FUMA becomes the No. 1 Contender for the Union MAX Title. He will face Takumi Tsukamoto for the title on 29th August.

Earlier today on the Ganbare☆Pro show Shinichiro Tominaga was hinted to be the next challenger for Isami Kodaka and the Spirit Of Ganbare Title. When Tominaga beat Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi on this show, he told Kodaka that he pinned Mizuki Watase earlier in the day too. He is on a good form lately, good enough that he now thinks he can catch up to Kodaka! He always asked himself what would have happened if he never quit Union Pro. If it was the right move then he needs to prove it with results. Beating Kodaka to win back GanPro’s championship will prove he made the right choice!

The main event sounds like it was very weird and not just for the finish being a Body Slam. Daichi Kazato was at his most oddball and Isami Kodaka tried to figure out how to deal with that. When he did he Body Slammed him three times, taking so much wind out of Kazato that he couldn’t kick out of the pin.

FUMA & Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi weren’t happy that they lost to Speed Of Sounds so quickly in a comedy match. They asked for an immediate rematch, one that would be treated more seriously and SOS accepted. FUMA ended up pulling out two hunting muskets and scared the other wrestlers out of the ring, Hiroshi included. Banana Senga found two coathangers and gave them to Tsutomu Oosugi to fight FUMA with. FUMA instead hunted down both SOS wrestlers around the room, shooting them as well as Hiroshi and also Fuminori Abe. Hiroshi recovered and revived SOS by singing a hymn. While all of this was going on, Hiroshi was still the legal man this whole time so he got counted out right before he finally returned to the ring.

Three wrestlers have advanced past the opening round so far in this year’s Chouten ~Itadaki~. The main event saw Isami Kodaka submit Shiori Asahi in their first singles match against each other in 8 years. Kodaka said he has three more rounds to get past and he’s sure the Union MAX Title will be waiting for him at the finish line. He meets Daiki Shimomura in Round 2 after Shimomura beat Daichi Kazato. Kodaka and Shimomura fought each other for the MAX Title last September.

The other half of the A Block has turned into an easy path for SAGAT. He advanced to the 2nd Round by beating Lil’ Kraken and then discovered at the end of the show he was getting a bye into the semi-final because Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi Vs Leo Isaka ended in a Double Countout! Both Hiroshi and Isaka were determined to keep each other outside the ring and it blew up in both of their faces because the Double Countout eliminates both of them. So now SAGAT only has to beat the winner of Kodaka versus Shimomura to reach the grand final.

Chouten ~Itadaki~ 2023

The 8th annual Chouten ~Itadaki~ tournament is going to be the main focus for BASARA during the summer. This year uses the familiar format of a 16-man single eliminaion bracket. Every match will have a 30 minute time limit except for the final, which has no time limit. A draw of any kind will eliminate both wrestlers from the tournament. An odd bit of scheduling this year is half of the 2nd Round will take place on the same day the 2nd Half of Round 1 is completed. The complete 2nd Round schedule has not been finalized yet for this reason. It will have to be sorted out depending on which wrestlers are available to wrestle on 3rd June and which are available for 17th June. This year’s contestants are:

5. Union MAX Title: Takumi Tsukamoto defeated Banana Senga (c) with the High Angle Backslide Pin (18:21).
*Banana Senga fails in V2. Takumi Tsukamoto becomes the 19th Union MAX Champion!

There is a new Union MAX Champion and it is Takumi Tsukamoto! He is now a two time champ after beating Banana Senga today. Tsukamoto said he gained a lot of experience over the last three years since his previous title reign. He wants to break the record for most MAX Title defences (he and Ryota Nakatsu are tied in first together with 6 defences each). In order to do that he believes he must surpass his former self to become the true MAX Champion once and for all! Senga is disappointed he is no longer champion but the experience has finally given him a taste for wrestling in singles matches after spending the vast majority of his almost 20 year career as a tag team wrestler. Also now he can no longer rely on getting the champion’s purse to raise money for his hair transplant. He thinks he will have to go the crowdfunding route for that one.

Both members of Aijin Tag were in the room and had to watch Daiki Shimomura & Minoru Fujita be given the IRON FIST TAG Title belts. Sento Minzoku are now the Interim champions and they have mixed feelings over it. They thought Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi & Antonio Honda were more suited to be the Interim Champs but if they have the belts then they are the champions even if it doesn’t really feel that way. They don’t know if they have to wait until Masato Kamino comes back from injury to do the unification match or if they can defend the interim titles before then.

Hiroshi & Honda both wrestled wearing each other’s wrestling gear for their big title match. Hiroshi thought they were going to wear matching gear and didn’t expect Honda to show up wearing his old USA costume. Sadly for them their efforts to win the Interim IRON FIST TAG Titles ended in defeat against Sento Minzoku. Hiroshi is crushed with the result even though Fuminori Abe praised him afterwards for being cool.

FUMA threatened Ryota Nakatsu and the referee with a musket before their match.

Kaz Hayashi was full of thanks towards Isami Kodaka for inviting him over to BASARA today. He praised Kodaka by calling him a treasure of the pro wrestling world. Kodaka got embarrased by all the kind words and asked Hayashi to stick around and watch the rest of the show.

At the start of the show Kamino told the fans he is still waiting on his injury diagnosis before he can tell them when he can return to action. Takato Nakano said he considered vacating the belts but after discussions with Kodaka the decision was made to go the interim route instead. The unification match is being planned for whenever Kamino is ready.

KUBITO was unable to be at the show due to health problems involving his pancreas. He will be out of action for the time being.

The annual Chouten ~Itadaki~ begins on 23rd May with the final happening on 27th June. This year’s tournament will involve 16 wrestlers in a single elimination format.

Whenever Kamino is able to come back, Aijin Tag will enter a unification match with the interim champions.

A deadly feud between mascots has suddenly developed. Pokotan interfered in Chiitan’s match yesterday seemingly to help it out. However the two ended up butting heads and now want to fight each other to see who is the best mascot around. Akito had to figure out what match to put them in to solve this problem. He decided that he and Kazuki Hirata will also get involved to make it a tag match in front of the Shinjuku Takashimaya crowd.

1. Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino defeated Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi & Daichi Kazato when Kamino pinned Kazato with the Lariat (10:08).
2. Masahiro Takanashi defeated KUBITO with an STF (13:14).
3. Isami Kodaka & Daiki Shimomura Vs Lil’ Kraken & Leo Isaka ended in a Time Limit Draw (20:00).
4. Shota defeated FUMA with the Gannosuke Clutch (12:13).
5. Elimination 6-Man Tag Match: Ryota Nakatsu, SAGAT & Akiyori Takizawa defeated Takumi Tsukamoto, Yasu Urano & Fuminori Abe (21:45).
5a. Ryota Nakatsu eliminated Fuminori Abe by Ring Out (2:47).
5b. Fuminori Abe eliminated Ryota Nakatsu by Ring Out (3:08).
5c. Takumi Tsukamoto and SAGAT eliminated each other by Double Ring Out (7:28).
5d. Akiyori Takizawa eliminated Takumi Tsukamoto by Ring Out (9:18).
5e. Akiyori Takizawa eliminated Yasu Urano after the Big Mac (21:45).

The main event turned into a mess because of a referee bump. Yuya Okada got knocked out so Atsushi Ishiguro ran out as the replacement. However he missed the earlier eliminations in the match so the eliminated wrestlers were able to convince him they were still active participants. Then Okada recovered which caused more confusion between the two referees. That explains why it says above that some of the wrestlers were eliminated twice. Even then the wrestlers stuck around to stay involved in the match after they were eliminated. All of Sparky worked together to hit the Big Mac to get the win in the end.

Shota was FUMA’s mystery opponent. It was teased right before the show that the opponent was somebody who was wrestling in BASARA for the first time in years. He last wrestled here in 2018.

After the opening match Daichi Kazato told Aijin Tag who their challengers for the IRON FIST Tag Titles on 13th May are going to be. He’s not getting involved though. Instead he said it’s Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi & Antonio Honda!

MUSASHI from Michinoku Pro will be making his BASARA debut on 17th June.

BASARA “BASARA 215 ~MOKOFUKUSO~” Results

1. KUBITO Vs Tsutomu Oosugi defeated KUBITO with the Tsuki no Ishi (8:15).
2. Turnabout Pro Wrestling Trial: Daichi Kazato defeated Gouma Ryu and Banana Senga when Kazato pinned Senga with the Explosive Ax Bomber (8:05).
3. Basara Strange Style Jacket Match: FUMA defeated Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi by Knockout (R5 0:00).
4. Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino defeated Lil’ Kraken & Yasu Urano when Nakano pinned Kraken after the Lariat from Kamino (12:17).
5. Ryota Nakatsu, SAGAT & Akiyori Takizawa defeated Ryuichi Sekine, Daiki Shimomura & Minoru Fujita when SAGAT submitted Shimomura with the Argentine Backbreaker (13:28).
6. Union MAX Title Next Challenger Match: Takumi Tsukamoto defeated Isami Kodaka with the Zudon (13:28).

Takumi Tsukamoto now gets a Union MAX Title shot but he has to wait to see who is the champion later this week. Banana Senga will be defending the title against SAGAT in a few days time on 18th April. Tsukamoto said he shares the record for most MAX Title defences in a single reign with Ryota Nakatsu. He wants to be the champion again so he can surpass that record. He feels the pressure to get it done because he beat Isami Kodaka to get here.

Aijin Tag won their preview match against Lil’ Kraken but thought Yasu Urano was more of a threat than their actual next challenger for the IRON FIST Tag Titles.

The Jacket Match ended with both FUMA and Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi strangling each other over the corner ropes with their gi belts wrapped around each other’s necks. Hiroshi lost consciousness first so FUMA was declared the winner by Referee Stoppage.

Today’s court case accused Daichi Kazato of violating the Cannabis Control Law. Banana Senga told Gouma Ryu he heard rumours of Kazato smoking weed in locker rooms night after night. Kazato’s defence was he is only smoking pine weed because he needs alpha-pinene, which is found in pine. Kazato beat Senga in the wrestling portion of the trial to prove his innocence.
