4. Super TLC Match: Sanshiro Takagi & Jun Kasai Vs Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie Vs Daisuke Sasaki & Suguru Miytake Vs MIKAMI & Shuji Ishikawa
5. Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title – Battle Royal: Aja Kong (c) Vs Yasu Urano Vs Soma Takao Vs Tomomitsu Matsunaga Vs Gota Ihashi Vs Hoshitango Vs Shunma Katsumata Vs Saki Akai Vs Bernard Ackah Vs Yuto Aijima Vs DJ Nira Vs Makoto Oishi
6. DDT Extreme Title: Akito (c) Vs X
7. KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles: Gorgeous Matsuno, Brahman Shu & Brahman Kei Vs KUDO, Yukio Sakaguchi & Masa Takanashi
8. KO-D Tag Team Titles: Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo (c) Vs Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi
9. KO-D Openweight Title: HARASHIMA (c) Vs Kota Ibushi

Kota Ibushi is currently reeling from yesterday’s defeat to Shinsuke Nakamura in the Tokyo Dome. He’ll have another chance at claiming some gold back in DDT when he faces the most dominant KO-D Openweight Champion in the company’s history, HARASHIMA.

Happy Motels face their greatest challenge yet in the form of Big Japan’s literal strongest duo, Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi. The young champions have already gone through many of DDT’s regular teams but none of them are on the level of Strong BJ.

The KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles have gone through its most craziest matches ever since it went around the waists of Gorgeous Matsuno & the Brahman Brothers. Their title defences have turned into hardcore brawls with suitcases, bowling balls, a pig head and black ink all involved. So pretty much your regular Brahman Brothers match. Hardcore drinkers Shuten-dōji are the next team stepping into the ring with them.

The loser of the 25th January DDT Extreme Title match between Akito and Makoto Oishi will be in the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title Battle Royal. The winner will defend the Extreme Title against someone to be determined. Since most if not all of the active roster is booked already I think the challenger will come from outside of DDT. Maybe a Union guy now that I think about it.

Speaking of the Iron Man Title, Aja Kong now possesses the belt and has challenged all comers to try and take it off her. Among them is the previous champion Saki Akai who will surely love to get revenge for Kong spoiling her big moment. Bernard Ackah will also be there after the failed bodyguard and second Super Sasadango Machine admitted he wanted to do pro wrestling.

The Super TLC Match involves 10 Tables, 3 Ladders (1x3m high, 2x2m high) and 100 Chairs. Sanshiro Takagi & Jun Kasai reform their Crazy & President team to face members of Team Dream Futures, Golden☆Storm Riders and the veteran team pairing of MIKAMI & Shuji Ishikawa.

The teams led by Akebono and Yoshihiko have been chosen. Akebono has T2Hide members Toru Owashi & Kazuki Hirata on his side. This means we could see Akebono be forced to do the Magnum TOKYO dance with Hirata! Yoshihiko has recruited Antonio Honda and The Great Kojika. At 72 years old Kojika is still going at it in the ring.

Super Sasadango Machine faces a mystery opponent. Heck if I know who it is. What’s worse is Machine may not be able to figure out how to prepare for the match. How can he set up a PowerPoint presentation if he doesn’t know what he is up against?

Michael Nakazawa’s final match in DDT, at least for now, is against a fully recovered Danshoku Dino. Nakazawa is moving to Singapore to focus on his career as a fitness instructor. Dino is returning from a hernia.

harashima-irie

DDT ends 2014 with a sold out crowd at Korakuen Hall and a cleared path on the road to Saitama Super Arena next February. In the main event HARASHIMA put the KO-D Openweight Title on the line against Shigehiro Irie, the last member of Team Dream Futures to go through in his current title reign. Irie was fueled by his desire to get revenge for his friends but as always HARASHIMA’s training meant the champion came out on top. After the match Irie still wanted HARASHIMA to apologise to Keisuke Ishii & Soma Takao but they pulled him away from the ring. HARASHIMA described Irie as a dangerous opponent and he was so strong that it was almost cheating. But he was still better. Kota Ibushi then entered the ring and faced off with HARASHIMA. Ibushi simply said “It’s been a long time. Saitama Super Arena. Thank you.”

motel-beats-shuten

Happy Motel is still accepting vacancies. Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo scored their 4th successful defence of the KO-D Tag Team Titles against Shuten-dōji. The champs were able to get rid of KUDO and isolate Yukio Sakaguchi inside the ring. A short range Lariat from Takeshita, the Sky Twister Press from Endo and then a German Suplex from Takeshita was enough to put away Sakaguchi. Takeshita thanked Shuten-dōji after the match for their challenge. He and Endo are committed to be the future of DDT. Amon Tsurumi then approached the champs to give them a message. He has a world class tag team to challenge them at Saitama Super Arena… Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi! Endo said he will be ready to fight them and Takeshita said he wants to German Suplex Sekimoto!

nakazawa-countdown

Hikaru Sato wrestled in DDT again for the first time in 11 months as part of the finale of Michael Nakazawa’s farewell series. Unfortunately the match only lasted 30 seconds. Nakazawa took the quick loss in his stride and posed for a commemorative photo with the other wrestlers who just wanted to get the entire thing over with. Nakazawa gave a goodbye speech while the other wrestlers ignored him and walked to the back. Nakazawa then stopped himself and said he didn’t want to go out this way. This was not just Nakazawa’s farewell, it was the Nuru Nuru Brothers, Belt Hunter x Hunter and Shit Heart ♥ Foundation reuniting for one last time! “Please cooperate in making my memories! Ring the bell!” The match restarted and Nakazawa was attacked by Sato and Masa Takanashi, who were yelling “Thank you for the memories!” as they stomped him. Tomomitsu Matsunaga rallied the fans behind Nakazawa. Unfortunately in the end Nakazawa was put away by Sato’s Cross Armbreaker submission. After the match Sato told Nakazawa he hopes if Nakazawa ever comes back from Singapore he will have transformed into a new wrestler.

ibushi-chinsuke

The Golden☆Storm Riders audition reached its conclusion as four men had to battle Kota Ibushi & Daisuke Sasaki in order to gain acceptance into the stable. Shunma Katsumata was the first eliminated when Sasaki tapped him out. The most notable contestant was Chinsuke Nakamura, a Shinsuke Nakamura impersonator. Ibushi and Chinsuke went at it in a preview of Ibushi’s upcoming Tokyo Dome match with the real Nakamura. Ibushi eliminated Chinsuke when he countered the Boma Ye into a gentle Last Ride Power Bomb. Suguru Miyatake and former member Gota Ihashi were left and fought their hearts out until Ibushi pinned Miyatake and called an end to the audition. Even though Ihashi was the sole survivor, Miyatake was picked as the winner! Ibushi then admitted he made up his mind before the audition even begun and it didn’t even make sense for the audition to happen in the first place! Ihashi complained about the decision but Ibushi knocked him out. Miyatake said he will work hard to live up to the stable’s name. The new Golden☆Storm Riders will challenge for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles on 3rd January.

yoshihiko-lilico

Sanshiro Takagi made it his duty to return the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title to DDT from the popstar LiLiCo. Problem is she has Bernard Ackah as her bodyguard and he was instructed to bash anyone who got in her way. LiLiCo also got involved in the match when she could. But Takagi played dirty and pulled down Ackah’s shorts to distract him. He then rolled him over with La Magistral Cradle for the victory. LiLiCo tried to escape with the Iron Man Title but she was cut off at every corner by different wrestlers and carried back to the ring. Takagi asked for the belt once more but LiLiCo then attacked him with it! She yelled that she will be the eternal champion but then there was a blackout. When the lights came on Yoshihiko was perched on the top turnbuckle behind her! When she turned around Yoshihiko dove onto her and pinned her to win the title back for DDT! LiLiCo fled in a panic while Ackah apologised to her over and over. Ackah also said he wanted another match with Takagi. He underestimated him and said Takagi fought strong rather than fought dirty. He now understands that he must study more about wrestling to combat Takagi’s style.

oishi-submits-akito

Makoto Oishi scored a big victory over Akito, making the DDT Extreme Champion tap out. Obviously this makes Oishi the next challenger for the title. He is fine wrestling Akito in any match Akito can think of, especially if it involves idols.

magnum-honda

Once again Kazuki Hirata’s Magnum mask went missing before his match. This time it was Antonio Honda who stole it and did the Magnum TOKYO entrance to make Hirata jealous.

super-tlc

Crazy & President will reunite for “SAITAMA SUPER DDT 2015” to take part in a Super TLC Match! Sanshiro Takagi & Jun Kasai will face two mystery wrestlers in a match that involves 10 Tables, 3 Ladders and 100 Chairs!

yoshihiko-ringdream

Three more DDT wrestlers will turn into gender-swapped characters for the Ring☆Dream web browser game. The new additions are HARASHIMA, Yukio Sakaguchi and Yoshihiko. HARASHIMA and Sakaguchi were both impressed with their characters. Sakaguchi said his one is a good woman while HARASHIMA called his character healthy looking. Yoshihiko’s character is described as a beautiful girl but as you can see above, it’s pretty creepy.

*V6 for HARASHIMA.

harashima-takao

Soma Takao came close but not close enough to take the KO-D Openweight Title away from HARASHIMA. After winning a Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament to become the No. 1 Contender, Takao had trouble in the following weeks proving that he deserved the title shot. However he had full support from the fans when he was showered in red tape during his ring entrance. Unfortunately for him, HARASHIMA was just too good and he put away the plucky challenger with the Somato. HARASHIMA told Takao that it was luck that got him here but he was still talented and strong. But HARASHIMA was stronger. The champion was suddenly interrupted by Shigehiro Irie who came to his friend’s aid. Irie told HARASHIMA he should be ashamed and that he hated seeing HARASHIMA beat his friends Takao and Keisuke Ishii. So Irie will challenge for the title next! Irie said he loves Takao and Ishii. He will fight for the three of them. HARASHIMA said he loves things too, like Akito and Yasu Urano. He was left confused when the audience laughed. The match was made for DDT’s return to Korakuen Hall on 23rd December.

motel-oishi-asahi

Despite all of the hype and building up of Shiori Asahi as Makoto Oishi’s surprise tag team partner, the two of them just couldn’t win the KO-D Tag Team Titles from Happy Motel. The champions were able to avoid the Cactus Flower and Tetsuya Endo pinned Oishi with the Sky Twister Press. Amon Tsurumi said Happy Motel’s next defence will be against the current strongest challengers in DDT. Out came KUDO & Yukio Sakaguchi. KUDO told the champs he will snatch the future away from them. Endo told KUDO they’re no longer the future, they are the now of DDT!

irie-sasaki

Yukinori Matsui got involved with the Shigehiro Irie Vs Daisuke Sasaki match he officiated. At one point he Suplexed Sasaki into Irie! Later on Irie pinned Sasaki with the Beast Bomber.

lilico-ackah-hirata

LiLiCo appeared in DDT for the first time since winning the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title at “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2014”. The singer explained that ever since she won the title she has been scared of being attacked by someone looking to take the belt away from her. So she hired martial artist Bernard Ackah to be her bodyguard. Ackah was in the ring with her wearing a suit and boxing gloves. Kazuki Hirata attempted a sneak attack but was easily dispatched of by Ackah. Sanshiro Takagi picked up an unconscious Hirata and used him like a puppet. “Hirata” challenged Ackah to a match at Kasukabe Hall on 13th December. LiLiCo accepted and said with Ackah as her bodyguard, she will be an eternal champion!

Two matches were announced for “SAITAMA SUPER DDT 2015” next February. Danshoku Dino will take on Michael Nakazawa with special guest singer Shigeru Matsuzaki in Nakazawa’s corner. There will also be a 6-Man Tag Team match between Akebono Army and Yoshihiko Army. Yes, Akebono and Yoshihiko will wrestle each other in Saitama Super Arena! Their partners are to be announced. Don’t worry, Shiroi Asahi will not be one of them.

matsuno-brahmans

The clump of hot potatoes that are the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles switched hands again. T2Hide were already at a disadvantage when Sanshiro Takagi was forced to compete with a fractured right heel. But they just weren’t prepared for the weird combination of Gorgeous Matsuno and the Brahman Brothers. A suit case, bowling ball and stop sign were all used in the match by the Brahmans as well as their blinding black mist. The match fell down to Kazuki Hirata and Gorgeous Matsuno and Matsuno surprisingly scored the pin after they traded nearfalls. A furious Hirata demanded a rematch against the “old man” but he was dragged away by Takagi and Toru Owashi. Matsuno said that today was the result of all the hard work he put in the last three years of his life.

wella-match

Both Kota Ibushi and Michael Nakazawa worked double duty today. First they wrestled their matches in DDT. Nakazawa wrestled in the opening 8-Man Tag Match while Ibushi was part something a little bit different. The show today was sponsored by Wella Professionals hair and beauty products. Ibushi & Shunma Katsumata took on Yasu Urano & Akito and all four were given hair makeovers before the match. Their stylists appeared at ringside to manage and maintain the hairstyles whenever somebody tagged out. Akito and Urano won the match and were given a year’s supply of Wella hair products as a prize. Ibushi later announced that with Kenny Omega moving to New Japan, the Golden☆Storm Riders are now looking for a new member and will hold auditions.

When that was done Ibushi and Nakazawa travelled over to Sumo Hall where they had a shoot boxing exhibition bout against each other. The bout more resembled a pro wrestling match as the two Suplexed and Lariated each other. Ibushi even did a Moonsault out of the ring and then won by knockout with a Power Bomb.

matsunaga-takanashi

Throughout 2014 Tomomitsu Matsunaga was showing signs of progress. He’s been wrestling in DDT for 7 years and despite having a few tag team championships to his name he’s been mostly a comedy wrestler. Then earlier this year he defeated Kenny Omega in the King of DDT 1st Round. He hasn’t been able to repeat that performance since then but he is getting close after becoming the No. 1 Contender for the DDT Extreme Title. Matsunaga won a 3 Way Match against Masa Takanashi and Keisuke Ishii when he countered Takanashi’s Takatonic into a pinning cradle. Matsunaga is looking forward to finally challenging for a singles title but it is for a belt that Akito currently holds with a tight grip. The title match will happen at Kasukabe Hall on 12th December.

dna-darkmatch

Members of the DNA rookie class competed in the dark match. It’s become quite clear that the former sumo wrestler Kazusada Higuchi is the top prospect after he won the match for his team. He is currently undefeated in his first three matches.

akai-yoshiko

The current World of Stardom Champion, Yoshiko confronted Saki Akai at the merchandise stand before the show began. Yoshiko said she needs a challenger when Stardom runs Korakuen on 23rd December and Akai is who she wants to fight. Akai was taken aback but eventually accepted the challenge. A grumpy Yoshiko also attacked Amon Tsurumi over how he has handled DDT’s relationship with Stardom.

Despite being out of action to recover from a fracture right heel, Sanshiro Takagi is being forced to defend the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles along with Toru Owashi & Kazuki Hirata. Probably not the best timing to do this given the big story in wrestling this week. But it will most likely be a comedy match so he should be ok.

6. DDT Extreme Title: Danshoku Dino (c) defeated Zeus with a 3 Count Kiss (9:32).
*V2 for Danshoku Dino.
7. Kota Ibushi 10th Anniversary Debut Match: Kota Ibushi & Kenny Omega defeated Michael Nakazawa & Yoshihiko when Ibushi pinned Nakazawa with the PK Heart (17:59).
8. KO-D Openweight Title: HARASHIMA (c) defeated Keisuke Ishii with the Somato (20:31).
*V4 for HARASHIMA.

HARASHIMA’s dominance continues. The KO-D Openweight Champion defeated Keisuke Ishii in Osaka to mark his 4th successful defence of the belt (and his 10th in the space of a year). Ishii got his title shot after winning a young wrestlers tournament intended to promote new blood for the title chase. HARASHIMA admitted he did not expect Ishii to have improved to the level he was but HARASHIMA was still stronger. The champ’s next defence will be in Korakuen Hall on 26th October against the runner up of the DDT Dramatic General Election. HARASHIMA doesn’t mind who it is as long as he finishes the election in first place. If he finishes second he gets to choose his challenger.

The last match in Kota Ibushi’s 10th anniversary celebration finally took place. Ibushi teamed with Kenny Omega to take on Michael Nakazawa and Yoshihiko who transformed into Ibushihiko for the occasion. Nakazawa congratulated Ibushi on his 10 years in wrestling but pointed out that he’s been through so many injuries that he’s really only been wrestling for around 8 years. Nakazawa then said Ibushihiko is the one who should have the double contract with DDT and New Japan. During the match, Ibushihiko was thrown on top of a nearby basketball hoop by Omega.

Danshoku Dino Vs Zeus for the DDT Extreme Title was fought in a Kiss Pin Match where a pin or submission would only count if the wrestlers were kissing each other as it happened. Surprisingly Zeus was not fazed at all when the rules were explained to him. Dino needed all the help he could get from Makoto Oishi and Shunma Katsumata. His two cornermen interfered in the match but were both overpowered by Zeus. The challenger even threatened to kiss the referee! Sino then summoned Shun Miyatake (Trainee) to help him and eventually the distractions were enough for Dino to pin Zeus with a kiss. After the match Zeus linked arms with Yukinori Matsui and said “a nice couple is born in Osaka!”

Tetsuya Endo scored the upset pin on KUDO to win himself and Konosuke Takeshita a KO-D Tag Team Title shot on 28th September. Later in the show Takeshita & Endo confronted the Golden Lovers to confirm the match. Endo spoke about his match with Kenny Omega during Beer Garden Week and also the 30 minute draw between both teams that took place back in January. Omeg said the Golden Lovers would have won in the 31st minute if the match continued. He also said if Endo scored 110 points with his best effort then he would need to score more than 150 points to succeed. He then asked Tsurumi to give the title match a 60 minute time limit to make sure another draw won’t happen.

Kazuki Hirata appealed for T2Hide to get a KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Title shot after they won the opening match. Amon Tsurumi said he would positively consider it.

Next year’s big show in Saitama Super Arena will be called “SAITAMA SUPER DDT 2015”.

ddt-peterpan-2014

DDT earned a Super No Vacancy Full House crowd at Sumo Hall for this year’s big “PETER PAN” show. The show lasted just under 5 hours with eleven matches in total. DDT announced they will return to Sumo Hall on 23rd August 2015.

somatolol

The big main event was a 3 Way Elimination match for the KO-D Openweight Championship. HARASHIMA pinned both Kenny Omega and Isami Kodaka to successfully defend the title. The first elimination happened when Kodaka countered Omega’s One-Winged Angel into a Victory Roll. HARASHIMA stopped the pin by hitting the Somato on Kodaka, then he hit Omega with the Somato for the pin. Kodaka used the Somato against HARASHIMA for a close nearfall but the champion fired back with a Vertical Drop Brainbuster and the Swan Dive Somato to put him away. HARASHIMA complimented his opponents for their strong performances but considered himself the strongest for winning. He now looks forward to his next challenger, the winner of the young generation tournament taking place later this month. The show ended with the roster celebrating as foam rained down onto the ring.

tanahashi-beats-takeshita

Two years ago Konosuke Takeshita had his debut match in Sumo Hall against El Generico. Last year Takeshita celebrated his first year in the business by facing Katsuhiko Nakajima. This year he was graced with the presence of New Japan star Hiroshi Tanahashi for the semi-main event. Takeshita took a page out of Generico’s book and tried to hit the Brainbustaaaaahhhhh!!!!! But Tanahashi was able to avoid it and eventually hit the High Fly Flow for the victory.

ibushi-diveson-kondo

The return of Kota Ibushi saw him in the ring with Shuji Kondo for the first time since the “ALL TOGETHER” charity show from 2011. Kondo hit the King Kong Lariat several times until Ibushi unleashed a few of his own. Ibushi finally won with the Phoenix Splash and the two hugged each other after the match. In the post-match interview Kondo said Ibushi should move up to Heavyweight class. Ibushi said he wants to evolve and he will practice more and more. He called this a successful comeback.

ddt-street-fight

The craziest specatacle of the day was the Tag Team Street Fight between Sanshiro Takagi & Jun Kasai against the combination of hybrid fighter and pervert, Minoru Suzuki & Michael Nakazawa. A castle of chairs was set up inside the ring even though the match began outside the arena. The fight quickly dragged itself into a bathroom before finally making its way towards ringside. Suzuki attacked Takagi with a giant poster and they brawled amongst the crowd. They reappeared cycling down to the ring on Takagi’s custom battle cycle. Takagi would eventually crash into the chair castle. Suzuki’s attempt to use the bicycle backfired when he accidentaly ran over Nakazawa. Another attempt at teamwork backfired when Nakazawa accidentely gave Suzuki the Ultimate Venom Arm. Suzuki no sold it and he gave his partner the Gotch-Style Piledriver. Kasai then hit the Pearl Harbour Splash from the top of a ladder onto Nakazawa.

DDT announced they will be making their own movie called Wrestling Cannonball. Starring a mixture of DDT wrestlers and being directed by Muscle Sakai, the movie is set for release next February. Sakai has asked Suzuki and Kasai to feature in the film.

i-dont-know

The DDT Extreme Title match was probably the most bizarre thing to ever happen in Sumo Hall and with six DDT shows at the arena in the bag that’s saying something. The challenger Muscle Sakai produced a Powerpoint presentation to explain how the match was set up. For some reason the main rule was if the match lasted 10 minutes then comedy actor Ryota Yamazato, who was brought in as a guest, would be blown up with no questions asked. Not trusting Danshoku Dino to win in under 10 minutes, Yamazato attacked him backstage and took his place in the match, even stealing Dino’s wrestling gear to wear. The match began but instead of wrestling, Sakai and Yamazato took part in a quiz instead until Sakai attacked the actor. Dino came to the rescue and the advertised match finally went ahead. But time ran out and security dragged Yamazato out of the arena to face his destiny. Dino and Sakai continued to fight as time slowed down and we got to hear their inner monologues. That ended when Dino pinned Sakai with a School Boy. Meanwhile outside the building the security blew up Yamazato with Anus Dynamite and a tribute for him appeared on the screen. Thus ends one of the weirdest paragraphs I have ever typed out.

kod6-drift

The streak continues! Soma Takao is still undefeated in “PETER PAN” after he and his Team Dream Futures partners won the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles. Takao also changed his colours from red to blue so he, Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie would be more colour coordinated with the Powerpuff Girls. After losing the All Asia Tag Team Titles on Saturday, Ishii & Irie quickly bounced back with this title win. Former champions Shuten-dōji demanded lots and lots of alcohol to get over their title loss.

cute-connection

The Cute Connection of Saki Akai, Makoto Oishi & Ladybeard defeated the random team of Aja Kong, Antonio Honda & Hiroshi Fukuda. After the match Oishi celebrated with the Up Up Girls, who performed their song “Chopper☆Chopper”. They also shot t-shirts into the crowd.

lilico-pins-matsuno

There were three Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title changes in the Battle Royal. The champion Akihiro was in the ring with Yoshihiko and together they were almost unstoppable. DJ Nira brought their reign of terror to an end and pinned Akihiro to win the belt. Nira went on to the final two but in the end fell to Gorgeous Matsuno. Singer LiLiCo awarded Matsuno the belt after the match but Nira suddenly knocked out the new champ with a Rocket Punch before fainting. Encouraged by the audience chanting her name, LiLiCo pinned Matsuno to become the new champion.

mikami-450

The show opened properly with GENTARO’s first match in DDT in over two years. He and MIKAMI triumphed over Yasu Urano & Akito. MIKAMI thanked GENTARO for giving him motivation to continue wrestling.

hoshitango-midnight-buenos-aires

DDT beat Union in an 8-Man Tag Team bout presented as one of the dark matches held before the show.

miyu-yamashita-crash-rabbit-heat

Tokyo Women’s Wrestling presented the first match of the day. Miyu Yamashita pinned Erin with the Crash Rabbit Heat to win the match for her team. While they were happy to perform in the dark match, all of the girls involved hoped they will grow enough to perform on the main card at next year’s Sumo Hall show.

Here we are again back at Sumo Hall for another “RYOGOKU PETER PAN”. Last year DDT ran two shows in the building over two days. This year they are back to doing just one but they also now have a date inside a modified Saitama Super Arena to look forward to in February. This Sunday’s show is already reported to be sold out and no walk up tickets will be available on the day. The show will air on Samurai TV! at 10pm local time that night. Highlights this year include a 3 Way main event, puroresu’s biggest active superstar facing a rookie phenom, the return of the Golden Star and the possibility of seeing the most serious wrestler this side of Lance Storm fighting inside a Ryogoku restroom.

0. Dark Match – DDT Vs Union: Daichi Kazato, SAGAT, Mitomi Masayuki & Tomoya Kawamura Vs Hoshitango, Rion Mizuki, Gota Ihashi & Shunma Katsumata

The first dark match is a DDT Vs Union affair with a mixture of low carders, part timers and rookies involved.

0. Dark Match – Tokyo Women’s Wrestling Offer Match: Miyu Yamashita, Chikage Kiba & KANNA Vs Shoko Nakajima, Yuka Sakazaki & Erin

After a stalled beginning in 2012 and some baby steps taken in 2013, Tokyo Women’s Wrestling became a lot more active in 2014. With a roster of nine women all in training they now regularly hold shows in small idol stages around Tokyo. Six of the girls get to perform inside Sumo Hall for a dark match. Out of the six, Miyu Yamashita and Chikage Kiba are the standouts. The queen bee of the promotion Nonoko will be part of the Battle Royal on the main card.

akito-urano-gentaro-mikami

1. Yasu Urano & Akito Vs MIKAMI & GENTARO

The show opens properly with two members of Smile Squash facing against two DDT veterans. Akito levelled up a lot this year by getting a KO-D Openweight Title shot in April and establishing the Triangle Scorpion has his submission finisher of choice. Yasu Urano also had a KO-D Title match (the same day as Akito thanks to a Right To Challenge Contract) and held the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title a bunch of times. MIKAMI had a bad year and seems to be in the twilight years of his career. His recent poor form brought in GENTARO to slap some enthusiasm into him. GENTARO returned to the ring this year after health problems took him out of action for 21 months. Depsite being a shell of his former self, GENTARO still wrestles for the love of it and wants MIKAMI to have the same attitude.

ironman-peterpan2014

2. Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title – Battle Royal: Akihiro (c) Vs Daisuke Sasaki Vs Tomomitsu Matsunaga Vs Kazuki Hirata Vs Tetsuya Endo Vs Gorgeous Matsuno Vs Toru Owashi Vs DJ Nira Vs Shiro Koshinaka Vs Nonoko Vs Ai Shimizu Vs FUMA Vs Kizaemon Saiga Vs Yoshihiko

The Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title was almost put out to pasture this year when it approached a major milestone. Sanshiro Takagi became the 999th champion but out of greed wanted to retire the championship before it could crown a 1,000th champion. The creator of the championship Poison Sawada returned to DDT and did everything he could to keep the belt active and prevent Takagi from sealing it away. Everything from convincing him that the belt was actually a map for secret Aztec treasure to controlling other wrestlers with S-Cells to fight on his behalf. The conflict finally ended when the actual title belt pinned Takagi and became the 1,000th champion. Since then it went around Jun Akiyama’s waist and enjoyed a brief trip to All Japan before winding up in possession of Akihiro, another blow up doll. Now the belt will be up for grabs in a Battle Royal with Shiro Koshinaka and Kizaemon Saiga among the guest entries. What will happen if Akihiro and Yoshihiko are the only two left in the ring? Reality might glitch out the same way a Nintendo 64 wrestling game does when you play an AKI Man Vs THQ Man match.

oishi-ladybeard-akai-honda-kong-fukuda

3. Saki Akai, Makoto Oishi & Ladybeard Vs Aja Kong, Antonio Honda & Hiroshi Fukuda

This is an odd mix of personalities. Saki Akai made her pro wrestling debut at last year’s “RYOGOKU PETER PAN” and has made several appearances for DDT since then, wearing as much red as Eva Marie. Makoto Oishi took part in a bunch of Idol Lumberjack Death Matches just so he could hang out with his favourite popstars. Ladybeard is a cross dressing gaijin heavy metal singer and part time wrestler who is currently dominating Union’s women’s division. Those three have bonded over how cute they are and they’re calling themselves the Cute Connection. Then on the other team you have joshi monster Aja Kong, Happy Motel founder Antonio Honda and the most patriotic American in Japan Hiroshi Fukuda.

4. Street Wrestling Match: Sanshiro Takagi & Jun Kasai Vs Minoru Suzuki & Michael Nakazawa

So some of you may have been watching the G1 Climax this year and thought “Gee, that Minoru Suzuki fella is pretty great. I wonder what he will be up to after this?” Well he’s going to be brawling around Sumo Hall with Sanshiro Takagi, Jun Kasai and Michael Nakazawa, that’s what he is up to next. In a parody of John Cena Vs The Rock, DDT booked Takagi Vs Suzuki as their Once In A Lifetime match two years ago. The rivalry came back to life at the beginning of this year when Nakazawa used Suzuki as his secret weapon to beat Takagi in a Weapons Rumble match. Sensing the advantages of staying with Suzuki and being more desperate for attention than an indie wrestler with a Twitter account, Nakazawa asked to be coached by him so he could become a hybrid fighter. It took a couple of months but Suzuki finally agreed and put Nakazawa through a hellish training program. Nakazawa came out of it learning the Hybrid Venom Arm Sleeper and has been winning matches with the move left, right and centre since then. Takagi needed to find someone to team with and found just the man crazy enough to fight Suzuki, Jun Kasai! Not only that but they constructed a special combat bicycle to use against the hybrid fighters. With the teams set, DDT decided to bump up the annual Street Wrestling dark match into the main card for such a heated rivalry.

5. KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles: KUDO, Yukio Sakaguchi & Masa Takanashi (c) Vs Keisuke Ishii, Shigehiro Irie & Soma Takao

If it wasn’t for the existence of the Iron Man Title, then the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles would be known as the hot potato of DDT. Ever since its creation in 2013 no team has been able to defend the belt more than twice. Shuten-dōji are the current holders, they are a trio who formed over their shared love of alcohol. Their leader KUDO had mixed fortunes during the Spring, winning the KO-D Title in March only to lose it one month later. Yukio Sakaguchi is one of the most dangerous fighters in the roster due to his MMA background. His presence is always a little jarring in DDT but he seems to fit in with the nonsense that goes on around him. Rounding out the team is Masa Takanashi, the little guy with a high tolerance for liquor. Challenging them for the belts is Team Dream Futures. Formed as a united attempt to take over DDT’s main event scene Keisuke Ishii, Shigehiro Irie & Soma Takao are the most tightly knit unit in the company. Irie in particular has seen a lot of success, being a former KO-D Champion and one half of last year’s Ryogoku main event. Also Irie and Ishii held the All Asia Tag Team Titles in All Japan, only losing them today as I type this (bloody wonderful timing there). Meanwhile Soma Takao is doing… I don’t know. He takes a back seat to Ishii & Irie’s plans. With that being said, Takao is currently undefeated at “PETER PAN” shows. Ever since his debut match at the very first “PETER PAN” show in 2009, Takao has had a 5-0 record at DDT’s biggest show of the year (6-0 if you include both of last year’s Sumo Hall shows, Day 1 was not a “PETER PAN” show). While this isn’t on the level of the the most important streak in wrestling today (*cough*R.D. Evans*cough*), it is still a pretty impressive record. He’s probably going to get pinned now that I said it.

sakai-dino

6. DDT Extreme Title – Important Something Timed Blast Death Match: Danshoku Dino (c) Vs Muscle Sakai

The DDT Extreme Title has been associated with Danshoku Dino for a lot of its 8 year existence. Dino is a seven time champion and has come up with plenty of bizarre match stipulations in the past. Dino was given the opportunity to choose his challenger for DDT’s biggest show of the year. He wanted a match with a close friend and one of DDT’s more memorable wrestlers, Muscle Sakai. Despite being retired, Sakai reappeared on the scene last year under the Super Sasadango Machine gimmick. Even when his cover was blown he kept wrestling under the mask. This year he became an expert in using Powerpoint presentations and used his knowledge to create the Lehman Shock, a Wrist Clutch Impaler DDT that depletes 35% of a wrestler’s health points. If used three times in a match it guarantees victory (unless it’s used against HARASHIMA who always wrestles with 110% HP). Now back as himself, Sakai has a powerful move in his arsenal. He also had sex with a cross dresser to prepare for Dino’s hyper homosexual offence. Dino decided that he and Sakai will fight in an Important Something Blast Death Match. A blast of some sort will happen at ringside after the 10 minute mark. Dino admits he was lazy with coming up with the idea. However he and Sakai demand that every person who criticises their idea should apologise to Atsushi Onita and Terry Funk for showing disrespect.

ibushi-peterpan2014

7. Special Single Match: Kota Ibushi Vs Shuji Kondo

A poorly timed concussion prevented Kota Ibushi from being involved in both this year’s G1 Climax and from celebrating his tenth year in pro wrestling. With Sumo Hall confirmed as the location for his return match, Ibushi picked Shuji Kondo from Wrestle-1 to be his opponent. The two competed together years ago in El Dorado and dragondoor. Ibushi looks up to Kondo and could not be happier to get the match against him. Ibushi confirms that he was given the all clear and isn’t anxious at all to return to the ring.

takeshita-peterpan2014

8. Special Single Match: Konosuke Takeshita Vs Hiroshi Tanahashi

The Present versus the Future. This is DDT’s big crossover match for the year as their rookie phenomenon Konosuke Takeshita takes on New Japan’s biggest star Hiroshi Tanahashi. Takeshita’s year saw him form a team with Tetsuya Endo and wrestle the Golden Lovers to a 30 minute draw. They also became allies with Antonio Honda and formed a unit called Happy Motel. When this match was announced Takeshita said he wasn’t impressed with Tanahashi’s moniker of being a once in a century talent. Why? Because Takeshita is a one in 200 million million years (including Jurassic era) talent! Oddly enough, Takeshita did not watch any of Tanahashi’s matches during the G1. He did not dare watch a second so he could experience his matches for himself when they both get in the ring.

omega-harashima-kodaka

9. KO-D Openweight Title – 3 Way Match: HARASHIMA (c) Vs Kenny Omega Vs Isami Kodaka

For the first time a 3 Way match main events DDT’s biggest show of the year. HARASHIMA has been DDT’s John Cena this year, holding the KO-D Openweight Title for most of the last twelve months. He’s been happy to wrestle any challenger and in the end overcame every obstacle in his way with the Somato. When the Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere contracts came into play HARASHIMA defended the belt against all comers. He even had two successful defences back to back on the same day. When Union’s Isami Kodaka was the dark horse winner of the King Of DDT tournament, everyone expected him and HARASHIMA to be the Sumo Hall main event. Then Kenny Omega came in with the final Right To Challenge Contract and fought HARASHIMA to a Double KO stalemate. With two viable contenders available DDT decided to have both of them face the champion at Sumo Hall. Will HARASHIMA win again? Will Kenny climb back to the top of the DDT mountain? Or will Isami bring DDT’s biggest prize back to Union?

5. KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles – 3 Way Match: KUDO, Yukio Sakaguchi & Masa Takanashi defeated Antonio Honda, Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo (c) and Keisuke Ishii, Shigehiro Irie & Soma Takao when Takanashi pinned Endo with the Takatonic (11:30).

6. KO-D Openweight Title: HARASHIMA (c) Vs Kenny Omega ended in a Double Knockout (19:27).
*V2 for HARASHIMA. Kenny Omega cashed in his Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract.

In one month’s time DDT returns to Sumo Hall for its biggest show of the year but after today’s show the main event has been altered. Kenny Omega cashed in his Right To Challenge Contract today and faced HARASHIMA for the KO-D Championship. Sumo Hall main eventer Isami Kodaka was at the timekeeper’s table to see who he will soon fight for the title. Both champion and challenger destroyed each other and at one point HARASHIMA delivered the Reverse Frankensteiner from the apron to the floor! Omega later came close to victory with the Croyt’s Wrath. The two then traded Somatos and Jumping Knee Strikes until they were both knocked out. Yukinori Matsui counted both of them out and ruled the match a draw.

harashima-kenny-ko

The draw officially counts as a successful defence for HARASHIMA and Amon Tsurumi declared the Sumo Hall main event will be HARASHIMA Vs Isama Kodaka for the KO-D Title. However, HARASHIMA wasn’t satisfied with the result and wanted another match with Kenny. Kodaka stepped in and said he wanted to face both HARASHIMA and Omega. Everybody came to the conclusion that the Sumo Hall main event will now be a 3 Way match for the title. HARASHIMA Vs Isami Kodaka Vs Kenny Omega!

ddt-roadtoryogoku

At the end of the show Sanshiro Takagi invited the entire roster into the ring and announced tickets for Sumo Hall were selling out. Takagi got everybody in the ring to chant “Sell! Sell! Sell!” The fans joined in but Takagi interrupted them and said they should be chanting “Buy! Buy! Buy!”

trios3way

Happy Motel’s reign as KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions was short lived, which is a running theme for this title’s entire existence. The belts were on the line in a 3 Way Trios match with no tag rules in effect. Happy Motel, Team Dream Futures and Shuten-dōji went at it until Masa Takanashi countered Tetsuya Endo’s Torture Bomb into the Takatonic for the three count. Since Drift were not involved with the result, Tsurumi decided that they will get the next title shot at Sumo Hall.

sakai-dino

Before Match #4 began, Danshoku Dino asked if he was going to defend the DDT Extreme Title at Sumo Hall. He got no answer and treated today’s 8-Man Tag bout as a throwaway match. Super Sasadango Machine got the pin and was happy to challenge Dino to a title match. He set up a powerpoint presentation to explain his challenge but Dino interrupted and said he will not fight him. Instead he wants to fight Muscle Sakai! Amon Tsurumi told Dino that Sakai is retired and currently working at his family’s business in Niigata. Machine left the ring and Sakai’s music suddenly played over the speakers. Suddenly Sakai appeared! He was crying with joy and said that even though he retired, he secretly visited Korakuen Hall in disguise every month to watch DDT. He accepted Dino’s challenge and it was made official by Tsurumi.

ddt-amigos

Since Kota Ibushi’s 10th Anniversary Match no longer involved Kota Ibushi, the 6-Man Tag Team bout was changed into a Lucha Libre Rules match. Taiji Ishimori got into the spirit of things with Sanshiro Takagi & Toru Owashi. Ishimori afterwards said he enjoyed wrestling with them.

mikami-gentaro

GENTARO was very disappointed by MIKAMI for tapping out to a Headlock in their tag team match. He questioned if MIKAMI was not motivated anymore and was insulted because he himself went through a lot in order to wrestle again. Even if GENTARO is not the wrestler he used to be he still wrestles because it makes him happy. Yasu Urano told GENTARO to ignore MIKAMI. He said they won the match and shouldn’t have to worry about MIKAMI’s decline. GENTARO slapped Urano and said he isn’t like MIKAMI. “MIKAMI is a guy, dude!” As a result of this, GENTARO & MIKAMI will face Yasu Urano & Akito at Sumo Hall.

There were some announcements regarding DDT’s plans for the near future. The big one of course was their goal of going to the Saitama Super Arena next year. Sanshiro Takagi announced that DDT will be in the Saitama Super Arena Community Arena on 15th February, 2015. The Community Arena is a smaller section within the Super Arena territory but Takagi believes it is big enough to draw 5,000 fans. He also wants DDT to hold two major shows every year. The plan is for February and August to be when the major shows will take place.

The annual DDT48 General Election will now be replaced with a new election based on the different stables in DDT. For now it is called the DDT Dramatic General Election. It will take place from 31st August to 28th September.

Kota Ibushi apologised for being unable to compete on the show. He promised to be crazier than ever when he returns to “perfect condition”. He will have a singles match at Sumo Hall but his opponent is currently to be decided.

KUDO, Danshoku Dino and DJ Nira are the latest DDT wrestlers to get gender swapped characters for the Ring☆Dream online card game. DDT will also be collaborating with the Powerpuff Girls TV show for a t-shirt that will be available at Sumo Hall.

*Kenny Omega will cash in his Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract.

Kenny Omega currently holds the final Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract and he will cash it in on 20th July. Omega sees this as his last chance to get into the main event of this year’s Sumo Hall show as the KO-D Openweight Champion (I assume the contract cannot be used to insert the holder into another title match to turn it into a Triple Threat).

All that has been said about Kota Ibushi’s 10th Anniversary match is it will be a match he wants to do.

*It just hit me that DDT has now done enough Sumo Hall shows to have traditions for them.
