3. 3 Way Tag Match: Ryuichi Sekine & FUMA defeated Isami Kodaka & Takumi Tsukamoto and Daiki Shimomura & Lil’ Kraken when FUMA pinned Kraken with a Buzzsaw Kick (9:27).
4. Ryota Nakatsu, Daichi Kazato & Guts Ishijima defeated Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi, Masato Kamino & Tsutomu Oosugi when Kazato pinned Kamino with a School Boy (12:21).
5. Iron Fist Tag Team Titles: Kengo Mashimo & Ayumu Honda (c) defeated SAGAT & Minoru Fujita when Mashimo submitted SAGAT with the Mudo (18:55).

While most of BASARA are preparing for the IRON FIST Tag Tournament starting next month, there was the matter of the Iron Fist Tag Team Titles to deal with today. The outsider team of Kengo Mashimo & Ayumu Honda successfully defended the belts against the Super Family when SAGAT couldn’t free himself from Mashimo’s submission finisher. After the match Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi interpreted for Honda and called it an easy win. He also according to Hiroshi called everybody in BASARA wimps because there are no other immediate challengers for MJ2 to fight.

Gouma Ryu was feeling motivated to fight as if he was the main character today so he ordered the rest of WizRYU away so he could fight Takato Nakano on his own. He then bribed the ref with 10,000 yen to get calls and pin counts in his favour. At one point Nakano sent Ryu to sleep with a Sleeper Hold so the referee forced him to let it go. However despite the favortism, Nakano was able to beat Ryu clean.

Super Japan Continues, Is Hiroshi Too Scary for Nakatsu?

Heads up but I will be travelling over the next few days to see some wrestling in London, which includes “FORBIDDEN DOOR”. However it is kind of a light weekend of shows within the DDT circle so there should not be any delay in getting results and writing a report for the Tokyo Princess Cup semi finals on Saturday. I might be able to at post results of tomorrow’s Baka Gaijin + Friends show in the Philippines too. If not then that will be saved for the next DDT Around The World article at the end of the month.

BASARA has a path set towards Halloween for their next big Union MAX Title match. Ryota Nakatsu says he isn’t scared of defending the title against anybody but Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi thinks the champion has been ducking him. Hiroshi has recently formed a quartet with Speed Of Sounds and Gouma Ryu called WizRYU but Ryu isn’t a guy you can rely on for an Elimination Match so Masato Kamino is taking part instead. Nakatsu is relying on Hyakusho Ikki and Takumi Tsukamoto to back him up in the meantime.

So there wasn’t actually plans for Super Japan to last past the first show but Sanshiro Takagi was happy enough with how the launch did to run another event under the name. Yuji Nagata is still his pick to be the ace and he’ll get a far more serious match this time because his opponent is Shinya Aoki! There is a little bit of history here because Aoki defeated Yuji’s brother Katsuhiko Nagata in the DREAM Middleweight Grand Prix back in 2008.

Takagi himself is confident he can make a full return to the ring by the end of the year. However he isn’t sure if he can make it back in time for November’s Sumo Hall show. He also is only currently cleared by his doctor to do light exercises. With that being said, Takagi wants to shake off some ring rust so he will take part in an Exhibition Match with his old tag team partner Munenori Sawa. The bout is only scheduled to have a five minute time limit but Sawa has told Takagi he wants the two of them to go as wild as they can and cause some trouble!

Nakatsu has successfully defended the MAX Title against Hiroshi one time before back in February 2022. That was Hiroshi’s second time challenging for the belt. The other time was when it was revived to be used as BASARA’s top championship all the way back on Christmas Day of 2016.

1. Takumi Tsukamoto defeated Takeru Inoue with the Brainbuster Slam (10:14).
2. Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi, Tsutomu Oosugi & Banana Senga (w/ Gouma Ryu) defeated Takato Nakano, Masato Kamino & Lil’ Kraken when Hiroshi pinned Kraken with the Perfect Plex (12:04).
3. SAGAT Vs Ayumu Honda ended in a Double Countout (15:03).
4. FUMA & Ryuichi Sekine defeated Fuminori Abe & Daiki Shimomura when Sekine submitted Shimomura with the Let’s Combine (10:02).
5. Union MAX Title: Ryota Nakatsu (c) defeated Daichi Kazato with a Forward Rolling Cradle (16:53).
*V3 for Ryota Nakatsu.

Out of all the times Ryota Nakatsu had a championship match, this one was probably the most unusual. Daichi Kazato brought along several long rubber straps to either use as weapons against Nakatsu or as something to slingshot himself at Nakatsu. The straps limited the Union MAX Champion from using a lot of his regular moveset but when they were eventually taken out of the picture, he countered a roll up from Kazato into one of his own to win the match. Nakatsu asked the fans after the match if they noticed he couldn’t do any Zero Fighter Kicks, German Suplexes or V Sliders because of Kazato’s plan. They still had an exciting match though and he called Kazato the craziest guy.

With today’s victory Nakatsu said he now has nothing to fear when it comes to defending the MAX Title. Suddenly Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi’s music played and Hiroshi was carried down to the ring by his fellow WizRYU members Gouma Ryu and Speed Of Sounds. He said he knows Nakatsu all too well and asked if he was scared of him? He knows the last person Nakatsu wants to be challenged by is “Mr. Perfect” Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi! The champ admits Hiroshi can be scary but he isn’t afraid of him so he accepts the challenge. Hiroshi then tried to attack him but Kazato suddenly came to Nakatsu’s rescue! Nakatsu appreciated it so much that he decided he and Kazato should team up together. Backstage Hiroshi announced his MAX Title challenge will happen on 31st October.

Isami Kodaka missed the show due to illness. He was replaced by Fuminori Abe in Match #4.

Match #3 ended in a Double Countout after SAGAT lost his temper and threw Ayumu Honda into the audience. He then purposely prevented Honda from making it back to the ring. As soon as the match ended, SAGAT demanded an Iron Fist Tag Team Titles shot with Minoru Fujita as his partner because the Super Family are fed up with Honda and Kengo Mashimo. Hiroshi on Honda’s behalf accepted the challenge and said the match will happen on 17th September. He thinks Mashimo will be available on that date.

They bonded over a year’s supply of tequila given to Desperado by the match sponsor so it was only a matter of time before they got to team up. One of their opponents is Shuji Ishikawa, formerly “The Big Dog” for Sasaki when the original DAMNATION was formed. He will be teaming with Antonio Honda.

Also booked for the show are the rest of DAMNATION T.A plus a few others. They are Dick Togo, Minoru Fujita, Hideki Okatani, Ilusion, MJ Paul and Diego.

Isami Kodaka came up with an idea to do a one match independent show away from BASARA to celebrate the 23rd anniversary of his debut. He fought Ayato Yoshida from 2AW and they both decided to put their hoodies on the line so there would be a prize to fight for. Minoru Fujita was at ringside for the match and even got involved in the ring at points. But Yoshida ended up getting the clean win and possession of Kodaka’s ATDK hoodie.

3. SAGAT & Minoru Fujita defeated Daichi Kazato & Munetatsu Nakamura when SAGAT pinned Kazato with the Gore Grind (10:56).
4. Masato Kamino, Lil’ Kraken & Fuminori Abe defeated Ryuichi Sekine, FUMA & Ayumu Honda when Kraken pinned Sekine with the Period. (13:41).
5. Isami Kodaka & Ryota Nakatsu defeated Takumi Tsukamoto & Takato Nakano when Nakatsu pinned Nakano with the V Slider (14:13).

During the main event Takumi Tsukamoto taunted Ryota Nakatsu in a bid to provoke the Union MAX Champion. But his attempt to hive him the Zudon was stopped by Isami Kodaka and Nakatsu went on to beat Takato Nakano with the V Slider. After the match Nakatsu told Takeru Inoue to hand him over an envelope because inside it was the name of his next MAX Title challenger. He then crumpled up the envelope and decided Tsukamoto will face him for the title at Korakuen Hall on 3rd August! The two of them are now the highest ranked management in BASARA so Nakatsu thinks the promotion’s biggest match of the year should be between those two. Tsukamoto said he will do his best to win the title and write BASARA’s next page.

It turns out Ayumu Honda really didn’t want to join forces with Hyakusho Ikki. He betrayed Ryuichi Sekine & FUMA and helped Lil’ Kraken with the match for the other team. Honda whispered into Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi’s ear after the match and had him interpret his message. Hiroshi told Hyakusho Ikki that Honda would never join a lame team like them. He only went near them because he wants the Iron Fist Tag Team Titles. He already has a partner ready and he’s at the show today. Suddenly out walked Kengo Mashimo and he started fighting Hyakusho Ikki with Honda that made its way to the back! Later when things calmed down FUMA said Honda had made fun of farmers. Sekine warns that when you make fun of farmers you will see hell! They’re going to fight Honda & Mashimo fair and square with the Iron Fist Tag Titles on the line.

After Match #3 several wrestlers all got in the ring trying to figure out what match they should have on 3rd August. Daichi Kazato completely lost track of who he wanted to team with so Gouma Ryu suggested they do a 3 Way Trios Match. Ryu himself isn’t going to wrestle. Instead he wants to be in the corner of Speed Of Sounds & Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi. Kazato decided he will team with Yasu Urano and a third person. Both Minoru Fujita & SAGAT agreed to team with each other and go find another partner. Later in the day Hiroshi, Ryu & SOS all decided to form a new unit called with-kai.

Last November Daisuke Sasaki held the first “CHARISMANIA” and fought Dick Togo in a tag team main event. Sasaki won the match but Togo was not involved in the fall so Sasaki challenged him to a singles match. Togo promised to do it once he turned 60 years old but Sasaki convinced him to do it a lot sooner. At the time Sasaki wanted the match to happen in November for his 40th birthday but even that turned out to be too long a wait. “CHARISMANIA II” was booked for June and the match needed to happen there. After receiving bouquets from members of the rock band HEAD PHONES PRESIDENT, Sasaki and Togo battled it out for almost 25 minutes. There was a little bit of everything involved ending with Togo getting the upper hand. He escaped from La Mistica Crossface Lock, gave Sasaki the Pedigree and followed up with the Diving Senton. Sasaki kicked out of it and got back to his feet but was pretty much a dead man standing. Togo knocked him down with a Knuckle Punch and pinned him clean for the three count.

Sasaki said after the match it wasn’t supposed to be like this but everyone could see he was completely defeated by his master. He asked Togo to give him another match in five years time and then he’ll be able to finally surpass him. Togo said that is too early so he will give him ten. He’ll be older then but so will Sasaki. Togo also promised he will never stop evolving. Sasaki needs to remember that. When he left Sasaki then revealed he was going to announce his 20th Anniversary show happening at Korakuen Hall on 2nd October is he had won today. He announced it anyway. The show will also feature a live concert by HEAD PHONES PRESIDENT. He promised there will be a lot of big names involved. He gave out hints like X, Y, Z, Alpha, Beta, Omega and so on.

Hideki Okatani’s return to hardcore wrestling saw him face Isami Kodaka in a car crash of a match featuring chairs, ladders, trash cans and tables. Kodaka laid a ladder on top of Okatani and did the Diving Double Knee Drop with chairs onto it. He then gave Okatani a Brainbuster onto an open chair. Okatani kicked out of the pin but was down and out after taking the Isamiashi Zan. Kodaka said it was a Hardcore Match the likes of which he hadn’t experienced before. He came out of the match with blood flowing from his chin so he’ll have to get revenge on Okatani for that somewhere down the line. Okatani said he had so much fun doing this kind of match again despite losing. If Kodaka is offering him a rematch then he will take it just to taste his blood again!

So Daimonji showed some power by being able to carry MJ Paul & Minoru Fujita at the same time. Those two had to isolate Ryoma Tsukamoto in order to win the match.

A new member of The Brahman Brothers showed up, looking kind of familiar. Nobody could guess how dangerous Brahman Ueno could be so Mataro stepped up to him. He was quickly overpowered so needed the cops Takayuki Ueki & Akito to come save him. Mataro retreated only to return later dressed as a Dirty Cop! He injected himself with a syringe to the head and had the power to fight off everyone who stood in his way, freind or foe. He then stuck a piece of tuna to his head using wasabi and Ueki tried to force Ueno to eat it. When that didn’t work Mataro made Ueki & Akito form something like a Hell Gate in the corner. But The Brahmans blinded him with powder and threw him into the Hell Gate instead of Ueno. Mataro fainted after that an all three opponents pinned him to win.

Ilusion couldn’t tell who Sumicaras was under the plastic bag mask and had to ask him if he was Japanese? Sumicaras told him he doesn’t know in response. Their tag match ended when Sangre Azteca Jr. unmasked Pantera Jr. and Ilusion unmasked Sumicaras, revealing it was Kazuma Sumi all along. Azteca then gave Sumi a Low Blow and Ilusion rolled him up with a School Boy to get the win. The then ripped up the Sumicaras mask/bag to celebrate their victory.

The opening match was called off early when Naohiro Katsumi injured himself. He hit Yasu Urano with a Forearm Strike with his right arm and then grabbed his wrist in pain. Tomomitsu Matsunaga was the ref and he quickly called for the bell after checking on Katsumi, rewarding Urano with a TKO win.

4. Baseball-ken: Banana Senga & FUMA defeated Masato Kamino & Daiki Shimomura when Kamino stripped naked (11:11).
5. Prison Siege: Lil’ Kraken defeated Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi with the Kenobi-Style Cradle (6:28).

The first BASARA show held under new management pitted wrestlers who use martial arts to keep active against wrestlers who prefer to partake in other kinds of sports. This was set up when Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi and Takato Nakano had an argument about it on the previous show. Everyone on the martial arts team fought in karate outfits and other similar clothing. Meanwhile the sports team all wore different types of outfits from gym tracksuits to baseball kits to swimming togs.

Every match had different rules applied. The Prison Siege was a Lumberjack Match. The “Baseball-ken” rules were somehow about forcing wrestlers to take off one piece of clothing as a penalty until they were completely naked (the lights went out before Masato Kamino took off his g-string). The Jusenkyo Battle had Ryuichi Sekine and SAGAT behave like different people or animals every time they were knocked out of the ring. The Ultimate Rumble Battle had everyone enter the match one at a time Royal Rumble style before they could win. The Fateful Seven had Minoru Fujita and Takato Nakano racing to get seven pin counts in total but they both reached a count of six and pinned each other for the seventh count, ending the match in a draw. By the end of the show the two sides were tied at two wins a piece so a 16-Man Tag Team match was held to determine a winner.

During the show Takeru Inoue announced his comeback match from injury will happen on 25th June.

Yesterday Super Sasadango Machine gave an impassioned PowerPoint Presentation to explain the history behind this DDT Vs New Japan one match show. He and Toru Yano have both taken past interactions between the two promotions personally and want to settle things their own way. There will be several wrestlers from both companies getting involved one way or another. Antonio Honda and YOH will be the special support ambassadors at ringside. MAO and El Desperado will both be there for special separate autograph sessions. Kazuma Sumi and Daiki Nagai will be working young boy duties. Yukinori Matsui and Kenta Sato have been appointed as the two referees. Also Inoue Mic and Makoto Abe will be the two ring announcers.

Tyson Maeguchi is living up to his promise of becoming “Ultimate” whenever he will fight with his gloves on. Why else would he be teaming with Thanomsak Toba again?

Poison Sawada JULIE will be at the show to unveil the new Iron Man Heavymetalweight Championship belt. The second generation belt will continue the long, long, long lineage of the title. JULIE is currently the 1,471st champion as of this post.

Later this month Hyper Misao will be back from injury and just in time too because Kyoraku Kyomei now have their next Princess Tag Team Titles defence on the horizon. Last year when Miu Watanabe and Rika Tatsumi had their match for the Princess Of Princess Title, Tatsumi afterwards said Daydream were done teaming together because she believed Watanabe no longer needed her. Watanabe didn’t agree with that and the team was left in limbo for almost a year. Yesterday the two reunited and denied any claims that Daydream had disbanded. They are as united as ever and will prove it by going after the Princess Tag Titles again.

Will it be third time’s the charm for Moka Miyamoto. She has challenged for the International Princess Title twice and lost both times to Miu Watanabe and Yuki Arai. She is giving it another go now that Suzume is the champion and she has a recent pinfall over her that qualifies her for a rightful title shot.

1. Takumi Tsukamoto & Banana Senga defeated Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi & Fuminori Abe when Tsukamoto pinned Hiroshi with the Osotogari (7:16).
2. 3 Way Match: Tsutomu Oosugi defeated Daichi Kazato and Daiki Shimomura when Oosugi pinned Kazato with the Tsuki no Ishi (7:57).
3. Lil’ Kraken & Akira Jo defeated SAGAT & Isami Kodaka when Kraken pinned SAGAT with the Period. (12:42).
4. Ryota Nakatsu defeated Munetatsu Nakamura with the V Slider (15:56).
5. Ryuichi Sekine, FUMA & Ayumu Honda defeated Isami Kodaka, Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino when Sekine submitted Nakano with the Let’s Combine (17:44).

The winners of the main event Hyakusho Ikki made an offer to Ayumu Honda to join their team, thinking his addition will make them even better. Honda didn’t want to but was afraid to turn them down directly so he whispered his decision into Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi’s ear and asked him to tell them. Hiroshi lied to Ryuichi Sekine & FUMA, telling them that Honda loves the idea and wants to join the team! Suddenly Lil’ Kraken walked down to the ring leading a train of Akira Jo, SAGAT and Minoru Fujita lined up behind him. Kraken heard Hyakusho Ikki call themselves the best team but he has his own family, a Super Family if you will, which is even better. The four of them created a strong bond together in their tag match today (a lot of the match was the two teams both struggling to get along) and they would all like to challenge for the Iron Fist Tag Team Titles as one unit. They were convinced to whittle their team down to just Kraken & Jo in order to get the title match. Jo then told Kraken they will need to coodernate by wearing the same colours on the day. He suggests red and wasn’t going to argue any further because he has to bring his daughter to see Lilo & Stitch once this show was over. FUMA agreed to have the title match on 25th June.

After beating Munetatsu Nakamura in a BASARA Vs Ganbare☆Pro battle, Ryota Nakatsu continues to be on the lookout for his next Union Pro Title challenger. Nakatsu taunted Nakamura throughout the match and even pulled back his hand when he offered his a handshake after the bout. He praised Nakamura for being an amazing young wrestler and said a guy like him would be a great choice to be his next challenger. So he wants Nakamura to help him find his actual next challenger.

During the show opening introductions an argument broke out between Hiroshi and Takato Nakano. Hiroshi claimed martial arts is the best while Nakano threw his support behind sports instead. The solution to this is to have the 15th June show be dedicated to pitting Team Martial Arts against Team Sports!
