Danhausen, Joey Janela and Effy will all be part of the Beer Garden show since they will already be in Japan for the GCW tour. I hear Danhausen is still under AEW contract but both parties have become sick of each other so he gets to do stuff like this away from AEW until his deal runs out.

The GCW only shows on their tour are still going to have DDT and Tokyo Joshi Pro talent involved but I’ll save writing about them until the shows take place. I don’t know why they think Broski Jimmy Vs Miyu Yamashita is a good idea but it’s happening.

Oishi Leaving DDT, Takagi Becoming UJPW Spokesman, International Updates

Yesterday DDT and Makoto Oishi held a press conference on short notice to talk about Oishi’s future. He announced that on 3rd October he will be leaving DDT when his contract ends and will be wrestling as a freelancer from that point onwards. He explained that his father-in-law recently passed away so he and his wife Misaki Ohata decided to move their home to Miyagi so Ohata could live closer to her family. During this time Oishi has lived alone in Tokyo while taking trips to see his family once or twice a month. With his children growing up he decided he wants to spend more time raising them in Miyagi. Akito revealed that Oishi has also been working behind the scenes jobs in DDT on a contract basis so it is a big deal for the company that he is leaving. One of Oishi’s jobs was to drive the company bus. It allowed him to get a driver’s license that allows him to work as a taxi driver if he wants to. He joked about possibly becoming the taxi driver for The Saito Brothers.

Oishi will continue to wrestle as a freelancer but he is aware he will be getting less bookings because of his age and location. DDT will still book him for shows they want him on, especially those that take place in Sendai as well as big arena events. Oishi would like to continue teaming with Danshoku Dieno & Jun Akiyama as part of D.O.A. He also wants to wrestle against people like Shunma Katsumata, MAO and Tetsuya Endo before his contract runs out.

Oishi has already contacted Chihiro Hashimoto asking her to let him train at the Sendai Girls dojo. Since Oishi was responsible for training many of the celebrities and entertainers that wrestled in DDT, Sanshiro Takagi suggested he can send them over to Oishi and that dojo in Sendai from now on.

Over a week ago the members of United Japan Pro Wrestling all had a meeting to discuss the next steps for the alliance between many of Japan’s pro wrestling companies. The decision was made to have UJPW to become incorporated in order to strengthen their communication with the Japanese government as well as improve the guidelines for their wrestlers. When this move is completed Sanshiro Takagi will serve UJPW as their main Spokesman.

UJPW currently represents 11 wrestling promotions across 9 companies. The 11 promotions are New Japan, Stardom, All Japan, Big Japan, DDT, DIANA, Dragongate, Ganbare☆Pro, Kyushu Pro, NOAH and Tokyo Joshi Pro. DIANA and Kyushu Pro are new additions but I do not know when they signed up to join UJPW. Although it should be noted that DIANA’s representatives were only at the meeting “in an observing capacity”, whatever that means.

Last but not least there are a few updates on the international shows taking place later this year. Over in England TJPW’s collaboration with EVE has finally found a venue. Their show in London this August will take place at Conway Hall.

Then in November DDT and TJPW will be working with DEFY to hold a weekend’s worth of shows in Seattle, USA. On the first day there will be two DEFY shows, one with TJPW in the afternoon and one with DDT in the evening. Then the next day all three promotions will be working together for a supeshow finale. TJPW will be sending around 10 to 12 wrestlers for the show. DDT has not given a number for how many wrestlers they will be bringing.

Moeka Haruhi tested positive for covid and will not be at the show. She was meant to be in the main event but will be replaced by a mystery X wrestler.

Droog-K is the former KANNA from TJPW. She returned to wrestling earlier this year as part of P.P.P. Tokyo.

Tokyo Princess Cup 2024 Brackets

The bracket drawing for the Tokyo Princess Cup was held in Shibuya during the week with the majority of the entrants in attendance. Those who could not be there for various reasons included Ryo Mizunami, Yuki Arai, Suzume, Pom Harajuku, Runa Okubo and Zara Zakher. Everyone who did attend all gave comments about their first matches and tournament goals.

Yuki Arai and Kaya Toribami debuted in the same year just a month away from each other and are of similar age. They’ve never had a singles match against each other until now and Toribami wants to give it her all so she can win.

Miu Watanabe pointed out she can achieve the Grand Slam of all Tokyo Joshi Pro accomplishments if she can win the Princess Cup. That means winning every TJPW championship and tournament. Arisu Endo is having a lot of tag team success lately but wants to focus on winning a singles tournament by herself this summer.

It’s been a frustrating time for Yuki Aino because she feels there are wresters in TJPW who become so amazing that she is not good enough to fight them. However she knows how many people support her and have high expectations for her. She wants to spend her hot summer smashing through the competition.

Shino Suzuki has had a couple of singles matches against Suzume a few times already but has never beaten her. She will do her best to beat her for the first time.

The two time winner Mizuki says she is aiming to reach the top yet again. However she admits it gets lonely up there so she wants everyone to support her. Moka Miyamoto doesn’t want to let her do that though. She wants to prove she is the best just like Mizuki does.

Every year Yuki Kamifuku tells people she hates competing in tournaments. But recently especially after she reached the final last year fans have encouraged her to do her best. Even her mother scolds her for being so negative about it. So this year Kamifuku is taking a more cheerful approach to being in the tournament.

Whoever wins between Arai and Toribami, either will be a first time opponent for Wakana Uehara. She is determined to win no matter who she faces.

Zakher’s first match in the tournament will be against either Watanabe or Endo.

She feels bad for saying this but Shoko Nakajima wants Aino to beat Okubo so she can face her in Round 2. After the match she had against Aja Kong, Nakajima feels the need to evolve in order to survive in TJPW. For this tournament she wants to grab a hold of something new and break out of her shell. Even then it won’t mean anything unless she wins the tournament again.

For Rika Tatsumi the Princess Cup is the fastest way for her to get another shot at regaining the Princess Of Princess Title. Whether she fights against rookies or veterans she is going to destroy them all this summer! Toga knows just how crazy Tatsumi gets in her matches. She will try to surpass that craziness to advance to the next round.

Due to scheduling, Ryo Mizunami’s bracket spot was automatically placed in Round 2 in the beginning before any other drawing was picked. Haru Kazashiro is a little scared to be her opponent because of the difference in strength but also thinks she is lucky to get such a big opponent in her first tournament appearance.

He will pay a visit to BASARA the week before his retirement to face Isami Kodaka at Korakuen Hall. It will be one of if not the final singles match of Ishikawa’s career.

Something BASARA tweeted out today is their plan to separate between the two kinds of “UTAGE” shows they will be producing from August onwards. The “HIEN” shows are now labelled as “Hard Mode” events. The tweet compares the term to “Bati Bati” and they later ruled out doing Hardcore Matches on these shows when a fan responding to them got the two mixed up. So it sounds like BASARA might be giving Battlarts style wrestling a go when using that name. The “SOUEN” shows are now labelled “Fudangi BASARA” and will be no different to the regular “UTAGE” shows they’ve been doing up until now.

The theme for DDT’s return to Osaka next month will be a battle between wrestlers from east Japan against wrestlers from west Japan (and beyond in Chris Brookes’ case). Meanwhile Yoshiko Hasegawa, Riara, Sayaka Unagi and Momoka Hanazono are facing each other in tag action. Coming out of yesterday’s show MAO has made the dramatic decision to run away from The 37KAMIINA for the time being. He feels it would be best for him to fight against the group so both he and Yuki Ueno will be at their most motivated heading into Sumo Hall. So for most of July MAO is hopping from unit to unit across DDT in 6-Man Tag Matches against his friends. Out of all the groups he could team up with, DDT is trying him out with DAMNATION T.A first. He is well aware they could stab him in the back but is willing to risk it so he can wrestle against Ueno more often.

Actually, maybe not with BURNING. Their focus is on preparing to defend the KO-D Tag Team Titles against TEAM NOAH. After a few clashes that happened in both DDT and NOAH recently, Yuki Iino has demanded a singles match against Go Shiozaki to prove who is better.
