1. IRON FIST TAG TOURNAMENT – Semi Final: Ryuichi Sekine & Ryota Nakatsu defeated Manabu Hara & Fuminori Abe when Sekine submitted Abe with the Let’s Combine (12:11).
2. IRON FIST TAG TOURNAMENT – Semi Final: FUMA & SAGAT defeated Best Stretchman V3 & Tsutomu Oosugi when SAGAT pinned Stretchman with the Goregrind (8:18).
3. Reversal Pro Wrestling Trial: Gouma Ryu defeated Hercules Senga and Isami Kodaka when Ryu pinned Senga with La Magistral Cradle (8:47).
4. Yasu Urano & Daiki Shimomura defeated Takato Nakano & Akiyori Takizawa when Urano pinned Nakano with the Modern Times (10:54).
5. Isami Kodaka, Takumi Tsukamoto & Yoshihisa Uto defeated Trans-Am ★ Ryuichi, Trans-Am ★ Tanaka & Yusuke Kubo when Kodaka pinned Kubo after the Axis Fall (14:37).
6. IRON FIST TAG TOURNAMENT – Final: Ryuichi Sekine & Ryota Nakatsu defeated FUMA & SAGAT when Nakatsu submitted SAGAT with the Crescent Moon (19:16).

Cavalry have won the 2018 IRON FIST TAG TOURNAMENT! A busy day for Ryuichi Sekine & Ryota Nakatsu began with them beating Manabu Hara & Fuminori Abe at the start of the show. Sekine put Abe in the Let’s Combine and Nakatsu kept Hara away from them with a German Suplex for the finish. The other semi final saw FUMA & SAGAT eliminate Best Stretchman V3 & Tsutomu Oosugi. Stretchman did well to knock FUMA out of the ring but he was met with an Axe Bomber and the Goregrind from SAGAT.

In the final Nakatsu trapped SAGAT in the Crescent Moon crab hold to earn the victory and win Cavalry the tournament. Sekine cried out that Cavalry were finally getting the results they wanted but there is more for them to do. Next up in their plan is the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles match on the 25th February DDT show. Sekine & Nakatsu fought against Abe in the semi final and it made them bond stronger as a trio because they all communicate through fighting.

The Electric Chair Superplex that Isami Kodaka & Yoshihisa Uto have been using together is now called the Axis Fall. It won them their match today but Kodaka still came dangerously close to landing badly onto his own head from the move.

In the lead up to this month’s Pro Wrestling Trial there was no mention of who was the accused was going to be. When it begun Hercules Senga was surprised to find out that it was him! Gouma Ryu accused Senga of exploiting other wrestlers by becoming a lawyer without having the proper skill level needed to do the job. Senga denied the accusation and called the whole thing a farce. An objection came from Isami Kodaka who was dressed as a lawyer for the occasion. He suggested to Ryu and Senga that they should reach a settlement but Ryu attacked him from behind. Ryu wanted to fight Senga so they wrestled until Ryu pinned Senga with La Magistral Cradle. Senga said afterwards there is one place higher than BASARA and it is DDT! Senga demanded a meeting with Sanshiro Takagi and he wants it to happen at BASARA’s show in Seijo next month.

BASARA “VAJRA 59 ~ONE MINDLESS BODY~” Results

February 11, 2018

BASARA “VAJRA 59 ~ONE MINDLESS BODY~”, 11/02/2018
Tokyo BASEMENT MON☆STAR
160 Fans – Super No Vacancy Full House

1. Hercules Senga defeated Daiki Shimomura with the Yellow Dragon (9:05).
2. IRON FIST TAG TOURNAMENT – Round 1: FUMA & SAGAT defeated Takato Nakano & Akiyori Takizawa when FUMA pinned Nakano with the Heavy Metal Anthem (11:55).
3. IRON FIST TAG TOURNAMENT – Round 1: Best Stretchman V3 & Tsutomu Oosugi defeated Isami Kodaka & Yoshihisa Uto when Oosugi pinned Kodaka with the Tsukinoishi (13:16).
4. IRON FIST TAG TOURNAMENT – Round 1: Manabu Hara & Fuminori Abe defeated Trans-Am ★ Ryuichi & Yusuke Kubo when Hara submitted Kubo with a Chickenwing Armlock (16:01).
5. IRON FIST TAG TOURNAMENT – Round 1: Ryuichi Sekine & Ryota Nakatsu defeated Takumi Tsukamoto & Yasu Urano when Sekine submitted Urano with the Let’s Combine (27:41).

In a big surprise, the two wrestlers from last year’s winning team were both eliminated in the first round this year. Isami Kodaka’s first problem was his partner Yoshihisa Uto was disturbed by Best Stretchman V3 and didn’t know what to do with him. Kodaka’s other problem was Tsutomu Oosugi being completely ready for him. Oosugi got the upset pin over Kodaka to advance the Best Stretch team to the semi-final. Oosugi said he is now a trainer with a cause and he challenges Kodaka to put the Union MAX Title on the line against him. Kodaka agreed to it and the match will happen on 3rd March. All Kodaka asks is for Oosugi to come in his regular wrestling gear instead of the Best Stretch uniform he wore for today’s match.

Takumi Tsukamoto also had a bad go in his 1st Round match. He was taken out by Ryuichi Sekine & Ryota Nakatsu. That left Yasu Urano alone to be picked apart by Cavalry at the end. Sekine struggled to stand after the match because of damage to his left knee but he and Nakatsu were able to brag about their recent good match record in the venue.

The Metal Family had mixed results in the two remaining 1st Round Matches. FUMA & SAGAT were able to beat the rookie team of Takato Nakano & Akiyori Takizawa. However Trans-Am ★ Ryuichi & Yusuke Kubo lost to Manabu Hara & Fuminori Abe. Ryuichi gave his condolences to Kubo backstage and acted like Kubo died in the ring. Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi complained about how much he hates shoot style wrestling. Everyone should be doing powerful American style wrestling instead. They will leave it up to FUMA & SAGAT to win the rest of the tournament for them.

The IRON FIST TAG TOURNAMENT semi-final match-ups are Ryuichi Sekine & Ryota Nakatsu Vs Manabu Hara & Fuminori Abe and FUMA & SAGAT Vs Best Stretchman V3 & Tsutomu Oosugi. The semi-finals and final will happen on 19th February.

Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi announced his first match back from injury will take place on the 3rd May Korakuen Hall show. He’s been recovering from a separated shoulder since last summer.

2. Akito, Rekka & Samara defeated Kikutaro, Antonio Honda & Kazuki Hirata when Akito pinned Hirata with the Hanamasa (9:24).
3. Shuten-dōji Vs BASARA!: Ryota Nakatsu & Fuminori Abe defeated Yukio Sakaguchi & Masahiro Takanashi when Abe submitted Takanashi with the Manjigatame (11:21).
4. Danshoku Dino & Keisuke Ishii Vs Daisuke Sasaki & Mad Paulie ended in a No Contest (9:00).
5. Kota Umeda defeated Yuki Ueno with the Umeda Driver (15:54).
6. Kazusada Higuchi, Kouki Iwasaki & MAO defeated HARASHIMA, Soma Takao & Makoto Oishi Vs Kazusada Higuchi, Kouki Iwasaki & MAO when Higuchi submitted Oishi with the Modified Canadian Backbreaker (11:00).
7. Road To KO-D! ‘Hama Special Tag Match: Shuji Ishikawa & Tetsuya Endo defeated Konosuke Takeshita & Shunma Katsumata when Endo pinned Katsumata with the Shooting Star Press (16:26).

Konosuke Takeshita and Shuji Ishikawa will have plenty of chances to know each other’s strengths as their Sumo Hall preview series of matches continued today. Ishikawa said that his body will not break before 25th March. Daisuke Sasaki told everyone that Mad Paulie is not allowed to sing or dance to celebrate Ishikawa’s victories until Ishikawa beats Takeshita at Sumo Hall. Both Ishikawa and Paulie were shocked to hear this news.

Kazusada Higuchi said he is feeling good again after his latest match with HARASHIMA involved. Higuchi made Makoto Oishi submit to the Canadian Backbreaker to win. Next on his list of priorities is his match with Naomichi Marufuji in Korakuen Hall. Higuchi sees this as a big chance to beat one of the best pro wrestlers going today. He wants the fans expecting him to crush Marufuji!

After a month of intense exchanges in the ring, Kota Umeda and Yuki Ueno fought each other one on one to settle their differences. Umeda’s kicks overwhelmed Ueno but he took as many of them as he could before falling to the Umeda Driver. The two shook hands after the match but Ueno was still in a bad mood. He explained backstage that he is frustrated because he wants to become stronger but hasn’t felt any change in him recently. He doesn’t dislike Umeda, he is just angry that Umeda was able to advance his skills after coming back from a serious injury.

DAMNATION have awoken something dark and evil inside Danshoku Dino. He was taken out of his tag match when Daisuke Sasaki injured him with a chair attack. Keisuke Ishii had to fight on his own and was on the verge of tapping out to the Cross Facelock when Great Muta style chanting could be heard around the room. Dino came back as The Great Homo and spat a milk like mist at everyone in the ring! The match was stopped but The Great Homo continued his rampage. He took out a metal spike and attacked Sasaki with it, aiming for his ass. Sasaki was able to escape when other wrestlers at ringside pulled Dino away from him.

The BASARA team showed they are united towards achieving their goal of winning the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles. They came out to the BASARA theme song instead of their own. When they won today’s match, Ryota Nakatsu & Fuminori Abe mocked Shuten-dōji by taking out cans of beer from under the ring and holding their own victory toast. An angry Yukio Sakaguchi chased them away from the ring.

Antonio Honda tried to impress Samara by telling his story about “Gon, The Little Fox” in English.

KUDO was mostly ignored by Toru Owashi and Daiki Shimomura in the 3 Way Match. Both of them even yelled at him to stop interfering in their fight. Owashi finally allowed KUDO to get involved by asking him to do the Diving Double Knee Drop to Shimomura. But when KUDO climbed the ropes, Owashi grabbed Shimomura and pinned him with La Magistral Cradle. Afterwards KUDO said he was relieved that his daughter wasn’t here to see this match nor will she be allowed to watch it on DDT UNIVERSE.

Rika Tatsumi made some news last Thursday during DDT’s segment on the AbemaTV show “The NIGHT”. During a conversation between the hosts and guests, Tatsumi brought up a subject to Danshoku Dino and Sanshiro Takagi that had been bothering her for a while. She fancies Mizuki (calls her cute as a rabbit) but can’t do anything about it because of the Forbidden Three rules used for Tokyo Joshi wrestlers. She thinks that is unfair because the rule in question is “No relationships with men” and her target is a woman. She put Takagi on the spot to clarify the rule. Takagi described this moment as a new culture starting to grow. He suggested they invite Mizuki to the show first to get her opinion before he makes a decision. A viewer vote was set up during the show and 82.1% voted in support of Tatsumi. She asked the fans to support her way of love. Don’t know if this will make the tag team match awkward or not since Tatsumi and Mizuki will have to wrestle each other at some point during it.

The two big Sumo Hall matches are blended together for the main event, Kazusada Higuchi gets to fight Naomichi Marufuji one on one and Shunma Katsumata gets a DDT Extreme Title shot. DAMNATION and Danshoku Dino’s buddies face off before The Great Muta arrives. The Tag Rumble might also give some clues to who will take part in the Ryogoku Falls Count Anywhere Match.

Shuten-dōji called for challengers in DDT’s other promotions and BASARA answered the call. Ryuichi Sekine, Ryota Nakatsu & Fuminori Abe were selected by Isami Kodaka and Producer Dino to challenge for for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles.

7. D-King Grand Prix – Final: HARASHIMA Vs Shuji Ishikawa

We’ve had some time to rest but this weekend brings us the finale of the 2018 D-King Grand Prix. I think the tournament has been a success and the match quality has drawn in some new eyes to DDT this month so hopefully this will stick around as an annual tournament. Scheduling it after Wrestle Kingdom is mostly a good idea. The wrestling scene over in Japan calms down a little when that show is over so the space is there to put on a bunch of easy to watch straightforward shows. Maybe just don’t run three to four Korakuen Hall shows in a row beforehand. That was overkill and the attendance numbers showed. Anyway, let’s get to the final.

HARASHIMA and Shuji Ishikawa have known each other for a long time. They represent the same generation of DDT wrestlers and they’ve beaten each other to win the KO-D Openweight Championship. No matter how far they split off and drift apart, their paths will always meet again inside the DDT ring. Ishikawa’s goal for 2018 is to beat his 2017 accomplishments and winning the D-King is exactly what he needs to start that plan. HARASHIMA wants to avenge his losses to the champion Konosuke Takeshita but he is putting all of his attention into beating Ishikawa first. Ishikawa thinks that winning the tournament and then going on to win the championship at Sumo Hall will raise the value of the Grand Prix. He also thinks his extra experience from wrestling in other companies while HARASHIMA has stayed put inside the DDT walls is the difference maker between them. Ishikawa has the better record against HARASHIMA in singles matches. He has won 3 out of their 4 previous singles matches together. HARASHIMA won their last match back in December 2016. Plus he also beat him one time as HERO! way back in 2003, although he broke his foot during the match.

If Ishikawa wins he wants to invest the 1,900,000 yen of the 2,000,000 prize money in bitcoins because it is the fashionable thing to do now. The remaining 100,000 yen will be given to Daisuke Sasaki and Tetsuya Endo. HARASHIMA hasn’t thought about what he would do with the money but the amount on the line does excite him.

Black Ribera is the mysterious wrestler wearing a Tiger Mask that appeared at the end of last weekend’s show. Shuichiro Katsumura was called the Real Tiger Mask for his charity work after the Tohoku earthquake back in 2011 so that explains the link with the unknown masked wrestler that just appeared. However in this situation Katsumura is not playing the hero.

Samara’s stay in Japan will not be limited to Tokyo Joshi. She is also wrestling on this Ganbare☆Wrestling show with Baliyan Akki.

Katsumi Oribe will also be on the show.

1. Tsutomu Oosugi defeated SAGAT with a Sunset Flip (8:09).
2. Reversal Pro Wrestling Trial: Guts Ishijima defeated Gouma Ryu and Hercules Senga when Ishijima pinned both Ryu and Senga with a Double Lariat (6:19).
3. Isami Kodaka defeated Takato Nakano with the Diving Double Knee Drop (10:32).
4. FUMA, Trans-Am ★ Ryuichi & Yusuke Kubo defeated Takumi Tsukamoto, Yasu Urano & Daichi Kazato when FUMA pinned Kazato with the Heavy Metal Anthem (14:56).
5. Ryuichi Sekine Debut 10th Anniversary Memorial Match – 60 Minute Iron Man Match: Ryuichi Sekine (3) defeated Ryota Nakatsu (2) (60:00).
5a. Ryota Nakatsu (1) defeated Ryuichi Sekine (0) with the Cross Armbreaker (19:07).
5b. Ryuichi Sekine (1) defeated Ryota Nakatsu (1) with the Let’s Combine (23:18).
5c. Ryota Nakatsu (2) defeated Ryuichi Sekine (1) by Countout (29:40).
5d. Ryuichi Sekine (2) defeated Ryota Nakatsu (2) with the Let’s Combine (37:08).
5e. Ryuichi Sekine (3) defeated Ryota Nakatsu (2) with the Let’s Combine (40:00).

To celebrate 10 years in pro wrestling Ryuichi Sekine took on his Cavalry buddy Ryota Nakatsu in a 60 minute Ironman match. Sekine came out on top thanks to the Let’s Combine crab hold. The submission hold was used to make Nakatsu submit three times throughout the match. Nakatsu was only able to beat Sekine twice, once by countout after beating him up too much outside the ring. Both wrestlers were exhausted by the end and collapsed when the time expired. Sekine told Nakatsu he had nothing left after that. Nakatsu asked Sekine if he was still alive then congratulated him on his anniversary. Sekine pointed out that it wasn’t just his 10th anniversary. Today is also the 2nd anniversary of BASARA’s debut show! It irks him that BASARA is seen as Isami Kodaka’s promotion. Sekine just main evented the 2nd anniversary show in an hour long match. It should be him standing at the head of BASARA!

Since Takumi Tsukamoto is teaming with Yasu Urano for this year’s IRON FIST TAG TOURNAMENT, Isami Kodaka had to find another partner in order to enter the competition. After beating Takato Nakano, Kodaka decided that Nakano is just the guy he is looking for. But before he could confirm it, Yoshihisa Uto from Big Japan entered the ring. Uto teamed with Kodaka at the New Year’s Eve tag tournament, an experience Kodaka would like to forget. Kodaka & Uto will be entering the tournament. Nakano felt left out and asked what would happen to him. Kodaka told him that he will be teaming with Akiyori Takizawa in the tournament.

Last November Guts Ishijima went to pro wrestling court accused of breaking the Labour Standards Act. Today he was back in court accused of perjury in regards to comments he made from the previous case. Ishijima previously said that he was doing what he could to keep GUTS World alive. Hercules Senga claims this is false and Ishijima had talked to him about folding the company months before it happened. Senga also accused a bunch of GUTS World wrestlers of assaulting him and others when they all got drunk one time. Ishijima denied having memory of either situation and demanded proof. SAGAT was called in and he said he suffered a head injury during the brawl. Gouma Ryu objected and said SAGAT got that injury from a wrestling match he took part in that same day. Takumi Tsukamoto came out claiming the same injury. Senga then accused Ishijima of kissing women when he was drunk but Ishijima denied taking part in any kind of masochistic behaviour. Ryu openly regretted representing the same client twice and started a fight with Senga to progress the segment. Ishijima gave both of them a Double Lariat and pinned them. He was declared innocent as a result. Again.

1. Residents Of Shinjuku Ni-chōme Vs Inhabitants Of The Demon World Special 6-Man Tag Match: Danshoku Dino, X & X Vs Great Muta, X & X

Danshoku Dino promised a big announcement for the show would be found in the latest issue of Weekly Pro-Wrestling magazine. It turned out to be the reveal of Dino Vs Great Muta in a 6-Man Tag Team Match with more participants to be announced. The team names seems to offer some clues. Dino’s team is the Residents Of Shinjuku Ni-chōme. That is the area where DDT’s head office is located so I’m guessing his partners are wrestlers with other behind the scene responsibilities like Sanshiro Takagi and Super Sasadango Machine. The Great Muta’s team are hinted as other demonic gimmicks. Whether or not these are already established characters or just regular wrestlers taking up Muta tributes for the occasion remains to be seen.

The list of non-DDT and foreign wrestlers confirmed for the show so far are Naomichi Marufuji, Daisuke Sekimoto, Jiro “Ikemen” Kuroshio, Shuji Ishikawa, Mike Bailey, Joey Ryan, Colt Cabana and LiLiCo.
