Looks like I now have to start talking about MONDAY MAGIC a bit more often. This thing started off in 2023 as an idea by NOSAWA Rongai to host live weekly NOAH shows on ABEMA built around mystery lineups and surprise matches. After the debut season, the series was then added to Wrestle Universe and last year it was quietly spun off into becoming its own brand, although it is still NOAH adjacent. I personally like the idea of treating Monday Magic as its own thing but you’d still be right to label it a NOAH show.

During the most recent season titled “RISING SUN”, it was announced that two upcoming spin-off episodes called “UNIVERSE MAGIC” will host the first ever Universe Cup tournament. It will be an eight man tournament featuring a representative from many different wrestling promotions that can be seen on Wrestle Universe. The wrestlers taking part are:

Alright I get to talk about the new Hayabusa! Actually Bahu did a great job explaining the whole situation with him and ZERO1 recently so I recommend you give his video a watch. The inclusion of ZERO1 to this tournament comes from their repaired relationship with NOAH after the Go Shiozaki fiasco (I knew something was up with him a while back) and that led to Hayabusa recently appearing on Monday Magic so his addition has not come out of nowhere.

One of NOSAWA’s running jokes in Monday Magic is to often book one of the wrestlers to disguise themselves as Great Mummy, a throwback to the mummy gimmicks that were a regular presence around Japan’s sleazier indies decades ago. It’s only fitting that Sanshiro Takagi was chosen to be Great Mummy’s opponent in the first round.

The match announcement video included an image of a playoff bracket that makes it look like the winners of Matches #1 and #3 will meet in one semi final and the winners of Matches #2 and #4 will face off in the other. However I’m feeling suspicious about something. To put it kindly, NOSAWA is a trickster at heart. Don’t be surprised if he suddenly throws in a swerve or two that could completely change the face of the Universe Cup going into the final rounds.

The last matchdays for the D GENERATIONS CUP have several wrestlers still in the running to reach the final. In the A Block Kazuma Sumi just needs to win his match to win the group. Daichi Sato can get there if he wins and Sumi doesn’t. To-y and Yuki Ishida both need to win and even then that will result in a sudden death playoff between the two because they tied against each other earlier in the tournament.

However Rukiya can match the total score in that scenario if he beats Hinata Kasai which will then result in a three way tie where Koroku beat Rukiya, Rukiya beat Masada and Masada beat Koroku.

There are currently four requests he has given people. Shino Suzuki is tasked with challenging influencers with over 100,000 followers to games of rock paper scissors until she beats three of them. The GM Tetsuya Koda was told to go find a big guest famous enough to sell out Sumo Hall and get them to make their pro wrestling debut. The mascot Minimo-chan was told to master its special moves through intensive training. Finally Sanshiro Takagi was instructed to scout a new idol to turn into a pro wrestler.

The Tokyo Joshi Pro lineup has already been announced for the show. Now BASARA has followed up with their cast of wrestlers who will show up alongside Ryuichi Sekine. Joining him will be Takumi Tsukamoto, FUMA, Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi, Ryota Nakatsu, Takato Nakano, Takeru Inoue and Yasu Urano. Three of the matches will be from TJPW and three will be from BASARA.

So far any concerns on if The Apex will get along with Strange Love Connection can be put to rest. Yukio Naya got along with MAO & KANON, even taking some instructions from them to set up their teamwork. The other story of the match was KANON locking horns with Yuki Ueno. When their exchange ended without a clear winner, MAO and Shinya Aoki took over. KANON got back into the swing of things getting into a Lariat clash with Tomomitsu Matsunaga. In the end, KANON’s Lariat was stronger and he got to win the match with the move. After the match KANON talked about his first few months with DDT where he joined DAMNATION T.A and became really cocky. He changed his tune when Ueno gave him his first loss in the company and over the last four years he’s been wanting to beat Ueno ever since. Ueno lost his temper and told KANON to stop lying. KANON then said Ueno knows nothing about him so he’s going to fill up Ueno’s head until he thinks about nothing else but KANON!

A freak accident at the start of the 3 Way trios match led to the uncommon sight of blood in a DDT ring. As Daisuke Sasaki took off his jacket, he whipped it right into the side of Antonio Honda’s head as part of a DAMNATION T.A ambush. The studs on the jacket must have caused some deep scratches because when Honda reappeared in the ring a few minutes later the side of his head had large bloodstains that were clear for everyone to see. The other members of FANTÔMES DRAMATIC bandaged him up with a towel while he was setting up his Gongitsune speech.

Hisaya Imabayashi had sold 50 tickets of the show to some of his acquaintances in the theater business so he asked Danshoku Dieno to instantly beat Kazuki Hirata so he could get angry at them and impress his colleagues. Hirata however didn’t want to lose and wouldn’t lay down so for once he wasn’t actually pinned for the three count immediately. Imabayashi stopped the match anyway to complain about not being able to complain. Hirata convinced him that if he wanted to look cool, he should join the match and make it 3 Vs 2! The GM agreed, siding with Hirata & Toru Owashi to face Dieno & Jun Akiyama for the restart. He immediately lost his courage but finally entered the match to give Dieno an STO. When Akiyama tagged in, Imabayashi psyched himself to give him some Elbow Strikes and a few Stunners. He wasn’t strong enough to give Akiyama an STO so Akiyama gave him a Headbutt and Running Knee Strike instead. Imabayashi kicked out of the pin so Akiyama decided to set up the Exploder Suplex. That caused Imabayashi to instantly give up out of fear.

Over at the D GENERATIONS CUP the two blocks are heading towards the finish line. Kazuma Sumi showed he is still in the race by beating Daichi Sato in the main event. He tried to School Boy him a bunch during the middle of the match but then resorted to using a Rolling Elbow and a High Kick. Those moves left Sato stunned for long enough to make the School Boy and effective way to beat him. Sumi wants to reach the final because his goal for the year is to win the DGC, then win the DDT Universal Title and after that win King Of DDT! Meanwhile To-y suffered a setback by losing to Ilusion, giving the masked heel a victory in his final match of the tournament. When chairshots didn’t have the intended effect, Ilusion used a ref bump to give To-y a Low Blow. He then wrapped some of the KO-D 10-Man Tag Team Title belts around his body and landed a Coffin Drop onto To-y for extra damage. With that done, Ilusion then got the win by doing the Swanton Bomb without the belts.

The B Block might end up with Yuya Koroku going through as the clear winner of all of his matches. He is now three for three after beating Hinata Kasai. He wants to achieve a perfect record in order to push the limit and raise the level of D GENERATIONS even higher. If that happens, Koroku thinks that may be what it takes to get DDT to the Tokyo Dome. He’s not in the clear yet though. Takeshi Masada ended any hope Yuni has of reaching the final in the B Block to keep himself in the chase. Masada is now in the position to beat Koroku to win the block and he thinks that will be easy to do even when he is all by himself.

The Super Family are hitting some sort of rough patch after failing to win the Iron Fist Tag Team Titles on the last show. Lil’ Kraken wonders if they should split up but SAGAT still wants to team with him. After taking a day to think about it, the decision was made to have the two face each other in a singles bout. Is this just something to get their frustrations out or will it be a (super) family rift that cannot be healed?

Yuki Ishida from DDT makes another appearance here. He’ll take on BASARA’s young prospect Takeru Inoue in the opener.

It’s new territory for the Max Heart Tournament because the current Princess Tag Team Champions have reached the final for the first time. Ober Eats are now just one win away from winning the whole thing and living up to the votes they got for the Best Tag Team category in the recent Tokyo Sports Awards. Meanwhile Mizuki & Uta Takami are on something of a miracle run as a tag team, although they want to prove they deserve to be here through hard work and well earned success instead of luck and good fortune.

There’s an alternate timeline where Daydream and Kyoto Tag could have been a semi final match in the tournament. Instead they’re facing each other on the undercard to help build up March’s Princess Of Princess Title match between Miu Watanabe and Yuki Arai.

Opponents have now become tag partners. Shoko Nakajima liked wrestling Sara Phoenix so much she wants to team with her. They may end up being a bounce back team for Daisy Monkey though.

A first win awaits for either Ren Konatsu or Shion Kanzaki.

The show Ryuichi Sekine and Nodoka Tenma are putting together will consist of six matches, three from Tokyo Joshi Pro and three from BASARA. The TJPW roster taking part will be Mizuki, Shoko Nakajima, Rika Tatsumi, Hyper Misao, Yuki Aino, Mahiro Kiryu, Arisu Endo, Haru Kazashiro, Mifu Ashida, Kira Summer and Chika Nanase. Also Aja Kong will be part of the show as a special guest.

The last time Shuji Ishikawa and FUMA fought each other for the Union MAX Title was way back in April 2015. Over ten years later they went through with the rematch. This time it was Ishikawa who won and he even kicked out of the Jawbreaker kick. FUMA kicked out of the Kamigoye and the Splash Mountain so Ishikawa needed to use the Giant Slam to finally put him away. Ishikawa thanked FUMA after the match because it made him push himself further to become even stronger. He then invited all of the BASARA wrestlers out to talk about the company’s 10th Anniversary. Union Pro closed down on its 10th Anniversary but Ishikawa is confident BASARA will continue on to reach its 15th and even 20th anniversaries. As long as he holds a championship with Union’s name on it he will consider BASARA like it is home but he will still be a stubborn champion for everyone here to try and beat. He exited the ring and left the rest of the locker room to end the show by celebrating BASARA’s happy occasion.

Takumi Tsukamoto & Daiki Shimomura overcame the Super Family to remain the Iron Fist Tag Team Champions. They praised the challengers for having better teamwork than their own and are now waiting to see who they will defend the titles against next. Shimomura will be celebrating his own 10th Anniversary in March but he wants to have a title defence before then. SAGAT asked Lil’ Kraken backstage if they are going to split up because that was the plan if they lost without showing any growth. He would like them to continue teaming together and Kraken told him he will spend the night thinking about it.

After a three month hiatus to deal with a neck injury, Isami Kodaka returned to action today. Despite losing the match he is happy his comeback happened safely and he is excited to see what BASARA will be like after reaching the ten year milestone.

At the start of the show Ryuichi Sekine promoted the next Gaisen Sakura Pro Wrestling show taking place in Okayama on 11th April.

And now there are only two teams left. The Max Heart Tournament semi finals cut down two accomplished tag teams today, one of them being former winners and the other being last year’s finalists. Ober Eats however have become the first reigning Princess Tag Team Champions to make it to the last round by eliminated Pompaler in today’s main event. Max The Impaler was almost unstoppable by themselves but things went south when Pompaler missed the Laforet Harajuku Cannonball into the corner. Wakana Uehara got in some extra damage by giving Max the Sushi Tornado while Yuki Kamifuku got the pin on Pom Harajuku with the Diving Famouser. It was a redeeming victory for Ober Eats because they lost to Pompaler at last year’s semi final which was also held in Shinjuku FACE. Harajuku really wanted to win this year but she thinks her bond with Max has deepened even further and they have become more super best friends than ever! Although she would like it if Max would stop throwing her.

Is history repeating itself with Mizuki? She was once thrown into a tag team with Yuka Sakazaki for a tournament and they ended up winning it to start a long road of dominating Tokyo Joshi Pro’s tag team division. Are we starting to see the same thing with Mizuki & Uta Takami because they just beat Daisy Monkey to reach the Max Heart final! Suzume & Arisu Endo had things going well for them until Mizuki found a way to use Endo as a launchpad to Double Stomp Suzuki between the ropes in the corner. Takami came in with the assist to help Mizuki use the Cutie Special on Endo twice for the finish. Daisy Monkey took it as a lesson that they still have room to improve. It excites them to learn that there are even stronger teams out there. Mizuki admits she is surprised with her team’s success and credits Takami’s hard work for pulling her along. She thinks they are like opposites which is why they haven’t even come up with a team name yet. Takami thinks they both have the same heart though and that is what has made them a strong pair so far.

The final is now set for 14th February in Korakuen Hall. The two teams spoke to each other face to face in the ring at the end of the show. Kamifuku expected Mizuki to make it this far and she is happy to face her in Korakuen again because Mizuki was part of Kamifuku’s debut match that was held in the same venue. Uehara is even getting a little annoyed at how cool headed both Mizuki & Takami are this late into the tournament. Takami said her team has been working so hard that she can see a future where they can win the final. Mizuki agreed that it is not some miracle that brought them this far and if they can beat Ober Eats in the final she is sure they can win the Princess Tag Titles from them too! Kamifuku closed out the show talking about how she prefers not to show her emotions but the final will be an emotional experience that you won’t find with AI.

MIRAI and Toga met twice in the ring today, once for a contract signing and then later again for a tag match. Toga explained she made the challenge for the International Princess Title to show her growth as a singles wrestler. She’s been studying MIRAI and expects that MIRAI has been studying her too. Even so, she warns that MIRAI is going to see a side of Toga she hasn’t seen before. MIRAI introduced herself as the embodiment of Michinoku Pro’s mutsu spirit. She admitted she has been watching Toga’s matches on Wrestle Universe and is impressed with how cool she is. She has noticed how explosive Toga’s signature moves are and she can turn the tables with just one hit. However MIRAI is confident she can win and go on to defend the IP Title at Sumo Hall. She then apologised to Tetsuya Koda for putting the idea out there without asking him first. MIRAI would then go on to win a tag match with Sara Phoenix against Toga & Chika Nanase. She said Toga’s strikes were as painful as she expected but it was herself who had the most energy today to win. Toga said she saw firsthand just how calculated MIRAI’s moves are while wrestling her so she now needs to figure that out herself.

It was time for a meeting between the ToJo Tokusatsu Club. Not only did Shoko Nakajima, Yuki Aino & Haru Kazashiro enter the ring armed with a D-Sword Vega and some SP Licences, they also tried to form themselves into one large mecha with Nakajima on top of Aino and Kazashiro having to carry everything as the base. She couldn’t do it so Mifu Ashida got Yuki Arai & Kira Summer to all cheer together for her. Kazashiro went through with trying and naturally everyone all collapsed. The Tokusatsu Club recovered to win the match and start thinking of a new goal together. They all want to liven up “GRAND PRINCESS ’26” in their own way this March and show children that pro wrestling can make dreams come true. So they want to invite some Super Sentai heroes to Sumo Hall where they can all fight together!

The last time Hyper Misao and Shino Suzuki had a match against each other, Misao came up with rules that were built around a trivia quiz so she could cheer herself up at the time. She reflected back on that match today and admitted she was immature back then. In other to self-reflect before her big tag match at Sumo Hall this March, Misao wanted to come up with rules based on something Suzuki likes. Misao knows that Suzuki is good at double jumps so she brought along a jump rope and suggested one of them would need to do 10 double jumps every time there is a kickout. Suzuki wouldn’t agree and demanded the rule be she only needs to pin Misao for a Two Count in order to win while Misao still needs to get a 3 Count. Both rules were agreed to and the nearfalls got to the point where both of them had to do double jumps at the same time to continue the match until Misao pinned Suzuki with La Magistral Cradle.

It was announced that Mifu Ashida, Miyu Yamashita and Suzume will all have homecoming shows taking place later this year. Ashida’s show will be held in Fukuchiyama on 4th April, Yamashita’s show in Fukuoka is scheduled for 5th April and Suzume’s show in Tsukuba is set for 6th May.

Also does the existence of Shin Konosuke Takeshita mean there now also exists a Shin Kyle Fletcher?

One month into FANTÔMES DRAMATIC and Hinata Kasai is disappointed he hasn’t been able to team with the other members so far since joining. He might have to wait even longer because one of his upcoming matches is a singles bout with Shinya Aoki.

The grand plan to create a DDT Triple Crown didn’t work out for Daisuke Sasaki but he is now a double champion. His first defence for the DDT Universal Title hasn’t been decided yet but if it was up to him it would be against Ueno. Instead he has to go defend the O-40 Title in a 4 Way Match against HARASHIMA, Danshoku Dieno and Tomomitsu Matsunaga. Given what pro wrestling is like nowadays I doubt this is the oldest lineup a 4 Way Match has ever had.

Chris Brookes was feeling down over his recent championship defeats but a brand new opponent emerging in Baka Gaijin + Friends has cheered him up. Yuta Oya is from Sportiva Entertainment and only debuted in July 2024 which made headlines because he is blind. He had cancer as a child that resulted in his right eye being removed and radiation therapy being needed to save his left eye. He had taken up judo in school and wanted to become a pro wrestler but had to give up that dream when he eventually lost sight in his left eye and became fully blind. He was then diagnosed with bladder cancer in his early 30s which made him want to become a pro wrestler to teach his son you need the determination to never give up while pursuing what you love.

Also making their Baka Gaijin debut next month is Miyu Yamashita! She has teamed up with Antonio Honda before, the most important time being the match against Kenny Omega & Riho at “ULTIMATE PARTY 2019”. This will be the first time Yamashita and Honda will be opponents.

The DDT 29th Anniversary main event has been set. Yuki Ueno defends the KO-D Openweight Title against KANON in a match that has more history behind it than it looks on the surface. When KANON joined DDT in 2022 his first loss in the company was to Ueno in that year’s King Of DDT tournament. KANON wants to get revenge on that loss while also taking the company’s top prize as somebody who has grown to love DDT. Ueno remembers that match and he also remembers all of the times KANON tried to hurt him as a member of DAMNATION T.A. Will the build up to this match result in fresh bad blood between them or will cooler heads prevail to focus on the big prize?

Meanwhile Kazuki Hirata is getting the biggest opponent DDT can throw at him and he doesn’t like it. Can he pull off an even bigger miracle than winning the KO-D Title last year by beating Konosuke Takeshita all by himself? I mean if Yota Tsuji can do it then Hirata certainly can. Right?

Look, even Super Sasadango Machine is surprised that the mystery team isn’t Shingo Takagi & Natsupoi. Instead Sasadango is being dragged into the match by Hyper Misao because she thinks a pairing as incomprehensible as them is what it will take to beat Yuka Sakazaki & Takeshita. There’s going to be some changes in DDT if Daisuke Sasaki gets his way and wins more championships. He currently holds the O-40 Title and wants to create a DDT Triple Crown by winning both the KO-D Openweight Title and DDT Universal Title. Then he won’t have to defend the belts against anyone under the age of forty and DDT will start to resemble the final years of WCW. Sasaki is fond of that period because the shows would always end with interferences and he was also looked up to Scott Hall for being an alcoholic. Sasaki admits he always finds negative things to be cool. Should Sasaki achieve the “Triple Crown” and only fights other wrestlers over forty, he theorizes that he will then have the likes of Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar as potential challengers because right now DDT hasn’t been lining up opponents for his O-40 Title. WWE hasn’t responded to his requests though. Sasaki also doesn’t like how Yuki Ueno and Chris Brookes are drawing in bigger audiences of young women to the shows. He would prefer the audience to be full of older men who look like Tetsu Inada.

Stage actress Yuzuki Hoshimoto will be in attendance to second the Strange Love Connection in the KO-D Tag Team Titles match. She previously appeared in DDT with the team at last November’s Korakuen Hall show.

The big draw of the show has gone down! Kaisei Takechi has been pulled from the show because he currently has an infectious case of pink eye. He will now be replaced by To-y in the big tag match also featuring HARASHIMA, Konosuke Takeshita and Jun Akiyama. That also means To-y has been plucked out of the 10-Man Tag Match. Ryoma Tsukamoto has been called in to take his place in that bout.

More details on Munetatsu Nakamura’s neck injury have come to light. He has been diagnosed with a herniated cervical disc and will not return to action until 7th March at the earliest. Even then that could be delayed if he does not get cleared by his doctor.

History will repeat itself with Sanshiro Takagi’s alternate history spin off. At the end of 2025 he felt the time was right to end the Super Japan project because thr year long celebration of his 30th Anniversary in wrestling had been completed. However his appointed ace of the promotion Yuji Nagata revealed that he had Shinjuku FACE booked for 24th March for a show of his own and decided that it should go to Super Japan instead so it could either continue or at least give everyone a proper farewell. Taking a page out of DDT’s beginning all the way back in 1997, Takagi decided that this upcoming show in March will end with a fan vote on whether or not Super Japan should continue. “JUDGEMENT” was the name of that very first DDT show in ’97 so it is only fitting for the name to be used here as well. Now we have to see if history will repeat itself.

The first match announced is an intriguing pro wrestling match between MMA backgrounds. Shinya Aoki faces Kazunari Murakami, the man with perhaps the most surliest face you will ever see in pro wrestling. He tends to be a snappy dresser too.

Names currently scheduled for the show include Yuji Nagata, Sanshiro Takagi, Kuroshio TOKYO Japan, Fuminori Abe and Munenori Sawa.
