2. DAMNATION Vs RENEGADES!: Mizuki Watase, Jason Kincaid & Ryan Davidson defeated Soma Takao, Mad Paulie & Nobuhiro Shimatani when Davidson pinned Shimatani with the Davidson Driver (9:58).
3. Danshoku Dieno, Makoto Oishi & Super Sasadango Machine defeated KUDO, Masahiro Takanashi & Gorgeous Matsuno when Dieno submitted Matsuno with the Meiko Killer III (7:43).
4. Special Tag Match: Shigehiro Irie & Taiyo Kea defeated Kazusada Higuchi & Antonio Honda when Irie pinned Honda with the Beast Bomber (12:47).
5. King Of DDT 2018 – Quarter Final: MAO defeated Mike Bailey with the Cannonball 450° (11:33).
6. King Of DDT 2018 – Quarter Final: Tetsuya Endo defeated Kazuki Hirata with the Swivel Torture Rack Bomb (12:22).
7. King Of DDT 2018 – Quarter Final: HARASHIMA defeated Yukio Sakaguchi with the Somato (14:59).
8. King Of DDT 2018 – Quarter Final: Daisuke Sasaki defeated Keisuke Ishii with the Crossover Facelock (22:49).

We’re down to four in the King Of DDT. Tomorrow sees MAO, Tetsuya Endo, HARASHIMA and Daisuke Sasaki battle it out in the final rounds. But today they all went through some tough matches. In the main event Sasaki dug deep into his moveset to beat Keisuke Ishii. At one point he Superplexed Ishii out of the ring onto DAMNATION outside the ring. Sasaki kicked out of the Tiger Suplex, Final Cut and High Angle Double Arm DDT. In return, Sasaki avoided the Kneel Kick to hit the NOW OR NEVER. He then performed the Italian DDT from his Sasaki & Gabbana days before making Ishii submit to the Crossover Facelock.

HARASHIMA avoided the God’s Right Knee more often than not in his match against Yukio Sakaguchi. The vital moment came when he cut off Sakaguchi’s finisher with a short range Somato. HARASHIMA then hit the full length version to get the win.

The miracle run for Kazuki Hirata has ended at the Quarter Final stage. Endo made fun of him for being the underdog but Hirata really brought the fight to him. Hirata countered the Swivel Torture Rack Bomb by tightening his grip around Endo’s head so he could apply a Headlock. Endo tried to fight out of it with back drops but Hirata refused to let go until he could position himself for an Asai DDT out of nowhere. Hirata hit the Sliding Kick twice but still couldn’t get the pin so he went for the Viagra Driver. Endo blocked it and changed the course of the match by hitting the Handspring Kneel Kick and Tetsuya In The Sky for a nearfall. Endo finally put Hirata away with the Torture Rack Bomb.

In the match between KO-D Tag Team Champions, both Mike Bailey and MAO went high risk from the start. A lot of dives out of the ring didn’t slow either of them down until MAO won with the Cannonball 450°. The two hugged afterwards.

It’s been a while since Taiyo Kea last wrestled in Japan. He remembers Shigehiro Irie but said he has turned into a different person from the last time they met. He thinks Irie is now a fairly strong wrestler with amazing power. Together they defeated Kazusada Higuchi & Antonio Honda but it wasn’t a dominant victory. Honda successfully pulled off his Gongitsune trick on Kea. He recovered and gave Honda the TKO before Irie finished him off with the Beast Bomber.

A still injured Danshoku Dieno had to change his battle plan today knowing that his right shoulder would definitely be targeted. Gorgeous Matsuno tried to make Dieno tap with a Cross Armbreaker but Dieno countered the move into an Indian Deathlock and Headscissors combo to make Matsuno give up. Dieno has now discovered a new effective wrestling hold that will surely come in handy soon, so he named it the Meiko Killer III.

Nobuhiro Shimatani was eager to throw his weight around now that he is mostly accepted into DAMNATION. Mad Paulie also got to throw him around too onto their opponents. That all stopped when Ryan Davidson struck Shimatani with a Lariat and pinned him with the Davidson Driver.

Sanshiro Takagi got to say goodbye to three wrestlers all leaving on their own separate journeys. With Kouki Iwasaki moving to Ganbare☆Wrestling, Daiki Shimomura moving to BASARA and Rekka going overseas (not back home to Taiwan as previously reported), Takagi felt like today was farewell. He hopes that all of them will grow and treat this as the first chapter of their new story. There is only one advice he can give to them and that’s for them to really do their best.

The list of current entries in this year’s Dramatic General Election was revealed during the show. Most of the regular roster is involved. Yumehito Imanari and Maki Itoh also volunteered to compete. Sanshiro Takagi, Shigehiro Irie, Tomomitsu Matsunaga and Mike Bailey all declined to enter the contest. Danshoku Dieno is undecided and has until tomorrow to make up his mind. DAMNATION, ALL OUT, Shuten-dōji and DISASTER BOX are the current units involved with the deadline also being for tomorrow.

The big sister Nodoka-oneesan is gone. Taking her place is Nodoka Tenma! Nodoka revealed her new name and her brand new look on Monday. 5. Doki! Hardcore Match Full Of Cans: Isami Kodaka Vs FUMA
6. Naoki Tanizaki & Akiyori Takizawa Vs Ryota Nakatsu & Takato Nakano

The main event is a nice mix of veterans and rookies teaming together to continue the BASARA Vs Dove Pro feud.

How much has changed since Isami Kodaka and FUMA last fought each other one on one? Normally a match like this would determine a future challenger for the Union MAX Title but this time around I think BASARA will go a different direction. This feels more like a tune-up match for Kodaka before he goes into the steel cage against Masashi Takeda.

It looks like we’re not getting any more Pro Wrestling Trials now that Banana Senga has transformed into Stretchman Man. I don’t think prosecutors are allowed to have a big hook over their hand inside a court room. At least I don’t remember seeing that in Boston Legal or any of the Phoenix Wright games.

Dieno’s Plan Succeeds, Korakuen Double Header, Imanari Everywhere

August 17, 2018

Still a lot to unpack over the last few days. Danshoku Dieno is the new KO-D Openweight Champion after pulling off a plan that was months in the making. Super Sasadango Machine gave Dieno his Right To Challenge Gauntlet so Dieno could cash it in and win the title from a beaten up Shigehiro Irie after the main event of this week’s “DDT LIVE! MAJI MANJI” episode. According to Dieno’s interview after the show, he’s been planning this ever since the ending of “JUDGEMENT 2018” back in March! That Irie was the champion when he pulled this off is a little bit of a coincidence. Sure, Irie holds a grudge with Dieno over the current state of DDT and Dieno got in a panic when Irie briefly lost the title in America but Dieno’s motivation in this is purely to get himself into the main event of “JUDGEMENT 2018” in October. He also didn’t break any rules to achieve this. Gauntlet owners are allowed to transfer their prize to another person, which has happened before and his cash in was not at all unusual for that kind of gimmick. To insure that he makes it there with as few road blocks as possible, Dieno will only defend the title against those with a Right To Challenge Gauntlet. That there is only one left active in Japan right now means in theory he only has to make one successful defence and it is smooth sailing from there. If only it was that easy…

DDT “ROAD TO RYOGOKU 2018 ~DRAMATIC DREAM TENMUSU~”, 18/08/2018
Nagoya City East Sports Centre No. 2

1. Keisuke Okuda Vs Yuki Iino

7. King Of DDT 2018 Best 8 Special Tag Match: Daisuke Sasaki & Tetsuya Endo Vs Mike Bailey & MAO

The bad news for Dieno coming out of his win is he injured his right shoulder on the show. It isn’t clear if he was hurt by Irie’s Beast Bomber during the title match or if Dieno got hurt by the scheduled match he participated in earlier in the show. Dieno is taking the situation seriously and has taken himself off of this weekend’s shows.

7. King Of DDT 2018 Best 8 Special Tag Match: HARASHIMA & Kazuki Hirata Vs Yukio Sakaguchi & Keisuke Ishii

Mizuki Watase sprained his ankle at Maji Manji so he too will be out of action this weekend. Both Dieno and Watase are expected to return in time for the 25th August Korakuen Hall show.

2. Danshoku Dieno, Makoto Oishi & Super Sasadango Machine Vs KUDO, Masahiro Takanashi & Gorgeous Matsuno

7. King Of DDT 2018 – Quarter Final 3: HARASHIMA Vs Yukio Sakaguchi
8. King Of DDT 2018 – Quarter Final 4: Daisuke Sasaki Vs Keisuke Ishii

Some of the recent roster changes have come into effect. Kouki Iwasaki, Daiki Shimomura and Rekka will have their chance to say goodbye to DDT. For Rekka it will be goodbye to Japan. I assume Iwasaki and Shimomura will be back here and there whenever DDT needs a undercard spot to fill.

DDT “BLACK OUT PRESENTS KING OF DDT 2018 FINAL ROUND”, 26/08/2018
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

0. Under Match: Kouki Iwasaki Vs Nobuhiro Shimatani
1. King Of DDT 2018 – Semi Final: Winner Of Quarter Final 1 Vs Winner Of Quarter Final 2

4. Special Tag Match: Tatsumi Fujinami & Antonio Honda Vs Kazusada Higuchi & Yuki Ueno
5. Danshoku Dieno, Makoto Oishi & Super Sasadango Machine Vs Shigehiro Irie, Mizuki Watase & Jason Kincaid
6. King Of DDT 2018 – Final: X Vs X

Dieno better pray he makes it out of Korakuen in one piece if Irie gets his hands on him. But I wouldn’t be giving him enough credit to think he doesn’t have a plan in place to protect himself.

DDT “DDT LIVE! MAJI MANJI #15”, 28/08/2018
Shin-Kiba 1st RING

1. Special Single Match: Shinya Aoki Vs Gota Ihashi
2. Right To Date 2nd Generation Bachelor Rintaro Oyaizu 4 Way Match: Cherry Vs Yuna Manase Vs Maki Ito Vs Yuki Kamifuku
3. KO-D Openweight Title: Danshoku Dieno (c) Vs Meiko Satomura
*Meiko Satomura will cash in her Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Gauntlet.

Meiko Satomura currently has the last remaining Gauntlet in Japan and she intends to get her title match on 28th August. If she wins and becomes the champion her first action will be to grant Irie a title shot. She originally wanted her championship match to be against Irie before Dieno got involved.

Rintaro Oyaizu is the star of Japan’s version of The Bachelor season 2. He appeared on Maji Manji this week and had several women wrestlers pushing each other out of the way to get his attention. The solution is to have a match where the winner gets to date him. It’s kind of odd because three of the participants are banned by their company from dating men but hey, a blind eye can be turned if it gets some mainstream attention I guess.

Good news about Gota Ihashi. He looks in better shape every time I’ve seen him this year. Bad news about Ihashi, he has to fight MMA star Shinya Aoki. I’m not even sure if this is part of his trial series.

Imanari is going to be all over this show and is already featured in every match announced so far. He’s welcoming Kouki Iwasaki to Ganpro, passing over his heroic attributes to Moeka Haruhi and getting into a kickboxing scrap with Tanomusaku Toba.

Azusa Takigawa To Graduate, Sakisama Leaving For Paris

August 14, 2018

TOKYO JOSHI PRO “BRAND NEW WRESTLING 2 ~NOW IT’S TIME TO ATTACK~”, 25/08/2018
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

1. Hikari & Raku Vs Miu & Hinano
2. Nodoka’s New Ring Name, New Costume, New Theme Song: Nodoka-oneesan & Yuki Aino Vs Yuna Manase & Yuki Kamifuku
3. Hyper Misao Vs Priscilla Kelly
4. Azusa Takigawa Vs Saki Akai
5. Special Single Match: Shoko Nakajima Vs Riho
6. TOKYO Princess Tag Team Titles: Yuka Sakazaki & Mizuki Vs Reika Saiki & Maki Itoh
7. TOKYO Princess Of Princess Title: Miyu Yamashita (c) Vs Yuu

More sad news coming out of Tokyo Joshi Pro in the lead-up to their next Korakuen Hall show. Azusa Takigawa has announced she will graduate from Tokyo Joshi later this year with her final match taking place on 27th October. This had been planned for around a year with Takigawa consulting with management over the decision. Talks went away when Takigawa was brainwashed by NEO Biishiki-gun and transformed into Azusa Christie. But with her persona back to normal and her memories returned, she is sticking with her plan to graduate this year. For her final appearance in Korakuen Hall, Takigawa wanted to fight Saki Akai. When Takigawa visited Tetsuya Koda in late 2014 to join Tokyo Joshi it happened around the same time when Akai won the Best Rookie category in the Tokyo Sports Awards. Takigawa was worried about entering wrestling when she was given the article about Akai winning the award. What Takigawa saw was a beautiful person working so hard on pro wrestling and she admired Akai ever since. Akai has spent all this time working for DDT instead of Tokyo Joshi so Takigawa never got the chance to wrestle her until now. Since Akai has a modelling contract with Oscar Promotion, Takigawa hopes that if she wins the match she can use Akai’s connection to get signed to the agency as a caster or reporter. She’s been working hard for the last three years so she believes she has the power to make her dream come true! While Akai has been absent from Tokyo Joshi for a long time, she’s still been paying attention to the brand and has watched Takigawa grow. She thinks Takigawa is showing great courage to graduate at this time.

That isn’t the only absence in the roster coming up. Sakisama next gave everyone the news that she will be returning to Paris after the 18th August show and will no longer be wrestling for Tokyo Joshi, for a while at least. Sakisama was already planning to leave with the rest of NEO Biishiki-gun earlier this month but she decided to stay behind for a little bit for a personal reason. She has an eye out for her upcoming opponent Hikari. She called her the “Blue Fruit” of the Up Up Girls and she wants to squeeze all the juice out of her before she leaves for Paris. Sakisama said it was inspiring to see Azusa Christie wrestle against her at the Beer Garden show. Before Christie was too dependent on her like a child but Sakisama got to see her change as they fought each other. Plus it was even a little fun, Sakisama admits.

The two teams in the TOKYO Princess Tag Team Titles match have signed the contract to make it official. Mizuki said she has twice tried to win the belts with Maki Itoh for Maki Itoh. This time she has the chance to win it for herself so she doesn’t want to miss that opportunity. Yuka Sakazaki wants revenge on Reika Saiki for losing the TOKYO Princess Title to her last year. Saiki has come around on the idea of teaming with Itoh for the match. She thinks having Itoh as her partner raises her chances of regaining the titles she never lost. Itoh describes her feelings about Mizuki joining another team being like finding out a boyfriend has found another woman. However she can use this disappointment as motivation to win the championships. Even if she fails it will be valuable experience.

5. KO-D Tag Team Titles: Mike Bailey & MAO defeated Tetsuya Endo & Mad Paulie (c) when MAO pinned Endo with the Cannonball 450° (17:53).
*DAMNATION fails in V1. Mike Bailey & MAO become the 65t KO-D Tag Team Champions!
6. KO-D Openweight Title: Shigehiro Irie (c) defeated HARASHIMA with the Beast Bomber (25:28).
*V3 for Shigehiro Irie. HARASHIMA cashes in his Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Gauntlet.
-. KO-D Openweight Title: Shigehiro Irie (c) defeated Sammy Guevara with the Beast Bomber (7:54).
*V4 for Shigehiro Irie. Sammy Guevara cashes in his Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Gauntlet.

Finally, finally, finally! Seven years since on from their first meeting and on his 10th attempt, Shigehiro Irie has beaten HARASHIMA one on one! HARASHIMA hit him with the Somato several times from different directions throughout the match. In return Irie hit the Beast Bomber enough times to put HARASHIMA down and out. Even though Irie’s attitude towards DDT has turned sour, there wasn’t any hatred shown towards HARASHIMA after the match. The two showed respect to each other and Irie thanked HARASHIMA for the match.

With the once impossible task now passed, Irie can now move on to his next goal as KO-D Openweight Champion. He wants to go abroad and defend the title against foreign wrestlers. Hisaya Imabayashi told Irie that DDT needs to know in advance who Irie will be fighting so they can authorise any title defences. Irie brought up the one way ticket to New York that Kazusada Higuchi was given after the 2016 DNA Grand Prix that he never used. Maybe Irie will take it for his travels. That like the overseas title defences is another thing DDT once promised that they never followed up on. Danshoku Dieno said if this is what Irie wants then it is Dieno’s duty as DDT Producer to endorse it. Irie said he already decided it will happen and Dieno will not get any say on the matter. Dieno tried to tell Irie that he hopes Irie will not lose the title but he was suddenly interrupted by Irie’s buddy Sammy Guevara.

The opening match today ended Sammy Guevara winning a Right To Challenge Gauntlet and he decided he will cash it in right now! Dieno was happy to tell Irie that the match was happening right now too. Guevara started quick with a Topé out of the ring but his high risk moves went against him later when Irie threw him over the corner post onto the rest of Irie-gun outside! Guevara recovered to hit the Cannonball 630 but that only got a nearfall. Irie put a stop to Guevara’s sprint by hitting him with the Traffic Accident Tackle and getting the pin with the Beast Bomber. After the match Irie called Guevara stupid, but he likes how crazy he is. If a fool like Guevara is brave enough to pick a fight with Irie then that’s the kind of guy Irie wants on his team. When the show was over, Irie decided on the official name for his unit. From now on they are RENEGADES. They are traitors to DDT and will rebel against the company!

Today was a sad day for DAMNATION with plenty of despair to go around. Tetsuya Endo & Mad Paulie lost the KO-D Tag Team Titles to Mike Bailey & MAO. It took Bailey and MAO to jump off the same turnbuckle at the same time onto the champions to win. MAO hit the Cannonball 450° on Endo to pin him in the ring while Bailey landed a Moonsault onto Paulie outside the ring. MAO was even more satisfied because it is the first time he has decisively beaten one of his seniors and also because he and Bailey won the titles on their first attempt.

If losing championships were bad, having your heart broken was worse. Daisuke Sasaki shared the ring with Asuka but not for a wrestling match. Instead he wants to show the world all of the BIG LOVE they have for each other. Unfortunately Asuka admitted she was never seriously into him. Sasaki isn’t her type and he’s also too old for her anyway. The revelation sent Sasaki into a frenzy and he was no longer going to hold back. Asuka hit a Choke Slam but her Moonsault was blocked. Sasaki got a nearfall with the Diving Elbow Drop. He knew Asuka was beaten but he gave her one last chance to change her mind. All he wanted was for her to say “BIG LOVE”. Instead Asuka gave Sasaki the middle finger and shouted “Fuck you!” Sasaki put Asuka in the Crossover Facelock to make her tapout. BIG LOVE is dead. Now Sasaki is reborn with feelings stronger than hatred. He swears he will kill everyone!

The Uchicomi! company wanted a new spokesperson when Ken Ohka turned out to be a failure for them. Ohka won the match to become the first ever Uchikomi! Openweight Ultimate Champion so they are back to square one. However the Uchikomi! director Michiaki Nakano was impressed by Ohka’s performance in the match and is willing to give Ohka another chance. In the Battle Royal portion of the match, Alex Ace’s size allowed him to dominate the ring and eliminate several wrestlers by Ring Out. It was only miscommunication from Antonio Honda that led to them getting eliminated. Super Sasadango Machine was also able to win a Right To Challenge Gauntlet from Kouki Iwasaki when Rekka accidentally struck his partner, costing them the match.

The ALL OUT boys are busy preparing for their match against the Sendai Girls on Tuesday. To help them figure out what wrestling against joshi is like, they sent their cousins Keiko Takeshita Jr., Akiko & Carousel❤Shun to wrestle in their place against another “joshi” team of Francoise☆Takagi, Margaret★Owashi & Kazuko Hirata. Actually Keiko Jr. might be Konosuke Takeshita’s aunt rather than cousin judging by her appearance and behaviour. Takeshita Jr. hulked up and ripped off her clothes before pinning Takagi with the Leg Drop. They won’t be around on Tuesday to see their relatives defend the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles.

Sammy Guevara won his Right To Challenge Gauntlet from Yukio Sakaguchi in the opener. Mizuki Watase, Jason Kincaid & Facade all hit Coast To Coast Dropkicks on Sakaguchi but Guevara’s pin was stopped by Sakaguchi’s teammates. Sakaguchi applied a Sleeper Hold but Guevara slipped out of it and hit a Running Knee to the back of Sakaguchi’s head for the surprise three count.

Tomomitsu Matsunaga grabbed Yuki Ueno’s tights during the Samson Clutch to beat him.

Former Tokyo Joshi Pro wrestler Nonoko has been appointed as the food producer for Beer Garden week. She promises to stimulate all five senses of the customers with her menu.

Kota Umeda will be out of action for the rest of the month because of his left knee injury.

The 2018 Dramatic General Election will begin on 4th September and end on 28th October. The 28/10 Korakuen Hall show will be a “DDT LIVE! MAJI MANJI” special!

6. KO-D Openweight Title: Shigehiro Irie (c) Vs HARASHIMA
*HARASHIMA will cash in his Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Gauntlet.

All 32 wrestlers competing in this year’s King Of DDT tournament will be revealed during the show. However some wrestlers are either prohibited from entering or have declined to participate. The KO-D Openweight Champion and everyone who possesses a Right To Challenge Gauntlet cannot enter the tournament. Also anybody who already has a match booked for “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2018” on 21st October cannot enter either so that removes Makoto Oishi, Misaki Ohata, Joey Ryan and Laura James. Finally, Danshoku Dieno has declined to take part and Rekka will be in Taiwan while the tournament is in progress so he is not entering. After that it is fair game across the field. Will all 32 wrestlers come from the DDT family or will there be a couple of surprises in store?

TOKYO JOSHI PRO “BRAND NEW WRESTLING 2 ~NOW IT’S TIME TO ATTACK~”, 25/08/2018
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

1. Special Single Match: Shoko Nakajima Vs Riho
2. TOKYO Princess Of Princess Title: Miyu Yamashita (c) Vs Yuu

Nodoka-oneesan gave a surprising announcement that she is graduating from her current gimmick and will come to this show with new name, a new costume and new entrance music. Nodoka feels that after reaching the semi-finals of the Tokyo Princess Cup, she needs to move on from her current gimmick to make the next step. She isn’t entirely sure what she is going to become because she has always been the “Older Sister” character from her debut.

Shoko Nakajima wanted a singles match with Riho to celebrate the 5th anniversary of her debut. Her wish has come true. They previously wrestled each other in a TOKYO Princess Tag Team Titles match at the January Korakuen Hall Show earlier this year. Riho is happy to be back in Tokyo Joshi Pro because there are a variety of different women wrestlers here. Her match with Nakajima will be a lot different than the match she had with Maki Ito back in May for example.
