This morning Tokyo Joshi Pro announced that Yuka Sakazaki will be returning to AEW for an excursion next month. Sakazaki will wrestle her match with Suzume on 1st July in Japan and afterwards will travel to America for a month long stay. It will be Sakazaki’s first time wrestling in USA since February 2020, before the Covid-19 pandemic became global. Due to this absence, Sakazaki will not be entering this year’s Tokyo Princess Cup. Unless there is a change with Japan’s two week self isolation rule over travelling, Sakazaki will not be back in TJPW until after the 7th August show. She is guaranteed to be back wrestling on the 14th August Korakuen Hall show onwards. I figure there might be one or two episodes of “THAT’S J-PW” with her still in it that will air on WRESTLE UNIVERSE while she is gone.

Maki Itoh is now in America wrestling in AEW! This is the “scheduling conflict” that took Itoh out of yesterday’s Tokyo Joshi Pro PPV. It caught me by surprise. It shouldn’t have because the hints were there all along but it did. The schedule clash, Itoh telling Miyu Yamashita she was going away for a while, her tweets back and forth with Britt Baker and then her Twitter going quiet for pretty much an entire day. I didn’t put two and two together because I thought there was some sort of quarantine she would have had to take which would make the whole scenario impossible. Turns out all you need to enter Florida is a negative Covid-19 test from the last 72 hours and you’re good to go. Even then it would have been difficult to get from Tokyo on Saturday to Florida on Sunday which is why her appearance was kept as a surprise. The slightest delay in travel would have resulted in her missing the show. But hey, she’s in AEW for now and is already making friends… and reuniting with foes from her past like Thunder Rosa and Riho. Good luck, America. She can be a handful.

Instead, Sakisama wants to get something better looking like the Princess Tag Team Titles! It is up to The Bakuretsu Sisters to stop them. Neither Nodoka Tenma or Yuki Aino have ever beaten the previous iterations of NEO Biishiki-gun in title matches though. Like for a lot of the roster, Sakisama is a difficult road block to get past.

Sakazaki, Itoh And VENY Enter AEW Tournament

February 4, 2021

The big news related to Tokyo Joshi Pro over the last 24 hours has been AEW announcing the field for their upcoming women’s tournament. Half of the brackets will take place in Japan (it was accidentally leaked that Saitama Wrestle Butokan, aka the Ice Ribbon Dojo is being used as the venue and content has already been taped) and two wrestlers from TJPW will be involved. Yuka Sakazaki makes her long awaited return to AEW but the even bigger story is Maki Itoh will be entering too! Those who already know of her reputation are over the moon about this news. Everybody else won’t know what hit them. Asuka will also be taking part, wrestling under the name VENY which she made to become her moniker for wrestling overseas.

The contract signing for the three title matches has taken place. Rika Tatsumi made it clear her goal as the Princess Of Princess Title is to defend it for a century. When she teams with Miu Watanabe as Daydream, she thinks of ways to use Watanabe as a weapon against their opponents. So she already has ideas of how to attack Watanabe directly. It is a special match for her but she is not nervous. She has already been champion for a month and has learned to be calm about it. Watanabe thinks she has already grown thanks to wrestling against Tatsumi over the last month.

Mirai Maiumi created her own attaché case to represent her International Princess Title shot. She wants to become the champion to give courage and energy all over Japan. She promises her match will be the Miramare Shock miracle! As champion, Yuki Kamifuku purposely wants to make people feel jealousy. That way everyone will pay attention to her and Tokyo Joshi Pro.

The creation of Shin Ultra Shoka has reminded Hyper Misao of her original intentions when she became a superhero. She wants to create a superhero squad of Tokyo Joshi! There are five colours in the hero squad and two have already been filled. Red and green. That leaves blue, yellow and pink. If the Tokyo Joshingers win the Princess Tag Team Titles then they can add The Bakuretsu Sisters to their squad. Nodoka Tenma wants to be the blue ranger but she would rather still be champion. She also wants Shoko Nakajima to go back to normal so they can team with her as the Tokyo Joshi Special Effects Club again. They would even prefer Misao to join the club rather than they join the Joshingers. Yuki Aino also reminded the challengers that it’s the people that give heroes their powers and they will use that power to defend the belts.

Their match ended in a 20 minute draw and went into overtime. The sudden death rules included two count pins and it only took 22 seconds for Imanari to snatch the upset win. He advances to wrestle HUB on 25th July. Imanari is able to wrestle in Ganbare☆Wrestling this weekend but he may have to miss the next Ganpro show if he advances further in the tournament and there is a scheduling conflict.

The trainee Aona will become Moka Miyamoto when she debuts in the ring. Miyamoto comes from Kanagawa, is 160cm tall and was born on 18th March, 1999. She trained in Shotokan Karate when she was in high school and joined Tokyo Joshi Pro last fall. Her debut match was originally meant to happen on 3rd May but that show was cancelled due to the Coronavirus. Thankfully a new Korakuen Hall date was booked for later this month and her debut will now happen there.

Akiyama-gun is looking for an official unit name. So far each member proposed a name except for Jun Akiyama himself. He made a poll on Twitter with three options: NEW EXPLOSION, Re: STERNNESS and STERNNESS. NEW EXPLOSION won the poll so that is his entry. Now a second poll is up with the four possible names: NEW EXPLOSION, Junretsu (準烈), Firestar and The Beginning (ザ・ビギニング). It’s not guaranteed that the poll winner will become the official name but Akiyama will for sure make a decision in time for the July Korakuen show.

Given the situation surrounding COVID-19 in the United States and globally, WresleCon has decided to cancel its events in Tampa, FL, for April 2020, and that includes our show “TJPW is COMING TO AMERICA with DDT”.

Refunds will be issued through WrestleCon.

It is unfortunate that we will not be able to hold our show for you next month, but still look forward to the next opportunity in which we will get to showcase our talent for the international fans live.

Lastly, we would like to express our best wishes to the WrestleCon team who have been great to work with, and to all wrestling fans who have been affected by the situation.

A few things about this show. It is being held at Saitama Super Arena empty arena style. This was the plan before the Coronavirus situation appeared. The DDT Extreme Title bout will not be the only match happening. Atsushi Onita will be there expecting to have a Current Blast Death Match of some sort. Oh and now Danshoku Dieno is angry that he was booked without being told so he is forming a locker room coup to wage war against Sanshiro Takagi.

Miyako Matsumoto spent yesterday undergoing special ramen training in Shibuya. It was Munenori Sawa’s idea because cooks put their soul into their food just like how wrestlers put their soul into their performance. If Matsumoto can create delicious ramen then the Gake no Fuchi Joshi show this week will surely succeed! After a four hour training course, Matsumoto created her ramen dish and was gifted a 500 yen coin by the chef. Sawa called it a great first step that shows how Gake no Fuchi Joshi can become more and more valuable.

The match name is sort of misleading. Originally Ganbare☆Wrestling began in 2013 and regularly ran shows for the year. It then took a break in the first few months of 2014 to relaunch as a “major sports league” in April of that year. So this match is the 6th Anniversary of the relaunch.

Ganpro celebrates its anniversary with a return to the promotion’s deepest feud. Minoru Fujita and the Tomodachi-gun unit were a thorn in Ken Ohka’s side from 2015 to 2016. Now Fujita has revived it for the special occasion with one of the original members Hagane Shinno (he was wrestling under the name Madoka back then). Keisuke Ishii gets to find out for himself what this unit was like to fight.

Since the last dojo show worked out so well for Tokyo Joshi Pro, they’re back for another one to keep themselves busy. The format this time is a three team tournament with each wrestler placed in a team depending on their costume colours. The girls in red and pink are in Team Red, the girls in blue and purple are in Team Blue and the girls in yellow and orange are in Team Yellow.

Each match is worth 2 points for a win and 1 point for a draw. If at the end of the tournament there is a tie for first place then a bonus One Count Fall match will take place featuring one chosen wrestler from each contesting team. A prize will be given to the winning team but it has not been determined yet.

BASARA rookie Tetsuo Usui isn’t even five months into his active pro wrestling career and he’s already gotten into a feud. He is now part of the bigger picture that is Ganpro Vs BASARA.
