*V2 for Konosuke Takeshita. Tetsuya Endo cashes in his Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract.

takeshita-beats-endo

Konosuke Takeshita is still the KO-D Openweight Champion but it came at the cost of losing his best friend and tag team partner. Tetsuya Endo was the latest Right To Challenge holder to get his title shot and threw everything out there. He hit a No Touch Tope and a Swan Dive Elbow but Takeshita yelled at him to attack more. Endo went for the Torture Rack Bomb but it was countered with a Headlock. The Sky Twister Press missed and the two were soon both on their knees trading Elbow Smashes. Endo hit a Flip Piledriver for a nearfall. He later did an Avalanche Hurricanrana but Takeshita used the momentum to roll Endo into a pin for a two count. Takeshita then countered another Hurricanra into a Power Bomb. It finally took two German Suplexes to put Endo away.

this-is-the-endo

Takeshita praised the match they just had and said he wants their generation to liven up DDT. He offered a handshake but was suddenly interrupted by DAMNATION. Unit leader Daisuke Sasaki looked at Endo and asked him if he was tired of being a second class wrestler underneath his friend? He held up a DAMNATION T-shirt and asked if Endo wants to join them. Endo shocked everyone by pushing Takeshita away and accepting the shirt! Sasaki introduced everyone to DAMNATION’s 4th member, Tetsuya Endo!

owashi-rtc-challenge

When DAMNATION left ringside Takeshita was crushed. Ever since Endo won the contract in Hakata, Takeshita wanted nothing more than to have this title match with his friend in Korakuen Hall. If that wasn’t bad enough, “Sandstorm” played over the music system and Toru Owashi came out . The holder of the last active Right To Challenge contract finally decided on the date for his KO-D Title match. Amon Tsurumi stepped in and guessed the date. 23rd July in Yokohama? No, Owashi said that was too soon. How about 13th August in Shinjuku FACE for the last show of Beer Garden week? No, instead Owashi will cash in at the beginning of Beer Garden week on 8th August! Owashi said he waited four months for his title shot because it made him strong and the timing of it means he is guaranteed to go into Sumo Hall as the champion if he wins. And in Sumo Hall he will be so strong it’s scary! Takeshita’s response was that he will beat Owashi with the German Suplex and go on to face Shuji Ishikawa.

irie-farewell

Shigehiro Irie bid farewell to DDT and Japan with his final match before his American excursion. Irie couldn’t hold back the tears as he was showered with green tape from the fans. But he still had a match with Yukio Sakaguchi, HARASHIMA and Keisuke Ishii to go through. He hit the Beast Bomber twice on Ishii to win the match for himself & Sakaguchi. Irie bowed to all four sides of the arena to a thunderous applause.

sasaki-betrays-togo

Daisuke Sasaki isn’t happy to see his mentor Dick Togo back in action. Togo won his Korakuen return match and offered to shake hands with Kazusada Higuchi afterwards. Sasaki came out and went to hug Togo but instead gave him a Low Blow. Sasaki called Togo a dickhead and said that his disciple has gotten stronger during his four year absence. Togo tackled Sasaki and punched him over and over until wrestlers and referees came out to stop him. Sasaki gave one of the referees the Michinoku Driver II before leaving the ring. Togo was furious at Sasaki’s actions.

sasadango-nwa-manager

NωA continues to struggle, this time losing to DAMNATION. However help came afterwards in the form of Super Sasadango Machine. Sasadango complimented their musical and dancing talents but noticed a big flaw in their performance. They have no strong business relationships. Their strength in pro wrestling is tied to the strength of their business relationships. Sasadango offered to be their manager and handle all of NωA’s behind the scenes business. He also promised to get them booked on the “DDT FES 2016” show in November.

owashi-rtc-defence

Toru Owashi successfully defended his Right To Challenge Contract once again, this time in a 10-Person Tag Match. Owashi unmasked Super Sasadango Machine and pinned him with La Magistral Cradle. Danshoku Dino told Owashi after the match that today was the last DDT show in Korakuen Hall before “PETER PAN 2016” so maybe he can finally cash in his title shot. Sanshiro Takagi also pushed for Owashi to do it. Or maybe he could have the contract instead. Owashi slapped Takagi and said he already decided when he will get his title match. Owashi then had to flee from ringside when he was chased by wrestlers begging for the contract.

takao-sato-ajpw

Masa Takanashi is now wrestling under his real name Masahiro Takanashi plus he got a new entrance song to boot. But his moment in the spotlight was stolen by Soma Takao when Takao pinned Kota Umeda to continue his string of victories. His victory was interrupted by the return of Hikaru Sato! The Hard Hit fighter and former DDT wrestler is now currently the AJPW Jr. Heavyweight Champion and he was recently challenged by Takao to a title match. Sato’s appearance was to announce the date and location of the match. All Japan has allowed the match to take place at “PETER PAN 2016”!

sunflower-bomb-kenso

Amon Tsurumi’s bright idea of pairing Sanshiro Takagi & KENSO together as a team caused as much trouble as expected yet still produced results. Before their match began Takagi and KENSO argued over whose entrance song they should use. Daisuke Kiso came up with the solution to use both songs at the same time. During the match Takagi & KENSO collided with missed attacks several times. Takagi decided he had enough to he gave KENSO the Sunflower Bomb onto Mizuki Watase. KENSO stayed on top of Watase so that counted as a pin. After the match KENSO rallied the fans to convince DDT that he should be get a match at “PETER PAN 2016”. The fans booed him and Takagi refused. Tsurumi decided to give KENSO one more opportunity. He’ll fight Takagi at Kasukabe Hall on 6th August and if his performance is good enough he’ll get added to the “PETER PAN 2016” card. Tsurumi then told Takagi to please somehow become a better wrestler!

kudo-returns

KUDO gave an important update at the start of the show about his recovery process. He thanked the fans for waiting because he will return to action at “PETER PAN 2016”! He will team with Masahiro Takanashi to take on Yasu Urano & Akito. KUDO told everyone his goal is to start from zero and climb all the way back up to the KO-D Championship!

A big title match for “PETER PAN 2016” on 28th August was announced. Ken Ohka & KAI will defend the KO-D Tag Team Titles against HARASHIMA & Yuko Miyamoto, aka Yankee Smile!

Some new DDT merch is in production. NωA is getting an EVERLAST T-shirt, Saki Akai is getting a GLAM JAM bag and Danshoku Dino is getting a new DVD currently titled “DVD To Change The Friends Of Danshoku Dino To Like Professional Wrestling”.

The emergence of Tetsuya Endo challenging Konosuke Takeshita for the KO-D Openweight Title has created a small rift in Happy Motels for now. Antonio Honda is siding with Takeshita while Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi is siding with Endo. This leads to a tag team match between the two teams in Saitama.

DDT is using the Infomercial Match to shill their own exercise equipment. Kazuki Hirata & Saka Akai are two of the faces of the Dramatic Exercise Series brand.

With only two Right To Challenge Contracts left in play and one of them soon to be cashed in, Toru Owashi is now a targeted man. He’s been very patient when it comes to getting his title shot but with every upcoming match he risks losing that chance.

Amon Tsurumi has kept an eye over the feud between Sanshiro Takagi and KENSO this year and decided to do something about it. Both wrestlers have been on a rut in DDT so Tsurumi came up with the bright idea of making them team together to break that rut.

0. King Of Dark Title: Rekka defeated Gota Ihashi (c) with a Jumping Cross Armbreaker (5:08).
*D1 for Gota Ihashi.
1. KENSO, Hiroshi Fukuda & Eddie French defeated Sanshiro Takagi, Kazuki Hirata & Guanchulo when Fukuda submitted Hirata with a Crab Hold (12:04).
2. 3 Way Match: Toru Owashi defeated Makoto Oishi and Tomomitsu Matsunaga when Owashi pinned both Oishi and Matsunaga with a Double School Boy (5:01).
3. Team Drift Goodbye Series: Ken Ohka, Danshoku Dino & Super Sasadango Machine defeated Keisuke Ishii, Shigehiro Irie & Soma Takao when Ohka pinned Ishii with the Spear Of Flame (12:40).
4. Shunma Katsumata & Kouki Iwasaki defeated Kazusada Higuchi & Mao Inoue when Iwasaki pinned Inoue with the Leg Capture Suplex (14:32).
5. HARASHIMA, Akito & Yasu Urano defeated Antonio Honda, Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo when Urano pinned Honda with the Tombstone Piledriver (16:58).
6. Daisuke Sasaki & Mad Polly defeated Yukio Sakaguchi & Masa Takanashi when Polly pinned Takanashi with the Reverse Splash (11:48).

Daisuke Sasaki introduced everyone to his brand new pet and it is big and mean. His name is Mad Polly, he is 180cm tall and weighs 140kg. With Demolition style facepaint and a costume that reminds me of Bam Bam Bigelow, Polly was ordered to go after Yukio Sakaguchi. Polly withstood Sakaguchi’s kicks and threw him over with a German Suplex. Masa Takanashi tried to help Sakaguchi in taking down the newcomer but they were both taken down with a Lariat. Polly Choke Slammed Takanashi and then pinned him with a Vader style Reverse Splash. Sasaki added insult to injury by giving Sakaguchi the Vietnam Driver II. Sasaki then introduced his “cute” new pet to the crowd and called himself the charismatic double champion.

The semi-main event was vital for both teams to win. Both Smile Squash and Happy Motels were involved in bid defeats to Daisuke Sasaki at “MAX BUMP 2016”. HARASHIMA lost his KO-D Openweight Title to Sasaki and the New Gen Combo failed to regain the KO-D Tag Team Titles from Sasaki & Shuji Ishikawa. Also Akito & Yasu Urano came out of the show as the next challengers for the tag titles. Antonio Honda gave a long speech to his teammates about training their soul, using dumbbells and producing tremendous nose hair in the process. The motivating talk didn’t work and Smile Squash came out of the match as the winners. Honda took the blame for the loss.

Ken Ohka eagerly wished Team Drift the best of luck in their futures. Each of the Drift wrestlers were a little put off by Ohka excitedly shaking their hands after the match. But it also gave them enough encouragement to challenge Team DNA to a KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Title match on the 15th May Nagoya show. They want to win the titles and disband as champions. Kouki Iwasaki accepted the challenge because he wants DNA to beat the best teams in DDT even if they are about to split up.

Both Tomomitsu Matsunaga and Makoto Oishi are on the hunt for a Right To Challenge Contract. They both had an opportunity to win one from Toru Owashi. Owashi’s contract arm band was ripped off and thrown over to Amon Tsurumi. Both Matsunaga and Oishi chased after Tsurumi but got a Double Lariat for their troubles. Later in the match Owashi capitalised on his opponents’ infighting by pinning both of them at the same time.

Hiroshi Fukuda tricked Kazuki Hirata into dancing when he sang “You Are More Beautiful Than Roses” into the microphone. He then rolled over Hirata into a Crab Hold during the dance. After that match KENSO confronted Sanshiro Takagi again about joining DDT full time. He said would have attended “MAX BUMP 2016” last week but his wife Hiroko Suzuki had a Funabashi City Council meeting that day. KENSO then brought up the King Of DDT tournament and requested entry into the tournament. Takagi refused but Amon Tsurumi offered KENSO an opportunity. KENSO will have a match in Nagoya on 15th May to determine if he deserves to enter King Of DDT.

DDT will be heading to Nagano in June and the management think it could be the start of something good. They decided to set up a sales manager position for the Nagano region. Toru Owashi volunteered to take the position. He was given 30,000 yen for operating expenses and is tasked in making the first Nagano show a success.

IMG_1874

I was in Japan for almost two weeks for a gigantic wrestling trip across Tokyo. A blog post about that entire trip is in the works but for now I’ll focus on the DDT show I got to see in Saitama. After all what sort of DDT fan would I be if I didn’t get to see one of their shows during this trip? They were gearing up for a tour around Japan during my stay but Kasukabe Hall was within distance from where I and my friends were staying. So after an email exchange with DDT to get tickets myself, Joey from America and Matt from Canada set off for Saitama.

IMG_1876

Kasukabe is a quiet town from what I can tell. We found a sushi restaurant and through very limited Japanese (zero from myself) were able to order a meal that included tiny little appetizer squids. I didn’t have the stomach for it (blame Splatoon) but the others were happy to try it. According to them it tastes like ginger. We found Kasukabe Hall afterwards, got our tickets and lined up for the show. After getting in it didn’t take long for Amon Tsurumi to greet us. This was the start of a surreal evening where different members of DDT staff came over to greet and thank me for the work I do on this blog. Joey and Matt were amazed at the situation.

IMG_1884

The show began with a King Of Dark Title match. Seiya Morohashi defeated Hoshitango to get rid of the cursed belt and pass it over to the Argentinian. Morohashi treated the belt with disdain by swinging it between his legs during his ring announcement. A Quarrel Bomber put away Hoshitango in a brief match. Morohashi then announced he will be quitting DDT in April and is becoming a freelancer. He will still work for their Best Stretch business which is opening a second office in Shinjuku later this month.

IMG_1889

The show began with the current Right To Challenge contract holders filling the ring then moved onto the first match. The dates for the next four scheduled KO-D Openweight Title defences were announced. They are happening on 24th April in Korakuen Hall, 8th May in Sapporo, 29th May in Korakuen and 3rd July in Hakata. This does not include any possible Right To Challenge cash ins.

IMG_1896

The first match began with Mizuki Watase offering an apology to Saki Akai for the bad blood between them but then yelled he lied. The two were rough to each other throughout the match and Mizuki got the pin on Akai after a Dropkick to win her Right To Challenge contract. Makoto Oishi took the blame for his team’s loss. He and Akai will face Watase and LiLiCo at Korakuen on 24th April. With both the Right To Challenge contract and Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title on the line Akai has a chance to win either of them back from her enemies.

IMG_1914

The 2nd match had a lot of comedy based around getting Gota Ihashi tired. He was made to run the ropes a lot and was constantly thrown out of the ring and tossed over to a wall. Also Toru Owashi and Tomomitsu Matsunaga had a duel using their contract arm bands as weapons. Ihashi missed a Moonsault and Owashi capitalised with La Magistral Cradle to win.

IMG_1934

Match #3 was KENSO and Rekka fighting over who deserved to be in DNA. KENSO is trying to find any way to join DDT full time. If he has to go through DDT’s developmental brand then so be it. Rekka had the DNA roster support and was led out to the ring in a train formation with the wrestlers. KENSO was relentless and even did a Plancha onto Rekka. They brawled very close to us and KENSO hit a nasty looking Brainbuster onto the floor. Rekka tried to fight back and even kicked out of a Brainbuster at one but he was put away with a Diving Elbow Drop. KENSO told Rekka and the other DNA wrestlers that this business is not so sweet and he is above their level. Kouki Iwasaki took offense and challenge KENSO to defend DNA’s pride. Tsurumi was reluctant to make the match because he doesn’t want to book KENSO again but agreed to let it happen at DNA 16 on 11th May.

IMG_1945

Next up was Danshoku Dino Vs Kazuki Hirata. I warned Joey and Matt about Dino’s entrance antics but luckily for us he only had eyes for Hirata on this day. He attacked Hirata before the dance could begin and the match began. A minute later Dino applied the Lip Lock and then twisted Hirata’s arm for a clutch variation of the move, winning the match by tapout. After the match we found out Hirata had his date with Aja Kong and it was recorded. A video played on the screen of the date. They went on a ferris wheel and Hirata was scared of heights. They then ended the night sitting on a bench and looked like they were about to kiss until Hirata got cold feet. He said he tried to like her but it’s impossible. He apologised and ran off, leaving Kong alone.

IMG_1961

Dino asked Hirata why he ran off. Hirata said it’s because she’s too chubby and the date was a terrible prank. We then got a surprise when Aja Kong showed up at ringside! She was in a cold state of emotion and Hirata was frozen with fear in the ring. Dino suggested they wrestle a match there and then. He took out a referee shirt so he could look over the match. The bell rang and Kong took her time beating up Hirata. He had one chance at a comeback but wasn’t strong enough to lift Kong up for the Viagra Driver. Kong beat him up again and Dino was too scared to call any fouls so he just let her do what she wanted. One Spinning Backfist later and that was it for Hirata. Dino very slowly counted the pin but it was clear that Hirata was out cold. When he came to he said he realised how wrong he was to ditch Kong and offered to take her out again. Kong rejected him and instead showed interest in Nobuhiro Shimatani, chasing him out of the ring when he got too scared of her. Dino and Hirata were left stunned for a few minutes by what happened. “Eeeeeeh?” … “Eeeeeeh?” … “Eeeeeeh?” ……….. “Eeeeeeh?!?”

IMG_1965

I can now say after seeing them in person Yukio Sakaguchi, Kota Umeda and Shigehiro Irie all hit hard. Really hard.

During intermission I got to meet Sanshiro Takagi and Guanchulo and had a brief talk with them. I also got to finally speak with the man behind the Extreme Party website who was such a help during the early years of this blog. It’s pretty weird when Takagi called me over to his table and showed me my Twitter accounts on his phone in order to ask if I was that guy. This show happened half a day after Kota Ibushi’s appearance on NXT Takeover: Dallas but that wasn’t the place to talk about it.

IMG_1986

“American Dream” played over the speakers for the semi-main event. Antonio Honda and Hiroshi Fukuda came out for an all Happy Motel tag team match against the New Gen Combo. Honda & Fukuda tried to keep the match at their pace but Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo came out the winners in the end. Fukuda’s Perfect Plex was countered into a Brainbuster and Endo hit the Sky Twister Press for the pin. Honda & Fukuda threw their support behind the New Gen Combo for their KO-D Tag Team Titles rematch with Daisuke Sasaki & Shuji Ishikawa later this month.

IMG_2021

The main event was the best match of the show. Kazusada Higuchi has a great presence about him and knows how to throw his weight around. His moments with HARASHIMA were very good and the match played around all of Smile Squash trying to cut down Higuchi by the legs. Mao Inoue also shined during the ending sequence but my highlight of the match was HARASHIMA countering Inoue’s Screw Kick with a Leg Sweep in mid air. HARASHIMA won with the Somato of course and Higuchi left the ring to go lick his wounds. The show ended with Smile Squash giving a victory speech. A good end to the evening.

I would like to thank Sanshiro Takagi, Amon Tsurumi and Guanchulo so much for all that they did to accommodate me, Matt and Joey throughout the show. I’d also like to thank Naomi Susan for everything she did to help organise tickets. Quite a few surprises happened along the way and afterwards but I don’t think I can say much about it for now.

0. King Of Dark Title: Guanchulo (c) & DJ Nira defeated Seiya Morohashi & Hoshitango when Guanchulo pinned Morohashi with an Oklahoma Roll (4:46).
*Guanchulo passes D1. Seiya Morohashi becomes the 13th King Of Dark Champion.
1. Makoto Oishi & Saki Akai defeated Tomomitsu Matsunaga & Mizuki Watase when Oishi pinned Watase with a Modified Airplane Spin (7:36).
2. Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie defeated Yukio Sakaguchi & Kota Umeda when Ishii pinned Umeda with the Beast Bomber (10:32).
3. 3 Way Match: Jun Kasai defeated KENSO and Gota Ihashi when Kasai pinned Ihashi with the Pearl Harbour Splash (8:45).
4. Antonio Honda, Tetsuya Endo & Kouki Iwasaki defeated Danshoku Dino, Super Sasadango Machine & Daisuke Kiso Ken Ohka when Honda pinned Sasadango with the Diving Fist Drop (12:12).
5. Road To Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Battle Royal: Kazuki Hirata defeated Ryuichi Sekine by Ring Out (10:01).
Order Of Elimination: Kazusada Higuchi, Soma Takao, Masa Takanashi, Cherry, Toru Owashi, Ryuichi Sekine.
6. Konosuke Takeshita & Hiroshi Fukuda defeated Daisuke Sasaki & Shuji Ishikawa when Takeshita pinned Sasaki with the German Suplex (13:04).
7. HARASHIMA, Akito & Yasu Urano defeated Isami Kodaka, Takumi Tsukamoto & Ryota Nakatsu when HARASHIMA pinned Nakatsu with the Somato (14:35).

Not long to go now until the DDT 19th Anniversary show in Sumo Hall. In their final skirmish HARASHIMA’s team got the better of Isami Kodaka and his BASARA friends. Kodaka was powerless to stop HARASHIMA from hitting the Somato on Ryota Nakatsu. HARASHIMA told the crowd that he is sure to win the KO-D Openweight Title from Kodaka and when he does he’ll bring it back to Kasukabe. Why? Because he trains!

Daisuke Sasaki & Shuji Ishikawa suffered their first defeat as a team and it was against one half of the KO-D Tag Team Champions. Konosuke Takeshita had Hiroshi Fukuda constantly singing him songs from his corner to motivate him while he was wrestling. Sasaki & Ishikawa attacked their opponents with a chair when the referee was knocked out but a mistimed Lariat saw Ishikawa deck his partner by accident. Takeshita quickly capitalised and pinned Sasaki with the German Suplex. Sasaki ordered Ishikawa to attack Takeshita with a chair but Tetsuya Endo suddenly appeared and gave Ishikawa a Swan Dive Elbow. Endo told the challengers that even though they beat himself and Takeshita in single matches, they won’t be able to beat them in a tag team match for the titles.

The Battle Royal came down to Kazuki Hirata and Ryuichi Sekine both wearing Hirata GO! glasses and dancing on the ring apron. When the dancing stopped Hirata Dropkicked Sekine to the floor. Hirata said his reward for winning should be entering last in the Right To Challenge Rumble at Sumo Hall. Amon Tsurumi warned that all of the Right To Challenge contracts could be taken by the time Hirata enters the match. Hirata agreed and then asked if he could enter at No. 1 instead. Tsurumi said that would put him in a big disadvantage. Hirata agreed but felt entering second or third would be half-hearted. Tsurumi accepted his request.

Danshoku Dino & Super Sasadango Machine spent some time building up their mystery partner for the show. They filmed their reveal next to the men’s restroom backstage. Suddenly Shuji Ishikawa walked out of the restroom but it wasn’t him. It was the man who walked out after him, referee Daisuke Kiso! He didn’t last long in the match and his limp body had to be carried away from ringside. Luckily Ken Ohka was in the building and he took Kiso’s place, reuniting #OhkaEmpire! Unfortunately it wasn’t enough and they took a loss. Dino looked concerned afterwards. His goal to collect asses for his match against Akebono is moving at a slow pace. Ohka encouraged him to hang in there. He then encouraged Sasadango to hang in there and win the DDT Extreme Title from Kendo Kashin. He then encouraged Antonio Honda to hang in there and prepare for Tatsumi Fujinami. He then encouraged Kouki Iwasaki to hang in there and do his best in the DNA Offer Match. He then encouraged himself to hang in there and win the Right To Challenge Rumble.

In a preview of the Weapon Treasure Hunt match at Sumo Hall, KENSO, Jun Kasai and Gota Ihashi faced off in a 3 Way Match. KENSO rejected Kasai’s request to team up on Ihashi. He also turned down a similar request from Ihashi. Ihashi took out 10,000 yen from his booth and offered it to Kasai so they could form an alliance. Kasai thought about it and said “Ikuzo brother!” The alliance didn’t work and KENSO quickly foiled their double team attempts. Ihashi soon got the better of KENSO but that was when Kasai decided to end the alliance and hit Ihashi with a Lariat. He then hit the Pearl Harbour Splash to win. Kasai said he is the real king of Street Wrestling, not that bastard Kota Ibushi.

Kota Umeda tried to make it to three victories in one day with his new Umeda Driver finisher. However Shigehiro Irie was too heavy and fought out of the move before pinning Umeda with the Beast Bomber.

Makoto Oishi and Saki Akai wound up Mizuki Watase in their match by asking if he was a transsexual.

Seiya Morohashi was accidentally flattened by Hoshitango’s Midnight Buenos Aires, allowing Guanchulo to roll him up for the win. There will be no more King Of Dark Title matches until Sumo Hall so Morohashi is stuck as the champion for the next couple of weeks. He kept on bothering Amon Tsurumi during the show to change his mind.

*V4 for Daisuke Sasaki.
2. Sanshiro Takagi, Toru Owashi & Kazuki Hirata Vs Kazusada Higuchi, Shunma Katsumata & Kouki Iwasaki when Hirata pinned Iwasaki with the Miracle One Shot Cradle (10:11).
3. 3 Way Match: Kengo Takai defeated Danshoku Dino and Guanchulo when Takai pinned Guanchulo with a Lariat (7:40).
4. Konosuke Takeshita, Tetsuya Endo & Hiroshi Fukuda defeated Yukio Sakaguchi, Masa Takanashi & Gota Ihashi when Takeshita pinned Ihashi with the German Suplex (10:27).
5. Isami Kodaka defeated Kota Umeda with the Isamuashi Zan (10:57).
6. Keisuke Ishii, Shigehiro Irie & Soma Takao defeated HARASHIMA, Akito & Tomomitsu Matsunaga when Irie pinned Matsunaga with the Beast Bomber (11:20).
7. Antonio Honda defeated Yasu Urano with the Diving Fist Drop (19:28).

In the main event Antonio Honda got a much needed boost of momentum by beating Yasu Urano. Afterwards Honda spoke about recently turning 38 years old and compared it to The Walking Dead. He’s been in a pessimistic mood as if he was in a world filled with zombies. Even if he gets rid of the zombies he never knows when he could die and turning 38 makes him feel like he’s one step closer to death. However last year he had a good time wrestling against younger people like Kazuki Hirata and Akito, especially his match with Akito for the DDT Extreme Title. It was moments like them that reminds him why he is dedicated to pro wrestling. He invited the rest of Happy Motels into the ring and told them, the referee and the audience to embrace these moments with him. In the post-match interview Honda brought up The Walking Dead again and explained that wrestling Urano was like fighting a zombie. No matter how hard he hit him he always came back. The only way to beat him was to shoot him through the head. But since he had no guns he had to use the Bionic Elbow and Diving Fist Drop instead.

Shigehiro Irie continues to steam roll through his opponents. His only thoughts right now are beating HARASHIMA later this month and his recent victories are keeping him sharp.

Kota Umeda confronted Amon Tsurumi at the start of the show asking if he could be inserted into the KO-D No. 1 Contender’s Match on 28th February after he beats Isami Kodaka. Tsurumi told him that would be impossible but relented when Umeda threatened him. Umeda was happy with the decision and now more motivated for his match. Unfortunately he couldn’t beat Kodaka and the KO-D Openweight Champion now has a clean sweep over Shuten-dōji in singles matches except for KUDO. Kodaka said he will wait for KUDO to return.

In a non-title match T2Hide were able to beat their upcoming challengers from DNA. Kazuki Hirata told the DNA wrestlers to do their best training because the match result will be the same at Korakuen Hall. Kouki Iwasaki was annoyed that he was pinned from a Cradle and is determined not to let that happen again when the titles are on the line.

Daisuke Sasaki interrupted the opening announcements to demand his match with Makoto Oishi to be a MAX Lucha Libre Maximo Title Match. He beat Oishi to add another successful title defence to his reign. Backstage Sasaki accused DDT of probably being behind a conspiracy to not book title defences for him.

*KAT-TOO are now banned from dancing in Numazu.
5. HARASHIMA & Ken Ohka defeated Daisuke Sasaki & Suguru Miyatake when Ohka pinned Miyatake with the Spear Of Flame (12:56).
6. KO-D Tag Team Titles Tournament – Round 1: Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo defeated Yukio Sakaguchi & Kota Umeda when Endo pinned Umeda with the Sky Twister Press (22:34).

Happy Motels is the first team to qualify for the 23rd December KO-D Tag Team Titles match. Tetsuya Endo also gets some momentum for his KO-D Openweight Title match on 13th December by beating a team featuring the previous champion.

HARASHIMA & Ken Ohka got the better of Daisuke Sasaki & Suguru Miyatake, putting to rest any claims that Sasaki & Miyatake deserved a spot in the Tag Title tournament. Sasaki complained to Amon Tsurumi about the exclusion before the match began.

The show began with KAT-TOO entering the ring and dancing to the song “Chankapana” by NEWS. The performance was interrupted by T2Hide. Kazuki Hirata said the only dance they should be doing is the HIRATA GO! dance. Danshoku Dino came out and reminded T2Hide that he is one of their next challengers for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles. Dino challenged them to a 6-Man Tag against himself and KAT-TOO. A special stipulation was also added. The losing team would be banned from dancing in Numazu! During the match the back of Makoto Oishi’s tights were pulled and his backside was exposed. Dino lifted him onto the top turnbuckle with the goal of shoving his opponents into his head. However Shunma Katsumata ended up in that position instead and was later pinned by Hirata. Oishi was stuck on the turnbuckles until Kazusada Higuchi came to pick him up and carry him away from ringside.

Akito and Antonio Honda put a lot of focus into submission holds during Match #3.

4b. Hiroshi Fukuda defeated Konosuke Takeshita with a Harai-Goshi (7:48).
4c. Hiroshi Fukuda defeated Konosuke Takeshita with the Perfect Cradle (13:36).
4d. Konosuke Takeshita defeated Hiroshi Fukuda with a Frankensteiner (18:22).
4e. Overtime Sudden Death: Konosuke Takeshita defeated Hiroshi Fukuda with the German Suplex (1:28).

Konosuke Takeshita and Hiroshi Fukuda had an Ironman match that lasted from the time it started until 8:45 pm. I don’t know what time it begun but tweets about the match suggest that it lasted just under 20 minutes in total. Midway through the match when the score was tied one a piece, Fukuda bumped into the referee. The room darkened and suddenly “nWo Sting” appeared in the ring! He attacked Takeshita with a baseball bat and hit the Scorpion Death Drop. “Sting” then dragged Fukuda over Takeshita for the pin but he only got a two count. When the clock struck 20:45 the match ended in a 2-2 draw. Takeshita challenged Fukuda to sudden death overtime and it was accepted. The two collided over and over with Lariats but Takeshita caught Fukuda with a German Suplex to grab the victory.

Antonio Honda entered Shin-kiba 1st Ring today to face one of the toughest challenges of not just his career, but of his entire life. Transparent Mel Gibson flew into Japan on his transparent private jet to answer Honda’s challenge and the two went face to face in the ring as the live commentary team talked about Gibson’s movies. When Honda took control he drank from a bottle of whiskey and began impersonating Jack Nicholson’s character from Easy Rider. Gibson fought back until Honda started Hulking up. Honda applied a Guillotine Drop and told the ref to ask if Gibson would submit. Gibson yelled “Freedom!” Honda let Gibson go and talked about watching a match from a college wrestling club called HWWA. In that match a young wrestler named Harley Rape was fighting the Invisible Man. The point of the story is Honda learned that every person has their struggles, even invisible people. Honda invited Gibson to dance as Leonard Cohen’s “Bird On A Wire” played over the speakers. The two danced together until Honda hit Gibson with a cheap shot and pinned him with a Backslide. They still hugged afterwards.

Everyone in the Ladder match had to wrestle in hot pants. Daisuke Sasaki was given a wedgie as he climbed the ladder but he admitted it felt good. Ryu Gouma said Sasaki and Yumehito Imanari should have been arrested for public indecency. However when he was given a wedgie he too admitted it felt good.

Antonio Honda in an afro wig was the referee for Match #1. He was constantly finding ways to avoid counting pins made by Sayaka Obihiro. Eventually he was knocked out by Obihiro and Daisuke Kiso ran down to make the three count when Obihiro did the Half Hatch Suplex.

Tetsuya Endo was interviewed by Hisaya Imabayashi (nice to hear he recovered from his fatal car crash) at the start of the show. Imabayashi said Endo had a similar looking face to female astronaut Chiaki Mukai, Endo was offended by the comment. Takeshita had to step in and prevent a fight from breaking out.

In the dark match Yasu Urano had to face one of Fukuda’s friends. Shintaro Muroya wore one of Fukuda’s old wrestling costumes and was aided by Fukuda throughout the match. Fukuda laid out Urano with the Perfect Plex and told Murotani to climb the top rope. Murotani did so but hesitated to jump. He waited so long that he was counted out and the match was awarded to Urano.

1. Bra & Blindfold Watermelon Splitting Death Match: Antonio Honda defeated Daisuke Sasaki when Honda split the watermelon (13:50).
2. Wrestling Classroom From Those Days: Shigehiro Irie & Kazuaki Mihara defeated Konosuke Takeshita & TORU when Irie pinned TORU with the Beast Bomber (15:14).
3. Superman Comes To Japan!?: USA Offer Match: Hara Cena & Hiroshi Fukuda defeated Tsuyoso Michaels & HHHH (w/ Choina) when Fukuda pinned HHHH with the Perfect Plex (15:07).
4. Entetsu Challenge: Kenny Omega defeated Tetsuya Endo with the One-Winged Angel (19:52).

Tetsuya Endo was given a big opportunity by having a main event singles match against Kenny Omega. Endo had the crowd support which made Kenny feel a little bitter. Despite pulling out all the stops, Endo was eventually defeated but Kenny had to pull out the One-Winged Angel to win. Kenny said he was surprised at just how good Endo was today and that Endo worked hard because it was Happy Motel Day. Endo thanked him and said he joined DDT wanting to be like Kota Ibushi but he thinks Kenny is the best wrestler in the company. Kenny told Endo he could become a future KO-D Openweight Champion.

Ultimate Superstars Action returned for a special match. Hiroshi Fukuda came out as his Mr. Perfect character and teamed with Hara Cena (HARASHIMA) to battle HHHH (Danshoku Dino) & Tsuyoso Michaels (Antonio Honda). HHHH & Michaels were accompanied by Choina (Seiya Morohashi) and she interfered several times to dish out some low blows. One of those low blows was given to Michaels for some reason and he had to be taken to the back. HHHH used a hammer to weaken his opponents and then gave Fukuda the Pedigree. All of a sudden “Real American” played over the speakers and out came Antonio Hogan! HHHH hit Hogan with the hammer and followed with the Pedigree but Hogan Hulked up. He fought back and gave HHHH the Leg Drop. Hara Cena followed up with the Attitude Adjustment and Fukuda brought the match to an end with the Perfect Plex.

Kazuaki Mihara made himself look like Shigehiro Irie when they teamed together. He had the matching gear and also the matching green mohawk. After the match Konosuke Takeshita told the audience that Mihara and TORU may become big stars someday.

For the opener a watermelon was placed in a neutral corner of the ring. Antonio Honda and Daisuke Sasaki had to wear bras and blindfolds in order to wrestle. The first person to either split the watermelon or strip off their opponent’s bra would win. Honda wandered out of the ring and into the audience while Sasaki grabbed Daisuke Kiso and took off his shirt, revealing Kiso was wearing a bra too. Honda found Shun Miyatake (Trainee) at ringside and also discovered that he was wearing a bra under his shirt. Both Honda and Sasaki gave up trying to strip each other and instead went searching for the watermelon. Sasaki thought he found it and performed an Elbow Drop, hitting nothing but the canvas. Honda then tripped over Sasaki and landed on the watermelon, smashing it to pieces. Honda celebrated by eating a piece while the rest was cleaned off the ring and thrown into a garbage bag.

*Shuten-dōji failed in V2. Happy Motel become the 11th KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions!

Happy Motel are the new KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions! The trio’s good fortunes since their formation continued when they defeated Shuten-dōji to win the belts. With this being his first championship in his career, Tetsuya Endo said he lost his championship virginity. No. 1 Contenders Team Dream Futures were at ringside to watch the title match but Antonio Honda had a different idea for his team’s first title defence. Happy Motel will face both Shuten-dōji and Drift in a 3 Way match for the title at Korakuen Hall on 20th July.

Isami Kodaka took Kota Ibushi’s place in the semi-main event, teaming with MIKAMI to face HARASHIMA & Akito. HARASHIMA pinned MIKAMI with the Somato but was reminded by Kodaka that in order to face him at Sumo Hall he has to beat Kenny Omega at Korakuen first. Kodaka also said he is confident HARASHIMA and Omega will have a great match together.

The despicable DJ Nira attacked Makoto Oishi with a pencil after the opening match, prompting Danshoku Dino to come to his friend’s rescue. Nira challenged Dino to a No DQ, No Pinfall, No Give Up, No Countout match that could only end when a wrestler was thrown over the top rope and out of the ring. The match took place later in the show and lasted over an hour. Dino and Nira brawled away from ringside with an injured Oishi chasing after them. Rather than wait for them to return, DDT decided to carry on with the show. Dino & Nira would reappear inbetween the remaining matches only to fight their way out of the arena again. Finally when the main event was done they fought back into the ring and Dino eventually threw Nira over the top rope to the floor for the victory.

Kota Ibushi was able to contribute to the show by being the special referee for a kickboxing match between Gota Ihashi and Michael Nakazawa. The match was part of Ibushi’s 10th Anniversary celebration and Ibushi revealed it was originally supposed to be Nakazawa Vs Yoshihiko. Nakazawa protested the match because he has no kickboxing experience and he had no shin guards either. Ibushi made some questionable calls over knockdowns and also allowing the two to fight outside the ring. Ihashi even put Nakazawa in a Boston Crab and Ibushi just asked if Nakazawa wanted to give up. Nakazawa had enough and in the fourth round removed his tights and gave Ibushi the Ultimate Venom Arm. While Nakazawa prepared to do the same to Ihashi, Ibushi recovered and put on a boxing glove. He swung at Nakazawa but Nakazawa ducked making Ihashi take the blow instead. Ibushi tried a High Kick but the same thing happened and Ihashi was down for the count. Ibushi then knocked out Nakazawa with a Sole Butt, counted both Nakazawa and Ihashi out and declared himself the winner. After the match Ibushi said he will try and return to action at Korakuen Hall and promises to survive the G1 Climax.
