*V2 for Daisuke Sasaki.
6. D-Ou Grand Prix 2021 II – Final: Konosuke Takeshita defeated Yuki Ueno with the Plus Ultra (27:10).

It’s a clean sweep of DDT tournaments for Konosuke Takeshita! In one year he has won King Of DDT, the first Ultimate Tag League and now he is a two time D-Ou Grand Prix champion! If that’s not enough to show his dominance this year, he went through the entire Grand Prix undefeated! His stablemate Yuki Ueno put up a big fight and took to the air while Takeshita focused on using power moves. Ueno soon matched that power and his big chance came when he hit the WR. But Takeshita got a rope break to save him from the three count. He then used a Modified Tiger Suplex to deal big damage and finally locked in the Plus Ultra. Ueno kept himself in the fight until Takeshita pulled him back onto the mat and made him submit.

Takeshita received the trophy from Kenta Kobashi. He then thanked Ueno for chasing him and catching up to his level. They’ve known each other in high school but today was really the beginning of their story. Takeshita knows they can take their matches even further so he will wait for Ueno to chase him again. Now that Takeshita won the Grand Prix, he gets to choose his next challenger for the KO-D Openweight Title. As he said this, Yuji Okabayashi walked out and gave his intent to fight him for the title. Takeshita accepted and threw the challenge to Okabayashi to have the title match at Yoyogi National Stadium on 26th December. They had their 30 minute draw in the tournament but this time since it is a title match they will get a 60 minute time limit.

The apparent longtime grudge between Daisuke Sasaki and Soma Takao came to light the last few weeks over an incident from a decade ago involving dog food. Their DDT Universal Title match had an extra stipulation where the loser would eat dog food. Sasaki attacked his opponent’s leg with a chair hoping to get him counted out. Takao got back to the ring but had to fight off Sasaki, MJ Paul and now leg damage. He was able to hit the Gin And Tonic but took too long to pin Sasaki. Things fell apart when an attempted Avalanche Pedigree ended with Sasaki getting his boot stuck on the top rope but he caught Takao in La Mistica and made him tap with an elevated Crossface Lock.

After the match Sasaki ordered Takao to eat dog food but when Takao went to do it, Sasaki stopped him. He then asked Takao to join DAMNATION T.A so they can be on the same side again. Takao threw the food away and left the ring with Shota by his side, turning down Sasaki’s sudden change of heart. Chris Brookes then entered the ring with Masahiro Takanashi and Baliyan Akki by his side. It looked like he was going to challenge for the Universal Title but instead Brookes wants Takanashi to fight Sasaki for the belt! A surprised Takanashi said if Brookes really wants him to go for the title then he will do it. Sasaki thought he retired and became a guard at some dirty hospital in Ichigaya. He told him he’s not qualified unless he eats the dog food. Takanashi proved him wrong by eating it! Sasaki didn’t expect him to do that so he agreed to the title match on 26th December. He also took the dog food back.

All of the other wrestlers in the D-Ou Grand Prix faced off in an A Block Vs B Block multi-man tag. Jun Akiyama and Kazusada Higuchi paired off against each other. Yuji Hino & Bodyguard in particular found out they make quite a team together. Their double team work on MAO was used to set Tetsuya Endo for the finish and Endo won with the Shooting Star Press. Afterwards Hino suggested to Bodyguard that they should team up more often. Bodyguard agreed and said they should go after a championship. That just so happened to get the attention of HARASHIMA & Naomi Yoshimura. They offered the new team a shot at the KO-D Tag Team Titles on 26th December. Everyone shook hands until Hino & Bodyguard attacked the champions with Lariats. Hino made fun of them for taking the challenge so easily while Bodyguard called them weak. Yoshimura lost to both of them during the tournament so this will be the perfect match to settle his “debt” with both of them. HARASHIMA said he doesn’t like the challengers’ dirty attitudes.

Takanashi had a singles win earlier before he got into the Universal Title challenge later in the show. He was weirded out by Shunma Katsumata’s sauna loving personality but slowly figured out how to beat him. Katsumata was on the offensive for most of the match but a well timed Hangover!! from Takanashi got him the win in the end.

Sanshiro Takagi had an uphill battle ahead of him. He fought against all three members of Pheromones by himself. He got some shots in early by smashing a plastic box over Danshoku Dieno’s head. Yuni Iino then slammed Takagi through a box and Pheromones attempted to strip off his tights. Hisaya Imabayashi stepped in calling for them to stop because it was a live broadcast. Dieno attacked him while Iino continued his offence on Takagi while Yumehito Imanari filmed the whole thing with his own camera.

The match got called off but Pheromones wouldn’t stop. Suddenly Atsushi Onita ran in and attacked Pheromones! They overwhelmed him but Kuro-chan then ran down with a barbed wire baseball bat. He hit both Dieno and Iino in their backsides with it. Kuro-chan called himself the leader of the team and he is going to win the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles from Pheromones! Onita said he was the leader and Kuro-chan shrunk back to his usual scaredy cat self. Onita then called Pheromones perverts. Takagi admits Pheromones have the better team work but he, Onita & Kuro-chan have the experience in explosion matches to beat them in one on 18th December! Dieno on the other hand says the battle is already won and Pheromones will save DDT!

The spotlight was put on Toui Kojima in the opening match. Not for wrestling but for the dance! After Saki Akai hit her Flying Cross Body and Antonio Honda told his Gongitsune joke, it was time for Akito and Kazuki Hirata to fight over the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title over Hirata’s entrance music. Instead Kojima cut them off and demanded to do a dance routine he has practiced since he was in elementary school. He danced while the match continued on without him until Akito submitted Honda with a Figure 4 Leg Lock.

While Akito was stuck in the move after winning, Hirata jumped on top of him and pinned him to win the Iron Man Title. Kojima tried to roll him up and others joined in the attack but Hirata fought them all off. Unfortunately Hirata tried to life Toru Owashi for a Body Slam and Owashi collapsed on top of him. The referee counted that as a pin and Owashi became the new champ.

The pre-show saw Mizuki Watase have his final match in DDT, losing to Yusuke Okada. Watase is now a full time member of Ganbare☆Pro and he had Ken Ohka in his corner. He didn’t need a microphone to give his message after the match. He yelled he is going to see a lot of the world and will grow up in Ganpro. He thanked everyone for his six years in DDT. Backstage Okada said Watase was one of his first opponents when he came to DDT and at the time he thought he was a cocky son of a bitch. Okada likes guys like Watase more than wrestlers who are quiet. He thinks they aren’t finished wrestling each other yet and they will continue to fight whether it’s in Ganpro or DDT.

Hideki Okatani & Yuya Koroku are getting more confident fighting bigger opponents. Koroku hit Yukio Naya with a Missile Dropkick and Okatani took him down with a Neckbreaker Drop. Yuki Ishida fought back with a Sitout Spinebuster to Okatani but in the end Okatani pinned him with the Northern Lights Suplex.

A big name was teased to appear in Yoyogi on 26th December and DDT announced him today. It’s Minoru Suzuki! He is making his return to DDT for the first time in five years.

Yukio Sakaguchi announced he will return to action on 26th December. He was out of action with a lumbar disc hernia. He put the roster on notice and wants this news to get the attention of all the DDT wrestlers.

The team challenge DDT put together to promote the Yoyogi show has come to an end. Team Shinjuku (Tetsuya Endo, Kazusada Higuchi, Yusuke Okada, Yukio Naya & Keigo Nakamura) were the winners and they received their prize during the opening announcements.

0. Dark Match Shunma Katsumata Produce – My First Hardcore Match: Shunma Katsumata & Toui Kojima Vs Hideki Okatani & Yuya Koroku

4. D-Ou Grand Prix 2021 II – B Block: HARASHIMA (0) Vs Yuji Okabayashi (7)
5. D-Ou Grand Prix 2021 II – B Block: Konosuke Takeshita (7) Vs Kazusada Higuchi (4)
6. D-Ou Grand Prix 2021 II – A Block: Tetsuya Endo (6) Vs Yuki Ueno (4)

The last day of the group stages is coming down to the wire in both blocks. If Tetsuya Endo wins the main event or it ends in a draw then he qualifies for the final. I think if Yuki Ueno wins he will go straight to the final because he will get the Head To Head tiebreakers over Endo and Yuji Hino. Where it gets confusing is if Jun Akiyama or Bodyguard also wins and we end up with a four way tie. I guess it would still be Ueno because he will have two Head To Head wins in this bubble and the others will just have one. Does that come into effect with Bodyguard thought because he already beat Ueno? Oh my head hurts.

The B Block is more simpler. The race is between Konosuke Takeshita and Yuji Okabayashi who are both unbeaten. If they still end up with the same points after their matches then a sudden death tiebreaker must take place. Their previous match was a draw so there is no other way to determine who goes through (I think there was a G1 that used total match times as a tiebreaker one year but we’re getting too far into the weeds at this point).

Kenta Kobashi and Tetsu Inada will be at the show. Maybe they can figure out the tiebreakers.

The biggest challenge of Yuki Arai’s pro wrestling life is coming. She has been asking for a match against Miyu Yamashita and it will happen at her idol home base in Nagoya.

1. Special 6-Man Tag Match: Susumu Yokosuka, Toru Owashi & Kazuki Hirata Vs Chris Brookes, Antonio Honda & Akito
2. KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles – Current Blast Death Match: Danshoku “Dandy” Dieno, Yuki “Sexy” Iino & Yumehito “Fantastic” Imanari (c) Vs Atsushi Onita, Sanshiro Takagi & Kuro-chan

The feud between Sanshiro Takagi and Pheromones is reaching extreme levels. A team was needed to take on Takagi, Atsushi Onita & Kuro-chan in the Current Blast Death Match so the challenge was thrown out for Pheromones to put the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles on the line!

Last time Toru Owashi invited a DRAGONGATE wrestler over to a DDT show in Nagoya it worked out pretty well. He’s doing it again by booking Susumu Yokosuka to team with him and Kazuki Hirata. Bet Yokosuka is thrilled, we all know about his dancing efforts. This will be his first time in DDT proper if you ignore the Dramatic Dream Gate shows from 2007 and 2008.

5. D-Ou Grand Prix 2021 II – B Block: Chris Brookes (4) defeated MAO (4) by Countout (16:51).
6. D-Ou Grand Prix 2021 II – B Block: Konosuke Takeshita (7) defeated HARASHIMA (0) with the Roll-Through German Suplex (16:19).
7. D-Ou Grand Prix 2021 II – B Block: Yuji Okabayashi (7) defeated Kazusada Higuchi (4) with the Golem Splash (23:39).

A Block

1. Tetsuya Endo (6)
-. Yuji Hino (6)
3. Bodyguard (4)
-. Yuki Ueno (4)
-. Jun Akiyama (4)
6. Naomi Yoshimura (2)

B Block

1. Konosuke Takeshita (7)
-. Yuji Okabayashi (7)
3. Kazusada Higuchi (4)
-. Chris Brookes (4)
-. MAO (4)
6. HARASHIMA (0)

The race in B Block is as tight as it ever could be between two people. Yuji Okabayashi kept up his unbeaten streak by defeating Kazusada Higuchi. In a show of bravado during the match Higuchi told the crowd he was about to do the Golem Splash. But when he climbed the ropes, Okabayashi rushed up to him and did an Avalanche Brainbuster. Okabayashi then said he would do the Golem Splash and Higuchi did the same Avalanche Brainbuster to him. Clashing Lariats afterward almost knocked both of them out but they each got back up before the 10 count. Okabayashi deflected the Brain Claw with more Lariats but that along with a Power Bomb couldn’t keep Higuchi down. It took the Golem Splash hit full and proper for Okabayashi to finally win. He told Higuchi after the match that they would fight each other again some day.

Konosuke Takeshita also won his match today in order to stay neck and neck with Okabayashi. The victory was over the winless HARASHIMA, continuing the longtime veteran’s fall from grace throughout this edition of the D-Ou Grand Prix. HARASHIMA missing the Somato gave Takeshita the opening to win with the Roll-Through German Suplex. The result is not being taken for granted. Takeshita knew HARASHIMA is in good shape despite his losing streak. What’s different is Takeshita’s generation have now figured out their own ways of beating the old guard in DDT after studying them. For example, Takeshita says he has about 10 ways to counter the Somato and he used 3 or 4 of them today. On the final day Takeshita has to face Higuchi while Okabayashi will take on HARASHIMA. The results will decide who goes through to the grand final which is all the motivation Higuchi and HARASHIMA need to play spoiler.

With nothing to fight for except pride in their final block match, Chris Brookes and MAO took it upon themselves to make a mess around the venue. They fought outside the ring where MAO tried to run Brookes over with a massive truck tyre. They then went up to the balcony and Brookes tried to throw MAO over the railing. If that wasn’t enough they took the fight outside the building. The audience that stayed inside had to look at Makoto Oishi promoting Wrestle Universe while they waited for the wrestlers to return. Outside the building there was a castle of chairs built for Brookes to crash MAO into. As they chased each other back inside, Brookes gave MAO the Praying Mantis Bomb through some chairs. He then wedged MAO upside down into a stack of other chairs and made it back to the ring in time to be declared the winner by countout. Brookes said the result was not a surprise because MAO is stupid and easy to beat. MAO said Brookes was meant to be in DDT and this is the DDT he fell in love with.

Over in the A Block the competitive field has become more open with today’s results. Bodyguard cut off Yuki Ueno’s momentum with his sheer power. He blocked the WR and used the Rising High Kick to great effect. Once Ueno was put into the Rising Dragon he had nothing left and the match was stopped. Ueno’s back and forth results makes him think he is alternating between dream and reality. He’s been learning more about himself in this tournament than he was when he held the DDT Universal Title. He now has to fight Tetsuya Endo on the final day while Bodyguard meets Jun Akiyama.

Yuji Hino shares the top spot with Endo going into the final day. Unlucky Naomi Yoshimura didn’t have the power in his Lariats to put down the bigger opponent. Instead Hino lifted him up and Fuckin’ BOMBed him for the win. Now all Hino has left to do is wait and see how the remaining block matches on 21st November will go. It’s out of his hands right now. Yoshimura thinks it is pathetic that he could only win one match in this tournament. He can’t figure out how he was able to beat Yuki Ueno but lose to everyone else. He doesn’t know what is keeping him from beating Jun Akiyama or what the difference is between himself and Yuji Hino. He is a tag champion but didn’t bring the belt for all of his matches because he was focused on singles wrestling. All he can promise right now is to work harder in both singles and tag wrestling from now on for both himself and DISASTER BOX.

A bombshell was dropped at the start of the show when the GM Hisaya Imabayashi was convinced to join Pheromones! At first they were going to take him hostage but Danshoku Dieno started asking when was the last time Sanshiro Takagi said “thank you” to him? The GM made his decision by giving Takagi a Stunner. He then started screaming “Employees are not slaves! Raise their Wages! Give them more holidays!” before storming off with his new allies. Takagi told the audience Imabayashi was just tired from working hard.

Imabayashi came back out for the Pheromones match continuing to his rallying cry for workers around the country to stand up against their bosses. Dieno offered him a chair to attack Takagi with but Imabayashi had a change of heart and couldn’t do it. He then gave Dieno a Brainbuster when Dieno tried to bully him! Pheromones knocked him out while Yuki Iino submitted Yuya Koroku to win. After the match Takagi challenged Pheromones for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles as revenge for them harming his employee. His tag partners are going to be Atsushi Onita and Kuro-chan. That’s right, the Current Blast Death Match happening in Nagoya on 18th December is now a title defence for Pheromones! Dieno threatened to blast Takagi in every position Imabayashi was blasted in. When they left, Takagi told an unconscious Imabayashi to please come to work on time tomorrow morning. He’ll be limited to only working 8 hours a day so he won’t get tired again. But that’s it!

*The 37KAMIINA fails in V3. DISASTER BOX becomes the 71st KO-D Tag Team Champions!

There was one message DISASTER BOX wanted the everyone to know after the DRAMATIC SURVIVOR tournament. Never say this unit is done for ever again! The proof of DISASTER BOX’s renewed strength was shown in the main event when HARASHIMA & Naomi Yoshimura won the KO-D Tag Team Titles! The team were at full strength with Yoshimura kicking out of the MADMAX and then HARASHIMA kicking out of the Firebird Splash from Shunma Katsumata. Yoshimura set up 37KAMIINA’s downfall by giving Konosuke Takeshita a Back Drop. HARASHIMA followed up with the Somato to wipe him out of action. Yoshimura then turned his attention to Katsumata and pinned him with the Throwaway Power Bomb.

Yoshimura excitedly shouted “I won!” and passed the microphone over to HARASHIMA. He thanked everyone for supporting them and then thanked Yoshimura for a great performance. Today is proof that DISASTER BOX is still strong and now HARASHIMA is looking forward to fighting Takeshita in the D-Ou Grand Prix. Yoshimura is in a different block but he also told Takeshita to expect a KO-D Openweight Title challenge from him in the future. The rest of DISASTER BOX entered the ring and they all promised to aim for the top in DDT.

Being a babyface is a tough job. Daisuke Sasaki learned that lesson today. His opponent Isami Kodaka entered the ring wearing a Fujita Pro Wrestling School in support of Minoru Fujita as well as Fujita’s Sento Minzoku tail. Fujita was Sasaki’s original challenger for the DDT Universal Title but Fujita fell ill with Covid and currently cannot wrestle. Sasaki’s commitment to being a babyface won through though and he submitted Kodaka with the Crossover Facelock. They hugged and shook hands after the match. Sasaki even said he would like to show up in BASARA if Kodaka ever wants him to.

Sasaki continued his babyface promo until he started stuttering and losing track. He couldn’t do it anymore. He’s no babyface, he’s a crazy guy! He quits being a babyface! DAMNATION was destroyed and he will never forgive the one responsible for breaking the hearts of every DAMNATION fan. Sasaki is forming a new unit called DAMNATION T.A. (Total Addiction)! He called down Tetsuya Endo & Soma Takao to the ring but when Takao rolled in, Sasaki immediately Super Kicked him. Sasaki doesn’t want any of them because they’re the ones responsible for DAMNATION’s demise! Takao fought back but got a Low Blow from Sasaki. Then Mad Paulie, or somebody who resembles Mad Paulie came out and floored Takao with a Lariat. Sasaki introduced everyone to the new Paulie he found deep in the forests of Nerima. It’s the cruel slaughter machine MJ Paul (The MJ stands for Murder Junky)! Sasaki promised that DAMNATION T.A. will bring destruction and chaos from here on out! Backstage Takao swore revenge on the two of them.

The D-Ou Grand Prix preview match went off to an awkward start with Endo and Yuji Hino beginning the match against each other. Endo would attempt to put Hino in a Torture Rack but couldn’t pull it off. Yuki Ueno & MAO worked together in an effort to break down Kazusada Higuchi. Ueno was taken care of with a dive from Chris Brookes. Back in the ring, MAO got on Higuchi’s nerves and tried to tangle him up in pinning holds. That ended with Higuchi catching MAO with a Lariat and pinning him with the Brain Claw Slam. After the match Endo said he will win the Grand Prix and he will also beat Hino with the Torture Rack Bomb on 3rd November. Hino replied they are enemies now that DAMNATION is gone and he will beat Endo with the Fuckin’ BOMB instead. Higuchi, Brookes and Ueno also staked their claim to win the tournament. MAO too but he collapsed while he gave his speech since he was still feeling beaten up.

The Pheromones match went to another no contest. Not even Sanshiro Takagi bringing out the kettlebell that injured him made much of a difference. Toru Owashi made a brave stand to protect Takao but Phermones easily ignored him and attacked Takao anyway. Dansoku Dieno grabbed Takao’s steel basin and dropped it on Takagi’s head, sending him to the back to get aid. Dieno & Yuki Iino then set up a Double Hell Gate in the corner. Yumehito Imanari grabbed one of the TV cameras and threatened to get a close up on the Double Hell Gate when a furious Hisaya Imabayashi called off the match.

Pheromones grabbed Imabayashi and threw him into Iino’s backside. Takagi returned afterwards with Yusuke Okada by his side. They held out handcuffs and told Pheromones what they are doing on a live broadcast is a crime. Takagi has formed a team of ex-cops to beat Pheromones on 3rd November. It will be him, Okada and Shinya Aoki teaming together! A still bloody Aoki (more on that below) came out and said Pheromones are getting carried away. Dieno defended his side by explaining it is up to professionals like them to turn crime into entertainment! Pheromones will take you to a world you’ve never seen before!

Aoki ended up in a bloody state because Yumiko Hotta beat him up good. The DDT Extreme Title match between them was under normal pro wrestling rules but Hotta attacked Aoki with a chair kept throwing him into the security fence around ringside until she was disqualified. Hotta got on the microphone and said she is just doing her style of AJW pro wrestling and demanded a restart. Aoki agreed and the match was no No DQ but for Hotta only. This time Hotta attacked Aoki with a steel chain but when she went for the Pyramid Bomb, Aoki countered it into an Armlock to make her tap out. A brawl broke out after the match and the two of them had to be separated.

The KO-D 8-Man Tag Team Titles match was the first time meeting between Yoshiaki Yatsu and Jun Akiyama. Also both Team Olympian and Junretsu made claims to disband if their team lost so the match was high stakes even without the titles involved. Hiroshi Yamato did the better against Hideki Okatani by hitting him with the Cross Chop. Junretsu took control by isolating Keigo Nakamura. The tables turned when Yatsu gave Okada the Yatsugoye/Iron Knee. Junretsu regained control and hit a combination of attacks on Akito ending with Mizuki Watase in the ring with him. Akito rolled him up with the Airplane Throw to get the three count out of nowhere.

Kazuki Hirata approached Team Olympian after the match with Yoshihiko, Owashi and Antonio Honda all by his side. Hirata asked the fans if they liked his match against Yoshihiko earlier and if they should team together? In order to make this potential team come to life they need a championship so they want the 8-Man Tag Belts with Owashi & Honda! Yatsu agreed and the match will take place in Ota Ward Gymnasium on 3rd November.

But what about Junretsu? They have to live up to their promise and disband because they didn’t win the belts. Makoto Oishi confirmed it but asked if the unit could have one more match so they can leave on happier terms. Okada suggested if they win this match then Junretsu can continue. Oishi said Junretsu and The 37KAMIINA have a 6-Man Tag match in Fuji later this month. They can turn it into an 8-Man Tag and he will be there as the ring announcer so the entire Junretsu unit will all be in the same place. Okada & Okatani liked the idea but Watase was silent throughout the entire team talk.

The debuting Yuki Ishida brought the fight to Higuchi in the sumo versus sumo matchup. Higuchi stood his ground against Ishida’s attacks until the rookie threw Sumo Slaps at him into the corner. He followed up with Corner Splashes and a Sitout Spinebuster for a nearfall. Higuchi took over with a Lariat and the Oklahoma Stampede then pinned him with a Choke Slam. Higuchi shook his hand after the match. Ishida said he wants to devote himself to becoming a pro wrestler so he can some day overtake Higuchi. He also wants to be unique with his sumo style, aiming to be as strong as Kensuke Sasaki but with the speed of El Lindaman, who is closer to his size.

Three Dark Matches extended the show’s full length. Riko Kawahata made her DDT debut entering the ring with an energetic dance. She did well against Saki Akai but her big mistake was doing a Moonsault. Akai blocked it with her knees. Kawabata still had her wits about to dodge the Rookie Award but Akai followed up with a Buzzsaw Kick and applied a Triangle Choke to make her submit. Akai told Kawahata she got to understand AJW-ism from her but she was born and raised in DDT. She wants the two of them to carry their different legacies and do their best for each other from now on.

The bad blood between Hirata and Yoshihiko is now all water under the bridge. They settled their score in a singles match where Yoshihiko came out on top. The doll targeted Hirata’s arm before going for its tried and tested Reincarnation. Hirata tried to do the Viagra Driver but Yoshihiko countered it into the Reincarnation again. Hirata kicked out but his momentum was turned against him as he rolled right into an Arm Lock. Hirata gave up but swallowed his pride and shook Yoshihiko’s hand after the match. The two left the ring together shoulder to shoulder.

The trio representing ChocoPro made their promotion proud with a win in the very first match of the day. When Yuko Naya blocked Honda’s Gongitsune, Baliyan Akki lifted Masahiro Takanashi onto his shoulders to reach out and poke Naya in the eyes with his own Gongitsune. The others kept Naya & Gota Ihashi at bay while Akki pinned Yuya Koroku with the Namaste Press.

The Rojo Pro Wrestling show at the Tokyo Dome on 31st October now has a prize attached to it. The winners of the DDT TOKYO DOME CUP will receive 5,000,000 yen. Five teams will enter and two have been announced. The 37KAMIINA are the first team. The second team consists of Chris Brookes, The Brahman Brothers & Gorgeous Matsuno.

Atsushi Onita returns to DDT on 18th December in Nagoya for a Current Blast Death Match.

In 2022 DDT will hold shows at Shinjuku FACE with 0 yen ticket prices once a month for the entire year. This is part of DDT’s 25th Anniversary celebrations.

6. KO-D Openweight Title – BLACKOUT Presents: Konosuke Takeshita defeated Jun Akiyama (c) with the Modified Chickenwing Facelock (24:43).
*Jun Akiyama fails in V4. Konosuke Takeshita becomes the 77th KO-D Openweight Champion!

The first outdoor “WRESTLE PETER PAN” saw Konosuke Takeshita finally beat Jun Akiyama and reclaim the KO-D Openweight Title. They fought back and forth with Exploders and German Suplexes one after the other while Kenta Kobashi watched from ringside. Both also tried to win with their submission finishers. Akiyama with the Front Neck Lock and Takeshita with the Modified Chickenwing Facelock. When all else failed they went to their Knee Strikes until one stayed down. Takeshita pulled down his knee pad before hitting more Zahi Knee Strikes but Akiyama wouldn’t stay down. He had to throw Akiyama with the Cross-Arm German Suplex and then apply the Modified Chickenwing Facelock once more. The move Takeshita invented to Akiyama finally achieved its purpose and the champion tapped out!

When Takeshita was given the KO-D Title belt, he said today was not the end. He will defend the title with all of his might, become stronger and have a rematch with Akiyama this time so he can beat him as the champion. Akiyama accepted defeat but said he will get it back, just you wait and see. Chris Brookes then entered the ring and told Takeshita he hasn’t beaten him one on one in over two years. Brookes wants a shot at the title! Takeshita accepted the challenge and it will take place on the 26th September Korakuen Hall show.

Daisuke Sasaki entered Fujitsu Stadium Kawasaki holding the DDT Universal Title and he gets to leave with it. Except now he actually is the Universal Champion. After weeks of theft, cheap shots and violence Yuki Ueno couldn’t get revenge for everything Sasaki had done to him. Sasaki busted him open with a belt shot. Later Mad Paulie pulled the referee away when Ueno had Sasaki pinned after a Shining Wizard. Ueno Dropkicked Paulie and Moonsaulted onto both of them outside the ring. Everything was going so well for Ueno he was even avoiding Sasaki’s cheating. But Sasaki countered the WR into La Mistica Crossover Facelock and forced Ueno to give up. Backstage Ueno admitted that Sasaki has stolen everything from him. Now it is his turn to take away everything that Sasaki cherishes. For now that threat is falling on deaf ears. Sasaki heard the guest commentator Sumire Uesaka praised him a lot during his match. He wants her address so he can mail her a marriage certificate.

Tensions were high when DAMNATION and Eruption fought for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles. From the start they were ready to fight when Soma Takao threw his belt down at Yukio Sakaguchi. Meanwhile Saki Akai kept posturing at Yuji Hino, demanding he take her seriously and throw his strong Chops at her. Hino overpowered Akai but Sakaguchi & Kazusada Higuchi were there to break the pins. Tetsuya Endo wiped out nearly everyone with a Swan Dive Shooting Star Press out of the ring. That left Akai and Hino alone to fight. Akai kept chopping and kicking Hino until he finally threw the Chop her way. Akai kicked out of the pin so Hino hit her with a Lariat. Akai kicked out of that too and still tried to fight back. Hino had to put her away with the Fuckin’ BOMB to end the match. Afterwards Hino reminded Akai of all the jokes he previously made about her being a woman. Well now he can say she is also a pro wrestler!

Jun Kasai got a taste of hardcore wrestling The 37KAMIINA style. It involves Lego. Lots and lots of Lego. Shunma Katsumata & MAO filled the ring with the toy blocks and smashed a few plastic cases along the way. Katsumata even decided to wrestle barefoot, daring Kasai to follow his lead. Kasai told him he is a man and he would but couldn’t get his wrestling boots off in time before Katsumata attacked him. Katsumata did a Moonsault Double Stomp but Kasai rolled out of the way, making him land bare feet first onto the Lego! Brookes then threw him into a ladder with the Tropical☆Yahoo. The 37KAMIINA fought back by digging skewers into their opponents’ heads. Kasai then turned the danger up a notch by blocking a Katsumata dive with a knife! He then gave Katsumata the Reverse Tiger Driver while Brookes pinned MAO with the Praying Mantis Bomb, all on the Lego for the finish. Afterwards Kasai admitted the “relaxing” hardcore matches The 37KAMIINA put together are actually fun, like a good memory from a summer vacation.

DDT’s first ever Double Ring Double Singles Matches both ended in eleven seconds. Toru Owashi immediately pinned Antonio Honda and Danshoku Dieno immediately pinned Kazuki Hirata with the same moves at the same time. Hisaya Imabayashi wasn’t sure what had happened because he couldn’t see both matches at once. So he called for both matches to restart but this time to keep them in the same ring. The rematches fell apart when the referees Yukinori Matsui and Daisuke Kiso kept getting in each other’s way. They soon started fighting each other and the wrestlers had to keep them apart. Imabayashi then had an idea to turn everything into a 3 Vs 3 match: Owashi, Honda & Kiso Vs Dieno, Hirata & Matsui with Imabayashi as the ref. Matsui’s team put Kiso in the Kaientai pose and Dieno applied the Lip Lock. Kiso then suddenly countered Matsui’s Brainbuster into a Small Package to grab victory from the jaws of defeat.

The opening match was the debuts of El Unicorn and Ilusion from the DDT Teenage Project. They were given a chance to shine and literally wrestle on top of everyone else. While the other 8 participants were locked up in a multi-man suplex struggle, Unicorn and Ilusion climbed on top of them to fight each other. It ended with Ilusion Suplexing Unicorn onto the pile below. Yuji Okabayashi’s team then won out on the multi-man Suplex spot. Ilusion Dropkicked Yusuke Okada and then joined in with Mizuki Watase to dive onto everybody outside the ring. Unicorn came back and hit a Dragonrana to Ilusion then pinned him with a Modified Double Knee Stomp. Backstage Ilusion swore to avenge his loss when he faces Unicorn in a singles match on 29th August. Yuki Iino went around searching for Naomi Yoshimura to continue fighting him. HARASHIMA and TAMURA both praised the young wrestlers for their efforts. Raimu Imai asked if he could wrestle in DDT again.

The pre-show match a a calm affair. Just a Current Blast Death Match, no biggie. Everyone was dressed for battle except for Akito, who wrestled in a suit. Kuro-chan used Hikari Noa as a shield to prevent Atsushi Onita from swinging the blast bat at him. Tetsuhiro Kuroda grabbed the bat and handed it to Kuro-chan so he could blast Onita with it. Onita got revenge by Piledriving Kuroda onto a table. Super Sasadango Machine tried to fight off everyone with a chair. Maki Itoh and Noa had a standoff with each holding blast bats. They swung at each other causing a big explosion. When the dust cleared the match came down to Onita and Kuro-chan. Onita hit his Kuro-chan with the blast bat and got the three count. After the match Onita poured water over him and with Sanshiro Takagi’s help, aided in carrying him out of the ring. Kuro-chan begged for forgiveness until Onita told him he has the qualities of a pro wrestler. It’s time for him to enter Mr. Onita’s office for a talk…

The other pre-show match saw Yukio Naya & Keigo Nakamura beat Hideki Okatani & Yuya Koroku. The least experience wrestler of the four Koroku kicked out of Naya’s Scrapbuster and Running Knee Lift. But he was put down with a Choke Slam, giving Naya’s team the win.

At the end of the show, Takagi revealed one last gift for the DDT fans. The final major DDT event of 2021 will take place at Yoyogi Gymnasium #2 on 26th December. It will be DDT’s first time in the venue.

6. KO-D Openweight Title – BLACKOUT Presents: Jun Akiyama (c) Vs Konosuke Takeshita

As danger and uncertainty over the pandemic remains around the world, the wrestling industry is determined to chug along and to stick to their plans. This weekend more than any other is proof of that. In America, the next couple of days will no doubt become a landmark period for the modern era with massive shows from two companies along with the long awaited return of a certain hockey fan from Chicago. Japan isn’t taking it easy either as some companies begin to head outdoors for major shows held at sports stadiums. That’s what DDT is up to for “WRESTLE PETER PAN” this year. They will be at Fujitsu Stadium Kawasaki, the former home of FMW’s most legendary battles. The actual venue is different because it went through renovations in the 2000s and also a name change in 2014. Hopefully the spirit of those famous shows still remains when DDT takes their crack at it. Pandemic restrictions are in place so the card is shorter than usual. Plus the risk of last minute cancellations can rear its ugly head. At this point we just have to keep our fingers crossed. There is something extra added to the show. Two wrestling rings will be set up in the stadium. The reason why will be explained in the related matches below.

0. Under Match: Yukio Naya & Keigo Nakamura Vs Hideki Okatani & Yuya Koroku

Let’s see how the low tier of DDT’s undercard has been doing lately. Yukio Naya is slotted into the novelty matches. He’s there when DDT needs a heavyweight so he’ll always have a place on the card. His family ties also means he will be a regular for any matches built around product placement. Keigo Nakamura stepped up a level by being part of the new KO-D 8-Man Tag Team Champions in Team Olympian. He has new ring gear too which is usually a sign of a wrestler moving onto the next stage of his career. He is still often the butt of jokes but when he gets the chance to be serious in the ring, he takes it. Hideki Okatani is probably the one out of this lot who advanced the most over the last year. He should have, given who he is learning from in Junretsu. He is still far away from being a polished product but he definitely moved up to No. 3 in his unit in the last few months. Yuya Koroku debuted in DDT back in April and comes from the highly regarded Animal Hamaguchi Gym. His work so far has been promising but he had a slight setback earlier this month that made him miss a few shows. That’s the problem with rookies. They break easily.

0. Electric Current Explosion 8-Man Tag Death Match: Atsushi Onita, Sanshiro Takagi, Akito & Maki Itoh Vs Kuro-chan, Super Sasadango Machine, Tetsuhiro Kuroda & Hikari Noa

Here is how loaded this weekend is. DDT has to blow up a ring at Kawasaki Stadium during the dark match to get any sort of attention! If you’re doing a major wrestling show inside Kawasaki Stadium then you have to have Atsushi Onita in an Exploding Ring Death Match. Those are the rules. That is why DDT is setting up two rings, one for the regular matches and one for Onita to blow up. As soon as Onita found out about the second ring he got in touch with DDT and demanded his match take place on the pre-show! His reasoning is it takes a lot of time and dedication to set up the explosives so he wants it to be over and done with before the main show even begins. It also sneakily moves the match over to the main ring instead of the side ring because DDT now has time to clean up the mess after the pre-show. That Onita really is a sneaky git. He has promised to use three to five times the amount of gun powder for explosions than these matches usually use.

The match itself has a lot to unpack. Onita’s run in DDT over the last year has seen him feud with a pervy comedian named Kuro-chan. Onita gets the win most of the time but their last match in December ended in a massive upset. Kuro-chan pinned Onita one, two, three! He stole Onita’s jacket, called himself the new “Evil Ways” and left thinking that was the end of it. Demands for a rematch were ignored by Kuro-chan until his manager got wind of it and decided “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2021” would be the perfect time and place for it to happen. The two went to put their teams together. Onita has DDT’s crazy president Sanshiro Takagi, the not yet crazy Vice President Akito and the right amount of crazy Maki Itoh. Kuro-chan has to team with Super Sasadango Machine because they both have the same agent. However his also gets Hikari Noa and FMW alumni Tetsuhiro Kuroda, which improves his team’s chances. Sasadango had to lie about Noa thinking Kuro-chan is cute to convince him to finally accept the match. Noa in particular has been wanting to do death matches for ages. Her goal is to either run over Takagi in a truck, blow him up in an explosion or do both. The stage is set and one last factor has been added to the match. Kuro-chan wants sole ownership of Exploding Ring Death Matches if his team wins! He also wants Onita to retire when he loses but we all know what that is worth so just ignore that bit.

1. Special 10-Man Tag Match – El Unicorn & Ilusion Debut Match: HARASHIMA, Naomi Yoshimura, Yusuke Okada, Raimu Imai & El Unicorn Vs Yuji Okabayashi, TAMURA, Mizuki Watase, Yuki Iino & Ilusion

DDT looks to the future with the introduction to the DDT Teenage Project. They have spent the last year training four teenagers in secret to become pro wrestlers. Two of them are ready to have their official debut match. On one team is the 13 year old, El Unicorn. On the other is Ilusion, 18 years old. The project is meant to be for those aged 15-18 but there is a reason El Unicorn is there. Not to spoil the kid’s identity but he was already under DDT contract before this project began. Both rookies are eager to fight the larger wrestlers like Naomi Yoshimura and Yuji Okabayashi. There’s another teenager in the match too. Raimu Imai from HEAT-UP is 16 years old and still in his first year of wrestling. His claim to fame is his mother Eriko Imai is a former pop singer and current member of Japan’s House Of Councillors. Raimu’s master TAMURA is on the opposite team. He marvels over how quickly the new generation of wrestlers get to make it to the ring. HARASHIMA and Okabayashi were last seen together as Smile Pissari but they are opponents here. Yusuke Okada and Yuki Iino get to collide with stronger opponents. Last but not least there is Mizuki Watase, who recently returned from injury and finds himself restarting his wrestling progression from scratch again.

2. Double Ring Double Singles Match: Toru Owashi Vs Antonio Honda
2. Double Ring Double Singles Match: Danshoku Dieno Vs Kazuki Hirata

Look, spots for this show are sparse this time around and DDT isn’t able to produce two dozen matches in one night. This isn’t an AEW taping. With the card filling up, the groups of wrestlers nicknamed the DDT Variety Team all began to squabbling with one another. This resulted in them all challenging each other to singles matches, no doubt earning two of them coveted main event spot. That wasn’t going to happen. Hisaya Imabayashi told the wrestlers there was room left on the show for only one more match. They can do Toru Owashi Vs Antonio Honda or Danshoku Dieno Vs Kazuki Hirata but not both. Hirata then had a brilliant idea. There will be two rings available so why not do both matches at the same time? Imabayashi loved the idea and put forth DDT’s first ever Double Ring Double Singles Match! Just don’t be surprised if the two matches still interact and get mixed up with each other. Oh and I think Dieno is currently the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion. I lost track of that.

3. Special Hardcore Tag Match: Shunma Katsumata & MAO Vs Chris Brookes & Jun Kasai

The main card gets some of the violence left over from the pre-show. Is there anything you can do to Jun Kasai that would hurt him? He’s been through it all, literally if the thing is made out of glass. He sees the hardcore matches DDT have been doing over the last year and they left him feeling lukewarm. The weapons used and the atmosphere surrounding the matches are a bit too relaxed for his tastes. Relaxed is the accurate word to use given these matches have involved Shunma Katsumata & MAO from The 37KAMIINA (The Sauna KAMIINA). Their obsession with saunas rose to new levels ever since the DDT Sauna Club was formed. They aren’t pushovers though. Katsumata is wrestling death matches in Big Japan more often and MAO always has fucked up ideas for things to do in the ring. They want to show Kasai they can dish him the worst pain he has ever felt and they know just what to use. They found out that Kasai doesn’t like the pain you get from stepping on Lego. It’s his biggest weakness! Kasai refuses to confirm if that’s true or not, explaining that he never feels pain from anything when he wrestles in front of his fans. During all of this, Chris Brookes began feeling like the odd man out. He doesn’t even appear in the advert for the match! All the attention is on the other three and he doesn’t like that. He’ll take his anger out on Katsumata to feel better.

4. KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles: Tetsuya Endo, Soma Takao & Yuji Hino (c) Vs Kazusada Higuchi, Yukio Sakaguchi & Saki Akai

DAMNATION’s most successful ventures over the last half year have been in the trios division. After Tetsuya Endo was finally knocked off the top of the mountain, he rallied together Soma Takao and new member Yuji Hino to win the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles. Endo was then able to defend the belts in his hometown. He has felt invincible ever since and thinks he has the power to banish those he defeated from his hometown. The big challengers coming in are Eruption. They held the titles before and Saki Akai in particular thinks it is time to take them back. The build up has seen Kazusada Higuchi reignite his rivalry with Endo. Yukio Sakaguchi and Takao has come to blows several times too. But the spotlight shines brightest on Akai along with Hino’s reaction to her being in the match. Hino thinks Eruption are fighting with a handicap because a woman is on their team. He also refuses to throw any Chops at Akai because he is convinced they would legit murder her. All this attitude has done is fire Akai up even more to prove her doubters wrong. She’s been wrestling for 8 years now and has shown she is not a one trick pony. It also created an unusual situation where Akai slaps around her partners because they haven’t been as determined as she is to win! Keep in mind this is when Sakaguchi is constantly getting into fights with Takao.

5. DDT Universal Title: Yuki Ueno (c) Vs Daisuke Sasaki

DAMNATION’s second most successful venture over the last half year is Daisuke Sasaki stealing the DDT Universal Title belt from Yuki Ueno. I didn’t say winning the championship, I mean literally stealing the belt. That’s not to say Sasaki hasn’t brought it in the ring. He has won several big matches in the King Of DDT tournament by cheating like hell throughout the whole thing. That includes a quick win over Ueno. Another quick win in a later tag match resulted in Ueno giving Sasaki a title shot in order to win back his pride. Big mistake. That is what caused Sasaki to blindside Ueno, steal the title belt and promise to humiliate him even further. The last month has seen Ueno chasing after Sasaki only to see him get away with the belt time and time again. Their last confrontation inside a ring ended with Sasaki beating Ueno bloody. What has been a breakout year for Ueno has since turned sour and could take a turn for the worse if he can’t get his title back.

6. KO-D Openweight Title – BLACKOUT Presents: Jun Akiyama (c) Vs Konosuke Takeshita

Talk about a deal paying off big time. Jun Akiyama to DDT could not have worked out any better if I do say so myself. He is now six months into his KO-D Openweight Title reign with three defences under his belt. He has also taken to the player/coach role in Junretsu rather well (just remember Makoto Oishi is the official leader). The likes of Endo, Higuchi, Dieno and HARASHIMA have all failed to beat him. And then there is Konosuke Takeshita. What a journey this guy has been on. He went through two singles losses to Akiyama in back to back months at the end of 2020. Those results made him self reflect. For the first time he began to question the DDT style he so proudly represented. Things had to change in 2021.

But does it, really? When this year began, Takeshita’s Sauna Club with his friends turned into The 37KAMIINA. What followed has been a year of hot matches and aurora skies. He took a sabbatical to AEW in April, winning over a new audience of fans abroad by being himself and wrestling how he always does. When he returned, success came his way in the tag team division with his sauna buddies. He and Ueno successfully represented DDT against NOAH at “CYBERFIGHT FESTIVAL 2021”, he and Katsumata won the first Ultimate Tag League and then followed it up by winning the KO-D Tag Team Titles. To cap it all off Takeshita rose even further back to the top by winning the King Of DDT tournament. His redemption is almost complete. All that is left to do is finally beat Akiyama one on one.

Easier said than done, right? There’s also one other thing that makes it that little bit more difficult. Kenta Kobashi will be at the show as a special guest to witness the main event. Everytime Kobashi has played this role for a Jun Akiyama singles match, Akiyama has won. Endo learned that the hard way back in “KAWASAKI STRONG 2021” back in February. Akiyama’s previous two victories over Takeshita have both been by submission as well. It’s all well and good to make it three submissions in a row but Akiyama doesn’t care for that kind of stuff. If he has to win by pinfall then so be it. This is the man who comes from King’s Road. He learned that the Giant Baba style has all the right answers for pro wrestling. That is why he is the champion! Takeshita wants to prove there is no correct answer for pro wrestling that applies to everybody. The DDT style he proudly represents can be just as effective for him as King’s Road is for Akiyama. If this match is the end of his journey, we’ll find out which answer is the right one.

5. DDT Universal Title: Yuki Ueno (c) Vs Daisuke Sasaki
6. KO-D Openweight Title: Jun Akiyama (c) Vs Konosuke Takeshita

A press conference was held today covering some of the important “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2021” matches. Konosuke Takeshita admitted that losing twice to Jun Akiyama is what helped make him come into this match as a much better wrestler. He wants to win the KO-D Openweight Title and say with pride that “DDT has Takeshita.” Akiyama said that although his opponent is bigger and stronger, he’s going to show him what happens when the feelings in your heart and mind prevail. Akiyama won the previous two matches by submission but will take winning the third match by pinfall if he has to.

Daisuke Sasaki was able to appear on Zoom (goofy background and all) because he is finishing up his quarantine period. His physical absence from the press conference annoyed Yuki Ueno even more because Sasaki still has the stolen DDT Universal Title.

Sanshiro Takagi explained that when students from the DDT Teenage Project turn 20 years old they will become full time members of DDT. Their school education is given priority so will not be wrestling on every show. El Unicorn said he’s been recently inspired by Momiji Nishiya, the 13 year old skateboarder who won gold at the Olympics. Ilusion said he wants to become a big name worldwide. Both of them are just as focused on fighting the big names in their match as they are fighting each other.

Yesterday Atsushi Onita gathered his team together at a parking lot in Chiba to demonstrate the explosions that will be happen for their match. A watermelon was meant to be used as the target. Kuro-chan and his group interrupted the scene and attacked Onita’s team. Super Sasadango Machine smashed the watermelon over Sanshiro Takagi’s head while Akito & Maki Itoh were both taken care of. Kuro-chan & Hikari Noa then grabbed an explosive barbed wire bat and blasted Onita with it. Kuro-chan added insult to injury by pinning Onita while Sasadango counted to three. Kuro-chan promised to retire Onita and take over the rights to explosion death matches!

I will be writing a preview for the show next week.

2. Texas Tornado Street Fight Special Mixed Tag Match: Miss Mongol & Yumehito Imanari Vs Cherry & Shota

There’s more to Ganbare☆Joshi than just the Manase & HARUKAZE drama. Cherry allegedly won a match against Shota in impressive fashion on the last show but no evidence of it happening exists. Whatever happened between them resulted in them now teaming together. Miss Mongol usually has Shota’s number when they fight each other and Yumehito Imanari isn’t going to be distracted by any Pocchari Joshi shenanigans.
