It’s been almost a year and a half since the last time a BASARA show in Shin-Kiba 1st RING was held under the “KOO” branding. That meant it was not an all you can drink kind of show that you would get with the “UTAGE” events. Astronauts were confident the fans would still have fun watching them fight Speed Of Sounds for the Iron Fist Tag Team Titles. After winning the match, Fuminori Abe suggested the next opponents could include somebody like Daichi Kazato or Yasu Urano because Takuya Nomura has never gotten a chance to fight either of them.

Match #3 featured so many tags and partners running in that the teams ended up getting mixed up and everyone lost track of who they were meant to fight. It ended up with Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi & Yasu Urano knocking each other out, making KUBITO & SAGAT the winners.

Daichi Kazato and Gouma Ryu wrestled each other both knowing they are evenly matched. So they believed they could fight forever to make each other stronger. Ryu soon got the upper hand and got over confident. He lifted up Kazato into the Argentine Backbreaker but that caused his back to go out so he had to give up while still doing the move.

All of Sento Minzoku were reunited with the return of Daiki Shimomura from his year long suspension from BASARA and absence from pro wrestling in general. He lost the match but told the fans starting today he will do his best for BASARA again.

It was announced yesterday that Runa Okubo will be taking an indefinite hiatus from pro wrestling at the end of the month to focus on her education. She is currently in high school and told Tokyo Joshi Pro she’s been having difficulties with balancing pro wrestling with her studies so a decision was made by the company and her guardians to put her wrestling career on hold for the time being. Okubo’s final match for now will be against Yuki Kamifuku. Her opponent is not going to take it easy on her though. Kamifuku said she is going to pluck out Okubo’s eyes and sell them off like jewelry!

Over the weekend BASARA announced that Daiki Shimomura’s one year suspension had come to an end and he will be returning to wrestling at the end of this month. Shimomura was suspended from all BASARA related activities last October over an incident that was only reported as inappropriate behavior from his private life. To this day I still haven’t heard anything to even suggest what the incident was. But it was enough that BASARA had to make a public apology afterward while Shimomura had to disappear from wrestling for a year. His return match has him in the ring with the other members of Sento Minzoku.

All of the Right To Challenge Shields have been used up so now its back to traditional ways to get title matches. Chris Brookes challenged Shinya Aoki for the KO-D Openweight Title to see which one of them loves DDT more.

The feud between SCHADENFREUDE International and DAMNATION T.A continues with Takeshi Masada and Ilusion facing each other one on one. Ilusion wants to destroy Masada’s pretty face!

An all mascot showdown is taking place thanks to Pokotan and Touchi-kun. Originally Pokotan wanted to fight the Japan Self-Defence Force mascot but changed his tune after watching Touchi-kun’s training for the match. Now Pokotan wants to team up with Touchi-kun to take on another tag team. DDT held a press conference today annnouncing that the other team will also be made up of mascots. Oshinari-kun is the mascot for the Oshinari Shopping District and Higapyon is the mascot of Tokyo Higashi Shinkin Bank, the business that owns the naming rights for the venue. Shinichiro Kawamatsu brought the two mascots to a shrine for the announcement but didn’t expect Pokotan to show up and attack Oshinari-kun with a steel basin! However he held back from attacking Higapyon because he thinks that mascot is cute.

Tickets for the show are free so there are a lot of sponsorships up and down the card to fund the event.

2. Turnabout Pro Wrestling Trial: Yasu Urano defeated Gouma Ryu and Banana Senga when Urano pinned Ryu with a School Boy (0:10).
3. IRON FIST TAG TOURNAMENT – Round 2: Takumi Tsukamoto & SAGAT defeated Lil’ Kraken & Leo Isaka when SAGAT pinned Isaka with the Goregrind (12:50).
4. IRON FIST TAG TOURNAMENT – Round 2: Ryota Nakatsu & Kazusada Higuchi defeated Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi & Daichi Kazato when Higuchi pinned Kazato (14:58).
5. FUMA Vs Isami Kodaka ended in a Double Knockout (12:29).

The original main event featuring a Union MAX Title defence was cancelled because of Daiki Shimomura’s suspension. Instead FUMA took on Isami Kodaka in a non-title match that was put together on short notice. The match ended in a Double KO when both wrestlers hit their big attacks on each other and neither was able to get back up during the 10 Count. After the match FUMA said he was happy to fight Kodaka and since nobody won he wants to do a rematch at Korakuen Hall on 3rd December, this time with the MAX Title on the line. FUMA wants to become the ace of BASARA and he thinks he needs to beat Kodaka in BASARA’s biggest match to make that dream come true.

The IRON FIST TAG TOURNAMENT is now down to three teams. Takumi Tsukamoto & SAGAT have reached the final thanks to a bye. They will face the winners of Ryota Nakatsu & Kazusada Higuchi Vs Yasu Urano & Antonio Honda. Both matches take place on 7th November. It was confirmed that Shimomura & Minoru Fujita have vacated the IRON FIST Tag Team Titles and the belts will be awarded to the winners of the tournament.

Nakatsu & Higuchi were accompanied by the rest of Harimao for their match. Naomi Yoshimura & Yuki Ishida stood by their corner in support.

Gouma Ryu did not feel it was appropriate to have a pro wrestling trial on this show. Banana Senga objected because he did not want to be paid just to do nothing. Urano, who was supposed to be the defendant on trial told Ryu it was important to show the fans that BASARA was running their show as usual with everyone doing their best. They all agreed to do a 3 Way Match and Urano immediately pinned Ryu with a School Boy to win. Ryu promised to do a proper pro wrestling trial the next time.

At the start of the show Kodaka and the rest of the BASARA roster all apologized over the private incident that led to Shimomura’s year long suspension. Kodaka told reporters after the show that the event was saved by the fans and their support.

Alongside this, Shimomura is also taking a year long hiatus from pro wrestling in general. The company will not disclose what happened to cause this in order to protect people who have been hurt by the situation. Shimomura was supposed to face FUMA in the main event of next week’s BASARA show but that will obviously be changed. The changed card will be announced as soon as it is decided on.

Shimomura is also in the middle of the IRON FIST TAG TOURNAMENT with Minoru Fujita as the current IRON FIST Tag Team Champions. The two of them have already reached the semi-final stage and were waiting to face the winners of next week’s Takumi Tsukamoto & SAGAT Vs Lil’ Kraken & Leo Isaka match. BASARA has decided to pull Shimomura from the tournament and will instead give the winners of that match a bye straight into the final. I guess the titles will be vacated and then rewarded to the tournament winners too.

Before Yamashita travelled to America she learned who her first challenger for the Princess Of Princess Title will be at the end of this month. Regina is an 8 year veteran from Tuusula, Finland who wrestles for FCF over there. She is 166cm tall and weighs 105kg. Yamashita said she wants to be careful fighting her, especially when she found out Regina is the FCF Finnish Heavyweight Champion and has defeated larger male wrestlers in her reign. This will be their only match together on Regina’s tour of TJPW because Yamashita is in America during her other appearances. All Yamashita can do to prepare is to find videos of Regina’s matches to watch while she is away.

Free WiFi have only just won the Princess Tag Team Titles so they intend not to lose them easily. Their first challengers are Moka Miyamoto & Juria Nagano. The two of them now have a new team name: Shinken Kusho! In order to prepare for this match Nao Kakuta has done two things. She is starting to make meals in a rice cooker like Miyamoto often does. She also bought the latest FRIDAY magazine because Nagano is in the issue as the centerfold. Hikari Noa asked Nagano to write her new team name on her page in the magazine. Kakuta thinks Free WiFi is the cooler name.

Last year saw the return of DDT’s annual outdoor show at the JR Omori Station. Not only did that show return but so too did the yearly Omori World Title match. Soma Takao defeated Chikara to become the new champion last time but he currently does not have any challenger lined up for this year’s defence. Normally DDT does a Battle Royal on the same show to determine the No. 1 Contender a year in advance but that did not happen last time.

2. 3 Way Match: Daiki Shimomura defeated Isami Kodaka and Ryuichi Sekine when Shimomura pinned Sekine with the Shimomura Hurricanrana (11:08).
3. Fuminori Abe defeated A.YAZAWA by submission via Self-Report (17:19).
4. Hardcore Tag Match: Takumi Tsukamoto & Akane Fujita defeated SAGAT & Jun Masaoka when Tsukamoto pinned SAGAT with the Dragon Kicker (16:52).

Trans-Am ★ Ryota was Ryota Nakatsu, Trans-Am ★ Takato was Takato Nakano and Trans-Am ★ Ika was Lil’ Kraken all impersonating different eras of the Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi gimmick along with Hiroshi himself.

Some of the wrestlers performed karaoke before the matches began. Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi, Antonio Honda, Takumi Tsukamoto and Lil’ Kraken all took part. Kraken actually did a diss track aimed at Rikiya Shindo instead of karaoke.

IRON FIST TAG TOURNAMENT 2023

The IRON FIST TAG TOURNAMENT is back for the first time since 2020. It is also going to be the first time the reigning IRON FIST Tag Team Champions will be competing in the tournament. The 2020 tournament was held to determine the No. 1 Contenders and the 2019 edition was to crown the first champions. Every playoff match has a 30 minute time limit except for the final which has no time limit. If a match ends in a draw then both teams are eliminated. The teams taking part are:
