The two originally met in America while working the same GCW show and have been tweeting back and forth for a while about teaming up. Now looks like the perfect time to make it happen. Itoh wants Desperado to learn the Itoh Respect Army dance for their entrance. He didn’t expect that to be part of the deal.

TJPW say a health issue is preventing Max The Impaler from participating at “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’25” so Pom Harajuku needs a new tag team partner. Luckily for her TJPW has decided to bring in Kyoko Inoue as the replacement! The joshi legend currently wrestles for Diana, a promotion that just so happened to join the UJPW recently so I wonder if that new connection helped put this deal together.

The Grace Group bus company have their own independent wrestling promotion called GRACE PROJECT. They don’t really have their own roster, save for Captain Grace who is the man in charge of the whole thing. Instead their shows are filled with indie wrestlers from across Japan including those who compete in BASARA. So a lot of familiar faces are showing up in their offer match for the show.

1. Ken Ohka & Choun-Shiryu defeated Shinichiro Tominaga & Ali Najima when Ohka pinned Najima with the Flame Spear (9:05).
2. Keisuke Ishii defeated Shota Kawakami with a Knee Drop (6:40).
3. GanPro Ultimate Rules: Shuichiro Katsumura defeated Thanomsak Toba by Referee Stoppage with a Body-locking Sleeper Hold (2:20).
4. Yoshiko Hasegawa’s Last Ganbare☆Pro Wrestling Match: Moeka Haruhi, Yuna Manase & Banny Oikawa defeated YuuRI, Yoshiko Hasegawa & Riara when Manase pinned Hasegawa with the Suzuki Dynamic (12:22).
5. Mizuki Watase defeated Munetatsu Nakamura by TKO when Watase used the NAGISA on Nakamura and Toru Sugiura threw in the towel (12:54).
6. Spirit Of Ganbare World Openweight Title: Yumehito Imanari (c) defeated Tyson “Ultimate” Maeguchi with the Power Bomb (12:36).
*V5 for Yumehito Imanari.

Given that Tyson “Ultimate” Maeguchi is digging deep into his combat sports roots he aimed to beat Yumehito Imanari by knockout. But Imanari’s faith in pro wrestling won out in the end. He was reminded of the time Keiji Muto fought Don Frye and Muto said he had no choice but to prepare for his Frye’s punches. Imanari was able to beat the 10 counts, block Maeguchi’s punches and drop him with a Power Bomb to get the win in the end. Imanari gave praise to Maeguchi after the match for being who he wants to be, which is a goal of Ganbare☆Pro. He found a way to mix together kickboxing with pro wrestling and take it all over the indies. Imanari brought up that they recently wrestled a match together at a okonomiyaki restaurant in Suidobashi. He congratulated Maeguchi on becoming a real kickboxing pro wrestler and told him they should wrestle each other in that restaurant again.

Mizuki Watase kept taunting Munetatsu Nakamura with the Spirit Of Ganbare World Tag Team Title belt which fired Nakamura up for to fight him. Watase taunted him again by screaming Nakamura will never win the belt like this. He put Nakamura in a Front Neck Lock with an Arm Lock added on but Nakamura wouldn’t give up. His tag partner Toru Sugiura threw in a towel from ringside to forfeit the match. Nakamura complained about it but Sugiura explained afterward, asking him what if he broke his arm? If it was a title match he’d understand losing one or two arms behind but it’s not worth doing it for this match. Watase understood Sugiura’s point and told both of them to bring this same feeling with them for the title bout next month. Sugiura & Nakamura promised that when they win the SOG Tag Titles they will be all over Shukan Puroresu and Wrestle Universe!

All of the Ganbare☆Joshi division gathered together for Yoshiko Hasegawa’s final match in GanPro before she retires from pro wrestling. Riara returned to GanPro for the occasion and even HARUKAZE showed up to be the ring announcer. Hasegawa got to start off the match with Moeka Haruhi. Then YuuRI & Riara helped beat down Yuna Manase so Hasegawa could put her in the Muffler Hold but Banny Oikawa cut her off. Manase was able to get the pin on Hasegawa by giving her the Suzuki Dynamic, a move she hasn’t used for a while in GanPro. After the match Manase said she was so nervous about today that she forgot her wrestling boots and had to borrow Ken Ohka’s boots for the match. She told Hasegawa she will always be a part of GanJo as long as she keeps trying. So if she doesn’t feel like trying anymore she will always be allowed to come back and wrestle matches to find her strength again. Hasegawa then surprised Manase with a roll up and everyone else did a three count so they could all call Hasegawa the winner.

Ken Ohka has been inspired recently by Masaaki Mochizuki challenging for the Open The Dream Gate Title at the age of 55 years old. He wants to put the message out there that he would like to team with Mochizuki for a match on 19th July.

In his post-show comments, Imanari brought up that today has been a busy day for the Ibushi Wrestling Institute. He and Maeguchi fought each other in GanPro, Kota Ibushi returned to AEW and shootboxer Yukimitsu Takahashi won his fight today. So in Imanari’s mind today was like a birthday for the Ibushi Wrestling Institute.

There are different special rules for all five matches on the show. Match #1 is the first to get a total score of seven in pin counts wins. Match #2 needs everyone to enter Rumble style before it can end. Match #3 involves a cursed spring that will manifest underneath the ring. Match #4 is a mystery even to BASARA because no explanation was given with the title. Match #5 is a Lumberjack Match.

The preliminary qualifiers for the Tokyo Princess Cup have reached a bump in the road due to illnesses and injuries so three matches are happening at this show instead of two.

Both Hyper Misao and Kira Summer have been cleared to return. Summer won’t be having her delayed qualifier match just yet though. She and Misao will both be part of a 6-Woman Tag to shake off any ring rust they picked up over the last month.

Yuki Arai and Mifu Ashida are both missing the show because of schedule conflicts.

This is supposed to be Haruna Neko’s homecoming show but she cannot wrestle due to injury. She will still be there and a special event will be held for her after the show ends.

2. Ken Ohka, PSYCHO & Moeka Haruhi defeated Shinichiro Tominaga, Daisuke® & Banny Oikawa when PSYCHO pinned Daisuke® with the God Trap (10:54).
3. Yuna Manase & Mio Shirai defeated YuuRI & Nanami Hatano when Shirai pinned YuuRI with the Purple Flash (9:52).
4. GanPro Ultimate Rules: Tyson Maeguchi & Thanomsak Toba defeated Shuichiro Katsumura & Takuya Wada by Knockout when Maeguchi knocked out Katsumura with a Right Backhand Blow (14:00).
5. Keisuke Ishii, Toru Sugiura & Munetatsu Nakamura defeated Yumehito Imanari, Mizuki Watase & Shigehiro Irie when Nakamura pinned Watase with the German Suplex (21:34).

Munetatsu Nakamura was recently given the nickname “GanPro’s Promising Hope” and he is starting to prove he deserves the moniker. He scored the pinfall on Mizuki Watase in the main event thanks to some help from Toru Sugiura. The two set Watase up with a German Suplex for a nearfall. Then Sugiura hit Watase with a Rolling Elbow and Nakamura landed another German Suplex to get the three count. Nakamura then challenged Watase & Shigehiro Irie for the Spirit Of Ganbare World Tag Team Titles on 22nd June. However both Irie and Sugiura have bookings elsewhere that day. Michiyoshi Mishima decided the title match can happen on 19th July and 22nd June will get a Watase Vs Nakamura singles match instead.

The GanPro Ultimate Rules fitted Tyson Maeguchi really well and he ended up knocking out Shuichiro Katsumura to win the match for his team. In fact he likes the rules so much he might start calling himself Tyson “Ultimate” Maeguchi whenever he fights with gloves on. Bolstered by the win, he approached Yumehito Imanari at the end of the show and challenged him for the Spirit Of Ganbare World Title. He told Imanari he’s been treading the muddy waters of indie wrestling for the last year and finally climbed his way up to this point. Imanari agreed and wants the title match to happen on 22nd June. He pointed out that they both belong to the Ibushi Wrestling Institute and he knows what it is like to get stuck in the muddy waters of independent wrestling.

Mio Shirai is getting comfortable being in the ring again ever since she returned from retirement five months ago. After beating YuuRI today she wonders if YuuRI has been getting any stronger too wrestling in Ganbare☆Pro and Ice Ribbon? YuuRI may think she is but she should be training even harder if she wants to beat Shirai. If she has a problem with that then they can have a singles match against each other. GanPro obliged and booked the match for 19th July.

Mishima introduced everyone to a new trainee. Sentaro Motoshima was born in Kagoshima on 4th October, 2001. He is currently getting ready for his debut match and will participate in exhibition matches on upcoming shows as part of his preparations.

An injury report was given out by Tokyo Joshi Pro today for three of their wrestlers. Hyper Misao’s arm injury has been revealed to be ligament damage in her right elbow and she will remain out of action until late June. Haruna Neko picked up another knee injury and will miss this weekend’s shows. She is currently having it examined so TJPW will give an update once her diagnosis is known.

Kira Summer has a thigh injury and will be resting for another 4 weeks. Her Tokyo Princess Cup qualifier match with Wakana Uehara that was meant to happen on Saturday is postponed until she returns. However if she is still not cleared to wrestle by late June she may have to forfeit the match.

Parts of the undercard for Saturday’s show has been changed because of Neko and Summer’s injuries. There is now one less match and Uehara takes Neko’s place in Match #2.

The trainee Konatsu will now go by the name Ren Konatsu for her debut. She was born in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka on 26th May 2001 and is 153cm tall. She was originally an SKE48 fan and started watching TJPW to follow Yuki Arai. However it was Suzume who inspired Konatsu to try wrestling out for herself so Suzume gets to be her very first opponent.

A shootfight style ruleset is being tried out by Ganbare☆Pro for Match #4. The GanPro Ultimate Rules can be won by knockout, submission or referee stoppage. There are no rope breaks and moves involving use of the ropes or corners are prohibited. Also double team moves and tag partners breaking up the opponent’s holds are not allowed. Should a grounded fighter position himself onto the ring apron the referee will shout “Don’t Move” and the match will pause for the wrestlers to reposition themselves over to the centre of the ring. Intentional fouls are an immediate disqualification while non-serious fouls result in a warning. Two warnings will result in a disqualification. Given the fighting styles of Shuichiro Katsumura, Takuya Wada, Tyson Maeguchi and Thanomsak Toba they should all adapt to the rules no problem.

Today was MAO’s final block match in the Best Of The Super Juniors tournament. He was able to beat SHO using everything he learned in DDT throughout his career and finished tied for first in his block with 12 points. However due to head-to-head tiebreakers he did not qualify for the final. I will write a full report for his tour with New Japan next week. Next week he comes back home to rejoin KANON and fight some old friends.

The rules for the Lumberjack Pool Crocodile Match have not been explained yet. Not even those in charge of DDT knows what it’s going to be.

The next match in Toru Owashi’s 20th Anniversary series is a partial reunion of DISASTER BOX! He will be in the same match as HARASHIMA, Yuki Ueno and Kazuki Hirata. Sadly Naomi Yoshimura will not be in attendance to complete the reunion.

Now that Danshoku Dieno is done with being a Strong Style wrestler, he’ll have to find his strength somewhere else to fight four opponents at once.

A wrestling ring was set up next to the boat race lake for Ganbare☆Pro to host a couple of matches in between the races. While none of the wrestlers were unlucky enough to take a dip in the water, the main event did spread out of the ring to take advantage of the surroundings. Also some of the wrestlers in Match #2 attacked each other with water guns.

Having The Great Sasuke as one of the guest wrestlers inspired Munetatsu Nakamura to use the Michinoku Driver II to win their tag match.

Ken Ohka & Mio Shirai had an uneasy time teaming up again for the first time in 13 years but they were able to find that chemistry again as the match went on. Shirai also got into a fight with YuuRI after the match to build up their tag bout on 1st June.

The singles match between Maki Itoh and Uta Takami is going to mean a lot to Takami. She tweeted about the time she was a trainee and took an Elbow Strike from Itoh for the first time. She would never forget the pain. Then when Takami got to wrestle Itoh for the first time back in January she hit her with an Elbow Strike using all of her heart. However Itoh hit back with an Elbow Strike using all of her soul. They then had a singles match at the Garafes show in March where Takami felt like she couldn’t do anything against Itoh. It was the most depressed she ever felt so with this rematch coming up she is going to put all of her soul into it.

The two current holders of Asian championships are teaming up on this show. Yuki Kamifuku recently lost the VPW Women’s Title but still has the Queen Of Asia Title in her possession while Raku is currently the SETUP All Asia Women’s Champion.

Hyper Misao is still out of action with the right hand injury she suffered last week.

A special memorial show for the late Katsuji Nagashima will be taking place later this month. DDT, New Japan, GLEAT and Ganbare☆Pro along with the Battle News website will hold the show at the rooftop of the Yodobashi HD Ikebukuro Building in Tokyo to pay tribute to the Heisei era’s pro wrestling mastermind who passed away back in February. Admission to the event is free although visitors are encouraged to leave a donation at the reception desk with all of the funds minus the minimum expenses being donated to his widow.

The DDT match of the show will be the final match for New World Japan, the nWo Japan parody that Sanshiro Takagi put together in 2012 that included Nagashima as the unit’s backer. The GLEAT match includes Katsuhiko Nakajima who had his debut match in Wrestle Japan, the company that Nagashima helped launch after he left NJPW. The other wrestlers in the match El Lindaman, Minoru Tanaka and Yumehito Imanari also had connections with Nagashima when he was alive.

Yuji Nagata will be at the event as one of the guests for a talk show segment being held in between the two matches. Also former AKB48 idol Chisato Nakata will be the special ring announcer for the event. She was a radio host with Nakajima for over two years on a show called Avalanche Brainbuster Radio.

So how are the semi finals shaking out? Kazusada Higuchi and Yuki Ueno are both trying to climb back to the top of DDT. Higuchi’s run has been presenting him as being completely recovered from his injuries while Ueno has a specific vision of DDT in mind that he feels only he can lead. Meanwhile KANON has a grudge match with Hideki Okatani. It was Okatani who helped DAMNATION T.A kick KANON out of the unit as his replacement and the new mean streak has served him well ever since. KANON found a new path to change the error of his ways but a chance at revenge might briefly turn him back into a psychopath.

1. Tyson Maeguchi defeated MASA☆TAKA with a High Kick (8:54).
2. Kazumasa Yoshida & Ali Najima defeated Shota Kawakami & Shota Kofuji when Yoshida pinned Kawakami with the Tombstone Piledriver (13:03).
3. YuuRI, Nanami Hatano & Kirari Wakana defeated Chanyota, Honoka & Saran when YuuRI pinned Saran with the Swanton Bomb (14:17).
4. Mochizuki Jr. defeated Munetatsu Nakamura with the German Suplex (11:39).

Ganbare☆Pro is the latest promotion following the trend of holding wrestling shows focusing on the younger and less experienced wrestlers. Everyone taking part in the “YOUNG GANBARE SUMMIT” had to have less than 5 years of in-ring experience to be booked. Despite the show being on the small scale there was still an impressive amount of representation on the card with 11 organisations being involved in total (GanPro, Dragongate, Diana, Ice Ribbon, P.P.P. TOKYO, WAVE, Osaka Style Wrestling, Big Japan, Sportiva, Ito Dojo and the Ibushi Wrestling Institute)

Dragongate’s Mochizuki Jr. beat Munetatsu Nakamura in the main event to prove he is better at using the German Suplex. Nakamura said he felt crushed by the pressure but was glad to have the match. This is the start of a new rivalry and he wants to get revenge on Mochizuki Jr. Nakamura does not care where the rematch can take place. Mochizuki Jr. said he is happy to see other wrestlers from his generation face him with such passion. He would like to be invited back to GanPro again sometime.
