7. Gathering! The Three Unagi Siblings! ~In One Pond~ Special 6-Man Tag Match: Unagi Mask, Super Unagi Mask & Unagi Mask Woman defeated Aja Kong, Chris Brookes & Antonio Honda when Super Unagi pinned Honda with the Super Unagi Splash (15:01).

A very rainy day turned out to be an unintentional boost for the Three Unagi Siblings. Who could have predicted that wet conditions would favour seafood themed wrestlers? Antonio Honda had his face painted to match Aja Kong and tried to torture his opponents by eating a bento box on top of them after Chris Brookes rolled all of them up into Paradise Locks. The Siblings got their payback when Unagi Mask Woman grabbed Kong’s steel bin from her and hit her over the head with it. She also gave Brookes a German Suplex to clear out the ring. Super Unagi Mask then hit a Springboard Splash onto Honda for the three count. Unagi Mask brought Shishamo Power into the ring after the match so all of the seafood wrestlers could celebrate their victories with the president of Yamada Suisan. They promised to work hard so they can run this event again.

The rainy weather arrived during Match #4 where Gota Ihashi wrestled wearing a Yamada Suisan staff outfit. He wasn’t much use in the match so it was up to Shishamo Power to win it.

Yesterday on the “UNIVERSE MAGIC” show Sanshiro Takagi suffered an injury to his right eye. He has since been diagnosed with a orbital fracture as well as a nasal bone fracture so he will be out of action for a while. A new business deal has been put together this year for DDT to hold wrestling shows at different Mitsui Outlet Park shopping centers. As part of this deal a new championship has been created to be exclusively defended at these shows. The inaugural MOP Tag Team Champions will be crowned at the first show being held at the end of the month. There will be at least two other shows as part of the tour happening in April.

One of the memorable interactions that happened at last year’s Toru Yano Vs Super Sasadango Machine one match show was Antonio Honda and YOH bonding over a Gongitsune joke. YOH has a hatred of foxes going back to when he was bitten by one as a child but Honda got him to join in with telling the joke. Now almost one year later they will meet in the ring again, this time one on one against each other in a wrestling match!

She was said to be just a Yamada Suisan employee who wanted to become a pro wrestler but the real story is that she, Unagi Mask and Super Unagi Mask are all siblings who spent their lives near each other without ever knowing about it! The family needs to be a united force because Chris Brookes & Antonio Honda have formed an alliance with Aja Kong to wipe out the sea food loving wrestlers!

3. Daisuke Sasaki, MJ Paul, Hideki Okatani & Ilusion defeated MAO, Kazuki Hirata, Daichi Sato & Kazuma Sumi when Okatani pinned Sumi with the Vertical Drop Brainbuster (14:54).
4. Jun Akiyama & Yukio Naya defeated Kazusada Higuchi & Yuki Ishida when Naya pinned Ishida with The World’s Best Back Drop (11:21).
5. Special Tag Match: Naomichi Marufuji & Yuki Ueno defeated Chris Brookes & Takeshi Masada when Ueno pinned Masada with a Frog Splash (12:46).
6. Yamada Suisan Fish Army Vs Meat Alliance Army, The Final Showdown! Special 6-Man Tag Match: Shishamo Power, Unagi Mask & Super Unagi Mask defeated Aja Kong, Shunma “EL TURKEY” Katsumata & Yuya “GIBIE” Koroku when Power pinned Katsumata with the Shishamo Driver 2025 (15:11).

It’s been four years now of Shishamo Power wrestling annual matches in DDT on behalf of the Yamada Suisan seafood company. And in that time he has introduced DDT to a seemingly never ending rivalry between seafood themed wrestlers and meat eating fighters. In this latest battle the meat eaters Shunma Katsumata & Yuya Koroku summoned Aja Kong to join their side but the alliance collapsed when Katsumata hit Kong over the head with a steel can by accident. The seafood team then all hit their signature moves on Katsumata. Unagi Mask did a Sling Blade, Super Unagi Mask did a Swan Dive Body Press and Shishamo finished him off with the Shishamo Driver 2025. After the match Kong admitted sea food is great but you can never beat chicken, beef and pork! The Yamada Suisan promised to give Kong some unagi to change her mind.

Naomichi Marufuji made a rare visit to DDT for a match pitting him and Yuki Ueno against Chris Brookes & Takeshi Masada. He gets along with Ueno but admitted after the match that he doesn’t actually like saunas. But before anything could come from that, Brookes told Marufuji he would be interested in facing him one on one next time he comes over.

Continuing on from yesterday, Danshoku Dieno wrestled his match without using his usual moveset.

KANON used a Modified Facebuster where he lifted up his opponent into a Canadian Backbreaker and then flipped him sideways into a Sitout Facebuster.

The cards for Tokyo Joshi Pro’s first weekend of shows in April were announced before Yoshiko Hasegawa’s announcement but they seem to be more fitting now in hindsight. Hasegawa wants to wrestle everybody on the TJPW roster before she retires and this match here with Miyu Yamashita will be a first time singles match between the two.

Both Shoko Nakajima and HIMAWARI will be missing the two shows because they will be wrestling in America for MLW that weekend.

Special 6-Man Tag Match: Shishamo Power, Unagi Mask & Super Unagi Mask defeated Makoto “Mr. CHICKEN” Oishi, Chris “THE FALCON” Brookes & Shunma “EL TURKEY” Katsumata when Power submitted Oishi with the Goliath Birdeater (16:20).

The war that has been brewing between meat eaters and seafood lovers made its way back to DDT for its yearly appearance. The seafood company Yamada Suisan were now facing a threat made more powerful by a rival chicken sponsor called Maruto Poultry Shokuhin. The enemy drafted Makoto Oishi, Chris Brookes & Shunma Katsumata over to their side, giving them bird related nicknames along the way. It was up to Yamada’s own seafood theme wrestlers Shishamo Power, Unagi Mask & Super Unagi Mask to save the day. Shishamo Power was the one to earn the victory by making Oishi give up to the Goliath Birdeater submission hold.

After the match Oishi and his team all admitted they love seafood. It’s just that they also like chicken meat. The two sides should get along and do their best to provide children with all of the protein they need to help build up their growing bodies. Shishamo agreed to a truce. He also can’t help but notice that every time DDT runs these shows, a different part of the food industry comes in and starts a fight with the seafood sponsor. First it was meat and now it is chicken. Who will it be the next time?

Catching Up On The News I Missed

I’m back from holiday. The week both flew by while also feeling like a ton of news items happened while I was gone. I’ll be spending this weekend writing up last week’s show reports so you’ll be getting them eventually. But first I want to get the upcoming lineups out of the way. I’ll leave the King Of DDT and Ganbare☆Pro stuff for their own posts because I want to write about them separately.

The final matches of Juria Nagano’s career happens tomorrow. For her graduation she will be wrestling twice with her Shinken Kusho partner Moka Miyamoto. One match will be a singles match against each other while the second match is a 6-Woman Tag. Is that going to be the right match order though?

Hyper Misao is out of action with a right ankle fracture. It looked like she suffered the injury during her match against Steph De Lander at last week’s “GCW VS TJPW” show. Her return will be decided based on her doctor’s diagnosis and recovery time. The injury means she will miss her Daikaiju Pro match back in America later this month.

Due to the request of Toru Owashi we are getting a ground breaking second defence by the reigning KO-D 10-Man Tag Team Champions! None of the previous champion teams have ever stuck together long enough to take part in a second title defence. SCHADENFREUDE International can now become the most successfuly 10-Man Tag Champs ever if they can beat Owashi’s team of scrappy challengers.

Some controversy happened over the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title while Sayaka Unagi was on her tour of America. She unexpectedly lost and then won back the title against an unknown wrestler at some point. No video footage of the title changes exist and Unagi does not know the name of the person who beat her. After having discussions with the DDT GM Hisaya Imabayashi it was agreed that “Strange Foreigner” will be recognised as the 1,620th champion and when Unagi won it back she became the 1,621st champion. The incident has motivated Sanshiro Takagi even more to reclaim the title for DDT in order to remove any risk of the championship being lost overseas forever.

Keigo Nakamura returns from injury and is immediately being put in the ring against MAO.

The next match Yukinori Matsui is adding to his show is all about Dick Togo and the wrestlers who look up to him. Daisuke Sasaki, Yasu Urano and Antonio Honda have all been taken under Togo’s wing at some point during their careers.

So the first match on the lineup caught my attention. Thanomsak Toba will be taking on another martial artist called Bushimasa. The match is sponsored by A-Toys Challenge Fight, or ACF for short. I went looking for clips of Bushimasa and found some not so impressive looking fights of his. He has taken part in a match type called Tire Fights where a tyre is placed in the middle of the ring, both fighters stick a foot into the gap and have to box each other while keeping their foot in the tyre. Most of his fights I could find had him lose and convincingly so. I guess he exists to be a human punching bag?

Some of the other guests on the show include Jinsei Shinzaki, Yuji Hino and Shigehiro Irie. Also Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi has been added to the show lineup but does not have a match yet.

Both To-y and Rukiya have commented on reaching the D GENERATIONS CUP final. To-y said competing in this year’s tournament made him feel more anxious than last year because he needed to get stronger in order to catch up to Hideki Okatani and Takeshi Masada. He had to ask himself what is his dream? It is to win the KO-D Openweight Title. In order to make that dream closer to coming true he needs to win this tournament for a spot in King Of DDT. Rukiya is only focused on winning the D GENERATIONS CUP. He has the least amount of experience out of all of the participants and understands that nobody expected him to win any of his matches. He regrets debuting too late to take part in last year’s tournament and is using those feelings to motivate him.

The annual Osaka show booked by Yukinori Matsui will this year celebrate his 30th anniversary in the wrestling business. He has put together three main events for the show. Top of the card is a big singles match between Konosuke Takeshita and Minoru Suzuki! Then there is a tag match featuring four of DDT’s main stars Yuki Ueno, Kazusada Higuchi, MAO and Tetsuya Endo. Last but not least Kikutaro and Kuishinbo Kamen will also be celebrating their 30th anniversaries this year. Add both of their anniversaries together with Matsui’s and you will get a 90th anniversary to celebrate!
