HERO! is back for the first time since 2017! Sanshiro Takagi suggested that in another timeframe Yuki Ueno could have become the second generation HERO! He thinks this is the perfect match for Ueno to live experience DDT’s history.

Former enemies turned tag partners. The world is not ready for Hyper Misao & Mecha Mummy joining forces!

Videos – All “TOKYO JOSHI 2022 WINTER” Matches From 29/1

February 8, 2022

The Youtube channels are ramping up the match uploads a lot lately. Today I noticed Tokyo Joshi Pro ended up putting up their entire 29th January show match by match out of order. So I decided to gather them altogether in one post and delete the earlier single entries to free up some page space. I don’t want entire pages of this blog to get clogged up with videos.

1. Nao Kakuta defeated Kaya Toribami with the Shiden Kai (8:54).
2. Shoko Nakajima & Haruna Neko defeated Suzume & Arisu Endo when Nakajima pinned Endo with the Northern Lights Suplex (12:27).
3. Yuka Sakazaki & Mizuki defeated Raku & Pom Harajuku when Sakazaki submitted Harajuku with a Modified Calf Killer (11:24).
4. Hyper Misao, Nodoka Tenma & Yuki Aino defeated Rika Tatsumi, Miu Watanabe & Mahiro Kiryu when Tenma pinned Kiryu with the Killswitch (13:14).
5. Miyu Yamashita defeated Marika Kobashi with the Attitude Adjustment (10:09).

The homecoming show was important for Marika Kobashi. Today is the last time she wrestled in Yokohama before her graduation from Tokyo Joshi Pro this April. There were several times in Kobashi’s career when she was given a big match against Miyu Yamashita before she took an absence from pro wrestling. It happened in 2016 when she was ready to enter high school and 2019 when she was ready to enter university. So there was no other choice for her opponent today.

In the match itself Kobashi tried using the Run-Up Bulldog Headlock, the Front Neck Lock and also the Diving Chop inspired by one of her namesake’s Abdullah Kobayashi. But Yamashita ended up winning once she hit the Skull Kick and followed up with the Attitude Adjustment. She praised Kobashi for growing up and said it inspired herself to do her best today too. Kobashi said she loves TJPW but it breaks her heart that she was never good enough to beat Yamashita. However today has lit a fire beneath her and she will spend her last two months in wrestling stirring up TJPW. She ended the show by shouting “I love you! Gyau!”

A bunch of covid positives is throwing this weekend’s lineups out of whack. Tokyo Joshi Pro is missing Yuki Kamifuku, Hikari Noa, Moka Miyamoto and Maki Itoh. Kamifuku, Noa and Miyamoto all tested positive while Itoh was identified as a close contact. This prompted the rest of the roster to take fresh PCR tests and they have since all come back negative.

Itoh will be able to return at the 11th February Korakuen Hall show and Kamifuku is aiming to be cleared in time to be on the show too. So for the moment their International Princess Title match is still on the schedule. However the match will get called off if Kamifuku’s condition does not improve by then. The timing of Noa and Miyamoto getting their positive results back might prevent them from being on the show depending on when they started their isolation periods. The easy solution if they can’t show up is to replace Noa with Miyamoto’s opponent Arisu Endo and just do six matches instead of seven.

They are also allowed to have one ringside attendant each to apply more oil to them whenever they ask for it. Danshoku Dieno believes Aoki came up with the stipulation because a greased up body is difficult to grab. In reality, Aoki picked the match because he wants Yumiko Hotta to be his attendant and rub his body down.

6. International Princess Title: Maki Itoh (c) Vs Yuki Kamifuku
7. 2nd “Futari wa Princess” Max Heart Tournament – Final: Rika Tatsumi & Miu Watanabe Vs Nodoka Tenma & Yuki Aino

The two strongest teams in TJPW right now seem to be Daydream and The Bakuretsu Sisters. They both reached the Max Heart Tournament final and the time is coming to see which side is better. There have been two previous matches between the teams and the Princess Tag Team Titles were on the line both times. Daydream won the first one and the Sisters won the second time. This will be the definitive rubber match given how Nodoka Tenma’s wrestling career is nearing its end. Yuki Aino thinks this match is their destiny. She still wants to wrestle with her sister which she thinks is one of the reasons why they were so successful in this tournament. However Miu Watanabe believes Daydream is now at their strongest. Rika Tatsumi is looking ahead to the winners most likely getting the next Princess Tag Titles shot against The Magical Sugar Rabbits.

When Yuki Kamifuku pinned Maki Itoh earlier in the tournament, Itoh kept her temper knowing that Kamifuku would become a potential challenger for the International Princess Title. Her instinct was proven correct and Kamifuku gets the title shot at Korakuen Hall. Itoh wants her current reign to surpass Kamifuku’s time with the belt so whatever feelings Kamifuku shows in the match, Itoh will give it back 100 times more. Kamifuku feels motivated after teaming with Asuka and thinks it will be a bad look for their friendship if she has nothing to show from working so hard. If she becomes champion again she wants to expand the Wrestle Universe audience across Asia, because America and Europe are already being catered to. Harsh words were also given when Kamifuku called herself the coolest in the world. Itoh said “Piss off you piece of shit” in response.

Two classmates born in 1998 will face off when Suzume takes on Yuki Arai in a first time singles match. Suzume has two years of extra experience in the ring but Arai is coming off of a super rookie year that’s been covered by the Japanese wrestling press across the board. While Suzume knows how popular Arai is, she remembers getting many votes herself to qualify for the IP Title No. 1 Contender Battle Royal last December (Suzume even beat Arai 210 votes to 199). Who gets attention doesn’t bother her, she just wants to win against Arai in a match between two TJPW wrestlers.

3. DDT 25th Anniversary Special Single Match: Sanshiro Takagi Vs Michael Nakazawa
4. Special Single Match: Saki Akai Vs Maya Yukihi
5. KO-D Openweight Title: Konosuke Takeshita (c) Vs Tetsuya Endo

Wrestlers from DDT’s past will come to Sumo Hall to celebrate the company’s 25th Anniversary. The rumored AEW name turned out to be Michael Nakazawa and he blatantly tried to make people think it would be Kenny Omega to get more attention. His long rivalry with Sanshiro Takagi gets revived for the big occasion.

The DDT Legend Army consists of DDT’s big players from the 2000s era of the company. Poison Sawada JULIE and his paranormal powers made him a force to be reckoned with in his prime. Takashi Sasaki is still going today, flying the flag for FREEDOMS over the last 12 years. His Aka Rangers tag partner GENTARO was a DDT mainstay from 2001-2003. The Suicide Boyz of MIKAMI & Tanomusaku Toba were the focal point of DDT’s tag division throughout the decade both together and in separate teams. Tying up the challenging team is Naomi Susan at ringside. She played a major role for DDT behind the scenes as the liaison for foreign wrestlers and was also the manager for Union Pro Wrestling.

Celebrity and former multiple DDT title holder LiLiCo wants to wrestle one more match before she calls time on her pro wrestling career. 2018 was the last time she wrestled in DDT and it will really make it worth her while if they can find her some handsome opponents for her farewell.

4. Miyu Yamashita & Maki Itoh defeated Hikari Noa & Haruna Neko when Yamashita pinned Neko with the Attitude Adjustment (12:03).
5. 2nd “Futari wa Princess” Max Heart Tournament – Semi-Final: Rika Tatsumi & Miu Watanabe defeated Moka Miyamoto & Yuki Arai when Watanabe pinned Miyamoto with the Tear Drop (15:25).
6. 2nd “Futari wa Princess” Max Heart Tournament – Semi-Final: Nodoka Tenma & Yuki Aino defeated Yuki Kamifuku & Asuka when Aino pinned Kamifuku after the Bakuretsu Bulldog (15:39).

There are only so many matches left for The Bakuretsu Sisters before Nodoka Tenma graduates from Tokyo Joshi Pro this March. The team may be coming to an end soon but they can win the Max Heart Tournament in their final weeks together. VENYU couldn’t knock them out in the semi-final today. Tenma put Asuka out with the Killswitch, Yuki Aino gave Yuki Kamifuku the Side Suplex and together the Sisters hit the Bakuretsu Bulldog on Kamifuku for the win. They said they have come this far so they have no choice but to win the whole thing. Kamifuku was disappointed to lose but Asuka assured her their tournament run was not a disaster in the least.

The MokaYuki Cinderella run was all a dream. A Daydream that is! Eh? Eh? A lot of attention in the tournament was given to the Moka Miyamoto & Yuki Arai pairing but it all came to an end today. Arai put all the credit on Miyamoto for getting the team this far. Miyamoto however was more upset over the result and blamed the loss on herself. Rika Tatsumi & Miu Watanabe move on to the final.

The final on 11th February is now between Daydream and The Bakuretsu Sisters. Much like what the Sisters said above, Daydream aren’t afraid because they made it to the final by beating Kyoraku Kyomei and now MokaYuki. Both teams were complimentary to each other to close out the show.

Pom Harajuku tried to disguise herself as a ringside second for the 3 Way Match so would be ignored. Her disguise was just a large piece of paper on her back with “I Am A Second” written on it. Mizuki and Nao Kakuta didn’t fall for it and they dragged her back into the match.

In the opening match, Yuka Sakazaki got annoyed from seeing so many Yuki Arai shirts in the audience. She took her frustration out on Mahiro Kiryu, who complained to the referee about fouls being committed. Sakazaki then brought a chair into the ring and when they fought over it, the ref got knocked out by accident. Sakazaki then accidentally hit herself when she missed a swing and the chair bounced off the rope back into her face. Kiryu was falsely caught with the chair when the ref got back up and the match went back to normal.

Miyu Yamashita Vs Marika Kobashi was announced for the 5th February show in Yokohama. It will be Kobashi’s final match in her home region before she graduates in April.

There was no Up Up Girls performance to open the show because of Raku’s absence.

6. DDT Universal Title: Daisuke Sasaki (c) Vs Minoru Fujita

After getting a fever during the week, Danshoku Dieno got a covid test and received a positive result. No DDT wrestler or staff were identified a close contacts so he is the only absence from the show (knock on wood). It was already announced that Yumehito Imanari will replace Dieno in the Ultimate Tag League and he will likely be a permanent fill in for the rest of the tournament.

Some of the teams got to give their thoughts going into the opening day. Konosuke Takeshita wants to show everyone his bond with Yuki Ueno. Ueno wants to win the league so they can become KO-D Tag Team Champions and defend them in Osaka. Tetsuya Endo wants to win as part of his journey to Sumo Hall in March. Jun Akiyama says he can kill two birds with one stone by helping Endo become a champion again and getting a title for himself in the process. Former champions HARASHIMA & Naomi Yoshimura will make a massive statement about their dominance in the division by winning the titles they gave up, not lost. Yoshimura in particular will be very angry if another teams wins it.

Eruption have gained new energy with Hideki Okatani joining them. Okatani wants to use other teams as a stepping stone and Kazusada Higuchi wants the entire unit to leap forward this year. Yuji Hino sent in a message saying he wants to evolve with Yukio Naya. A message was also sent by Shuji Kondo listing all the wrestlers he is looking forward to fighting. He is also aware his partner Kazuki Hirata will get targeted for being weak. Now is the time for Hirata to get serious so Kondo prohibits him from dancing!

CDK as a team have mostly worked together in ChocoPro rather than DDT. Because of this, Masahiro Takanashi thinks the team will be fighting on behalf of ChocoPro in the tournament. He wants to win the Tag Titles and bring them over there. Chris Brookes adds his goal is to win all matches and kill Shunma Katsumata. On the other hand, MAO has figured out that his previous attempts to destroy Katsumata prevents them from achieving anything together. So instead of saying “Crush Shunma Katsumata” he will now say “I Love Shunma Katsumata!” Daisuke Sasaki is getting fed up with DDT putting on so many tournaments every year to determine who the best is. He doesn’t care as long as everyone watches him in the ring.

YuuRI’s very first match in Ganpro was against Yuna Manase last September. It was all very abrupt because of her unexpected appearance on the show. Now it’s time for the rematch and both will be prepared for each other this time.
