1. Takumi Tsukamoto & Yasu Urano defeated Fuminori Abe & Masato Kamino when Tsukamoto pinned Kamino with a Half Crab Hold (12:55).
2. FUMA (Best Stretchman V3) & Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi defeated Best Stretchman V3 (Daichi Kazato) & Stretchman Man when FUMA pinned V3 with the Best Stretch Bomber (4:41).
3. Sento Minzoku Vs Sakigake!! Iron Family: Ryuichi Sekine & Daiki Shimomura defeated SAGAT & Yusuke Kubo when Shimomura pinned SAGAT with the Orange Sunset (10:23).
4. Heaven Summit ~Itadaki~ – Round 2: Ryota Nakatsu defeated Takato Nakano with a Cross Armbreaker (11:45).
5. Heaven Summit ~Itadaki~ – Round 2: Isami Kodaka defeated Tsutomu Oosugi (w/ Banana Senga) with a Modified Forward Roll (20:15).

The Heaven Summit semi-finals are now official. Isami Kodaka and Ryota Nakatsu join Minoru Fujita and SAGAT in the final four. After Kodaka defeated Tsutomu Oosuji, he said BASARA has given him many good rivals but he cannot afford to give away the 500,000 yen tournament prize to anyone else but himself! He also told everyone the new catchphrase he came up with when he was at Game Changer Wrestling earlier this month: “Peace & Fuck!”

Nakatsu was able to counter Takato Nakano’s La Magistral Cradle into a Cross Armbreaker to make him tap. He didn’t take Nakano lightly because Nakano was able to beat Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi with a flash pin in the 1st Round. However Nakatsu believes he trains too much for Nakano to ever catch up with him. Now Nakatsu gets to wrestle Kodaka in a singles match for the first time in three months.

If SAGAT thought he was upper tier now with his tournament run then Daiki Shimomura sent him crashing back down to Earth. A surprise Sunset Orange pinned SAGAT for the big tag match upset. FUMA is trying to keep SAGAT motivated by saying he has the prestige of the Iron Family inside him but SAGAT can’t help but feel angry over the result.

The mysterious power of the Best Stretchman hood was shown again in Match #2 when it was passed from wrestler to wrestler, briefly turning them into Best Stretchman V3. FUMA ended up with the hood and he used the Best Stretch Bomber to pin V3/Daichi Kazato. Afterwards FUMA as V3 yelled that everyone was still weak. He ordered everyone to do 666 stretches until Stretchman Man pulled the hood off him.

BASARA Going Independent In 2020

1. Special Single Match: Sanshiro Takagi Vs Isami Kodaka

A press conference was held today between Sanshiro Takagi and Isami Kodaka to announce that BASARA will be going completely independent from DDT at the end of the year. The final BASARA show under the DDT umbrella will be their winter Korakuen Hall show on 28th December. A new office for BASARA will be established this October to run the promotion in 2020 along with a new website and service for live ticket sales.

The full list of people joining this new office for BASARA are Isami Kodaka, FUMA, Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi, Gouma Ryu, Daichi Kazato/Best Stretchman V3, SAGAT, Yusuke Kubo, Ryota Nakatsu, Takumi Tsukamoto, Ryuichi Sekine, Daiki Shimomura, Takato Nakano, Fuminori Abe, Masato Kamino, ring announcer Rikiya Shindo and referee Yuya Okada.

This was something Kodaka had wanted to do with BASARA since the beginning, to build something from scratch and do his best to run it on his own. At 38 years old Kodaka thinks that now is the time in his life to take that challenge. He has faith in his roster to take this big step forward. The shows themselves will not be that different. What Kodaka has now with BASARA is what he wants to continue, just as an independent entity.

To mark this decision, a match has been booked between Kodaka and Takagi for November’s Sumo Hall show which is featuring all of the DDT promotions. The two have only had one singles match before back in 2013. Kodaka won that match. Takagi believes he will be the KO-D Openweight Champion thanks to his Right To Challenge Gauntlet and promises to defend the title against Kodaka at their November match. Kodaka was asked if he would also put the BJW Death Match Title on the line if he is still the champion by then. Kodaka smiled and said that is looking too far into the future.

Takagi later mentioned that DDT will be keeping the existing footage of BASARA shows on DDT UNIVERSE and will continue to have the remaining shows for 2019. Nothing has been decided yet for 2020 onwards.

As for continuing BASARA coverage on this blog, I’m following the same path for now. Sticking with them throughout 2019 and seeing what happens in 2020. I would like to continue following BASARA and if their online presence is still easy to find once they go independent, I should be fine with them. But if they go the Hard Hit route where info for shows are sparse then I may have to drop it.

8. Heaven Summit ~Itadaki~ – Round 1: SAGAT defeated Ryuichi Sekine with the Goregrind (11:35).

The opening show of this year’s Heaven Summit ~Itadaki~ began with news that the winner will receive a 500,000 yen cash prize. The big news coming out of the 1st Round is Ryuichi Sekine getting eliminated by SAGAT! The Union MAX Champion couldn’t get the Let’s Combine locked in and that ended up costing him. SAGAT took him down with a Short Range Lariat and pinned him with the Goregrind. SAGAT kept asking himself in his victory speech if this was a dream. The audience cheers made him realise this was real.

Daichi Kazato was in for a bit of a fright when FUMA found the hood belonging to Best Stretchman V3 hidden in Kazato’s tights. FUMA put on the hood for a taunt but suddenly transformed into a Best Stretchman and did his moves! Kazato took the hood back and wore it himself. He also attached a large rubber band from his waist to the ropes to keep him grounded against FUMA’s attacks. That backfired when Kazato dove off the top rope and the band held him back. That allowed FUMA to hit the Jawbreaker kick for the win.

If Minoru Fujita wins the tournament, he wants to spend the 500,000 yen on his own independently produced show using the BASARA roster.

A knee injury early into the match ruined Takumi Tsukamoto’s chances of advancing. He missed a top rope attack and landed on his knee. Tsutomu Oosugi targeted the injury with a low Dropkick and quickly got the pin with a School Boy.

Isami Kodaka used a Double Wrist Clutch Exploder to win against his stablemate Daiki Shimomura. The move is now called the Fundo No Tsumi (Sin Of Rage).

The other big upset in Round 1 was Takato Nakano eliminating the first Heaven Summit winner Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi! Nakano used the Warrior’s Return as a counter for Hiroshi’s Riki Lariat.

The 2nd Round matches are Takato Nakano Vs Ryota Nakatsu, Isami Kodaka Vs Tsutomu Oosugi, Minoru Fujita Vs FUMA and Yasu Urano Vs SAGAT.

Gunso appeared during the show to ask Kodaka when and where the annual summertime rivalry between BASARA and Dove Pro will begin? They agreed to do shows in August. There will also be a prelude bout on 28th July.

1. Ryota Nakatsu defeated Masato Kamino with the Powerslave (10:03).
2. Imprint Yoga War!: Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi & SAGAT Vs Best Stretchman V3 & Konaka = Pale One ended in a Draw when Hiroshi and Pale One pinned each other with Indian Yoga and Pakistani Yoga at the same time (11:22).
3. Yasu Urano & Kengo Takai defeated FUMA & Yusuke Kubo when Urano pinned Kubo with a Jackknife Pin (14:31).
4. Isami Kodaka defeated Fuminori Abe with the Samson Clutch (17:24).
5. Ryuichi Sekine & Daichi Shimomura defeated Takumi Tsukamoto & Takato Nakano when Sekine submitted Nakano with the Let’s Combine (11:19).

After the main event Ryuichi Sekine called out the roster so they could hold the lottery for tomorrow’s tag team tournament. The 1st Round matches are Yasu Urano & Ryota Nakatsu Vs Ryuichi Sekine & Isami Kodaka, SAGAT & Daichi Kazato Vs Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi & Takumi Tsukamoto and FUMA & Fuminori Abe Vs Masato Kamino & Daiki Shimomura. The team of Takato Nakano & Yusuke Kubo get a bye to the semi finals and will face the winners of FUMA/Abe Vs Kamino/Shimomura.

For some reason Nakatsu’s name was not included in the draw. When the lottery ended with Urano having no tag partner, it was decided that Nakatsu would join his team.

Kodaka defeated Abe in the clash of champions. Kodaka used a punching pad and a mini stepladder against Abe then caught him in a Samson Clutch during a scramble to get the pin.

Kengo Takai dressed like Yasu Urano for their tag match. FUMA & Yusuke Kubo tried to manipulate the two into hitting each other but Urano was able to duck Takai’s Lariat and Kubo took the blow instead. Urano then used a Jackknife to pin Kubo.

When Konaka = Pale One was introduced by the ring announcer as the “Pakistan Monster” Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi tried to intimidate him by calling SAGAT the “Juice Monster”. Later when SAGAT got Best Stretchman V3 out of the ring, Hiroshi and Konaka got into a test of strength. It resulted in both of them using their yoga abilities to roll onto their own shoulders. Both of them were counted as a pin and the match was declared a draw.

Ryota Nakatsu’s Powerslide is a modified Camel Clutch.

5. Union MAX Title: Ryuichi Sekine defeated Ryota Nakatsu (c) with the Let’s Combine (28:15).
*Ryota Nakatsu fails in V6. Ryuichi Sekine becomes the 12th Union MAX Champion!

The two men that made up Cavalry fought each other today for the Union MAX Title and in a big result it was Ryuichi Sekine who came out on top! The match almost reached the half hour point when Sekine put all of his weight down on the Let’s Combine to make Ryota Nakatsu give up. Nakatsu admitted that Sekine was too strong for him and this was a complete victory for the new champion. Sekine thanked the fans for spending the last day of Golden Week at the BASARA show.

Minoru Fujita complained to Ikuto Hidaka before their match because Hidaka hasn’t grown a tail yet. He didn’t want to team with a tailless person.

There were plenty of new championships on show during the day. Fuminori Abe arrived with the UWA World Middleweight Title he won at K-DOJO last Thursday. Isami Kodaka brought the BJW Death Match Title he only just won in Big Japan yesterday.

Abe wanted to wrestle barefoot with Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi to make it an even fight. He started screaming when Hiroshi sang during the match. Hiroshi tried to take advantage but his Scorpion Deathlock was countered into an Achilles Tendon Hold and then turned into a Cross Heel Hold to make Hiroshi tap out.
