5. Mei Suruga & Suzume defeated Riho & Arisu Endo when Suzume pinned Endo with the Ring A Bell (14:21).
6. International Princess Title: Alex Windsor defeated Maki Itoh (c) with the GTF (13:22).

7. Special Single Match: Miyu Yamashita defeated Thunder Rosa with a Cradle (13:39).
8. Princess Tag Team Titles: Saki Akai & Yuki Arai defeated Yuka Sakazaki & Mizuki (c) when Akai pinned Mizuki after the Double Rookie Awards (24:28).
*The Magical Sugar Rabbits fail in V6. Reiwa AA Cannon become the 10th Princess Tag Team Champions!
9. Princess Of Princess Title: Shoko Nakajima (c) defeated Rika Tatsumi with the Diving Senton (19:23).
*V4 for Shoko Nakajima.

Not even a White Dragon going crazy can stop the Big Kaiju right now. In front of over a thousand fans allowed to cheer, Shoko Nakajima defeated Rika Tatsumi to defend the Princess Of Princess Title. Tatsumi promised to be more determined than ever to win and proved it by doing the Missile Hip from the top rope to Nakajima outside the ring. However her attempt to lean back with the Dragon Sleeper for leverage backfired when Nakajima rolled out to free herself from the move. The champion turned the tables from there, used a Double Arm DDT and pinned Tatsumi with the Diving Senton. She called her opponent strong after the match and looks forward to meeting her down the road again. Nakajima then thanked the fans for their cheers because it gives the wrestlers more energy than we think. She praised the roster for being great and wants Tokyo Joshi Pro to grow even more. While Tatsumi is upset over losing, she feels strange because it hasn’t broken her heart. Instead it made her love pro wrestling again.

The supernova rise of Yuki Arai continues with the “genius girl” winning her first championship in TJPW! Her team with Saki Akai was the force that finally broke The Magical Sugar Rabbits and ended their Princess Tag Team Titles reign. At first Arai looked to be out of her depth against the champions but once she got to show off her teamwork with Akai it turned out they had MagiRabi well scouted. Together they blocked one of the Toy Story double team attacks and Arai threw Mizuki off the top rope with the Full Nelson Buster. Akai was also too tall for Yuka Sakazaki to give the Magical Merry-Go-Round to. Mizuki tried to intervene until she was struck in the back of the head with Arai’s Finally kick. Arai went for the move a second time and Sakazaki took the bullet after pushing Mizuki out of harm’s way. Reiwa AA Cannon then took inspiration from the one achievement they both share by performing a Double Rookie Award to Mizuki. Akai then pinned Mizuki for the title change while Arai held Sakazaki back.

Akai admits that they wouldn’t have been able to beat MagiRabi 99 times out of 100. It was Arai’s luck that made today the 1 time they were going to win. Akai thought she was going to be leading the team but her tag partner supported her more than she realised. Now they have the Princess Tag Titles there will be many teams chasing after them. Akai tells Arai this is the hard part because they now have to run further ahead of everyone else. Arai said she feels the weight of carrying the title belt because she is also carrying the history of the previous champions. She wants to be somebody who won’t be ashamed of holding this title. She also can’t wait to show the belt to all the fans of SKE48.

In the days leading up to the show, Thunder Rosa sent a message to TJPW saying if Miyu Yamashita could beat her today then she will give her a AEW Women’s Title shot back in America. The new stakes added more to Rosa’s anticipated return to TJPW for the first time in two and a half years. Yamashita hit the Skull Kick but she couldn’t get the three count with a rope break. She then went for the Attitude Adjustment but Rosa countered it into a Cradle. Yamashita suddenly reversed the Cradle and got a three count out of nowhere to win the match! Rosa said she now knows what to do because she isn’t going to let the AEW Women’s Title be taken away from her like the International Princess Title was. Whenever Yamashita is back in America, she knows where to find Rosa to get her title match. Yamashita said having the home field advantage was why she won today. She would like to have the rematch against Rosa in America but wants to fight that match for herself, not as a representative for TJPW.

England’s Alex Windsor had some bad luck travelling to Japan because she lost her gear and luggage on the way over. However she must be all smiles after today because she beat Maki Itoh to become the new International Princess Champion! Itoh fought big by using an Avalanche DDT but missed the Flying Big Head. Windsor fought back with her own big moves by using a Liger Bomb and another Power Bomb as a counter. She then put Itoh away with a Modified Fisherman Buster called the GTF to win the title. Windsor says she is taking over the world and will take the IP Title where ever she wants to. Meanwhile a sad Itoh is left asking herself why is she always so weak? She has an overseas tour coming up in August so she knows she has to fight more different wrestlers from around the world. She is also upset she couldn’t live up to the expectations of the fans who could now cheer for her today.

The first match for MeiBee Surprise was a success for Mei Suruga & Suzume. They were paired against two opponents who are very close to them. Suruga and Riho have a lot of history together while Suzume regularly teams with Arisu Endo as Daisy Monkey. The match came down to Suzume against Endo. Suzume came out on top after hitting the Ring A Bell on her friend. Riho said she was excited to have the match because it was her first time wrestling in Japan for 9 months. Suzume described the match as a red string getting all tangled up because she has attachments to everyone involved. She also said she will continue fighting to surpass Suruga. You’d think Suruga would see that as a threat but she just laughed it off.

Previous opponents Hikaru Shida & Hikari Noa were now teaming together on today’s show. Together they brushed off Toyo Mates even when they attempted to fight fire with fire. Mahiro Kiryu stopped Noa from using a chair but then tried using the same chair on Shida. That was blocked and Shida pinned her with the Arawashi Driver. Yuki Kamifuku gave encouragement to Kiryu afterwards, telling her life goes by fast and can be over in the blink of an eye. They can become strong people who can take a beating together. Noa said she had a lot of time to think about her previous match with Shida. She enjoyed today’s match more than anything and was happy to use weapons with Shida again. Shida thinks she made a good start in her quest to wreck havoc in TJPW with her appearances so far. She doesn’t know who she will face next but is looking forward to coming back here.

It doesn’t matter if her opponent was changed on short notice. Somebody was going to get a Giant Swing from Miu Watanabe! That somebody happened to be Ryo Mizunami. Watanabe had to work hard for it though because her veteran opponent put her through the wringer with Chops, slams and Lariats. Mizunami gained the upper hand with a Spear and never let go of the momentum, finishing off Watanabe with the Hot Limit. She praised Watanabe, saying she was blown away by her opponent’s power. It doesn’t matter if she is an idol with less experience in the ring, when Watanabe enters through those ropes she is a pro wrestler! Mizunami also appreciated the warm reception she got from the TJPW fans. Watanabe also gave credit to the fans for pushing her on. Even when she was hurt, the fans calling her name made her want to do her best. She achieved her goal to give Mizunami the Giant Swing. Her ultimate goal is to do that to Aja Kong!

Speaking of Kong, she was happy to be back in TJPW. Yuki Aino & Pom Harajuku in particular were surprised to see Kong give Raku a big hug during their entrance all together. Hyper Misao also welcomed Kong back and was nice to her. But that was because Misao wanted to swap teams and be on Kong’s side instead of being her opponent. Misao later sprayed Kong’s face but its effects didn’t last long. Kong wiped out Nao Kakuta & Haruna Neko with a Double Lariat, giving Aino the space to beat Kaya Toribami with the Venus DDT. Misao later said she would like to fight Kong again. Her tag partners are not as enthusiastic over the idea.

The opening match was special for Moka Miyamoto and Juria Nagano because it was the first time they got to experience wrestling in front of a cheering crowd. Nagano used a new combination of kicks but still went back to the Brazilian Kick late in the match. Miyamoto eventually got her in the Rashomon to earn the submission victory. She was glad to win because she knows she would lose to Nagano in a Karate bout. But this is pro wrestling and Miyamoto is more experienced than her here.

There will be a collaboration between TJPW and Idolmaster Cinderella Girls. Two of the characters in the game Akane Hino & Yuko Hori will receive costumes based on the ring gear Yuki Arai and Maki Itoh wore for their IP Title match from “GRAND PRINCESS ’22”. In return, Arai and Itoh will soon receive real life costumes based on Hino & Hori to wear for portraits and other related merchandise.

“GO GIRL 3” will be held at Korakuen Hall on 28th August. It is a show for only women in the audience and admission will be free. There will also be a brand new logo for Tokyo Joshi Pro unveiled at the show.

“The Non-Binary Nightmare” Max The Impaler will make their TJPW debut on the 13th & 14th August Korakuen Hall shows. If there is anything you need to know about Max it this. They hate idols!

7. Special Single Match: Shuichiro Katsumura Vs Minoru Suzuki
8. Spirit Of Ganbare World Openweight Title: Yumehito Imanari (c) Vs Ken Ohka

Nine years ago Ganbare☆Pro was created by Ken Ohka. Standing next to him was Yumehito Imanari, who wasn’t even a full fledged pro wrestler at the time. Now Imanari has become a strong wrestler and also a champion. Ohka knows his friend has already surpassed him but he really, really wants to win the Spirit Of Ganbare Title. Imanari says neither of them make a living from pro wrestling alone but he does not feel guilty about it. This has been his way of life for a decade and he will put everything into it at Ota Ward. He also remembers their last singles match against each other 4 years ago. There was no winner then because of outside interference so he wants the result to be clear on 10th July.

Shuichiro Katsumura met face to face with Minoru Suzuki for the first time since their brawl earlier this month. Since then Katsumura changed his attitude over the match. At first he was excited to finally wrestle Suzuki but after meeting him he is now determined to beat him. He’s been studying Suzuki trying to find any weaknesses he can take advantage of. Suzuki accused Katsumura of holding onto past glories from his MMA career which makes him want to smash Katsumura to pieces! He also told Katsumura not to disappoint him.

The war of words between Yuna Manase and Sayaka Unagi took a bizarre turn during the press conference. Manase talked about having no regrets in her career that brought her from Stardom to Actwres girl’Z to Tokyo Joshi Pro to Ganpro. So she knows Unagi but is unsure if her behavior now is out of confidence or insecurity. However she will not underestimate her opponent because she wants to prove Ganpro is amazing. Unagi said her problem is when she lost the singles match against Manase in 2019 she lost to a woman who is in the late stages of her wrestling career. Unagi needs to get her win back so she can move on to working her way up in Stardom and collect all of their championships. The bizarre moment was when the two stood next to each other for the photo op. Unagi suddenly attacked Manase and bit her on the chest! Unagi told her she is sick of seeing Manase acting so kind hearted. She wants to see Manase fighting for her life and go crazy in the ring!

Tokyo Princess Cup 2022

June 23, 2022

The 9th annual Tokyo Princess Cup will consist of 20 wrestlers competing in 5 rounds across 7 shows. Last year’s winner Maki Itoh will not be entering the tournament because she has a booking with GCW in America on the same day as the final. Itoh’s priority with Tokyo Joshi Pro right now is to wrestle on behalf of the company overseas. Juria Nagano will also not be entering the tournament due to a busy schedule. Miyu Yamashita is entering the tournament while she has an American booking scheduled for 23rd July. For that reason the match schedule for Round 2 will not be decided until the brackets are filled up. That way if Yamashita has a Round 2 match it will not clash with her Garden State Pro booking. The semi-final pairings will be determined by a lottery.

6. KO-D Openweight Title – King Of DDT 2022 – Final: X Vs X

The King Of DDT final four are Kazusada Higuchi, Jun Akiyama, Yuki Ueno and Naomi Yoshimura. The semi-finals divide them into two existing rivalries. Higuchi and Akiyama put aside their past differences to work as a functional tag team at “CYBERFIGHT FESTIVAL 2022” but the premature ending to that match left that loose thread up in the air. Both have promised to become the KO-D Openweight Champion on behalf of Tetsuya Endo and carry on in his place while he is injured. Ueno and Yoshimura have become rivals since their tag team Nautilus split up. Yoshimura has beaten Ueno in all of their previous singles matches.

A mystery wrestler is teaming up with Chris Brookes to take on MAO & Shunma Katsumata? Who could it be? Maybe it’s a certain Welshman who Brookes and The 37KAMIINA have been in the ring with before. No, not CdawgVA!

Special guests from AEW feature up and down the show with the big match being Thunder Rosa Vs Miyu Yamashita in a first time meeting. Riho pops up to team with Arisu Endo against Mei Suruga & Suzume. Previous opponents Hikaru Shida & Hikari Noa are now on the same team as they take on the newly renamed Toyo Mates. There is going to be so much joy and power on show when Miu Watanabe and Willow Nightingale are in the same ring together. Aja Kong has her first match back in Tokyo Joshi Pro since October. A challenger has been found for Maki Itoh. Over in England this past weekend, Alex Windsor won the SHE-1 tournament in Pro Wrestling: EVE. During her victory speech, she called out Itoh and demanded a shot at the International Princess Title! Itoh received the message and accepted the challenge so Windsor will soon be on her way to Japan.

DDT “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2022”, 20/08/2022
Tokyo Ota Ward Gymnasium

1. Shinichiro Kawamatsu Debut Match: Shinichiro Kawamatsu Vs X
2. International Special Hardcore Match: Joey Janela Vs Shunma Katsumata
3. DDT Universal Title: Masahiro Takanashi (c) Vs X
4. KO-D Openweight Title: KO-D Champion (c) Vs X

The tycoon of America’s indie scene finally arrives in DDT! Joey Janela has long been sought after by Sanshiro Takagi going back to the Social Distancing match GCW held very early into the pandemic. He will be arriving in Japan a week earlier but his first confirmed match is taking place at “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2022”. He takes on Katsumata in a Hardcore Match. Since Janela is nicknamed “The Bad Boy”, Katsumata is now calling himself “The Happy Boy”.

Shinichiro Kawamatsu is returning to DDT to have a proper debut pro wrestling match. The politician wasn’t satisfied with his previous wrestling match relying on his bodyguard only to get beaten into submission once he had to fight for himself. So he is finding time during his political duties to train for a proper match. He actively trains in Jiu Jitsu so he already has some martial arts experience to lean on.

7. Princess Tag Team Titles: Yuka Sakazaki & Mizuki (c) defeated Shoko Nakajima & Hyper Misao when Sakazaki pinned Misao with the Magical Merry-Go-Round (19:03).
*V5 for the Magical Sugar Rabbits.

One week ago Shoko Nakajima successfully defended the Princess Of Princess Title against Yuka Sakazaki. Today Sakazaki evened the score by successfully defending the Princess Tag Team Titles with Mizuki against Nakajima & Hyper Misao. The challengers Kyoraku Kyomei pulled every trick they could think of to try and win the belts. They tried spraying foam at them, tried crashing bikes into them and even tried out-wrestling them. But The Magical Sugar Rabbits kept their cool and Sakazaki ended up pinning Misao with the Magical Merry-Go-Round.

Mizuki is pleased to reach her 5th defence in this reign. Even though the championships are remaining in the status quo, she thinks the value of the Tag Titles have increased which only makes her want to defend it more and more. Yuki Arai then entered the ring and threw out a challenge. She wants herself and Saki Akai to be the next opponents for MagiRabi! Arai has only been wrestling for a year but within that time she got to see so many cool things from Sakazaki, Mizuki & Akai up close. It drives her to become stronger and challenge for the titles.

Rika Tatsumi is building up her momentum for her Princess Title shot at “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’22” next month. She & Suzume defeated Maki Itoh & Hikari Noa in the semi-main event. Tatsumi was able to cut off Noa with the Hip Attack, followed up with the Twist Of Fate and won with the Missile Hip. Noa & Itoh argued afterwards when Noa admitted to lying about wanting to team with Itoh. Tatsumi & Suzume however described their own teamwork as perfect. Today is the second time this month they teamed up and they are currently unbeaten together.

Reiwa AA Cannon can point to their win over Miyu Yamashita & Moka Miyamoto as their qualification to be the No. 1 Contenders for the Tag Titles. Akai hit Yamashita with the Quetzalcoatl to take her out of the running. Miyamoto still put up a fight on her own but Arai eventually got the better of her and struck the Finally to win. Akai had to leave the building shortly afterwards for another booking but gave Arai her blessing to to go ahead and challenge MagiRabi at the end of the show.

A big challenge lay ahead for Juria Nagano when she took on Miu Watanabe. She put up a good fight but the expected result happened when Watanabe lifted her up into the Canadian Backbreaker and held on until Nagano gave up. Watanabe later found out she is going to be Willow Nightingale’s debut opponent on 9th July. It will be Watanabe’s first ever singles match against a foreign wrestler. It makes her nervous but she will do her best to introduce herself to Nightingale with power and a smile.

The 3 Way Match turned into a bit of a love triangle with Yuki Aino and Pom Harajuku fighting over Raku’s affection. It was caused when Aino decided to join forces with Raku instead of Harajuku for the 2-on-1 advantage. Harajuku fought back by grabbing a homemade photobook of Raku pictures and using it to lure Aino away from the real Raku. Aino took control of the match until Harajuku came back trying to steal pins. Raku and Harajuku collided together and Aino dropped Harajuku with the Venus DDT for the win.

Toyo University Tag teamed up for the first time in a while to take on Nao Kakuta & Haruna Neko. It was a worthwhile reunion because they won with flying colours. Yuki Kamifuku & Mahiro Kiryu landed a Big Boot/Spinebuster combo on Kakuta. Kamifuku then went on to pin Neko with the Famouser. Backstage Kamifuku talked about how exciting Tokyo Joshi Pro has been lately. She thinks it is time for her & Kiryu to update their tag team name. She told Kiryu to think of a new name on the spot. Kiryu came up with Toyo Mates because she wanted to keep Toyo in the name.

It took over a year but Kaya Toribami has finally won her first singles match! At first it looked like Arisu Endo had her beaten with a Camel Clutch. But when she readjusted the hold to pull Toribami away from the ropes, a series of Cradles began and ended with Toribami getting the three count. Toribami said she is really happy to finally win under her own power and without relying on teammates. She wants to fight more on an even footing against her seniors. Endo is disappointed to be the first person Toribami has beaten. She learned the lesson that she lost because she was not careful.

Miyu Yamashita is getting a major opponent at Ota Ward Gymnasium on 9th July. She will take on Thunder Rosa from AEW! It will be Rosa’s first match in TJPW since January 2020 when she won the International Princess Title from Itoh. She wasn’t able to return because of the covid pandemic and eventually vacated the title. Yamashita is really looking forward to facing the current AEW Women’s Champion because they haven’t wrestled each other before.

There is no date set for his return yet but he will miss King Of DDT. His 1st Round opponent Masahiro Takanashi receives an automatic buy into the next round. Takanashi will now wrestle in an added dark match to make up for his tournament match getting cancelled.

Hyper Misao feels inspired after watching their match yesterday and now wants the Tag Title match to be so good that other wrestlers will be proud of her. The Magical Sugar Rabbits have been carrying the tag team division in Tokyo Joshi Pro which is why Misao wants to beat them now when they are at their most valuable. Mizuki is disappointed she wasn’t able to win the No. 1 Contender 4 Way Match but she is committed to protecting the Tag Titles with Sakazaki.

Reiwa AA Cannon are reunited to take on The Karate Girls. This past April was the first time Saki Akai & Yuki Arai teamed together. They won their first match and are now facing tougher competition in the form of Miyu Yamashita & Moka Miyamoto.

1. Mei Suruga & Suzume Vs X & X
2. International Princess Title: Maki Itoh (c) Vs Invited Overseas Wrestler
3. Princess Of Princess Title: Shoko Nakajima (c) Vs Rika Tatsumi

Rika Tatsumi won the No. 1 Contender 4 Way despite being unprepared for that type of match. In hindsight she wishes she planned more strategies like hiding outside the venue to get some rest while her other three opponents kept fighting. However winning the match has given her confidence and she is now ready to be the Princess Of Princess Champion again. Right now she feels invincible with no enemies or blind spots holding her back. Part of her motivation to win is so she can become a crazy champion that will stir up TJPW.

A foreign wrestler will be invited over by TJPW to challenge Maki Itoh for the International Princess Title. If Itoh wins this match she will break the record for most IP Title defences in a single reign. She is currently tied at four defences with Hikari Noa.

Mei Suruga & Suzume are now confirmed to have a tag match together on the show. Suzume promises she will have a new outfit for the match.

*V3 for Shoko Nakajima.
11. GHC Heavyweight Title: Satoshi Kojima defeated Go Shiozaki (c) with the Lariat (21:11).
*Go Shiozaki fails in V1. Satoshi Kojima becomes the 39th GHC Heavyweight Champion!

The 2nd annual “CYBERFIGHT FESTIVAL” brought together all of the wrestling promotions owned by CyberAgent for a massive show inside Super Saitama Arena. There was plenty of news coming out of it and you can argue it was a better showing for NOAH and Tokyo Joshi Pro than it was for DDT, especially when it came to the inter-promotional matches.

Or maybe it’s New Japan that came out the winner because one of their guys now holds NOAH’s top championship! Satoshi Kojima defeated Go Shiozaki in the main event to win the GHC Heavyweight Title. He is now the fourth wrestler to achieve the biggest grand slam in Japanese pro wrestling. Only he, Kensuke Sasaki, Yoshihiro Takayama and Keiji Muto are the only wrestlers to win the GHC Title, the IWGP Heavyweight Title and the Triple Crown. Shiozaki threw everything at him including Lariats, the Go Flasher and even the Emerald Flowsion. Kojima survived all of it and put his power into three Lariats to dethrone the champion down in his first defence.

Kojima’s big celebration was cut short when Kenoh walked down to the ring. He told Kojima that NOAH is not the destination for New Japan wrestlers. He’s been of the opinion for the last few years because of Muto and Kazuyuki Fujita too. Kenoh promised to open up the future because right now NOAH and CyberFight has none! He challenged Kojima to a title match and Kojima accepted. He later said he doesn’t want anyone to think NOAH is at a low level because he is now their champion. He assures the fans that Shiozaki and the rest of the NOAH roster are not inferior to New Japan. The big title match will take place at Nippon Budokan on 16th July.

TJPW got their spotlight as the semi-main event match. Shoko Nakajima achieved her third straight Princess Of Princess Title defence by beating her long time friend and rival Yuka Sakazaki. Both were given major entrances fitting for the big occasion. Sakazaki got an army of dancing magical girls while Nakajima led a pack of dinosaurs down to the ring. Sakazaki almost won the match by hitting the Magical Merry-Go-Round but her odds vanished after Nakajima blocked the Magical Girl Niwatori Yaro with her knees. The champion then took over with a DDT and pinned Sakazaki with the Diving Senton. Nakajima is happy to see so many people watch her match against somebody as special to her as Sakazaki. Her opponent feels the same even though she lost.

The night had three DDT Vs NOAH matches and NOAH ended up with a clean sweep of victories. The big one was Kenoh defeating Daisuke Sasaki in a No DQ Match. It was a wild affair featuring interference from both DAMNATION T.A and Kongo, including Masakatsu Funaki cycling down the ramp and crashing into the wrong target. Even Yoshihiko showed up defending DDT’s honour only to get thrown out of the ring by Kenoh. Sasaki used a stun gun to prevent Kenoh from doing his Flame Kick. He then brought out a casket with thumbtacks sprinkled inside only to get slammed into it himself. Sasaki also missed a Diving Elbow Drop from the top of the ladder which cost him dearly. Kenoh had no such trouble and hit the P.F.S. Diving Stomp from the ladder to win. Afterwards backstage Kenoh explained his thoughts over DDT. He’s been calling DDT “School Wrestling” and wonders why they should feel ashamed of it? Why does DDT want to turn into a conservative mainstream wrestling company? They were built on being “Cultural Pro Wrestling” so they should have pride and confidence in being that. DDT was at its brightest when they understood it and that was how they could compete against New Japan, NOAH and All Japan. Kenoh thinks Sanshiro Takagi does not understand that and should be lucky to have a guy like Daisuke Sasaki who gets it. Sasaki blamed his loss on having to carry DDT on his back. If he fought selfishly for himself today’s result would have been very different. He says he will carry this shameful loss for the rest of his life, just like how Tetsuya Endo will carry his…

The second big DDT Vs NOAH match was the 6-Man Tag and it ended up becoming the most controversial story of the show. It was meant to be a big match with flashy entrances for everyone involved. Stories were built up pitting Kazusada Higuchi and Yoshiki Inamura against each other along with Jun Akiyama against Atsushi Kotoge. Then five minutes in we get to Tetsuya Endo against Katsuhiko Nakajima. There was an awkward looking moment when Nakajima held himself back against the ropes when Endo tried to drag him away from there. Endo threw a big kick to make him move then some Elbow Strikes. Nakajima responded with a big slap across the face, knocking Endo out and stopping the match! While Endo was getting medical assistance, Akiyama gave Nakajima a stern talking to with the other wrestlers looking on. Endo was still conscious but was helped carried to the back and diagnosed with a concussion. Akiyama criticised Nakajima in his post-match interview without naming him. He explained it doesn’t matter if you can take a strike to the temple if your opponent cannot. He was once told by Giant Baba that no matter what happens, in the end all wrestlers are friends in the same business. He doesn’t think that was the case here. He finished by saying let’s wrestle properly and do it right. I personally do not think it was Nakajima’s intention to knock out Endo but they were clearly not on the same page in the brief time they were in the ring together. I hope it was just a bad misread by Nakajima by trying to add tension to the match. Akiyama was the right person in the right place at the right time to prevent things from escalating further.

The big international guest for the show was Rob Van Dam. Today was his first time wrestling in Japan since 2014. He was on the winning team with Yoshinari Ogawa & HAYATA beating Kaito Kiyomiya, Daisuke Harada & YO-HEY in a 6-Man Tag Match. RVD even picked up the win by pinning Harada with the Five Star Frog Splash. Backstage RVD promised to come back next month. NOSAWA Rongai heard that and challenged him to a Hardcore Match with some of his friends at the Budokan show.

The main core of DDT’s tag team division provided an 8-Man Tag Match. DISASTER BOX & CDK joined forces to take on The 37KAMIINA plus Asuka. There was a massive pile on of Yuki Ueno on top of Asuka on top of Masahiro Takanashi on top of MAO on top of Naomi Yoshimura. The entire thing was then broken up by a Somato from HARASHIMA. MAO & Asuka took care of Chris Brookes with their Doomsday Shiranui double team. Shunma Katsumata tried to finish things off but HARASHIMA got him in the end with the Somato. Takanashi found it weird that wrestlers they feuded with not so long ago are here smiling with them today. Just goes to show when situations change so can certain alliances. The 37KAMIINA also agree they had a fun time and hoped the fans did too.

NOAH’s offer match was a 10-Man Tag Team bout pitting Japan against the world. The foreign team won when Michael Elgin pinned Daiki Inaba with the Elgin Bomb. Timothy Thatcher said if the match took place tomorrow the result may have been different. But today NOAH’s international team were blessed with good teamwork. Simon Gotch said NOAH has always had great foreign wrestlers and this team are part of the new history that will continue to bring in even more. Rene Dupree bragged about North America beating Japan today. The NOAH home team did not provide any post-match comments.

Shoko Nakajima’s next challenger for the Princess Title was determined in a 4 Way Match. Any idea of Daydream joining forces to wipe out the competition did not last long and the match quickly turned into every woman for herself. Miu Watanabe gave both Rika Tatsumi and Mizuki the Giant Swing together. Yuki Kamifuku later tried killing two birds with one stone by hitting the Famouser onto both Tatsumi & Mizuki at the same time. Watanabe jumped in and was ready to give Kamifuku the Tear Drop when Tatsumi broke it up with a Hip Attack. The match came down to the two Daydream wrestlers and Tatsumi came out on top with the Missile Hip to her partner. Tatsumi will now face Nakajima for the Princess Title at Ota Ward Gymnasium on 9th July. Kamifuku said she doesn’t need a championship for now. Instead she wants to fight the Cyber Japan Dancers who performed during intermission!

Pheromones are looking unstoppable once more thanks to their newest member Akito “Cochin” Nishigaki. He is all in on the gimmick, proving it is not an attempt to infiltrate the unit and destroy it from the inside. However their opponents had their own tricks to deal with, such as Kendo Kashin using a body double so he could attack from another angle. Yumiko Hotta got more than she bargained for and was sprayed with a fire extinguisher. Takagi gave Akito a Stunner but Akito stripped out of his costume to toughen up. He put Takagi in a Figure 4 Leg Lock and Yuki Iino sat on Takagi’s face for added damage, making him give up. Backstage Kashin asked for a rematch which Hotta & Shinya Aoki both agreed to. Takagi said maybe next year because his shoulder is bothering him. Kashin said it has to be this year. The four of them then crashed the Pheromones post-match interview to attack Yumehito Imanari and pull his pants down in front of the media.

Nivea sponsored the TJPW 6-Woman Tag Match and rewarded the winners with 10 years supply of their products. Hikari Noa, Suzume & Yuki Arai entered to the brand new TJPW theme song “Princess March” by Masayoshi Soken. Then Maki Itoh performed her theme song with 6 members of IQ Project before Miyu Yamashita & Juria Nagano made their entrance together. The experience of 121000000 was the deciding factor. Yamashita & Itoh took out Noa & Arai with a High Kick/Headbutt Sandwich. Yamashita then wiped out Suzume with the Skull Kick to get the three count. It is Nagano’s first win as a wrestler and Itoh joked about her getting rewarded with gifts from Nivea.

The opening match of the main show was the first DDT Vs NOAH bout of the event. It was between two teams of young wrestlers with Kinya Okada & Kai Fujimura from NOAH beating Toi Kojima & Yuya Koroku from DDT. Kojima & Koroku are both frustrated by the loss but still believe their form of training is not inferior to NOAH’s.

The STARTING BATTLE pre-show provided three dark matches involving DDT, TJPW and Ganbare☆Pro. The Ganpro team went to battle against Eruption but quickly got off on the wrong foot when Ken Ohka got rolled up in tape by his enemies once again. Yuna Manase tried to even the score by getting the better of Saki Akai with a Lariat. Mizuki Watase fought with Hideki Okatani but then turned his attention to Yukio Sakaguchi once Ohka got back into the action. Unfortunately for them, Eruption ended up with the numbers advantage and Sakaguchi choked out Watase with the Sleeper Hold to end the match. When Watase recovered he told Eruption he can continue fighting and began cutting his hair to prove it. Backstage Eruption said they will think about having more matches against Ganpro at Ganpro’s big show in Ota Ward on 10th July. Watase confronted them again and continued cutting off his hair to show how determined he is to fight them. Sakaguchi was convinced an agreed for Eruption to have another match against Ganpro at Ota Ward.

Mahiro Kiryu finally got her day in the sun by getting the win for her team in the TJPW 10-Woman Tag Match. It was an important match for some of the other women too. Kaya Toribami is celebrating finishing her first year as a pro wrestler. Raku was absent and missed by everyone, even by the opposing team. Her replacement YuuRI was disappointed to lose but would be happy to fight with the TJPW wrestlers again. Hyper Misao wanted to win before challenging for the Princess Tag Team Titles soon but still enjoyed her team today. She’d like the 5 of them to do something together again, like have a 5 Way Match! Pom Harajuku was just upset her summer is ending already because she took the fall.

DDT provided the very first match of the day inside the venue when Muscle Sakai & Yukio Naya took on Soma Takao & Kazuki Hirata. Sakai took Kenoh’s criticisms of DDT to heart and wanted to wrestle seriously. He declined a dance battle with Hirata until he was given the Hirata GO! glasses. Takao cut the dancing short so he could continue the match with Naya. Hirata almost pinned Naya with an Inside Cradle but Naya kicked out. He then delivered a Back Drop to Hirata and pinned him Yuji Hino style to get the win. Hirata said he didn’t expect Muscle Sakai of all people to come in wanting to do an exciting match.

Perhaps the biggest news of all to come out of the show was Keiji Muto’s announcement. He once called pro wrestling a marathon without a finishing line but the time has finally come for him to finish. He is going to retire next spring and is planning to wrestle only a few more matches before his career is over. His doctor told him the condition of his left hip is becoming bad and he may need to replace it with an artificial joint. Should he need a hip replacement he will no longer be able to wrestle even though he still wants to. Muto is still thinking of where and when his retirement will take place along with exactly how many more matches he will do before then. He also said The Great Muta may reappear once or twice more but when the Demon Gate to his world closes, it will this time close for good.

The entire event was not just about the pro wrestling show. There was a festival set up around the venue for fans to experience everything about the different CyberFight promotions. I could not find many details but apparently Gake no Fuchi Pro had a stall set up where Miyako Matsumoto held a meet and greet but it was taken over by Prominence.

That’s not all, as Akiyama approached the ring Tetsuya Endo, Kazusada Higuchi, Yuya Koroku & Toi Kojima appeared from the other side of Korakuen and entered the ring behind Kongo. There was a lot of threats and tough talk between the NOAH and DDT sides until they broke off from each other. Backstage Akiyama talked about how much NOAH has changed since he worked for them. Kenoh meanwhile complained about Sasaki being nowhere to be found.

The mystery wrestler in the NOAH 10-Man Tag was revealed yesterday to be Timothy Thatcher! The housewives’ favourite in Europe is now in the company.

The big combat event of the year in Japan is this month’s RIZIN Vs K-1 kickboxing bout between Tenshin Nasukawa and Takeru Segawa. It is an event so big that it is being promoted simply as “THE MATCH”. Well, at least it’s supposed to be happening this month. The massive TV deal for the fight fell through following news articles alleging the president of RIZIN to having connections with organized crime. The planned broadcast is now going to be a PPV on ABEMA. That same day in Korakuen, DDT will be doing their own version of THE MATCH with Shinya Aoki and Hikaru Machida both involved. Toi Kojima is also taking part, continuing his fighting relationship with Aoki. Finally whenever DDT does boxing things they usually bring in Gota Ihashi to be the human punching bag. He’ll be fine.

Shin-Kiba 1st RING

1. Road To SEKIGAHARA Special 6-Man Tag Match: Yumehito Imanari, Shota & Soma Takao Vs Ken Ohka, Masahiro Takanashi & Chris Brookes

The go home show for “WRESTLE SEKIGAHARA” sees Yumehito Imanari teaming with ROMANCE DAWN to take on Ken Ohka & CDK! So far Imanari has had Ohka’s number in the previous two warm up matches. However CDK’s antics have made them a difficult problem for ROMANCE DAWN to solve.

TOKYO JOSHI PRO “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’22”, 09/07/2022
Tokyo Ota Ward Gymnasium

1. Princess Of Princess Title: Shoko Nakajima (c) Vs Winner Of 12/6 4 Way Match

Suzume has spent time in Gatoh Move these last few weeks getting to know Mei Suruga. She was the special opponent for Suruga’s 4th Anniversary match held two weeks ago. Then today she showed up at ChocoPro to promote “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’22”. Suzume and Suruga agreed to team up for the show and are currently working on what name to call themselves. Too many people involved with the promotions have already shot down AppleBees as an option so don’t even think about suggesting it.

Hikaru Shida is the latest guest star added to the show. So that’s her and Riho both coming in from AEW.

GANBARE☆PRO “WRESTLE SEKIGAHARA”, 10/07/2022
Tokyo Ota Ward Gymnasium

1. Special Single Match: Yuna Manase Vs Sayaka Unagi
2. Special Tag Match ~ CDK Vs ROMANCE DAWN: Chris Brookes & Masahiro Takanashi Vs Shota & Soma Takao
3. Special Single Match: Shuichiro Katsumura Vs Minoru Suzuki
4. Spirit Of Ganbare World Openweight Title: Yumehito Imanari (c) Vs Ken Ohka

Be careful what you wish for. Shuichiro Katsumura asked for a strong opponent to fight at Ota Ward Gymnasium and Minoru Suzuki answered the challenge! Suzuki didn’t waste any time in giving Katsumura a taste of what’s to come, sparking a short brawl between the two. Suzuki said this is what you get when you pick a fight with him for two reasons. One, because it sells the match and two, because Katsumura will need to use everything he knows to have a chance at beating him.

Ganbare Tamagawa (aka Batten x Burabura) will be on the show wrestling in Ganbare☆Pro for the first time in 8 and a half years. He was one of the first people to join Ganpro after it formed in 2013, first as an ally to Ken Ohka that lead to a heel turn out of bitterness for being so weak. He saw the error of his ways and turned back face but was done with the promotion after its first year. Since then he has stayed home in Fukuoka to focus on his family business while occasionally wrestling for Kyushu Pro Wrestling.

10. Princess Of Princess Title: Shoko Nakajima (c) Vs Yuka Sakazaki
11. GHC Heavyweight Title: Go Shiozaki (c) Vs Satoshi Kojima

Some changes were made to two important matches on the “CYBERFIGHT FESTIVAL 2022” card at a press conference held during the week. First, Kenoh demanded his match against Daisuke Sasaki be turned into a Hardcore Match. Sasaki attacked Kenoh with a stun gun during last weekend’s NOAH show (and attacked him the same way during an online broadcast earlier today). Kenoh claims that CyberAgent chose him to be the PR Director for the show which gives him the power to demand the match stipulation. On the one hand Kenoh is pleased because it shows that CyberAgent recognises his importance but the role is small enough to also suggest that Sanshiro Takagi thinks he is incompetent to do anything better.

Naomichi Marufuji has been pulled from the show because the condition of his knees has worsen and he will be unable to wrestle. Katsuhiko Nakajima showed up at the press conference and said he will take Marufuji’s place in the DDT Vs NOAH 6-Man Tag Match. He said the “bandit”, “sumo” and “old man” are all going to wrestle circles around Atsushi Kotoge & Yoshiki Inamura so they will need his help despite NOAH and Kongo being enemies. He got into a confrontation with Kotoge that ended with the two slapping each other in the face very hard. Nakajima then grabbed a piece of paper with the DDT logo and ripped it apart. He will do so much to DDT that they will never want to go near NOAH again!

Freshly back from America, Yuka Sakazaki is ready to take on Shoko Nakajima for the Princess Of Princess Title. She wants to have a fight with Nakajima that their juniors who grew up watching them have longed to see. Sakazaki also hopes the match will be one that a cheering crowd will be proud of. Nakajima calls Sakazaki one of the best TJPW wrestlers in the world who is improving with a lot of new experience from her matches in America. Even though Nakajima is the champion, her opponent is so strong it feels like she is the challenger again. Nakajima said she will be setting off the biggest fireworks in Saitama Super Arena and show she is more than just a strong wrestler.

Toi Kojima & Yuya Koroku are joining forces for the young battle between DDT and NOAH. Koroku said everything he’s learned in BURNING will make him absolutely unbeatable and prove that DDT is better than NOAH. Kojima was injured at last year’s “CYBERFIGHT FESTIVAL” and was left frustrated by the amount of time he missed because of it. This match will be his chance to make up for it and put that negative part of his career to bed. Kai Fujimura promises to show he has the responsibility, confidence and pride to be a NOAH wrestler. Kinya Okada however is disappointed to still be in the opening match for the second year in a row against similar opponents he beat last time. Kojima and Okada then began arguing over which company has better training. When the NOAH team left, Kojima was visibly angry over the argument.

Juria Nagano has been appointed the Chairwoman of the CyberFight Festival 2022 TikTok Committee. She will supervise the TikTok accounts belonging to DDT and NOAH to reach out to a larger audience and create buzz for the show.

A new theme song for TJPW will debut at the show as part of a collaboration with Square Enix. The song is called “Princess March” and is composed by Masayoshi Soken, the sound director of Final Fantasy XIV. The first play of the song will be as entrance music for Hikari Noa, Suzume & Yuki Arai in Match #2. Soken describes the song as a gorgeous orchestral style that expresses the unity of everyone clapping their hands together. He is also producing a new theme song for Yoshiki Inamura that will debut at the show too.

Tweets made by Saki Akai about her pre-match skincare routine was seen by Nivea management and opened the door to Nivea sponsoring the show! Fans attending the show can get samples of Nivea products. The winners of the TJPW 6-Woman Tag Match will also receive a sponsored prize. Several wrestlers have been egging on Nivea to give them free stuff since the news was announced.

Blue Corner: Yuki Arai, Suzume, Moka Miyamoto, Arisu Endo & Haruna Neko

The format of today’s show was built around a 5 Vs 5 series of singles matches randomly determined by lottery. On one side was the “1998 Class” of Tokyo Joshi Pro, all featuring wrestlers born around the year 1998. The other team consisted of Shoko Nakajima and the four women entering the No. 1 Contender’s match for the Princess Of Princess Title at “CYBERFIGHT FESTIVAL 2022”. It was almost a clean sweep for the veteran team. Only Miu Watanabe was unable to win her match, instead fighting Suzume to a 10 minute draw in the main event.

Nakajima against Yuki Arai was the spotlight match of the series. Although Arai lost she understood she got valuable ring time against the champion. She knows she can work hard with her friends in the 1998 Class to get stronger and someday beat her seniors. Nakajima thinks Arai’s mindset coming out of the match should be “My training is paying off.”

The TJPW debut of Rhio saw the English wrestler defeat Yuki Aino with a Modified Neck Screw she calls the Dreaded End. After winning her first match here, Rhio is already calling out Maki Itoh for a shot at the International Princess Title. Hours later in America, Itoh successfully defended the title against Mia Yim at a Prestige Wrestling show so Rhio has to wait for her response.

A new CyberFight project called Yume Pro Wrestling -dream on the ring- will begin on 3rd June. Four untrained women with backgrounds in the entertainment industry will compete in a weekly Youtube show to become pro wrestlers. The four contestants were introduced at the start of the show. They are Wakana Uehara, Ema, Himari Manaka and Risako.
