Covid Hits This Weekend’s Shows, Oishi’s Comeback Matches, IPPON Lighttube Match Returns

July 22, 2022

Let’s start off with some good news. When we last heard about Gorgeous Matsuno, he was taking a leave of absence from pro wrestling to become a kidney donor for his partner Junko Tashiro. The treatment is scheduled for the end of August which gave Matsuno a chance to compete in one last Best Body Japan bodybuilding contest. This week he entered the Legend Class (60+ year old) of the Model Japan 2022 Sendai Tournament and won it!

We are now getting Miraclians against Daydream!

DDT “SUMMER VACATION 2022”, 24/07/2022
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

1. Makoto Oishi Return Match: Makoto Oishi & Kazuki Hirata Vs Akito & Yuki Ishida
2. 3 Way Tag Match: Yuji Hino & Yukio Naya Vs Chris Brookes & Antonio Honda Vs Saki Akai & Hideki Okatani
3. Yuki “Sexy” Iino, Danshoku “Dandy” Dieno & Yumehito “Fantastic” Imanari Vs Sanshiro Takagi, Toru Owashi & Gota Ihashi
4. Daisuke Sasaki, MJ Paul & KANON Vs Shinya Aoki, Shunma Katsumata & El Unicorn
5. Tetsuya Endo Return Match ~ Special 6-Man Tag Match: Tetsuya Endo, Jun Akiyama & Yuya Koroku Vs HARASHIMA, Yukio Sakaguchi & Soma Takao
6. DDT Universal Title: Masahiro Takanashi (c) Vs Yusuke Okada
7. KO-D Tag Team Titles: MAO & Asuka (c) Vs Kazusada Higuchi & Naomi Yoshimura

The KO-D Tag Team Champions are ready to defend the belts against all challengers. MAO wants this title reign to start an era where weight class and gender division do not matter. Asuka has been absent from the warm up matches but wants to win the match with her usual groove and vigor. Kazusada Higuchi & Naomi Yoshimura are planning to announce the name of their new tag team on the show. They continue to talk about a “new wind” blowing through DDT which may be a hint.

Yusuke Okada promises that if he wins the DDT Universal Title, he will defend it against Yuki Ueno in a rematch from last January to show how much he has changed since then. Masahiro Takanashi wants this title reign to be different from the previous champions. At first his plan was to defend it against the new generation of DDT wrestlers but now that international travel is possible, he now also wants to defend the belt overseas like it was originally meant to be.

Whenever Tetsuya Endo is about to have an important match he goes to visit Kenta Kobashi for advice. He did the same yesterday looking for words of wisdom so he can get back on his feet. Endo told Kobashi he has completely recovered from his concussion and is back to training with the same intensity as he did before. Kobashi’s opinion is he thinks Endo lacks anger and brings up the story of the shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu. As the legend goes, when Ieyasu was defeated in battle and escaped with his life he immediately got a portrait painted of himself looking defeated to fuel his anger. Kobashi asked Endo to re-watch the match where Katsuhiko Nakajima knocked him out so he can draw out his anger. Kobashi also told him when the time comes it will be necessary for Endo to get his revenge.

Yuki Ueno is off the show with covid. The KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles match was cancelled during the week along with that news. A non-title match with Shinya Aoki substituting Ueno was the replacement match. But now Kojima is sick too so he is getting replaced by El Unicorn.

One year after his back injury, Makoto Oishi is now about to return to the ring. He had a metal fitting removed in June and wanted to go through his rehab as quick as possible so he could wrestle again. He is looking forward to his match but is worried newer fans who hadn’t seen him wrestle before will think he is copying Shunma Katsumata & MAO with his moveset. Oishi also wants to do his best so his two year old daughter Akari will say he looks cool.

Covid also made its way into the Ganbare☆Pro locker room. Ken Ohka tested positive and won’t be able to recover in time for Ganpro’s visit to Osaka. Mizuki Watase takes his place in the main event. A picture made its way online recently showing Watase working out with Thanomsak Toba and Kota Ibushi.

MAO is also added to the show to make up for Ohka’s absence.

YuuRI sent out a challenge to face Cherry to a rematch of their bout from last September.

DDT “ROAD TO PETER PAN 2022 IN YOKOHAMA”, 06/08/2022

1. Special Tag Match: Jun Akiyama & Yuya Koroku Vs Yuji Hino & Makoto Oishi

1. Miyagi Specialty Special Single Match: MAO Vs Makoto Oishi

It’s an NωA reunion for MAO and Oishi. This match was requested by Oishi to take place in Miyagi because it is where he suffered his back injury one year ago. MAO showed some disrespect to Oishi by putting on a Miyagi accent and telling him he never considred Oishi to be his senpai. MAO gave him a challenge. If Oishi can sell 50 more tickets than MAO and also beat him in the match then MAO will show respect and be called his disciple again.

Tokyo Korakuen Hall

1. Special Single Match: Asuka Vs Saki Akai
2. DDT Extreme Title – Fluorescent Lighttube IPPON Death Match: Akito (c) Vs Joey Janela

A classic stipulation makes its return. Akito will defend the DDT Extreme Title against Joey Janela in a single lighttube death match! There will only be one lighttube in the ring. If you smash it over your opponent or if they break it by mistake then you win the match! Akito treats the match stipulation like it is his family heirloom. He considers Janela to be a creative wrestler which is why he chose his “masterpiece” to be the match type. However he noticed Janela never said Akito’s name when he tweeted about his desire to become the Extreme Champion. Akito is trying to look on the bright side. If world class wrestlers are coming to DDT, this is his chance to make a name for himself around the world! Akito also keeps notes on his phone whenever he comes up with a new idea for a match. He currently has 18 different ideas for future title defences.

Suzume versus Pom Harajuku is a first time singles match up between the two.

Miyu Yamashita will be in America during the same weekend as this show.

GANBARE☆PRO “CHUNGKING EXPRESS 2022”, 30/07/2022

2. ROMANCE DAWN Vs The 37KAMIINA: Shota & Soma Takao Vs Shunma Katsumata & Toi Kojima
3. GanPro Osaka Summer Team! Special Tag Match: Yumehito Imanari & Magnitude Kishiwada Vs Ken Ohka & Shinichiro Tominaga

Ganbare☆Pro visits Osaka so Yumehito Imanari can team with the region’s strongest pro wrestler Magnitude Kishiwada! He has a little bit of history with Ken Ohka. The last time he was in Ganpro was in 2018 where he faced Ohka one on one. Kishiwada won the match but Ohka convinced him to do an immediate rematch. Kishiwada won that too but Ohka again demanded another rematch to prove he could still fight over and over until he wins. Maybe that kind of fire will reappear here.

The 37KAMIINA are showing up in Ganpro and ROMANCE DAWN are waiting to meet them in the ring.

A challenge was thrown out by Kouki Iwasaki towards Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie. He wants a tag match against them and is bringing in his local buddy Kazuaki Mihara to be his partner.

Tsuyoshi Okada and Tyson Maeguchi will be on the show.

GANBARE☆PRO “ULTRA SOUL 2022”, 13/08/2022
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

1. ROMANCE DAWN for the new world: Shota Vs Soma Takao
2. Yoshiko Hasegawa Re-Debut Match: Yuna Manase & Yoshiko Hasegawa Vs Moeka Haruhi & YuuRI
3. HARUKAZE 5th Anniversary Match: HARUKAZE Vs Makoto
4. Tatsuhito Takaiwa 30th Anniversary Match: Tatsuhito Takaiwa Vs X
5. Spirit Of Ganbare World Openweight Title: Yumehito Imanari (c) Vs Shigehiro Irie

A comment made in the past is motivating Imanari to prove his doubter wrong. When he was part of a main event in Korakuen Hall back in October 2020, Shigehiro Irie singled him out as the only person in the match underserving of that spot. Now that Imanari has the Spirit Of Ganbare Title, he wants to defend it against Irie in Korakuen to prove him wrong. Irie was surprised to hear the challenge because they haven’t crossed paths that often since that show almost two years ago. He is impressed with Imanari’s new found confidence but warns when you fight Irie, you will lose both your confidence and your championship!

Tatsuhito Takaiwa is celebrating his 30th year as a pro wrestler. His anniversary match has not been decided yet.

There is another wrestling anniversary being celebrated on the show, although it is a lot shorter than Takaiwa’s. Haruka Kato has been wrestling for over a decade but it is her alter ego HARUKAZE who recently reached the 5 year milestone. She asked Makoto to be her opponent for the special occasion. The reason is because after Kato left Stardom, Makoto was the first person to get her a booking despite having never known her previously. Ever since then Kato credits Makoto for keeping her in pro wrestling.

The re-debuting Yoshiko Hasegawa was born in Saitama on 28th February, 1987. She is 150cm tall and weighs 47kg. She originally wrestled for Actwres girl’Z from 2019 to 2020 until a neck injury took her out of action for almost the entirety of 2021. She officially left Actwres right at the end of last year and made her wrestling reappearance at “WRESTLE SEKIGAHARA” earlier this month, signing with Ganbare☆Pro.

Shota will be going on an American excursion this September with not concrete plan on when to return. He decided to take a massive gamble and see if he can make it from scratch as a pro wrestler in America until he is all out of options. He has connections over there but right now has nothing guaranteed for him once he makes the trip. Ganpro is giving him a send off match against his own ROMANCE DAWN partner Soma Takao.

In DNA Yoshimura led a faction called the Naomi Kingdom. Okuda was a member of the unit and Umeda was their biggest rival. DDT agreed to Yoshimura’s request and gathered together a suitable trio of opponents. It’s Yoshimura’s old tag partner HARASHIMA as well as Yukio Sakaguchi & Hideki Okatani from Eruption!

5. The 37KAMIINA Vs Eruption!: Yuki Ueno & Toi Kojima defeated Yukio Sakaguchi & Hideki Okatani when Ueno pinned Okatani with the WR (12:40).
6. Special Tag Match: Kazusada Higuchi & Naomi Yoshimura defeated MAO & Shunma Katsumata when Higuchi pinned Katsumata with the Brain Claw Slam (21:40).

Kazusada Higuchi & Naomi Yoshimura are repeating their claims that there is a new wind blowing in DDT. They want to prove it by winning the KO-D Tag Team Titles from MAO & Asuka but know it won’t be easy. MAO wants everyone to know that a match that would have main evented DNA shows years ago is now headlining DDT events. He and Shunma Katsumata have their own championship aspirations coming up with MAO defending the KO-D Tag Titles and Shunma Katsumata challenging for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles on the same show. Yuki Ueno & Toi Kojima share that goal because they want to raise the heat in DDT.

Yasushi Kanda got dragged into doing Pheromones shenanigans. He refused for most of the match but gave in at the end and positioned himself in the corner with his bare backside sticking out. But as soon as he did that Yuki Iino pinned Kazuki Hirata and Pheromones exited the ring celebrating, leaving Kanda hanging. DISASTER BOX all shamed Kanda afterwards, telling him he can’t possibly go back to Kobe after doing that. Kanda said if he can’t go back then he will take responsibility. Masaaki Mochizuki later found out about it on Twitter and wasn’t happy to see Kanda was wearing a M3K shirt.

Yusuke Okada is threatening to take the DDT Universal Title from Masahiro Takanashi on 24th July and take the championship in a different direction.

4. Tokyo Princess Cup – Round 2: Miyu Yamashita defeated Raku with the Skull Kick (9:23).
5. Tokyo Princess Cup – Round 2: Hikari Noa defeated Yuki Arai with the Blizzard Suplex (10:44).

Day 3 of the Tokyo Princess Cup was the final show of the tripleheader in Ryogoku KFC Hall and also the beginning of Round 2. Only two tournament bouts took place today but were still two of the more anticipated matches on the bracket. In the main event Hikari Noa cut short Yuki Arai’s hopes of going on a blaze through the tournament. A rope break saved Noa from getting pinned with the Finally. She blocked a follow up and rocked Arai with her own Super Kick before pinning her with the Blizzard Suplex. Noa said she was able to win because she desired it more than Arai. She still found Arai to be a scary opponent because she is currently one of the Princess Tag Team Champions. Noa will now face Yuka Sakazaki in the Quarter Final. She respects her so much and promises to do her best to win. Arai is upset not to move up as far as she wanted in the Princess Cup. She said she wants to win the Princess Cup next year.

Two rounds down and Miyu Yamashita is still in the running. She had to go against an unusual battle plan against her to do it. Raku brought a pillow to the ring and took a nap while Yamashita made her entrance. When the match began, a confused Yamashita bent over to see what Raku was doing and got rolled up for a nearfall. Raku continued to use the pillow to distract her opponent and almost beat her again this time with the Hurricane Turn. But it was lights out for Raku instead when Yamashita landed the Skull Kick. Her next opponent is Nao Kakuta in the Quarter Final. She remembers beating her in the first round last year and feels like she has gotten stronger since then. She just needs to stay focused and not let anything distract her. Raku said every time she has a singles match against Yamashita it starts a new turning point in her life because they happen so rarely.

Hyper Misao announced that she and all of the other wrestlers already eliminated from the Princess Cup decided to join forces and launch the second season of ToJo Rangers! It was noticed by Pom Harajuku that not everyone eliminated was in this match but her concern was ignored. Every member of the team was given new Ranger names based on their colours. Misao was Hero Green, Yuki Aino was Passion Red, Pom Harajuku was Harajuku Blue and Kaya Toribami was Persona Black. Their heroic poses kept on becoming distractions to themselves and they lost the match anyway.

6. DDT Universal Title: Masahiro Takanashi (c) Vs Yusuke Okada
7. KO-D Tag Team Titles: MAO & Asuka (c) Vs Kazusada Higuchi & Naomi Yoshimura

Am I sensing some jealousy coming from Daisuke Sasaki? He is accusing The 37KAMIINA of all getting big heads from their recent appearance on a national TV show. He wants to put them in their place and is putting the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles on the line to do so. MJ Paul and Toi Kojima were already meant to face each other in a dark match so they are now bumped up to the main card. KANON is also getting fed up with the enthusiastic energy coming from the sauna boys. Don’t they know you’re supposed to stay quiet in public saunas!

Sanshiro Takagi is not satisfied with just getting the DDT Extreme Title away from Pheromones. He wants to destroy the unit completely and won’t rest until they are done for. Toru Owashi & Gota Ihashi were already scheduled to face them in a tag match so Takagi is now sticking his nose into their business.

3e. Ken Ohka & Mizuki Watase defeated Yumehito Imanari & Tyson Maguchi when Watase pinned Maeguchi with a Vertical Drop Brainbuster (12:30).

During the beginning of the show, Yumehito Imanari nominated his next challenger for the Spirit Of Ganbare Title. He told everyone about something that somebody said to him on 6th October 2020. It was for the main event at Korakuen Hall when this person said Imanari was the only person who did not deserve to be in that spot. Imanari has never forgotten those words or who said it to him. He wants to defend the title in a Korakuen main event against Shigehiro Irie! The next Ganbare☆Pro show in Korakuen is scheduled for 13th August so now Imanari must wait to hear Irie’s response.

The spotlight at the end of the show was shining on someone else. Mizuki Watase came off his momentous win against Eruption at Ota Ward last week to be the deciding factor in today’s Survival Tag Match. Ken Ohka praised him afterward and Watase said he can feel the momentum surrounding Ganpro. He noticed however that Ohka isn’t speaking as much as he normally does and could tell he has a lot he wants to say. Ohka explained he is saving those words for when he wins the Spirit Of Ganbare Title from Imanari.

The Lariat Pro Wrestling Vs Knee Pro Wrestling match featured a montage of songs from famous wrestlers synonymous with Lariats and Knee Striking moves. The action became too much to handle for Shuichiro Katsumura, Shinichiro Tominaga, Keisuke Ishii and Shota because all four were left knocked out by the end of the match resulting in a draw.

Backstage Shota announced he is going on excursion to America this September with no timeframe on when he will return to Japan. While he already knows where he can go looking for bookings over there, nothing is set in stone and there is no guarantee he will be successful. But he is willing to put his life as a pro wrestler on the line for a few months. So for that reason he is taking a one way flight to the USA with the goal of wrestling there until he is exhausted. Until then he will spend August wrestling his remaining matches in Ganpro before going off to chase his dream in America.

Everyone got to learn about HARUKAZE’s history with Makoto when HARUKAZE got on the microphone after their match. She told a story about how she became a recluse after getting injured and leaving Stardom. Then suddenly one day Makoto, who she had never met previously, got in touch and invited her to take part in a show she was on. HARUKAZE said that was the beginning of her rehabiliation and the match she had on that show felt like she was making her debut all over again. Makoto is why HARUKAZE is still a pro wrestler so she asked Makoto to have a singles match together. Makoto admitted she didn’t expect to hear this story and called it a great honour for another wrestler to want a match with her. She accepted the challenge and the match will happen on 13th August. However Makoto warned that she is stronger than HARUKAZE thinks.

6. Tokyo Princess Cup – Round 1: Nao Kakuta defeated Yuki Aino with the Shiden Kai (10:39).
7. Tokyo Princess Cup – Round 1: Rika Tatsumi defeated Yuki Kamifuku with the Missile Hip (12:57).

The winners of today’s Tokyo Princess Cup matches have a little bit of an easier ride in the bracket compared to the rest of the wrestlers in Round 1. Everyone who won today advanced straight into the Quarter Finals taking place on 31st July. Rika Tatsumi closed out the show by beating Yuki Kamifuku, proclaiming it to be her first win on the road to finally winning the tournament. Her failed title challenges on the big stage has only made her more obsessive and is the reason she keeps getting back on her feet time after time. Kamifuku has taken something positive from the match though. She used to fear Tatsumi’s Hip Attacks and would run away from them. This time she became brave enough to stand up to the move despite still losing to it. Tatsumi’s next round opponent will be the winner of Pom Harajuku Vs Suzume taking place on 23rd July.

Yesterday’s 10-Woman Tag Match gave Nao Kakuta all the preparation she needed to figure out Yuki Aino. She learned she has less patience than Aino, who is often calm and thoughtful in the ring. A calm mind is what helped Kakuta beat her today because she didn’t panic when Aino put her in the Full Nelson Of Love And Fire. That gave her time to break out of the hold and land a Cross-Arm DDT to her opponent. The Shiden Kai afterwards resulted in Kakuta going through to the Quarter Final. She will face the winner of Miyu Yamashita Vs Raku taking place tomorrow. Whoever Kakuta face she said she can either climb that wall, smash her way through it or slip around it to the other side.

Yuka Sakazaki is trying to get over losing the Princess Tag Team Titles by aiming to win the Princess Cup. She is using this tournament to get rid of her frustration and Kaya Toribami just happened to be the first person in her way. Toribami knew she was in for a tough match and worked hard to make Sakazaki use her stronger moves. That way Toribami could get a chance to show her own true potential even for just a little bit. Sakazaki will now wait for Hikari Noa Vs Yuki Arai to happen tomorrow to see who she faces next.

This summer could become a summer of important change if Miu Watanabe has anything to say about it. She thinks it is time for her generation to surpass their seniors. It begins with Watanabe herself finding a new way to swing her opponents around. She blocked Arisu Endo’s Waterwheel Drop and turned it into a Giant Swing from a Gutwrench lift! Endo tried fighting back from that but was put away with the Tear Drop. Watanabe won’t know who she faces next until 23rd July when Shoko Nakajima Vs Mizuki takes place.

In one of the non-tournament matches Hyper Misao faked having a left arm injury from the day before while Nakajima acted concerned for her partner. Mizuki didn’t believe her because she saw the match and remembers that Misao’s left arm was never targeted. However during the match Mizuki joined in with Mahiro Kiryu for the Apology Double Knee Drop and both said sorry to Misao for attacking her while she is injured. When Misao made her comeback she shouted she was suddenly feeling better. Nakajima got the hot tag and in the end pinned Kiryu to win.

5. DDT Extreme Title – 3 Vs 1 Handicap Rule: Akito defeated Yuki “Sexy” Iino (c), Danshoku “Dandy” Dieno & Yumehito “Fantastic” Imanari when Akito pinned Dieno with a Cradle (12:57). (Special Referee: Sanshiro Takagi)
*Yuki “Sexy” Iino fails in V3. Akito becomes the 54th DDT Extreme Champion!
6. KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles: Daisuke Sasaki, MJ Paul & KANON (c) defeated Masahiro Takanashi, Chris Brookes & Antonio Honda when KANON submitted Honda with the Just Cobra Twist (19:30).
*V1 for DAMNATION T.A.

Daisuke Sasaki was feeling in a better mood after the main event. DAMNATION T.A defeated the combination of CDK & The Iyasareru so he no longer has to worry about whether or not Antonio Honda deserves to fight for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles. Honda put up a fight and was a difficult opponent for KANON to put away, but he did so in the end. Afterwards Sasaki nominated The 37KAMIINA as the next challengers because they were recent guests on the TV show “The World Unknown To Matsuko”. Sasaki thinks Toi Kojima is getting a big head because he got to be on national TV. He then attacked him but Kojima fought him off with the Kojima Wonderland Full Nelson Buster. Yuki Ueno & Shunma Katsumata joined in to knock both KANON & MJ Paul out of the ring. Kojima accepted the challenge to fight DAMANTION T.A for the 6-Man Tag Titles. KANON decided the match will take place on 24th July and told The 37KAMIINA you’re supposed to be quiet when you enter the sauna!

The DDT Extreme Title is back in the loving arms of Akito! He fought Pheromones in a 3 Vs 1 Handicap. Despite the numbers disadvantage Akito had two things going in his favour. He could beat any member of Pheromones to win the title and Sanshiro Takagi was the special referee. However an extra rule was added that allowed anyone wearing a referee shirt to take over if Takagi was somehow unable to do his job. Takagi is determined to destroy Pheromones so he came up with excuses not to count Yuki Iino’s pinfalls. Pheromones eventually had enough of his behavior and attacked him, causing Yukinori Matsui to run in as the substitute ref. When he only counted two for the Yoropean Clutch, Yumehito Imanari gave him a Low Blow and gave a referee shirt to Danshoku Dieno. The numbers game left Akito on the verge of defeat until Dieno suddenly held up a pin count, deciding Pheromones weren’t done “judging” him yet. Akito then suddenly put Dieno in the Figure 4 Leg Lock and he began submitting. There was no referee so Hisaya Imabayashi tried to intervene but Iino took him out to keep the match going. Imanari then returned wearing his own referee shirt. When all hope was lost, Takagi returned to the ring all patched up. He hit the Stunner to all members of Pheromones and Akito rolled Dieno over with a School Boy to win the match and become champion again!

After the match Takagi swore to destroy Pheromones once and for all on 24th July. A confused Dieno thought he was meant to destroy them today. Akito is distancing himself from that whole situation and accepts that Pheromones should be allowed to express their own style of pro wrestling however they want. Akito wants to take the Extreme highway and be so attached to this championship that the fans will call him Mr. EXTREME! Later in the day, Joey Janela found out about the result and tweeted his desire to fight for the Extreme Title when he comes over to Japan.

Naomi Yoshimura is looking ahead with big plans for himself and Kazusada Higuchi. They want to win the KO-D Tag Team Titles on 24th July so Higuchi can return to Nagoya as a double champion. Yoshimura then said that he wants to work with Kota Umeda at “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2022” on 20th August. That’s not all. He also wants Keisuke Okuda to be involved! He said if you followed DNA at the time all three of them were involved you would know why.

2. 3 Way Match: Mizuki defeated Suzume and Kaya Toribami when Mizuki submitted Toribami with the Face Lock (7:57).
3. Tokyo Princess Cup – Round 1: Pom Harajuku defeated Moka Miyamoto with the Pom de Justice (6:48).
4. Tokyo Princess Cup – Round 1: Yuki Arai defeated Mahiro Kiryu with the Finally (8:00).
5. Tokyo Princess Cup – Round 1: Shoko Nakajima defeated Haruna Neko with the Unmanned Local Train Hold (11:15).
6. Tokyo Princess Cup – Round 1: Miyu Yamashita defeated Hyper Misao with the Crash Rabbit Heat (15:47).

The first batch of Tokyo Princess Cup opening round matches were held today in Ryogoku KFC Hall. The main event was between two women who both felt bad luck following them into the tournament. Miyu Yamashita always has unlucky results in the Princess Cup while Hyper Misao felt unlucky having to go against her right away. Yamashita cheated by tying Yamashita’s feet together and spraying her in the face whenever the opportunity to get away with it presented itself. Yamashita soon freed herself and forced her opponent into a wrestling match. Misao got a nearfall with the Hypami Returns but Yamashita fired back with the Attitude Adjustment. She then dusted off the Crash Rabbit Heat to win. Yamashita admitted to feeling bullish but today’s win against an opponent like Misao is big for her. Using the Crash Rabbit Heat again may be the key to finally break through her tournament curse. Misao said she will use what she learned from fighting Yamashita and apply it to her future opponents.

It’s no surprise that Shoko Nakajima is off to a winning start by beating Haruna Neko. She expected Neko to give it her all and was prepared for it. The results was a solid effort from Nakajima without giving too much away for the next round. Neko said she is frustrated she couldn’t get anywhere against Nakajima. However she hopes she can use the frustration as food for growth from now on.

The good times are continuing for Yuki Arai. Her win today over Mahiro Kiryu means she is already doing better than her first Princess Cup appearance from last year. She promised to keep trying her best to get results is singles matches to go along with her recent success as a tag team wrestler. It was her first match since winning the Princess Tag Team Titles and she admitted she hasn’t figured out the best way to wear her title belt yet. But she is happy to show it off to everyone. Kiryu thought she was going to be the better fighter than Arai and fought with the intention of challenging for the Tag Titles down the line. She underestimated how tenacious Arai is and regrets not finishing her off in the match when she had the chance.

Pom Harajuku attempted to mimic Karate to try and intimidate Moka Miyamoto at the start of their match. She was in danger when Miyamoto applied the Rashomon but a rope break saved her. Harajuku was then able to hit the Pom de Justice to win and advance to Round 2. Harajuku said she is going to blast through the competition. Miyamoto is disappointed to get eliminated in the first round again.

Today’s winners all advance to Round 2 of the bracket. The matches for that round are split off into two separate shows. The 18th July show has Yamashita against Raku and Arai against Hikari Noa. The 23rd July show is where Nakajima will face Mizuki and Harajuku will take on Suzume.
