Endo Visits Kobashi, 121000000 Still Alive, Ganpro’s Big Matches

Earlier this week Tetsuya Endo visited Kenta Kobashi at his gym to talk about his successful KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles defence at “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2021”. Kobashi praised Endo for getting bigger. He noticed Endo’s movements haven’t changed and his posture in the air is good so his weight gain isn’t negatively effecting his performance. Endo was advised to target 95-100kg for his ideal weight. However Kobashi also said that Endo didn’t stand out much during the match. Instead the focus was entirely on Yuji Hino and Saki Akai.

Kobashi moved on to talking about Endo’s rivalries with Konosuke Takeshita and Jun Akiyama. He thinks Takeshita defeating Akiyama while Endo couldn’t is the kind of frustration Endo needs in order to become stronger. That along with the support of his fans is what can make Endo the champion again. Endo then showed Kobashi a video of a brand new finishing move he is working on, one nobody else has seen yet. Kobashi approves of it and recommends Endo to work on his arm strength because it is the key to make this mystery move work. He also told him to give it a good name so it will become the move that represents Endo. After an hour long talk, Endo worked out in the gym with Kobashi coaching him.

Look at Shinjiro Otani. He is spoiled for choice when it comes to matches against the Ganbare☆Pro roster. They all want a piece of him and he wants them too. Otani asked for a match against Kouki Iwasaki because Iwasaki’s mentor is Kenichi Yamamoto. In 1995 Yamamoto defeated Otani at a UWFi event. 26 years later Otani gets a chance to get some measure of revenge by fighting his student.

Shu Sakurai will be taking an indefinite leave of absence from Ganpro after 25th September. He explains this decision is being made for positive reasons and he will be using his experience from wrestling to take on new challenges. This is not a retirement from pro wrestling so he may return some day having grown as a pro wrestler and also as a person. Before he leaves, Sakurai wants to wrestle Shuichiro Katsumura so he gets to have that match.

Otani’s other big singles match this month is a first time one on one meeting with Keisuke Ishii. His appearance in Ganpro has given Ishii new motivation after he went through a slump from losing the Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Title. Ishii made the challenge and Otani has been impressed enough with his work to accept it.

Tenryu Project has approved of Hagane Shinno & Shinichiro Tominaga’s challenge for the IJ Tag Team Titles. They gave Kenichiro Arai & Shota permission to defend the belts after the champions accepted the challenge.

It was Otani’s idea to get Tatsuhito Takaiwa booked on the show. I don’t know about you guys but I’ve been noticing this Ganpro/ZERO1 relationship for a while and I wonder if it will lead to anything more permanent down the road.

Sakurai ends his wrestling career with the rest of THE HALFEE.

3. Special Tag Match That Leaves No Stone Unturned: Hagane Shinno & Shinichiro Tominaga defeated Yasu Urano & Shota when Tominaga pinned Shota with the JK (12:28).

Ever since Keisuke Ishii lost the Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Title he felt like he had taken a step backwards in Ganbare☆Pro. But he has gotten out of his sad state and regained motivation once Shinjiro Otani started wrestling here. After winning today’s main event, Ishii asked Otani for a singles match at the 25th September Korakuen Hall show! Otani has been impressed by Ishii’s matches and can’t refuse a challenge from him so he accepted. However Otani also had a few requests of his own. First, he wants a singles match against Kouki Iwasaki somewhere down the road. He found out Iwasaki is a disciple of Kenichi Yamamoto, an old rival of his. He wants to wrestle Iwasaki for that reason. And second, he invited Tatsuhito Takaiwa to participate on the Korakuen show because he has the date free in his schedule. He hopes Ganpro will put him in a suitable match.

The first match in Ken Ohka’s 20th Anniversary celebration went a bit off the rails. Seiya Morohashi ignored the big team entrance and went straight to fighting Shuichiro Katsumura & Shu Sakurai. A Waterwheel Drop from Sakurai almost pinned Ohka but he kicked out. Sakurai was then hit with two Spears, one from Morohashi and then the Flame Spear from Ohka to end the match. Ohka and Katsumura almost came to blows afterwards but Sakurai stopped them and gave an important announcement. For private reasons he will have his final pro wrestling match on 25th September. He explains this is a positive decision and to treat this more like a vacation away from wrestling rather than a retirement. He now only has one month left to wrestle but he will do his best for the remainder of it. Ohka supports Sakurai’s decision and told him to come back when he is able to. Sakurai said backstage that he wants his remaining matches to be with THE HALFEE and Katsumura in particular. He noticed Katsumura left the ring during his announcement.

Both Hagane Shinno & Shinichiro Tominaga are currently in the hunt to win championships. That’s why today was a big match for them because Shota currently holds one half of the IJ Tag Team Titles that were revived by Tenryu Project earlier this year. Tominaga pinned Shota in today’s match and challenged him to put the titles on the line against them at Korakuen Hall. Shota blamed the defeat on Yasu Urano and said he would not have lost today if the other champion Kenichiro Arai was teaming with him. Shota accepted the challenge but warned that Tenryu Project needs to authorize the title match first before it can take place.

The return of Toyko Joshi Pro’s fan club show featured a lot of unusual matches. The main event had all the wrestlers wearing different costumes from the TJPW roster. They were randomly chosen at the start of the show by picking mystery bags left in the ring. Mizuki wore Yuka Sakazaki’s gear, Rika Tatsumi was dressed as Nodoka Tenma, Marika Kobashi got Shoko Nakajima’s costume and to finish it off Pom Harajuku appeared as Miyu Yamashita. Everyone tried to copy the wrestlers they were dressed as.

Instead of having a wrestling match Yuka Sakazaki and Nao Kakuta took part in an Athletic Meet. They faced each other in three games. The first was an obstacle course where they had to spin around in circles, bite a piece of bread hanging over their heads, search for a piece of candy hidden in a plate of powder using only their mouths and then run a lap around the ring. Sakazaki won that race and earned 10 points. The 2nd game was a Three-legged Race with Sakazaki teaming with Suzume and Kakuta teaming with Moka Miyamoto. They all had to race out of the venue to the nearby shop, buy something Daisuke Kiso would like for less than 500 yen and make it back to the venue first. Bonus points were given based on how much Kiso liked his gift. Kakuta & Miyamoto won the race and bought a can of beer for Kiso (Sakazaki & Suzume got protein milk). Kakuta was given 9 points out of 10. She was deducted one point because the beer wasn’t Kiso’s favourite flavour. The final game worth 30 points was a Horse Fight. One team lifted Sakazaki onto their shoulders and another lifted up Kakuta. They had to fight in the air and grab their opponent’s hat from their head to win. Sakazaki got to grab Kakuta’s hat first, winning both the round and the entire match.

On the morning of the show, Nodoka Tenma & Yuki Aino had an accident where they fell and hit their heads. The result was both of them had personality changes and turned into a bunch of delinquents! They trapped Daisuke Kiso in the corner with tape and threatened him with a knife! Hyper Misao couldn’t fight them off by herself so she called for another superhero to help her. It was The Return Of Ultra Shoko to the rescue! Together they defeated The Bakuretsu Sisters and turned them back to normal. But it wasn’t entirely a heroic situation. Tenma held Kiso hostage again but Shoko decided to ignore it. She told the “middle aged man” Kiso to die for justice so she could hit the Ultra 619 on Aino and win the match. Sacrificing captives isn’t the right thing for superheroes to do but it got results so what do I know?

Maki Itoh & Yuki Kamifuku both sang “A Cruel Angel’s Thesis” for their entrance. After they defeated Mirai Maiumi & Kaya Toribami, Itoh said she is going to win the Princess Of Princess Title at Ota Ward Gymnasium.

Miyu Yamashita wore her old costume to fit in with The Up Up Girls (Pro Wrestling) more. She was the “Hot Pink” member of the group today. Together they sang “Upper Kick” to open the show. When it was time to wrestle, the other members had to remind Yamashita she is an idol and couldn’t act aggressive. She got back into character and was still able to win the match for her team.

The name of the show isn’t just there to sound cool. The Dramatic Survivor Unit tournament was revealed to be a reverse bracket where the losing teams advance to the final. Win a match and your team is safe, lose all your matches and your unit must split up! Sanshiro Takagi came up with the idea to avoid DDT getting stale. He wants all the teams to fight for survival and there is no bigger motivation than the survival of your unit! To make things even more riskier, if a champion team is in the disbanding unit they will be forced to vacate their titles too! So if The 37KAMIINA lose and splits up they vacate the KO-D Tag Team Titles. If DAMNATION lose and splits up they vacate the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles. For Junretsu and DISASTER BOX there will be no championships stripped.

Back at the Beer Garden shows Danshoku Dieno and Yuki Iino appealed to form a tag team. Their request wasn’t met because they couldn’t come up with a suitable or tasteful team name. Well today they have their team name and also nicknames to match. From now on Danshoku “Dandy” Dieno & Yuki “Sexy” Iino are Pheromones! They immediately challenged Konosuke Takeshita & Shunma Katsumata for the KO-D Tag Titles and got their shot so they would stop annoying the champions.

If the KO-D Tag Titles happen to be vacated because The 37KAMIINA lose the Dramatic Survivor tournament, then the match will be changed into a decision bout to determine the new champions. So at least Takeshita & Katsumata have a chance to reclaim the belts after they are forced to give them up.

He is in his best condition because of this pressure and is ready to take on Chris Brookes. He hasn’t beaten Brookes since July 2019 when he defended the KO-D Title against him back then. Brookes has won every singles match they’ve had together since then, which were either championship or tournament matches.

Masahiro Takanashi has become active again since coming back from injury. Not in the ring though because ChocoPro doesn’t have one. He wrestles his first match in DDT since March 2020.

After stealing the belt multiple times over the last month, Daisuke Sasaki in now officially the DDT Universal Champion. His first title defence will be on 12th October and he has the right to choose his challenger. He chose CM Punk but DDT cannot make that happen for multiple reasons. Sasaki then picked Minoru Fujita as his back-up choice. Fujita beat Sasaki at July’s DAMNATION produced show so Sasaki wants to avenge that loss. The match is not official yet but DDT will send the challenge over to Fujita.

The team made up of three of the four Tokyo Princess Cup semi-finalists all got their rebound today. Shoko Nakajima said today’s main event was fun and encouraging for her team. It was just what they needed to get over their disappointment in losing the tournament. Mizuki said they’re all feeling frustrated but that is what makes them stronger. Miu Watanabe agreed.

Hyper Misao and Nao Kakuta held a welcome back party for Yuka Sakazaki. They gave balloons to Sakazaki and Pom Harajuku, then popped the balloons over their ears to hurt them and start the match. They both did this despite being on opposite teams.

I am aiming to have a preview written and posted by Thursday night at the latest.

The main event will have Kenta Kobashi at ringside to witness the KO-D Openweight Title match. Whenever he shows up for big matches involving Jun Akiyama, Akiyama usually wins so he is kind of a good luck charm for him. That isn’t meant to be the intention of his appearances though. Last time he appeared in DDT he was invited by Tetsuya Endo to give advice for fighting against Akiyama.

Yuki Ueno briefly had the DDT Universal Title returned to him during today’s press conference. Hisaya Imabayashi convinced Daisuke Sasaki to send the belt back in order to sign the match contract but Sasaki did not attend the signing. Instead he sent a video message that Ueno watched. That turned out to be a trap and Sasaki was in the room all along! He ambushed Ueno, stole the belt and ran off with it yet again!

Saki Akai is determined to win the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles and silence those who are uncomfortable with her wrestling against men. Like Yuji Hino for example. He thinks having a woman on the team is like taking part in a Handicap match. Akai admits she is afraid of taking Chops from Yuji Hino (and he swears he won’t Chop her because it would result in murder) but she needs to overcome those fears to become a champion again. Yukio Sakaguchi credits Akai for burning a fire within himself and Kazusada Higuchi that they have been missing recently. That has been shown during Sakaguchi’s clashes with Soma Takao. They may have to face a cruel reality though. Endo has warned that he has only gotten better since the title match was put together. DAMNATION’s comments made Akai mad and she slapped the rest of Eruption to fire them up.

There has been an attempt by DDT recently to put together more hardcore matches. Jun Kasai has watched some and feels lukewarm towards them. They’re a bit too relaxed for his tastes. But rumours are going around that Kasai has a low pain threshold for stepping on Lego. Shunma Katsumata brought it up and Kasai avoided the topic by saying he never feels pain when he is in front of an audience. MAO wants to prove there is nothing “relaxed” about DDT’s hardcore style. Chris Brookes thinks he is being ignored because he doesn’t feature in the hype video for the match.

The youngsters from the DDT Teenage Project want to make an impact. Ilusion promises to make that impact and be the standout of the match so he can become the symbol of the project. El Unicorn is the smallest wrestler in the match but wants to be in the ring with the likes of Yuji Okabayashi and Naomi Yoshimura. They’re not the only teenagers in the match. Reimu Imai is 16 years old and looks forward to hitting the larger opponents with all he’s got. TAMURA is fascinated to see how these teenagers will fare. HARASHIMA is excited to see DDT run a big show outdoors and it reminds him of the other outdoor shows DDT has held throughout his time with them.

Makoto is also sticking around for a while as part of Yamagata’s group. That’s a woman with a lot of different links and connections in the industry so not all of her matches will be attached to the Manase/Yamagata feud.

Doesn’t matter how battered and bruised she is right now because Maki Itoh could not be happier. After winning the Tokyo Princess Cup she will now face Miyu Yamashita for the Princess Of Princess Title at Ota Ward Gymnasium. Yamashita is amazed at how strong Itoh has become and she wants to beat this version of her. They’ve had several singles matches before including two Princess Title bouts and Itoh has never won any of them. They also team together as 121000000 but Itoh thought they should disband. Yamashita talked her out of it because it wouldn’t make a difference to the match. Therefore there’s no need to split the team up.

Yuki Arai is confirmed to be on the show.

A press conference was held today covering some of the important “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2021” matches. Konosuke Takeshita admitted that losing twice to Jun Akiyama is what helped make him come into this match as a much better wrestler. He wants to win the KO-D Openweight Title and say with pride that “DDT has Takeshita.” Akiyama said that although his opponent is bigger and stronger, he’s going to show him what happens when the feelings in your heart and mind prevail. Akiyama won the previous two matches by submission but will take winning the third match by pinfall if he has to.

Daisuke Sasaki was able to appear on Zoom (goofy background and all) because he is finishing up his quarantine period. His physical absence from the press conference annoyed Yuki Ueno even more because Sasaki still has the stolen DDT Universal Title.

Sanshiro Takagi explained that when students from the DDT Teenage Project turn 20 years old they will become full time members of DDT. Their school education is given priority so will not be wrestling on every show. El Unicorn said he’s been recently inspired by Momiji Nishiya, the 13 year old skateboarder who won gold at the Olympics. Ilusion said he wants to become a big name worldwide. Both of them are just as focused on fighting the big names in their match as they are fighting each other.

Yesterday Atsushi Onita gathered his team together at a parking lot in Chiba to demonstrate the explosions that will be happen for their match. A watermelon was meant to be used as the target. Kuro-chan and his group interrupted the scene and attacked Onita’s team. Super Sasadango Machine smashed the watermelon over Sanshiro Takagi’s head while Akito & Maki Itoh were both taken care of. Kuro-chan & Hikari Noa then grabbed an explosive barbed wire bat and blasted Onita with it. Kuro-chan added insult to injury by pinning Onita while Sasadango counted to three. Kuro-chan promised to retire Onita and take over the rights to explosion death matches!

There’s more to Ganbare☆Joshi than just the Manase & HARUKAZE drama. Cherry allegedly won a match against Shota in impressive fashion on the last show but no evidence of it happening exists. Whatever happened between them resulted in them now teaming together. Miss Mongol usually has Shota’s number when they fight each other and Yumehito Imanari isn’t going to be distracted by any Pocchari Joshi shenanigans.

Yuki Arai’s first match in Nagoya is a big enough deal to main event the show because Nagoya is the home of SKE48. She will team with her mentor Miyu Yamashita against Yuki Aino & Moka Miyamoto. Another SKE48 member Shiori Aoki will be on commentary for the match.

Maki Itoh suffered a fractured left cheekbone in her Tokyo Princess Cup Quarter Final match. It will take two to four weeks for it to heal but she will definitely wrestle on 14th August. She will miss this Saturday’s show though.

The semi final draw was held and the matchups are confirmed. Itoh is confident she will be fully healed in time to face Mizuki in the main event. Overcoming the pain is what makes Itoh stronger and this is the opponents she wants more than anyone else. Mizuki is aiming for the three-peat and has never lost to Itoh before. Winning this match will give her the confidence she needs to win the final 24 hours later. Miu Watanabe is now four years into her pro wrestling career and has fallen in love with it. She also revealed the idol she looks up to most is Mayu Watanabe from AKB48. Her opponent Shoko Nakajima reaches the final four once again but she isn’t taking it for granted. Tokyo Joshi Pro has grown so much over the years that it motivates her to be the best again.

Yuka Sakazaki has her first match back in Japan since coming home from the latest AEW tour.

A few other return appearances brings the Rika Tatsumi Vs NEO Biishiki-gun feud back to life. Yukio Saint Laurent and Antonio Honda get involved again. The only difference is instead of a zombie we get Pom Harajuku.

In a press conference today the participants of both title matches got to speak. The KO-D Tag Team Titles match will be Yusuke Okada’s first championship shot in DDT since he signed with the company. Jun Akiyama is looking forward to teaming with his student and trusts him enough to let him do his stuff. Shunma Katsumata is determined not to lose the titles in his first defence. He also wants to pin Akiyama again like he did at the Ultimate Tag League. His partner Konosuke Takeshita said he will focus on Akiyama because he can rely on Katsumata to win the match if it comes down to him. The match serves as a clash of different wrestling styles and philosophies. Takeshita says there is no correct answer for pro wrestling that applies to everybody. Akiyama disagrees because he thinks the Giant Baba style that he learned has all of the right answers. Baba’s way is the correct way and the proof is in Akiyama being the current KO-D Openweight Champion.

The Olympic atmosphere in Japan has inspired Shinya Aoki to defend the DDT Extreme Title against MAO in a Hardcore Judo match. Aoki and MAO aren’t sure themselves what the rules are in a Hardcore Judo match but they are excited to do it.

He also voiced MAO in the Kemono Michi anime DDT was involved with back in 2019. That’s not all. He has also been the voice in DDT’s opening videos for the last year.

It is a match Yuna Manase originally wanted at “CYBERFIGHT FESTIVAL 2021” but it never came to be. She wants a singles match against Saki Akai so much she crashed a DDT show to demand it. Akai doesn’t have any strong feelings about her opponent. She remembers the year she debuted people online were hoping the two of them would team together but other than that they are from completely different parts of the wrestling scene. Akai recently wrestled in Ganpro and felt everyone there has passion but it went away very quickly. If Manase’s fire is red then Akai’s fire is blue and that is much more hotter.
