Even though Isami Kodaka won this year’s Heaven Summit ~Itadaki~, he gave the prize money over to Minoru Fujita so he could produce his own BASARA show. Fujita came up with the idea of a team challenge called “Banquet Fight 2019” between himself and Kodaka. A partial card has been made after the two teams were drafted by the captains. Due to an odd number of wrestlers available, Fujita’s team is one man short so the missing name in the main event is a mystery for now.

International Princess Title, Other Princess Championships Get Renamed

July 16, 2019

In a bid to expand Tokyo Joshi Pro’s presence around the world some changes have been made to the promotion’s range of championships. First, the current existing championships have been slightly renamed. The “TOKYO” part of the names have been dropped which means the main singles championship is now called the Princess Of Princess Title and the tag belts are called the Princess Tag Team Titles. The reason for this is to present the belts as more global championships.

Here is the second announcement. Because some members of the roster are getting chances to wrestle overseas and more foreign women are visiting Japan to wrestle in Tokyo Joshi, a decision was made to create a brand new singles championship! The International Princess Title belt is currently being produced with plans to crown its first champion later this summer.

Also in order to widen the selection process across the roster, Tokyo Joshi purposely avoided picking women who have been in Princess Title matches this year. The four women picked are Rika Tatsumi, Yuna Manase, Natsumi Maki and Yuki Kamifuku.

Chris Brookes is calling Konosuke Takeshita a boring wrestler. He even felt a little disappointed when he watched Takeshita win the KO-D Openweight Title in the main event yesterday. Takeshita in response calls Brookes the UK’s best wrestler, but then called himself the world’s best wrestler. Before this match takes places, Takeshita will be wrestling in Hindmarsh, Australia for Sub-Zero Pro this Friday. His goal is to win the title there and collect championships from around the world until the Olympics begin.

Akito has nominated Jiro Kuroshio as the next challenger for the DDT Extreme Title. However Kuroshio is already booked on this show so there is no date decided yet for the title match. Akito would like the match to take place on 3rd August at Beer Garden week.

Sanshiro Takagi wants revenge on Yumehito Imanari for revealing his phone number during yesterday’s Weapon Rumble. Takagi was still getting phone calls in the middle of the night. Imanari said the prank is opening up new opportunities for DDT because every company now knows where to call Takagi.

Makoto Oishi is being moved to the 3 Way Tag match since he has partnered up with Yukio Naya before. He is being replaced by Saki Akai in the product placement match.

That is not a mistake. Akito wants Yuki Ueno to be wrestling on both teams. Akito is not in his own Marunage match because he thinks his only responsibility is to produce it. Ueno regularly teams with Naomi Yoshimura but also regularly trains with Takeshita. Oh, there is also the fact that Yoshimura and Takeshita don’t get along. This is a good three way relationship for Akito to experiment which is why he made this match.

But we will likely find out on the next “Road To Fight For The Fallen” video that will be posted to Youtube in the next day or two. Nakajima apologises to the TJPW fans for missing the show but explains that this is a massive opportunity for her to become an even stronger Big Kaiju.

Yoshiaki Yatsu News

July 2, 2019

In sad news it was revealed this morning that Yoshiaki Yatsu has had his right foot amputated due to diabetes. Yahoo Japan/Weekly FLASH interviewed Yatsu from his hospital bed a few days after his surgery happened. Yatsu intends to get an artificial foot so he can walk again. At 62 years old, Yatsu joined DDT in April for a return to pro wrestling alongside Japan’s preparations for the 2020 Olympic Games. He came in with the intention of having one match a month but discovered problems in his right foot on 23rd June. Yatsu said he was diagnosed with diabetes when he was 35 and he used medication to keep it under control. On 25th June he had the surgery to get his foot amputated. DDT announced Yatsu’s absence from “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2019” on 27th June but his situation was kept private by all parties until today. Sanshiro Takagi tweeted that he wants to help Yatsu and DDT sends him their support during his rehabilitation.

The IPPON Fluorescent Lighttube Death Match is back. Akito’s specialty death match features only one lighttube and the goal is to break it over your opponent or throw them through it. It is something Asuka has never been in before which is what Akito promised when he was choosing what kind of match they should have.

DDT has put together a collaboration with snack food companies Calbee and Frito Lay. Calbee is celebrating its 70th year in business this year as well as the 10th anniversary of their partnership with Frito Lay. DDT will host a special match sponsored by the companies that will also promote their new brand of Dragon Potato crisps. The match will feature the debut of two masked wrestlers on opposite teams: King Potato Chips (orange mask) and Dragon Potato Mask (blue mask). Dragon Potato is a fan of Ricky Steamboat and his moves include the Dragon Potato Sleeper and the Dragon Potato Suplex. He also does the Dragon Potato Ring In jump when he enters the ring. King Potato Chips doesn’t know what his moves are because none were written on his script and he wasn’t able to improvise any pun names.

In completely unrelated news, Antonio Honda and Toru Owashi will not be at the show. Honda has family responsibilities that day and Owashi will be busy with his part time job as a pool guard.

Hideki Suzuki will be on the show.

Sanshiro Takagi is on the card and he has Super Sasadango Machine to thank for it. Maybe TAJIRI too. There was a tweet from TAJIRI sent over the weekend talking about how there are different tiers of wrestling as an art form. Sasadango was offended on Takagi’s behalf when TAJIRI labelled comedy wrestling as third rate, although Takagi does not think for a moment that he was the intended target of that opinion. Even if this is a misunderstanding, Sasadango wants a match with Takagi at DDT’s biggest show of the year to prove that Takagi is anything but a third rate wrestler. He is even taking himself out of the Battle Royal to put this match together. Takagi is grateful for the opportunity and asks that their match will be a Weapon Rumble!

That’s not all, Sasadango brought up that there are now many pro wrestlers who are active in their forties including himself, Takagi and TAJIRI. He wants to inspire the DDT fans from the same age group that they can still do their best. To do this there should be a new championship. There used to be a U-30 Title for wrestlers under thirty years olds to fight over, now there should be an O-40 Title for the wrestlers over forty! Takagi thinks the idea is interesting and agrees that the winner of their match will become the first champion. After all, Takagi wants his pro wrestling to change everyone’s life and he also still wants to be a champion. Sasadango also suggested that the loser should reply to TAJIRI’s tweet.

DDT returns to the Tokyo Ido Festival and they are bringing the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title with them. Whoever the champion is has to be at the festival to defend the belt.
