2. NEW YEAR LIMIT BREAK: Go Shiozaki, Mohammed Yone, Atsushi Kotoge & Hajima Ohara defeated Kazuyuki Fujita, Shuji Ishikawa, Tetsuya Endo & Black Menso-re when Shiozaki pinned Menso-re with the Gowan Lariat (8:25).

One of the first wrestling shows of 2025 was NOAH holding a big event at Budokan Hall for New Year’s Day. Tetsuya Endo got to be on the undercard as part of the Limit Break branded match. He was part of a team made up of outsiders going against four members of TEAM NOAH. Endo got to look good by hitting a Sasuke Special onto a bunch out wrestlers outside the ring. After that he didn’t play a part in the finish where Go Shiozaki pinned Black Menso-re with his Lariat. However Endo got involved in something after the match when Atsushi Kotoge Headbutted him and then slapped him across the face! Kotoge wanted to provoke Endo into fighting him more but Endo ignored him and went back to the locker room.

Backstage Kotoge told reporters he is trying to repay a debt to Endo over their feud from last July. He thought he was lighting a fire under Endo today but if Endo wants to act cool and arrogant then Kotoge will crush him in an instant! Endo in his post-match interview said their grudge from last summer ended when he beat Kotoge and they shook each other’s hands. He thinks what Kotoge did today was just lame.

Brahman Kei made his first public appearance in Michinoku Pro over the weekend after getting surgery to remove a tumor. He won’t be able to wrestle for a while yet but is capable of being at ringside for Brahman Shu’s matches again. In order to keep the two teams even, Ram Kaichow has gone looking for someone extra to look out for her team against the Brahmans.

I have to say I didn’t expect to see Chris Brookes win the KO-D Openweight Title from Shinya Aoki. Even more so I didn’t expect the next Sumo Hall main event to be Brookes Vs Sasaki for the belt. Sasaki is sick of hearing people like Brookes in DDT talk about love and dreams. He is more motivated to make the lives of those people a living hell than he is to become the champion again.

More personalities from the entertainment world are coming to make their pro wrestling debuts in DDT. This time it is a masked man named Kumadori from the “Dance Terrorist Group” O-MENZ. According to Kumadori he is one of the most muscular members of the group and he wants to unleash his breakdancing wrestler skills in the ring. This deal came together when Kumadori met Sanshrio Takagi through a mutual acquaintance. He told Takagi directly that he wanted to give wrestling a try. I looked up some O-MENZ videos online and I think the closest comparison I can think of is they’re like a Japanese version of Jabbawockeez.

DDT At NOAH Limit Break 4 Results

2. The Leave Mask & Yuki Iino defeated Black Menso-re & Tomomitsu Matsunaga when Mask pinned Menso-re with a Jackknife Pin (12:23).
3. Tetsuya Endo & Yukio Naya defeated Mohammed Yone & Kohei Kinoshita when Endo pinned Kinoshita with the Burning Star Press (14:46).
6. Akitoshi Saito LIMIT BREAK Last Match: Akitoshi Saito & Jun Akiyama defeated Satoshi Kojima & Yu Owada when Saito pinned Owada with the Sickle Death (15:56).

A couple of DDT wrestlers had more to do than just the Korakuen Hall show yesterday. Some of them popped over to NOAH afterward to wrestle on the latest “LIMIT BREAK” show. It was a special appearance for Jun Akiyama because he teamed with Akitoshi Saito for Saito’s final appearance in LIMIT BREAK on his road to retirement. Their opponents was another visitor Satoshi Kojima along with the NOAH rookie Yu Owada. The Sternness pair won the match when Akiyama gave Owada the Exploder Suplex and Saito pinned him with the Sickle Death. After the match Saito said he will never forget the first time he met Akiyama back in 2000 and he learned a lot of different wrestling styles from him. He tried to stay sharp in today’s match but couldn’t help but loosen up because he was with Akiyama again. Akiyama called Saito his best partner and the easiest wrestler to work with. Akiyama also gave Owada advice on showing more fire and emotion. He wants to see someone carry on the legacy that went from All Japan to NOAH.

Tetsuya Endo & Yukio Naya teamed up for a match against Mohammed Yone & Kohei Kinoshita. The pair was feeling in good condition despite already wrestling earlier in the day. Endo scored the win for the DDT team by pinning Kinoshita with the Burning Star Press. Endo told Kinoshita to tell a certain somebody in Seattle next month that he’s wishing him the best. Naya said in his backstage comment that he would like to have a singles match against Yone some day.

Maybe Yuki Iino can work his way into getting a sponsorship with THE LEAVE. He teamed with the company’s masked luchador The Leave Mask to defeat Black Menso-re & Tomomitsu Matsunaga. Iino asked Mask afterward if it would be ok if he can star in the company’s next commercial?

DDT At NOAH Limit Break 3 Results

5. Beast Vs Harimao: Kazuyuki Fujita defeated Kazusada Higuchi with the Kick To The Face (9:13).
7. Go Shiozaki 20th Anniversary Match -DEPARTURE 2024-: Go Shiozaki & Jun Akiyama Vs Naomichi Marufuji & Takashi Sugiura ended in a Time Limit Draw (30:00).

Some of the DDT related storylines over at the NOAH “LIMIT BREAK” shows came to an end today while one in particular is continuing on up until DDT’s next Sumo Hall show. The main event was Go Shiozaki’s 20th anniversary match and he picked Jun Akiyama as one of the other particpants. Akiyama was in Shiozaki’s debut match and the two have been an integral part of each other’s careers since then. Together they faced Naomichi Marufuji & Takashi Sugiura while special guest Kenta Kobashi watched from the commentary booth. The match lasted the entire thirty minute time limit without a winner. Akiyama said he was glad to be invited to Shiozaki’s big day and he’ll see him again somewhere down the line.

The battle between two hard headed brutes from NOAH and DDT was built up on previous Limit Break shows. Today Kazusada Higuchi finally got to fight Kazuyuki Fujita one on one. When the dust settled it was Fujita who hit harder. He countered the Buchikamashi sumo charge with a Lariat and then kicked Higuchi in the face twice for the pinfall. Fujita said the match was not about winning or losing. It was about himself and Higuchi hitting each other with all of their might. Higuchi admitted he was completely defeated today. He will have to start from scratch build himself back up from here.

Shiozaki will be teaming with Atsushi Kotoge at DDT’s Sumo Hall show next month to challenge BURNING for the KO-D Tag Team Titles. On today’s show Kotoge got a preview of what to expect from the champions in the form of a 6-Man Tag Match against them. He & Yuto Kikuchi had Tetsuya Endo on the ropes and left it up to Black Menso-re to finish him off. Endo turned the tables using the Tetsuya In The Sky and pinned Menso-re with the Torture Rack Bomb. Endo asked Kotoge if this match has fired him up. It might not matter because Endo thinks at this rate the title match has already been decided. He likes Kikuchi though and wouldn’t mind coming over to Dotonbori Pro sometime to wrestle him again. Yuki Iino swears Shiozaki’s Chops won’t hurt him when they fight each other again. Yuya Koroku was happy to be booked on the show and would like to take part in more Limit Break events in the future.

Jet Bar (an alter ego of Thanomsak Toba) will be taking Urano’s place in the trios bout later in the show.

It wasn’t meant to be this way but Ken Ohka is going to wrestle three times on this show! Munetatsu Nakamura pulled out because he is sick and HARUKAZE can’t show up because of a scheduling conflict. Apparently Ohka told management he is willing to work twice and step in to fight either Shigehiro Irie or Mizuki Watase. He didn’t expect to be given a tag match against both of them. He also didn’t expect to be put in a third match either! That right there is a lesson in being careful if you offer to do extra work at your job.

A disagreement broke out between Bushimasa and Thanomsak Toba over what rules they will use for their match. Toba wanted to use MMA rules but Bushimasa wants the match to be a Tire Boxing fight! They eventually agreed to do one round each of both. Round 1 will be an MMA fight with a 3 minute time limit, submissions allowed and a 10 count for Knockout. Round 2 is Tire Boxing where both fighters keep a foot in the middle of a tire and box each other. Victory is achieved by knocking the opponent out of the tire 3 times or knocking them out with a 5 Count. If there is no winner after both rounds then the fight will be ruled a draw.

Here are the names of each of the tag teams entering the Rumble match. Keisuke Ishii & Akito are “Wakamori Generation!“, Masahiro Takanashi & Makoto Oishi are “Team Sneaky People“, Soma Takao & Shota are ROMANCE DAWN of course, KANON & MJ Paul are “DAMNATION T.A Special Attack Team“, Yuki Iino & Yuki Ishida are “Dosukoi BURNING ~100% Yuki~” and Toru Owashi & Black Menso-re are “El Dorado Brother Combination?“.

Rukiya’s injury removes him from the opening match. The tag bout is now a 3 Way.

DDT In NOAH Limit Break Results

3. Tetsuya Endo defeated Hi69 with the Burning Star Press (15:24).
4. Go Shiozaki, Kazuyuki Fujita & Mohammed Yone Vs Shuji Ishikawa, Yuki Iino & Yukio Naya ended in a Time Limit Draw (20:00).
4a. Emergency Decision Match: Go Shiozaki, Kazuyuki Fujita & Mohammed Yone defeated Shuji Ishikawa, Yuki Iino & Yukio Naya when Shiozaki pinned Iino with the Strong Arm Lariat (4:41).

Forgot to write about this last when it happened last week. I have to do a better job keeping track of DDT’s entry into NOAH. The second “LIMIT BREAK” show had more inter-promotional matches between the two companies. Yuki Iino & Yukio Naya found themselves teaming with Shuji Ishikawa for a match against TEAM NOAH that lasted the entire 20 minute time limit. The visiting team still wanted to fight and convinced the NOAH wrestlers to restart the match. The home side won the rematch thanks to Go Shiozaki hitting Iino with the Strong Arm Lariat. Even though the end result wasn’t what the DDT wrestlers wanted, they and Ishikawa took a moral victory by getting a time limit draw and restart in the first place. Iino even blamed NOAH for changing the rules even though his team asked for the restart. The three of them said they want to wrestle the NOAH side even more. In fact, Naya thinks DDT is stronger than NOAH and will prove it to Mohammed Yone if he ever comes over to DDT.

Tetsuya Endo had a singles match against Hi69 and beat him with the Burning Star Press. The two did not shake hands afterwards but according to Endo it was not out of spite. He respects Hi69 and didn’t shake his hand because he thinks there is still more in the fight between them. But Endo also has a bigger reason for showing up in NOAH. He wants to beat Go Shiozaki and demands a singles match between them take place as soon as possible!

DDT lost the other tag match on the show when Jun Akiyama & Rukiya were beaten by Atsushi Kotoge & Black Menso-re. After the match Kotoge called out Akiyama for hiding behind younger wrestlers and challenged him to a singles match. Akiyama took offence to the comments and accepted the challenge for the next “LIMIT BREAK” show. He also took his anger out on Rukiya for taking the fall. He ordered Rukiya not to talk because in NOAH you don’t get to make any comments when you lose. Akiyama would have done the same if Kotoge hadn’t challenged him to a match.

CDK will get a match against Makoto Oishi & Shiori Asahi for the occasion. All for of them are friends with Kiso outside of shows. Kiso also gets to referee a match pitting Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie against the young boys To-y & Yuni. Kiso has known Ishii since before he became a ref and he was also the ref for Irie’s debut match. He wanted to have them in particular to face against two of DDT’s future stars.

DDT In NOAH Limit Break Results

1. Yu Owada defeated Rukiya with a Crab Hold (9:17).
3. Kazuyuki Fujita & Atsushi Kotoge defeated Kazusada Higuchi & Black Menso~re when Kotoge pinned Menso~re with the Killswitch (13:29).
4. Jun Akiyama & Akitoshi Saito Vs Shuji Ishikawa & Ren Ayabe ended in a Time Limit Draw (20:00).
5. Tetsuya Endo & Yuki Iino defeated Go Shiozaki & Genta Yubari when Endo pinned Yubari with the Burning Star Press (25:32).

(Note: I would have gotten this written up yesterday until I got an unexpected request from Maki Itoh that kept me busy.)

A criticism of CyberFight I often see and hear online is about the lack of interaction between NOAH and DDT. It is especially weird when the two promotions actively set up working relationships with other companies outside the CyberFight banner. Well we finally got to see it happen here. NOAH has a series of shows called “LIMIT BREAK” and yesterday’s event featured DDT wrestlers up and down the card. The main event had the current day version of BURNING step foot into a NOAH ring for what I think is the first time. Tetsuya Endo & Yuki Iino won the match but were impressed by their opponents. The chops from Go Shiozaki left Iino’s chest so swollen that Endo had to admit you don’t see that kind of damage done to somebody in DDT. He praised JTO wrestler Genta Yubari too and was surprised to find out he’s only 24. Iino was still excited over the match and wants to do more against Shiozaki. You can expect to see BURNING at a “LIMIT BREAK” show again soon.

Jun Akiyama was on the show representing DDT but his match was more of a throw back to his Sternness days with Akitoshi Saito. They went to a 20 minute draw against Shuji Ishikawa & Ren Ayabe. The time ran out just when Akiyama was ready to give Ayabe the Wrist-Clutch Exploder. Saito said he was glad to experience the ice cold and scary atmosphere with Akiyama again. Akiyama joked that’s not true because he is a warm hearted old man now. His message to Ayabe from the match is to always stand back up no matter how much of a beating you take. Ayabe promised to aim for Akiyama whenever they cross paths again.

When DDT’s involvement with the show was announced Kazusada Higuchi made it clear he wanted to fight Kazuyuki Fujita. They got to do it here but Black Menso~re would stick his nose in to do spots involving a bottle of liquid he likes to drink during matches. Atsushi Kotoge ended up beating Menso~re while Fujita and Higuchi were fighting each other outside the ring. Higuchi said Fujita is just as strong as he imagined and he will continue chasing after him. Fujita was more interested in stealing Menso~re’s drink for himself backstage.

NOAH’s rookie Yu Owada defeated DDT’s rookie Rukiya in the opening contest. Owada wasn’t pleased with the result because he wants to advance and beat a higer ranked opponent. Rukiya wants a rematch so he can fight Owada even harder and win next time.

DDT In All Japan And New Japan October Results

There were DDT wrestlers on three All Japan shows this month for various reasons. The sudden rivalry between the two companies led to more crossovers happening. First was MAO & Rukiya showing up on a show put together by Rising HAYATO to gather together young and cool wrestlers just like him. HAYATO & Atsuki Aoyagi won in the main event thanks to HAYATO’s top rope Lionsault that is named after Sid Vicious.

0. Frontier Zone: YOSHI-HASHI, Toru Yano, Tiger Mask, Ryusuke Taguchi & Oskar Leube defeated Takeshi Masada, Kazuma Sumi, Kengo, Jun Masaoka & Takahiro Katori when Taguchi submitted Katori with the Oh My & Garankle (8:14).

In between all of the All Japan stuff was two DDT wrestlers showing up in New Japan. NJPW put together the Frontier Zone as a pre-show exhibition for outside wrestlers to interact with New Japan’s regulars. Kazuma Sumi got a unique experience by fighting the big young lion Oskar Leube, who was a last minute replacement for YOH. Meanwhile Takeshi Masada was more concerned over not losing the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title to anybody from New Japan. He outright told the English commentary team he would get fired if he lost the belt to a New Japan wrestler.

AJPW “HATAAGE COMMEMORATIVE SERIES 2023”, 12/10/2023

1. AJPW Vs DDT Tag Match: Yukio Sakaguchi & Hideki Okatani defeated Takao Omori & Yoshitatsu when Sakaguchi pinned Omori with a Running Knee Butt (7:26).

A few days after Takao Omori & Yoshitatsu failed to take the All Asia Tag Team Titles back from DDT, they faced the next challengers Eruption. Omori almost beat Yukio Sakaguchi with the Ax Guillotine Driver but Hideki Okatani broke the count. Sakaguchi came back and rocked Omori with the God’s Right Knee before hitting another Running Knee Butt as Omori was getting back up for the finish.

*Eruption fails in V2. Suwama, Mayumi Ozaki & Maya Yukihi become the 7th AJPW TV 6-Man Tag Team Champions!

Eruption can no longer call themselves Double Crown Champions. They dropped the AJPW TV 6-Man Tag Team Titles to the unlikely trio of Suwama, Mayumi Ozaki & Maya Yukihi over the weekend. Suwama was too strong for Akai and used his power to block the Quetzalcoatl. He instead put Akai in a tight Sleeper Hold until she passed out. The result means the AJPW 6-Man Tag Titles are now back home with All Japan for the most part. Unless Ozaki & Yukihi manipulate Suwama into giving power of the belts over to OZ Academy.

DDT did score a win against AJPW earlier in the show though. Sanshiro Takagi led his team into battle against former ally Shuji Ishikawa and even scored the winning pinfall. There was some friendly fire when Takagi rode in on the Dramatic Dream bike but crashed it into Rukiya by mistake. After the match Takagi cycled off but HARASHIMA & Yukio Naya were left behind to be ambushed by The Saito Brothers! They all brawled to the back.

DDT’s Matches In AJPW During September 2023

1. Special Single Match: Yoshitatsu defeated Super Sasadango Machine with the Yoshitatsu Fantasy (8:00).
2. AJPW TV 6-Man Tag Team Titles & KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles: Yukio Sakaguchi, Saki Akai & Hideki Okatani (c/c) defeated ATM, DASH Chisako & Black Menso~re when Sakaguchi pinned Menso~re with the God’s Right Knee (11:56).
*V1 for Eruption with the AJPW TV 6-Man Tag Team Titles. V2 for Eruption with the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles.

This week there was more DDT participation in All Japan for the company’s latest tour. In Niigata Eruption stepped foot in AJPW again to defend their double crown trios championships. With both the AJPW TV 6-Man Tag Team Titles and KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles on the line Eruption successfully retained all of their belts against ATM, DASH Chisako & Black Menso~re. With no challengers left in AJPW for the time being that allows Eruption to defend the titles back in DDT tomorrow. Yukio Sakaguchi said the successful defence means the AJPW championship now completely belongs to them. Saki Akai agrees and thinks the AJPW belts are now like part of their costumes. Hideki Okatani calls out for any more challengers to step forward. That’s if there are any left.

Also on the show was Super Sasadango Machine, getting to wrestle in the AJPW ring at his hometown. He took on Yoshitatsu with the goal of winning in order to become a regular addition to AJPW shows. Unfortunately he lost and the result supposedly destroyed any hope he had of joining that roster.

1. Evolution Vs DDT: Jun Akiyama, Sanshiro Takagi & Yusuke Okada defeated Suwama, Hikaru Sato & Dan Tamura by Referee Stoppage when Akiyama used the Front Neck Lock on Tamura (6:57).

Earlier today at All Japan’s big show in Yoyogi there was some DDT involvement on the undercard to continue the growing rivalry between the companies. Jun Akiyama, Sanshiro Takagi & Yusuke Okada defeated the Evolution stable of Suwama, Hikaru Sato & Dan Tamura when Akiyama used the Front Neck Lock to choke out Tamura. Akiyama and Suwama got into each other’s faces after the match causing Yukio Naya to step in and start a fight with Suwama! The two had to be pulled apart.

There were also two Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title changes on the show. Naoki Tanizaki rolled up Naruki Doi right after they teamed together to become the new champion. A few other wrestlers tried to roll up Tanizaki until Doi succeeded and regained the title.
