Keisuke Ishii has been going through a slump ever since he lost the AJPW Jr. Title. He figured out that in order to solve his problem, he should look back to his origin. He should go back to 2007 when he was a trainee in the All Japan dojo. Ishii has asked Kaz Hayashi, who was an attendant of the dojo at the time, to come help him out. Hayashi remembers Ishii from the dojo. So many new recruits sign up and quit over the years that it is easy to lose track but Hayashi said he has an intense memory of the day Ishii quit. Normally when trainees quit the dojo they escape during the middle of the night without telling anybody. But Ishii simply apologised to his trainers, told them he was quitting and left. Ishii remembered an exercise where the trainees had to run behind a Porsche car for 25km. When it was Ishii’s turn to drive the Porsche he was so nervous of causing an accident that he stepped on the brakes a lot. Hayashi doesn’t remember this story but joked that the Porsche does have a scratch on it. He is happy to answer Ishii’s request for help.

Sanshiro Takagi & Ken Ohka Vs Danshoku Dino & Super Sasadango Machine was originally supposed to be a part of this show. Ohka feels indebted to Takagi, Dino and Sasadango for his career and hopes to repay them. Dino & Sasadango both found his comments funny and they wondered why Ohka was going to help Takagi beat them. They called him a slave and said Atsushi Onita would cry if he found out what Ohka was doing. They riled up Ohka so much that he demanded to switch sides so all three of them could beat Takagi 3 on 1. Amon Tusurmi obliged for some reason.

Danny Duggan is coming over from Canadian Wrestling’s Elite. He will be wrestling at Ganbare☆Wrestling the day before too.

Kazuki Hirata was intimidated by Yukio Sakaguchi’s presence in the main event. He hesitated to shake his hand before the match but eventually did so. Sakaguchi refused to let go until Hirata pulled hard enough to break it. He then angered Sakaguchi by calling him disgusting. Hirata quickly apologised to Sakaguchi’s hand and then tagged out.

Daisuke Sasaki struck Yuki Ueno below to belt behind the referee’s back to lead into the Cross Facelock finish.

The grudge between BOYZ and YaroZ continued when Nobuhiro Shimatani faced Antonio Honda. Pride was on the line because Shimatani felt it was his duty to defend his BOYZ home. Honda wasted no time getting into the ring to fight his opponent and he put him away with the Scorpion Death Drop followed by a Jumping Elbow Drop.

Masahiro Takanashi is continuing his streak of winning matches by countout. This time he was creative. He got Chinsuke Nakamura to act as his body double to distract Rekka during the ringside brawl. Rekka fell for the trap and by the time he realised he was attacking the wrong person, Takanashi Dropkicked him and rushed back to the ring in time to get the countout victory.

The BOYZ all wore peach coloured clothing during the opening introductions to celebrate the Peach Festival.

Today’s show was built around a team challenge with HARASHIMA and Makoto Oishi as captains. According to Johnny Etajima, there has been a long standing conflict between the two wrestlers in BOYZ. Special rules were put in place for the tournament matches such as two count pinfalls for needed to win and 5 counts outside the ring being enough to DQ wrestlers. In the opening introductions everyone wore football uniforms. HARASHIMA said his team was going to win because he has so many friends.

Team Oishi took the lead by winning the first three matches. Team HARASHIMA won Match #4 but was still down by two when intermission hit and half time was called. HARASHIMA still had faith in his friends to win the remaining matches. Oishi blamed Yasu Urano for giving their team their only loss up to this point. Urano was counted out when Masahiro Takanashi threw a football at him as he tried to re-enter the ring. A time limit draw between Konosuke Takeshita and Keisuke Ishii then meant that Team HARASHIMA could no longer score enough points to win the challenge. All they could do now was score enough points to reach a tie. Akito sent the team off on the right track by submitting Oishi in the penultimate match. Then in the main event Oishi instructed MAO run away from HARASHIMA until the time ran out because a draw is enough to give them total victory. Unfortunately HARASHIMA pinned MAO with the Somato, ending the challenge in a draw.

Etajima announced that a winner would be decided by sudden death overtime. Each team would send forth one wrestler and the first to get a one count pinfall would win the entire challenge. HARASHIMA picked himself while Oishi lined up his team’s strongest wrestlers on the apron. However he spent so much time in the ring that Etajima thought Oishi was nominating himself. The bell rang and HARASHIMA did move after move trying to pin Oishi with no success. Oishi got the pinfall out of nowhere when he countered the Double Knee Gutbuster into a Cradle. Oishi celebrated by singing with the rest of NωA while his other teammates celebrated.

A special team challenge series was put together by BOYZ president Johnny Etajima. HARASHIMA and Makoto Oishi are the team captains. Each match in the challenge has a 10 minute time limit, a 2 count for rope breaks and a 5 count for being outside the ring. The first Korakuen Hall show of the DDT UNIVERSE launch will determine the main event of “JUDGEMENT 2017” in Saitama Super Arena this March. Bad blood is growing between HARASHIMA and Daisuke Sasaki over the KO-D Openweight Title. Meanwhile Konosuke Takeshita and KUDO won their playoff matches to reach the final but only one will get the KO-D Title shot at DDT’s 20th Anniversary.

Yasu Urano spent the last week acting coy about wanting to challenge for the AJPW Jr. Title. He’s now getting what he wants and that’s a title match against Keisuke Ishii. Urano promises to wrestle clean but Ishii doesn’t believe him.

Yeah, DDT thinks getting Dino out there for the match promoting DDT UNIVERSE is the best idea. I mean at this point if you’re subscribing to it you have to know what to expect.

Most of the wrestlers wore cute rabbit costumes for the opening introductions. Daisuke Sasaki & Tetsuya Endo refused to do so and didn’t appear until it was time for their match.

Yuko Miyamoto wound up getting into dueling songs with Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi when they wrestled each other. When the main event ended in a time limit draw Makoto Oishi said today was the beginning of a change happening in BOYZ. With young wrestlers like Shunma Katsumata now competing in the main event it feels like there is a big bang occurring in the universe. Oishi thinks its wonderful he gets to see the big bang happening. Everyone then danced to “FANTASTIC BABY” by BIG BANG and “R.Y.U.S.E.I.” by Sandaime J Soul Brothers from Exile Tribe. Everyone that is except for Yukio Sakaguchi who was still embarrassed by having to wear the rabbit costume earlier.

Guanchulo and Lady Beard have named their team IKT, the International Kawaii Team.

DDT Dramatic General Election 2016

As soon as “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2016” is over and done with DDT will move onto the annual DDT Dramatic General Election. This is the 7th year the competition is happening in some form, originally called the DDT48 General Election when it first took place in 2010. 41 wrestlers from DDT plus a few guests will spend all of September campaigning for votes from fans to earn a spot on the 23rd October Korakuen Hall show. Everyone who finished in the Top 20 will qualify for the main show while those who finish between #21 to #24 will be put in the dark match. The prize for 2nd Place is 300,000 yen plus a KO-D Openweight Title shot on the October show. The grand prize for the election winner is 1,000,000 yen and a main event KO-D Title match at Osaka Edion Arena #1 in December. If the KO-D Champion finishes in either first or second place then he will get to choose his challenger for that title match.

This year the field is only open to the DDT, DNA and BOYZ brands. Last year’s winner Isami Kodaka and his BASARA brand have declined to participate this year. Although they are part of the DDT Family, they now treat DDT as rivals and want to distance themselves to focus on their own projects. Tokyo Joshi Pro is also not involved but no reason has been given for their exclusion. Sadly the limited field also means Hiroshi Tanahashi is not following up on his promise last year to enter the competition. Don’t know if a deal fell through or if it was just a joke I took seriously.

1. Keisuke Ishii & Kouki Iwasaki defeated Hiroshi Fukuda & Mizuki Watase when Ishii pinned Watase with the Tiger Suplex (10:58).
2. Daisuke Sasaki defeated Rekka with the Cross Facelock (11:53).
3. Joey Ryan & Guanchulo defeated Yukio Sakaguchi & Kazuki Hirata when Ryan pinned Hirata with the Super Kick (9:04).
4. Makoto Oishi, Shunma Katsumata & Mao Inoue defeated Konosuke Takeshita, Kota Umeda & Nobuhiro Shimatani when Inoue pinned Shimatani with the 450 Splash (9:04).
5. HARASHIMA & Masa Takanashi Vs Soma Takao & Tetsuya Endo ended in a Time Limit Draw (20:00).

Before the main event began Masa Takanashi rejected a handshake from HARASHIMA. As the match reached its conclusion all four wrestlers hit a volley of moves but could not win the match. They were all exhausted when the time expired and the match was declared a draw.

The first match for NωA since its creation was a success. Shunma Katsumata hit a Lionsault on Nobuhiro Shimatani while Mao Inoue wiped out his partners with the Alien Plancha. Inoue then finished off Shimatani with the High Screw Kick and 450 Splash. The NωA led a dance routine with the other wrestlers at the end of the show. They all danced to “PERFECT HUMAN” by RADIO FISH.

This was Joey Ryan’s last match in Japan for the time being. He leaves the country with the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Championship meaning the belt will now be defended in the United States.

The wrestlers were encouraged to wear either yukatas or summer casual clothing for the opening introductions. Daisuke Sasaki refused to take part.
