Daisuke Sasaki was at the show to meet up with KUBITO. The two confronted Fuminori Abe to promote their match with Astronauts for the Iron Fist Tag Team Titles on 4th August. Sasaki also hit Abe from behind before escaping the ring with KUBITO.

During one point of the show at ringside, Isami Kodaka talked to the trainee Takeru Inoue and wished him luck when he debuts on 4th August. Kodaka is going to be his first opponent.

After Harimao defeated Sento Minzoku in the main event, Takumi Tsukamoto & Judomaster approached the IRON FIST Tag Team Champions in the ring. Judomaster challenged Kazusada Higuchi to a Sumo contest twice but quickly lost both games. Tsukamoto then explained to Judomaster the concept of challenging for championships in pro wrestling. Ryota Nakatsu pointed out to everyone that Judomaster still doesn’t understand the rules of wrestling but he is still a really strong fighter so he agreed to give them a title shot in the future.

As mentioned above, Judomaster still hasn’t gotten the hang of the rules for pro wrestling. He was immediately pinned by SAGAT at the start of their tag match because he didn’t know he was supposed to kick out. They had to restart the match and this time Judomaster was able to pin SAGAT back with his own rolling cradle called the Master Clutch.

Yasu Urano quickly unmasked Lil’ Kraken and rolled him up to win his match in very little time. Afterward he claimed that he had now taken the No. 1 Contendership for the Union MAX Title away from Kraken! He tried to leave but Kraken refused to let the result stand and demanded a rematch. The fans agreed and Urano gave in to it. In the second match there was a ref bump and Urano tried to unmask Kraken again. This time Kraken defended himself by spitting mist into Urano’s face! Urano was still able to fight back but he was put away with the Jumping Knee Butt. Kraken will remain the No. 1 Contender and gets his title shot on 30th April.

Over the weekend Super Sasadango Machine noticed something. He is on the poster for this show but hasn’t been booked for a match yet. He thought he was going to be on the show anyway because DDT is celebrating its 27th anniversary so he kept his busy schedule free for that day. Akito used his vice president duties to look into it and apologized when he found out that DDT did indeed forget to book Sasadango for the show. To make up for it one more match has been added to the 5 hour show and Akito himself will be Sasadango’s opponent. Now Keisuke Ishii is also getting booked in order to take Akito’s original spot in Match #3. Sasadango has since showed his appreciation to Akito for owning up o the mistake and apologized for giving him extra work to do. So for the first time ever we’re getting a wrestling match where the buildup involves both wrestlers constantly apologizing to each other.

At the last BASARA show the top two members of Sento Minzoku challenged Harimao for the IRON FIST Tag Team Titles. The match cannot happen just yet because Minoru Fujita is already scheduled to defend the Union MAX Title and he does not want to take part in another championship bout on the same show. So instead Isami Kodaka will face one-half of the champions Kazusada Higuchi in a singles match to give fans a preview of the full course.

The Up Up Girls (Pro Wrestling) are holding their own event that is a mixture of both wrestling matches and a concert. All currently active members will be involved. The management group behind the unit has already said Hikari Noa will not be at the show. She is gradually being mentioned or shown on promotional material again so to me that is a small but positive sign towards her eventually coming back. I think her future will be more clear next month after “GRAND PRINCESS ’24” and the American shows are out of the way. We’re more likely to see her in public again before Kate Middleton that’s for sure.

This is the complete TJPW card you’re going to get in Philadelphia. Hmmm… I’m not that hot on it to be honest. If last year’s USA show was comparable to a Korakuen Hall show this one is more Ryogoku KFC Hall. I guess they’re a bit more conservative this time around because they have the second show with GCW the day after.

Speaking of GCW, Maki Itoh won the GCW Extreme Title in a 6 Way Scramble match on Saturday night! I’ll write more about it in the next DDT Around The World article at the end of the month.

2. KUBITO & Yasu Urano defeated Gouma Ryu & Banana Senga when KUBITO submitted Ryu with a Crossface Lock (7:24).
3. Tsutomu Oosugi defeated Daichi Kazato with the Tsuki no Ishi (12:42).
4. Masato Kamino & Chicharito Shoki defeated Takumi Tsukamoto & Judomaster when Kamino pinned Judomaster with the Lariat (14:54).
5. Isami Kodaka, Ryuichi Sekine & Minoru Fujita defeated FUMA, Ryota Nakatsu & Fuminori Abe when Kodaka pinned Nakatsu with a Vertical Drop Brainbuster (18:52).

2024 could be the year Sento Minzoku is back on top of the BASARA mountain. Minoru Fujita is currently the Union MAX Champion and the result of today’s main event could lead to the Iron Fist Tag Team Titles coming back to him too. Isami Kodaka pinned Ryota Nakatsu to win the match and told Fujita he wants the two of them to challenge Harimao for the titles. Nakatsu complained that Fujita shouldn’t have to be Kodaka’s partner and Ryuichi Sekine should do it instead. However he eventually agreed to put the belts on the line against Fujita & Kodaka. Kazusada Higuchi’s next BASARA appearance is on 19th March but Fujita is already defending the Union MAX Title on 19th March on that show. He refuses to wrestle twice, especially if it is in two championship matches back to back. They all think Higuchi will be available to wrestle in BASARA again on 20th April so they will do the title match there unless they got Higuchi’s schedule wrong.

Sekine announced he will be back to wrestling on a regular schedule with BASARA starting from next month. He made it a goal to work his way into becoming a champion again.

Yesterday BASARA reported that Takato Nakano had a fever but tested negative for covid. They decided to pull him from the show as a precaution and brought in Chicharito Shoki to replace him. If that wasn’t enough, it was announced that the love sickness Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi is suffering from has gotten worse so he couldn’t wrestle today either. The masked Judomaster was suspiciously in the venue again to take his place for the second show in a row. He seemed to have a better understanding of pro wrestling this time but still lost to Masato Kamino.

Today is the first time Gouma Ryu wrestled in Takashimadaira Kumin Center for a BASARA show. He thought he was taking part in another Pro Wrestling Trial but Banana Senga forgot to bring his outfit. They held a court session arguing whether or not injuring your opponent in a pro wrestling match should be a crime. They told KUBITO and Yasu Urano to wrestle each other in order to provide evidence. None of their actions injured either of them so the referee/judge declared them Not Guilty. Ryu did not accept the result and convinced Senga to fight the other two. KUBITO & Urano quickly beat them.

2. Tsutomu Oosugi & Banana Senga defeated Ryuichi Sekine & Ryota Nakatsu when Oosugi pinned Sekine after the Pictures At An Exhibition ~Dwarf~ with Senga (10:16).
3. Isami Kodaka defeated Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi by Knockout with a Vertical Drop Brainbuster (10:14).
4. Takumi Tsukamoto, SAGAT & Lil’ Kraken defeated Daichi Kazato, Fuminori Abe & Takuya Nomura when Kraken pinned Kazato with a Jumping Knee Butt (10:27).

The new year for BASARA begins with Minoru Fujita as the brand new Union MAX Champion! The man with nothing left in his life but pro wrestling defeated FUMA and promised to lead BASARA into 2024. Takato Nakano came out and congratulated Fujita but told him he thinks BASARA cannot progress until they have a more youthful energy to liven things up. Fujita accepted his challenge for the MAX Title. He’s been wrestling for 20 years and will continue to wrestle for 30 or even 40 more! Fujita thinks 2023 was a tough year for both BASARA and Sento Minzoku so 2024 is going to be the year of their counterattack.

It was previously announced in December but Ryuichi Sekine is trying to crowdfund his own wrestling show in Okayama on 14th April. It is a project that his wife Nodoka Tenma is also involved with so the show may end up featuring wrestlers from both BASARA and Tokyo Joshi Pro.

1. Takumi Tsukamoto & SAGAT defeated Yasu Urano & Masahiro Takanashi when SAGAT pinned Urano with the Goregrind (12:44).
2. 3 Way Match: A.YAZAWA defeated Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi and Gouma Ryu when YAZAWA pinned Hiroshi with a Backslide Pin (9:36).
3. FUMA, KUBITO & Daichi Kazato defeated Lil’ Kraken, Tsutomu Oosugi & Banana Senga when FUMA pinned Kraken with the Heavy Metal Anthem (10:56).
4. Isami Kodaka & Minoru Fujita defeated Shuichiro Katsumura & Munetatsu Nakamura when Fujita pinned Nakamura with the Modified Samson Clutch (15:19).
5. Ryota Nakatsu & Kazusada Higuchi defeated Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino when Nakatsu pinned Nakano with the V Slider (17:27).

The last BASARA show of the year ended with Harimao holding a toast inside the ring. The main event was non-title but Ryota Nakatsu & Kazusada Higuchi are open to giving Aijin Tag a shot at the IRON FIST Tag Team Titles as long as Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino do their best. Harimao are just glad they get to end 2023 in BASARA on a happy note.

Isami Kodaka held the Spirit Of Ganbare Title belt above Shuichiro Katsumura to taunt him after their tag match. Minoru Fujita said the win was an overwhelming victory against Ganbare☆Pro and he looks forward to seeing Kodaka defend the title over there on 27th December. Fujita then decided to challenge FUMA for the Union MAX Title! He thinks everything fell apart for Sento Minzoku this year so in 2024 he will revitalize the group by beating FUMA for the championship. However FUMA said he does not have a good enough recent track record to deserve a shot. Fujita talked about FUMA recently getting married and having a fulfilling personal life while he has nothing but just pro wrestling to rely on. FUMA understood what he meant and accepted the challenge for 7th January.

The 3 Way Match was supposed to be A.YAZAWA’s specialty, the Rock ‘N’ Roll Death Match. It is where everyone has to dance whenever rock music plays over the speakers. However the sound system malfunctioned during the match and started playing drinking songs instead, causing the wrestlers to drink alcohol instead of dance.

2. 3 Way Match: Daiki Shimomura defeated Isami Kodaka and Ryuichi Sekine when Shimomura pinned Sekine with the Shimomura Hurricanrana (11:08).
3. Fuminori Abe defeated A.YAZAWA by submission via Self-Report (17:19).
4. Hardcore Tag Match: Takumi Tsukamoto & Akane Fujita defeated SAGAT & Jun Masaoka when Tsukamoto pinned SAGAT with the Dragon Kicker (16:52).

Trans-Am ★ Ryota was Ryota Nakatsu, Trans-Am ★ Takato was Takato Nakano and Trans-Am ★ Ika was Lil’ Kraken all impersonating different eras of the Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi gimmick along with Hiroshi himself.

Some of the wrestlers performed karaoke before the matches began. Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi, Antonio Honda, Takumi Tsukamoto and Lil’ Kraken all took part. Kraken actually did a diss track aimed at Rikiya Shindo instead of karaoke.

3. 3 Way Match: Ryota Nakatsu defeated SAGAT and Daiki Shimomura when Nakatsu pinned SAGAT with a Back Roll Clutch Hold (11:54).
4. Takato Nakano, Masato Kamino & Fuminori Abe defeated FUMA, KUBITO & Lil’ Kraken when Abe pinned Kraken with a Back Drop Hold (14:48).
5. IRON FIST TAG TOURNAMENT – Round 1: Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi & Daichi Kazato defeated Tsutomu Oosugi & Banana Senga when Kazato pinned Oosugi with the OPA! (16:41).

The first few IRON FIST TAG TOURNAMENT matches in the opening round saw Yasu Urano & Antonio Honda and also Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi & Daichi Kazato going through. Hiroshi & Kazato will face Ryota Nakatsu & Kazusada Higuchi in Round 2 on 24th October. The winners of that match will face Urano & Honda in the semi-final on 7th November.

3. Tsutomu Oosugi defeated Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi with an Inverted Hurricanrana (9:36).
4. IRON FIST TAG TOURNAMENT – Round 1: Daiki Shimomura & Minoru Fujita defeated FUMA & KUBITO when Shimomura pinned FUMA with the Asai DDT (16:20).
5. IRON FIST TAG TOURNAMENT – Round 1: Takumi Tsukamoto & SAGAT defeated Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino when SAGAT pinned Nakano with the Goregrind (13:49).

The remaining 1st Round matches had Takumi Tsukamoto & SAGAT as well as Daiki Shimomura & Minoru Fujita both advancing. Tsukamoto & SAGAT will meet Lil’ Kraken & Leo Isaka in Round 2 on 24th October. The winners of that match will face Shimomura & Fujita in the semi-final on 7th November.

Daiki Shimomura challenged FUMA for the Union MAX Title on 24th October.
