As the summer nears its end Ganbare☆Pro finds itself fighting two different battles. While their own shows are currently focusing on a rivalry with FREEDOMS, several of their wrestlers are also making their presence felt on BASARA shows. The latest match to happen is a young generation battle where BASARA’s Takeru Inoue will face off against GanPro’s Shota Kawakami. GanPro are also sending over Keisuke Ishii and Munetatsu Nakamura for matches. Maybe one of them will take part in Daichi Kazato’s 15th Anniversary bout?

3. Yumehito Imanari, Keisuke Ishii & Shinichiro Tominaga defeated Takuya Wada, Choun-Shiryu & PSYCHO when Tominaga pinned Shiryu with the Wine Hamon Overdrive (15:31).

The first battle in this summer feud between Ganbare☆Pro and FREEDOMS goes to GanPro! They were the home team for today’s main event but the visitors aren’t going to take defeat lying down. After Mizuki Watase pinned Daisuke Masaoka for the victory, Takashi Sasaki told the GanPro team not to let their guard down because this rivalry has only just begun. The next inter-promotional match will be at a FREEDOMS show in Shuichiro Katsumura’s hometown of Yokohama on 17th August. Sasaki promised he will embarrass Katsumura in front of his own people! He then told Watase that GanPro’s “amateur” training cannot prepare him for a Fluorescent Lighttube Death Match with Jun Kasai on 26th August. Ken Ohka defended Watase by saying everybody has a first time for everything! Watase and nobody else in GanPro for that matter are going to fight FREEDOMS with the intention of losing. Watase then said if it he was just going to have a normal rules match with Kasai he would definitely beat him right now! He is going to put everything he’s learned during his 10 year career into this match so don’t underestimate him.

The Ken Ohka Vs Thanomsak Toba was put together as a tribute for the late Tomohiko Hashimoto. Both wrestlers spoke about their memories of him after the match.

The GanPro trainee Sentaro Motoshima was given plenty of chances to do stuff in the ring today. At the start of the show he had a five minute exhibition match with Ken Ohka. The intent of the match was to last the full five minutes so it continued even though Ohka made Motoshima submit to a Crab Hold halfway through. Ohka criticised Motoshima after the match by telling him he did no good and has to try harder. Yumehito Imanari joined in and told Motoshima he is taking his debut match set for 26th August for granted which means he is also underestimating GanPro as a whole. Imanari then decided that Motoshima would have an exhibition match with him at the end of the show!

The bonus exhibition did go ahead after the FREEDOMS team made their exit. Imanari attacked Motoshima with a chair leading to them fighting out in the crowd. Back in the ring Motoshima escaped from a Crab Hold and kept Imanari back with Dropkicks until the time expired. The bell rang but the two continued fighting for another two minutes. When they finally stopped, Imanari asked the audience if they could understand Motoshima’s feelings and if he deserves to have make his pro debut? The audience applauded his efforts. Imanari told him pro wrestling is tough and scares him because he has seen so many people get injured but the determination to overcome those fears is why he is here with Ohka supporting GanPro. For the last 12 years they’ve been waiting for a guy like Motoshima to join them. Ohka confirmed the debut is going ahead and he advised the trainee never to forget to be grateful to the fans.

During the show Michiyoshi Mishima announced more matches for the 26th August Korakuen Hall show. MAO is coming to GanPro to team with Fuminori Abe & Tyson Maeguchi to take on Keisuke Ishii, Shigehiro Irie & Takuya Wada. Also the Ganbare☆Joshi match for the show will be Yuna Manase & YuuRI Vs Moeka Haruhi & Hanako Nakamori.

GanPro also announced that their next Korakuen show after August will be on 27th December.

1. Takumi Tsukamoto & Banana Senga defeated Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi & Fuminori Abe when Tsukamoto pinned Hiroshi with the Osotogari (7:16).
2. 3 Way Match: Tsutomu Oosugi defeated Daichi Kazato and Daiki Shimomura when Oosugi pinned Kazato with the Tsuki no Ishi (7:57).
3. Lil’ Kraken & Akira Jo defeated SAGAT & Isami Kodaka when Kraken pinned SAGAT with the Period. (12:42).
4. Ryota Nakatsu defeated Munetatsu Nakamura with the V Slider (15:56).
5. Ryuichi Sekine, FUMA & Ayumu Honda defeated Isami Kodaka, Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino when Sekine submitted Nakano with the Let’s Combine (17:44).

The winners of the main event Hyakusho Ikki made an offer to Ayumu Honda to join their team, thinking his addition will make them even better. Honda didn’t want to but was afraid to turn them down directly so he whispered his decision into Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi’s ear and asked him to tell them. Hiroshi lied to Ryuichi Sekine & FUMA, telling them that Honda loves the idea and wants to join the team! Suddenly Lil’ Kraken walked down to the ring leading a train of Akira Jo, SAGAT and Minoru Fujita lined up behind him. Kraken heard Hyakusho Ikki call themselves the best team but he has his own family, a Super Family if you will, which is even better. The four of them created a strong bond together in their tag match today (a lot of the match was the two teams both struggling to get along) and they would all like to challenge for the Iron Fist Tag Team Titles as one unit. They were convinced to whittle their team down to just Kraken & Jo in order to get the title match. Jo then told Kraken they will need to coodernate by wearing the same colours on the day. He suggests red and wasn’t going to argue any further because he has to bring his daughter to see Lilo & Stitch once this show was over. FUMA agreed to have the title match on 25th June.

After beating Munetatsu Nakamura in a BASARA Vs Ganbare☆Pro battle, Ryota Nakatsu continues to be on the lookout for his next Union Pro Title challenger. Nakatsu taunted Nakamura throughout the match and even pulled back his hand when he offered his a handshake after the bout. He praised Nakamura for being an amazing young wrestler and said a guy like him would be a great choice to be his next challenger. So he wants Nakamura to help him find his actual next challenger.

During the show opening introductions an argument broke out between Hiroshi and Takato Nakano. Hiroshi claimed martial arts is the best while Nakano threw his support behind sports instead. The solution to this is to have the 15th June show be dedicated to pitting Team Martial Arts against Team Sports!

2. Ken Ohka, PSYCHO & Moeka Haruhi defeated Shinichiro Tominaga, Daisuke® & Banny Oikawa when PSYCHO pinned Daisuke® with the God Trap (10:54).
3. Yuna Manase & Mio Shirai defeated YuuRI & Nanami Hatano when Shirai pinned YuuRI with the Purple Flash (9:52).
4. GanPro Ultimate Rules: Tyson Maeguchi & Thanomsak Toba defeated Shuichiro Katsumura & Takuya Wada by Knockout when Maeguchi knocked out Katsumura with a Right Backhand Blow (14:00).
5. Keisuke Ishii, Toru Sugiura & Munetatsu Nakamura defeated Yumehito Imanari, Mizuki Watase & Shigehiro Irie when Nakamura pinned Watase with the German Suplex (21:34).

Munetatsu Nakamura was recently given the nickname “GanPro’s Promising Hope” and he is starting to prove he deserves the moniker. He scored the pinfall on Mizuki Watase in the main event thanks to some help from Toru Sugiura. The two set Watase up with a German Suplex for a nearfall. Then Sugiura hit Watase with a Rolling Elbow and Nakamura landed another German Suplex to get the three count. Nakamura then challenged Watase & Shigehiro Irie for the Spirit Of Ganbare World Tag Team Titles on 22nd June. However both Irie and Sugiura have bookings elsewhere that day. Michiyoshi Mishima decided the title match can happen on 19th July and 22nd June will get a Watase Vs Nakamura singles match instead.

The GanPro Ultimate Rules fitted Tyson Maeguchi really well and he ended up knocking out Shuichiro Katsumura to win the match for his team. In fact he likes the rules so much he might start calling himself Tyson “Ultimate” Maeguchi whenever he fights with gloves on. Bolstered by the win, he approached Yumehito Imanari at the end of the show and challenged him for the Spirit Of Ganbare World Title. He told Imanari he’s been treading the muddy waters of indie wrestling for the last year and finally climbed his way up to this point. Imanari agreed and wants the title match to happen on 22nd June. He pointed out that they both belong to the Ibushi Wrestling Institute and he knows what it is like to get stuck in the muddy waters of independent wrestling.

Mio Shirai is getting comfortable being in the ring again ever since she returned from retirement five months ago. After beating YuuRI today she wonders if YuuRI has been getting any stronger too wrestling in Ganbare☆Pro and Ice Ribbon? YuuRI may think she is but she should be training even harder if she wants to beat Shirai. If she has a problem with that then they can have a singles match against each other. GanPro obliged and booked the match for 19th July.

Mishima introduced everyone to a new trainee. Sentaro Motoshima was born in Kagoshima on 4th October, 2001. He is currently getting ready for his debut match and will participate in exhibition matches on upcoming shows as part of his preparations.

An injury report was given out by Tokyo Joshi Pro today for three of their wrestlers. Hyper Misao’s arm injury has been revealed to be ligament damage in her right elbow and she will remain out of action until late June. Haruna Neko picked up another knee injury and will miss this weekend’s shows. She is currently having it examined so TJPW will give an update once her diagnosis is known.

Kira Summer has a thigh injury and will be resting for another 4 weeks. Her Tokyo Princess Cup qualifier match with Wakana Uehara that was meant to happen on Saturday is postponed until she returns. However if she is still not cleared to wrestle by late June she may have to forfeit the match.

Parts of the undercard for Saturday’s show has been changed because of Neko and Summer’s injuries. There is now one less match and Uehara takes Neko’s place in Match #2.

The trainee Konatsu will now go by the name Ren Konatsu for her debut. She was born in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka on 26th May 2001 and is 153cm tall. She was originally an SKE48 fan and started watching TJPW to follow Yuki Arai. However it was Suzume who inspired Konatsu to try wrestling out for herself so Suzume gets to be her very first opponent.

A shootfight style ruleset is being tried out by Ganbare☆Pro for Match #4. The GanPro Ultimate Rules can be won by knockout, submission or referee stoppage. There are no rope breaks and moves involving use of the ropes or corners are prohibited. Also double team moves and tag partners breaking up the opponent’s holds are not allowed. Should a grounded fighter position himself onto the ring apron the referee will shout “Don’t Move” and the match will pause for the wrestlers to reposition themselves over to the centre of the ring. Intentional fouls are an immediate disqualification while non-serious fouls result in a warning. Two warnings will result in a disqualification. Given the fighting styles of Shuichiro Katsumura, Takuya Wada, Tyson Maeguchi and Thanomsak Toba they should all adapt to the rules no problem.

Today was MAO’s final block match in the Best Of The Super Juniors tournament. He was able to beat SHO using everything he learned in DDT throughout his career and finished tied for first in his block with 12 points. However due to head-to-head tiebreakers he did not qualify for the final. I will write a full report for his tour with New Japan next week. Next week he comes back home to rejoin KANON and fight some old friends.

The rules for the Lumberjack Pool Crocodile Match have not been explained yet. Not even those in charge of DDT knows what it’s going to be.

The next match in Toru Owashi’s 20th Anniversary series is a partial reunion of DISASTER BOX! He will be in the same match as HARASHIMA, Yuki Ueno and Kazuki Hirata. Sadly Naomi Yoshimura will not be in attendance to complete the reunion.

Now that Danshoku Dieno is done with being a Strong Style wrestler, he’ll have to find his strength somewhere else to fight four opponents at once.

Ganbare☆Pro is the latest promotion following the trend of holding wrestling shows focusing on the younger and less experienced wrestlers. Everyone taking part in the “YOUNG GANBARE SUMMIT” had to have less than 5 years of in-ring experience to be booked. Despite the show being on the small scale there was still an impressive amount of representation on the card with 11 organisations being involved in total (GanPro, Dragongate, Diana, Ice Ribbon, P.P.P. TOKYO, WAVE, Osaka Style Wrestling, Big Japan, Sportiva, Ito Dojo and the Ibushi Wrestling Institute)

Dragongate’s Mochizuki Jr. beat Munetatsu Nakamura in the main event to prove he is better at using the German Suplex. Nakamura said he felt crushed by the pressure but was glad to have the match. This is the start of a new rivalry and he wants to get revenge on Mochizuki Jr. Nakamura does not care where the rematch can take place. This will not be your normal Tokyo Joshi Pro show. Sayuri Namba’s in charge before she leaves the company and she is using her powers to do things she always wanted but never got the chance to. One is to do the ring announcements for a LEONA match because the two have known each other going back to their university days. LEONA’s opponent has now been chosen and it is Antonio Honda.

Another thing Namba wants is to be a ring girl one more time. TJPW doesn’t really do round based combat sports so after some out of the box thinking the company decided to make Kazuki Hirata fight against the jacked up hybrid fighter Hideki “Shrek” Sekine. He will become maybe the most unlikley looking wrestler to ever get booked by TJPW. He also doesn’t know who Hirata is but will be happy to beat him up. Is Hirata even going to last past the first round?
