logo baseball caps will be sold soon starting at “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’23”

The 16 wrestlers entering the Tokyo Princess Cup are Mizuki, Rika Tatsumi, Miyu Yamashita, Shoko Nakajima, Miu Watanabe, Hyper Misao, Yuki Aino, Yuki Kamifuku, Nao Kakuta, Hikari Noa, Raku, Suzume, Arisu Endo, Yuki Arai, Moka Miyamoto and Mahiro Kiryu. The brackets will be decided on a later date.

3. Yuki Ueno defeated Kazuma Sumi with a Frog Splash (10:28).
4. Tetsuya Endo & Jun Akiyama defeated Yusuke Okada & Yuya Koroku when Endo pinned Koroku with the Rotating Torture Rack Bomb (11:59).

6. DAMNATION T.A Vs The 37KAMIINA!: Daisuke Sasaki & MJ Paul defeated MAO & Toy Kojima when Paul pinned Kojima with the Death Valley Bomb (13:56).
7. Maikon no Kohara Presents Special Tag Match: Yuji Hino & HARASHIMA defeated Kazusada Higuchi & Takeshi Masada when Hino pinned Masada with the Fuckin’ BOMB (17:05).

Yuji Hino had some harsh words for the missing Chris Brookes after the main event, accusing him of not being strong because he dislocated his shoulder. Kazusada Higuchi and HARASHIMA disagreed and both defended Brookes for being absent. Higuchi told Hino that Brookes will take the KO-D Openweight Title from him and HARASHIMA said Brookes never disappoints the fans. Their opinions made Hino realise that he himself is busy fighting and getting hurt while his challenger is currently resting. Could Hino be going into his big KO-D Title defence at a disadvantage?

DAMNATION T.A are getting annoyed by Toy Kojima’s persistence. No matter how much of a beating they give him in and outside the ring he still tries to fight them. After today’s match Sasaki decided he’s now going to try and break Kojima before 25th June so the vacant KO-D Tag Team Titles match will be turned into a 2 Vs 1 Handicap bout! If Sasaki & MJ Paul get their way, Kojima will never get to stand inside Korakuen Hall ever again!

Speaking of persistence. Kazuki Hirata said he was in great shape today and still got beaten up by Toru Owashi & “brother” YASSHI. Their match also featured Naruki Doi, making it heavily Toryumon flavored. After the match Doi told the fans that the “Dragon” genes are scattered throughout various wrestling promotions.

Hirata claims he is preparing something crazy if he gets to choose the stipulation for the DDT Extreme Title match against MAO. All he said is it will be something outrageous. Meanwhile MAO once again threatened to kick Hirata to death.

The odds were against Akito today but he pulled off the upset by beating Pheromones in a Handicap Match! He was originally supposed to have a team of his own outnumbering Yuki Iino & Danshoku Dieno but changes due to illnesses left Akito having to fight them by himself. Pheromones did their usual acts of humiliation but Akito countered the Cross Ass Sexy Lock Ass into a Kangaroo Clutch to pin Iino for the three count. Akito said DDT is wondering if he really is serious in trying to take down Pheromones? He’ll show the company he is by beating them and forcing them to disband on 23rd July in Sumo Hall!

Saki Akai was given an award by the president of the show’s sponsor Maikon no Kohara. The prize for the award was a year’s worth of Maikon NMN vitamins.

Then three wrestling matches were held featuring the Tokyo Joshi Pro roster including The Up Up Girls themselves Miu Watanabe, Hikari Noa, Raku & Shino Suzuki. Once that was completed came the big news story of the show. The Up Up Girls has a new member joining the group! Her name is Uta, she is from Ishikawa, she was born on 29th March, 2007 and she stands at 150cm tall. Watanabe is both her favorite idol and wrestler. She also likes ice cream. Today Tokyo Joshi Pro announced that Yuka Sakazaki is pulling out of her upcoming match schedule due to a neck injury. Results of a recent medical checkup had doctors recommend Sakazaki to take immediate rest and receive treatment instead of wrestling for the time being. According to TJPW, Sakazaki was determined to wrestle on Sunday’s show because it was the first match in her graduation tour. However she was warned that her neck injury could lead to a serious accident in the ring. It is the duty of both wrestlers and wrestling companies to prevent such accidents from happening. After hearing that explanation, Sakazaki agreed to miss the show and take time off for recovery.

There is currently no timetable for Sakazaki’s return which means some big plans for TJPW need to be changed. The Magical Sugar Rabbits have vacated the Princess Tag Team Titles because Sakazaki is missing the scheduled title defence on Sunday. A replacement match will be announced as soon as it is finalized. No word yet on if the new match will immediately crown the next Princess Tag Champions or will set up a match for the vacant titles down the road. But given who is available it should be something involving Mizuki and Daydream. Also Sakazaki’s match with Nyla Rose at “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’23” on 8th July is now cancelled. Rose will still be wrestling on the show in a singles match but her new opponent will be announced on a later date.
