7. Special Tag Match: Kazusada Higuchi & Naomi Yoshimura defeated Yukio Sakaguchi & Akito when Higuchi pinned Akito with the Brain Claw Slam (18:00).

After the main event, Yukio Sakaguchi told all three members of Harimao they should join Eruption. This was not a suggestion or invitation though. It was an order! Sakaguchi is pulling the senpai card on Higuchi to add more stakes to their KO-D Openweight Title match. However Naomi Yoshimura told Higuchi afterwards it is time he gets over the past. Yoshimura was able to move on from DISASTER BOX and surpass them so it is now Higuchi’s turn to do the same with Eruption.

Kouki Iwasaki got to wrestle in his home region of Hokkaido as he prepares to go freelance. He thinks his opponent Hideki Okatani has a bad look in his eyes and those are the types of opponents he loves to fight. He’ll be teaming with Eruption tomorrow so he’s also looking forward to fight alongside Okatani.

The Pheromones match was called off when they targeted the ring announcer Ken Kato and tried to strip off his trousers. The ring apron ended up being wrapped around Kato’s waist to keep him looking decent.

All matches for “WRESTLE PRINCESS III” have now been announced but the official match order is not decided yet. Riho returns to Tokyo Joshi Pro to team up with Hikari Noa after their AEW exhibition match took place at the Tokyo Game Show. The two of them join forces to take on 121000000.

It seems like every month Suzume is being given her biggest challenges yet in her career and it continues here when Ryo Mizunami comes back to town.

On the surface Match #3 looks like a continuation between the TJPW and Ganbare☆Joshi. But look a little bit closer and you’ll see the GanJo related team is more of an Actwres girl’Z reunion of sorts! Nao Kakuta, Yuna Manase & Yoshiko Hasegawa have all come from that place but the three of them never wrestled in the same match together over there. Can the trio gel against the leadership Yuki Kamifuku, the strictness of Mahiro Kiryu and the feline antics of Haruna Neko?

Moka Miyamoto & Juria Nagano continue to be linked together for whenever Nagano can fit in a match on her busy schedule. Arisu Endo & Kaya Toribami are both racking up the ring time lately but don’t have the results to show for it. This is the rare chance for them to have the edge in experience against their opponents.

A press conference was held earlier today featuring the participants of the two title matches. Konosuke Takeshita announced he is returning to America in October so his goal for Sunday is to win the KO-D Openweight Title and bring it with him to AEW. He does not believe Kazusada Higuchi’s claim that a new wind is blowing through DDT. Higuchi disagrees and thinks the KO-D Title has already taken a new form that will not change back if Takeshita wins it off him and takes it abroad. Win or lose, this is the match Higuchi has been looking for.

Nobody was able to get a word out of Cara Noir during the press conference. Even Yuki Ueno tried to make him speak by asking him questions in English but Noir stayed silent throughout. However his physical gestures made it clear he wants to beat Ueno and become the new DDT Universal Champion. Ueno hopes that if he can successfully defend the title it will open the door to him having a title defence in the United Kingdom. He also wants to defend the belt in Thailand to live up to a promise that Masahiro Takanashi made when he was the champion.

The full line-up of this year’s D-Ou Grand Prix tournament will be revealed during the show.

DDT “WHO’S GONNA TOP? 2021 TOUR IN SAPPORO DAY 2”, 23/09/2021

2. Sanshiro Takagi & Tomoya defeated Antonio Honda & Naomi Yoshimura when Tomoya pinned Honda with the SOD (11:25).
3. Soma Takao defeated Hideki Okatani with the Official Endless Waltz (10:04).
4. Special 6-Man Tag Match: Jun Akiyama, Yusuke Okada & Noriyuki Yoshida defeated HARASHIMA, Toru Owashi & Kazuki Hirata when Yoshida pinned Hirata with the Lightning Leg Lariat (14:14).
5. Daisuke Sasaki & Tetsuya Endo defeated Kazusada Higuchi & Darkunesu K when Endo pinned K with the Darkness Driver (11:48).
6. Sapporo Specialty Special Tag Match: Konosuke Takeshita & Yuki Ueno defeated Chris Brookes & Akito when Takeshita submitted Akito with the Plus Ultra (11:48).

Akito showed up wearing a similar leather jacket to Chris Brookes. They came close to winning the main event when Yuki Ueno’s Shining Wizard accidentally hit Konosuke Takeshita. Brookes took Ueno outside and left it up to Akito to finish off Takeshita. Instead Takeshita countered Akito’s grappling and locked him in the Plus Ultra for the submission victory. Takeshita shook hands with Brookes after the match.

Keigo Nakamura went missing before the show and was replaced with Darkunesu K again. K tried once more to prevent DAMNATION from splitting up but he was defeated once more.

Without going into detail, shenanigans from Danshoku Dieno caused Yukinori Matsui to faint during the opening match. It had to be called off without a winner.

Two injuries led to changes in the card. Yukio Sakaguchi has spinal canal stenosis detected in his lower back while Yuji Hino has damaged ligaments in both his right knee and right ankle. No timeframe was given for their returns.

Today didn’t go so well for The 37KAMIINA. They took a blow from DISASTER BOX that left them with one less championship. HARASHIMA is now the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion after he pinned Shunma Katsumata in the main event. He is a little excited to hold the title again but Toru Owashi warned him somebody might try to pin him while he is sleeping. HARASHIMA promised to sleep with one eye open from now on. Naomi Yoshimura noticed that Katsumata today isn’t like the one he’s faced in the past so they still need to be careful around him when the KO-D Tag Team Titles are on the line.

In 2004 Noriyuki Yoshida was a trainee at NOAH so today’s match with Jun Akiyama was a long time coming. Akiyama defeated him but shook his hand and told him “Congratulations on the 15th Anniversary!” The special occasion is why Akiyama used the Wrist-Clutch Exploder Suplex to beat him. Yoshida thanked him for remembering.

The KO-D 6-Man Team Titles were vacated after DAMNATION lost the DRAMATIC SURVIVOR tournament. New champions will be crowned in November and one of the teams is already picked. Pheromones did their thing and “convinced” Hisaya Imabayashi to put them into the match despite having no previous success as a unit. They don’t care who they are put against to become the next champions.

Normally it is the DDT Extreme Champion who chooses the match stipulation for title defences. However Shinya Aoki allowed Kazuki Hirata to pick the match gimmick this time. They agreed to an “All Men Are Equal!” match. Hirata explained that Aoki’s fighting power is 530,000 while his own power is just 20 (he promises to level up to 25 in time for the match). To make it a fair fight Aoki has to fight at Hirata’s level and only use moves that Hirata would do. For example, Aoki is not allowed to use a Cobra Clutch because Hirata never used that move himself. The match will be stopped if Aoki doesn’t fight like Hirata. Two referees, Hisaya Imabayashi and another person will be at ringside to judge what Aoki can and cannot do. This also means Aoki must learn to dance like Hirata because that is inevitable.

Shunma Katsumata is getting annoyed by the behavior of Pheromones. His button was pushed even more when he signed the contract for the match and noticed a funny smell coming from the pen. He found out the pen was in Yuki Iino’s mouth and covered in his drool. Konosuke Takeshita isn’t bothered by the mind games because as the champion of DDT he is prepared for everything his opponents will throw at him. Katsumata doesn’t have that patience and tried to attack Pheromones. Danshoku Dieno stopped him in his tracks with the Lip Lock.

Yuna Manase is as fired up as she’s ever been to promote her match against Saki Akai. It makes her angry that Akai hasn’t been putting in the same amount of effort and will make it all the sweeter if she beats her. Akai is surprised to see Manase act like this. She always assumed she was the older sister type. Instead Akai thinks she is trying to hide how smaller and weaker she actually is.

Seven members of DAMNATION gather together for the unit’s final match. Shuji Ishikawa unfortunately will not get his wish to sing karaoke with DAMNATION at the Tokyo Dome. However Hiroshi Yamato is missing from the lineup too but I don’t know what his schedule is.

DDT wants to put more effort into the early matches of their shows to make up for the shorter run times enforced by the pandemic. Putting together the undercard under these conditions is a problem Sanshiro Takagi is trying to figure out. The restrictions prevent DDT from filling venues with fans so DDT have decided to stream the first three matches (the two pre-show matches and Match #1) live on their Youtube channel for those who cannot attend shows.

Normally the early matches are for the young wrestlers but Takagi wants to get creative. So he’s putting Yumiko Hotta and Shinya Aoki on opposite teams. Both of them fought in RIZIN and Takagi wants to see how they would fare against each other for that reason. This is also surprising because Hotta was publicly upset over Natsumi Maki leaving Actwres girl’Z for Tokyo Joshi Pro at the end of 2018. If she held any grudge with DDT over that then it looks like it is all water under the bridge now.
