DNA To Suspend Operations Next Month

July 11, 2018

An announcement about DNA’s future was made before yesterday’s episode of “DDT LIVE! MAJI MANJI”. The DNA brand will be suspended at the end of the 10th August show in Kitazawa and all DNA wrestlers will be transferred over to the DDT roster on 11th August. Along with this, the DNA wrestlers are being given a free negotiation period from 10th July to 10th August to negotiate with the different brands in the DDT family if they want to move to somewhere other than DDT. So it is possible that BASARA, Ganbare☆Wrestling and maybe even Tokyo Joshi Pro can get a few wrestlers out of this deal. The intention will be to bring DNA back whenever DDT has a new crop of rookie wrestlers around to carry the brand.

Sanshiro Takagi said the original goal of DNA was to develop a new generation of pro wrestlers with the best of them moving up to DDT. What ended up happening is most of the DNA wrestlers became good enough to join the regular DDT roster anyway. Also the Maji Manji show has been giving the wrestlers a similar spotlight and has become more of a priority for DDT as their schedule fills up. Since there isn’t much difference between the two shows in their minds, it was decided that DNA had become redundant in its role for DDT.

Each of the current DNA wrestlers commented on the news. Yuki Ueno says he will work harder beginning in August when he is transferred to DDT. Kouki Iwasaki thinks it is a good time for him to step up because he does not want to stay stable. Kota Umeda is sad to see DNA disappear but is confident it will return some day to gather a new generation of wrestlers together. Shunma Katsumata always felt a bit lonely because he was already a DDT wrestler when DNA was launched. His focus is now on keeping the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles he currently holds with ALL OUT. MAO wants to work harder than ever from now on. He already had one foot out the door when he was a part of NωA. Mizuki Watase appreciates what DNA has done for him with all of the wrestlers he fought there. He had matches with Shinjiro Otani, Jun Kasai, Koji Kanemoto and Minoru Tanaka early in his wrestling career thanks to DNA. The injured Masato Kamino is aware of the changing environment so all he can do is be at his best when he returns. Nobuhiro Shimatani feels like he will stick with DDT but he is open to hear any offers from BASARA, Ganpro and even Tokyo Joshi. Daiki Shimomura will miss DNA but wants to think positively. Rekka will do his best without changing who he is. Yuki Iino also promises to do his best and sees DDT as a step up. Naomi Yoshimura isn’t going to act any differently whether he is in DDT or DNA. However he admits he will be laughing and crying at DNA’s remaining shows before it goes away.

5. Kota Umeda “Mad Dog” 7 Match Series – 4th Match: Dick Togo defeated Kota Umeda with the Modified Cross Facelock (11:12).
6. DDT Extreme Title – Blindfolded Hidden Breasts Death Match: HARASHIMA (c) defeated Antonio Honda when he stripped off Honda’s bra (13:42).
*V3 for HARASHIMA.

Maybe it was skill or maybe it was blind luck but HARASHIMA defeated Antonio Honda in the Blindfold & Bra Match. At one point Honda rolled out of the ring and HARASHIMA tried to chase after him. Honda pulled the shirts off of Yuki Iino and Nobuhiro Shimatani when they stood too close to him. They were both wearing bras underneath even though it wasn’t mandatory for them to do so. Back in the ring Honda applied an Octopus Hold to HARASHIMA and succeeded in unhooking his bra. HARASHIMA defended himself well so Honda rolled him into a Japanese Leg Roll Clutch. That was a grave mistake because the positioning allowed HARASHIMA to unhook Honda’s bra and strip it right off him by kicking out of the hold, resulting in a victory for HARASHIMA! After the match he said he hasn’t decided on the next challenger for the DDT Extreme Title. For now his focus is on winning the KO-D Openweight Title from Shigehiro Irie on 22nd July!

Another good effort from Kota Umeda that just wasn’t enough in his latest match of the Mad Dog Trials. Dick Togo’s ring awareness allowed him to trap Umeda in the Cross Facelock several times. The one that made Umeda finally tap out was transitioned into a modified version of the move that looks similar to the Dick Killer. Togo thinks Umeda can still grow into becoming the so called “Mad Dog” that he claims to be but for now he is still in the stage where he should be establishing a style for himself. His advice to Umeda is to wrestle more and more because pro wrestling is more than a career, it’s an experience.

The Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title was up for grabs in a 10 minute long Battle Royal. The champion KUDO had Masahiro Takanashi fighting by his side against the rest of the field but the chaos was too much to handle. Nobuhiro Shimatani found his moment to strike and he pinned KUDO with a School Boy to win the title. Everyone ganged up on him until Saori Anou found her spot to win the belt with a Fisherman Suplex. KUDO had a change of heart and decided to protect Anou by fending off those who attacked her including including his friends Takanashi and Saki Akai. Anou didn’t appreciate KUDO’s aid and she kicked him out of the ring. She got into a back and forth with Akai until Akai pinned her with a Diving Cross Body. Shimatani got the title back with a Small Package with two minutes left to go. Konosuke Takeshita made his presence felt by giving Shimatani a Brainbuster onto the title belt. Takeshita got the pin and stayed as champion for the final minute of the match.

The Battle Royal was over but there were still people who wanted the Iron Man Title. Yuki Iino tried to pin Takeshita with a School Boy outside the ring but he kicked out. Danshoku Dieno then ran out and gave Takeshita the Lip Lock in the ring. He went for the pin but Sanshiro Takagi suddenly broke it up by throwing a chair at Dieno! Takagi invited this week’s special guest Akari Suda from SKE48 down to the ring so she can become the champion! Yukinori Matsui was against the idea but immediately changed his mind when Suda shook his hand. Takagi gave Takeshita a Stunner then Suda locked him into the Ocotpus Hold, the dreaded finishing move of World Idol Pro Wrestling star Octopus Suda! Takeshita clearly did not give up but Matsui ruled he was knocked out and rewarded the Iron Man Title to Suda! Takagi warned Suda that she may be attacked by people who want the championship at any time. Suda asked Takagi if he can protect her if that is the case.

The 3 Way Trios match wasn’t held under Hardcore rules but MAO still used a plastic toy hammer on some of his opponents during the match. Sammy Guevara and Facade ran circles around the rest of the participants and floored them all with dives out of the ring. Guevara then finished off Daiki Shimomura with the 630 Splash to give Irie-gun the victory. Tetsuya Endo wants MAO to know that their KO-D Tag Team Titles match on 22nd July won’t be a Hardcore match so he better leave the weapons at home. Mad Paulie stole some pictures of Facade from the merch stand. Endo scolded Paulie until he found a picture of Saori Anou among them.

The BIG LOVE between Daisuke Sasaki and Asuka is strong for the most part. Well there was that moment when Sasaki accidentally hit Asuka with a Clothesline but that honestly was an accident. Asuka recovered and countered Makoto Oishi’s Miracle Ecstasy into a Choke Slam of her own. She then pinned Oishi with the Moonsault. Sasaki begged Asuka to forgive him after the match. What he did was the biggest tragedy of this century and he promised to never do it again. Asuka said “BIG LOVE!” to Sasaki and they hugged. When asked about their upcoming singles match against each other at Korakuen Hall, Sasaki told everyone to look forward to it because they will show love to each other in the ring.

With the future of DNA up in the air, the Naomi Kingdom are looking to the future and it involves finishing off their rivals on the final show. Keisuke Okuda doesn’t care where they end up because he isn’t afraid of anything. If all of the juniors below him have fear then they should stop wrestling. Naomi Yoshimura wants to take down Yuki Ueno once and for all before DNA is done. After that he will be free to do what he wants whether it is in DDT, DNA or anywhere else in the company.

Akito’s submission skills got him out of a jam. He reversed a Figure 4 Leg Lock from Yuki Ueno to grab the victory.

Danshoku Dieno didn’t let his one show suspension from the main Maji Manji card let him down. He came out for his dark match with cans of beer ready to get the crowd fired up! He was also drinking to promote the Beer Garden shows taking place in August. He invited Rekka to join in the fun and they both wrestled while drinking. It got a bit out of control when they spat beer with each other and used the beer cans as weapons.

6. Spring Special In The Summer! Falls Count Anywhere 4 Way Match: Konosuke Takeshita Vs Kazusada Higuchi Vs MAO Vs Masashi Takeda

DDT is mixing up some ideas for this month’s “DDT LIVE! MAJI MANJI” episodes. First up they are bringing in death match specialist Masashi Takeda to take part in a crazy Falls Count Anywhere 4 Way Match. Kazusada Higuchi’s involvement guarantees a broken table or two. MAO also gets a little out of control in these kind of matches too. Konosuke Takeshita is kind of the odd man out but this is the sort of variety he’s been looking to get into since losing the KO-D Openweight Title.

HARASHIMA has both of his upcoming major opponents involved in his match. He teams with Antonio Honda a week before their DDT Extreme Title match. On the opposing side, Shigehiro Irie is ramping up the pressure against his next intended challenger.

The Timo Timo Timo Dragons are hoping that Ultimo Dragon will want to team with them. The unmasking stuff isn’t going to fly with him.

As soon as Isami Kodaka found out that singer Mari Yaguchi was the special guest for this episode he asked to be a part of the show.

It’s DAMNATION versus DAMNATION in the dark match. Okay, not really. Maybe some day Nobuhiro Shimatani can get officially added to the group as a proper member instead of a gofer boy.

TOKYO JOSHI PRO “THE 5TH TOKYO PRINCESS CUP FINAL FIGHT”, 08/07/2018

The 8 year old maid Martha returns to Tokyo Joshi Pro after she was happily reunited with her parents last year. Thing you should look out for here is how Azusa Christie will handle being in a trio. She usually doesn’t like having other women teaming with Sakisama. But Martha is already a trusted member of NEO Biishiki-gun so there shouldn’t be any trouble in the unit.

The Extreme Title is up for grabs in a rematch of the dreaded stipulation from November 2013. Both HARASHIMA and Honda will wrestle blindfolded while wearing bras. The goal is to reach out and strip off the opponent’s bra. HARASHIMA won the first time but Honda has gained more experience in similar matches since then, winning one such bout at Sumo Hall in August 2015.

ALL OUT are being put through an experiment to prepare for their KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles defence against the Sendai Girls. They won’t be wrestling on 22nd July. Instead their cousins Keiko Takeshita Jr., Akiko & Carousel❤Shun will come in to take on another set of DDT cousins in a match they will probably get away with calling a “joshi” bout.

The “DAMNATION DIVA” Asuka and “The Vengeful One” Alex Ace will be on the show. Ace is a 31 year old Spanish wrestler originally trained by Joe E. Legend and now learning his trade from Angelico. He is 209cm high and weighs 115kg.

DDT “DDT LIVE! MAJI MANJI #12”, 24/07/2018

2. KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles: Konosuke Takeshita, Akito & Shunma Katsumata (c) Vs Meiko Satomura, DASH Chisako & Cassandra Miyagi

This isn’t going to be a friendly day out between ALL OUT and Sendai Girls. Meiko Satomura made it clear that ALL OUT are now enemies in her eyes. ALL OUT’s plan to defend the titles against outsiders may end at the starting blocks if they don’t take this match seriously.

The last couple of times Daisuke Sasaki and Jun Kasai were in the ring together they were rivals. Now they have to be on the same page to fight Irie-gun.

2. Great China Alliance Vs New Beijing Pro Wrestling!: Cao Modao & Yasuura No defeated Choun-Shiryu & Rekka when No pinned Rekka with an Inside Cradle (11:57).
3. Yuki Iino Return Match – Yuki Iino Knock On Series Round 2: Konosuke Takeshita defeated Yuki Iino with the German Suplex (10:27).
4. Koji Kanemoto & Mizuki Watase defeated Mike Bailey & MAO when Watase pinned MAO with the Tiger Suplex (11:43).
*Mizuki Watase wins MAO’s Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Gauntlet.
5. Ryota Nakatsu defeated Kouki Iwasaki with the Crescent Moon (14:19).
6. Akito & Shunma Katsumata defeated Keisuke Okuda & Akira Jo when Katsumata pinned Okuda with the ¡Hasta la vista! (15:03).
7. Kota Umeda defeated Naomi Yoshimura with the Umeda Driver (17:00).

Kota Umeda cements his place at the top of DNA with a decisive victory over Naomi Yoshimura. He overcame everything Yoshimura threw at him including a chairshot that was done to block Umeda’s Tope Con Hilo. Umeda found a counter for Yoshimura’s Power Bombs at almost every opportunity. On offence, Umeda’s kicks and knee strikes chipped away at Yoshimura until he fell to the Umeda Driver. After the match Umeda called out Yoshimura for trying to take over DNA during his absence. Then when Umeda came back, Yoshimura had the Naomi Kingdom backing him up. It took months of waiting but they were finally able have their match and end their conflict today. Umeda offered to shake Yoshimura’s hand. Yoshimura wanted to resist but he conceded defeat and accepted it before leaving with the rest of the Kingdom. Umeda ended the show by telling the fans that a good wave is coming to DNA and he is looking forward to seeing everyone at the next couple of DNA shows this summer.

The other Naomi Kingdom members also lost their match today to ALL OUT. An ambush at the venue’s stairway where the wrestlers entered through gave Keisuke Okuda & Akira Jo the advantage at first. But Akito & Shunma Katsumata persisted until they found their opening. Katsumata kept Okuda in the ring and stunned him with a Buzzsaw Kick before getting the three count with the ¡Hasta la vista! Lightning Spiral.

Ryota Nakatsu returned to DNA to beat Kouki Iwasaki. That result isn’t the end of their rivalry. Now Iwasaki wants to return the favour and go have a match in BASARA! Nakatsu is open to the idea but isn’t sure if Iwasaki has the guts to go by himself like he did today.

Things are looking good for Mizuki Watase. Today’s win means he now has two Right To Challenge Gauntlets in his possession! He likes the idea of collecting all of them so maybe he will chase after the three remaining ones. Also Koji Kanemoto enjoyed teaming with him so much that he wants to do it again.

Yuki Iino returned to action with a hard hitting match against Konosuke Takeshita. Iino’s big moves were Spears and rugby tackles. He also got into chop battles but his momentum was cut short with a Lariat. Takeshita put him away with the German Suplex. Iino was disappointed with the loss but he felt comfortable handling the pressure of fighting one of DDT’s main eventers.

She had been suffering from headaches and dizziness that have been bad enough to take her off shows. After getting consulted in relation to these symptoms, Kurone was diagnosed with Generalised Anxiety Disorder and told to recover from home for the time being. Her future plans will be determined once she goes through more examinations. Kurone’s absence means she will not be competing in the Tokyo Princess Cup. 7. Naomi Yoshimura Vs Kota Umeda

Before Yuki Iino got injured he began a planned seven match trial series of matches in DNA. He only completed one against Shigehiro Irie before it was put on hold. Since his return match is now against Konosuke Takeshita it makes sense for DNA to bring the trial back and continue where they left off.

4. Utsunomiya Specialty! Romantic Tag Match: Shigehiro Irie & Mizuki Watase Vs Kazusada Higuchi & Makoto Oishi

ALL OUT have declared their intentions to become the next KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions. When Takeshita saw the DNA team win the belts, he felt something special. But he is the leader of DDT’s new generation and he needs to be a champion now that he no longer has the KO-D Openweight Title. Since that’s out of his range for now, he is focusing on all of the DDT tag championships. Akito says ALL OUT needs the 6-Man Titles more than the DNA team do. That the belts haven’t been defended since April is Akito’s proof of this. Shunma Katsumata says the time is right for ALL OUT to be champions. Their challenge hasn’t been accepted yet but a tag match between Takeshita & Akito against Kota Umeda & Yuki Ueno will certainly set it up.

There will also be a match provided by local indie SWF.

DDT “ROJO WRESTLING IN TOSHIMAEN”, 25/05/2018
Tokyo Toshimaen

1. Sanshiro Takagi, Ippanjin Munenori Sawa & Meiko Satomura Vs X, X & X

Isami Kodaka, Shunma Katsumata, Meiko Satmoura and Cassandra Miyagi have been added to the show. Every match is planned to be a trios match with two men and one woman on every team. The only confirmed team so far is Satomura joining Sanshiro Takagi & Ippanjin Munenori Sawa. Their team name is Hentai Sendai Big Boss. Satomura isn’t thrilled with the name. The reason this show is taking place is because Toshimaen holds a dark secret. By day it is an amusement park but by night it transforms into a fighter training facility. The facility exists to develop a champion for Japan to enter the Fighting World Cup held every four years. Takagi claims that he has the management rights for Japan’s entry this year and put this show together to find his champion.

8. Special Single Match ~Sustainable~: Shigehiro Irie Vs Magnitude Kishiwada
9. Special Single Match ~Heart~: Konosuke Takeshita Vs Antonio Honda

DDT held a press conference backstage in Korakuen Hall after “AUDIENCE 2018” ended to promote this show. Yukinori Matsui commented on all of the matches because he is organising the show as the link between DDT and the Osaka wrestling scene. He put together the Shigehiro Irie Vs Magnitude Kishiwada match because of their interactions in last year’s “DRAMATIC DREAMS!” show. Bad blood still exists between the two and that was shown when they had a chair duel in front of everyone. Kuishinbo Kamen also interviewed Super Sasadango Machine from the front row. Finally, Konosuke Takeshita and Antonio Honda spoke about their upcoming match against each other. Takeshita feels free as a bird now that he no longer has the pressures of defending the KO-D Openweight Title. However the downside of that is he has nothing to connect with and feels kind of aimless right now. Honda values freedom in pro wrestling and hopes to teach that lesson to Takeshita.

Injuries have caused some changes in the card. Yuki Ueno hasn’t recovered so Naomi Yoshimura takes his place in the match against Dick Togo. Also Shoichi Uchida broke his heel back in April and has not recovered in time to wrestle on this show. The good news is Akito has recovered from his injury and gets his first match back here.

1. KO-D Openweight Title Next Challenger Decision & Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Rumble: X Vs X

The crazy rumble is back. Several prizes will be on the line including a guaranteed KO-D Title shot on 24th June. The other prize is the Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Gauntlet. It works exactly like the Money In The Bank briefcase in WWE but there is the added condition that whoever owns the gauntlet has to defend it in every match they appear in until they cash in their title shot. There are usually several gauntlets up for grabs and that leads to a wave of gauntlet switches from wrestler to wrestler throughout the summer. It’s a handy way to make the lesser DDT shows more eventful to follow.

7. Yonago Specialty Irakuru! Special! Tag Match: Shigehiro Irie & Jason Kincaid Vs Keisuke Ishii & Makoto Oishi

The big news happening in DDT this week is Soma Takao breaking up the remains of Smile Squash so he can join with DAMNATION. This was a plan that had been brewing in the background for a long time and Takao isn’t just joining the unit to be another one of Dasuke Sasaki’s pets. Maybe by teaming with Tetsuya Endo, Takao can make Endo focus more. Endo seems to be more interested in showing off his pet beetle than wrestling his best lately.

Kouki Iwasaki was supposed to be wrestling this weekend but had to pull out due to acute gastroenteritis. In other words he has diarrhoea.

5. Konosuke Takeshita Vs Shunma Katsumata
6. Special Single Match: HARASHIMA Vs Soma Takao
7. KO-D Openweight Title: Shigehiro Irie (c) Vs Keisuke Ishii

HARASHIMA gets his shot at revenge on Takao. But with Smile Squash pretty much done for, the numbers game is way against him now.

Kazusada Higuchi already defeated one half of the tag team No. 1 Contenders. Now he’s facing the other. Higuchi and Kota Umeda had a lot of battles against each other in the early years of DNA. It’s time to reginite that feud!

Makoto Oishi thinks the time for change has come. For too long DDT was built around men like Danshoku Dieno, Antonio Honda and Super Sasadango Machine. Oishi has found the next generation of wrestlers to take their place: Nobuhiro Shimatani, Daiki Shimomura, Yuki Iino and lastly of course himself. The two sides will battle for the future of DDT! At least that’s what Oishi wants to think.

We have another Lucha Libre superstar joining the ranks. Rihotimo Dragon makes her debut.

The comeback rally by DNA has put Naomi Kingdom on the ropes. Yuki Ueno is winning more often and has become confident enough to challenge Naomi Yoshimura to a match.

Yuki Iino is making up for lost time by picking Umeda for his first match back.

Choun-Shiryu & Rekka have put aside their differences and are now strong allies again. Shiryu is confident that Rekka has what it takes to take part in New Beijing Pro Wrestling. China’s oldest wrestling promotion doesn’t want to be overshadowed by that fancy new stuff.

2. Chinese Rebirth Of Revenge Match! Endless Battle!: Choun-Shiryu defeated Rekka with the Chinese Reverse Gory Special Bomb (9:19).
3. Mizuki Watase & Jason Kincaid defeated Tomoya Hirata & Brian Aki when Watase pinned Aki with the Back Drop (9:37).
4. DNA Vs Cavalry!: Ryuichi Sekine & Ryota Nakatsu defeated Kouki Iwasaki & MAO when Sekine submitted MAO with the Let’s Combine (13:24).
5. Kota Umeda defeated Daiki Shimomura with the Umeda Driver (11:45).
6. DNA-gun Vs Naomi Kingdom!: Shunma Katsumata, Yuki Ueno & Koju Takeda defeated Naomi Yoshimura, Keisuke Okuda & Akira Jo when Ueno pinned Jo with the Frog Splash (19:15).

The DNA side score another big victory over the Naomi Kingdom! But there wasn’t time for celebrations. Yuki Ueno went straight to the point and challenged Naomi Yoshimura to a singles match on the next DNA show. It was accepted and the match takes place on 3rd June in Shinjuku. Ueno said he will punish the Naomi Kingdom and a win over Yoshimura might end their feud for good.

Ryota Nakatsu and Kouki Iwasaki got into blows after Match #4. After they were pulled apart Nakatsu yelled at Iwasaki until Iwasaki threw a chair at him. Nakatsu challenged him to a match next month.

Yuki Iino announced his first match back from injury will happen at the 3rd June show. His opponent is Kota Umeda. Iino wants to beat Umeda and take over his role as DDT’s next rising star.

Choun-Shiryu and Rekka put aside their differences after their match. Rekka said that he fought with all his strength and lost but he was still happy to wrestle Shiryu. Shiryu said that Asia is moving quickly with the times. According to him the time for problems between nations, borders and race is over. As proof of this, Shiryu gave Rekka a New Beijing T-shirt as a gift and asked him to represent New Beijing at the next DNA show. Rekka accepted because they are now friends.

At the start of the show Daiki Shimomura pointed out that there are less fans in the crowd than usual today. He encouraged everyone to raise their efforts to have exciting matches for those who came to see them.

6. DDT Extreme Title – Regular Rules: Yuko Miyamoto (c) Vs HARASHIMA
7. KO-D Openweight Title: Konosuke Takeshita (c) Vs Shigehiro Irie

Akito suffered a ruptured biceps tendon in his right arm during last Sunday’s main event. He is expected to miss several months. With this injury the card for “MAX BUMP 2018” has been changed around not just to accommodate his absence but also to feature a debuting foreign wrestler.

Shigehiro Irie promised to bring over a friend of his from America to DDT. The only hint he gave was by calling his friend “The Gift”. It has since been announced that Jason Kincaid is coming to DDT. Kincaid is a 14 year veteran and had a lengthy 5 year reign as the NWA Southeastern Heavyweight Champion. Kincaid will be teaming with the person who seems to be Irie’s only friend left in DDT, Mizuki Watase as part of a 3 Way Tag. That match replaces the originally planned ALL OUT Vs DAMNATION tag team bout that Akito was meant to be in.

The DDT Extreme Title match will just be a regular pro wrestling match with no extra stipulations added. Yuko Miyamoto made this decision because he has never had a proper one on one match with his friend. He strongly wants to find out if he can beat HARASHIMA under a normal ruleset.
