Former opponents Onryo & Tyson Maeguchi team up to go against the unique team of Tatsuhito Takaiwa & Shigehiro Irie. Also Ryuya Matsufusa returns to Ganpro for a match against Kouki Iwasaki.

TOKYO JOSHI PRO “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’22”, 09/07/2022
Tokyo Ota Ward Gymnasium

1. Willow Nightingale Vs X
2. Mei Suruga & Suzume Vs X & X
3. International Princess Title: Maki Itoh (c) Vs Invited Overseas Wrestler
4. Princess Of Princess Title: Shoko Nakajima (c) Vs Rika Tatsumi

American wrestler Willow Nightingale will make her Tokyo Joshi Pro debut on the show. “The Babe With The Power” is a regular on the American indies with her most high profile work being with ROH, MLW and lately AEW. An interesting note to point out is she will not be the foreign wrestler challenging Maki Itoh for the International Princess Title. Nightingale’s match will instead be announced on a later date.

May as well put it here that the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer reports on discussions to bring Thunder Rosa back to TJPW while she holds the AEW Women’s Title. This follows up on last week’s report on AEW being so impressed with Miyu Yamashita during her entire American excursion that they may want to do Rosa Vs Yamashita for the title somewhere down the road. Rosa herself hasn’t kept it a secret about how much she supports TJPW and wants to go back to Japan (and I think she let slip on one of her vlogs that it will happen sooner rather than later). That would be a big opponent for Itoh because the belt she has was taken away from Rosa two years ago.

4. Special Single Match: Yuna Manase Vs Sayaka Unagi

6. Special Single Match: Shuichiro Katsumura Vs Minoru Suzuki
7. Spirit Of Ganbare World Openweight Title: Yumehito Imanari (c) Vs Ken Ohka

Four figures from the past DNA that helped create Ganbare☆Pro are put together for a beastly tag match. You can trace Ishii, Irie, Kodaka and Shuji Ishikawa back to Ganpro’s predecessor Union Pro.

BASARA “ISAMI KODAKA 20TH ANNIVERSARY”, 18/07/2022
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

1. Lil’ Kraken Vs Raimu Imai
2. 3 Way Jacket Match: Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi Vs Gouma Vs Shiori Asahi
3. Takumi Tsukamoto, Yasu Urano & Kengo Mashimo Vs FUMA, Yusuke Kubo & Daichi Kazato

6. Isami Kodaka Vs Yuko Miyamoto

Kodaka celebrates his 20th Anniversary by taking on the wrestler who probably knows him better than anyone else in the business. Yuko Miyamoto teams on and off with Kodaka as Yankee Two Kenju and is probably the most fitting opponent available for this show.

For the first time in a long time Sparky is together at full power. All four members of the unit will team up to take on a Big Japan flavored team led by Astronauts.

Yusuke Kubo has recovered from his illness and returns to wrestling here. It will be his first match since March.

DDT “SUMMER VACATION 2022”, 24/07/2022
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

1. Makoto Oishi Return Match: Makoto Oishi Vs X

After one year away with injury, Makoto Oishi returns to the ring! Oishi suffered a back injury last July during a match and had to be stretchered out of the venue. He was diagnosed with a fractured lumbar vertebrae and hadn’t wrestled since. However he was equipped with a back brace and continued working in the background at DDT shows, even finding ways to perform on those shows without having to wrestle.

4. Vihta JP Presents Special 6-Man Tag Match ~Into The Light~: HERO! (Yuki Ueno), HERO! & Sanshiro Takagi defeated Toru Owashi, Danshoku Dieno & Masahiro Takanashi when HERO! (Ueno) pinned Dieno with the HERO! Splash (11:34).
5. Hokuo Presents Special Tag Match ~WE GOTTA NeppWER!!~: Yuko Miyamoto & Isami Kodaka defeated Konosuke Takeshita & Shunma Katsumata when Kodaka pinned Katsumata with the Ikkitousen (18:36).

Today’s heavily sponsored show was put together by The 37KAMIINA. There were many sauna related endorsements attached to the event such as a big gift voucher for a popular sauna shop in Tokyo as the prize for whoever won the main event. Konosuke Takeshita & Shunma Katsumata really wanted to win that prize put couldn’t defeat Yankee Two Kenju to get it. Instead Takeshita was dragged outside to fight with Yuko Miyamoto while Isami Kodaka pinned Katsumata with the Ikkitousen. Takeshita was still happy to wrestle against one of the most established tag teams in Japan. He asked if they could give him a lend of the voucher but Kodaka refused. Takeshita then asked the sponsor if he and Katsumata deserved a voucher of their own for their performance today. The sponsor agreed and promised to get them one. Kodaka is already familiar with Katsumata through their death matches in Big Japan but he showed interest in having a singles match against Takeshita some day.

It’s the distant future, the year 20XX. Toru Owashi, Danshoku Dieno & Masahiro Takanashi formed a new evil unit called SHOCK CHOOSE DOG to take over everything. Desperate for help, Sanshiro Takagi used a time machine to bring HERO! over and save the day! Things were looking bleak when Dieno stripped Yuki Ueno out of his wrestling gear, causing Ueno to leave the match out of protest. Even worse, SHOCK CHOOSE DOG unmasked HERO! to reveal it was HARASHIMA! Takagi screamed for help and all of a sudden, another HERO! appeared! HARASHIMA put the mask back on and the two HERO!’s worked together to stop SHOCK CHOOSE DOG once and for all. HARA-HERO! explained that the time machine must have grabbed a HERO! from two or three years before his own time, like maybe the Club ATOM era of DDT. That is going to create a time paradox so the two HERO!’s must return to their own timelines immediately. Takagi asked where Ueno went during all of this and the other HERO! said he saw him crying in the waiting room.

Meanwhile MAO had big plans for his portion of the show. Today he established the All Japan Hardcore Judo Association! He defeated Takayuki Ueki in a Hardcore Judo match that mixed judo throws with chair shots, ladder bumps and table crashes. This stipulation was used once before when MAO challenged Shinya Aoki for the DDT Extreme Title. So it is a natural choice for MAO to choose Aoki as the association’s chairman! Ueki will also be involved as an Exectuive Director while MAO himself is the President. MAO would like Naomi Yoshimura and Kazusada Higuchi to get involved too so it can grow big enough to hold two Hardcore Judo matches per event.

Hyper Misao & Mecha Mummy were the last team standing in the SSS Cup Gauntlet Match. They then found out that Katsumata is the general manager of the sauna shop that was sponsoring the match. When he presented the team with their prize, Misao suddenly sprayed him in the face! She still holds a grudge with him over their Hardcore matches that took place in Nagoya and the Tokyo Dome last year where she felt humiliated losing to him. She will still go to the sauna with Mecha Mummy though because the steam will help clean up the robot’s body.

Poor little Toui Kojima is feeling sorry for himself lately. After he lost to Aoki in the opener he apologised to him for being the weakest wrestler in DDT right now. Aoki lifted his spirits by telling him he only has room to grow. During the match Kojima tried to give Aoki a Triangle Choke which Aoki described as a good attempt. He left him with encouragement to get stronger.

7. DDT Universal Title: Daisuke Sasaki (c) Vs Minoru Fujita

Danshoku Dieno has gotten a fever and has been pulled from this weekend’s show. Since the Ultimate Tag League hasn’t started yet there was time for Yuki Iino to find a replacement and stay in the tournament. Dieno sent a message saying “Dandy” may die, but freedom will not! The philosophy of Pheromones will still be passed around the Tag League because Yumehito Imanari will replace him on the team. “Fantastic!”

DDT is teasing a wrestler from a foreign company will be appearing at the 25th Anniversary show. The special guest will be revealed on this show.

2. Hardcore Judo: MAO Vs Takayuki Ueki
3. Special Tag Match: Konosuke Takeshita & Shunma Katsumata Vs Yuko Miyamoto & Isami Kodaka

In February The 37KAMIINA is producing their own show. The main event sees Konosuke Takeshita & Shunma Katsumata taking on Yuko Miyamoto & Isami Kodaka. It’s the return of Yankee Two Kenju to DDT!

MAO is bringing back the Hardcore Judo match that was created for a DDT Extreme Title match last year. This time the freelance deathmatch wrestler Takayuki Ueki will be his opponent. Ueki also has an atheltic background in judo.

Speaking of the Hardcore Judo gimmick, Shinya Aoki will also be on the show facing Toui Kojima.

newyear2016

Korakuen Hall spent its final hours of 2016 hosting the annual New Year’s Supershow co-hosted by Big Japan, DDT, K-DOJO, WRESTLE-1 and All Japan. The entire show was built around a Shuffle Tag Team Tournament, mixing most of the wrestlers together into odd pairings. Some teams got along with each other, some didn’t but hey it’s the holidays so let’s just have fun.

newyear2016-a

The opening match saw Yukio Sakaguchi & Daichi Hashimoto barely working together to beat the Brahman Brothers. Even the evil twins suggested that their opponents would have a better chance of winning if they got along. That came back to haunt them when a stop sign attack backfired and Brahman Shu hit Brahman Kei by accident. Hashimoto then drank the Brahman’s black ink and spat it in Kei’s face, leading to the Shining Wizard to finish him off.

newyear2016-b

Kengo Mashimo & Shigehiro Irie beat Naoya Nomura & Kouki Iwasaki. The latter worked well together but they weren’t able to outlast their more experienced opponents. Irie isolated Iwasaki while Mashimo threw Nomura out of the ring. Iwasaki said he felt tense having to wrestle on the final night of the year.

newyear2016-c

The 3rd match ended in a sleazy manner thanks to Joey Ryan and Laura James. Ryan kept trying to make Yuko Miyamoto touch his groin. Referee Frank Atsushi was slammed into the turnbuckles so James ran in to interfere. This somehow led to a situation where Great Kojika was knocked onto his back, James fell down on top of him sitting on his face, Atsushi stood over her holding his groin in pain and Ryan was knocked down head first onto Kojika’s crotch. If that wasn’t enough, a dazed Miyamoto was holding a Samurai! TV camera standing over them like he was filming a porn scene. Miyamoto eventually fell on top of them for the winning pin.

newyear2016-d

The next odd couple team to come along was Yuji Okabayashi & Jiro Kuroshio. Okabayashi had not time for Kuroshio’s antics and just wanted to wrestle. Kuroshio however wanted to know if Okabayashi had a fancy jacket to match his own. He found one and offered it to Okabayashi after they beat Ayato Yoshida & Takuya Nomura but it was refused.

newyear2016-e

Daisuke Sekimoto & HARASHIMA Vs Kazusada Higuchi & Yoshihisa Uto was the first match of the night to end in a Time Limit Draw. From there the match went into sudden death 1 count fall rules. HARASHIMA and Higuchi sprinted to pin each other for just one second but neither could. It took Uto to get the upset pin on Sekimoto to win the match and knock out one-half of last year’s tournament winners in the first round.

newyear2016-f

The pairing of Sanshiro Takagi & Abdullah Kobayashi were going by the team name GET MILD. They both came out dressed in Takayuki Ueki’s old wrestling costumes with a guiding stick poking out of Takagi’s crotch. Everybody including Manabu Soya pulled out a gun during the match and dared each other to a Western showdown. But it was all a trick, Soya & Ueki both rolled over GET MILD when they turned their backs and got the three count.

newyear2016-g

Daisuke Sasaki & Yuki Sato Vs Atsushi Aoki & Kazuki Hashimoto was the next match to go into overtime. It was part of Sasaki & Sato’s plan to waste time by bringing out selfie sticks and playing around with them. Aoki jammed the stick into Sasaki’s groin then tapped out Sato with the Cross Armbreaker.

newyear2016-h

The final first round match featured Danshoku Dino trying to woo his Kaz Hayashi into being his partner in more ways than one. Hayashi eventually reciprocated and revealed he was wearing Danshoku tights under his own. Unfortunately the power of love wasn’t enough to beat Hideyoshi Kamitani & Konosuke Takeshita.

newyear2016-i

Round 2 began with Sakaguchi & Hashimoto on better terms. They needed to be if they wanted to beat Mashimo & Irie. They hit a Penalty Kick/Shining Wizard combo to Irie then Sakaguchi hit the Right Knee Of God for the three count. A handshake at the end cemented that they were now on the right page together.

newyear2016-j

The other disgruntled pairing of the tournament also finally got along. Kuroshio convinced Okabayashi to wear his fancy jacket along with a sun visor with a wig attached to it. He got into the spirit of things and did some Ikemen poses while wrestling. Their match with Yankee Two Kenju went into overtime and sadly the Ikemen dream ended badly. Isami Kodaka caught Kuroshio in a European Clutch for the one count.

newyear2016-k

Ueki had a crazy plan to beat Higuchi & Uto. It involved drinking out of a 1.5 litre bottle of Coca-Cola then tightrope walking across the top rope. What he was supposed to achieve I don’t know but he wound up slipping and crotching himself on the rope. Higuchi then pinned him with the Doctor Bomb.

newyear2016-l

Kamitani & Takeshita were the last team to qualify for the semi-final with a win over Aoki & Hashimoto. Aoki took out Takeshita with a Topé but in the ring Hashimoto was pinned by Kamitani’s Back Drop.

newyear2016awards

With the 2nd Round completed it was time for the 2016 Occupation Of The Indies Awards. Best Newcomer was given to Takuya Nomura from Big Japan. Nomura said he debuted in April and will do his best to meet everyone’s expectations. Best Show went to Ganbare☆Wrestling for “BAD COMMUNICATION 2016” held on 2nd October. Ken Ohka was there to accept the award but had to leave early to participate at “SHOTA AID” in Shin-Kiba later that night. Ohka said he eventually wants to book a show at the Tokyo Dome. Best Unit went to DAMNATION from DDT. Shuji Ishikawa celebrated by singing “Only One Flower In The World” by SMAP. He then got angry at the rest of DAMNATION for not joining in. Best Bout went to the Scaffold G Shock Death Match between Ryuji Ito Vs Kokuro Hoshino from Big Japan’s “RYOGOKUTAN” show on 24th July. Ito wasn’t happy that he lost the match but would take the award as commiseration. Finally the MVP Award went to Shuji Ishikawa. At 41 years old he would like to fight new wrestlers and win new championships.

newyear2016-m

A lottery was held to determine the semi-final match ups. First up was Kamitani & Takeshita Vs Sakaguchi & Hashimoto. Once again Kamitani’s Back Drop was the difference maker. Sakaguchi admitted he misunderstood Hashimoto at first but got to know him throughout the night in their matches. He thinks they will meet again some day.

newyear2016-n

2016 ended and 2017 begun during the Higuchi & Uto Vs Yankee Two Kenju match. Kodaka & Miyamoto both celebrated by diving out of the ring onto their opponents at the stroke of midnight. Uto claimed the first victory of the new year but giving Kodaka a Double Arm Facebuster followed by a Lariat. Miyamoto coped with defeat by grabbing the Samurai! TV camera again.

newyear2016-o

So the final was Kamitani & Takeshita Vs Higuchi & Uto in a Big Japan/DDT Vs DNA/Big Japan final. With no time limit a winner would be determined under normal circumstances. Late in the match Higuchi hit Takeshita with a Lariat but only got a one count. Kamitani blocked Higuchi from doing the Doctor Bomb but Uto got rid of him. That allowed Higuchi to give Takeshita the Goten to pin last year’s co-champion and win the tournament! Higuchi & Uto praised their opponents but they were the strongest tonight. Takeshita said he is the one who will lead DDT and he then stood up to Higuchi. In reply Higuchi said he will not lose. Kamitani said he he will lead the entire pro wrestling landscape. Uto calmed everyone down and encouraged everyone to lead pro wrestling in Japan together. The four congratulated one another and posed for the show ending photographs.

7. King Of DDT 2016 – Round 2: Shigehiro Irie defeated Kazusada Higuchi with a Tazzmission (15:50).

The King Of DDT final four has been determined. In the quarter final matches Shigehiro Irie surprised everyone by tapping out Kazusada Higuchi with a Tazzmission. This is a new move in Irie’s arsenal and to tap out Higuchi with it is quite an achievement. HARASHIMA did everyone a favour and knocked KENSO out of the tournament. Shuji Ishikawa cut short Soma Takao’s post-Drift winning streak. And last but not least Tetsuya Endo bested Kazuki Hirata who claimed his Hirata GO! glasses were at full power. A lottery was held at the end of the show to pick who would face who at the semi final. Ishikawa had to leave early so Daisuke Sasaki represented him by wearing a cardboard cutout of his face. The semi final matches are HARASHIMA Vs Endo and Ishikawa Vs Irie.

The All Asia Tag Team Title match was overshadowed by an embarrassing situation for DDT. All Japan entrusted the belts to DDT during the week but they were accidentally left behind in Nagano after Saturday’s show. The referee for the match Kyohei Wada was angry that such a thing could even happen. Both Sanshiro Takagi and Amon Tsurumi apologised and took the blame for the mismanagement of the belts. Despite the absence of the belts, the championship match between Yankee Two Kenju and Guname Express went ahead as planned. Yuko Miyamoto scored the pinfall and won a Right To Challenge Contract to go along with a successful title defence. When Miyamoto had the contract explained to him by Isami Kodaka, he asked when the next KO-D Openweight Title match was supposed to take place. He was told the 3rd July in Hakata Star Lane. Miyamoto declared he will cash in his title shot for 3rd July and will go one on one with Konosuke Takeshita! However he was warned that the match will not go ahead if he loses a match and his contract between now and then.

Dick Togo made his first appearance in DDT since announcing his intentions to come back from retirement. He explained that for the last year his desire to wrestle again became louder and louder everyday. It became so big that he can no longer take it. He has only one life and he wants to live it by being honest with himself. So he decided now is the time for his return to the ring. He announced his first match back in DDT will be on 3rd July and he is also booked for several other dates throughout the summer including “PETER PAN 2016” at Sumo Hall on 28th August. His return match is a tag bout between himself & Antonio Honda Vs Yasu Urano & Guanchulo. Togo said DDT has changed dramatically since he was gone. He looks forward to hitting the new wrestlers who have come during his absence. He looks forward to hitting his disciples again. He even looks forward to hitting whatever unknown wrestlers he might get put in the ring with.

Another Right To Challenge Contract changed hands in the dark match. Guanchulo lost his contract to Mizuki Watase.

DDT, Big Japan and K-DOJO were in Korakuen Hall for their annual New Year’s Eve event. This year the show was entirely built around a tag team tournament featuring wrestlers from all three promotions. Matches that ended in a Time Limit Draw went to Sudden Death with one count pinfalls. Danshoku Dino and Keisuke Ishii were originally supposed to compete but were both pulled from the show, Dino due to a hernia and Ishii due to a fever. Antonio Honda and Soma Takao took their places.

Yuko Miyamoto and Isami Kodaka capped off a successful 2014 by winning the tag team tournament. Yankee Nichokenju defeated four strong teams to be claimed the winners: KUDO & Yukio Sakaguchi, Makoto Oishi & Shiori Asahi, Ryuji Ito & Jaki Numazawa and in the final Yuji Hino & Yuji Okabayashi.

Konosuke Takeshita and Tetsuya Endo fought Big Japan’s deathmatch duo Ryuji Ito & Jaki Numazawa. The bout was turned into a hardcore match with steel chairs placed around the ring. Endo was left a bloody mess but he and Takeshita fought until the time expired. Unfortunately in Sudden Death, Ito pinned Endo for his team to advance. Backstage Endo said he will nominate Ito & Numazawa as the next challengers for the KO-D Tag Team Titles after they beat Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi in Saitama Super Arena!

Ito & Numazawa took the violent road up to the semi-finals. Each of their matches in the tournament were Hardcore Matches. Their semi-final against Kodaka & Miyamoto was also a Fluorescent Lighttube Death Match! It was also the match that was taking place when the clock struck midnight.

Takayuki Ueki was in the Brahman Brothers’ corner for their match against HARASHIMA & Yasu Urano. Ueki pulled out a gun and threatened to use it on everybody but it was just to distract everyone for a Diving Cross Body. Everybody just moved out of the way and he missed.

TAKA Michinoku waited until the show began to announce his mystery partner. It was The Great Kojika! Their opponents Sanshiro Takagi & Abdullah Kobayashi brought in a bucket of rice cakes to use as weapons. The plan backfired when Kojika forced a rice cake into Takagi’s mouth and pinned him in the process.

The Japan Indie Awards 2014 were presented by Samurai! TV during the show. DDT won the Best Box Office (17th August “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2014”), Best Bout (Kota Ibushi & Kenny Omega Vs Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo, 28th September) and MVP (HARASHIMA) awards. Best Unit went to Muno Taiyo (The Great Sasauke & Brahman Brothers) from Michinoku Pro and Best Newcomer went to Takayuki Ueki from Big Japan.

KO-D Tag Team Titles – 3 Way Street Fight: Isami Kodaka & Yuko Miyamoto (c) defeated Sanshiro Takagi & Kazuki Hirata and HARASHIMA & Yasu Urano when Kodaka pinned Hirata with the Diving Double Knee Drop from the bicycle parking lot roof (20:08).
*V4 for Yankii Ni Cho Kenju.

Isami Kodaka & Yuko Miyamoto continue their domination of the DDT Tag Division, this time overcoming two teams in a DDT specialty Falls Count Anywhere match. The bout took place in the bicycle parking lot of the JR Musashi Koganei Station in Tokyo. Mats were placed on the ground to represent the “squared circle.” The vice president of the station was in attendence and he thanked the crowd of 300 people for coming to see the event.

The KO-D Tag Team Champions came out both dressed as Santa Claus. Kodaka, Sanshiro Takagi and Yasu Urano started off the match. Isami played the role of the referee when Urano held Takagi in a Hammerlock. Kodaka then put Urano in the same hold and Takagi then pretended to be the ref. Takagi put Kodaka in an STF but that was broken apart when Miyamoto hit Takagi with a padded baseball bat. Miyamoto brought out frisbees and threw them at his opponents while Urano took out a cracker, placed it in Kodaka’s mouth and set it off. Later on Kodaka brought out red spray paint and sprayed the Japanese character for “Merry Christmas” on Kazuki Hirata’s back. The champions also brought out concrete blocks to put on top of their opponents when they were lying on the ground. They then used other blocks to break them!

Kodaka brought out tomatoes he purchased from a nearby store for a snack but Takagi appeared behind him and squashed an orange into his eyes. GENTARO suddenly appeared but it turns out he is a local and he was just shopping in the area. Takagi found a bicycle shop and cycled back into the match, running over Miyamoto and then Clotheslining HARASHIMA from the bike for a nearfall. The fighting returned to the section where it began except this time a house of chairs was set up. Takagi cycled towards Urano but Urano leapt out of the way leading Takagi to crash into the chairs. HARASHIMA followed up with the Somato and went for the pin but Kodaka & Miyamoto were there to break it up. The champions climbed onto the roof of the parking lot. Miyamoto Moonsaulted onto the gang below and Kodaka hit the Diving Double Knee Drop onto Hirata for the three count.
