The “Prince Of Nagoya” is one day away from coming home and after today he is feeling pretty good about his chances of winning the KO-D Tag Team Titles tomorrow. He was put in an Octopus Hold by Antonio Honda but Yuki Ueno broke it up with a Shining Wizard. Then the two of them gave Honda the My MADMAX before To-y finished him off with the Kojima Impact. Afterwards To-y talked on the microphone about enjoying these kind of intense matches because he is the strongest. However, Chris Brookes brought him back down to Earth by reminding him that he is the only wrestler in the title match tomorrow who is not already a champion. Ueno cheered To-y up by giving him a prediction for the next East Vs West themed show taking place in Osaka this August. Ueno predicts he and To-y will cross boundaries together and fight for the tag titles on that show! To-y thought about going one further by giving a prediction of his own but stopped himself, deciding to live in the present instead.

All of paleyouth were attacked by DAMNATION T.A after Match #5. Ilusion gave Takeshi Masada a Low Blow while Daisuke Sasaki & MJ Paul attacked everyone with chairs. Ilusion got on the microphone to demand Masada hand the belts over and start his career over as a trainee. He then knocked out Masada with a belt shot to the head. The three paleyouth wrestlers all had to be helped out of the ring after the attack.

The bright and energetic Junta Miyawaki might be met with a cold reality tomorrow. After his match he said he wants to win the DDT Extreme Title from Hideki Okatani because it looks so shiny. Without much emotion Okatani told Miyawaki he is just somebody who does not know when to give up. So for tomorrow’s I Quit match he will not even allow Miyawaki to give up!

The attack on paleyouth was part of an unlucky day for Yuya Koroku. He thought he had won the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title earlier in the show when he beat Kazuki Hirata in a tag match. Danshoku Dieno was part of the match and he stripped out of his tights during it. Hirata grabbed the tights and tried to smother Koroku with them but Koroku defended himself and knocked down Hirata with an Elbow Strike. He jumped on top for the pin and got the three count but was not rewarded with the championship. Yukinori Matsui noticed the pair of tights was beneath Koroku and on top of Hirata during the pin so he decided it was Danshoku Dieno’s Tights that pinned Hirata and won the Iron Man Title!

During the week MAO ran over Sanshiro Takagi in a van for the fourth time in six years. The officiating whenever that happens during matches leaves a lot to be desired and Takagi has lost all faith in the DDT referees ever doing anything about it. So for Takagi’s upcoming match with MAO in Korakuen Hall there will not be any referees involved at all! Instead it will be up to the audience to count the pinfalls in unison and if the majority get to three in sync, that will decide the winner. Other than that the match will be No DQ and have no countouts. We cannot trust a room of 1,000 people to all be able to count up to 20 by themselves at the same time without the proper guidance present.

Mizuki Watase doesn’t appreciate his bosses not living up to any promises they make to others so he agreed to wrestle SUSHI and put his championship on the line.

Watase’s decision to do that match has pushed back his plan to challenge The Deadlock for the Spirit Of Ganbare Tag Team Titles. That gives Ken Ohka & Guts Ishijima the chance to step in and grab the shot for themselves.

If a situation occurs where the wrestler becomes too injured to speak, the referee is allowed to end the match by TKO.

Mataro ended up having to wrestle in some of these matches and then retire from wrestling due to losing a stipulation. Now he is getting the opportunity to cancel that retirement because if his team can beat the Fake Brahman Brothers (think of all the DDT wrestlers named Yuki and you can guess who they are) he gets to return to wrestling again!

I haven’t been paying attention to Up Town but Kuroshio TOKYO Japan has been quietly building up a neat little roster for himself over there. When he launched the promotion he said he wanted it to be like a small ramen shop that attracts a long line and that just sounds like a lovely place to carve out for himself in the wrestling world. Saito is one of the new wrestlers to debut from Up Town and she is making her Super Japan debut here. Despite having less than a year of experience she is actually pretty active thanks to working on Ice Ribbon and WAVE shows in between Up Town events.

The match between Thanomsak Toba and Mac Matsuhita will be held under the rounds system with five rounds lasting three minutes each being the plan.

Some international action on the undercard with MBM from Belgium taking on Miles Karu from Malaysia.

This upcoming week is a special one for Chris Brookes because it will be the 7th anniversary of his DDT debut. In today’s main event his Piledriver to Shunma Katsumata is what set HARASHIMA up to win the match using the Somato. He then spat at To-y after the match causing a fight to break out between them until they were pulled apart. When things calmed down, Brookes talked about his amazing seven years with DDT and promised to stay for another seven or ten or twenty years or even forever! To-y went to the commentary booth acting as To-y from the future. His past self is furious over being spit on but he calmed his past self down and said he will win the KO-D Tag Team Titles. He then left and his “past” self returned to say he is now motivated to win the titles.

Shinya Aoki claims he was one step ahead of Yuki Ueno today. However since Ueno won the previous prelim match, Ueno thinks they are currently tied. The two shook hands and promised to show the fans something amazing for their KO-D Openweight Title match.

The latest adventures of the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title are taking a dark turn. When Yuya Koroku won the title the other members of paleyouth acted as bodyguards for him. However today Takeshi Masada betrayed him by jamming his fingers into Koroku’s mouth to distract him for a roll up. Koroku chased Masada around the arena and they made it back to the ring where Koroku got his revenge. He did the same thing Masada did to him so he could become the champion again. But as Koroku walked away from the ring, Kazuki Hirata suddenly appeared in his brooding “Hammer Hirata” persona where he looks a lot like HAYATA from NOAH. Hirata knocked out Koroku with his hammer and pinned him to be champion once more. With his trusty hammer in his grip, Hirata is warning everyone to stay out of his way so he can go to Sumo Hall as the Iron Man Champion and win the bullet train pass!

The contract has been signed for the DDT Extreme Title match between Hideki Okatani and Junta Miyawaki. Okatani decided it is going to be a Hardcore I Quit Match. The match can only end when one wrestler surrenders or if they get so severely injured that they cannot speak then the referee can declare a TKO. Okatani knows this will be Miyawaki’s first time doing a Hardcore match so he hopes he will enjoy it to the fullest but he also chose the rule because he wants to see Miyawaki surrender. Miyawaki is open to the idea and understands he has the disadvantage because his wrestling style is built around pinning opponents, not submitting them. However he claims to have learned submission holds in Mexico and can show everyone a different side of him during this match.

The two singles matches underneath could end up being previews for a non-existent match down the line. Shoko Nakajima & Hyper Misao don’t have a problem with wrestling Miu Watanabe & Rika Tatsumi under normal circumstances but they’re not so enthusiastic over the reason why the these matches are happening here.

The further Daisuke Sasaki moves on from Best Of The Super Jr. the better. At least he doesn’t have to think about the tournament again for another 14 years. Now he can think about defending the O-40 Title with two opponents now chosen for the next title bout. Shuji Ishikawa and Keisuke Ishii both fit the bill so Sasaki will be fighting both in a 3 Way Match.

Ryunosuke Nagai is the 29 year old son of Mitsuya Nagai. He his pro debut last December and is showing up to “CHARISMANIA IV” for a match against MJ Paul.

The remaining lineup of the show at the moment is Hideki Okatani, Ilusion, Minoru Fujita, Yasu Urano, Sangre Aztca Jr. and Naohiro Katsumi.

We’re approaching the match that will either break the cycle or just start it all over again. Yuki Arai will be next defending the Princess Of Princess Title against Miyu Yamashita. In recent memory Yamashita once beat Arai in just over a minute but Arai then got to make Yamashita tap out in a 6 Way No. 1 Contender’s match that eventually led Arai to becoming the champion. With that said, Arai does not feel like she can call herself the true champion unless she can beat Yamashita one on one. Yamashita is coming into this match having just won the EVE International Title in England. Doing that made her want to win back the Princess Title even more. Is there no end to her insatiable desire for winning that championship again?!?

Last year’s “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS” had Kyoraku Kyomei beating Daydream in a defence of the Princess Tag Team Titles. This time around Daydream are the champs and they want a rematch at the show to avenge that defeat. The only problem is Kyoraku Kyomei do not want to challenge for the belts right now because they do not feel it is the right time to do so. They couldn’t win the titles in Las Vegas earlier this year and they don’t feel ready to climb that mountain again this soon. Daydream wants the match to happen anyway and it looks like they got their way. Protests from Nakajima & Misao may be on the way unless something happens to change their minds.

There’s no such trepidation in regards to the International Princess Title match though. Wakana Uehara is hungry to become the champion and isn’t shy about making puns about her appetite when it comes to challenging Suzume for the championship.

It looks like DDT are very happy with holding a day long show at Shinjuku Takashimaya every year and wants to continue doing them. Yuki Ueno said so, asking fans if they would continue to show up next year, the year after that and even in ten years from now. An extra match almost broke out when To-y and Shunma Katsumata both tried to steal the main event prize from each other, causing all of The 37KAMIINA all chase each other around the area.

Backstage Strange Love Connection had an announcement to give backstage regarding Viento Maligno. He was recently unmasked and revealed to be Keigo Nakamura but he is not going back to using his real name and face. He will stick to his beliefs and continue to wrestle under the mask with just one change. The name Viento Maligno was given to him by Demus and means “Evil Wind” when translated into English. However Maligno has no evil inside of his heart so from now on his name will be Viento Levante (like the easterly wind off the Mediterranean). His goal is to beat Shinya Aoki in a rematch and also challenge Kazuma Sumi for the Universal Title.

She has an important Princess Of Princess Title match happening tomorrow but Yuki Kamifuku spent the rest of the day acting as the promotional ambassador for Shinjuku Takashimaya because she won the Battle Royal.

Saki Akai held a talk show segment during the day. Her guests were Sanshiro Takagi and Hyper Misao.

It turns out there was more background to the Shinya Aoki Vs Viento Maligno match than I first thought. Before the King Of DDT tournament began, Aoki allegedly made a prediction that Maligno would unmask and compete in Best Of The Super Jr. so both of them could have a match between tournament winners. Aoki lived up to his end of the idea which is why after he won King Of DDT he called out Maligno and told him everybody knows what he is doing. They had a match today where Maligno tried to counter the Aoki Clutch but Aoki switched over to a Modified Butterfly Lock to make the luchador give up. He then ripped the mask off Maligno’s face to reveal it was Keigo Nakamura the whole time! Nakamura admitted his real identity and explained that he couldn’t adapt to wrestling in Mexico during his excursion. Even now he does not know who he is and his confidence has disappeared after he saw how all of his juniors have surpassed him. However he still gets support from everybody in Strange Love Connection and he wants to become stronger by being with them. Aoki asked him what will he do from now on and who does he want to fight? Nakamura put the mask back on and will continue to wrestle as Viento Maligno because he’s hit rock bottom has nothing else to lose.

The opening match was officially Sanshiro Takagi’s return to action in DDT (as long as you ignore Super Japan). He feels so reenergised from his time off that he asked for the match to be Best 2 Out Of 3 Falls with no time limit applied. The 37KAMIINA agreed and quickly tried to injure him again. However he blocked Shunma Katsumata’s Totonou Splash and then Cradled him to win the first fall. He then declared the 2nd Fall would be Falls Count Anywhere. For the next two hours Takagi, Akito, Yuki Ueno and Katsumata brawled all over Shinjuku FACE and even outside on the street. Since the action was happening away from ringside, DDT decided to go on with the show and it wasn’t until the very end when the opening match returned to the ring and Takagi pinned Katsumata again to win the match in two straight falls.

Takagi said this comeback could not have been possible if it wasn’t for the other wrestlers in the match and he is feeling super pumped about winning. He’s been cheating on DDT a little bit with Super Japan but he thinks DDT is the best and he is super motivated to wrestle here again. There is one guy in particular he wants to wrestle again to reignite his passion even more. It is MAO, who he hasn’t fought against one on one since 2019 in New York! He challenged MAO to a singles match on 28th June. MAO agreed and blamed Takagi for making him the wrestler he is today. So all of the times he tried to run Takagi over with a car is really Takagi’s fault.

Junta Miyawaki’s trial through DDT’s roster is going well with two wins out of two matches so far. He fought and danced with Kazuki Hirata until Hirata was too spent to continue. Before he could be beaten, Hirata got on the microphone and reminisced about the times back when Miyawaki was a NOAH trainee when they would hang out and eat meals together. He couldn’t continue so he asked Miyawaki to complete the dance by himself but it was only so Hirata could roll him up for a nearfall. Miyawaki countered by putting the Hirata GO! glasses on Hirata’s face, forcing him to dance and be vulnerable to be pinned with a School Boy. Afterwards Miyawaki was informed by Hisaya Imabayashi that the third and final match of his trial will happen on 10th June. It will be against Danshoku Dieno! With that announcement, Dieno entered the ring carrying his pet dog Haku in a protective bag. Miyawaki asked if this is a mistake because Dieno is tougher than any other opponent he could imagine. He promised to give it his all becaue this is a once in a lifetime match for him.

A win in the 3 Way Trios match prompted DAMNATION T.A to challenge paleyouth for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles afterward. Ilusion said his unit is filled with belt collectors and if they take those titles from paleyouth they would then have 10 belts in their collection (DDT Extreme Title with Hideki Okatani, O-40 Title with Daisuke Sasaki and the group has the KO-D 10-Man Tag Team Titles which currently makes seven). Ilusion said the challenging team will be himself, MJ Paul and Sasaki once he comes back from New Japan. The challenge was accepted and will take place on 21st June in Nagoya. Ilusion later made fun of paleyouth being full of old people because only Daichi Sato is younger than him. Takeshi Masada & Yuya Koroku didn’t appreciate being Ilusion calling them old geezers.

A contract signing for the KO-D Tag Team Titles match between FANTÔMES DRAMATIC and The 37KAMIINA took place at the start of the show. One of the challengers To-y unexpectedly announced he is from the future where he wins the title with Yuki Ueno and builds a castle as the Prince Of Nagoya. Chris Brookes lost his patience and kept rushing To-y to finish up his story so the show could continue. To-y ignored him and tried to get Ueno to play along that they are the champions from the future and it is they who are defending the belts instead of Brookes & HARASHIMA. Both Ueno and HARASHIMA tried to keep things on track but Brookes is clearly becoming fed up with To-y’s quirky personality.

With four wrestlers left in the King Of DDT, only one of them is a previous winner. That’s MAO and his next opponent Danshoku Dieno last made it to the final in 2012, losing to Kenny Omega. The semi final stage is now the furthest that Shinya Aoki has ever progressed to. Minoru Suzuki is one step away from equaling the likes of T-Hawk and Yuji Hino as outsiders who reached the final in their first tournament entry.

The alleged future “Prince Of Nagoya” To-y wants to challenge for the KO-D Tag Team Titles and got the shot when he promised Yuki Ueno would be his tag partner. Chris Brookes is pretty confident that To-y won’t be able to beat him or HARASHIMA for the belts.

As part of Junta Miyawaki’s journey through DDT he wants to try and win the championship that bests represents DDT as a one of a kind company. That means he is going after the DDT Extreme Title. He also now has to prove to Hideki Okatani that he wants to be here and he wasn’t kicked out of NOAH.

1. Yuni & Yuki Ishida defeated Viento Maligno & Kazuki Hirata when Ishida pinned Hirata with the Leg Scoop Suplex (8:51).
2. 3 Way Match: Naomi Yoshimura defeated Danshoku Dieno and Kazuki Hirata when Yoshimura pinned Hirata with a Lariat (10:25).
3. Akito, Junta Miyawaki & Yuya Koroku defeated Daisuke Sasaki, Hideki Okatani & Ilusion when Miyawaki pinned Okatani with the Sunshine School Boy (13:33).
4. paleyouth Vs STRANGE LOVE CONNECTION!: MAO & KANON defeated Takeshi Masada & Daichi Sato when MAO pinned Sato with a Running Palm Strike (13:13).

A misstep by Antonio Honda gave The 37KAMIINA the victory in the main event. Honda tried to put To-y in the Octopus Hold but To-y found a counter by lifting Honda up into the Kojima Impact to get the pinfall. To-y was feeling so good about the win that he challenged FANTÔMES DRAMATIC for the KO-D Tag Team Titles afterward! Chris Brookes refused because To-y didn’t beat him or HARASHIMA to earn a shot. However Honda felt that To-y’s recent momentum and attitude is befitting of a pro wrestler and he should come take the belts if he wants them. When To-y said Yuki Ueno is going to be his tag partner, Akito measured the response of the crowd to that idea and agreed to book the match for 21st June in Nagoya. To-y then promised he will win the titles and become the Prince Of Nagoya!

Junta Miyawaki got one over on Hideki Okatani by pinning him in a 6-Man Tag and then challenging him for the DDT Extreme Title. Miyawaki wants the title shot because he thinks the Extreme Title is a one of a kind championship that can only be found in DDT. Okatani responded by asking if Okatani got kicked out of NOAH and that’s why he came to DDT? Okatani denied it and said he came here of his own free will. Okatani was pleased to hear that and said Miyawaki should be grateful that he is getting the title match on 21st June.

8. King Of DDT – Round 1: MAO defeated Kazuma Sumi with the Rock Killer (21:12).

Round 1 of this year’s King Of DDT tournament is in the books, headlined with a match between two wrestlers who see each other as brothers. MAO defeated his “little brother” Kazuma Sumi but the gap between them is starting to close. MAO pulled out the rare Ultra Big Tone that Sumi almost exclusively takes in the small amount of times it’s been used. However this time Sumi landed on his feet and escaped the move unscathed. Sumi relied on the School Boy to try and win the match, using it from several different directions. MAO couldn’t be beat though and he got Sumi trapped in the Just Face Lock. When Sumi was close to fighting out of it, MAO switched it over to the Crossjacket version of the move called the Rock Killer. Sumi couldn’t escape that and had no choice but to give up. MAO told Sumi he was amazing after the match and he had a reward for him. Sumi will be going to France with MAO later this month to wrestle on a BZW Vs GCW show. Not only that but Sumi will be defending the DDT Universal Title against Gringo Loco and French wrestler Leedz Lewis in a 3 Way Match!

The disappearance of Kaisei Takechi from the tournament may end up causing a butterfly effect that ends with Danshoku Dieno finally becoming King Of DDT for the first time! Takechi couldn’t compete because he had appendicitis so Kazuki Hirata was convinced to take his place. An honest Hirata didn’t expect to beat Dieno but still fought as hard as he could by using the Hirata GO! glasses to power up and also reverse the effects of Lip Lock back onto Dieno. However the Miracle One Shot Cradle wasn’t as effective and Hirata was worn down with Brainbusters, the Danshoku Driver and also a Moonsault. As much as Hirata tried to stay in the fight, he was finally put away with the Gotch-Style Danshoku Driver. Since Dieno advanced in the tournament, he had a reason after the match to turn down Super Sasadango Machine’s request to join his team for the upcoming DDT Vs New Japan team challenge against Toru Yano. Dieno is now carrying the dreams of both Takechi and Hirata on his back so he cannot afford to be distracted from the tournament right now.

That was the second match in a row to end with a Gotch-Style Piledriver. Match #6 saw Minoru Suzuki use his version of the move to defeat Yukio Naya. He countered Naya’s size by attacking him with chairs outside the ring. Naya fought back by using The World’s Best Back Drop, Knee Lifts and the Choke Slam. Suzuki withstood those attacks to choke out Naya with a Front Neck Lock and drop him with the Piledriver to advance into Round 2. Suzuki was pleased with the match, telling everyone that DDT is not all about silly wrestling. He understands that when you step inside you can find a lot of strong wrestlers around. Suzuki now looks forward to fighting even stronger opponents as the tournament progresses until he gets all the way to claiming the KO-D Openweight Title for himself.

The one result in Round 1 that could be called an upset was last year’s finalist KANON losing to Shinya Aoki. While KANON had the power advantage to beat Aoki while standing, his ground game proved to be his undoing. Aoki got to take him down to the mat, apply some submissions and then flip himself on top of KANON with the European Clutch to get the three count.

A war of kicks broke out between HARASHIMA and Daichi Sato during their 1st Round match. Middle Kicks to the chest were thrown back and forth between them until HARASHIMA got Sato with a High Kick to the head. Sato fired back with a German Suplex and got some other strikes in until HARASHIMA cut him off to hit two Somatos for the win.

Junta Miyawaki jumped Chris Brookes before the bell by Dropkicking him out of the ring and then diving off the top turnbuckle to the floor. The tactic quickly backfired when Brookes reversed an Irish Whip at ringside that flung Miyawaki into the front rows of chairs. There were some close calls back in the ring with Brookes almost being pinned with the Sunshine Clutch and a German Suplex. Miyawaki also had a last gasp with trying to roll Brookes up as a counter to the Praying Mantis Bomb. Brookes cut him off with a Lariat though and used his finisher to knock Miyawaki out of the tournament.

It seemed that To-y in fact did not get over having Takeshi Masada’s two fingers stuck down his throat because he reactively started to gag whenever Masada raised his fingers towards him. He eventually got over his fear midway through the match but it wasn’t enough of a difference maker to actually make him win. Instead Masada countered the Kojima Impact and pinned his opponent with the Masada No Chikara KOBU Mukimuki to advance.

Round 1 opened up with one champion eliminating another. Hideki Okatani bested Yuya Koroku in an almost entirely clean manner. When Koroku had him in an Armlock, Okatani tried stomping his way out of the move. Koroku swapped over to the Triangle Lancer but Okatani struggled back to his feet and then forcefully pulled on the back of Koroku’s collar to free himself from the hold while choking his opponent. That opened up some space for Okatani to hit a Spinning Back Elbow. Koroku went for the Triangle Lancer once more but Okatani countered it into a Vertical Drop Brainbuster. When that didn’t end the match, Okatani then hit the Skewer-Style Claymore to get the three count.

There were two dark matches on the card featuring the rest of the DDT roster that were not taking part in the tournament. The 37KAMIINA beat DAMNATION T.A and FANTÔMES DRAMATIC in a 3 Way Tag Match. MJ Paul almost took out all of the opposition by himself. Daisuke Sasaki tried to pick up the pieces by putting Yuki Ueno in the Crossface Lock but Shunma Katsumata was there to break it up. Antonio Honda charged up the Shining Gongitsune only for Ueno to deflect it back into him. Hinata Kasai then saw his chance to try and win but Ueno cut him off pretty easily and made him tap out to a Crab Hold.

The other dark match began with former members of Harimao facing each other. Yuki Ishida and Naomi Yoshimura started off with their collisions turning into something out of sumo. Yuni and Viento Maligno then tried to out-do each other on the high flying front. Yuni was then caught by Tomomitsu Matsunaga & Masami Inahata so the two of them could baseball chop him. Jun Akiyama evened the odds when he tagged in and his team scored the win all thanks to Rukiya using a modified Fisherman Buster to pin Maligno. Rukiya grabbed Maligno’s leg by the inside of his thigh instead of the outside like you would normally do, which is what makes the R. Fisherman Buster his own unique take on the move.

The King Of DDT 2nd Round matches being held on 9th May are Danshoku Dieno Vs Takeshi Masada, Minoru Suzuki Vs Chris Brookes, HARASHIMA Vs Shinya Aoki and Hideki Okatani Vs MAO. All eight wrestlers were brought down to the ring at the end of the show to briefly interact with their next opponents.
