The 3rd D-Ou Grand Prix begins with the reigning KO-D Openweight Champion winning in the main event. HARASHIMA’s opening day opponent was Yukio Sakaguchi. HARASHIMA blocked the God’s Right Knee with the Somato but a follow up Somato was dodged. Sakaguchi caught HARASHIMA in the Sleeper Hold and alomst choked him out. But HARASHIMA lifted Sakaguchi up in a piggyback and dropped him onto his head to break free. HARASHIMA then hit the Somato for the victory. He said this match and the Masato Tanaka match are especially important for him. He cleared one of them today so he is confident he has the momentum to win the Grand Prix!
Speaking of Tanaka, he expected Soma Takao to put up a tough fight because he is a KO-D Tag Team Champion. There were times when Tanaka provoked Takao to put more strength behind his Elbow Strikes. Takao did get one up on his opponent by dodging the Sliding D then rolling him around in the Official Endless Waltz. But Tanaka kicked out and prevented Takao from hitting either the Gin And Tonic or the Reverse Gory Special Bomb. Tanaka countered the Gin And Tonic into a Sunset Flip then popped Takao with the Sliding D to win the match. Tanaka’s next match is against Daisuke Sasaki tomorrow. He heard Sasaki has charisma but does it compare to the charisma of Jun Kasai or Atsushi Onita? Tanaka will find out tomorrow.
Chris Brookes doesn’t get along with the Sendai Girls. So it was fitting that his first match of the tournament was against the promotion’s champion Chihiro Hashimoto. Brookes lit up Hashimoto’s chest with Chops and and locked in the Octopus Stretch but it was the difference in strength that decided the match. Hashimoto got out of the Octopus by using a Back Flip, hit a Lariat then pinned Brookes with the Albright German Suplex. Hashimoto greeted the DDT fans and said it’s been a long time since she previously wrestled here. It doesn’t matter if she is against a man or a woman, she will be the one standing tall at the end! Brookes didn’t want to admit it but he warned the rest of the A Block to be careful against Hashimoto.
The two ALL OUT members entering the Grand Prix faced off in their first match. Yuki Iino is fresh off of challenging for the KO-D Title. Unfortunately his run begins with a loss to the previous KO-D Champion Konosuke Takeshita. For this match Takeshita used a Michinoku Driver II to pin Iino. He says it is not supposed to be a secret finishing move, it was just the last thing he could think of when the German Suplex didn’t work. When Takeshita uses the move he wants it to be called the Nishinari Driver. Iino believes his power comes from the Haka Elbow so he will aim to use the move early in his next match.
Bull James returned to DDT and sent a big message by toppling over the young powerhouse Naomi Yoshimura. Lariats were thrown until James grabbed Yoshimura and threw him over with a T-Bone Suplex. Not even Yoshimura could kick out of the Doink Drop afterwards. James said he will knock down everybody in his block. However he did have good words to say about Yoshimura and told him he is the future of DDT.
The opening bout of the tournament turned out to be a pretty big upset. Yuki Ueno dodged Keisuke Ishii’s Pink Kneel Kick then used a Headscissors to cradle Ishii into a three count pin. Ishii was disappointed to lose as the Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Champion. Ueno said nobody thought he would beat Ishii today. He’ll do it again and beat Hashimoto tomorrow.
In one of the non-tournament matches Keigo Nakamura vanished only to reappear wearing an Ultraman head crest. It gave him the power to fire head rays at his opponents but Kazuki Hirata blocked it with his hand sword. Nakamura got the better of him but missed a Superhero Diving Body Press. Hirata rolled him up for the victory.

HARASHIMA’s first defence for his latest KO-D Openweight Title got off to a good start with a victory over Yuki Iino. The challenger used the Bubba Bomb and the Haka Elbow but couldn’t put HARASHIMA away. He went for the Spear but HARASHIMA blocked it with a Standing Somato. When both got back up they got into a Elbow Smash battle that ended with Iino throwing a Headbutt. However HARASHIMA hit back with a Spin Kick to the face that knocked Iino down. HARASHIMA used a Buzzsaw Kick to set up the match ending Somato. The champion called Iino a great opponent he wants to face again and again. He called Iino a TV star but HARASHIMA also appeared on a TV drama recently so he thinks that cancelled out Iino’s advantage. HARASHIMA won’t have any more title defences for the rest of the year. His next DDT Extreme Title defence will be on 12th January and his next KO-D Title defence is on 26th January. For now HARASHIMA will concentrate on winning the D-Ou Grand Prix.
Today was the most under threat DAMNATION have been towards losing the KO-D Tag Team Titles. As the match progressed problems grew between Daisuke Sasaki and Soma Takao. Thanks to the craftiness of Masahiro Takanashi, he would make Sasaki bump into Takao over and over until Takao had enough and he turned on Sasaki! After smashing Sasaki with an Elbow Strike, Takao left the ring in anger. Sasaki had to fight his opponents mostly on his own but Tetsuya Endo did what he could from ringside to prevent Sasaki from losing. Endo gave a chair to Sasaki which caused Takao to come back and grab it off him. However Takao then hit Takanashi with the chair and all was good again with DAMNATION! The match became 2 Vs 2 again. Sasaki pulled Takanashi out of the ring while Takao blocked the Praying Mantic Bomb from Chris Brookes. From there Takao used the Official Endless Waltz to cradle Brookes into pins until he finally got a three count. Backstage Takao says he has not forgiven Sasaki yet but Sasaki doesn’t care. Today proved that they can win matches even if their friendship is broken. They are one more title defence away from taking their team to the next level. But first they have to worry about the D-Ou GP where they just happen to be in the same block. Brookes told Takanashi not to worry about the loss because CDK are only a new team. They will get another shot at the titles some day.
The team of Antonio Honda & Miyu Yamashita took on a new challenge when they faced Konosuke Takeshita & Jiro Kuroshio. Honda complained that Kuroshio was wearing a nice jacket while he wrestled. Yamashita faked an injury along with Honda after a leapfrog spot but took the match seriously when she faced off with Takeshita. She gave Takeshita a German Suplex but he immediately fired back with a Lariat. Honda stripped Kuroshio of his jacket but struggled to put it on himself. When he wound up his hands for the Bionic Elbow they got entangled by the jacket. That gave Kuroshio the chance to knock him down and pin him with the Moonsault Press. Takeshita told Kuroshio he wants to wrestle him again no matter if it is in DDT, America or even the health center were they hung out at. Kuroshio joked that it will probably be at the health center. They hugged and vowed to reunite in the future.
Saki Akai’s first match in her “Okibariyasu” Series ended in a loss to Tsukasa Fujimoto. But she can be happy to know she put up a good fight. Akai couldn’t hit the Quetzalcoatl and it took Fujimoto two attempts to hit the Japanese Ocean Cyclone Suplex. Fujimoto intentionally used the move because Akai said in an interview that she wanted to wrestle Manami Toyota. When you wrestle Fujimoto, you also wrestle Toyota in spirit. Akai will take what she has learned and use them along with her emotions for the next match. Opponent #2 in her series will be Sakura Hirota and that match will be on 28th December.
The rookie Keigo Nakamura took the microphone before his match and told everyone his dream is to win a championship. He figured out the fastest way to do this is to go for the KO-D Tag Team Titles with Shinya Aoki because of Aoki’s KO power. He asked Aoki if he wanted to do that but Aoki’s answer was “Who are you?” Their match began and Danshoku Dieno got his hands on Nakamura while Aoki fought with Super Sasadango Machine. Sasadango escaped from Aoki’s Sleeper Hold by slipping out of his mask. Dieno then gave Aoki the Lip Lock and the Danshoku Driver to set up something even more expected. Sasadango hit the three Lehmann Shocks and pinned Aoki! Sadadango reappeared later in the show and asked for a singles match with Aoki on 28/12 to figure out if this was a fluke or if he reall does have potential to be a serious pro wrestler.
The dream has come true for Michiaki Nakano. He has finally won the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title! If only for a minute. He didn’t win the Battle Royal despite bribing the other wrestlers thousands and thousands of yen to help him beat up Kazuki Hirata. However Hirata beat the odds and eliminated every one of his opponents to win the match. Things looked to be peaceful after the match until Nakano gave Hirata the Rainmaker and went for the pin. Hirata kicked out at one. Makoto Oishi then hit Hirata with the title belt and Nakano jumped onto Hirata before Oishi could for the title change. Nakano celebrated until Oishi rolled him up for the three count and ran off with the belt.
Now that Nobuhiro Shimatani has gone freelance, somebody has to carry around the DAMNATION signboard. Endo ended up doing it today. Somehow the sign is now upside down. It’s not all bad. He and Mad Paulie won the 4 Way Tag.
Kazusada Higuchi will return to the ring on 28th December. He has been out of action since September.
Hirata’s 10th Anniversary show will take place on 14th March, 2020.

DDT “BOOKSTORE PRO WRESTLING AGAIN”, 23/11/2019

11 years ago DDT held a pro wrestling match inside of the Inoo Book Store in Tokyo. It was one of the earliest times DDT put together a Street Pro Wrestling match. Today to celebrate the launch of Sanshiro Takagi’s new book it was time to go back to Inoo and do it all again!
The participants entered the book store all wearing the employee aprons. Yuki Ueno and Shunma Katsumata started off the match. They tagged in Naomi Yoshimura and Yukio Naya to do some power spots inside the room. Then Takagi and Shinya Aoki tagged in and traded holds until Aoki got a nearfall with a European Clutch.
With the opening tradeoffs out of the way it was time to take the match outside. Takagi and Aoki brawled down a side street while Ueno threw Katsumata into the store’s wall. Ueno and Katsumata fought up a stairway and Ueno Suplexed Katsumata down the steps.
Takagi and Aoki found nearby chairs and had a duel in the middle of the street. Aoki invited Keigo Nakamura to help him out but Nakamura’s High Kick hit Aoki as well as Takagi. Aoki took out his anger on Nakamura by choking him out next to a vending machine.
Naya brought out a table and placed both Yoshimura and Takagi on top of it. He held them down so Katsumata could climb a ladder and hit a Diving Double Knee Drop on them through the table! Katsumata went for the pin but Ueno broke it up with a chair.
Ueno then climbed on top of a vending machine and did a Moonsault onto everyone below.
Katsumata climbed onto a book rack to do a dive of his own but Takagi caught him with a Stunner on the way down.
Takagi placed the chairs together and threw Katsumata down onto them with the Himawari Bomb for the three count.
After the match Takagi thanked Aoki for coming to take part. Aoki flew in from Singapore just 2 hours before the match took place. Takagi also thanked the book store for letting them wrestle inside. He thanked the book company for releasing his new book and got everyone to chant for a reprint. Around 50 or 60 people showed up so Takagi thinks that is around 180,000 yen in book sales so far. But he doesn’t care about that right now. He now wants Bookstore Pro Wrestling to be an annual event!

1. Mizuki, Yuki Aino & Mirai Maiumi defeated Yuna Manase, Yuki Kamifuku & Mahiro Kiryu when Aino pinned Kiryu with the Side Suplex (11:02).
2. 1 Vs 2 Handicap Match: Miyu Yamashita defeated Haruna Neko & Pom Harajuku when Yamashita pinned Neko with the Attitude Adjustment (6:48).
3. Misao defeated Suzume with the Libera Me (6:21).
4. Hikari Noa & Mina Shirakawa defeated Maki Itoh & Raku when Noa pinned Raku with the Uranage (11:47).
5. Sakisama Vs Rika Tatsumi ended in a No Contest when Misao interfered (10:23).
6. Yuka Sakazaki & Shoko Nakajima defeated Miu Watanabe & Nodaka Tenma when Nakajima pinned Tenma after the Malmö Comians (12:06).
Shoko Nakajima returns from Mexico full of confidence. Her first move back in Japan was pulling off a successful Miraclians reunion with Yuka Sakazaki. The two used their Malmö Comians double team move to get the win. Nakajima wants to make full use out of what she learned in Mexico for Tokyo Joshi Pro. Also she hated the toilets in Mexico.
The match between Sakisama and Rika Tatsumi went awry when Tatsumi missed a Hip Attack and hit the referee by mistake. Misao entered the ring to help Sakisama but her Jumping Knee Attack missed Tatsumi and hit Sakisama instead. Misao then attacked Tatsumi but Tatsumi held onto her. When the referee got back up and tried to separate them he was pushed away. He then called off the match. Sakisama is now sick of having to deal with Misao’s problem with Tatsumi. She stormed out of the ring, leaving Misao behind. Embarrassed by what happened, Misao challenged Tatsumi to a singles match. Tatsumi accepted but wants the match to be held on 30th November. Tatsumi told everyone this is her last chance to bring Hyper Misao back.
Hikari Noa challenged Maki Itoh for the International Princess Title. Itoh told her they had a match over a month ago and Itoh beat her then. Noa then said she originally wanted to challenge Natsumi Maki when she became the first champion but wasn’t confident enough at the time. Now she has changed and her goal is to win the title and defend it against Maki when she returns from injury. Her story convinced Itoh to change her mind and accept the challenge. She wants the match to be held at a “sunny stage” so it will be at Korakuen Hall on 4th January!

So much preparation went into today’s show. Sanshiro Takagi wanted four Current Blast baseball bats and Atsushi Onita demanded that the gunpowder within them be tripled so the explosions would be even more powerful than advertised. Asuka and FUMA won the qualifying matches to enter the main event but Onita then demanded that the losers Yukio Naya and Yumehito Imanari also be included in the match. This was the debut Bakuha Koshien show so Onita wanted to give everyone the chance to experience this match.
There was a switch on one of the corner posts that needed to be pressed when a wrestler wanted to use a Current Blast bat. The first explosion came when Takagi swung the bat at Onita in the corner. Imanari jumped in and took the blow, shielding Onita from the blast. Onita put FUMA through a table with a Piledriver but Shinya Aoki cut him off with a Sleeper Hold. Naya held onto Onita for Aoki to hit with a bat for the next explosion. Aoki put Kenichiro Arai in a Jumping Cross Armbreaker before turning his attention back to Onita. Suddenly Onita sprayed Aoki’s face with red Mist! Asuka then held Aoki for Onita to hit with an explosive bat. Onita used the Mist again this time to blind Naya. Asuka Moonsaulted onto Naya then Onita hit him once more with a blast bat, the biggest explosion yet before pinning him to win.
Onita did his usual kind of speech after the match before calling for Naya’s attention. Naya told him this wasn’t the end between them and he wanted to do another Current Blast match. Onita thanked the sponsors and gave his match prize to Naya. He then threw his water at everyone to close the show.
In his qualifying match, Imanari copied Onita’s famous entrance with the chair and cigarette from the 1999 Tokyo Dome match against Masahiro Chono.

Just because Ken Ohka was back in his hometown of Nanto City doesn’t mean his opponents treated him with respect. They did the opposite, scribbling on his face with marker during an out of the ring brawl in the main event. Antonio Honda used Gongitsune to even the odds, getting Super Sasadango Machine to unmask himself so he would be vulnerable to an Eye Poke. Konosuke Takeshita turned Gongitsune on Honda and made Honda pinch himself in the nipple. Sasadango attempted the three Lehmann Shocks but Ohka fought out of the combo and hit a Vertical Drop Brainbuster. From there Ohka pinned Sasadango with the Fire Spear.
Makoto Oishi attacked Toru Owashi at the end of the show in a bid to win the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title. Owashi fought him off until Kazuki Hirata pinned him with a School Boy from out of nowhere.
The string of victories continues for Yuki Iino. He wasn’t able to pin HARASHIMA but he still appreciates how important a result like today’s is for his KO-D Openweight Title match on the 24th. Iino used a Reverse Bubba Bomb for the first time in today’s match. He wants to make it more crisp before he considers it ready for the title bout. But when he perfects it he thinks that move along with the Spear can make him the champion. HARASHIMA admits Iino is strong but also sees a lot of holes in his wrestling that he can attack.
Masahiro Takanashi posed with the KO-D Tag Team Title belt belonging to Daisuke Sasaki after the 3 Way Match. He wanted to leave with it but Hisaya Imabayashi took it off him. Takanashi wanted to know why Sasaki did not have Soma Takao in his corner for the match. Sasaki swears that he and Takao reconciled after their problems yesterday.
Ohka’s father was in attendance. In fact he helped organise the show! He joined Ken in doing the show opening speech.

Keisuke Ishii took all that Michio Kageyama had to throw at him and that included tricks from Mr. Gannosuke’s playbook. He came out of the match still carrying the Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Title over his shoulder. Ken Ohka congratulated him at the end of the show. He also reminded him that he is a former champions and something he will definitely win it back. Ishii said he will always be waiting for Ohka’s challenge.
Ohka and Intelligence Sensational Grand Passion Mask #4 had been arguing with each other on Twitter in the build up to their tag match. They demanded that the other apologised and continued to do so several times during the match. There were points when Kouki Iwasaki and Kengo Takai stepped in and told their partners not to apologise otherwise it would be like giving up. Passion had the back of his trunks pulled down after a Sunset Flip from Ohka. His backside stayed exposed for the rest of the match. Ohka ended up pinning him and wanted to shake his hand afterwards. When Passion wouldn’t do it, Ohka left the ring. But Shota then appeared and helped Passion up to his feet.
A giddy Yumehito Imanari wanted to shake Nightshade’s hand before their match. Nightshade gave him the middle finger in a move that would make Maki Itoh proud. Nightshade hit the Neck Hanging Bomb and the Diving Senton to win. Imanari thanked Nightshade for wrestling him. He begged her to come back to Japan and become a regular foreign member of Pocchari Joshi.

6. “Local Celebrity” Super Sasadango Machine Local Triumph! Niigata Specialty Ultra Super Mechanko Special Single Match: Konosuke Takeshita defeated Super Sasadango Machine with the Verdict (21:17).
Today was Super Sasadango Machine’s toughest challenge in a while. He needed to figure out a way to beat Konosuke Takeshita. His PowerPoint presentation showed Sasadango is aware of his lack of stamina as a weakness. His plan was to get the audience to cheer his name at the five minute mark, do a big move to Takeshita on the ring apron and attack him with a weapon outside the ring. If all else fails he can rely on doing the Lehmann Shock three times for a victory as guaranteed as Hiroshi Tanahashi hitting the Sling Blade and the High Fly Flow.
The plan didn’t go quite as intended. The big apron bump was blocked, the bell hammer was taken as a weapon but it was Takeshita who used it on Sasadango. The Lehmann Shock was hit twice and Sasadango unmasked himself as time slowed down. But the third one was slowly countered into a Sling Blade. Takeshita climbed the ropes to do a High Fly Flow but Sasadango’s thoughts about a dead grandpa (I’ll explain that later) motivated him to stop Takeshita and hit the third Lehmann Shock! Shockingly, Takeshita kicked out at two and fought back. He used Muscle Sakai’s old finisher the Verdict to beat Sasadango.
After the match Takeshita told Sakai/Sasadango that he is a million years away from beating him. But he respects him especially since DDT does not have a new generation wrestler to replace the likes of him and Danshoku Dieno. Sasadango said today was the first time he took the Verdict. He never thought anyone other than Brock Lesnar would give it to him. He discovered that the move hurts his nose.
The rules for the 10 Vs 1 Captain’s Fall match were made a little bit clearer before it began. HARASHIMA was on the champion team, which meant he was on his own. DJ Nira was part of the 10 man team with other members of the roster. However the captain of that team was purposely kept secret so the audience could have fun solving the mystery with HARASHIMA. Nira had Masahiro Takanashi, Antonio Honda, Makoto Oishi, Keigo Nakamura and even the referee Yukinori Matsui helping him. However the ring announcer Inoue Mic noticed that Nira’s team did not have 10 people in it. He then admitted that he was the team captain! The team all beat up HARASHIMA until Nira told them to stop. This was supposed to be him challenging for the DDT Extreme Title so he wanted the match to just be between himself and HARASHIMA. The ring emptied. Nira went for the Rocket Punch. HARASHIMA went for the Somato. When they hit the room went dark. An old Hisaya Imabayashi appeared sitting on a chair telling the story of this legendary battle. A voice asked “Hey Grandpa, what happened after that?” Imabayashi did not respond. A narrator told the audience “Grandpa was dead. Nobody knows who won this match.”
DAMNATION won the 6-Man Tag but things were looking shaky within the group. At one point Daisuke Sasaki accidentally Clotheslined Soma Takao. They patched things up but later on Sasaki accidentally hit Soma again with a Spear. They still won but Takao left the ring and took no part in the post-match group pose.
