1. Sanshiro Takagi Vs Soma Takao

The history between Sanshiro Takagi and Soma Takao has been coming back to the surface lately. Takagi thinks that Takao is treading water and limiting himself by being a member of DAMNATION. Back when they were teaming together as nWJ, Takao had all of the potential in the world and Takagi wants him to be like that again. Takao doesn’t buy it and is satisfied with being a DAMNATION wrestler. Before they face off at Sumo Hall they will have a singles match at a special free show at Shin-Kiba 1st RING. All tickets for the show have already been given out.

1. Pedro Takaishi Retirement Match: Pedro Takaishi Vs X

What is there to say about Pedro Takaishi? No really, what is there? Muscle in its prime days came and went before this blog existed so the importance of this guy is unknown to me. All I know is he is a business man who learned capoeira and joined Muscle to became a pro wrestler. Now in his 50s, Takaishi will now call an end to his pro wrestling career. Or at least Super Sasadango Machine is making him do it as a selling point for this show.

So I looked up the website that was made to promote the show. Oh God my eyes! Oh and don’t think I haven’t noticed where they got the pictures. So that’s where the views for my Muscle Roster page are coming from…

Keisuke Ishii is ready to defend Ganpro’s honour against Minoru Fujita. Most of the roster have fallen to Fujita so now it’s up to Ishii.

As of 26th January Shuichiro Katsumura has a full time member of Ganpro.

The Sento Minzoku feud has led to a reunion between Ken Ohka and Isami Kodaka. The two have a long history together from their Union Pro days and plenty has changed with both since they were last in the ring together.

2. Iwasaki, Learn From The Master Of The Momota Family: Mitsuo Momota, Chikara & Kouki Iwasaki defeated Ken Ohka, Nobuhiro Tsurumaki & Naoshi Sano when Chikara pinned Sano with the Sabre Chop (12:53).
3. Bathe In The End Of Mr. Wrestling! Women’s Obsession!: Minoru Fujita defeated Moeka Haruhi with a Spear (14:26).
4. Ganbare☆Wrestling Vs Sento Minzoku In Itabashi ~ Texas Tornado Singapore Cane 6-Man Tag Match: Isami Kodaka, Ryuichi Sekine & Daiki Shimomura defeated Keisuke Ishii, Yumehito Imanari & Baliyan Akki when Shimomura pinned Akki with the Swanton Bomb (15:25).
5. Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Title: Shuichiro Katsumura (c) defeated Shota with the Ninja Choke (31:01).
*V1 for Shuichiro Katsumura.

Shuichiro Katsumura and Shota went through a 30 minute war over the Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Title. Both wrestlers were careful in their approach to the match since neither wanted to make a mistake and open themselves up to counter attacks. Katsumura would target Shota’s left arm and it paid off when the damage prevented Shota from climbing the turnbuckles. Shota was almost beaten after he took a Benadryller but he was able to use a rope break to avoid being pinned. Shota tried to strike back at the champion but Katsumura was able to slip behind him and apply the Ninja Choke to sxore his first successful defence.

Katsumura commiserated Shota after the match then called on the Ganbare☆Wrestling roster to come out. He said he was going to be the one to pull up Ganpro in 2019 and today proved it. He won in the main event for the second show in a row while the rest lost their matches to Sento Minzoku. He asked Ken Ohka if he was ashamed about this. Ohka said it’s only January and Ganpro just starting the year off a little behind. Katsumura told Ohka he will be even more embarrassed because as of today Katsumura is joining Ganpro full time! He sent a warning out to Sento Minzoku. Watch out because Ganpro now has Shuichiro Katsumura on their side!

The trio of Isami Kodaka, Ryuichi Sekine & Daiki Shimomura defeated Keisuke Ishii, Yumehito Imanari & Baliyan Akki in a Texas Tornado Singapore Cane 6-Man Tag Match. Kodaka called out to Ohka after the match wanting to know if he was hiding from him. Ohka got in the ring to face Kodaka until Ishii stepped in. Ishii asked for a match with Kodaka but Kodaka asked him to challenge Minoru Fujita instead due to Fujita’s history with Ganpro. Fujita was confused by the idea at first but agreed to it. He’s beaten Ohka, he’s beaten Imanari and he’s beaten Moeka Haruhi. All that is left for him to do in Ganpro is to beat Keisuke Ishii!

Haruhi put up a good fight against Fujita despite the obvious result. She kicked out of the Tombstone Piledriver so Fujita had to pull out a Spear to beat her. Fujita said he thought this match was a stupid idea but now he understands that he just had a match against a wonderful wrestler. When he left, Haruhi said she spent a long time thinking about today’s match. Fujita’s words have encouraged her to become stronger so she can stand proudly in the centre of this ring.

6. Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Title: Shuichiro Katsumura defeated Keisuke Ishii (c) with the Ninja Choke (23:43).
*Keisuke Ishii fails in V7. Shuichiro Katsumura becomes the 28th Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Champion!

2019 in Ganbare☆Wrestling begins with a title change! Shuichiro Katsumura was taken to his limit by Keisuke Ishii until he countered the Double Arm DDT into the Ninja Choke for the tapout victory. Katsumura thanked Ishii for giving him another shot at the Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Title even thought Ishii already defended the belt against him last June. Katsumura also said that he now feels like he belongs in Ganpro. He nominated Shota as his first challenger because they are tied one a piece in singles matches. The match takes place on 26th January.

Although he lost the match, Yumehito Imanari talked about how much he idolised Minoru Fujita ever since he was a high school student. Imanari thought Fujita had a Lion Heart like Chris Jericho. Fujita shook Imanari’s hand but then gave him an Implant DDT and the Tombstone Piledriver. He doesn’t care what some fucking idiot from Ganpro thinks about him! Suddenly Moeka Haruhi entered the ring demanding a match against Fujita. Fujita accepted and tried to flirt with Haruhi. She kicked him in the face.

A bunch of wrestlers gave their new year’s resolution at the beginning of the show. Imanari wants to develop his own style of wrestling. Ishii wants to grow more as a wrestler and also help Ganpro become bigger. Kouki Iwasaki wants Ganpro to be the place to see frenetic fights. Shota wants to meet the expectations of his fans after having a bad 2018. Shuhei Washida wants to make up for the time he was away because of injury and become stronger in the process. HARUKAZE wants to have a whirlwind 2019. Haruhi was inspired by Imanari’s speech at Korakuen Hall in December and wants to show everyone the direction the company will go this year. Ken Ohka wants everybody to be themselves. Some of the roster may think they are doing this already but he wants them to really think if they are doing what they want to do in Ganpro. And of course, Ohka wants Ganpro to become a major pro wrestling league!

6. Daisuke Sasaki & Puma King defeated Naomi Yoshimura & Sammy Guevara by TKO when Sasaki knocked out Yoshimura with the Pedigree (13:02).
7. Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title – D-Ou Grand Prix 2019 – Final: Konosuke Takeshita (c) defeated Go Shiozaki with the German Suplex (23:07).
*V? for Konosuke Takeshita.

Konosuke Takeshita has booked his ticket for Sumo Hall next February because he is the 2019 D-Ou Grand Prix winner! There was an uncomfortable vibe inside Korakuen Hall before the main event because of what happened to Naomi Yoshimura in the previous match (more on that below). Takeshita encouraged everyone to cheer for Yoshimura while he was on his way to the hospital. When they were done he then told Go Shiozaki not to hesitate fighting him at full force because of what happened earlier. Shiozaki didn’t hold back with his Chops and Lariats, leaving their mark on his opponent. Takeshita kicked out of the Go Flasher and did what he could to combat the Strong Arm Lariat. Takeshita successfully used the Fable then followed with a German Suplex to win the match and the Grand Prix. Since he is also the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion that also means a successful defence but that’s kind of a low priority from the list of accomplishments today. Takeshita now gets a KO-D Openweight Title shot at “JUDGEMENT 2019” on 17th February.

After the match Takeshita said he never imagined he would ever wrestle against Shiozaki. But today near the end of Heisei era, Takeshita got to fight a member of the strongest class of pro wrestlers. He has never felt such pain or suffering before but he wants to go through it again. Takeshita’s pecs will always be ready to take Shiozaki’s Chops. The show ended with the people who made the most impact in DDT this year talking about their summaries of 2018. MAO said he did a lot of weird things this year and wants to do more next year. Meiko Satomura talked about winning the KO-D Title. HARASHIMA said 2018 was a good year because he is still smiling at the end of it. Takeshita gave the last word. He promises to bring fun and exciting pro wrestling with all of DDT in 2019!

The semi-main event was stopped after Naomi Yoshimura spiked his head against the canvas from Daisuke Sasaki’s Pedigree. Yoshimura was knocked out from the move and Yukinori Matsui called off the match so he could get stretchered out. Sasaki got on the microphone, called Yoshimura a waste of scrap that should be sent back home and left the ring. Hisaya Imabayashi later gave everyone the update that Yoshimura could move his legs and was regaining his grip strength. Hours after the show was over it was announced that Yoshimura was diagnosed with a cervical sprain. There is no timetable yet for his return. The KO-D Title match scheduled for 3rd January has been cancelled and will be replaced with a DISASTER BOX Vs DAMNATION 10-Man Tag Match. Sasaki is annoyed because he was thought he now had free time to take a vacation to Hawaii.

#STRONGHEARTS have the upper hand over ALL OUT with today’s win. Yuki Iino was cut off by El Lindaman’s German Suplex. That allowed CIMA to hit the Schwein and the Meteora for the three count. Outside the ring Kota Umeda and Seiki Yoshioka had a face off after the match. CIMA noticed this and said that the difference between Umeda and Yoshioka is the same as the difference between Shunjuku and Ikebukuro. CIMA talked about the upcoming KO-D 6-Man Tag Titles defence on 3rd January. He has now beaten Takeshita and Iino. All that’s left for him to beat is Akito! Although he thinks T-Hawk can do that for him. Or maybe Duan Yingnan can leave his mark in DDT history by beating Takeshita?

When #STRONGHEARTS left the ring one by one, El Lindaman was the last to move until he was suddenly attacked by Nobuhiro Shimatani! They faced off then stood back to back in a height measuring contest. Both men declared themselves the winner.

Shinya Aoki & Keisuke Okuda brought along Hideki Suzuki to be their cornerman to even the odds against Keisuke Ishii & Tanomusaku Toba with Hayato “Mach” Sakurai by their side. This led to chaos when Okuda provoked Sakurai leading to a fight with his own partner Aoki! Okuda, Aoki and Suzuki fought each other among the audience until they found their way back into the ring. Things calmed down and Hisaya Imabayashi asked Aoki to pick the stipulation for his DDT Extreme Title match against Toba on 3rd January. Aoki told Okuda to pick for him and another fight broke out. When that brawl ended Aoki told Toba that they will have a Boxing Gloves Match!

It was an exciting day for Kazuki Hirata because he had a brand new pair of Hirata Go! glasses to show off to everyone. Yukio Sakaguchi didn’t care and tried to break the glasses by placing them on a chair and asking the other wrestlers to sit on it. They survived Saki Akai sitting on them but were crushed underneath Gota Ihashi. Hirata was devastated because if the glasses break then so too does his music. Hirata broke down into tears until Toru Owashi & Meiko Satomura put on their own pairs of glasses and sang “TOKYO GO” to him. Hirata danced along to it until Sakaguchi kicked him to oblivion. Sakaguchi then placed a fresh pair of glasses on Hirata’s body and imitated a line from the Hazuki Glasses commercial.

The D-Ou Grand Prix wasn’t the only big event on the show today. The return of Muscle to promote the sub-brand’s Sumo Hall show on 16th February led to a Battle Royal to determine who gets to be in the main event. The goal of the match is for a wrestler to phone the opponent they wish to face while pinning another wrestler. The winner would get that match as well as up to 1,000,000 yen to book that wrestler and 30% of that to be taken in as a booking fee. Antonio Honda wanted to book his father Tetsu Watanabe, Choun-Shiryu wanted to book Jackie Chan “of the Hong Kong International Police Department”, Pedro Takaishi wanted to book Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Yasu Urano wanted to book the comedian Kuro-chan. We didn’t hear who Makoto Oishi wanted because when he said he was going to book someone from K-DOJO he was cut off by the return of Amon Tsurumi! Tsurumi said he’s been gone for so long because he was busy producing movies. While doing this he discovered that ultra low budget movies can make good profits due to word of mouth. That means you don’t need to blow out your budget getting a big name in order to create a big success. He cancelled the Battle Royal and announced the start of the M-Ou Grand Prix round robin tournament! Urano complained that they don’t have time to do that. Everyone agreed on doing a normal Battle Royal after Tsurumi poked everyone in the eyes. Honda ended up winning the match. His prize was a briefcase representing his right to main event the Muscle show in February. Honda noticed it was heavy so he opened it up. Inside was a pile of unsold tickets for the show! Tsurumi said because Honda is main eventing the show it is now his responsibility to sell the remaining tickets. Only 780 tickets have been sold so far!

The Moonlight Express now have the perfect momentum for their Double Titles match on 5th January. They along with HARASHIMA & Kazusada Higuchi were victorious over DAMNATION in the opener. The Express want to be the best tag team of 2019 so they are already planning appearances inside and outside of DDT. They will be at Fight Club: PRO’s Japan debut on 7th January and also K-DOJO’s next Korakuen show on the 13th no matter the result of the Double Titles match.

Ten minutes wasn’t enough to determine a winner between Yuki Ueno and Mizuki Watase in the pre-show bout.

The big summer show in Ota Ward Gymnasium on 15th July will be called “WRESTLE PETER PAN”. DDT is asking fans to choose the Twitter hashtag for the show. The options are either #PeterPanDDT, #DDTPeterPan, #DDTWPP or #WrestlePeterPan.

Shuten-dōji’s self-produced show that they won from the Dramatic Election will be held in Shinjuku FACE on 17th April. They will bring in a lot of wrestlers associated with the unit and promise to deliver a ridiculous show. KUDO wasn’t there for the announcement so Shota took his place dressed just like Masahiro Takanashi. It was enough to make Sakaguchi laugh.

Shunma Katsumata is planning to return from his orbital injury this February. He had successful eye surgery on 11th December.

Jason “The Gift” Kincaid returns to DDT on 13th January. Space Monkey makes his debut on the 27th.

With Ken Ohka defeated, Yumehito Imanari is now left leading the wounded Ganbare☆Wrestling against Minoru Fujita and Sento Minzoku. Imanari calls Fujita an “A Class War Criminal” who he must defeat. Fujita meanwhile is disappointed in Ganpro’s stunted growth and is struggling to find a reason to stick around. Maybe Imanari can give him a reason.

Shuichiro Katsumura previously fought and lost to Keisuke Ishii for the Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Title back in June. After winning Ganpro’s MVP award yesterday, Katsumura now wants another chance.

Order Of Elimination: Shuhei Washida, Kouki Iwasaki, Keisuke Ishii, Ken Ohka, Shota and Yumehito Imanari.

It is the day after their Korakuen Hall return and Yumehito Imanari wanted to determine the best of Ganbare☆Wrestling with his own Grand Prix awards. Rather than leaving the MVP Award decisions to Tokyo Sports or Shukan Puroresu, he wanted the winners to be determined through matches. Mainly because he couldn’t figure out who should win by himself. The MVP Award would be given to whoever got the winning pinfall in the Keisuke Ishii & Kouki Iwasaki Vs Ken Ohka & Shota tag match. However the match ended in a ten minute draw. Imanari decided to give himself the award even though he wasn’t in the match. The wrestlers argued with Imanari. Even Shuichiro Katsumura and Shuhei Washida joined in demanding to be recognised. Imanari decided to hold an immediate “Battle Royale Rules Battle Royal” match. Shota assured everyone that they didn’t have to kill each other despite the implication from Imanari’s Beat Takeshi impersonation. Katsumura won the Battle Royal and was given Imanari’s suit jacket to represent the MVP award. Katsumura said that last year he acted a little rebellious against Ganpro because he wanted to be the MVP. He challenged Ishii to a Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Title Match on 6th January.

Fairy Nihonbashi is still missing. She was replaced by Fairy Iidabashi who was only just a few train stops nearby. Imanari made himself the referee for the women’s match. He is still disappointed that Moeka Haruhi is staying thin but liked what he saw from Iidabashi. Haruhi complained that Imanari is always the referee for her matches. Eventually Haruhi and Iidabashi both attacked Imanari. He fought back with a Double Brainbuster but the numbers game soon overwhelmed him and the match was thrown out. Imanari then announced that the Joshi MVP goes to Yuna Manase because of her gravure body.

The Best Bout award went to Imanari Vs Shin Mokujin Ken from the Ganbare☆Climax 1st Round on 11th August. The runner-up was Ishii Vs Katsumura for the Independent Jr. Title on 17th June. Third place went to the Ganbare☆Climax Final between Imanari and Shinichiro Tominaga from 12th August. Imanari named himself the winner of the Best Referee Award. Daisuke Kiso fainted from shock at the result. There was a Best Harmonica category but it was scrapped for having no nominees. Michiko Nonaka was the Best Ring Announcer. She was a one time replacement for the regular announcer Mr. Aiba when he skipped a show to attend his favourite idol’s handshake event.

Ishii took part in a fan club interview before the show. He told everyone that he is now the fourth person to take the Sternness Dust α from Jun Akiyama.

7. No Rope Barbed Wire Death Match: Minoru Fujita defeated Ken Ohka with the Modified SAYONARA (19:51).

Ganbare☆Wrestling’s return to Korakuen Hall was headlined by Ken Ohka and Minoru Fujita fighting tooth and nail in a ring surrounded with barbed wire instead of ropes. Barbed wired wasn’t enough for them as a ladder also came into play during the match. Ohka Suplexed Fujita from the top of the ladder while later on Fujita dove off the ladder onto Ohka with barbed wire wrapped around his waist. Ohka wouldn’t give up and kept fighting to get up after Fujita hit him with the Fire Spear and a Vertical Drop Brainbuster. It took a modified Tombstone Piledriver for Fujita to finally put his rival away.

Fujita told Ohka that this was the result of the last two years going back to the previous time Ganpro was in Korakuen. Fujita even ran down Ohka for drawing a smaller crowd this time! If Ohka still believes he is trying his best and working his hardest then he should be miserable from today’s result. Fujita doesn’t care if he does his best so he has no regrets. He said Sento Minzoku are done with Ganpro and will not come back. When they left the ring, Yumehito Imanari called for them to stop. Imanari promised Fujita that he has a purpose for him to stay in Ganpro. He wants to fight Fujita at Kitazawa Town Hall on 6th January! Imanari described Fujita as an “A Class War Criminal” that he should fight. Fujita accepted the challenge while Imanari was encouraging Ohka to stand back up. When Sento Minzoku did leave, Ohka and Imanari admitted that today’s show was a poorer draw than two years ago but they will learn from it. They won’t show their weak points anymore. Everyone in Ganpro will give their energy and full feelings toward the company to make it even bigger! Everyone will work hard so more fans will come see them. Imanari then told everyone his phone number and to call him if they have anything exciting to tell him.

Imanari and Shota continued to rally a crowd around him inside the Korakuen lobby after the show was over. There was a lot of video game talk like how Imanari bought Toukon Retsuden for the original Playstation and that he has to evolve like a Pokémon. Shota said that the indies have been evolving during the 2010s and strangely enough he thinks the scene now reminds him of the 1990s. Imanari then told everyone they will return pro wrestling to the golden age once more. Ganbare☆Wrestling will be their DeLorean!

Imanari & Shota have good reason to be confident. They are riding high from beating Ryuichi Sekine & Daiki Shimomura in a Texas Tornado Singapore Cane Tag Match. No tags were needed and Singapore Canes were all legal. Imanari Back Body Dropped Shota over the ropes and onto Sekine to take him out of the match. He then wound up breaking a cane over his knees before hitting Shimomura with the match winning Chubby Knee Strike.

Kouki Iwasaki came close to beating Jake Lee with a Vertical Drop Brainbuster 10 minutes into their match. Lee struck back with Middle Kicks until he could get in a Back Drop for the three count. Lee would be happy to share the ring with Iwasaki again some day either as opponents or partners. Iwasaki would rather be his opponent and maybe have it happen over in All Japan.

Speaking of All Japan, the group’s head honcho Jun Akiyama was in action kneeing the crap out of Keisuke Ishii. The newly costumed Ishii had some power in his Suplexes but was struck down with Running Knee Strikes and and Exploder Suplex. Ishii was able to kick out of them but was done when Akiyama gave him the Sternness Dust α. Akiyama patted Ishii on the chest after the match. Ishii was hoping that today would be the start of Chapter 3 in his wrestling career. He adores this kind of pro wrestling so he is thankful to Akiyama for giving him this match. He is now even more motivated to grow and also study Akiyama’s style.

Chikara was given a bouquet to celebrate his fifth year in wrestling. Carbell Ito threw out Christmas candy into the audience then told Chikara he came here today to judge him. They went into a long chop exchange during the match. Chikara accidentally hit Mitomi Masayuki with the Saber Chop and Ito dove onto Masayuki afterwards. He then hit a Diving Body Press to Chikara. Naoshi Sano took over the match and pinned Chikara with a Vertical Drop Brainbuster. Ito stomped on Chikara when the match was over.

It was announced that Fairy Nihonbashi had gone missing and had to be replaced. Taking her spot was Fairy Suidobashi, the same person but wearing a Yomiuri Giants jersey and announced as the “Fairy Of The Tokyo Dome“. She carried a mini baseball bat and used it as a wand to cast spells on Moeka Haruhi, HARUKAZE and even the referee. The late part of the match focused on HARUKAZE and Sumire Natsu squaring off against each other. Natsu countered an Armbar into a Power Bomb and pinned HARUKAZE with the Yoran DDT.

The in ring return for Shuhei Washida ended in defeat. Shuichiro Katsumura trapped him in a Toe Hold while Nobuhiro Tsurumaki & Takeshi Okada held Hiroshi Yamato & Yukihiro Abe back from breaking the hold.
