A press conference was held at DDT HQ to promote the show today. It is confirmed that Mike Bailey will cash in his Right To Challenge contract to get a KO-D Openweight Title match against Konosuke Takeshita. Bailey was cheerful to a patronising degree. He described Takeshita’s perfect haircut, posture and clothing. Then he talked about wanting to be not just the greatest foreign wrestler ever in DDT but the greatest in DDT, full stop. He thinks everyone will agree when he beats Takeshita for the championship. Takeshita thinks this will be the most difficult title defence yet but he is also aware that Naomi Yoshimura could cash in his own title shot at any time during or after the match. Bailey then heaped more praise to the champion, saying he’s been watching videos and looking at pictures of him for years. Bailey said Takeshita is perfect. He thinks will still beat him, he just doesn’t know how. That led to Takeshita asking why Bailey has been applauding him so much in their matches recently. Bailey explained that where he’s from whenever a strong opponent appears you show him respect. Takeshita finished the call by saying the match is Japan Vs Canada. The international battle will help spread DDT across the globe so that means he will show everyone what a strong champion he is because he is fighting the toughest opponent in the world.

DDT’s first visit to Taiwan was declared to be DDT’s first step to advance across the world. At the end of the show Sanshiro Takagi announced at formation of a DDT Taiwan branch office. Takagi said he loves the people in Taiwan, he wants to wrestle there again and DDT will definitely come back. Rekka tearfully thanked the fans in Chinese for coming to see the show.

Takagi entered his match with Cholesterol Takuya singing “NODOWAZIME ~Nodowa Shime~”. Saki Akai came out afterwards accompanied by two cosplayers who were modelled after her. Danshoku Dino claimed he was going to turn Taiwan into a Gay Town if his team won. However Takuya interfered and Choke Slammed Makoto Oishi, leading Takagi’s team to victory.

This show was Yoshihiro Takayama’s fourth trip to Taiwan. However he and Kazusada Higuchi are giving their full attention to their match against Masakatsu Funaki & Yukio Sakaguchi at “OSAKA OCTOPUS 2016”.

A Nitoru mattress was placed in the ring for the Sleep Prevention Death Match. The winner was whoever could make his opponent fall asleep on the mattress for three seconds. Both Antonio Honda and Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi were battling jetlag and kept slamming each other onto the mattress. Yukinori Matsui was knocked onto the mattress at one point and fell asleep instantly. He eventually woke up and Hiroshi gave Honda a Diving Cross Body onto the mattress to win. Hiroshi was awarded with a 100,000 New Taiwan dollar shopping voucher and also the mattress.

KUDO & Yoshihiko were given movie tickets as a prize for winning Match #2.

The beautiful opponents for Bambi & Manami Kanda come from Ice Ribbon. Yumehito Imanari isn’t impressed even though the match was his idea. He likes his women to be bigger than Maya Yukihi & Tequila Saya so he’s rooting for Bambi & Kanda.

Sasadango Ill, Kawamura Injured, Shin Ganbare Created

My best wishes go out to Super Sasadango Machine for a healthy recovery. He was taken off last Sunday’s Korakuen Hall show with poor health as the reason. A few days later DDT announced that a check up in a hospital found out he is suffering from a mild heart disease. His physician said rest is necessary and he will not be able to wrestle again until further notice. Some of the card changes as the result of this can be seen below.

The folks at Ganbare☆Wrestling had some time to relax after their successful Korakuen Hall debut but now a familiar threat has returned in new clothing. Osamu Namiguchi suddenly announced this week he is creating his own pro wrestling group called Shin Ganbare☆Wrestling (シン・ガンバレ☆プロレス)! The use of Shin (シン) in this name does not mean “new”, it means “thin” as in “Thin Godzilla” from the new kaiju movie. Namiguchi thinks Ganpuro is fake like Hollywood’s Godzilla but Shin Ganpuro will be pure just like “Thin Godzilla”. Shin Ganpuro’s debut will take place on 12th November in Tokyo BASEMENT MON☆STAR at the same time as the normal Ganpuro’s scheduled show. It will only consist of one match and Namiguchi challenged Ken Ohka & Yumehito Imanari to a tag team match. Namiguchi has a mystery partner for the occasion. Ohka accepted and the match will also technically be the main event of the normal Ganpuro show.

Dino nominated Ishii as his first DDT Extreme Title challenger because of the funk he’s been in since Team Drift split up. Dino thinks this match will help Ishii out somehow.

Although Hirata was never a member of Team Drift, Takao considers him a friend and thinks a match with him for the title would be emotional. Takao is hoping to defend the title in both DDT and All Japan.

Endo says he has nothing but gratitude for Sasaki ever since he was invited to join DAMNATION. Sasaki is continuing to call the rest of the DDT roster “B Grade Garbage Wrestlers”. However he admires Yuko Miyamoto.

LiLiCo has a bunch of suiters looking for her hand in marriage so they can become famous. Dino came up with the bright idea to have a winner takes all match between the potential grooms. In a twist, Suguru Miyatake convinced Amon Tsurumi to add Dino to the match to wrestle on his behalf. Miyatake is not fit to go back to the ring but is desperate to become famous… I mean marry LiLiCo because he loves her or whatever.

Iron Man Update, MC.33 Coming To BASARA, Ganbare Prepares For Korakuen

Time for an update on the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title’s tour of America. When we last left the belt it was being held by Ricochet, you know the guy from that gif? No, not the English fella the other one. Yeah him. Since then the title lineage went like this: Brian Metz, Matt Striker, Cheerleader Melissa (by massage), Matt Cross (via too much food), Brian Cage, Joey Ryan, Laura James (as burlesque luchadora Alacrana Plata #2), Buggy Nova (in a proper wrestling match!), Ryan again (not in a proper wrestling match), Scarlett Bordeaux, Rhyno (traded an autograph for the title) and now Robbie E (his win counts as a Ladder Match). Last one is interesting because it’s a TNA guy beating someone who just appeared on an NXT broadcast. So yeah, this championship of all things is now providing the inter-promotional competition some fans have craved for years.

Ohka was told this was done recently by Kuishinbo Kamen at Shin-Kiba 1st RING but he is not deterred by that. Ohka has hundreds of ideas like having chairs placed in the arena balconies. He thinks they can fill thousands more people that way.

It seems that Yumehito Imanari and Bambi have sorted out their problems and are willing to team together. Imanari is thrilled by this news. This Hardcore match is put together to show Osaka what Ganpuro is all about. Each wrestler will have a weapon with them for the match. Bambi has her whip and Imanari is bringing a lot of candy.

Mitomi Masayuki is becoming obsessed over Mars Spector. He wants to avenge Shibata’s loss to Spector and is determined to fight him again and again and again until he wins. His stablemate Rainbow Kawamura offered to help. An enemy of Enjo-gun is his enemy too.

Iron Man Updates, DNA 18, Super Star Lane, Road To Ryogoku

If you’ve lost track of the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title’s tour of America, here’s the list of champions since it left Japan up until 25th June. Joey Ryan, Rey Mysterio Jr., Ryan again (Rey fell asleep), Chuck Taylor (won it in a proper wrestling match), Scott Hall (won Rock-Paper-Scissors for the right to pin Chuck), Colt Cabana (officially with the dreaded Trapezius Nerve Hold), Ryan once more, Kikutaro (shitty weight spotter), Laura James (via seduction), Bunny (Laura’s pet cat), Ryan Nemeth (bribed the cat), Taya Valkyrie, John Morrison and now as of 25th June Ricochet. Title changes have been happening daily and videos are uploaded to Joey Ryan’s Twitter account and Youtube page. There are certainly more to come.

Shigehiro Irie’s final DDT match for now involves his closest allies and rivals. He’s teaming with Yukio Sakaguchi because they rarely if not ever wrestled together on the same side. He’s fighting HARASHIMA because he ultimately wants to surpass him. Keisuke Ishii is also there because of their close ties together in Team Drift. They were champions together but now go their separate ways.

As one of the few remaining Right To Challenge holders, Kouki Iwasaki is in a dangerous position going up against a fresh out of retirement Dick Togo.

Dick Togo and Reika Saiki are scheduled to wrestle on the show. Shigehiro Irie will not due to his excursion to America.

Shigehiro Irie Planning USA Excursion

Shigehiro Irie held a press conference in the DDT’s Shinjuku office today to announce he will be going on an indefinite excursion to America later this month. DDT GM Amon Tsurumi explained that Irie approached him after Sunday’s show requesting the excursion. Tsurumi told him he is needed in DDT and he would be in better company by staying with them instead of travelling overseas. Irie has unique personality that is both intense and cute according to Tsurumi, losing Irie would be a big blow for DDT. However Irie’s intention to go through with the plan convinced Tsurumi to reconsider.

Irie explained his decision to leave. Ever since Team Dream Futures broke up Irie made it his goal to win this year’s King Of DDT tournament as an individual. He put everything into his tournament run but was eliminated in the semi-final by the eventual tournament winner Shuji Ishikawa. Irie was devastated by the loss and had to reexamine his current abilities. If he wants to get stronger as both a wrestler and a human he would have to start training outside of Japan. He admits this is a selfish decision. Irie’s send-off match for DDT takes place on 17th July in Korakuen Hall. He teams with Yukio Sakaguchi to take on HARASHIMA and Keisuke Ishii. Those wrestlers were chosen because Irie has a strong connection with all three of them. Ishii is a close friend and former teammate, HARASHIMA is who Irie wants to ultimately overtake and Sakaguchi is an opponent he doesn’t think he has teamed with before. His date of return hasn’t been decided but DDT confirmed he will miss “PETER PAN 2016” in August.

Irie hasn’t decided what his plans in America are yet. He has not decided where to stay or where to wrestle but he is studying English little by little. He can say the seasons and days of the week in English, also most of the months. He says he likes American wrestling and WCW was his favourite. Tsurumi agrees and said his favourite wrestler was Disco Inferno. Irie said he was hooked when he saw La Parka’s entrance for the first time. Irie joked he will come back to Japan as Disco Inferno. Tsurumi said he would then just be like Kazuki Hirata and it will be better if he comes back as Goldberg. Irie’s goal is to come back having grown as a human being.

The Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title tour of America moved to Des Moines, Iowa last night where Joey Ryan defended the title against Colt Cabana and Chuck Taylor for F1RST Wrestling. Chuck Taylor won the match to become the new champion but then Scott Hall showed up! Taylor got knocked out then Hall beat Ryan in a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors to determine who should pin Taylor. 2016 wrestling is weird.

LiLiCo has demanded her DDT Extreme Title defence to be held in a Stockholm Style Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Death Match. Both LiLiCo and Makoto Oishi will have somebody accompany them in the match, for LiLiCo it is her boyfriend Mizuki Watase. The goal is to kiss your partner in the ring for 5 seconds straight. Oishi’s partner for the match is currently unknown but Watase said he tried to invite Oishi’s ex-wife! Watase also said he is applying for a passport so he can visit Sweden with LiLiCo and meet her relatives.

Ken Ohka is frustrated that DDT isn’t promoting him and KAI challenging for the KO-D Tag Team Championship. KAI is currently injured and he status for the match isn’t guaranteed. Ohka assures everyone that KAI will be fit in time.
