DDT is getting a helping hand with Ehime Pro Wrestling again for their next show in Matsuyama City. Several Ehime Pro wrestlers are booked across the show. The main event has “The Man Of 1,000 Towels” Imabari Taoru Mascaras involved. Next is Bonjin Pulp, a masked wrestler who has a bundle of tissues sticking out of his mask because his hometown has a reputation for shipping a wide variety of products made out of paper. Santaro Ishizuchi is said to be Ehime Pro’s strongest wrestler but he gets easily distracted whenever he sees a woman he likes. Rounding up the group is female wrestler Tsuruhimeka. She is a former local idol who became a wrestler with Ehime Pro. She already wrestled on last year’s DDT show in the area.

The DDT Extreme Title will be defended in a Best 2-Out-Of-3 Rounds match. Each round will have different rules or stipulations based on the ideas of both Shunma Katsumata and Antonio Honda. What those rules are we will not know until the show takes place. Katsumata likes to gamble which is why he is letting Honda decide on some of the rules. Honda can come up with something that will put Katsumata at a disadvantage but the champion thinks that is one reason why wrestling is so exciting. It does not even have to be a big rule change. The way Honda describes it, a small item can fall into a river and flow all the way into the ocean.

We’re left with a pretty good final four in the King Of DDT this year. Either MAO, Kazusada Higuchi, Chris Brookes or Daisuke Sasaki is going to take the crown. While the winner will certainly get a KO-D Openweight Title shot down the line, it looks like Yuki Ueno wants to defend it against Sanshiro Takagi first. Those two being in the same match on the show suggests we’re about to get a payoff to that.

One of the first business plans Ganbare☆Pro put together when they went independent was to work with a boat racing event in Saitama. It is the same event DDT had done similar work with in the past. It wasn’t meant to be this way but Ken Ohka is going to wrestle three times on this show! Munetatsu Nakamura pulled out because he is sick and HARUKAZE can’t show up because of a scheduling conflict. Apparently Ohka told management he is willing to work twice and step in to fight either Shigehiro Irie or Mizuki Watase. He didn’t expect to be given a tag match against both of them. He also didn’t expect to be put in a third match either! That right there is a lesson in being careful if you offer to do extra work at your job.

A disagreement broke out between Bushimasa and Thanomsak Toba over what rules they will use for their match. Toba wanted to use MMA rules but Bushimasa wants the match to be a Tire Boxing fight! They eventually agreed to do one round each of both. Round 1 will be an MMA fight with a 3 minute time limit, submissions allowed and a 10 count for Knockout. Round 2 is Tire Boxing where both fighters keep a foot in the middle of a tire and box each other. Victory is achieved by knocking the opponent out of the tire 3 times or knocking them out with a 5 Count. If there is no winner after both rounds then the fight will be ruled a draw.

Here are the names of each of the tag teams entering the Rumble match. Keisuke Ishii & Akito are “Wakamori Generation!“, Masahiro Takanashi & Makoto Oishi are “Team Sneaky People“, Soma Takao & Shota are ROMANCE DAWN of course, KANON & MJ Paul are “DAMNATION T.A Special Attack Team“, Yuki Iino & Yuki Ishida are “Dosukoi BURNING ~100% Yuki~” and Toru Owashi & Black Menso-re are “El Dorado Brother Combination?“.

Rukiya’s injury removes him from the opening match. The tag bout is now a 3 Way.

A minor left heel injury suffered on Sunday’s DDT show took Tetsuya Endo off of the “ALL TOGETHER” show that happened the next day. Thankfully after getting it examined Endo found out his heel has not been fractured and he is cleared to continue competing in the King Of DDT this weekend.

Even though Poison Sawada JULIE was eliminated from the tournament, he will be hanging around for a little while longer. He gets to form a DDT Legend team with HARASHIMA & Danshoku Dieno to take on the young blood.

All of a sudden Yuki Kamifuku has created an Asian Double Crown championship! She has held the Queen Of Asia Title since last November and just a few days ago won the brand new VPW Women’s Title in Vietnam. Both of those title wins came from Kamifuku defeating Alexis Lee, a 10 year veteran of the Southeast Asian wrestling scene. Her name has come up a lot in my DDT Around The World reports because she is the go-to opponent for whenever somebody from Tokyo Joshi Pro travels to Singapore. Lee has not given up on getting revenge for losing both championships to Kamifuku and is coming to TJPW for a double title rematch!

Wakana Uehara will not be at the show because she will be performing at a stage show elsewhere that day.

So from now on they decided it will be written as “Iron Fist Tag Team Titles” (アイアンフィストタッグ選手権).

Also something to note is BASARA themselves aren’t quite sure where Judomaster belongs to. His affiliation is written as “Free?” on their website.

Kiso also gets to referee a match pitting Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie against the young boys To-y & Yuni. Kiso has known Ishii since before he became a ref and he was also the ref for Irie’s debut match. He wanted to have them in particular to face against two of DDT’s future stars.

Last week Sanshiro Takagi hatched a plan to get the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title off of Sayaka Unagi. He no longer trusts Unagi to protect the belt after she lost it to an unknown person in America last month and risked it disappearing from DDT forever. Takagi’s plan was to attack Unagi with a pack of Grilled Unagi in her dressing room before a press conference. Takagi choked Unagi with the unagi and she tapped out. The referee was about to hand Takagi the belt when he instead told him to give it to the Grilled Unagi! Sayaka Unagi got revenge during the press conference when she opened the pack of unagi, filled it in a bowl with rice and began to eat it. After taking a few bites, the referee checked on the unagi for any movement and ruled it had been knocked out which means Sayaka Unagi is the champion again! She then promised to defeat Takagi on behalf of all kinds of Unagi.

Keigo Nakamura asked MAO to put the DDT Universal Title on the line in their match. MAO likes the idea because the story of a wrestler winning the title in his comeback match from injury hasn’t happened before with the Universal Championship. He wants to do unprecedented things in his title reign and that matches what he is looking for. Nakamura developed a desire to win that particular championship while he was rehabbing from his injury.

Hyper Misao is out of action with a right ankle fracture. It looked like she suffered the injury during her match against Steph De Lander at last week’s “GCW VS TJPW” show. Her return will be decided based on her doctor’s diagnosis and recovery time. The injury means she will miss her Daikaiju Pro match back in America later this month.

Due to the request of Toru Owashi we are getting a ground breaking second defence by the reigning KO-D 10-Man Tag Team Champions! None of the previous champion teams have ever stuck together long enough to take part in a second title defence. SCHADENFREUDE International can now become the most successfuly 10-Man Tag Champs ever if they can beat Owashi’s team of scrappy challengers.

Some controversy happened over the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title while Sayaka Unagi was on her tour of America. She unexpectedly lost and then won back the title against an unknown wrestler at some point. No video footage of the title changes exist and Unagi does not know the name of the person who beat her. After having discussions with the DDT GM Hisaya Imabayashi it was agreed that “Strange Foreigner” will be recognised as the 1,620th champion and when Unagi won it back she became the 1,621st champion. The incident has motivated Sanshiro Takagi even more to reclaim the title for DDT in order to remove any risk of the championship being lost overseas forever.

The next match Yukinori Matsui is adding to his show is all about Dick Togo and the wrestlers who look up to him. Daisuke Sasaki, Yasu Urano and Antonio Honda have all been taken under Togo’s wing at some point during their careers.

So the first match on the lineup caught my attention. Thanomsak Toba will be taking on another martial artist called Bushimasa. The match is sponsored by A-Toys Challenge Fight, or ACF for short. I went looking for clips of Bushimasa and found some not so impressive looking fights of his. He has taken part in a match type called Tire Fights where a tyre is placed in the middle of the ring, both fighters stick a foot into the gap and have to box each other while keeping their foot in the tyre. Most of his fights I could find had him lose and convincingly so. I guess he exists to be a human punching bag?

Some of the other guests on the show include Jinsei Shinzaki, Yuji Hino and Shigehiro Irie. Also Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi has been added to the show lineup but does not have a match yet.

And so Ganbare☆Pro ends their decade long tenure under CyberFight’s control. They will step forth into the independents beginning in April. Not everyone will be joining them because a few of the wrestlers are taking different directions as freelancers. Things don’t always go smoothly for GanPro and it was the same here when Ken Ohka’s speech at the end of the show was interrupted by sirens from a nearby ambulance driving past the venue. Ohka reminisced about the early shows that were held inside a tiny room at Ichigaya before growing to bigger and bigger venues. This group here today have all come together for GanPro and things will be no different when they go independent. As long as you have even the slightest GanPro spirit in your heart, you will find friends here.

Munetatsu Nakamura took a lot of big strides today. He got to team with his favourite tag team Yankee Two Kenju (bringing along a Yankee towel he bought from them years ago) and also pinned Shota clean to win the match. He told the fans not to worry about GanPro’s future because he will be here to make it even bigger! Shota is one of the wrestlers going freelance soon but that does not mean the permanent end of ROMANCE DAWN. He’d like someone out there to book a ROMANCE DAWN Vs Yankee Two Kenju match.

Both Choun-Shiryu and YuuRI were absent from the show due to unexplained reasons. They were replaced with Hong Kong International Police Man & Hong Kong International Police Woman. The two cops used their influence to declare what moves were legal and what moves weren’t. It was just an excuse for them to cheat and force Lethal Weapon to lose momentum whenever they started to fight back. Hartley Jackson was handcuffed to a post outside the ring so HARUKAZE had to fight 2-on-1. Jackson used his strength to break out of the cuffs but Policeman threatened to shoot him with his gun. HARUKAZE successfully negotiated with Policeman to put the gun away. The referee was then given a bribe to ignore what happened and keep the match going. Lethal Weapon ended up putting Policeman in the handcuffs and Jackson pinned him with the Death Valley Bomb to win.

Yoshiko Hasegawa & Riara were the other two wrestlers leaving GanPro after today. They along with Yuna Manase & Banny Oikawa all hugged each other after their match.

Both To-y and Rukiya have commented on reaching the D GENERATIONS CUP final. To-y said competing in this year’s tournament made him feel more anxious than last year because he needed to get stronger in order to catch up to Hideki Okatani and Takeshi Masada. He had to ask himself what is his dream? It is to win the KO-D Openweight Title. In order to make that dream closer to coming true he needs to win this tournament for a spot in King Of DDT. Rukiya is only focused on winning the D GENERATIONS CUP. He has the least amount of experience out of all of the participants and understands that nobody expected him to win any of his matches. He regrets debuting too late to take part in last year’s tournament and is using those feelings to motivate him.

Last but not least Kikutaro and Kuishinbo Kamen will also be celebrating their 30th anniversaries this year. Add both of their anniversaries together with Matsui’s and you will get a 90th anniversary to celebrate!

The spring edition of Beer Garden ended with Yuki Ueno getting a lucky break against Akito. Ueno’s legs were targeted again and Akito put him in a Figure 4 Leg Lock. Extra damage was done when Danshoku Dieno gave Shunma Katsumata the Danshoku Driver on top of Ueno’s chest while he was still in the hold. However when Akito grabbed Ueno by the arm to apply more pressure, Ueno pulled himself up and rolled on top of Akito, pinning his shoulders on the mat for the three count. Akito didn’t mind losing though. He knows his plan of weakening Ueno with limb work match after match is working. He said at Korakuen Hall he was going to poison him and this is what he meant!

In an upset Tomomitsu Matsunaga pinned Yuki Iino! A lot of the tag match had Iino spend time fighting Jun Akiyama and when it came to facing Matsunaga he wasn’t having any trouble. That was until Matsunaga dodged a Lariat and trapped Iino in a Crucifix Pin for the victory. Akiyama praised Matsunaga for the veteran like move because beating a champion is always a big deal no matter how it is done. Iino was mad at the result but Tetsuya Endo got him to calm down. They will get their revenge at the KO-D Tag Team Titles match on 7th April. Matsunaga overheard them playing down the result and took offence. He wants every match to matter and the Tag Titles should not belong to anyone who thinks otherwise.

The D GENERATIONS CUP final on 7th April will be between Rukiya and To-y. Rukiya beat Munetatsu Nakamura to get there while To-y had to get past Ilusion. Rukiya said he will definitely win to prove he is DDT’s strongest young wrestler. To-y promised he will show everyone just how much he has evolved in order to go even higher.

Things went a little bit weird for the match with Furitsuke Kamen in it. Kazuki Hirata is supposed to be the only one in DDT who dances and took offence to Kamen showing up. So for the match he wore black eyeliner to intimidate his opponents (I think he might have been doing Genki Horiguchi’s heel poses too) while Antonio Honda carried a giant inflatable stag beetle to the ring, holding it hostage because Endo loves collecting beetles. Kamen wanted to pause the match so he could lead everyone to a dance but Hirata grabbed him from behind and pulled his mask off. Honda put it on and declared himself to be Chin Chin Mask. When the Gongitsune spot backfired Kamen got his mask back and Endo pinned Honda with the Torture Rack Bomb. After the match Honda learned his lesson and said insects are not tools for conflict. Kamen then got all of the wrestlers to dance with him.

Match #2 had some outside brawling going on with Hideki Okatani and KANON as the focal point even though MJ Paul drove a van into Chris Brookes & Kazusada Higuchi. Back in the ring Daisuke Sasaki tried to give Higuchi the Nenbutsu Power Bomb as used by Jinsei Shinzaki but Brookes stopped him by making him drink beer until Higuchi could regain his senses and do a Back Body Drop counter. Then Paul made Brookes drink the beer. After all of this happened the focus returned to Okatani against KANON and Okatani won with a Sliding Lariat. That didn’t stop the two of them from still fighting each other after the match. When they were pulled apart Okatani made a promise to beat KANON with the Quetzalcoatl. KANON mocked him and said the reason why DDT isn’t promoting the King Of DDT stipulation for their upcoming singles match is because the company doesn’t have high expectations that Okatani will win!
