4. Special Single Match: Akito Vs Kazuki Hirata
5. Special Single Match: Tetsuya Endo Vs To-y
6. Special Single Match: Yuki Iino Vs Makoto Oishi
7. KO-D Tag Team Titles: Chris Brookes & Takeshi Masada (c) Vs MAO & Shunma Katsumata

Poor Takeshi Masada still isn’t getting much respect despite being one half of the KO-D Tag Team Champions. At the contract signing for this title match ShunMao called CDK their rivals instead of SCHADENFREUDE International and Chris Brookes even agreed with that notion. On the bright side Brookes is advising Masada to wrestle the match in their own unique way. That matters to his development just as much as winning or losing.

Makoto Oishi’s farewell tour brings him over to Yuki Ueno for what could be their last singles match together.

If To-y is still holding his Right To Challenge Shield by the time this show happens then Tetsuya Endo has a big chance to win it and set up another shot at Aoki for the KO-D Title. Akito could also possibly risk his Shield in a match against Kazuki Hirata. Meanwhile Masahiro Takanashi is laying low and hiding away in multi-man tag matches where the risk of directly losing a fall is much much lower.

Ryuichi “Fire” Kawakami is not running away from DDT after losing to Naya. He lost clean to Naya when they finally faced each other in a singles match but they will meet again in an 8-Man Tag Match here.

9. Princess Tag Team Titles: Suzume & Arisu Endo (c) Vs Miyu Yamashita & Maki Itoh
10. Princess Of Princess Title: Miu Watanabe (c) Vs Ryo Mizunami

There was a contract signing held today for Yuki Arai and Moka Miyamoto to promote the International Princess Title match. Miyamoto spoke about always valuing the spirit of harmony and how she incorporates Japanese elements into her wrestling. That is how she created the Korokan move during her first attempt to win the IP Title in 2022. So her goal if she becomes the champion is to spread those feelings across the world. Arai would like to see Miyamoto win the title if the champion was somebody else but she will defend it to the death against her. She also wants to start defending the title overseas, especially if it helps SKE48 with their efforts to grow internationally. If Arai beats Miyamoto then she will hold the record for most IP Title defences with 5 wins. She wants to be proud of her title reign and hopes this match will be memorable for reasons more than just her breaking the record.

3. Ryota Nakatsu & Lil’ Kraken Vs Yumehito Imanari & Mizuki Watase
4. Takumi Tsukamoto, SAGAT & Minoru Fujita Vs Guts Ishijima, Hideyoshi Kamitani & Kuma Arashi
5. UWA World Tag Team Titles: Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino (c) Vs Isami Kodaka & Ryuichi Sekine

The UWA World Tag Team Titles have been used mainly in Big Japan for the past few years and belonged to Michinoku Pro before that. Thanks to Aijin Tag winning the belts this week the championship is now being defended over to BASARA. It didn’t take long for them to find challengers because Isami Kodaka & Ryuichi Sekine quickly decided they wanted a title shot after they saw Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino’s victory.

The “HIEN” branding is bringing in more fresh faces to BASARA. Ganbare☆Pro are sending over Yumehito Imanari & Mizuki Watase as a tag team. There is also a mixture of outside talent being put together as Guts Ishijima, Hideyoshi Kamitani & Kuma Arashi take on the BASARA home team. There’s even a tag match with Speed Of Sounds on opposite sides to freshen up the undercard.

7. DDT Universal Title: Yuki Iino (c) Vs Yukio Naya

DDT got Kaisei Takeshi to sell out a show so a full Korakuen Hall has to watch Danshoku Dieno Vs Makoto Oishi. I kind of have to respect the carniness of it all.

BASARA “TSUKAMOTO & NAKATSU ANNIVERSARY FESTIVAL!” Results

September 11, 2024

BASARA “TSUKAMOTO & NAKATSU ANNIVERSARY FESTIVAL! ~THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT~”, 11/09/2024
Shinjuku FACE
??? Fans – Unannounced

1. Isami Kodaka & Ryuichi Sekine defeated FUMA & Takeru Inoue when Sekine submitted Inoue with the Let’s Combine (12:13).
2. Fuminori Abe defeated Judomaster with a Wakigatame (6:45).
3. 4 Way Tag Match: Tsutomu Oosugi & Banana Senga defeated KUBITO & Daichi Kazato, SAGAT & Lil’ Kraken and Gouma Ryu & Yasu Urano when Senga pinned Ryu with a School Boy (12:11).
4. UWA World Tag Team Titles: Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino defeated Kota Sekifuda & Kaji Tomato (c) when Nakano pinned Sekifuda with the Takagari (13:39).
*Kota Sekifuda & Kaji Tomato fails in V5. Aijin Tag becomes the 37th UWA World Tag Team Champions!
5. Hardcore Match: Yusaku Ito defeated Takumi Tsukamoto with a Stacked Chair Shots (15:56).
6. Ryota Nakatsu Vs Naoki Tanizaki ended in a Double Knockout (13:40).

The former Sparky wrestlers fought each other to a double knockout. In the final moments of the match Naoki Tanizaki did the Implant for a nearfall and Ryota Nakatsu came back with a Thrust Kick followed by a Northern Lights Bomb. Both men were down and out by that point with neither being able to answer the 10 count. They were able to have the energy to talk afterwards. Nakatsu’s been wrestling for ten years now and his time in Sparky made up a lot of that time. Whether it was in BASARA or Dove Pro, Tanizaki has been a huge part of his wrestling career. Tanizaki said he always considered Nakatsu as a rival. He also promoted a Dove Pro show happening on 12th October that Nakatsu is also booked for. They will settle their match on another day but tonight they’re going to have a good drink together!

The show also celebrated Takumi Tsukamoto’s 15th anniversary in wrestling. He had a Hardcore Match against Yusaku Ito that featured steel cans and chairs as the main weapons. They kept doing moves to each other onto a pile of chairs but neither could win the match that way. So Ito decided to stack up on chairs and swing them at Tsukamoto for a powerful chairshot that finally put him down for the three count. Tsukamoto later said he lost to a thug and wants to have a rematch with that thug for his 20th anniversary. He also had kinder words to say about Ito, like calling him his little brother.

The UWA World Tag Team Titles have come to BASARA and now belong to Aijin Tag! A Frog Splash from Kota Sekifuda proved to be a big mistake when Takato Nakano blocked it with his knees. Nakano & Masato Kamino then upped the double team moves on him so Nakano could pin Sekifuda with the Takagari. The title change comes right before Kaji Tomato runs his own self produced show later this month. That has to sting at least a little bit. Isami Kodaka & Ryuichi Sekine announced after the show they want to challenge Aijin Tag for the belts on 24th September.

BASARA “BASARA 255 ~HIEN~” Results

August 13, 2024

BASARA “BASARA 255 ~HIEN~”, 13/08/2024
Shin-Kiba 1st RING
??? Fans – Unannounced

1. Takumi Tsukamoto & SAGAT defeated Isami Kodaka & Takeru Inoue when SAGAT pinned Inoue with the Goregrind (9:40).
2. Takato Nakano defeated Kota Sekifuda with the Takagari (7:37).
3. Daisuke Sekimoto defeated Ryota Nakatsu with the Big Bang Catastrophe (14:59).
4. Kengo Mashimo & Fuminori Abe defeated Ryuichi Sekine & FUMA when Abe submitted Sekine with a Back Knee Hold (13:36).
5. Kuma Arashi defeated Masato Kamino with the Diving Senton (11:58).

Today was the beginning of BASARA’s new brand split when it comes to running shows at Shin-Kiba 1st RING. The “HIEN” shows promise to present Hard Mode style wrestling while BASARA’s usual presentation is being saved for “SOUEN” events. In the main event Masato Kamino lost to the visitor Kuma Arashi but the two were in good spirits with each other after the match. Takato Nakano joined up with Kamino to have a toast with fans to close out the show. The two of them promised to lead this new direction for BASARA and pull each other in many different directions.

Fuminori Abe outwrestled Ryuichi Sekine in a preview of the next Iron Fist Tag Team Titles match. Abe countered the Let’s Combine into a Cradle for a nearfall and then turned that into a Back Knee Hold to make Sekine submit. Sekine will always admit when he is beaten and that happened today. He promised he will fight harder to beat Astronauts in the title match. Abe thinks highly of Sekine because he is a wonderful and genuine person. But he is not going to let him take the titles away from him, no matter how explosive he will be.

In what could have been an ode to Keith Lee, the Big Bang Catastrophe was used by Daisuke Sekimoto to win his match against Ryota Nakatsu.

After Nakano won his match against Kota Sekifuda, he reminded the crowd that Sekifuda is one-half of the UWA World Tag Team Champions with Kaji Tomato. Since Nakano just defeated him, he wants Aijin Tag to get a title shot! Sekifuda said he only just lost the BJW Jr. Heavyweight Title to Ikuto Hidaka and he will die before he loses this championship too. He and Tomato already have a title defence lined up somewhere else anyway so he declined Nakano’s challenge. Nakano warned him that Aijin Tag will be waiting to take the titles from them.

The opening match was changed around because Lil’ Kraken suffered a back injury yesterday. Isami Kodaka & Takeru Inoue were meant to be opponents but were now on the same team. Inoue’s original partner Takumi Tsukamoto teamed up with SAGAT instead.

Kodaka was asked after the show if the Chouten ~Itadaki~ will happen this year and if the brand split will have any effect on it? He is considering having the tournament once BASARA has settled into the new format. He has an idea to split the field in half between “HIEN” and “SOUEN” wrestlers because he does not intend to have many of them work on both brands.

??? Fans – Unannounced

1. Takeru Inoue Debut Match: Isami Kodaka defeated Takeru Inoue with a Brainbuster (9:10).
2. 3 Way Tag Match: Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino defeated Daichi Kazato & Lil’ Kraken and Tsutomu Oosugi & Banana Senga when Kamino pinned Kraken with the Lariat (9:56).
3. Ryuichi Sekine, Takumi Tsukamoto & Ryota Nakatsu defeated FUMA, Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi & SAGAT when Sekine submitted SAGAT with the Let’s Combine (9:56).

*V1 for Astronauts.
6. Union MAX Title: Minoru Fujita (c) defeated Yasu Urano with the BONEYARD (20:53).
*V6 for Minoru Fujita.

Minoru Fujita has now tied the record amount of Union MAX Title defences with six wins in this reign. He defeated Yasu Urano by dropping him with the Tombstone Piledriver and then making him submit to the Reverse Viper Hold, or BONEYARD as he likes to call it. With no clear challengers on the horizon Fujita called for a reset and will accept the challenge of anyone who comes forward. He told the fans how much he appreiciates the view because two years ago he came close to dying. He sees there is potential for growth in BASARA and he wants everyone in the promotion to reach that potential together.

Two proteges of Dick Togo challenged Astronauts for the Iron Fist Tag Team Titles but could not find a way to take the belts away from them. Takuya Nomura got rid of Daisuke Sasaki with a German Suplex and Fuminori Abe submitted KUBITO with a Sleeper Hold. After the match Abe and Sasaki had to be separated from each other. Then Ryuichi Sekine & Ryota Nakatsu entered the ring and declared themselves the next challengers for the tag titles. It’s a Cavalry reunion and the match will happen on 27th August!

It was a busy day for Isami Kodaka because he wrestled twice on the show. The match he had late in the card was against Yuki Ishikawa as part of Ishikawa’s road to retirement. Kodaka came out on top and Ishikawa praised him for having more than enough energy to wrestle twice. Ishikawa said he became the wrestler he is today thanks to Kodaka. He enjoyed wrestling him today and it makes him want to enjoy his remaining matches until his retirement on 12th August.

Kodaka’s other match on the show was against the debuting rookie Takeru Inoue. The newcomer fell to a Brainbuster but Kodaka was pleased with his performance. Since Inoue is BASARA’s first trained wrestler in over four years, Kodaka says he wants to nurture him carefully. Inoue said he joined BASARA because he admires Kodaka and his goal is to surpass him as the most unique wrestler. He also revealed his sports history is six years of volleyball and he spent a year training at the HEAT UP dojo.

1. Isami Kodaka & Lil’ Kraken defeated Daichi Kazato & Tsutomu Oosugi when Kodaka pinned Kazato with the Ikki Tousen (11:30).
2. SAGAT & Judomaster Vs Banana Senga & Karate Master ended in a Double Countout (8:36).
3. FUMA defeated Gaia Hox with an Arm Bar (11:49).
4. KUBITO, Yasu Urano & Masahiro Takanashi defeated Ryota Nakatsu, Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino when KUBITO submitted Nakatsu with the Crossover Face Lock (13:26).
5. Union MAX Title: Minoru Fujita (c) defeated Takumi Tsukamoto with the Modified Samson Clutch (15:59).
*V5 for Minoru Fujita.

A Samson Clutch from out of nowhere resulted in Minoru Fujita retaining the Union MAX Title against Takumi Tsukamoto. Afterwards Tsukamoto wanted to speak on the microphone but didn’t have much to say so Yasu Urano took it from him. Urano told Fujita they have known each other for so long. Who is the next challenger going to be? It’s Urano! The fans called for the match to happen right away but Urano noticed the referees were already preparing to go home. Isami Kodaka stepped in and said the title match should happen somewhere important so it will take place at Korakuen Hall on 4th August! Fujita said ever since he won the title he hasn’t felt like he is the leader of BASARA. He does not know what he needs to do to satisfy that feeling but he will not give up on himself for as long as he lives.

There was a reason why KUBITO used the Crossface Lock to win his match. He wants to invite his classmate Daisuke Sasaki over to BASARA for its next Korakuen show. KUBITO has an idea for the two of them to team up and challenge Astronauts for the Iron Fist Tag Team Titles. He has not asked BASARA for permission to do this so we will have to wait and see if it will happen.

FUMA and Gaia Hox praised each other and shook hands after their match.

The growing rivalry between Judomaster and Karate Master is now dragging SAGAT and Banana Senga into the mix. Senga has 9 years of karate experience so he fits in fine. SAGAT though knows neither martial art. Instead he is a Taekwondo guy. The match turned into an brawl out of the ring where some wrestlers also acted like cats as well as martial artists. It lasted long enough for everyone to get counted out.

6. Iwate Specialty Special Tag Match: Yuki Ueno & Shunma Katsumata Vs MAO & Keigo Nakamura

The DDT card also has a few changes but that’s because so many of the young wrestlers want to fight Sanshiro Takagi before his break. Takagi came up with an idea to face them all in a gauntlet of two minute singles matches one after the other. If any of them can beat him in two minutes he promises to increase their pay as a reward! The wrestlers lining up to face him are Takeshi Masada, Yuni, Keigo Nakamura, To-y & Kazuma Sumi.

The KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles are still missing one of the belts after Smile Squash’s attempt to rescue them was only partially successful. They have two of the belts back but KANON still has possession of the third one. Good thing HARASHIMA has a match with him already scheduled so he can try and get it back by force.

This week it was announced that Big Japan wrestler Yuki Ishikawa will be retiring on 12th August. It was a decision he made after he suffered a shoulder injury back in April. He will pay a visit to BASARA the week before his retirement to face Isami Kodaka at Korakuen Hall. It will be one of if not the final singles match of Ishikawa’s career.

DDT/GCW “NEVER ENDING NOISY SUMMER”, 12/08/2024
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

Jordan Oliver has pulled out of the GCW Japan tour due to a torn ACL in his left knee. Marcus Mathers will be replacing him for the tour which includes the DDT show.

BASARA “BASARA 254 ~HIEN~”, 13/08/2024
Shin-Kiba 1st RING

Something BASARA tweeted out today is their plan to separate between the two kinds of “UTAGE” shows they will be producing from August onwards. The “HIEN” shows are now labelled as “Hard Mode” events. The tweet compares the term to “Bati Bati” and they later ruled out doing Hardcore Matches on these shows when a fan responding to them got the two mixed up. So it sounds like BASARA might be giving Battlarts style wrestling a go when using that name. The “SOUEN” shows are now labelled “Fudangi BASARA” and will be no different to the regular “UTAGE” shows they’ve been doing up until now.

5. Zack Sabre Jr. defeated Hikaru Sato with the Orienteering with Napalm Death (10:55).
6. Gedo & Dick Togo defeated El “Exotico” Desperado & Danshoku Dieno when Gedo pinned Dieno with the Gedo Clutch (18:18).

I’m only going to write about the DDT and BASARA related matches but I wanted to include results for the entire card because just look at it! I’d say this is a show full of Fire Pro matches but that reference is a bit old hat nowadays. The influence here is more GCW Spring Break and PWG Mystery Vortex given how much of a modern day wrestling nerd El Desperado is. He has spent the last two months handing out invitations to wrestlers he would like to be in the ring with for a special mystery show he was producing in Korakuen Hall. He also narrated the introductions for each match, either explaining why he put them together or revealing another unexpected surprise he had in store for everyone.

There were hints as to who got invited to take part in the show. Videos were posted on the event’s Twitter page teasing fans with clips of unknown wrestlers being handed the invitations. But one in particular took place in public at a recent DDT show. Desperado straight up asked Danshoku Dieno to come along with a partner of his choice because Despy wanted to see Pheromones chase some Bullet Club wrestlers around the venue. Dieno couldn’t bring Pheromones back so he thought of a good replacement. If El Desperado wanted to experience Pheromones so bad then he will be Dieno’s tag partner! After all this match was the main event and Despy should be headlining his own show.

Desperado was given a spare Danshoku costume and as he went off to get changed the other team made their entrance. It was the two managers of the current New Japan heel factions: Gedo from Bullet Club War Dogs and Dick Togo from House Of Torture! Dieno then did his big Pheromones introduction for El “Exotico” Desperado! The match was as close to the Pheromones experience as they could get away with as both Desperado & Dieno stripped down to their O-backs by the end of it. However Gedo & Togo worked saved each other from taking the Danshoku Driver. Togo gave Dieno the Pedigree and Gedo pinned him with the Gedo Clutch.

There was more DDT involvement elsewhere on the show. Both Chris Brookes and MAO were put into a Hardcore 4 Way Match with El Phantasmo and Masashi Takeda also involved. Desperado admitted in the introduction that he expected one of them to turn down the match because it sounded too dangerous and was surprised no one did. Brookes and MAO smashed each other with plastic boxes. Takeda threatened everyone with his large pair of scissors and eventually got to cut open Brookes’s forehead with it. MAO, ELP and Takeda all ended up underneath the ring and Brookes flushed them out by spraying a fire extinguisher beneath the apron. ELP then took out a literal clothesline with clothes pegs included. He pinched them to Takeda’s ears and Brookes’s nipples. MAO then wrapped the other end of the line around his foot and Super Kicked ELP, pulling the pinched pegs off of the other two! The match lasted the full twenty minute time limit without a winner and had to end in a four way draw.

Afterwards Brookes remained in the ring and got on the microphone. First, he said he would have won if the match lasted longer and complained that a 20 minute time limit is too short. He then told Desperado to get into the ring because he wanted to tell him something. They have known each other for a while but have never been in the ring at the same time until now. Brookes is tired of waiting so he is challenging Desperado to a match at “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2024” in Sumo Hall on 21st July! Despy agreed and shook Brookes’s hand. He then tried to pin him with a School Boy in an attempt to win the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title but Brookes kicked out and escaped.

Daisuke Sasaki got to be part of the show in the other 4 Way Match of the night. Despy wanted it to be a match filled with wrestlers who have lucha libre skills so Sasaki was in there with DOUKI, Eita and most unexpected of all Violento Jack! Lucha moves were used but Jack also brought out a board with sharp halves of plastic cans attached to them. None of the other three wanted to get slammed onto it so they all teamed up together and Super Power Bombed Jack onto it instead. They then piled on top of Jack to pin him for the three count. The referee determined all three pinned Jack at the same time so DOUKI, Eita and Sasaki were each declared winners.

There was even a pre-show match because Despy wanted to see Toru Yano wrestle in Match #0 of the card. He was accompanied by Hiroshi Tanahashi and both were dressed in yankii uniforms. Yano gave out a hint for who their other partner was going to be. He asked what was the name of the heroine played by Miho Nakayama in the movie Be-Bop High School? Tanahashi’s answer was Kyoko. Their partner is Kyoko Inoue and she entered the ring wearing a schoolgirl uniform! Their opponents were also a bunch of Yankees in the forms of Yuko Miyamoto, Isami Kodaka & DASH Chisako! Unfortunately for BASARA fans Kodaka took the fall when he was pinned with Tanahashi’s High Fly Flow. After the match Tanahashi & Yano both gave Inoue a kiss on the cheek at the same time.

BASARA “BASARA 248 ~TAKAGARI 24~” Results

May 11, 2024

BASARA “BASARA 248 ~TAKAGARI 24~”, 11/05/2024
Tokyo Takashimadaira Kumin Center
??? Fans – Unannounced

1. Chicharito Shoki & Daiju Wakamatsu defeated Masato Kamino & Yasu Urano when Shoki pinned Kamino with a Side School Boy (12:47).
2. Minoru Fujita defeated SAGAT with a Rope Assisted Cradle (12:42).
3. Lil’ Kraken, Leo Isaka & Takahiro Katori defeated FUMA, KUBITO & Jet Bar when Kraken pinned KUBITO with the High Angle Jumping Knee Butt (16:12).
4. Ryuichi Sekine & Ryota Nakatsu defeated Takumi Tsukamoto & Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi when Sekine submitted Hiroshi with the Let’s Combine (14:00).
5. Union MAX Title Next Challenger Match: Daichi Kazato defeated Isami Kodaka with the Firebird Splash (17:46).

Could this be the breakthrough match for Daichi Kazato? He pulled out a Firebird Splash to beat Isami Kodaka and become No. 1 Contender for the Union MAX Title. He told fans he still has a long way to go but he wants to have more intense matches to make BASARA the most fun place in the world! Minoru Fujita told him the title match on 28th May will be a battle to break either Kazato’s heart or his own!

In a confusing turn of events, Judomaster has suddenly gone missing and cannot be found. Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi just so happens to live near the venue so he was able to fill in on short notice. Ryota Nakatsu insulted him during the match by telling everyone that Judomaster’s techniques are better. Takumi Tsukamoto even yelled at Hiroshi to do better during the grappling exchanges. Hiroshi ended up tapping out to Ryuichi Sekine which only made Tsukamoto even madder. He then lost his temper and attacked Hiroshi after the match.

Fujita played a lot of mind games with SAGAT from calling him a cat so fans would chant “SAGA-nyan” to forcing him to wear his old mask. He also asked SAGAT to take it easy on him because tomorrow is Mother’s Day in Japan and he just wants to see his mom again. SAGAT agreed to wear the mask and even tried to hide his face when Fujita later pulled the mask off. The confusion worked and SAGAT was able to pin SAGAT with a School Boy while placing one of his foots on the rope for leverage.

After the show Kodaka told reporters that he wants BASARA to start holding two “~UTAGE~” events a month beginning in August. The roster has grown big enough that he had to start leaving regulars off of recent shows. On the other hand there has also been a freshness to recent events because of the young wrestlers from elsewhere working on the undercard. He does not want to cut down on either so his solution is to increase the schedule. That way whoever misses the first “~UTAGE~” event of the month can be booked for the second. The “~UTAGE~” brand will be split into Red shows and Blue shows but BASARA is not doing a brand split. Some wrestlers will be appearing on both and if anyone only ever gets booked for one particular side it will be a coincidence.
