*Tetsuya Endo fails in V4. Jun Akiyama becomes the 76th KO-D Openweight Champion!

The first “Big Match” show for DDT in 2021 took place in Culttz Kawasaki where fans got to see Jun Akiyama climb back up to the summit and become the new KO-D Openweight Champion! With Kenta Kobashi watching from ringside, Akiyama defeated Tetsuya Endo to avenge the D-Ou Grand Prix loss to him back in November. Endo’s plan was to target Akiyama’s surgically repaired knee to immobilise him. Akiyama had to throw big moves like Piledrivers and different Suplexes to wear down the champion in return. Endo kept kicking out of Exploder Suplexes including one from the top rope. He went high risk with the Shooting Star Press but missed, giving Akiyama the opening to hit his Knee Strikes. Endo kicked out once more this time from the Wrist-Clutch Exploder. It took an open leg Sternness Dust α to finally put Endo down and out to cause the title change.

Kobashi presented Akiyama with the KO-D Title after the match. He wanted to wrap it around his waist but Akiyama refused him. Akiyama said Endo was the best and he was only able to beat him by a small margin today. He doesn’t know if he could do it again, so he is going to borrow this championship for a while. Endo shouted he will get it back and then left. Akiyama then said he cannot wear the title around his waist until he beats the other DDT wrestler he lost against in the Grand Prix. He wants his first defence to be against Kazusada Higuchi! Akiyama then referenced the WRESTLE UNIVERSE servers going down during the main event and joked about using Danshoku Dieno’s anal server to power it back up (that will be explained below).

In order to prepare for his DDT UNIVERSAL Title defence, Yuki Ueno went to train Jiu-Jitsu under Shinya Aoki so he could learn how to defend himself from Yukio Sakaguchi’s Sleeper Hold. The game plan he put together was to take out Sakaguchi’s left arm and strike first with counters. That was how he cut off the God’s Right Knee with a Dropkick. Sakaguchi wouldn’t die though even when Ueno gave him the WR. Sakaguchi instead tried to shake it off and go straight for the Sleeper Hold. But Ueno’s training paid off and he reversed the submission, choking out Sakaguchi until the match was stopped. Sakaguchi was woken up by medical staff and still had the power to hand the belt over to the champion. Ueno told him he doesn’t have any unpleasant feelings towards him. He was a little luckier today but little by little he is improving. Ueno then said in a few years time he wants to be as cool and scary as Sakaguchi is.

Yuki Iino made a triumphant return by leading ALL OUT to victory over DAMNATION. He immediately gave a Spear to Yuji Hino at the start of the match. ALL OUT all piled on top of Iino and Mad Paulie which was then broken up by a Diving Elbow from Daisuke Sasaki. A challenge of strength took place between Konosuke Takeshita and Hino when they both did Double German Suplexes to wrestlers on both teams. A ladder was bridged from the ring to the commentary table and Hino threw Shunma Katsumata onto it. Sasaki hit Iino with a chairshot behind the referee’s back but Iino shrugged it off and fought back. He got rid of Sasaki with a Lariat and then dropped Hino with a Back Flip. Paulie came in for a fight but missed the Reverse Splash. He kicked out of the Spear at one so Iino revved up for another Spear and that one got the three count. Iino and Hino had a staredown afterwards to hype up their singles match on 23rd February in Nagoya. Another story coming out of this match was Sasaki’s comments backstage. He said his goal for 2021 is to make Takeshita join DAMNATION! When ALL OUT heard that, Akito said he will make Soma Takao join the Young Communication Generation in return. Takeshita then joked that Mad Paulie will join the DDT Sauna Club.

If there is anything I will give Yukio Naya credit for, it is for getting into shape. He’s making good progress with losing weight in a bid to get into better in-ring condition. He still had a very difficult task today going with Higuchi up to fight against Smile Pissari. Naya came close to victory when he gave HARASHIMA a Back Drop. But it all fell apart when he charged right into a Somato. HARASHIMA got the space he wanted to recover and hit a second Somato for the win. HARASHIMA was happy to team with Yuji Okabayashi again and they may now have a claim to challenge for the KO-D Tag Team Titles.

The spirit of 90’s Michinoku Pro was felt throughout the Special 6-Man Tag Match. Super Delfin had a new era Delfin Gundan in the form of Chris Brookes & Maki Itoh going against the Tohoku trio of MAO, Keigo Nakamura & Mirai Maiumi. Itoh entered wearing a Gran Naniwa costume and mimicked the late wrestler’s moveset, doing Naniwa’s Crab Walk on the ropes spot to set up the Flying Big Head finish. Delfin said this match happened a day after an earthquake happened in the Tohoku region, almost a decade after the 2011 earthquake. He hopes it will be safe enough for them to do a rematch over there some day. Brookes said it was a dream come true to team with Delfin because he is a cornerstone of the innovative junior heavyweight style of the 90’s. Itoh said the rope walk is a lot more difficult than it looks.

It turns out Saori Anou was right to complain about having to team with Miyako Matsumoto. They had a few too many miscommunications that caused their tag team to fall apart. Anou got sick of getting knocked around by her own tag partner that she gave Matsumoto a Fisherman Buster and left her out to dry. Maya Yukihi hit Matsumoto with the Jumping Super Kick and Saki Akai finished her off with the Rookie Award. Akai, Yukihi and Anou then did a group pose together and left the ring when Matsumoto tried to join in.

New KO-D 8-Man Tag Team Champions have been crowned! Will we see a proper title reign for once? Hell if I know! But enough about that, it’s time to finally talk about Dieno’s anal server. Kazuki Hirata began dancing unconsciously before the match because he was suffering from withdrawal symptoms after spending some time away from the dance gimmick. When he got to do dance in the ring the enthusiasm was so high that it caused a power outage in the venue. Everyone agreed to use Dieno’s backside as a power supply but the cable was not long enough. The wrestlers agreed to form a human chain from Dieno’s butt to the power source. The plan worked but the power wasn’t enough to bring the electricity back to full surge. Shinya Aoki came up with the solution to do the Hell Gate on Dieno, giving the anal power source the energy Dieno needed to power up the building again. Hirata got to dance and pin Sanshiro Takagi to win the titles.

The new rivalry between Yusuke Okada and Mizuki Watase is heating up. The two got rough with each other during the opener. Watase even made it a point to make Toui Kojima submit to a Crab Hold in front of Okada while Okada was being held back by Hideki Okatani. Watase is looking forward to their singles match because he now has a burning heart that wasn’t there before.

1. Mizuki Watase & Hideki Okatani Vs Yusuke Okada & Toui Kojima

7. DDT UNIVERSAL Title: Yuki Ueno (c) Vs Yukio Sakaguchi
8. KO-D Openweight Title: Tetsuya Endo (c) Vs Jun Akiyama

When we last left Tetsuya Endo, he teased about having a secret training partner to help him prepare for Jun Akiyama. His only hint was this trainer is somebody who knows Akiyama inside and out. Well the secret has been revealed and that trainer is Kenta Kobashi! Endo has been training at Kobashi’s fitness gym in Tokyo after he approached Kobashi for advice. Kobashi knew about Endo beating Akiyama during the D-Ou Grand Prix but explained that a tournament match is different from a championship match. Akiyama won’t allow himself to lose to the same opponent twice in a row. He will also be more ruthless because he is now a freelancer and failing to win a championship will affect his wrestling career more than usual. His advice to Endo is to ruthlessly target Akiyama’s knees, especially the left one that he just had surgery on. If Endo can make Akiyama panic, then Endo has a chance to win. Simply doing the same stuff he did in the Grand Prix match won’t work a second time. Kobashi wants Endo to be bold and dynamic to broaden his wrestling style.

Kobashi is throwing his support behind Endo to defend the KO-D Openweight Title. He hopes to see Endo get fired up to do the Shooting Star Press just like he he used to fire up before doing the Moonsault. He also gave Endo dating advice when he found out Endo is single. Endo explained his type to him. He likes women with big boobs such as Tomomi Morisaki. Kobashi bragged about meeting Morisaki at a public event just one month ago. Also as a champion, he explained if Endo treats the belt well the belt will be happy and will always come back to him.

Kobashi will attend the show to provide special guest commentary for the main event. Akiyama has since pointed out that whenever Kobashi appears to watch his title matches, he usually wins.

Yuki Ueno is hoping to clear out all of his bitter memories of Yukio Sakaguchi beating him up. If he successfully defends the DDT UNIVERSAL Title against him then he can spend the rest of 2021 having fun and loving saunas. Ueno has been getting advice from Shinya Aoki to prepare for the match. Sakaguchi thinks the message that has been sent over the last few weeks is he’s strong while Ueno is weak. The two met for commemorative photo during the week and Sakaguchi tried to grab the belt from Ueno. Ueno told him if he wants to take pictures with the belt he should win it on the 14th. Sakaguchi punched Ueno in the stomach and posed with the belt.

Most of the women are excited for their match. Saki Akai & Maya Yukihi are motivated to team together and even form a competitive rivalry of some sort. Saori Anou on the other hand isn’t pleased to be teaming with Miyako Matsumoto. She would much rather be on the same team as Akai or Yukihi. Matsumoto says the best thing about DDT is anything is possible and you are free to do anything. To her the charm of joshi wrestling is not just the glitter but also the grime. She wants Anou to understand that so they can work as a team.

2. THE HALFEE Vs Watase Manase: Moeka Haruhi & Shu Sakurai Vs Mizuki Watase & Yuna Manase
3. Ganpro Vs Aka Rangers: Ken Ohka & Shuichiro Katsumura Vs Takashi Sasaki & GENTARO
4. GWC 6-Man Tag Team Titles: Keisuke Ishii, Kouki Iwasaki & HARUKAZE (c) Vs Asuka, Hagane Shinno & Shinichiro Tominaga
5. STOP THE Hidaka! Special Single Match: Yumehito Imanari Vs Ikuto Hidaka

I love the name of the main event. ZERO1 had “STOP THE Matsunaga”. Ganbare☆Pro gets “STOP THE Hidaka!” It’s only fitting for the ZERO1 connection that Yumehito Imanari becomes maybe the last man standing in the way of Ikuto Hidaka. Imanari made a promise to be the messiah for Ganpro.

The new GWC 6-Man Tag Team Champions already have a road map set out. The trio called DREAMS HARU TRUE want to defend the belts against Pocchari Joshi. However, Asuka demanded her team with Hagane Shinno & Shinichiro Tominaga get another shot at the titles first because she will only wrestle in Ganpro for championships. She gets what she wants because Ken Ohka is worried she will walk out of the company, especially right before she could potentially become a breakout star in the AEW women’s tournament.

Ohka gets a second chance against the Aka Rangers. That’s if they can make it to the venue in time. Takashi Sasaki & GENTARO already have another match happening at a FREEDOMS and 2AW co-promoted show in Chiba earlier that day.

Even though he no longer has the Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Title around his waist, Shota still wants to bring the independent spirit to Ganpro. He is bringing in Hyper Brave G-Valion for a match. G-Valion is from a small Tokyo promotion called BRAVES.

8. KO-D Tag Team Titles: Kazusada Higuchi & Yukio Sakaguchi (c) Vs Konosuke Takeshita & MAO

MAO is happy to see his generation are now the main eventers of DDT. It’s a fight he never wants to give up. Konosuke Takeshita agrees and said the DDT Sauna Club runs in the centre of DDT. They main event Korakuen Hall, they’re main eventing Nagoya Congress Center and now they want the KO-D Tag Team Titles to add to their growing championship haul. These are just the kind of opponents Kazusada Higuchi is looking for. Also Sakaguchi disagrees about the age thing. Everyone from HARASHIMA to Danshoku Dieno are all doing their best no matter their age.

Sakazaki, Itoh And VENY Enter AEW Tournament

February 4, 2021

The big news related to Tokyo Joshi Pro over the last 24 hours has been AEW announcing the field for their upcoming women’s tournament. Half of the brackets will take place in Japan (it was accidentally leaked that Saitama Wrestle Butokan, aka the Ice Ribbon Dojo is being used as the venue and content has already been taped) and two wrestlers from TJPW will be involved. Yuka Sakazaki makes her long awaited return to AEW but the even bigger story is Maki Itoh will be entering too! Those who already know of her reputation are over the moon about this news. Everybody else won’t know what hit them. Asuka will also be taking part, wrestling under the name VENY which she made to become her moniker for wrestling overseas.

6. International Princess Title: Yuki Kamifuku (c) Vs Mirai Maiumi
7. Princess Of Princess Title: Rika Tatsumi (c) Vs Miu Watanabe

The contract signing for the three title matches has taken place. Rika Tatsumi made it clear her goal as the Princess Of Princess Title is to defend it for a century. When she teams with Miu Watanabe as Daydream, she thinks of ways to use Watanabe as a weapon against their opponents. So she already has ideas of how to attack Watanabe directly. It is a special match for her but she is not nervous. She has already been champion for a month and has learned to be calm about it. Watanabe thinks she has already grown thanks to wrestling against Tatsumi over the last month.

Mirai Maiumi created her own attaché case to represent her International Princess Title shot. She wants to become the champion to give courage and energy all over Japan. She promises her match will be the Miramare Shock miracle! As champion, Yuki Kamifuku purposely wants to make people feel jealousy. That way everyone will pay attention to her and Tokyo Joshi Pro.

The creation of Shin Ultra Shoka has reminded Hyper Misao of her original intentions when she became a superhero. She wants to create a superhero squad of Tokyo Joshi! There are five colours in the hero squad and two have already been filled. Red and green. That leaves blue, yellow and pink. If the Tokyo Joshingers win the Princess Tag Team Titles then they can add The Bakuretsu Sisters to their squad. Nodoka Tenma wants to be the blue ranger but she would rather still be champion. She also wants Shoko Nakajima to go back to normal so they can team with her as the Tokyo Joshi Special Effects Club again. They would even prefer Misao to join the club rather than they join the Joshingers. Yuki Aino also reminded the challengers that it’s the people that give heroes their powers and they will use that power to defend the belts.

However, Shota still has an Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Title defence against Arata taking place in JUST TAP OUT on 15th January. If he loses the title there then his rematch with Urano will become just a normal singles match. Urano wants his match to have consequences and is trying to get Shota to put his hair on the line if he no longer has the championship.

Ikuto Hidaka continues to blaze through the Ganbare☆Pro roster. Shuichiro Katsumura is next to face him, both because he is defending Ganpro’s honour and he wants to face strong opponents.

Somebody tell Yuki Ueno not to poke the wolf. Yukio Sakaguchi made it clear he will choke out anyone who sides with Ueno up until the DDT UNIVERSAL Title match. So Ueno joking about Sakaguchi wanting to pose with the title belt whenever he wins is only going to make fighting him worse.

The full squads for the vacant KO-D 8-Man Tag Team Titles match have been decided. For once it looks like the whichever team wins can be relied on to appear on the same shows consistantly enough to defend the belts.

Smile Pissari will be fighting the heavyweight team of Kazusada Higuchi & Yukio Naya. Naya’s progress (or lack of it) in the ring has been the story of his DDT run so far. HARASHIMA believes he is getting better and looks forward to fighting Naya at his strongest. If that doesn’t work at least we get Yuji Okabayashi and Higuchi in the same match out of this.

DDT “FRIENDSHIP, EFFORT, VICTORY IN NAGOYA 2021”, 23/02/2021
Nagoya Congress Center Event Hall

1. Hiroshi Yamato & Nobuhiro Shimatani Vs Yusuke Okada & Keigo Nakamura
2. Toru Owashi & Yukio Naya Vs Soma Takao & Mad Paulie
3. Chris Brookes & Maki Itoh Vs Antonio Honda & Saki Akai
4. DAMNATION Vs DDT Sauna Club!: Tetsuya Endo & Daisuke Sasaki Vs Yuki Ueno & Shunma Katsumata
5. Junretsu Vs #STRONGHEARTS: Jun Akiyama, Makoto Oishi, Mizuki Watase & Hideki Okatani Vs CIMA, T-Hawk, El Lindaman & Shigehiro Irie
6. DDT Megatonweight Single Match: Yuji Hino Vs Yuki Iino
7. KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles: Akito, Kazuki Hirata & Shota (c) Vs Sanshiro Takagi, HARASHIMA & Danshoku Dieno
8. KO-D Tag Team Titles: Kazusada Higuchi & Yukio Sakaguchi (c) Vs Konosuke Takeshita & MAO

Some goofiness from Shunma Katsumata has led to the DDT Sauna Club getting the next crack at the KO-D Tag Team Titles. Katsumata wanted himself, Konosuke Takeshita & MAO to challenge the champions 3 on 2. That’s not allowed so he suggested only Takeshita & MAO get the title match instead. What a good friend. Too bad Sakaguchi knocked him out afterwards.

The #DAMNHEARTS business alliance between DAMNATION and #STRONGHEARTS is no more. CIMA and his associates are now no longer involved with DAMNATION’s activities. If they’re sticking around in DDT they will be going their own direction. Shigehiro Irie is coming back to DDT for a full scale 8-Man Tag against Junretsu.

Chris Brookes has had enough of Antonio Honda’s antics. So much so he is bringing Maki Itoh in to cause some trouble. Saki Akai has Honda’s back though.

6. KO-D Tag Team Titles: Kazusada Higuchi & Yukio Sakaguchi (c) Vs CIMA & Soma Takao
7. DDT UNIVERSAL Title: Yuki Ueno (c) Vs Shota

Shota is having a late career resurgence, winning the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles and Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Title in short succession. He believes that is why Yuki Ueno accepted his challenge for the DDT UNIVERSAL Title. Shota wants to become a leader of the independent scene in 2021 and travel around the world for wrestling. He thinks winning the UNIVERSAL Title will get him overseas bookings. Ueno didn’t want to end 2020 with him getting pinned by Shota so his new year resolution is to avenge that loss as soon as possible. He should respect Shota more and not look down on that result but as the UNIVERSAL Champion he has a standard to live up to. He must not let the title go to someone who can’t decide if he is indie or major.

Unless he shows up on 3rd January, this is Daisuke Sasaki’s return match from injury.

She also wants it to be a Street Fight because of the championship’s origins with FMW.

Ikuto Hidaka’s appearances in Ganpro this year was to show he still has a lot left in the tank despite his age. Keisuke Ishii wants to see it for himself after he beat Hidaka in a tag match a few days ago.

2. Special 6-Man Tag Match: Super Delfin, Chris Brookes & Maki Itoh Vs MAO, Keigo Nakamura & Mirai Maiumi
3. KO-D Openweight Title: Tetsuya Endo (c) Vs Jun Akiyama

The D-Ou Grand Prix is over for another year and the winner Jun Akiyama gets the KO-D Openweight Title shot against Tetsuya Endo in February. Akiyama put over Endo and the KO-D Title huge by including Endo with Tetsuya Naito and Go Shiozaki as the only three champions that matter to him. Endo did beat Akiyama in their D-Ou group match so Akiyama needs to fight his heart out if he wants to win. Endo watched the final between Akiyama and Konosuke Takeshita, leaving him with some strong opinions. He can tell the difference between the two wrestlers. According to Endo, Takeshita only thinks about himself while Akiyama is thinking about the entire wrestling industry. Endo likes the praise of his title reign he is getting from Akiyama and it makes him proud of increasing the KO-D Title’s value. So when Endo beats Akiyama again in Culttz Kawasaki, he will call the KO-D Title the number one championship in Japan and himself the number one wrestler in Japan!

2. KO-D 8-Man Tag Team Titles: Sanshiro Takagi, X, X & X Vs Shinya Aoki, X, X & X
3. KO-D Openweight Title: Tetsuya Endo (c) Vs D-Ou Grand Prix 2021 Winner

The KO-D 10-Man Tag Team Titles have not been defended since November last year. Today the championship has been vacated because of inactivity and a temporary change is being made because of COVID-19. The championship will temporarily become the KO-D 8-Man Tag Team Titles and new champions will be crowned on 14th February. It is still part of the same title lineage as the 10-Man Tag Titles so the winners will be recognised as the 3rd champion team.

Sanshiro Takagi and Shinya Aoki will captain the two teams. Takagi says the 8-Man Tag matches will be fought with the same passion as the 10-Man Tag Matches. Aoki promised to get revenge on Takagi for humiliating him at “ULTIMATE PARTY 2020” last month.

5. Current Explosion Death Match: Atsushi Onita (w/ Sanshiro Takagi, Chris Brookes & Maki Itoh) Vs Kuro-chan (w/ Shinya Aoki, Super Sasadango Machine & Yuki Kamifuku)

Kuro-chan held a public training session with his helpers Shinya Aoki, Super Sasadango Machine & Yuki Kamifuku earlier today. Sasadango told Kuro-chan that to be a successful wrestler you need to figure out your opponent’s weaknesses. Atsushi Onita’s weakness is his knees. Aoki was there to teach Kuro-chan submission holds to target the knee. Kamifuku was the closest in size to Onita out of the four so she had to spar with Kuro-chan. They then immediately stopped because Kuro-chan was tempted to lick her knees. Aoki had to demonstrate the submissions on Kuro-chan instead. When that painful exercise was finished, Sasadango then told Kuro-chan he can in fact lick Onita’s knee to exploit his weakness! Sasadango explained Kuro-chan’s saliva can rust the artificial joints in Onita’s knees and ordered him to lick his own knee for practice. When asked to give a message to Onita, Kuro-chan threatened to lick and kill him!

7. D-Ou Grand Prix 2021 – Final: Konosuke Takeshita vs Jun Akiyama

The D-Ou Grand Prix finalists met for a press conference yesterday to comment on their upcoming rematch. Konosuke Takeshita said when he lost to Jun Akiyama at “ULTIMATE PARTY 2020” it left him questioning his wrestling ways. It hasn’t been easy for him to find the answer he was looking for. But soon he can get his revenge in order to truly lead DDT. Then he can stand across the ring from Tetsuya Endo and reignite their feud over the KO-D Openweight Title. Even though Takeshita has held the KO-D Title many times and holds the defence record, he never won a Tokyo Sports Award during that period (he only ever won Best Newcomer for his debut year). Endo on the other hand won the Best Skill category for this year. That is what’s motivating Takeshita to go after the title again. As for his injured left arm, Takeshita promises to be at 100% on the day of the final.

Akiyama said he didn’t reach the final on his own. He got here because of Junretsu, in particular Makoto Oishi. This final is just as much for him. Akiyama came to DDT alone and was quickly welcomed by Oishi leading to Junretsu’s formation. He realized the importance of the team and also having them in his circle of friends because of how much they helped him. But Akiyama thinks nothing has changed in the rivalry between himself and Takeshita.

Tokyo Korakuen Hall

1. KO-D Tag Team Titles: Kazusada Higuchi & Yukio Sakaguchi (c) Vs CIMA & Soma Takao

Eruption’s first KO-D Tag Team Titles defence will be against CimaSoma. The champions need to reclaim some shine after they unexpectedly lost the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles. The challengers meanwhile should be coming in hot after they beat HarashiMarufuji last month.

Culttz Kawasaki

1. Special 6-Man Tag Match: Super Delfin, Chris Brookes & Maki Itoh Vs MAO, Keigo Nakamura & Mirai Maiumi
2. KO-D Openweight Title: Tetsuya Endo (c) Vs D-Ou Grand Prix 2021 Winner

A special trio is coming together to face a team filled with Tohoku flavour. Maki Itoh has a regular column in Shukan Puroresu magazine and one of her articles revealed she became a fan of the late Gran Naniwa after seeing Chris Brookes post clips of him on Twitter. When Super Delfin found out about this from Naniwa’s father, he wanted to team with her whenever it was possible. This leads to the return of the Itoh Respect Army (the NEO part seems to be gone) to team with Delfin in Culttz Kawasaki next February. Itoh hopes she can learn the Swinging DDT from Delfin and would be grateful to become his disciple. Brookes, like any wrestling nerd, pointed to the 1994 Super J Cup to explain his original discovery of Delfin. The Tohoku part of this match also comes from their opponents. MAO is from Miyagi and is influenced by Michinoku Pro while Keigo Nakamura & Mirai Maiumi are both from Iwate.

The opening day of D-Ou Grand Prix 2021 marks Jun Akiyama’s first direct loss in DDT. He brought the fight to Tetsuya Endo by grounding him with the Front Neck Lock. He hit the Knee Stikes and Exploder Suplexes but Endo couldn’t be beat with them. Akiyama went for the Wrist Clutch Exploder but Endo escaped and countered with an Overhead Kick. With Endo taking control he hit a Handspring Overhead Kick and the Swivel Torture Rack Bomb for a nearfall. Akiyama couldn’t get back up so he became a sitting duck for the Shooting Star Press. Endo laughed after the match and said this was a dream. No it’s not, it’s reality and he really did just beat Akiyama! Before the tournament began, Endo said he would abstain from the rest of the Grand Prix if he won the main event today. But he’s feeling so good now he decided he will complete his remaining matches after all and win D-Ou 2021!

The other singles champion also made a good leap out of the starting blocks. Yuki Ueno had a big wall in the form of Kazusada Higuchi standing in front of him. Very little seemed to make Higuchi budge until Ueno caught him with the Blizzard Suplex. Ueno wore him down with a Northern Lights Bomb and the Frog Splash but Higuchi was still kicking out. Ueno then hit the BME but rather than pin him straight away, he instead used the WR to make sure Higuchi was down and out. Ueno called the result a big confidence boost. He couldn’t envision beating Higuchi and he feels like he used up all his luck to achieve this. But he is also the DDT UNIVERSAL Champion and he won as decisively as possible. He hopes this makes the fans see him as the champion to watch in the Grand Prix.

The memory of NωA flowed through the match between Shunma Katsumata and Makoto Oishi. Katsumata came down to the ring wearing an NωA shirt and used it to choke Oishi when they fought outside the ring. Oishi went for the Fujiyama Knee Lock when Katsumata missed the Stuka Splash. He couldn’t get it at first but he put his opponent in a Calf Killer and switched to the Knee Lock for the tap out win. Katsumata was upset and thought he was already eliminated but a reporter reminded him it is a league format. Oishi is now looking forward to his match with Akiyama in Osaka on 29th November. He was a little upset with Katsumata wearing the NωA shirt but he got one back by saying he beat a member of both ALL OUT and the DDT Sauna Club.

The early half of the show was focused on the A Block matches. Daisuke Sasaki celebrated his birthday with a big victory over Konosuke Takeshita. Sasaki was thrown around with German Suplexes but he caught Takeshita in the Crossover Facelock while Takeshita was still on his feet. Takeshita’s energy was sapped out of him and when he fell to the mat in the hold he gave up. Backstage Sasaki had a message for Takeshita. If you have any doubts, just come to DAMNATION! When Takeshita received that message he said that’s one way he could change himself. He then walked off.

Chris Brookes had a plan to target HARASHIMA’s arm. He threw it into the ring post outside, attacked it with Knee Drops and applied submissions to the limb. HARASHIMA still had his kicks and gutted through the pain to do a Falcon Arrow. His Swan Dive was countered into a Cutter but the Praying Mantis Bomb from Brookes was then countered into a Short Range Somato. HARASHIMA then hit the proper Somato to take the win. He was suprised to see Brookes do so much today because he thought he would have been careful in their first tournament match. Brookes admitted the D-Ou is a very challenging tournament because it throws so many singles matches at you in a short amount of time. He had a slow start last year but he ended up doing great at the end so he hopes it will be the same this year. He also promoted Masahiro Takanashi’s return show and said he feels 10 times stronger than usual because Takanashi is in his corner.

MAO excitedly told everyone today was the opening round of the tournament. At one point in his match, MAO got tangled upside down in the turnbuckle. Akito went to attack him until Daisuke Kiso kept him back and set MAO free. MAO then tried using Kiso as a shield for the rest of the match. Akito sent MAO into a scramble of pins and cradles that led to Akito using the Octopus Dream to grab the three count. MAO was disappointed that the British style of wrestling he learned wasn’t enough to beat Akito. But still, Akito could see improvement in MAO. He’s only just come back from injury after all. Akito also purposely came up with moves that would surpass the British style too. He doesn’t think the D-Ou will be interesting this year unless everybody switches up their fighting styles.

Before the 4 Way Tag Match took place, Kazuki Hirata brought out a cardboard championship called the DDT Variety Championship. He said the winner of the match would be given the title because this match didn’t deserve to be the show opener. Both Danshoku Dieno and Antonio Honda were eager to win it but Soma Takao didn’t care so he attacked Hirata. Dieno set himself up in the Hell Gate position and Hirata’s Tegatana hand ended up getting wedged in there. Hirata pulled his hand out and used it to make everyone else faint. Yukio Sakaguchi avoided it and he hit Dieno in the backside with the God’s Right Knee. Sakaguchi then stuck his arm into the Hell Gate and used it to put Honda in a Sleeper Hold. Honda fainted and Sakaguchi was declared the DDT Variety Champion! Sakaguchi taunted Hirata and dared him to challenge for the belt whenever he wants. DDT does not recognise the DDT Variety Title as an official championship so it won’t be acknowledged in the results.

The pre-show match had the Junretsu team of Mizuki Watase & Hideki Okatani go over Yukio Naya & Keigo Nakamura. Watase’s Back Drop was countered by Nakamura but his attempt to follow up with a Hurricanrana was rolled back into a cradle for the three count.

A new trainee makes his debut on 27th December. Toui Kojima will face Hideki Okatani on the next Korakuen Hall show. Kojima introduced himself to the fans in a relaxed manner. Hisaya Imabayashi wanted him to make it sound like a bigger deal so Imabayashi repeated the news in a more exciting way.

Danshoku Dieno announced a full scale war between the DDT and Big Japan mascots. Pokotan Vs Death Kamo will happen on 4th December!

Akito announced the card of matches for the 24th December BOYZ show. He and Imabayashi asked if anybody had anything important going on for Christmas Eve? Toru Owashi raised his hand because that day is also his birthday but everyone ignored him.

The next Hiragana Muscle show will take place in Korakuen on 9th March. They will also hold a show in Osaka on 18th March.

Takanashi promoted his self-produced return show on 19th January. He said the timetable for his full time return is currently blank because he hasn’t decided when he will return to DDT yet. However if Brookes wins the D-Ou Grand Prix and goes on to main event Culttz Kawasaki next year, he will definitely be there no matter what happens.

It was revealed that the winner of the D-Ou Grand Prix will receive a KO-D Openweight Title match at the 14th February Culttz Kawasaki show next year. Also taking place in February is a big show held in Nagoya Congress Center on the 23rd. It will be the first time in 5 years DDT will be holding a major show in Nagoya.

Endo then explained his treatment of Daisuke Sasaki over the last couple of weeks including banishing him from DAMNATION was all done to guarantee he would get the most serious match out of him. He doesn’t hate him and it’s all water under the bridge now. Finally, Endo announced that Nobuhiro Shimatani has been promoted from a temporary DAMNATION member to an official full time member. DDT “DDT TV SHOW! #11”, 08/11/2020
DDT TV SHOW Studio

1. O-40 Title: Gorgeous Matsuno (c) Vs Toru Owashi
2. DDT UNIVERSAL Title: Yuki Ueno (c) Vs MAO

He’s been gone for over four months but MAO thinks he is already good enough to get a title shot after one match back. He hopes if he wins the DDT UNIVERSAL Title he can show the belt off to the mayor of Osaki and become an ambassador for his hometown just like Endo became one for Shiroishi. Yuki Ueno is looking forward to defending the title against another DNA wrestler. Ueno was only part of that brand for a year or two before it was suspended so he didn’t get to wrestle MAO as much over there. That MAO approached him to make the challenge makes Ueno happy.

DDT TV SHOW Studio

1. KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles: Kazusada Higuchi, Yukio Sakaguchi & Saki Akai (c) Vs Akito, Kazuki Hirata & Shota

Long before DNA there was another brand associated with DDT that was dedicated to giving the young wrestlers ring time. Monthly Young Communication existed a decade ago where the likes of Akito, Kazuki Hirata and Shota got to wrestle with each other. This was long before any member of Eruption joined DDT so the reemergence of this brand to challenge them for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles surprised them. But they said they will take on any trio who wants to take them on so the titles are on the line.

DDT “KAWASAKI STRONG 2021”, 14/02/2021
Culttz Kawasaki

1. KO-D Openweight Title: Tetsuya Endo (c) Vs X

Normally DDT holds two major shows a year in venues such as Sumo Hall or Ota Ward Gymnasium. The Coronavirus pandemic has forced them to reconsider the schedule and attempt more shows in bigger venues. It’s hard to say if Sumo Hall will be available for DDT in 2021 because of the rescheduled Olympic Games. It has also been difficult for DDT to find a venue that will allow 1,000+ fans to attend their show. Also there are cities in Japan where the population are staying put rather than travelling to Tokyo for their entertainment. So DDT are attempting to hold a major show outside of Tokyo, choosing the Culttz Kawasaki venue in Kawasaki as their spot. For now the only match attached to the card is a KO-D Openweight Title defence. It’s not confirmed yet if the D-Ou Grand Prix winner will be the challenger but that’s usually how it goes.
