Ryota Nakatsu beats FUMA by the skin of his teeth to retain the Union MAX Title. Nakatsu thanked FUMA for the challenge and FUMA admitted the champion’s judo was stronger than his own kung fu. Daiki Shimomura walked out and reminded Nakatsu he beat him in the first round of last year’s Heaven Summit tournament. It was in a 2 Count match and even so, Tsukamoto claims he kicked out at 1.9. Shimomura said he can beat him with a three count so he challenged him to a title match next month.

Speed Of Sounds praised their opponents for becoming a stronger tag team, one that could beat them the next time they wrestle each other. Takato Nakano took their word and demanded a rematch with the IRON FIST Tag Titles on the line. If it is true that he and Masato Kamino have even a tiny percent chance of beating SOS then they want to take it. Tsutomu Oosugi tried to explain he only said that as a compliment but he & Banana Senga had to accept the challenge in the end. Nakano & Kamino want to win the belts and stand at the forefront of BASARA!

The OATH At The Peach Garden used by CDK is a Super Kick from Masahiro Takanashi into a Back Clutch Hold from Chris Brookes.

Here’s the updates for DDT that caused the show above to change more matches. The PCR results for Konosuke Takeshita came back negative. However the illness he does have was diagnosed as a stomach bug and he is not fit to compete on Wednesday. Toui Kojima also tested negative but is still showing flu symptoms so he is off the show too.

Hideki Okatani is identified as a close contact so he cannot be at the show either. That means Eruption must forfeit their Ultimate Tag League match against Yuji Hino & Yukio Naya and eliminates them from the running for 1st place in their block. Okatani is expected to be back for the Tag League finale this Sunday if he doesn’t test positive before then. The lesson here boys and girls is do not run a tournament during a pandemic.

TJPW x Prestige, Covid Updates

Yesterday Prestige Wrestling announced they have begun a working relationship with Tokyo Joshi Pro. They tweeted “Over the coming months & years we will bring many of their top stars to the United States!” Prestige has been around since 2017 but had not run any shows since 2019 because of the pandemic. 2022 is their re-launch and they have several shows booked in Oregon and California throughout springtime.

I don’t have much thought on this at the moment. The gap of time between Prestige’s last show to now is long enough that this may as well be a brand new indie so I have no idea what matches to think could happen. At least it’s a potential sign of international travel opening up for the TJPW roster and there might be more work in America available for them than just AEW. Fingers crossed it works out for both sides if it goes ahead.

An update was given out from BASARA after a covid breakout happened to their roster last weekend. Ryota Nakatsu and Masato Kamino both got positive results. Nakatsu’s Union MAX Title match has been postponed until he has recovered. SAGAT is under quarantine until tomorrow for close contact reasons. Daiki Shimomura tested negative and has since returned to his normal activities. Yuya Okada had already tested positive last week and is at home getting treatment. BASARA will make decisions on upcoming shows based on medical advice once everyone is caught up on their current situations.

Ryota Nakatsu, SAGAT, Daiki Shimomura and Masato Kamino were all pulled from the show when they were suspected of having close contact with people who were covid positive. SAGAT has already taken a PCR test and is currently waiting for the results. The rest will follow.

The main event was turned into a Handicap Elimination match because of Shimomura’s absence. Akiyori Takizawa took SAGAT’s place in Match #2 and the opening tag match was switched to a singles match with the remaining wrestlers.

Referee Yuya Okada also tested positive during the week and was not at the show. Freelance ref Daisuke Kanbayashi (previously from WRESTLE-1 and All Japan) filled in for him.

I don’t have the energy to figure out what happens if Takato Nakano and Masato Kamino win their matches. The last day of Jacket Matches were a mixed bag for Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi. He won one and lost one, leaving him stuck at #8 in the rankings. His latest opponent Shiori Asahi is currently ranked #15.

Takeshita wants his rivalry with Brookes to be the peak for this era of DDT, just like Kota Ibushi Vs Kenny Omega was for a previous era.

DDT is collaborating with “Record Of Ragnarok” for a special match. The series is about Humanity fighting for its very survival in a deadly fighting tournament against Gods. It has a manga, a Netflix produced anime and will soon launch a live action stage show. One team led by Daisuke Sekimoto will represent the Gods from the anime and will wrestle in special costumes made for the match. If that’s not enough, Riki Choshu will also be there to provide special guest commentary.

Two more title matches are now official. NEO Biishiki-gun have still shown interest in getting Mizuki to join them. She refuses and along with Yuka Sakazaki wants to regain the Princess Tag Team Titles.

Yuki Aino bounced back from her clean loss to Miyu Yamashita by pinning Hikari Noa in a tag match. With her recent record against champions, Aino has enough claim to challenge for the International Princess Title. Noa isn’t afraid to take the match to dangerous levels in order to keep the belt over her shoulder.

Union MAX Next Challenger Decision League

August 8, 2021

The next few months in BASARA will be spent searching for the person who will challenge for the Union MAX Title at Korakeun Hall on 24th October. A fan vote was held with the majority of the roster taking part (champions and their upcoming challengers were excluded) and the top five qualified for a round robin league. The five contestants are:

1. Ryota Nakatsu (24 Votes)
2. Isami Kodaka (21 Votes)
3. FUMA (17 Votes)
4. Takato Nakano (10 Votes)
5. Masato Kamino (8 Votes)

There is only one group and at the end of the league stage the top two wrestlers will face off in the final. 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for losing. Every match has a 30 minute time limit.
