6. DDT Universal Title: Yuki Ueno (c) Vs Koju “Shining Ball” Takeda
7. KO-D Openweight Title: Kazusada Higuchi (c) Vs Yukio Sakaguchi

Yukio Sakaguchi has spent the last day training with Kosei Kubota at the Sakaguchi Dojo in Yokohama. Other preparations for the KO-D Openweight Title match are sparring with open-finger gloves and weight training. Sakaguchi thinks Kazusada Higuchi has a perfect score of 10 when it comes to power, speed, technique and toughness. But his weakness is heart. That is what Sakaguchi thinks will help him win the match and become champion. He also criticizes the age limit that was added to this year’s D-Ou Grand Prix. The tournament is supposed to determine the strongest wrestler in DDT but cutting off entries older than forty years old means the tournament will only determine the strongest wrestler under forty. If Sakaguchi becomes the new champion he will be waiting for the D-Ou winner to meet him in the ring. He also encourages the other wrestlers in his age group to not give up and show their pride. As for his demand for Harimao to be join forces with Eruption and be absorbed into the unit, he sees the idea as a way for himself and Higuchi to start over after their match ends. It is up to Higuchi to show confidence and prove that Harimao can get things done by themselves.

DDT held a short interview with Saki Akai on their website asking her about the Higuchi Vs Sakaguchi match. She called Higuchi a kind, sensitive, strong, and reliable fighter but was always one step away from becoming the champion. So they had many frustrating experiences together in Eruption. She understands Sakaguchi’s feelings on the matter and can’t imagine how both men will feel when they step into the ring on the day of the match. She thinks Higuchi has the power and momentum but Sakaguchi knows his weaknesses and when to attack them. She’s also aware that Sakaguchi becomes an even more fearful fighter when his limits get removed. The scary thing is we don’t even know how fearsome he can become once that happens.

Takashimadaira Ward Community Center
??? Fans – Withheld

1. Jun Masaoka defeated Lil’ Kraken with the Ambitions (11:36).
2. Takumi Tsukamoto, Fuminori Abe & Thanomsak Toba defeated FUMA, KUBITO & Daichi Kazato when Abe submitted Kazato with the Manjigatame (11:46).

4. Daiki Shimomura defeated Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi with the Swanton Bomb (15:12).
5. IRON FIST Tag Titles: Tsutomu Oosugi & Banana Senga (c) defeated Isami Kodaka & Yuko Miyamoto when Oosugi pinned Kodaka with teh Tsuki no Ishi (19:23).
*V6 for Speed Of Sounds.

Isami Kodaka blamed his team’s loss in the main event over his ring gear. His usual Yankee Two Kenju costume got damaged and when he ordered a replacement costume it came in grey when he asked for them to be black. In hindsight he realized that was a bad sign he & Yuko Miyamoto were going to lose today. Both of them felt nostalgic fighting against Speed Of Sounds again so they are happy with the match despite losing. SOS agrees and would like to fight Yankee Two Kenju again but not often. Like in 20 years time.

At the end of the show Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino came out and challenged SOS for the IRON FIST Tag Titles. SOS pointed out that Aijin Tag has never beaten them before and they’ve failed to win the IRON FIST Tag Titles from them twice, once in each of their title reigns. Nakano understands that but believes he and Kamino will win the next time. Senga appreciated their courage and accepted their challenge as long as they think they can surpass their last match. The title defence will happen on 6th September.

Daiki Shimomura has made it known he wants a shot at the Union MAX Title. He’s been in a lot of singles matches this year for BASARA and they’ve been going well for him. After beating Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi he wants to use this momentum to earn himself a title match.

Kodaka said he is waiting for the invitation to be on that show. He also mentioned wanting to chase after the IRON FIST Tag Titles currently being held by Speed Of Sounds. Miyamoto asked if Kodaka was going to team with Daiki Shimomura to challenge them but Kodaka said they already tried and failed. Instead he wants Miyamoto to team with him so Yankee Two Kenju can become tag champs again! They are both 40 years old now but do not want to use age as an excuse for their failures.

Shiro Asahi took part in the 3 Way Jacket match wearing full Kendo gear. Bogu, kendo stick and all.

BASARA “BASARA 195 ~GLITTER~” Results

June 21, 2022

BASARA “BASARA 195 ~GLITTER~”, 21/06/2022
Shin-Kiba 1st RING
??? Fans – Withheld

1. Chicharito Shoki defeated Lil’ Kraken with the Torvezino Clutch (6:49).
2. SAGAT & Akiyori Takizawa defeated Daichi Kazato & Gouma when Takizawa pinned Kazato after the Big Mac (13:03).
3. Daiki Shimomura, Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino defeated Takumi Tsukamoto, Fuminori Abe & Yasu Urano when Shimomura pinned Urano with a Sasaki Hurricanrana (13:23).
4. IRON FIST Tag Titles: Tsutomu Oosugi & Banana Senga (c) defeated FUMA & Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi when Senga pinned Hiroshi with the Toque de Espaldas (13:27).
*V5 for Speed Of Sounds.
5. Union MAX Title: Isami Kodaka defeated Ryota Nakatsu (c) with the Diving Double Knee Drop (20:24).
*Ryota Nakatsu fails in V7. Isami Kodaka becomes the 17th Union MAX Champion!

The Union MAX Title belongs to Isami Kodaka once more! He brought Ryota Nakatsu’s dominant reign to an end with an unexpected use of a Fire Thunder Driver to set up not one, not two but three Diving Knee Drops in a row. It’s been four years since Kodaka last held the title and he isn’t eager to risk losing it so quickly. He announced he will not put the title on the line against Yuko Miyamoto for his 20th Anniversary match at Korakuen Hall on 18th July. The upcoming match is what inspired him to use the Fire Thunder today and he promises the match will be the culmination of Yankee Two Kenju.

Speed Of Sounds defended the IRON FIST Tag Titles while wearing homemade robot helmets and acting like RoboCop.

Chicharito Shoki got the win against Lil’ Kraken out of nowhere with the Torvezino Clutch. Kraken got angry over the result and attacked Shoki after the match forcing the two to be pulled apart.

At the start of the show Yusuke Kubo came out, making his first public appearance in BASARA since he was hospitalized with acute pancreatitis back in March. Kubo announced his return match will be on 10th July and he will be using a new name to mark the occasion. Yusuke Kubo is now called KUBITO! He explained it is sort of like the Mexican version of calling him “Kubo-chan”. The origin of the name comes from his time staying in Mexico when the landlady of the place he stayed in always called him “Kubito”.

BASARA are invited round with Kodaka & Daiki Shimomura taking on Keisuke Ishii & Nobuhiro Shimatani. That match doubles up as a Gran MilliMeters reunion for Shimomura and Shimatani. Former opponents Onryo & Tyson Maeguchi team up to go against the unique team of Tatsuhito Takaiwa & Shigehiro Irie. Also Ryuya Matsufusa returns to Ganpro for a match against Kouki Iwasaki.

TOKYO JOSHI PRO “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’22”, 09/07/2022
Tokyo Ota Ward Gymnasium

1. Willow Nightingale Vs X
2. Mei Suruga & Suzume Vs X & X
3. International Princess Title: Maki Itoh (c) Vs Invited Overseas Wrestler
4. Princess Of Princess Title: Shoko Nakajima (c) Vs Rika Tatsumi

American wrestler Willow Nightingale will make her Tokyo Joshi Pro debut on the show. “The Babe With The Power” is a regular on the American indies with her most high profile work being with ROH, MLW and lately AEW. An interesting note to point out is she will not be the foreign wrestler challenging Maki Itoh for the International Princess Title. Nightingale’s match will instead be announced on a later date.

May as well put it here that the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer reports on discussions to bring Thunder Rosa back to TJPW while she holds the AEW Women’s Title. This follows up on last week’s report on AEW being so impressed with Miyu Yamashita during her entire American excursion that they may want to do Rosa Vs Yamashita for the title somewhere down the road. Rosa herself hasn’t kept it a secret about how much she supports TJPW and wants to go back to Japan (and I think she let slip on one of her vlogs that it will happen sooner rather than later). That would be a big opponent for Itoh because the belt she has was taken away from Rosa two years ago.

GANBARE☆PRO “WRESTLE SEKIGAHARA”, 10/07/2022
Tokyo Ota Ward Gymnasium

1. Ganbare☆Pro Wrestling Vs Takiawa Army: Kouki Iwasaki & Tyson Maeguchi Vs Tatsuhito Takaiwa & 5th Black Tiger

3. Ganbare☆Pro Wrestling Vs Eruption: Mizuki Watase, Moeka Haruhi & Shinichiro Tominaga Vs Yukio Sakaguchi, Saki Akai & Hideki Okatani
4. Special Single Match: Yuna Manase Vs Sayaka Unagi
5. Special Tag Match ~ CDK Vs ROMANCE DAWN: Chris Brookes & Masahiro Takanashi Vs Shota & Soma Takao
6. Special Single Match: Shuichiro Katsumura Vs Minoru Suzuki
7. Spirit Of Ganbare World Openweight Title: Yumehito Imanari (c) Vs Ken Ohka

Four figures from the past DNA that helped create Ganbare☆Pro are put together for a beastly tag match. You can trace Ishii, Irie, Kodaka and Shuji Ishikawa back to Ganpro’s predecessor Union Pro.

BASARA “ISAMI KODAKA 20TH ANNIVERSARY”, 18/07/2022
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

1. Lil’ Kraken Vs Raimu Imai
2. 3 Way Jacket Match: Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi Vs Gouma Vs Shiori Asahi
3. Takumi Tsukamoto, Yasu Urano & Kengo Mashimo Vs FUMA, Yusuke Kubo & Daichi Kazato
4. Daiki Shimomura, Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino Vs Tsutomu Oosugi, Banana Senga & Masahiro Takanashi
5. Elimination 8-Man Tag Match: Ryota Nakatsu, SAGAT, Naoki Tanizaki & Akiyori Takizawa Vs Fuminori Abe, Takuya Nomura, Hideyoshi Kamitani & Kosuke Sato
6. Isami Kodaka Vs Yuko Miyamoto

Kodaka celebrates his 20th Anniversary by taking on the wrestler who probably knows him better than anyone else in the business. Yuko Miyamoto teams on and off with Kodaka as Yankee Two Kenju and is probably the most fitting opponent available for this show.

For the first time in a long time Sparky is together at full power. All four members of the unit will team up to take on a Big Japan flavored team led by Astronauts.

Yusuke Kubo has recovered from his illness and returns to wrestling here. It will be his first match since March.

DDT “SUMMER VACATION 2022”, 24/07/2022
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

1. Makoto Oishi Return Match: Makoto Oishi Vs X

After one year away with injury, Makoto Oishi returns to the ring! Oishi suffered a back injury last July during a match and had to be stretchered out of the venue. He was diagnosed with a fractured lumbar vertebrae and hadn’t wrestled since. However he was equipped with a back brace and continued working in the background at DDT shows, even finding ways to perform on those shows without having to wrestle.

5. Hokuo Presents Special Tag Match ~WE GOTTA NeppWER!!~: Yuko Miyamoto & Isami Kodaka defeated Konosuke Takeshita & Shunma Katsumata when Kodaka pinned Katsumata with the Ikkitousen (18:36).

Today’s heavily sponsored show was put together by The 37KAMIINA. There were many sauna related endorsements attached to the event such as a big gift voucher for a popular sauna shop in Tokyo as the prize for whoever won the main event. Konosuke Takeshita & Shunma Katsumata really wanted to win that prize put couldn’t defeat Yankee Two Kenju to get it. Instead Takeshita was dragged outside to fight with Yuko Miyamoto while Isami Kodaka pinned Katsumata with the Ikkitousen. Takeshita was still happy to wrestle against one of the most established tag teams in Japan. He asked if they could give him a lend of the voucher but Kodaka refused. Takeshita then asked the sponsor if he and Katsumata deserved a voucher of their own for their performance today. The sponsor agreed and promised to get them one. Kodaka is already familiar with Katsumata through their death matches in Big Japan but he showed interest in having a singles match against Takeshita some day.

It’s the distant future, the year 20XX. Toru Owashi, Danshoku Dieno & Masahiro Takanashi formed a new evil unit called SHOCK CHOOSE DOG to take over everything. Desperate for help, Sanshiro Takagi used a time machine to bring HERO! over and save the day! Things were looking bleak when Dieno stripped Yuki Ueno out of his wrestling gear, causing Ueno to leave the match out of protest. Even worse, SHOCK CHOOSE DOG unmasked HERO! to reveal it was HARASHIMA! Takagi screamed for help and all of a sudden, another HERO! appeared! HARASHIMA put the mask back on and the two HERO!’s worked together to stop SHOCK CHOOSE DOG once and for all. HARA-HERO! explained that the time machine must have grabbed a HERO! from two or three years before his own time, like maybe the Club ATOM era of DDT. That is going to create a time paradox so the two HERO!’s must return to their own timelines immediately. Takagi asked where Ueno went during all of this and the other HERO! said he saw him crying in the waiting room.

Meanwhile MAO had big plans for his portion of the show. Today he established the All Japan Hardcore Judo Association! He defeated Takayuki Ueki in a Hardcore Judo match that mixed judo throws with chair shots, ladder bumps and table crashes. This stipulation was used once before when MAO challenged Shinya Aoki for the DDT Extreme Title. So it is a natural choice for MAO to choose Aoki as the association’s chairman! Ueki will also be involved as an Exectuive Director while MAO himself is the President. MAO would like Naomi Yoshimura and Kazusada Higuchi to get involved too so it can grow big enough to hold two Hardcore Judo matches per event.

Hyper Misao & Mecha Mummy were the last team standing in the SSS Cup Gauntlet Match. They then found out that Katsumata is the general manager of the sauna shop that was sponsoring the match. When he presented the team with their prize, Misao suddenly sprayed him in the face! She still holds a grudge with him over their Hardcore matches that took place in Nagoya and the Tokyo Dome last year where she felt humiliated losing to him. She will still go to the sauna with Mecha Mummy though because the steam will help clean up the robot’s body.

Poor little Toui Kojima is feeling sorry for himself lately. After he lost to Aoki in the opener he apologised to him for being the weakest wrestler in DDT right now. Aoki lifted his spirits by telling him he only has room to grow. During the match Kojima tried to give Aoki a Triangle Choke which Aoki described as a good attempt. He left him with encouragement to get stronger.

MAO is bringing back the Hardcore Judo match that was created for a DDT Extreme Title match last year. This time the freelance deathmatch wrestler Takayuki Ueki will be his opponent. Ueki also has an atheltic background in judo.

Speaking of the Hardcore Judo gimmick, Shinya Aoki will also be on the show facing Toui Kojima.

BASARA “BASARA 173 ~FUDO FUKUTSU~” Results

October 24, 2021

BASARA “BASARA 173 ~FUDO FUKUTSU~”, 24/10/2021
Tokyo Korakuen Hall
??? Fans – Withheld

1. FUMA & Yusuke Kubo defeated Takato Nakano & Lil Kraken when FUMA submitted Kraken with a Stretch Muffler (6:05).
2. Gouma & Yasu Urano defeated Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi & Daichi Kazato when Urano pinned Kazato with a Diving Body Press (6:16).
3. SAGAT defeated Masato Kamino with the Goregrind (9:17).
4. UWA World 6-Man Tag Team Titles: Toru Owashi, Shuji Kondo & Takuya Sugawara defeated Isami Kodaka, Daiki Shimomura & Yuko Miyamoto when Kondo pinned Shimomura with the King Kong Lariat (12:41).
*Aagan Iisou become the 69th UWA World 6-Man Tag Team Champions!
5. IRON FIST Tag Titles: Tsutomu Oosugi & Banana Senga defeated Fuminori Abe & Takuya Nomura (c) when Oosugi pinned Abe with the Tsuki no Ishi (17:24).
*Astronauts fail in V3. Speed Of Sounds become the 5th IRON FIST Tag Champions!
6. Union MAX Title: Ryota Nakatsu defeated Takumi Tsukamoto (c) with the V Slider (19:57).
*Takumi Tsukamoto fails in V7. Ryota Nakatsu becomes the 16th Union MAX Champion!

Ryota Nakatsu is now a two time Union MAX Champion after beating Takumi Tsukamoto. There was a High Kick in the match that Tsukamoto said blew away all of the memories he had since waking up this morning. The result gives the former champion mixed emotions. He is both extremely disappointed he lost and extremely happy to see Nakatsu as the champion again. He told Nakatsu to make good use of the MAX Title because he will win it back some day. Nakatsu wants to beat Tsukamoto’s reign of six defences so will aim to make seven. SAGAT came out and asked to be the first challenger. It will be Sparky Vs Sparky for the MAX Title!

Speed Of Sounds reclaims the IRON FIST Tag Titles from Astronauts! Teamwork was the key to this result. Tsutomu Oosugi praised his partner Banana Senga for being there at the right time, every time. He said if you ever want to win tag team championships, you have to have Senga as your tag partner. Over on the Astronauts side, Fuminori Abe & Takuya Nomura agreed that they lost because they wrestled more like two individuals instead of a team. However, Abe thinks Astronauts are still one of the top tag teams around. It’s up to them to start from the beginning again and improve each other as a team.

The UWA World 6-Man Tag Team Titles now belong to Toru Owashi, Shuji Kondo & Takuya Sugawara. It’s Aagan Iisou reunited! Owashi said the belts mean a lot to them because they were used by Toryumon and El Dorado when they were there. Aagan Iisou now claim management rights over the championship and where it will go next is up to them. Sugawara wrestled in BASARA for the first time and likes what he sees. He’s sure he will show up here again periodically. Owashi also praised Daiki Shimomura for how he has grown in BASARA. Isami Kodaka shares similar thoughts, feeling regret for Shimomura losing his title belt. He and Yuko Miyamoto were also happy to find out Minoru Fujita was in the venue to watch today’s show.

Yasu Urano carried the Fujita Pro Wrestling School flag to the ring for his entrance. Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi moved around weirdly on his feet during the match and blamed it on gout. He later turned the match into a singing contest against Gouma.

The shaky mystery of who is behind the Lil Kraken mask is cracking even further. His tag partner Takato Nakano accidentally shouted out “Tetsuo!” when he reached out for a tag during the match.
